I’ve decided to just write something freeform for this instalment, perhaps with some updates here and there of where you can find things I’m up to, celebrating life’s achievements, and if anything, I simply wish to record my moments of momentum from the year so far, and bring up to speed anyone who wishes to have a nosey or join in my attempt to celebrate my wins.

First up, let’s get this week’s energy reading out of the way. It appears to have been all about setting boundaries, declaring where you stand and how others are allowed to treat you before you sound the alarm, if only to yourself. Define your outline and let yourself see where others are placed around you. Proceed accordingly from there.

Next up: how’s your heart? I published some poetry this year with my university’s literary society journal, Enigma. My first publication other than my own, and I have to say it has my heart. The cover is lovely and I’m so very looking forward to sinking my teeth into the rest of the body of work submitted by other writers.

It turns out it’s worth keeping those old notebooks you scribbled down streams of consciousness into two years earlier while you were going through a breakup, or any life transition for that matter. Submit them to be published and see what happens, that’s what I did. Don’t burn those pages just yet.

The publication was a limited run I believe, and I managed to pick up the last copy myself, so you’ll just have to read it online for now, otherwise, get in touch with Exeter Bookbag and ask them to let you know when it’s back in stock.

So what cards came up this week? We had the four of cups and the queen of cups in reverse. So with the four of cups, it's an invitation to rest and reflect on what it is that we're currently feeling.

There's a sense of acknowledging, we don't have to put everything on our plate all at once. We can decide what our capacity is. And if we already have a lot to process, we can take our time and pause we don't necessarily need to take on more emotional baggage, more emotional labour, and that involves boundary setting.

The four of cups ties quite nicely in with the queen of cups, considering the queen of cups uses the emotional waters to understand their intuition, to set boundaries around how much they are impacted by other people's emotions and discern what is our own as well as what is other’s.

So this week, under this full moon eclipse you might find a lot of change happening, especially internally with the Full Moon in Libra. Balancing of the scales, this sense of understanding what is ours and what isn't, as we begin to sort through our emotions around certain changes that are coming in our lives, perhaps ending of cycles, beginnings of new things, especially as you move into the new year, the new astrological year.

So this week we had hyacinth come up, and hyacinth‘s card is related to waves of emotion. In the reading, we look at how we feel, in relationship to the ebb and flow of our emotions, especially grief as they come up throughout our lives.

So this week, channelling a message in relation to the energy of what we might be experiencing: This feels like an invitation to reflect on how even if we are experiencing incredible pain or challenges and our emotions in relation to those challenges.

We're being invited to reflect on how we can keep moving forward. And by keep moving forward, it doesn't just mean by pushing forward with our goals and tasks, but it could be an association of reflection.

How do we reflect on what we're feeling and bring a sense of kindness and compassion to the self? When we do encounter difficult emotions, if we feel that we need to keep pushing ahead?

So the ace of wands to begin with is the element of fire. It is the initial card in the wand suit. It's the beginning of the phase of exerting our willpower to create change in our reality, to take our ideas of inspiration, and see how we can impact on environment in ways that support our ideas, and those of the community as well.

There's a feeling of knowing that individual expression is not just for your benefit, it's also for the benefit of those that are in your circle. How can you allow yourself to work on projects or become more developed in ideas and the expression of your creativity in a way that does support those around you as much as it supports yourself?

So this goes hand in hand with the Justice card that comes up, a major arcana card relating to the balancing of scales, the righting of perceived wrongs. 

What is it like to acknowledge where justice is being served in our lives? Maybe it's a gentle acknowledgment of things that we might have felt have been going one way, now the tide is turning and we're acknowledging where things are going in our favour, as well as how we are contributing to that, what actions are we taking?

So this week, we had two minor arcana [not] court cards come out, we had the two of Pentacles and the two of swords. So two twos and we have the earth element of Pentacles and the element of swords.

So when the two of Pentacles came out, it feels like this is an opportunity to reflect on how we balance the scales in our physical world.

So where are we currently expanding our energy in spaces and places that might be draining our resources, either physically, or when I say physically that could be our physical belongings or finances and our money, or it could also be our physical resources, our energy in the body and our exertion of the energy.

So it's an opportunity to reflect on where are the areas in our life this week that we might want to take stock and decide if we are able to balance the scales when it comes to how we are spending our energy, who we are spending our energy with, and how sometimes we might feel drained, energetically or we might feel physically exhausted after we've been in certain environments.

And it's not necessarily having to make a decision about these things just yet. But it is an invitation just to acknowledge them. It's a chance for us to do a bit of an audit. When it comes to how we're operating through our physical world.

Where do we go? What do we do each day? What are the everyday tasks that the minor arcana alludes to? The physical environment of our earth element speaks to our homes. It speaks to our work and things that we do on a regular basis.

So this week we had the energy of meditation come out in the card pull. And that is the equivalent of the Hanged one in the traditional tarot deck. 

So the Hanged one and the four of Wands, so the four wands is related to the energy of fire. It's a stable energy, the element of fire in the formation of four is almost grounded energy, and it's an opportunity to invite celebration.

So when we have the hanged one and celebratory  four ones together, how can we acknowledge the desire and the maybe unexpressed or unrealized desire to enjoy being in between where we were and where we are going?

So there's a sense of we are hanging in the balance, we might find that discomfort arising, and we might find it uncomfortable to be stationary, either in the mind or in an emotional process.

This week we had the nymph of cups, which is the equivalent of the page of cups. So the element of water and really a sort of student of reflecting on our emotional experience. It's that feeling of the first look, the first glance at what we're feeling. 

This card came up with Reclamation, which is the equivalent of the devil in this deck. So on first thoughts and on first perception of this reading, there's a feeling around a gentle wading or a gentle swimming into our emotional depths. 

It's being very, not cautious, but very step by step, allowing ourselves to gently move into the emotional waters of our unconscious mind, using techniques using practices that we find useful to access these tools, access these parts of ourselves that are sharing information with us that we might not have seen or might not have accessed for quite some time.

So the devil in this deck is speaks of Reclamation and the ability for us to really restore and receive what we might not have been acknowledging when it comes to hidden truths. And this is not to say that we are judging those experiences, but it is an offering to reflect on how we place those things in our lives.

And this week we had potential, which in this deck, the Intuitive Night Goddess deck is the fool in the Major Arcana. So it's an initiatory card, the very beginning of the entire deck. The major arcana is often referred to as the Fool's Journey. So it is essentially the hero's journey and the fool is the initiate, the initiatory figure.

So, potential or the fool refers to our leap of faith, our beginning, our entry into the unknown. Where does it take us from here? We're following our gut instincts. We're following the path of least resistance and we're navigating in a way that we're trusting.

There's so much trust happening at the moment. There's an ability for us to leap without looking, knowing that we will be caught. Knowing that we have the chance to find our way as we move forward in the distance.

There are tools arriving, there are paths and initiations, we will move through in order to achieve what we are intending to achieve and receive what we are intending to receive.

Especially if that is learning, especially if that is emotional experience, emotional understanding about how we navigate the world.

What we have here in the card pull is the Reclamation card of the Intuitive Night Goddess Tarot, which corresponds to The Devil and the Four of Wands.

So both of these cards came out reversed. And I'm grateful to see the synchronicity between the devil card and Capricorn, as we have a corresponding star sign or astrological sign in Capricorn, and the devil.

When people see the devil card, it can often provoke a sense of fear and my favourite thing is to reassure and to acknowledge that this card is not one to be feared.

It can most definitely access our shadow. It can most definitely access the parts of ourselves we might not identify with, and shine a light on acknowledging where we might have attachments or there might be parts of our life that we might feel triggering, or, for want of a better word, we might be addicted to certain things.

Knowing that these feelings aren't always nice to feel, the devil is an opportunity to acknowledge where we can free ourselves and especially seeing it in a reverse.

When it's in reverse, there’s an opportunity to investigate if this energy is moving under the radar. Is it in our unconscious mind ready for us to be acknowledging it and for it to be revealed? Or is it also acting in the opposite energy of the card itself?

So when we see these cards in reverse, I always encourage everyone to use their own intuition when it comes to interpreting.

So Mercury's been in retrograde this past month or so (since December 13th). And January 1st was the day that mercury stationed direct. So, as it is the energy of communication, and there's a sense of mischief making as well, a sense of creativity and idea generation, we might feel that we're starting to be able to play a little bit more when it when it comes to creative ideas.

“Hi. So welcome to this week's extended energy reading for the full moon.

And this Full Moon is in Cancer in Western astrology. So using the tropical astrology placements, so you might resonate with this.

I personally feel that this Full Moon is particularly Cancer-like which tends to be around the energy of emotions trapped beneath the surface of a hard outer shell like the crab of Cancer. So looking at this energy with these two cards that came up in the weekly reading: the healer and the river.

It's quite interesting to contemplate these cards from a standpoint of this Full Moon considering the idea of emotions being the element of water in traditional tarot deck.

And also, when we consider the flow of emotions through the bodily system, it's no wonder that we have a representation of water.

So guiding ourselves towards the sense of healing that is coming up through this week. We have an understanding of the flow that takes place. When we are approaching our emotional experience.

We can relate to our emotions in many different ways and sometimes we are feeling a little bit like we just simply don't want to feel them. And this can result in a blockage, it can result in not wanting to express or not wanting to acknowledge certain emotions.

So it really is about this week, giving ourselves space and time to allow that water to flow. There's no shame that comes from feeling. I think in our western traditional society, we certainly feel like we shouldn't be feeling, we shouldn't be expressing emotion.

So even if you find yourself in public or in society, finding yourself in social situations, expressing emotion, it's all allowed, we’re all allowed to be able to express emotions, it is what we're built for.

So even if you find yourself in community, sharing your emotions, know that you can be held in this process, especially if you find a safe community to do so.

I think it was Brené Brown who said the vulnerability without boundaries is dangerous and we have to find a sense of safety when it comes to being vulnerable.

It's acknowledging that the importance of being able to share is supported when we feel a sense of safety. So doing our best to find that safety this week.

What is it like to acknowledge when we need to express something, even if that‘s just in the quiet of writing something down or speaking it out into the ether?

Perhaps make your own voice note and give yourself permission to speak out whatever it is you're feeling.

So then we come to the river. The river is also a boundary. It's a crossing point at which we become able to observe the past and the future in the present moment, especially with the new year coming up, especially in this western Gregorian calendar. We have the New Year at the end of December and the beginning of January.

So you might not ascribe to that new year, you might experience a different new year, but the energy of the river feeling very much like a crossing point, a threshold of the boundary where our emotions really flowing through that system.

What is it like to take a leap of faith either into the waters of the river to flow down the stream, or across the river, jumping across onto the other dry land, marking that territory that you've crossed, marking this boundary and acknowledging for yourself just what it is like to take a leap of faith.

So whatever we're feeling right now, whatever's coming up for you under this full moon, reaching out to your supported networks and your community, allowing yourself to express your emotional experience and mark the boundary crossing, at which you give yourself permission to feel what it is you're ready to heal.

Hello, Welcome to the weekly energy reading that coincides with winter solstice. So, when I pulled these cards, there's also a message around the perseverance or the sense of stamina that we can introduce when it comes to working on things that are passions of the heart.

Personally, it's been taking me quite a while under this Mercury Retrograde to access a sense of flow that isn't methodical and step by step. So it feels like it's very important to talk about how methodical step by step process, ensuring you're going over things taking your time is very important right now.

So if you feel like you're wading through mud, it's okay. You're in the space that you're meant to be in. It might just feel that you're taking a little bit longer to move through it.

We are encountering the Mercury Retrograde actually stationing retrograde tomorrow on 13th of December as well as the new moon so it could feel that you're attempting to initiate new experiences while being held back.

It's definitely a period of reflection, reassessment and renegotiation as well, often using words beginning ‘r-e’, ‘re’ before you rush into something during Mercury Retrograde go over contracts, double check plans and reassess what is needed.

So, this newsletter was basically to sum up the first kind of week of doing 30 days of nature's voice on Instagram. It is a daily challenge that I'm setting myself to pull a tarot card from my nature's voice tarot deck.

It's a celebration of the kind of soft launch I would have to say, of nature's voice, it’s a tarot deck that I've been working on for quite some time, and I've been taking forever to get it out the door. And maybe that's divine timing. Maybe that is something to do with making sure I find the correct publisher.

But there was a feeling in me at the beginning of December. So the day before the first of December, that I want to be able to put this in people's hands if they want to use it. It's also a great way for people to interact with the work that I create.

So basically, each day throughout December so far, we're on day nine, this is being published on day nine. So tomorrow will be day 10. And each day I am pulling a card giving you a little bit of insight into the nature that is within this deck and seeing what the cards have to say.

I do feel that each tarot deck has its own energy, and also behaves in its own way, it’s really fascinating to me to think of the animism of objects that we have a relationship with.

Not only do we imbue our energy within those objects, but I believe they behave in certain ways, especially when we interact with them.

So this tarot deck for example, tends to for me anyway, it tends to spring cards out onto the floor or the table when I'm shuffling. And it's rare that that happens with me, like usually, a card might show up as I'm shuffling but it's less likely to flick or jump out of the deck and maybe it's the size of this.

I'm currently using a prototype of this first edition deck and basically there are smaller cards actually the size of business cards. The first edition itself will be larger, so it will not be a mini deck but the cards just jump, they just fly, and I kind of find, I find it kind of exciting that this deck seems to be doing that.

So hopefully that'll be the energy of the future card decks as well. Because I kind of enjoy that. But for now here is a summary of the first nine days of 30 days of nature's voice. If you haven't been following along, you can pick any of the days that you're drawn to. It is not specific to the day that it was released. This energy is timeless.

It is an opportunity to share a card reading so whenever you encounter them, it doesn't have to be on the day that it was released and take what resonates and leave the rest. These are general readings.

We are looking at the cards of the Ace of Swords and the queen of cups which came up reversed. If you haven't already watched the video from this week you can do so in the previous post. 

So the Ace of Swords is the element of Air. It’s the thought to the intellect, the mind when we consider the mind being of the brain so a little bit detached from the mind-body. 

But being able to understand what it's like to sharpen that sword to sharpen our intellect with truth and clarity, to give ourselves permission to hear our thoughts and listen to them. Know that they aren't always our truths. 

They aren't necessarily the truth about who we are especially if you're having sharp thoughts about yourself or about your abilities this week.

About the deck:

The first in a series of decks by Tap Into Tarot, the Nature’s Voice Tarot Deck features beautiful animal photography on each card, communicating the magic and mystery of the natural world. Each of the minor arcana suits are based on a family of animals associated with the elements of Fire (Lions), Earth (Deer), Air (Birds of Prey), and Water (Otters). The major arcana sees different members of the animal kingdom and aspects of their environment depicting the wisdom of each card.

Why create this deck?

The intention behind this debut deck in the Tap Into Tarot series is to invite the reader to reflect on their relationship to the other animals who inhabit this earth. In our modern and fast paced lives, tarot is just one example of how we can align with our own intuition, and this message is amplified by drawing on the essence of nature to remind ourselves that we are part of the same ecosystem. 

For people already slow living, this beautiful deck allows for a deepening into the language of the elements and their respective associations, giving us the tools to connect to the magic of that which is all around us.
