Beginnings are hard.

A blinking cursor on a fresh blank page can be intimidating for even seasoned writers. Here are some tips from our Partnerships team on how to go about your first Substack post:

1. Why this, why now

I have been a writer for a long time. Again and again I see the same tired ‘advice’ or types of publication trotting out tropes and ideas that would have been dated decades ago. This is my time to be true to myself. We all deserve better.

2. What kind of community are you looking to build here

This is safe and inclusive but I would kindly ask people to think twice about writing or commenting if they have an axe to grind or a massive chip on their shoulder concerning any matter.

3. Be specific

I will be posting on Sunday. It is technically my ‘day off’ but the ability to write is my gift so I will be freely sharing it (in the first instance). Food courtesy of a friend.
