What actually helped: batching 5–6 posts at the start of each month and scheduling them out. It removes the weekly pressure and keeps your readers from forgetting you exist.

2. Create content people share, not just content people “find useful”

There’s a difference. Shareable content isn’t useless - it just makes the problem feel obvious. Your reader should see themselves in it. That means writing about what’s happening right now, or what they’re quietly worried about next.

3. Develop a sense for where the market is heading

This sounds harder than it is. The longer you work in your niche, the more you start to feel which way the wind is blowing. Share your take on where your industry will be in five years. That’s not prediction - that’s perspective. And perspective is rare.

4. Make your content easy to absorb

“Write like you talk” is good advice - until you have a lot to say. Conversational tone alone won’t save a dense wall of text. I started using visuals: if I can show what I mean in a graphic, I do. People skim long articles. They save images. Let them take something with them even if they don’t read every word - like I did in this post.

Write in your own voice

I’m not saying don’t use AI to edit or translate. I’m saying: let the core idea come from you, in your words. In a world drowning in AI-generated content, a human voice is actually a competitive advantage. Use it.

1. The number that makes the method look impossible

The structure: [Specific result] + [counterintuitive method that produced it]

This works because the result gives you credibility instantly, and the method breaks the reader’s mental model. They need to reconcile the two — so they read.

How to use it:

The tension lives in the gap between what happened and how. Pick a result people want, then attach the method they wouldn’t expect.

• “We closed 11 enterprise deals last quarter. Our sales team sent zero cold emails.”

• “Our onboarding email gets a 58% reply rate. It’s 4 sentences long.”

• “I’ve been publishing on Substack for 8 months. I’ve never once written about what’s trending.”

The specificity is doing most of the work here. “A lot of enterprise deals” does nothing. “11 deals, zero cold emails” creates a question the reader has to answer.

2. The data hook

The structure: I analyzed [absurdly large number of things]. Here’s what I found.

This works because data implies work — and work implies credibility. You’re not sharing an opinion. You’re reporting findings. And findings feel different from takes.

How to use it:

You don’t need a research team. You need a dataset and a non-obvious conclusion.

• “I reviewed 300 SaaS pricing pages from companies that hit $1M ARR in the last two years. Less than 20% showed a customer quote anywhere near the buy button.”

• “I went through 6 months of our support tickets - 1,200 conversations. The same five questions came up in 70% of them. None of them were in our FAQ.”

• “I looked at the last 50 LinkedIn posts from B2B founders with under 2,000 followers that got 500+ likes. 43 of them started with a personal failure, not a lesson.”

The conclusion has to be non-obvious. If everyone already suspected the answer, there’s no tension and no reason to keep reading.

3. The fear hook with a small ask

The structure: [Something you might lose right now] + [the fix that takes less than 5 minutes]

This works because loss aversion is real - people act faster to avoid losing something than to gain something equivalent. But you have to pair the fear with a low barrier. Otherwise it feels overwhelming and people scroll past.

How to use it:

Make the loss specific and imaginable. Pair it with something concrete and fast.

• “Your transactional emails might be going to spam right now and your open rate dashboard would never show it. Here’s how to check in two minutes.”

• “If Substack shut down tomorrow, would you still have your subscriber list? Here’s the one setting most people never touch.”

• “The campaign you spent three weeks building could be targeting the wrong audience because of one default setting in Meta Ads Manager. Takes 90 seconds to fix.”

“Your business could be at risk” is too vague to feel real. “The campaign you spent three weeks on” - that’s specific enough to sting.

4. The experience gap

The structure: I’ve done this at [credible scale]. Here’s what I learned when I did it with [nothing].

This works because it answers the question the reader didn’t ask out loud: why should I listen to you? Stating the credential upfront doesn’t feel like bragging - it feels like context. And the contrast creates the hook.

How to use it:

The gap between the two situations is where the insight lives. Big budget vs. no budget. Large team vs. solo. Then vs. now.

• “I’ve written launch copy for SaaS products with six-figure ad budgets. And I’ve helped a solo founder launch to 200 people on a waitlist. The difference in what actually drove conversions was almost nothing.”

• “I ran content for a team of 12. Now I run it alone. The output is the same. Here’s what I cut.”

• “We grew our first product to $500K ARR with a dedicated marketing team. The second one hit the same number with a part-time contractor and a Notion doc. What changed wasn’t the budget.”

The contrast is the hook. State both sides clearly, then let the implication sit there readers will lean in to find out how.

5. The quiet accusation

The structure: You’re doing [specific thing] and it’s why [the result you’re not getting].

This works because it’s specific enough to feel personal. Readers don’t see themselves in vague critique. But the moment you describe exactly what they’re doing, they recognize themselves - and now they need to know what to do instead.

How to use it:

The softer version works for most audiences. Name the behavior without making it an insult.

• “Most early-stage founders write content their investors would find impressive. That’s not who’s going to buy from them.”

• “You’re probably measuring your content by how much engagement it gets. That’s why you can’t tell if it’s actually working.”

• “A lot of B2B marketers spend 80% of their content budget on the top of the funnel and then wonder why sales says leads aren’t converting.”

The harder version - “you’re doing it wrong” - works when your audience already trusts you. Lead with the observation, not the judgment. The reader should feel seen, not attacked.

6. The aggregated wisdom hook

The structure: [Number] [credentialed people] share [the one thing] for [the specific situation you’re in]

This works because it front-loads authority - not one person’s opinion, but a pattern across many. The reader isn’t betting on you. They’re getting something closer to a consensus.

How to use it:

The specificity of both the people and the situation is what makes this format feel useful instead of generic.

• “I asked 12 content leads at B2B SaaS companies that cut their publishing frequency in half. Every single one said the same thing happened to their traffic.”

• “20 founders who bootstrapped past $1M answered one question: what was the last thing you stopped doing before things clicked? The answers were almost identical.”

• “I interviewed 8 marketers who moved from agency to in-house at early-stage startups. The adjustment they didn’t see coming was the same across all of them.”

“Almost identical” and “every single one” are doing a lot here - they hint at a pattern, which is the hook inside the hook. The reader wants to know what the pattern is.

The thing all six have in common

Every hook on this list creates a gap. Between the result and the method. Between the assumption and the data. Between what the reader is doing and what they should be doing.

Spend five minutes on LinkedIn and you’ll see the same promises everywhere:

“I’ll boost your sales by 30%.”

“10x your leads with cold outreach.”

“Get 100x better ROI with AI.”

They sound impressive - until you think about them for more than five seconds. The problem isn’t the number itself. It’s the lack of context behind it. If you promise to increase someone’s conversion rate by 20%, what exactly is that based on? Their current performance? Their last campaign? An industry benchmark you pulled from a report?

A 2% conversion rate can be extremely profitable for one company and a disaster for another. Even a 20% increase means very little if the starting point was poor.

Without a baseline, the percentage is just decoration.

What a B2B founder actually hears

They’re not thinking:

“Perfect. A 20% increase is exactly what we need.”

They’re thinking:

“How could you possibly know that? You haven’t even seen our numbers.”

And that’s a fair question. Promising a specific outcome before understanding the business doesn’t make you look confident. It makes the claim look made up. Experienced founders notice that immediately.

The “10x with AI” problem

Then there’s a whole other category:

• 10x your leads.

• 2x your revenue.

• 100x your ROI.

These claims have been repeated so often that they’ve lost whatever impact they once had. When everyone promises 10x results, “10x” stops sounding ambitious. It starts sounding like noise.

What to say instead

Specificity builds more trust than an impressive-looking percentage.

Tell people who you help, what problem you solve, and where your expertise lies:

– Copywriting for early-stage B2B tech startups
– Content strategy for long SaaS sales cycles
– Turning complex B2B products into content buyers understand

No inflated numbers, but outcomes you can’t prove in advance. Just a clear reason for the right person to keep reading.

The bottom line

Numbers without context don’t make you sound credible. They make experienced buyers question the rest of your profile. And those experienced buyers are often the clients worth attracting.

Founders love CAC and LTV because they make marketing look measurable. But in a small startup, these numbers can create more confidence than clarity. You may have too few customers. Sales may still depend on the founder. Some channels have been tested for months, while others received three posts and were quietly declared ineffective.

At this stage, calculating CAC and LTV often means applying mature-business metrics to an immature system. That doesn’t mean marketing progress is invisible. It means you need to measure how close the business is getting to repeatability.

The product requires less explanation

Track how much work it takes to make someone understand the offer. Are discovery calls becoming shorter?

Do prospects arrive with more specific questions?

Are salespeople repeating fewer basic explanations?

Effective marketing reduces what I call “explanation debt.” It does part of the sales conversation before the prospect enters the room. If people understand the value faster, marketing is progressing—even if customer volume is still too low for a reliable CAC calculation.

The path to a qualified conversation gets shorter

Don’t only count how many leads marketing produces. Look at the distance between first contact and a serious conversation. A prospect who previously needed six interactions may now book a call after reading one case study and visiting the pricing page. That compression matters. It suggests the company is becoming easier to trust.

Demand becomes less dependent on the founder

Founder-led attention is useful, but it can disguise weak marketing.

Ask where interest comes from when the founder is not personally posting, messaging, introducing, or selling. A small number of relevant inquiries from content, search, referrals, or shared resources can be a stronger signal than dozens of conversations created through the founder’s network.

The real question is not simply, “Are leads increasing?”

It is, “Can demand travel without the founder carrying it?”

Marketing assets begin doing more than one job

A strong early-stage asset rarely stays inside one channel. An insight from a sales call becomes a post. The post becomes a landing-page section. That section becomes an ad. The ad reveals a new objection that improves the sales script. This is content yield: how much useful work the business gets from one idea. When marketing starts producing reusable knowledge instead of isolated posts, the company is building an operating system, not just publishing content.

Untested is not the same as ineffective

This is where many founders misread the data. If one topic was published repeatedly in several formats and another appeared once, their results cannot be compared fairly.

Create an evidence map:

Audience × problem × message × format × channel

The empty areas show where growth may still exist. Without this distinction, startups often abandon promising ideas because they were poorly tested, while continuing familiar activities that have simply received more time. CAC and LTV become useful when acquisition is repeatable enough to produce stable patterns.

Before that, measure something more honest:

Is the message becoming clearer? Is trust forming faster? Is demand becoming portable? Is marketing reducing the work required from sales? Early marketing progress is not just growth in numbers.

It is growth in certainty.

There’s no such thing as perfect content

I wouldn’t call myself a perfectionist. But like everyone, I double-check my work before hitting send. Does that guarantee no edits come back?

No.

You can build what you consider “perfect” content, and it still won’t guarantee the result you want. Meanwhile, something you threw together on the fly and sent for approval might outperform it completely. A junior tries to build the ideal version. A middle marketer thinks about whether the content gets the right idea across — and doesn’t need three weeks to build a lead magnet to prove it.

Anyone can create and post — so what’s your edge?

When I started, I assumed I’d just get clear tasks and execute them. Nothing more. But then what separates me from everyone else on the team? From the person before me? From whoever comes next?

Pick 1-3 skills nobody can outdo you on. It doesn’t have to be something complex. If you’re still new to everything, it can be as simple as: replying on time, never missing a deadline, or being the person who actually knows Canva (or whatever tool) inside out — something you can keep getting sharper at.

Initiative matters too. Yes, I know what that usually means in practice — you’ll probably end up with extra work. But think of it as a door opening, not a burden. If you’re going to propose something, show exactly how it benefits the business or the decision-maker. And build a rough prototype before you pitch it — don’t let it land as just another idea that gets forgotten in a week. Make yourself hard to replace.

How do you report on your work?

This is the part that matters most. You’re getting paid, and people want to see results — unfortunately, fast. There’s a lot marketing genuinely can’t control. And for some products, the payoff doesn’t show up in a month or two — it shows up in a year or two (hello, complex B2B SaaS). So how do you prove you’re not just collecting a paycheck — that you’re actually building something and moving sales, even indirectly?

Notion or Excel become your best friends here.

Show how many pieces of content you shipped, and what leads came from them. How your content moved the target metrics. Which creative brought in which audience. What your average CTR looks like. What actually changed because of the content. CAC and LTV, if you can calculate them. How the content connected to ROI, if the data’s there.

And don’t forget: no reasonable company expects you to save the sales numbers in your first week. But that’s not an excuse to skip planning every move — or to stop learning from the people ahead of you. They’ve seen more than you have. Find a mentor among them, and consider yourself lucky.

The average professional receives 121 emails per day. Every one of them screams for attention. “Act now.” “Limited time.” “Don’t miss out.” The inbox has become a crowded arena where everyone is fighting to be heard — which means silence has become the rarest competitive advantage.

Strategic silence in email is not neglect. It’s a deliberate choice to let a conversation breathe, to signal confidence rather than desperation, and to let the prospect feel like they’re in control of the next move.

Why no CTA is the strongest CTA

A call-to-action tells people what to do. But invisible marketing works differently: it creates the conditions where people want to act on their own. No button needed.

When a brand shares a genuine observation — a case study with no ask, a story with no landing page link, a newsletter that ends mid-thought — it triggers something psychological: the Zeigarnik effect. The brain craves closure. Incomplete loops keep you top-of-mind without a single banner ad.

What this looks like in practice

Invisible marketing lives in the texture of how you communicate, not in campaigns. It’s the email that ends without asking for anything. The LinkedIn post that provokes thought and closes with a question — then nothing. The outreach that says “I thought you’d find this interesting” with no pitch attached.

It influences decisions without announcing its presence. That’s not a trick. It’s a deep respect for the reader’s intelligence — and it builds the kind of trust that no discount code ever could.

Key signals of invisible marketing

• Content that creates questions rather than answering them

• Emails that end without a link, ask, or urgency trigger

• Deliberate pauses between touchpoints (strategic silence)

• Stories shared without a conversion goal

• Absence of follow-up as a positioning signal

Users no longer need to visit your website to get value from you. They get it on TikTok, in search snippets, in LinkedIn carousels. The brands winning today are the ones who already know this.

Content that works without your site

The old funnel was: awareness → click → convert. The new reality? Awareness and conversion often happen in the same scroll. Your content must deliver complete value inside the platform — not tease it.

A LinkedIn post that teaches something fully. A TikTok | Reel | Short that closes a purchase decision. A thread that replaces a blog post. These aren’t previews. They are the product.

The question isn’t “how do I get them to my site?” It’s “how do I make them trust me enough to buy — right here, right now?”

How to sell inside your blog

Your blog (may it be TikTok, YouTube, Instagram) isn’t the top of your funnel — it’s the whole funnel for Gen Z and increasingly everyone else. The brands that get this have moved the CTA into the content itself: native checkout, link-in-bio moments, DM triggers. They don’t fight the algorithm’s gravity. They use it.

If your content strategy still ends with “and then they click through,” you’re one step behind.

Your blog is now a landing page

Nobody reads blogs for entertainment anymore. They arrive with a specific intent, scan for the answer, and leave. That means every post needs to work like a landing page: one clear promise, one clear CTA, immediate credibility signals.

Long-form still works — but only when it’s genuinely exhaustive. Thin posts rank for nothing and convert even less.

Zero-click is not a threat to content marketing. It’s a filter. The brands that survive it are the ones creating real value, not traffic bait. Build content that’s worth consuming wherever it lives.

When budgets were expanding and investor money was flowing freely companies hired fast and trusted blindly. Now they don't. The office return isn't nostalgia - it's a control mechanism in an era where every budget line needs justification.

Why marketing gets hit hardest

1. The output problem

Performance marketers have numbers. Everyone else has decks. If your work doesn’t connect directly to revenue, you’re automatically in the “what do you actually do?” category. In the office, you at least have meetings and visibility. Remote, you’re just an avatar.

2. The global competition problem

Remote work opened a global talent market. You’re no longer competing with your city - you’re competing with candidates who will do the same job for less.

Companies respond by either cutting salaries or simply hiring locally and in-person, where they feel more in control.

3. The trust deficit

“SMM + copywriting + some paid ads” describes a million people. The more generalist the profile, the less credibility it carries. The office becomes a way for companies to reduce hiring risk when they can’t reliably evaluate who’s actually skilled.

4. The collaboration reality

Marketing is cross-functional by nature: product, design, sales. Sometimes it’s just faster to turn around and talk. Three calls and twenty Slack messages to make a decision that takes two minutes in person is a real cost.

What this means for you?

If your value is hard to measure and your skills are hard to differentiate, you’re exposed (not because you’re bad at your job), because the market can’t tell.

The answer isn’t to fight the office or accept every compromise. It’s to become someone whose output is undeniable enough that the conversation never starts.

The bottom line

The return to office isn’t the point. Measurable value is. The people working remotely in 2026 aren’t doing it because they negotiated hard — they’re doing it because their results speak for themselves.

Autoposting vs. Spontaneous Posting

They appear in the gaps — in a conversation, on a walk, when you’re not thinking about content at all. Forced regularity kills exactly that space.

There are two more patterns that quietly stall growth:

Writing without conflict.

“Safe” content — polished, inoffensive, agreeable — slides right past people. If a post doesn’t challenge something the reader already thinks, the brain just moves on. No tension, no attention.

Repeating yourself without realising it. You change the wording. You find a new angle. But the core idea is the same as three posts ago. Your audience feels it — even if they can’t name it. They just quietly stop opening your stuff. 71% of readers unfollow accounts that feel repetitive (Nielsen Norman Group).

Here’s what actually works instead:

1. Capture ideas when they come — not when it’s “content time.” A rough note, a half-formed thought. Don’t force it to be a post yet.

2. Let them stack. When you have 4–5 drafts, sit down and finish them all in one focused session.

3. Schedule them out. Then step away. That breathing room is where your next good ideas will come from.

You only publish what genuinely grabbed you — not what the calendar demanded. And the quality shows.

Consistency keeps you in the game. But it’s the idea behind the post that decides whether anyone cares.

I talked about automation, burnout, and the gradual disappearance of junior roles.

But there’s another part of this conversation people rarely discuss honestly: why remote work itself has started making employers uncomfortable.

After COVID, the market for remote specialists exploded.

Before the pandemic, only around 6% of U.S. workers, roughly 7 million people, worked fully remotely. Today, “I work from home” sounds completely normal. By the first quarter of 2024, around 35.5 million Americans were working remotely, nearly 23% of the entire workforce.

The problem is simple: supply grew much faster than demand.

Remote jobs became oversaturated, and competition for a single position increased dramatically.

But this also created something less obvious: distrust.

You can see it everywhere online now:
“What do people with laptops in cafés even do?”
“What are they actually working on?”

The visibility of remote work decreased, and with it, employer trust.

A big part of the issue is that corporate culture still tends to associate presence with productivity. When people are not physically visible, their contribution becomes harder for companies to measure emotionally, even if the actual results are there.

At the same time, abuse also increased:

• fake productivity,

• performative busyness,

• people secretly working multiple jobs at once.

According to one study, 88% of remote employees admitted they intentionally try to appear busy during work hours. Companies responded the only way corporations usually know how to respond: surveillance.

According to Gartner, the number of large companies using employee tracking software doubled to 60% after the pandemic. But monitoring didn’t solve the trust problem either.

Many remote and hybrid employees now report stress and anxiety caused by workplace surveillance, while nearly half see it as a violation of trust.

As a result, the market is slowly shifting toward hybrid work. According to Robert Half, 88% of U.S. employers already offer hybrid schedules. And honestly, the logic behind it is understandable.

An in-person meeting still gives companies something no Google Meet call fully can:
- quick conversations,
- faster decision-making,
- and the ability to observe how someone actually works in real time.

Most companies describe collaboration and easier team management as the main reasons for bringing people back to the office.

The market became overcrowded, trust collapsed, and companies started trying to rebuild control in the only ways they know how.

B2B IT content is genuinely harder to create.

Not because marketers are lazy. Because the entire logic of attention works differently here. Every time someone says “just go viral” or “why aren’t you posting more on TikTok?”, I cringe a little.

Not because short-form content is useless.
Because most B2B IT products are not built for impulse decisions. Nobody buys enterprise software after watching a trending audio and a flashy transition.

Your buyers are CTOs, operations managers, founders, finance teams. They are usually searching for one thing: a solution to an expensive problem.

And that changes everything about content.

One of the biggest mistakes I see in B2B IT marketing is treating content frequency as the strategy itself.

Post too often, and you start looking like a content machine instead of a serious product.
Post too rarely, and people slowly forget you exist.

I eventually settled on 1–2 strong posts per week. If I don’t have anything useful to say, I stay quiet. In B2B, silence is often better than noise.

Another thing most people underestimate: your sales cycle is probably longer than your content cycle. An enterprise client may spend 6 to 24 months evaluating vendors. That article you published last year? Someone is still reading it right now during month four of internal discussions.

This is why evergreen content matters so much in IT marketing. Educational posts, case studies, SEO articles, implementation breakdowns, ROI explanations. Content that still makes sense a year later.

And then there’s the hardest part: one post rarely works for everyone.

• The engineer wants technical depth.

• The CFO wants numbers.

• The founder wants scalability.

• The operations team wants simplicity.

You’re not writing for “an audience.” You’re writing for multiple decision-makers inside one company.

According to Gartner, around 6–10 people are involved in a typical B2B purchase decision. Which explains why a single viral post almost never converts into a serious deal.

There’s also no obvious visual “wow factor” in most IT products.

You can’t rely on aesthetics the same way fashion, beauty, or lifestyle brands do. Nobody is emotionally attached to middleware dashboards. Tragic, really. Humanity chose latte art over infrastructure architecture.

So I started replacing visuals with proof:
performance graphs, client numbers, analytics screenshots, operational improvements, real business outcomes.

That became the “wow.”

What actually works for me today is much less glamorous than internet marketing gurus would suggest:

1. SEO-first evergreen content.

2. LinkedIn for trust and thought leadership.

3. Case studies with actual numbers.

4. Email nurture for people still deciding.

B2B IT marketing is slow. But trust compounds. And in this industry, trust is usually what closes the deal.

I’ve noticed something lately.

Some posts don’t just feel relevant. They feel… a little too accurate - like some Instagram ads. Because now we’re not just competing with more content, but with content that’s been optimized to feel personal. Sometimes even AI-generated content feels almost too real.

And the numbers back it up:

77% of people won’t buy if the content isn’t personalized.
Not less likely - just won’t.

At the same time,
76% get annoyed when content misses their reality.

So “good but generic” content? It doesn’t really stand a chance anymore.

What changed isn’t just audience expectations. It’s the tools.

Most companies are already using AI to personalize content.

If you don’t know who you’re talking to, you’ll just produce more… slightly polished irrelevance.

We need to realize that companies are already using Claude and GPT - including paid versions, often with prompt specialists.

The question is: how can we do better as a “personal brand”? My answer is simple: don’t try to be better. Be more human.

Add some chaos.
Add some edge.
Make your content feel like something a real person would actually say. At some point, people get tired of “perfect”.

Like most non-developers, I started by comparing platforms: WordPress, Tilda, Wix, Hostinger, Bitrix.

Every guide online tried to answer the same question: Which one is best?

In 2023 I launched my site on WordPress (Premium plan).

In 2025 I moved it to Hostinger.

Not because WordPress is bad.

But because I realized the two platforms solve very different problems.

WordPress: powerful but demanding

According to W3Techs, WordPress powers over 40% of all websites on the internet and about 60% of sites using a CMS. That makes it by far the most widely used website platform in the world.

There are thousands of themes and plugins, and with enough customization you can build almost anything.

That flexibility is exactly why so many websites use it.

But for beginners it can feel heavy. Many features require higher plans, plugins sometimes need configuration, and even small changes can involve several decisions.

In short: WordPress is powerful, but it assumes you’re willing to spend time learning the system.

Hostinger: simplicity first

Hostinger takes a different approach.

Instead of offering endless customization, it focuses on speed and simplicity. The platform even includes an AI website builder that generates a basic site structure after a short description.

For someone who just wants to get a clean website online quickly, this can be surprisingly convenient.

The trade-off is obvious: fewer integrations and fewer customization options.

What actually matters

After working with both platforms, the real difference became clear:

Right now my website is running on Hostinger, and for my current needs it actually works better.

Connecting Google Analytics was straightforward and everything runs smoothly. What surprised me even more is the price. The annual plan I’m using is roughly ten times cheaper than the plan I had on WordPress — and on WordPress that price still wouldn’t allow me to connect Google Analytics without upgrading to the Business tier.

For a small personal website, that difference matters.

Will I move back to WordPress someday? Possibly.

It’s still a much more powerful ecosystem.

But for now I prefer Hostinger for one simple reason: it makes publishing and managing content much easier. I spend less time dealing with the platform and more time actually working on the site.

And at this stage, that simplicity is exactly what I need.

If your project grows — your platform should grow with it.

I would publish for a few weeks, see no traction, and quietly stop.
Come back a month later with the same promise:

Shared updates in Telegram.
Even started publishing long-form on VC.

Nothing happened.

At some point, it became hard not to assume that:

maybe the market is saturated
maybe people are tired of expert content
maybe nobody reads long posts anymore
maybe it’s just harder to grow now

Or maybe it’s just me.

But none of those explanations made sense. Because the real problem wasn’t how often I posted.It was where I was posting.

Telegram doesn’t show your content to people who don’t already follow you.

LinkedIn rarely pushes your posts outside your existing network.

Long-form platforms don’t bring traffic unless you actively optimise for search.

Which means:

If you don’t already have an audience, you’re publishing into places where nobody can find you in the first place.

And once you’re doing that, everything else becomes predictable.

You publish consistently.
You see no growth.
Your brain stops getting feedback.

Motivation drops.

Suddenly, the problem looks like inconsistency.

But inconsistency wasn’t the cause.

It was the outcome of publishing into a vacuum.

I thought I needed better habits.

What I actually needed was a way to be discovered.

Because content doesn’t create an audience on its own.

It only keeps the audience once it’s there.

Bukhara.

Fast food, fried chicken segment. Food delivery via aggregators is already a habit, not a trend. Before any global competition appeared, CTR Chicken operated in the city for roughly 1 to 1.5 years. It was the first international fried chicken brand locally. That matters. Or rather, it could have mattered. CTR as the first mover

From the outside, CTR looked strong.

• first international chicken brand in the city

• visually attractive space

• active UGC driven by aesthetics

• good taste

• competitive pricing

As a product and a place, CTR worked.

As a system, it didn’t. Observed issues:

- delivery technically existed, but phone numbers were hard to find or not working

- the website was little-known and unstable

- a Telegram bot was launched but didn’t respond consistently

- no clear, reliable customer journey outside the physical location

CTR was visible as a restaurant.

It wasn’t built as a scalable channel.

When KFC entered the market

About two months ago, KFC entered Bukhara.

Within 3 to 4 weeks:

• delivery was fully operational

• the brand appeared on the most popular local platforms, including Yandex Delivery and Uzum Tezkor

• the website worked predictably

• the focus was clearly on delivery and takeaway

To be fair:

the physical space is small

the dine-in experience is weaker than CTR’s

But that didn’t matter much. Because KFC didn’t optimize for aesthetics. It is optimized for access. Why being first didn’t help CTR. This is the core point. CTR didn’t lose because KFC arrived. CTR lost because the market space was never locked in.

In a city where people already order food through delivery services only, a brand that is:

1. hard to find,

2. hard to contact,

3. unreliable in delivery,

4. effectively doesn’t exist in the customer’s decision flow.

First-mover advantage only works when it turns into habit. CTR had time, attention, and goodwill. But time without infrastructure is not a moat. When KFC entered, it didn’t steal customers. It simply occupied the empty system CTR never built. The alternative scenario This outcome was not inevitable.

CTR could have:

• secured delivery channels before any global competitor appeared

• become the default fried chicken option inside aggregators

• turned early visibility into routine usage

• forced KFC to compete for attention instead of inheriting it

Instead, the market stayed open. And open markets don’t reward nostalgia.

Final takeaway. Being first is not a strategy. A strong product without distribution is fragile. Marketing is infrastructure, not promotion. Markets punish passivity faster than mistakes

I genuinely like CTR as a product. But liking a brand doesn’t change how markets work. And markets don’t wait.

When you move between countries, even briefly, you notice how fast your “normal” stops being normal. Language shifts and humor breaks. That’s when it clicks:
Most content fails not because it’s bad, but because it’s misplaced.

We love the idea of universal messages. One core idea, one tone, one funnel, deployed everywhere like it’s Wi-Fi. Travel ruins that illusion fast.

What converts in one country sounds arrogant in another.
What feels warm in one culture feels unprofessional elsewhere.
What reads as “authentic” in English can feel overshared or vague once translated.

Localization is not translation.
It’s context engineering. Travel forces you to read the room constantly. You watch how people talk to shop owners. How they complain,what they joke about and what they avoid saying out loud. This is exactly the skill most of us - marketers skip because it takes obviously more time to change for every culture. Look, you can create content for a certain lifestyle but if you work online you are probably facing this reality: content has to be localized to language and cultural context.

While traveling, I caught myself rewriting headlines in my head for the same product and same value. And they had completely different entry points because of the audience.

Marketing theory rarely teaches this because it’s messy and slow. Travel teaches it immediately.

Another shift travel brings
You stop romanticizing growth and start respecting friction. When everything is unfamiliar, you don’t chase scale. That mindset alone improves content. You care about being understood by someone who didn’t grow up inside your mental ecosystem.

That’s a useful discipline for any marketer.

Travel didn’t make me more creative though like I expected. It helped me see things from a broader perspective. Also stripped away the illusion that audiences are abstract “users.” They’re specific people, shaped by geography, language, economics, and unspoken rules you only notice when you’re the outsider.

In practice, this means adapting not just tone but entry points into value.
A benefit-led headline that works in the US may need to become risk-avoidance messaging in more uncertainty-averse markets.
Social proof may outperform aspiration in collectivist cultures.
Direct claims often require softer framing where trust is built indirectly.
These are not translation choices. They are positioning decisions.

If content is a bridge, travel teaches you where bridges actually collapse. And once you see that, you can’t unsee it.

Marketing is no longer about reacting faster than others. It’s about noticing change before it becomes obvious. Technological shifts, cultural movements, regulatory pressure, changing expectations. All of this is happening quietly, in the background, long before it hits the mainstream.

Future Foresight & Strategic Thinking

Future foresight is the ability to notice weak signals of change before they become obvious. Technological shifts, cultural movements, regulatory pressure, changing expectations. Then to imagine multiple ways these signals might evolve and prepare strategies that won’t collapse the moment the environment changes.

This is where marketers stop being executors and start shaping long-term opportunities.

A simple exercise to build this muscle:

1. Choose one trend affecting your industry. AI adoption, sustainability regulations, shifting consumer values.

2. Map three scenarios for the next 5 years:
   

   • optimistic

   • pessimistic

   • unexpected
     

3. For each scenario, ask:

   • What changes for our customers?

   • What becomes risky for our brand?

   • Which channels gain or lose relevance?
     

4. Identify one action you can take today that helps across all scenarios.

This habit trains you to test ideas against multiple futures instead of betting everything on a single forecast.

Show measurable results only

Another shift is harder to ignore.

People are increasingly drawn to specific, concrete, and evidence-backed information, not agreeable, vague explanations that sound smart but say nothing.

There’s research to back this up.
Studies on concrete language show that specificity improves customer understanding, satisfaction, and trust. When ideas are grounded in real data, examples, or measurable experience, they feel more credible and actionable.

This matters even more in the age of LLMs. When every tool can generate polite, reasonable, neutral answers, audiences start craving pointed diagnosis instead of “balanced takes.” They want to see:

real numbers/real experiments/real trade-offs and clear positions

Not a synthetic voice that agrees with every side of an argument.

Experiential marketing

As digital personalization improves, content is starting to change direction.

Audiences are tired of optimized messages that feel distant and interchangeable. They respond better to content that feels experienced, not generated.

Experiential marketing today isn’t about events. It’s about creating moments people can feel:

live formats, real-time interaction, behind-the-scenes processes, unscripted conversations.

This kind of content builds trust faster because it shows presence instead of performance. No algorithm can replace human attention. Sometimes it’s a voice. Sometimes it’s a face on screen. What matters is that the content feels lived, not simulated.

P.S. In my opinion, the simplest and most effective move right now is showing real numbers. But content built on strategic thinking is what actually compounds over time.

How Do You Define Success?

Success is usually measured by growth.
Followers. Reach. Numbers going up and to the right.
It’s a clean, comfortable logic: more means better.

But over the past year of working with content, I’ve come to see success very differently.

If you open a dictionary, success is defined as achieving your goals and producing a positive result.
The real question isn’t whether I achieved success, but who gets to define it and how.

A year ago, I started writing across multiple platforms.

A year has passed.

Over 1,000 new followers, hundreds of conversations, several collaborations.
Is that success?

Started in September. My consistency is still a work in progress: disappearing, coming back, repeating the cycle.
Around 80 new connections and 3 collaborations.
Success?

Telegram
About 10 subscribers.
But this is where I shared my very first website drafts and real working copy.
Is that a failure, or something else?

How do I even categorize that?

Almost zero. I literally have no comment.

If we follow the classic definition, success means achieving every goal you set remember?
But let’s be realistic: it’s impossible to succeed everywhere at the same time.

Content is not a linear system. When one platform grows, another almost always demands more work. That’s the cycle. The most important thing I’ve learned this year is this:
success in content is subjective.

I have over a thousand followers on LinkedIn.
Yet I found work through a blog that had 6 subscribers.

Metrics are statistics.
Success is a set of boundaries.
And you are the one who sets them.

I often see content creators quit. Recently, I spoke with a creator on LinkedIn who had been posting consistently for six months and still hadn’t landed a job. He was exhausted and deeply discouraged. The problem wasn’t him. The problem was expecting fast results. Content is a long-term game.
Your blog is not a tool for instant success.
It’s a space you build even when there’s no immediate demand for it.

Don’t abandon what you love just because it isn’t converting right now.
Sometimes the most meaningful results come from places you never thought to measure.

Great for business. Even better for spammers, scammers, phishers, and people who build “credibility” without doing any actual work.

So yes, the platform feels messy: too much noise, too much fakery, and way too many people acting like LinkedIn is a scavenger hunt for your personal data. They hire, share corporate updates, build brand presence.
Simple enough. The only problem: it’s ridiculously easy to hide a fake “company” among the real ones.

3. The “20K Followers, Zero Job Offers” Crowd

The success cosplayers.
They post daily wins, talk about mindset mastery, preach growth…
and somehow still aren’t employed anywhere.

Their formula:
post often → be emotional → go viral → pretend you’re an expert.
No skills required, just stamina.

They make the feed feel like a noisy street market.

4. The Scammers

This is where things get interesting (in the worst way).

Scammers show up as:

• “founders” with 10k followers

• recruiters with 50 connections

• “Dubai-based companies”

• “million-dollar coaches”

• job posters with perfectly polished profiles

Their playbook:

1. create a fake company / vacancy / course

2. collect your data

3. resell it or use it for further fraud

How Scams Operate on LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a positive platform by design.
But the bigger it grows, the easier it becomes to exploit.

The most common schemes:

• Fake job offers

Posted under big company names.
Victims? Medium and large businesses with budgets worth exploiting.

• Fake recruiters

They “just need to confirm your phone model”, “your city”, or “your number for a quick call”.
Translation: they’re collecting data.

• Malicious links disguised as “applications”

Click → login page → stolen credentials.

What makes this worse:
Big companies become hesitant to hire globally because of fraud risks.
Which means:

• companies lose access to cheaper global talent

• international candidates lose opportunities they should have had

Everyone loses except the scammers.

How to Protect Yourself

No algorithm can save you if you hand your data to strangers.
Here’s what actually matters:

1. Stop adding everyone to your network

At best: dead audience.
At worst: your content and clicks get polluted by bots or fake accounts.

Then come the complaints:

“Why are my views so low?”
“Why are these likes so weird?”
“Why are the clicks useless?”

Because the audience is useless.

2. Don’t answer suspicious questions

Examples of red flags:

• “What device are you using?”

• “Where are you based?”

• “Can you share your number?”

These are data-mining attempts, not conversations.

3. Change your passwords every 6 months

And no, not in your Notes app.
Use a physical notebook or a dedicated password tool.

4. Don’t click on external “application links” from strangers

If it looks slightly off, it is off.

5. Validate every job post

Real companies have websites, employees, history, documentation.
Fake ones have… motivational quotes and a Canva logo.

What to Do If You’ve Already Been Scammed

Take action immediately:

1. change all passwords

2. check login sessions

3. log out from unknown devices

4. enable 2FA everywhere

5. report the scam

Final Thoughts

LinkedIn is not broken. But it is crowded, noisy, and increasingly performative.

There is more pressure to post, more fake authority, more boundary-crossing behavior, and more scams hiding behind polished profiles. The platform still works for people who understand how it works and refuse to play the wrong games. The key skill now is not visibility. It is discernment.

Do you know why I like LinkedIn?
Not just because you can find a job or showcase your skills.
But because those terrible, annoying DMs from “gurus” make perfect content.
Let’s dig in.

Before I started posting on LinkedIn, I optimized my profile using step-by-step guides from several recruiters on YouTube. Sounds bold, but I included every keyword needed so anyone visiting my profile could instantly understand: who I am, what I do, and how I can help them.
I still update it from time to time, and other creators helped me with feedback, not because they wanted to sell something, but because I asked.

Everything was going well: a spike in followers, impressions, and reactions: all up by more than 150%. Then… the DMs started.

Messages telling me my profile “needs improvement”.
Or “collaboration offers” that immediately turned into comments about how “unoptimized” my profile supposedly is.
If someone told me specifically what’s wrong, I wouldn’t mind. I’d accept the critique.
But for them, everything was wrong.

To be fair, one person at least gave details.
And yes, according to her, literally everything was wrong.

Honestly, I wish I had at least a bit of their confidence. Really.
Offering “optimization services” when your own profile is not optimized - that’s bold.

No one writes that they shouldn’t write, right? We as marketers often offer our services.
But how about improving communication ethics just a little?

So what do studies say?

Most outreach fails not because of competition, but because of attitude.

Actual statistics (Outplay и Persana):

• 48% of people ignore the first message if it contains criticism.

• 65% find a condescending tone unprofessional.

• 59% of buyers say: if the message annoys them, the brand annoys them too.
  

So you’re not just losing a sale. You’re losing your reputation

And here’s the cherry on top:

And a 2021 study on hard-sell techniques shows something very simple:
when you’re pushy and focus on someone’s flaws, it doesn’t just annoy them - it directly lowers their desire to work with you, even if your offer is great. And the conclusion is obvious:
bad outreach isn’t just a “dumb message.”
It’s a mistake that destroys trust, damages your brand, and reveals your communication level better than any portfolio.

A bit of ethics

Would I buy a service if the message were written differently? Probably not.

But would I recommend the person if someone asked me? Definitely yes. Let me give you three short points on how to write messages that won’t get ignored:

1. Write what exactly you like about this person’s work. No need to stalk. Just point out a professional detail that caught your attention.

2. Introduce yourself - what you do, what you’re good at. It’s better to be honest from the start that you’re offering a service.

3. Say what exactly you would improve. Mention details without insulting the person’s current work. You can attach your samples and your price list.

That’s it!
Is this impossible? Or does it bother you that they will immediately see you want to sell something?
But that’s the truth.
And by being honest, you save yourself a lot of time, stress, and you keep your self-respect for future projects.

They won’t buy? Then they simply don’t need it right now.
But at least they will remember you as a respectful person.

Let’s make life easier for ourselves and for others.
The more honest you are with yourself, the more you attract the right audience.
