New York Beatbox Championship 2026 - EVENT RECAP

On May 8 & 9, 2026, we hosted the latest New York Beatbox Championship event. A two-sided tournament with a Top 16 Beatbox Battle and a Super Smash Bros: Ultimate bracket. The event was a smashing success with some incredible reviews! Congratulations to Eulacio for winning 1st place and joining the short list of New York Champions. Justice for Double Team

A controversial GBB Wildcard Judging Decision was made last month which left the American beatboxing crew Double Team (made of ZVD, Rahul, Jovial and Clutch) officially disqualified for the Grand Beatbox Battle 2026. In an unexpected turn of events – Namely The Beatbox House dropping out of their showcase slot – Swissbeatbox has decided to allow the two runner-up crews into the battles: The Young Drug from India and Double Team from USA.

ONE AND ONE (Day 1): One and One is a fully equipped bar and event space. We’ve rented the private room for maximum immersion into the beatbox lifestyle. One and One is NOT wheelchair accessible.

Information for Competitors

The competition will take place ENTIRELY on Day 2, May 9th at OS NYC.

Open Elimination Beatbox Battle: Anyone can join the battle. To join, prepare a 90 second beatbox routine and sign up before 2pm for $5. Up to 64 eliminations are allowed to join the battle.

Beatbox Battle Rules:

• 90 seconds per round, except for overtime rounds which are 45 seconds

• Single-elimination bracket

• 2 rounds per battle

• Immediate judge decisions determine the outcome of each battle

Bring your own mic policy: We encourage you to bring your own microphone to beatbox to minimize the spread of germs. We will provide extra SM58s for anyone who doesn’t own a mic.

• Pre-Approved Microphones: SM58, AKG D5, AKG D7, Sennheiser e935, Sennheiser e945, Mackie EM-89D, and other comparable handheld dynamic microphones.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate Tournament: Anyone is allowed to join. Signups close at 5:30pm.

Battle Entry Fee: Registration for either competition costs $5 per entry.

About Practice Battles

Practice beatbox battles are one of the best ways to test your beatbox skills without the pressure of a high-stakes competition. All practice battles are friendly and non-competitive, meaning there are no losers... only winners!

Each practice battle is an opportunity for your beatboxer to showcase what they’ve been working on in the past week through their self-directed beatbox study — And also a fantastic opportunity to listen in on the new ideas that everyone else brings to each session.

Practice battles are always followed up by constructive commentary by the session leader and filtered feedback from fellow league members.

Our promise is to keep Pass The Beat a positive, fun, and encouraging space - Pass The Beat is a strictly no-bully-zone.

There will be a total of 8 Wildcard Winners, leaving 8 additional spots for an in-person Open Elimination Round on the day of the event.

Wildcard Judges: Pono, DEN, Miso

Wildcard Length: 90 Seconds of beatboxing (+/- 6 seconds, intro does not count)

Wildcard Deadline: March 10th, 2026=

Audio Rules:

Basic audio editing is allowed (compression, reverb, eq). No audio automation allowed.

Submission Details:

The video submission must be made via a public YouTube video and submitted to THIS FORM.

Video Format:

At the start of your video, state your name and which country, city, region, or state you are representing - Follow it up with 90 seconds of your best beatboxing! Videos MUST be performed in a single continuous take with no audio dubbing.

Preliminary Live Seeding:

Wildcard winners will be guaranteed top 16, but will still do a 90 second elim at the event for the sole purpose of bracket seeding. This will prevent the entire top 16 being a wildcard winner versus an open elimination participant.

e.g. Beatboxer A gets 5th in the wildcard and Beatboxer B gets 4th in the wildcard. At the live event, A gets 9th seed and B gets 18th seed during eliminations. A would be seeded 9th and B would be seeded 16th.

Additional Information:

Anyone can submit a wildcard, regardless of age, gender, location or otherwise. Wildcard winners will be awarded free entry to the NY Champs event on May 16th, 2026 and an automatic placement into the top TOP 16 SOLO BEATBOX BATTLE.

Results will be published by April 1, 2026

At the heart of the West Coast Championships are three intense competition categories, each designed to challenge different aspects of beatboxing…

🥇 Solo Beatbox Battle

12 Beatboxers face off in an elimination round followed by a series of 1v1, single elimination battles. Battlers are given 3 minutes each per battle to showcase their best material with nothing but a microphone with no FX. Registration is CLOSED

🔁 Loop Station Battle

4 Loopers face off in a seeding round followed by 1v1, single elimination battles. Battlers utilize a loop station to produce mind-bending beats and routines live with no pre-recorded sounds or samples. Registration is CLOSED.

🔥 7 to Smoke

Summary: 8 Beatboxers face off in a series of 1v1 battles. This King of the Hill style battle is fast paced and fun! The winner stays on, the loser moves to the back of the line. The first competitor to reach 7 victories wins the entire competition. Registration is OPEN at the live event.

How to Sign Up:

The New York Beatbox Championship will host an open elimination round, meaning that anyone can participate with an audition up to 90 seconds long. Signups are open between 5pm-6pm at the event with a limit of 50 participants who will perform in a random order. Battlers must purchase a battle entry for $5 with their ticket online or at the door.

I felt a particular calling to create something casual, social, and frequent, and so we introduced the practice beatbox battle concept which was received very well. Soon, we’ll discuss more social opportunities… so stay tuned.

Why host a practice beatbox battle?

The typical beatbox event experience is full of infrequent high stakes competitions, and those who have attended any will tell you one major thing:

“I love to beatbox, but battles STRESS ME OUT!”

- Every beatboxer

Even the most seasoned beatboxers face stress when competing in a battle. This affects their ability to perform at their best, which could lead to disappointment and a tragically long wait for the next competition in order to try again.

At our most recent NYC Beatbox Battle, local competitors Chris Celiz and Gene Shinozaki - who just so happen to also be beatboxing world champions - told me personally how nervous they were to battle despite their 20+ years of combined battle experience.

Before these practice battles, there weren’t any opportunities to beatbox battle just for the fun of the sport rather than the glory of proving who is the best. But now, there’s a stress free way to battle with a distinct focus on feedback and improvement. It’s fun, social, and educational for beatboxers and non-beatboxers.

When asked, 100% of people who attended the event said they would come again. We hope you’ll be there too!
