The Amazon workout dress I’m obsessed with!

How is everyone? We are heading to Cincinnati early tomorrow morning for the Cinci Open and can’t wait. We debated driving back tomorrow night but the kids have a sleepover planned and figured we would be exhausted after sitting in the heat all day. It is our first time at the tournament and and we had such a great time at kids day so can’t wait! If you ever get a chance and live close—it’s so worth it. We are hoping to grab reservations to an Omakase place in the city we found for dinner after but if you have any recommendations send them my way.

Let’s get into some other life updates and fun stuff:

• I finished Love You More this week and was pretty lukewarm on it. I honestly feel like I’ve been in a reading rut since Dear Debbie—which I loved! It had some twists I didn’t see coming but I never felt invested in the characters for some reason. Many of you suggested The Calamity Club on audio book so we started that on our drive yesterday and hope to finish it today, loving it so far.

• Have you tried the Palm Springs Date Shake? Made it this week and loved it. I’ve also been stealing Trevor’s bougie chocolate shake mix and it’s a delight. They sent me a code after I shared it in case you need—SHAHEEN15.

• In woo woo news, I have become obsessed with this neck relaxer. A friend told me about it and I swear it melts the stress away. Seems like a small contraption but it makes a big difference.

• I shared this on stories but Target has been killing the denim game. I recently picked up two pairs of denim from them and have been blown away. Historically I have not been a fan of their denim but think they have changed things up. The styles and tailoring seem much more elevated and the options for Tall and Petite are life changing. This is a more mid-rise straight leg jean and these barrel legs are not overly exaggerated and the waist is perfect—just size down.

• Have you heard anything about the new novel Kitten by Stacey Yu? I found this essay such an interesting read.

• The kids are back to school, activities are in full swing and work seemed to pile on last week but things are looking up this week. I feel like everyone is settling in and it honestly feels nice to be in a routine again. Have you gone back yet?

It’s almost the end of summer and like every year—I wonder where the time has gone. This trip was the only travel we had (intentionally) scheduled this summer and we kept telling ourselves it was at the tail end of summer break. When it rolled around last week I was shocked. I still can not believe these kids go back to school in two weeks.

So let’s get into it and answer all your questions!

Where did you stay?

We stayed at The Tyler Place Family Resort in Vermont. We originally heard about the camp from my girlfriend from Dental School who has been going with her family for years. She has made lifelong friends there and always enjoys herself so I had added our name to the list a few years ago! More recently, I met a friend through tennis who I learned has also been going for over 10 years with her family and looks forward to it every year. In years past the timing never worked out for us—either the week offered didn’t match our schedule or we couldn’t get a week we preferred. It just so happened that we were offered our top pick of week this year and took it!

Tyler Place is just an hour outside Burlington and a quick ride—I thought the property was expansive and had everything you could want in a camp. It has a very rustic camp feel! You can see plenty of photos online but I found the accommodations charming and sufficient—it’s nothing extravagant which some of you asked. There are no TV’s in the cabins and each camper chooses a bike to get around for the week. Depending on the cabin you get, you may have a fireplace and sun deck. We were in our cabin so little during our stay that we found the proximity to the Inn and camp houses most important.

Our cabin had a living room, fireplace, one bathroom and two bedrooms—one queen and a bunk room.

The Inn—all evening adult activities are here and you can eat right outside on the deck on in the dining area behind.

What is a Family Camp?

I assume there are variations of Family Camp’s but Tyler Place is like the perfect dip into a time machine. The property is rustic and homey, the staff is amazing and wonderfully kind and you are able to be at camp with your kids while still having alone time.

It’s as if an all-inclusive and 90’s summer camp melted together in the best way. While the kids are with their groups; the adults have their own activities. I loved that the Main Inn, lawn and dining area at the Inn were not accessible to kids under 16 so there were clear Adult and Kid areas.

I loved the fact that we had so much alone time to read, exercise and just be together while still being on vacation with the kids and having family time. It’s something I haven’t experienced anywhere else. The kids loved their camp counselors and friends they made and didn’t want to leave them. There was never any guilt during our time apart which is such a unique experience.

Each day is sectioned off into ‘camp’ and ‘family time’ as follows:

8:30-1:30pm—Breakfast and Camp Activities for kids

During this time adults have breakfast and can opt in or out of various activities. A lot of the days we participated in the sports challenges like kickball, tennis and pickleball. We would then have lunch outside before picking the kids up at their camp houses at 1:30pm

1:30-5:30pm—Family Time

You are with your kids during this time and can do anything you please! We would play basketball, putt putt, go swim at the pool and/or lake and just relax. The craft cabin and woodshop were also big hits during this time and we always had something to do. The older kids also seemed to make plans to meet up during this time so we had to bribe Zain to hang out with us ;)

5:30-8:30pm—Dinner and Camp Activities for Kids

During this time the adults have cocktail hour, dinner and get to relax on the lawn!

8:30pm—Pick up kids from camp

9-11pm—Adult Entertainment

There was a theme for each night like Trivia Night, Karaoke Night, etc and if you wanted to attend you could book a sitter (who was usually one of your kids counselors) for that night. We had the same sitter all week and he was one of Zahra’s counselors that both kids adored. To be honest, we couldn’t stay awake every night so opted to do 3 of the evening activities and the kids begged us to do more.

The arts & crafts cabin was a dream for my children!

How were the people? Did you know anyone there?

We didn’t know anyone attending during our week and that was intentional. Our friends were there the week before and some went the week after us. I wanted them to be able to enjoy their time away with the friends they had solidified at camp without having to appease us and for us to be able to meet new people as well.

Everyone was very kind to us and the camp hosts went out of their way to introduce us to people since it was our first year. You could tell there were groups of people who had been coming together for some time or families that did this every year but overall we felt like everyone was very inclusive.

I will say, Trevor and I discussed how it is much more social than we had imagined. Since all meals are separate from your kids you generally mix and mingle with the adults during those times. You get to know people through playing sports, sitting at meals together or chatting at cocktail hour. You can obviously do what you prefer but it was an extremely social environment!

We made several friends while there and I exchanged numbers and still chat with some of the women, I hope to see them and their kids again!

How was the food?

We thought the food was great actually! It is all served buffet style and the camp has a very rustic atmosphere so I wasn’t sure what to expect but overall I thought it was lovely. Lots of fresh salads, fruits and veggies everyday plus a different vibe for each meal.

Things like coffee, tea, and lemonade are all included but anything additional from the bar is obviously not. However, the most lovely surprise was that the prices aren’t raised like most vacation spots. A Michelob Ultra is $2.50 which is a 1/4 of what it costs in Louisville. Nothing at the bar was overly priced and the bartenders were all lovely!

Were you prepared? What would you change?

My friends prepared me pretty well for camp arrival so I knew what to expect and pack but we still made some wrong moves. I was told to get there early and get a good bike but we did not and deeply regretted that. Depending on what cottage you stay in, you make bike a lot and riding up and down those hills can get tedious. I luckily got the last bike with a basket and really couldn’t have survived without it.

As a new family you are kind of learning along the way and the signup process for activities whether adult or family time isn’t extremely clear. I would be sure to ask at the start of the week how you sign up for anything you may want to do and make notes or set alarms. The kids desperately wanted a ride in the ‘Sombrero’ but we missed that sign up happened mid week so just small things like that!

There is a store at the end of the road that has some snacks and drinks but our car service had an optional Target pick up stop and I wish I had grabbed bottled waters, a few snacks and a bottle of wine to have in the room.

Are you going back again?

Yes! I think our kids are at the optimal age to enjoy this kind of trip. They are independent enough to get themselves around camp and hang out with their friends but still at the age where we thoroughly enjoy a break from parenting during the day.

I will say that it is a pricey trip so if your kids are old enough that you could travel through Europe with them and not need any assistance or breaks it may not be worth it.

How much did it cost?

Every week is different and each accomodation is a different size so price varies quite a bit! We have been offered weeks in May for around 6k and later more desirable weeks for 10k. Looks like they have updated costs here!

Flights into Burlington are also not inexpensive but so many families we met flew into either Boston, Montreal or somewhere on the coast before and did some sightseeing before they drove to camp!

How did you book?

I would sign up on the website for their Mailing List and then keep in touch with them when the time rolls around for next summer’s booking. I think weeks often open up and it may work out!

How are we? We’ve had the weirdest weather to start out the summer and it seems to be another rainy morning today. The kids are not in any camp this week but we’ve been keeping busy—this activity is honestly still keeping them busy. A few pool days while Zain has swim team, many visits to the library, a few mahjong games and just relaxing together. I tried to alternate camp weeks with non-camp weeks if possible so they could have some time to chill but it’s a real balance when they have so much energy they need to burn off.

It’s been a while since we’ve chatted here so wanted to catch up:

• Currently reading: The Island Club! Admittedly much slower than I normally read but that has nothing to do with the book. It’s been juicy and exactly what you want out of a summer read—my attention span has just been maxed out. What are you currently reading?

• Little joys: ran some errands with the kids this week and my friend Emily had told me I needed to grab these Icee hydration packets and they did not disappoint!!! Sugar free and the color is thankfully from beets—the summer pick me up I needed.

• Home happiness: you know I love a good home find and weekly search Anthropologie’s sale section. They always have the prettiest, most unique home finds and when they launch these sales I feel like they are giving them away. Everything is on sale and an EXTRA 50% off right now—rounded up my picks here.

• Currently cooking: we have swim team at a special time tonight so will I know we will all be starving when we get home from the pool. Spotted this recipe and knew I immediately had to make them! Thinking of trowing together the high protein salad I’ve been making also.

How are we? I hope you soaked up the long weekend! We sadly had very unfortunate weather all weekend but it was still so relaxing. We had little to no plans: played tennis, grabbed pizza with friends and then celebrated Zain’s 9th birthday with my parents on Monday with lunch at an Indian restaurant—per his request. If you are local to Louisville, Zila on Frankfort Ave was really good. Casual and easy with great kebabs and biryani.

I recently posted a Q&A which I try to do weekly and saw this question float through.

I answer this so often in my DM’s.

I generally set aside time blocks during my work day to catch up and answer DM’s so I’m not constantly in a spiral of checking and answering and I discuss this everyday with people.

I wanted to share more thoughts and the nuances behind where I’m at so let’s get into it…

The short answer: no.

I froze my dental license at the start of this year and had many mixed feelings about it. If you are new here, I graduated Dental School in 2010, completed a residency at Loyola University in 2011 and worked in private practice in Chicago. The private practice life was vastly different than what I had imagined as a young naive dental student. Due to where I was located and the abundance of offices in Chicago, the grind and pressure as an associate was real.

When we made the move back to Louisville after being in practice for almost 10 years I was incredibly burnt out. I never expected to love every minute of my job but I found I loved very little about it. The actual act of dentistry is something I enjoy so much: using my hands in a creative way, making people feel more confident and seeing them smile again. However, the constant battling with insurance companies, people thinking you are trying to scam them and the lack of predictability is draining. It’s also a job where if you are not physically there working, you are not producing and making an income. There is no paid leave, no maternity leave, no benefits—the list could go on.

When we made the move back to Louisville I knew I needed a change. I decided to move to public health which was something I felt strongly about. I was traveling to underserved areas and seeing kids in public schools that didn’t have regular access to dental care. We did everything they needed treatment wise but this also came with its flaws. The unpredictability and continuity of care being the biggest one. The bonus of being available for my kids and not needing to hire full time help outweighed all of this at the time though.

As time went on, this space and my social media business grew. I think from the outside looking in it’s so hard to decipher who is ‘working a full time job’ and ‘who is having fun’ on the internet. Often times, followers don’t equate to anything and the behind the scenes is very different. I enjoy this space so much but with two kids, a job in dentistry and the increasing demands here I couldn’t manage.

I talked with my family, my manager Kristin and myself a lot. Why was I still holding on to this job as a dentist? I worked so hard to get here that it seemed wild to hang up my hat. Despite thinking I’m 27…I realized after a lot of reflection that it’s been 16 years since I graduated dental school and this didn’t need to be the end.

There is no telling where I will be in the future but dentistry will always be there if I want to return. I realized what was most important to me right now was being there for my kids as much as I can while providing for my family.

Often times people ask me if I’m still working and when I say I left dentistry this year they respond with things like ‘oh I love being a sahm’ or ‘must be nice’ etc. Let me be clear, there is nothing wrong with being a sahm and I have so much respect for those providers but that is not what I’m doing.

I run a social media business that often times takes more than full-time hours and am lucky enough to be able to make that work with my family and our schedule. I am a first generation child of immigrants so what I monetarily provide for my family is greatly tied to my self worth, for better or worse. The decision to leave was not flippant and if I wasn’t in a place to provide for my family, I would never have even considered it.

While being an influencer can look amazing and—trust me having been in another field, it is an amazing job—it is still a lot of work. However, the flexibility and happiness I find from being creative is unmatched.

I shared this earlier in the week but I have always loved fashion and probably didn’t pursue it due to pressure from myself and (let’s be real) my parents. I am truly living my childhood dream talking about fashion and it’s in large part thanks to all of you for supporting me.

I find a lot of people in this industry take it for granted having never worked in an office setting (which honestly blows my mind—we all need that experience) but I definitely don’t. I realize how lucky I am to be here every single day and really do try my best to show up in an authentic way and stay true to myself.

I saw a reel the other day that hit me so hard and I will try to explain it…it was a woman scowling and the caption continued to change: when people find out a woman works in the home, when people find out a woman works outside of the home, when people find out a woman stopped taking care of herself, when people find out a woman takes care of herself…you get it.

I realized I stopped needing to worry about what I perceived this idea of ‘accomplishment’ to be in my head and instead lean into what was working in my life at the moment. I have never been someone to care about what people think of me…you kind of have to be to do this job but realized it was me stopping myself.

So, here we are. I am so thankful for my support system and all of you—I truly feel really lucky to be in this place and proud of the business I’ve built from nothing over the past 13 years.

Isn’t nanima the cutest though?

How is everyone? The weather this week is shaping up and our favorite Art Fair is this weekend and the forecast looks PERFECT. We plan on spending as much time outside as possible—as long as our allergies agree ;)

I truly can’t believe Derby Week and Mother’s Day are so close but this happens every year. As always, I am in a dress spiral and will most likely wear something already in my closet but ordered these to try and just grabbed this while it was back in stock as well! Hopefully something works!

I asked you all your favorite Mother’s Day gifts over on stories because let’s be honest, I don’t want to see another ‘gift guide’ of the same things. I compiled everything below and added in a few things I love.

• Massage: this is very dependant on if you are someone who likes massages. Tbh, I hated them before I found one person who was almost more of a physical therapist. Now I’m game so maybe try it out!

• Quality glassware: I don’t know if this is just me but I love to entertain and take my fun glassware very seriously. I have had these bookmarked for so long!

• Staycation with a girlfriend! I love this idea—easy to plan and execute. What’s better than a free day with your friend?

• Luxury loungewear: in breaking news, my favorite material was just released in a short which I bought immediately. Truly, you can’t go wrong with any of their pieces and this half zip is probably my most worn!

• Mahjong Set: I know I’m partial to the hobby but I think we are all seeking out things to do with our family and friends that keep us present and off our phone. Reading a book, needlepoint and Mahjong are that for me and it’s been so fun to play with the kids during the week as well. • Red Light Mask: I know there are a ton on the market but I own and sear by mine. I bought it years ago and then stalked the brand to work with me and give us a code because I believed in it so much. You should always be able to use LOWSTOLUXE to save 10%!

• Jewelry: love the idea of an investment piece like a tennis bracelet or necklace. Mine are all from local jewelers but friends have purchased from here and had great things to say. • Great wallet: I actually use a card case but have been deep diving larger wallets lately. It’s something I think won’t go out of style and wouldn’t mind investing in. I’m pretty over the designer bag marketplace but this is something where I think the quality and craftsmanship matters.

• A good facial or spa treatment: if you are local, I have heard that Woodhouse is lovely! I don’t always love a facial but if it was planned on a day where I had no other responsibilities I would be down.

How are we? Despite a tiny dip in temps last week I think we may finally be in full spring weather mode! I know Brandon Maxwell has been making magic happen over at Walmart for a bit but these new releases are just too good.

Take me back to summer!

How is everyone? After a brief stint of snow we now have a 75° weekend forecast and it is bringing us all back to life. Our weekend is packed with kids sports and fun with friends which in warm weather seems like a joy. Anyone else? The cold misty weather makes me want to stay in my home and never leave.

• I just finished the last installment in my book series, In Your Dreams and it was adorable and will be perfect for your next trip. If you are looking for a spring break read—try this entire series!

• My baby girl has a big performance tomorrow and I cannot wait to go watch her. Is that what today is? Between my trip back from California and daylight savings my body is out of sorts. I talked about this on stories yesterday but I truly feel more exhausted than I did when we returned from India. I can not seem to get enough sleep to catch up but am also not tired at night. A real champagne problem to have but hoping to catch up this weekend.

Our kids are out of school yet again this Friday—at this point it feels like they are rarely there for a full week but I’m hoping to have a chill day at home and catch up on life and work while they mill around.

How is your week holding up? Hopefully rested. Thought we should catch up a little bit:

• Saw several questions come through DM’s about my recent trip to Palm Desert. I have to say, I planned nothing here and just tagged along. These ladies do a tennis trip every year and have tried out lots of things and I was lucky enough to go along this year. It was fabulous! We stayed at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas and I really loved the grounds—they have their own tennis facility and the outdoor spaces are lovely. We played tennis 3 days and attended Indian Wells the following day and it was such a cool experience. It was a great mix of tennis and pro’s at the facility that rotated so while we had favorites (shout out Caleb!) they were all great and we definitely got a workout each day. The tournament overall was a blast and the property is gorgeous but we were there on the first day so I can’t make a real comparison to the US Open. The matches we watched were all different levels and there weren’t as many happening. If I were to revisit the tournament I would probably get a night ticket later in the week. One amazing thing we did get to see was the Eisenhower Cup which was a charity event that paired all the top players in mixed doubles for tiebreak 10’s. It was a blast and the weather in the evening there is pure perfection! Drop any other questions you all have below and I will get back to you!

• Currently reading: In Your Dreams. This is the last installment in the set of 4. I’ve enjoyed each book thus far and think they are the perfect vacation read. Easy, light hearted and romantic in the perfect non-cheesy way. I also think if you picked up between or started anywhere you would enjoy it. I originally grabbed Dear Debbie to read on the trip but devoured it before we even landed in the desert. If you like Freida or thrillers in general, grab it!

• I don’t know what magic Brandon Maxwell has been sprinkling over at Walmart but good lord the new spring collection is perfection. Cotton blends, perfect tailoring and the best color combinations. I rounded up some favorites here but must highlight this adorable pajama set I’ll also use as a swim coverup and my favorite cardigan they released in this new color combo. • Have you watched Love Story? I feel like it’s everywhere which makes me not want to watch but am also slightly intrigued. I am behind the resurgence of 90’s prep fashion trends but I want to hear your thoughts on the actual show!

• Anyone else in a cooking slump? With the glorious arrival of more spring like weather we pivoted our plans this week and this is what is on deck. Good Morning and welcome to another late start week in the bizarre upside-down world that is the start of 2026. Aside from the news being devastating and outrageous every single day, I feel like our kids haven’t been in school or on a real schedule since we came back from India. It seems like every week there is something that prevents them from being in school for a full week but maybe we are getting over that hump?

So excited for my next book.

In case you missed it on stories, I just finished Forget Me Not and loved every minute of it. If you are a fan of twisty thrillers and great storytelling—I highly recommend. It follows the story of Claire Campbell whose older sister, Natalie, disappeared shortly after her eighteenth birthday. The case was swiftly closed and in the decades since, Claire has attempted to forget her past by moving to NYC and pursuing her career as an investigative journalist. An unexpected call from her father forces her to come back home and face it all anew.

Next up is Dear Debbie and if you are a Freida McFadden fan you will be equally as excited as I am to dive into this. I’m going to attempt to hold off starting it till I leave for my trip next weekend but we’ll see if that happens.

Palm Springs here I come…

The countdown is on to my girls tennis trip to Indian Wells! I am beyond excited and just tagging along with friends who did all the hard work of planning the trip. I am more than ready for some solo time, tennis in the mountains and hopefully a dip in the pool. We were supposed to head here for our babymoon before Za arrived but Covid hit hard the week we were set to fly out so never made that trip. Excited to head there for the first time and if you have any restaurant recs downtown please send them my way!

A new runner?

I shared this in My Channel yesterday but I am debating a new runner for the kitchen! Our current is wonderful and I have loved it but it is starting to look a little dingy due to wear and tear, stains galore and sheds more now than before. I’m also just generally craving some color and saw this pattern and fell in love. It’s gorgeous in the review pictures and I’m very close to making it happen today since it’s currently on sale.

Dry Shampoo & Dinners.

I feel like that could actually be a great rebrand for me and an accurate description of my life most days ;) I stumbled upon both these articles this past weekend and bookmarked them so thought they may be interesting to you too. I switched to Crown Affair a while back but loved this article on how to properly use dry shampoo. I know it’s pricey but I have very fine hair that looks oily if I don’t wash it daily and this is the best I’ve found. It makes my hair feel fresh and new without being chalky or heavy.

I’ve also been in a bit of a slump with dinner inspiration and saved this article immediately. I am still surviving on my Factor meals for lunches and credit them with helping me cut out snacking so far in 2026 but also need to do a better job of meal prepping next month. Send any good meal prep recipes you have my way please!

Solo time with our kids.

I didn’t realize this was such an unusual concept but every time I share that we have done things separately with our kids like trips or events I receive messages about how we decided to do it and why. I am a firm believer in spending one-on-one time with our kids and giving them both opportunities to have our undivided attention and time. Zain is a little older so trips solo with him are easier at this age but our kids also have very different interests and we lean into what they want. Zahra would rather spend all day cuddling, building Legos and getting ice cream than wandering around a new city. I’m sure their interests will continue to change and grow but we are meeting them where they are and know how lucky we are to be able to do this with them.

Good morning! Have we all recovered from the Benito Bowl? I admit, I don’t watch much football and could generally care less about The Superbowl. Each year, I tune in solely for the commercials and halftime show. I LOVED IT!!! Why does Ricky Martin look younger every time I see him? I wasn’t totally shocked because he looks amazing in Palm Royale but still.

I’ve been receiving a few DM’s from people asking questions about past topics that they can’t seem to find on my website. I never made an intentional announcement or really mentioned it at all but I took my website offline. The decision came for a myriad of reasons but I had been feeling very uninspired in that space. It’s a bit surreal since I started it in 2013 without telling anyone with no concept of what I was doing. It was once a place I found so much community during trying and also celebratory times but over the years the internet has become such a tricky place.

Years ago, I archived any post that had my children in it or discussed anything I may consider personal. Websites are so deeply accessible and although Substack is technically as well I find the audience much more curated and the possibility of adding even a small paywall makes me more likely to discuss sensitive topics or those close to my heart.

It had been almost a year since I posted on my website and I truly had no desire to again, so why continue to let it live there? I saved everything to a zip file so it’s not lost forever and let it go. It honestly felt like a deep breath!

My one intention this past year and rolling into 2026 is to have more patience. That may sound simple but it means with myself first. Less pressure to get everything done, take care of everyone else and hopefully achieve more balance overall.

This applies to all aspects of my life: our home, my job, my children, my friends and everything else I put unintentional pressure on. I’ve tried to lean more into what is easy and fulfilling: friendships that don’t bring me stress, work projects I feel passionate about and my family.

It sounds silly but sometimes in the hustle of life and always trying to achieve the next goal we lose ourselves and what is important to us. I’m constantly retraining my thought process about what ‘needs to be done’ and allowing myself patience to get there instead of constant stress to do everything and be everywhere.

Maybe one day in the future I will bring the site back but for now I’ll be keeping my focus here because it brings me joy and hope you all are enjoying it as well.

How is everyone? I know that is a tough question to ask when it feels like the world is in a constant chaotic spiral most days. It truly feels like combing through the news is microdosing hell but I want to be informed and get involved where I can. The Traitors

Okay, I have long been a Bravo fan but have never tuned into The Traitors on Peacock. I needed an aimless show to play in the background while I’ve been working on my needlepoint at night and wow—I’m in love. The cast is mostly reality TV stars and I’ll be honest if they aren’t from Bravo, I have no idea who they are. I’ve never watched shows like Survivor but they are all so interesting to watch and the gameplay is wild.

If you are looking for something more substantial, Shrinking is possibly my favorite show ever and the new season is out!!!

Needlepoint

Speaking of needlepoint, I recently read this article in Vogue about the rise of my new hobby and found it so interesting. I really think people are looking for any and every way to stay off their phone and get back to connecting with people. I also think that’s why Mahjong has taken off. I am a huge fan of games but the idea of getting together with friends to chat and use our brains to play a game makes me so genuinely happy.

I know I’ve missed questions but I get all my supplies locally at Stitch—they are so incredibly helpful and lovely! My current pattern is from this Etsy shop and a friend gifted it to me but I think she’s headed on maternity leave. If you are just getting started I’ve had several people tell me this kit was fun and a great place to start!

Palm Springs Trip

A bright light in this month is my trip to Palm Springs at the end of the month! I can take no credit for this trip, it’s a large group of girls and I had nothing to do with organizing it but we are headed to Indian Wells. We are playing tennis for a few days while relaxing and then heading to the tournament on the last day. I am thrilled for some sunshine and alone time by the pool.

Fun fact, this is where Trevor and I were headed before we had Zahra but Covid hit the week before we were supposed to leave and we never made it. If you have recommendations for food, drinks or anything else fun please send them my way.

Weekend Plans & Mid-Winter Break

I am not sure when this happened but suddenly our weekends are filled with kids sports activities and we are both coaching their teams. Don’t get me wrong, I love it and I love getting them out and active but it seems like in the blink of an eye it’s taken over our weekends. We also have two of our favorite annual events this weekend that both landed next to each other thanks to the snow storm.

Our friends from Alaska host a family Fur Rendezvous party and if you didn’t know this was a thing, welcome. It’s an annual tradition in Alaska and the kids always have the best time. We also have our friends Karaoke Night which will most certainly not include our children and it remains one of my favorite nights ever. If you have any new hits I should add to the request line, let me know.

On top of our crazy busy weekend the kids start break AGAIN next week and will get out of school on Wednesday. Is it just me or does it feel like our kids are never in school?

Swimwear that doesn’t make me uncomfortable

I’ve shared for years that this line is my go-to. It’s affordable, comfortable, high quality and not too cheeky!!! Truly, it seems like mission impossible to find a swimsuit bottom that isn’t exposing half my behind while also not being a swim skirt. There are so few things in between. How is everyone’s short week going? I feel like we finally got back in a groove after returning from India and the kids are out again today. We are going to lay low after an extremely busy Sunday full of playdates and basketball games and it will be much needed.

I am finally catching up on the last two Q&A’s I’ve shared — I couldn’t get the first to open and finally did so figured I would combine them!

How did you figure out what was the right age for Zain and Zahra to visit India?

Honestly, we’ve never had the opportunity till now. Neither of our jobs would allow for the length of vacation we wanted and then once I went part-time with dentistry Trevor was still on call constantly and never able to take vacation when he actually wanted — certainly not over the kids break. If you missed it, Trevor started a new job last year and we decided we may not have the opportunity again to make the trip with my parents and just went for it.

We hope to take them more than once (I went several times growing up and had a lot of family there) but their ages felt right to handle the flight and remember the trip.

What ages did your parents move to the US and why? Are all their siblings still there?

My dad immigrated to the US first at 30 to further his education — he wanted to complete residency here and did end up doing that MD Anderson. My mom was still in India and they would meet at my aunt’s place in London where he eventually proposed. After he had secured a job in a lab, was in training and they were married she immigrated.

Their siblings were kind of split up everywhere — my dad had two in India and one in the US. My mom had siblings in the US, India and Dubai so we saw aunts, uncles and cousins very often.

Which airline did you fly and would you recommend it?

We flew Delta the whole way and while going went through Paris (Air France) and while returning went through Amsterdam (KLM). I think both are nice and we are frequent Delta customers so take advantage of the premium benefits. One thing that did irritate me traveling on KLM is that they have the large seat dividers that you can’t lift up so the kids couldn’t lay down flat to sleep.

If I had no allegiance to an airline, I have heard that Emirates is amazing!

Flight tips that worked for your kids on this long trek?

I don’t know if it was mental but I found that the kids were easier on these 10hr flights then they are on 2 hour flights. Maybe I mentally prepared them for how long the trek was going to be or that international flights just make it so much more comfortable. The planes are bigger so they have more space, can get up and walk around, were constantly fed and have their own screen. They slept for one of the long flights both ways and played games or watched a movie the rest of the other.

Our plane must haves were these wipes, the inflatable foot rest, good headphones and this charger. I also packed new Lego’s and a few other activities for the layovers to keep them off screens so they didn’t get tired of them.

How did you avoid getting sick?

Well, we didn’t. We each had a day we were unwell but it was a viral bug going around that my cousins and friends also had not anything we ate. In general, I’ve only ever drank bottled or filtered water in India, don’t eat anything from street vendors or any raw fruit.

How did you pack for so many days?

We packed very minimally and essentially packed one weeks worth of clothes for everyone and then just washed them and reused. I also packed a very large carry on to survive the flights and shared that all here!

Black tie wedding dress that is forgiving in the stomach?

I have worn this dress in different prints several times and it is very flattering and forgiving — plus it’s 50% off for some reason!!! Also love this and this.

Can you reshare the oversized tee from Amazon?

How is everyone? I truly thought it was Friday today so what a delight that I have a few more days to get caught up on work and life before a long weekend. It’s wild that we just got back to school and into a mild rhythm and the kids will be out again next Monday but isn’t this the story every January?

Often times at the start of the year I look back at what you all enjoyed the most the previous year and things you couldn’t live without. I’m still very interested in that so if you found something off my recommendation please let it below in the comments, I love reading them!

Today I thought it would be fun to look back at what changed my life for the better over the last year. I know I will forget something but these things are what came to my mind immediately:

• Retinol Hand Cream: seems very niche but if anything has elevated my nightstand, it’s this. The jar is gorgeous and it feels like an investment at first but the refills are reasonable. It’s helped my dry hands, wrinkles and cuticles which were in dire need since I refuse to get manicures.

• Mineral Sun Glow: You are likely tired of hearing about this but I couldn’t live without it. I was using a few different tinted sunscreens before and still will if I don’t want to waste the good stuff but this is elite. I notice how smooth and non-heavy the consistency is when I go back and use another one. It’s light, glowy, adds actual color without making you look like tan mom AND it’s clean with a great SPF.

• Salt & Stone Deodorant: This was a later in the year discovery but it took me by surprise. I sweat a lot! I have been using this charcoal bar to rid any kind of odor and will often alternate in men’s deodorant to help. Well, I decided to try this based on a friend’s recommendation fully expecting it not to work. To my suprise, I NEVER SMELL. Is that gross? I don’t know but I am genuinely shocked how there is never an odor not even after sweating through a 3 hour tennis match. The Bergamot & Hinoki scent is my favorite :)

• Longchamp Épure XS Tote Bag: A semi spur of the moment purchase while in NYC this year with a girlfriend and one I have been so pleased with. This was the only bag I packed for India and used every single day. It’s the perfect combination: not too small and can fit all the necessities, has an optional crossbody strap that’s adjustable, is made of quality leather that can handle some throwing around, easy to dress up or down and has an interior pocket and snap so nothing falls out. I got so many DM’s about this but didn’t want to reply while away because it’s been sold out for ages but looks like it’s finally back in stock!

• Air Essentials: Truly, anything in the line is a win for me. I’ve converted my mother who basically lived in their pieces in India and text me yesterday to order another set in a new color and all my friends. It’s silky soft and elevated enough that you would never feel like you are in sweats. It’s also elite to travel in and they have petite and tall sizing.

• 400 Thread Count Sheet: Not necessarily new because I’ve been buying them for a few years but definitely one of my smartest repurchases of the year. I buy them for the kids rooms in fun prints as well — Zahra has the tulips and I’m obsessed.

• Booty Boost Leggings: I’ve tried a lot of leggings over the years and found both Amazon and Varley pairs I like but they are not very compressive and tend to stretch out over time and fall down. After putting this pair on my body, I will not go back!!! They are available in different lengths and hold everything in. I would normally not feel comfortable just walking around in leggings and a short top but these feel substantial and more like a real pant. Highly recommend!!!

• The Perfect Vintage Jean: These are likely my most worn jeans that I describe as ‘mom jeans’ for the sole reason that they are comfortable and don’t feel constricting. I can stay in them all day and never feel uncomfortable — size up if between.

• LED Mask: I’ve owned this for years but this year they released the updated version and it will forever be my favorite beauty device. It’s easy to use and stay consistent with and I’ve seen real results. Try LOWSTOLUXE for a discount!

• Snif Candles: I love a Target candle and find them well worth the money but if you are looking for something slightly more elevated I discovered these this past year and find them worth every penny. The seasonal scents are so good!

• Greta Ballet Flat: I have a few shoes that I reach for constantly and these flats are one of them. They needed no break-in and go with just about everything — size down if between.

• 90’s Crewneck Tee: This may seem like an odd thing to come up but I finally found my perfect tee. It’s fitted but not too tight, has a nice ribbed texture and is the perfect layering piece. I reach for it to wear on it’s own or layered under sweaters and jackets multiple times a week.

• Levis’ Cinch Barrel Leg Jeans: I’ve messaged so many of you about these but wow. It was one of 3 pairs of pants I packed for India and lately I have been thinking about ordering a back-up pair in case they decide to discontinue them. They are perfect in every way and the most comfortable!

• Crochet Cover Up: The one swimsuit cover-up I’ve reached for again and again and hasn’t disappointed me. If you have a warm weather trip coming up, you won’t regret it.

• Barrel Leg Sweatpants: A lounge must have I couldn’t survive this season without — size up if between!

• Collared Pullover Sweater: I stumbled on this long ago in store and couldn’t try it on quick enough. It’s insanely soft and has held up well all season in the wash — not sure why it’s on clearance but lucky you. It’s only $13 now!

So happy to see you all again and be here. We truly had a wonderful time in India and I am forever grateful we got to experience the trip with my parents and the kids all together. I had wanted it for a long time and it just never worked out with work schedules and timing but when I realized we would have the opportunity this break, we went for it.

I was nervous about how the kids would do on the flights but honestly if you are contemplating the trip, don’t stress about it. International flights are much more comfortable for them in my opinion. They can settle in, they have a screen to watch movies and shows on, they get constant food and snacks and aren’t bothered by the space because they are small! I think I had a harder time with getting comfortable then they did. We also tried to make sure one of the longer 10 hour flights each way would be mostly sleeping for them so it cut down on the restlessness and I saved some of our lifesavers like the blow up foot rest here.

While we had the greatest time, I am so happy to be home!!! 3 weeks is a long long time to be away and Trevor headed back after 2 so we were missing him also. I am going to try to answer a few of the Q&A questions you all submitted tomorrow over on stories so check back there!

Let’s get into some 2026 thoughts:

• I immediately reactivated my Factor membership when I arrived home. I do 4 meals a week and usually go in and edit the meals. I try to pick high-protein and calorie smart if it fits my tastes. They have so many options and I just find their meals to fill me up with whole foods which is half the battle. While I would love to cook lunch everyday it just won’t happen and I’ll end up snacking all day. I couldn’t believe it but when I returned from India my clothes actually fit better despite me feeling like all I did was eat. I’m sure it’s because I didn’t eat any processed food or snack at all because I was eating fresh ingredients and whole foods all day. Trying to be more conscious of this going into the new year while not getting carried away, a lady likes her chips.

• I flew through the two cheesy holiday books I took to India and just picked up my first real book of 2026. Starting Forget Me Not this week if I can stay up past 7pm and very excited about it.

• I know some people like to use January as a restart with their wardrobe but I’m here to tell you it’s okay if you don’t. I had big plans to clean out a few things and get dressed every single day and here we are almost half way through the month and I’m most excited about this activewear that arrives today.

• My conscious effort to be less available has begun! Well I don’t know if that sounds exactly right but if I took away one thing away from our trip to India it was the reminder of how valuable just being is. I had decided not to work while away: I didn’t create content, I didn’t record a single outfit, I didn’t have anything new or special to share and it felt great to decompress a bit. There is always a lingering feeling (especially with this job) but also in general as a woman and mother that I could be doing more. Answering an email, creating a collage, throwing in a load of laundry, getting an errand checked off and so on. But why? I would like to not do it all more in 2026. Does that make sense?

• Lastly, I want to touch on what’s been happening in our country lately. One of the most shocking things about returning to the US was returning to the news and the constant and extreme barrage of emotions that comes with it. I shared this on stories over the weekend but try to remember that just because something isn’t a topic of conversation on a social platform every single day doesn’t mean it isn’t on someone’s heart and they aren’t involved in ways we can’t all see. For me personally, I prefer to keep things positive and light here because I feel the heaviness everywhere else. I’m sad and horrified about where we are right now and deeply hope we will pull through.

Well, we were back in school for a day before the snow arrived and now it feels like Covid times again. I won’t lie, the powdery snow outside while the Christmas trees are on is quite lovely. I suppose it is nice to get a little winter wonderland in before we leave for India at the end of the month!

My goal is to slowly start packing today and order anything we may still need for traveling. I had posted a question box last week and I know several of you had asked for me to share the answers so I saved most things submitted or that I have set aside here. I was on the fence about the inflatable cushions for the kids legs but so many of you said they were lifesavers so I’m glad I asked — immediately ordered!

Let’s get into life lately:

• Girls Holiday Dinner: our annual holiday dinner is this weekend and I can’t wait. I planned it early this year so it didn’t feel so rushed and/or chaotic with other plans and I’m thrilled with that decision. I am wearing this maroon dress I shared a while ago but just stumbled upon this new release and need someone to get it! We are headed to Sake a Gogo and I’ve only been once but the food was absolutely delicious.

• With so many holiday, work and family events coming up I thought this article on Ways To Gracefully Change the Subject was quite fitting and helpful.

• Holiday Books are en route! The best part of the holiday season? Reading semi-cheesy books that bring joy. I love this list by Beach Reads and Bubbly and can vouch for the Winter Street Series and The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year both being very enjoyable. This season I added two Courtney Walsh books to my cart: Christmas with a Crank and A Cross Country Christmas.

Is everyone in a food coma on the couch, I hope? We are currently at my in-laws and the kids are having a blast with their cousins. We celebrated Christmas early yesterday since we leave for India in a few weeks — don’t even get me started on my low key anxiety about getting ready for the trip.

Red Light Mask & Neck - finally 20% off!!!

• Did you watch The Ozarks? If you enjoyed it, we have been watching Black Rabbit on Netflix and it is intense and addicting in the same way. It stars Jason Bateman and Jude Law and I just noticed Laura Linney and Jason Bateman are producers on different episodes which makes so many of the similarities make sense.

• With the recent snowfall and lack of sun, this butter yellow sweater has brought me back to life. I am a hard stand for their knits and find them to last a lifetime while still being so affordable.

Hello friends & happy Tuesday!

How is everyone doing? I feel like we are full steam ahead into the holidays and I think it feels even more present this year with our trip to India. Since we will be gone over Christmas, we are celebrating with Trevor’s family over Thanksgiving so I keep reminding myself we need to get presents in order ASAP. Is this pillow not so good???

It is one of my absolute favorite holidays and I pride myself on our family costume each year and can’t wait to show you what we have up our sleeve this weekend. Not surprising in this season of life but this week is jam packed: I feel like work has ramped up since we are deep in Q4, the kids have so many activities at school I want to be present for like the halloween parade and class parties and we have Diwali celebrations this weekend. Which reminds me I need to try all the bangles on Zahra and see what she will agree to — send help.

Let’s get into some fun updates…

• I just finished The Tenant and generally enjoy Freida’s books but this was a miss for me. I didn’t particularly love the writing style possibly because of the male perspective and the plot seemed frustrating. I will say it was very twisty and I didn’t see the twists coming but it just didn’t satisfy me. Starting this over the weekend if I can hide from my family long enough…

• Family pajamas season has arrived and I’m here for it. We will be celebrating early since we leave for India as soon as the kids get out of school in December so I am fully embracing the season right now. These are a steal and the fabric is wonderful — I am definitely washing on delicate to maintain but highly recommend.

• Can we talk about Nobody Wants This? Overall, I enjoyed the season overall but I won’t lie — both the main characters started to get on my nerves. Mostly Kristen Bell and I couldn’t quite put my finger on what exactly it was but I found her irritating and immature during several episodes. Am I the only one???

• My velvet mary jane’s may be my favorite fall shoe as of late and I’m sad they keep selling out. I did find this much more affordable alternative you guys went crazy for and have received lots of great feedback!
