The Gruffalo is clever, funny, and kids love how the little brave mouse can outsmart the big, bad gruffalo! A classic.

Journey is definitely my husbands’ favorite book to read to the kids. It has no words and you tell the story through the photos. It’s an adventure and also brings in the kids’ own creativity to tell the story - definitely no wonder it’s won so many awards. It’s a trilogy and we own all three, and have read each one countless times!

It also covers topics that we as parents may forget to discuss day to day, and brings it up in a totally neutral way. No one is in trouble or has said anything “wrong,” we are just discussing in theory (versus when a kid is rude and is being corrected!). A good buy, imo!

This free class is designed to introduce participants ages 6 and up to the sport of fishing using fun, hands-on activities. Topics will include safety; rods, reels, and terminal tackle; two useful fishing knots; equipping your tackle box; casting instruction/practice; a tour of the fish hatchery; and, weather permitting, a chance to catch and release a fish at Sea Center Texas. Bring water, snacks, and a lunch to eat on site. All equipment and bait are provided, kids must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Birthday party books! I do love gifting a book because most parents really don’t mind more books and birthdays can be such an overwhelming gift experience for young kiddos. Meant for slightly younger kids (I would say 3-6 years old), this is one of the cutest seek and find books I’ve ever seen. The concept is adorable and kids love the funny dino appearing throughout.

Reenactors dressed in period clothing will make the epic events of April 1836 come alive, and reenactments throughout the day will recreate the dramatic events that led to one of the most decisive and impactful military victories in the history of North America. Hands-on, participatory activities will let you interact with reenactors as they cook food, check weapons, and engage in the daily routines of soldiers and civilians from almost 200 years ago.
