So apparently… we’re going there.

Beginning tomorrow, September 1, I will start 30 Days to Biblical Prosperity right here in Substack.

Yes, tomorrow! Each morning I will be dropping a short Spirit led, scripturally based audio lesson to shore up our faith, increase our awareness, and shift our beliefs about what we believe about God’s provision and what’s possible for us.

30 Days to Biblical Prosperity will be for paid subscribers, and I want to tell you that right up front.

Not because I want to put God’s truth behind a paywall, but because I want to create a committed space for those who are ready to actually walk through this with me for 30 days—to listen, reflect, renew our minds, and put these truths into practice.

You see, my friend, I’m sure you’re hearing it. It’s all around us… financial worries, uncertainty about the economy, life throwing us curveballs. Sometimes it can feel like there’s hardly room for financial security, let alone financial freedom.

But there is.

And it’s in God’s Word.

And I have a mandate to teach it—to bring these truths back to the forefront for anyone who is hungry for them.

So let me ask you…

Would you like your financial situation to change?

Would you love to feel less controlled by the economy, your past choices, or your present circumstances?

Do you suspect that maybe—just maybe—you worry about money more than you’d like?

Would you like that to stop?

Would you like to believe that your financial future can be different from your financial past?

If God is speaking to you about this, then please—come on this adventure with me.

Day 1 begins with a startling truth right out of the gate:

Prosperity Is Your Birthright.

Now, before your hackles go up, I’m asking you to set aside, just for a moment, whatever you may have heard or believed about “prosperity teaching”—and even your preconceived ideas about the word itself.

Because prosperity, or some form of it, appears throughout Scripture again and again—not only in the Old Testament, but through the language of abundance, increase, wealth, blessing, provision, fruitfulness, and flourishing across both the Old and New Testaments.

This is not a fringe subject in the Bible.

And I think it’s time we took another look.

From Broke to Bank

Listen, my friend, I’m not talking about this from some lofty place where money has always been easy.

Almost 20 years ago, Gene and I were as broke as we had ever been.

We had three beat-up cars sitting in the driveway that all needed repairs.

Our five-foot mower—the one we needed to mow nearly four acres—was broken.

Two of our older kids lived far away, one in England and one in Arizona, and we couldn’t afford to go see them.

And I was waking up in the middle of the night sweating, imagining us someday living in a cardboard box under a bridge.

I remember thinking, How in the hell did we get here?

Because this was not how our financial life had always looked.

We had known increase.

We had known abundance.

We had known what it was like to expect provision, to make good money, and to have room to breathe.

But somewhere along the way, our thinking had gotten smaller.

And to be honest, the longer we were Christians, the broker we became.

Wow.

At some point, after having enough of the fear and struggle, we had to ask ourselves:

Maybe something is wrong with our theology?

Ya think?

That question started us on a journey. We stopped relying so heavily on what other people said God thought about money and began going back to Scripture for ourselves.

What was actually God’s intention?

What had He promised?

What did it mean to be rooted and grounded in His love—and what would that look like in every area of life, including our finances?

As we learned, something began to change.

Our hearts filled with hope.

Our minds began to renew.

And even our nervous systems around money began to calm.

Then one day, while I was journaling about all of this, I heard God say:

“Well, how much do you want, Maryann? Go ask Gene the same.”

Huh?

I get to say?

Immediately, I thought of Solomon, when God appeared to him in a dream and said, Ask for whatever you want Me to give you.

So I went to Gene and told him what I had heard.

Separately, we each wrote down an amount.

Not what we desperately needed.

What we wanted.

Enough each month to make the repairs, pay all the bills, visit our children, and still have surplus.

Yes. We asked for all of that.

The amount?

$10,000 a month.

In today’s dollars that may not sound extraordinary, but for us at the time, it was about four times what we were making.

And then something happened that still amazes me.

Within a week, an opportunity came that allowed us to make that amount.

It lasted for about 18 months.

And when that season ended, we received a windfall.

Crazy, right?

Now, I am not telling you this as a formula.

I am not saying, “Write down a number and God will hand it to you.”

But I have seen again and again that extraordinary things can happen when our minds and hearts come into agreement with God’s truth and love.

It has been a long time since I taught a class on prosperity.

But every time I have, something shifts.

Beliefs change.

Hope rises.

Possibilities open.

And people begin to see God, money, provision, and even themselves differently.

That is my hope for our 30-day adventure.

If this is speaking to you, I’d love to have you join me.

30 Days to Biblical Prosperity begins tomorrow, September 1, and the short daily lessons will be available to paid subscribers.

If you’re already a paid subscriber, you’re in. It’s still alive and kicking butts!!! But Gene (my hubby) is getting stronger. His pulse is back to normal, he’s eating good-sized meals, he’s out of bed all day now, and every day there are little signs of restoration.

But what struck me this morning wasn’t just his physical progress. It was him.

In the middle of the night, I woke up with an instruction from the Lord, “Declare Divine Strength over and into Gene.” In the dark, I wrote it down afraid I would forget.

But in the morning, it came back… big and bold. It was then that I suddenly began to see something that has been operating in him for years.

Ten years ago, Gene was enormously strong physically. He could work hard, lift things, fix things, build things, and pretty much do whatever needed to be done. Then came the brain tumor, brain surgery, stage IV melanoma, immunotherapy, medications, physical changes and, of course, aging.

His human strength is not what it once was. How could it be?

And yet there is a strength in him that has not disappeared with age or illness.

Over these years I have watched him face some very difficult things. He certainly has concerns and disappointments. He doesn’t pretend everything is wonderful when it isn’t. But he also doesn’t live in despair or self-pity. He gets up again. He keeps believing. He remains grateful. He still looks for what he can do rather than continually focusing on what he can’t.

This 83-year-old man could be a miserable old curmudgeon after everything he has been through.

But he isn’t.

And this morning it hit me: I have been watching Divine strength.

That immediately brought me Ephesians 3, where Paul prays that we would be strengthened with power through God’s Spirit in our inner being and that we would be rooted and grounded in love.

I have read those verses countless times. I’ve taught them. I’ve written about them. They are foundational to so much of what I believe.

But this morning I saw another dimension of them.

Being rooted and grounded in God’s love isn’t simply about knowing that God loves us or even experiencing His comfort, wonderful as that is. His love actually becomes the power from which we live.

When our own strength isn’t enough, there is another strength available.

When our resources seem limited, there is another Supply.

When circumstances require more from us than we feel capable of giving, we don’t have to somehow manufacture enough courage, enough faith, enough optimism or enough fortitude to get through it all.

We can draw from Him.

That is what roots do. They draw life and nourishment from a source beneath the surface.

And maybe that is one reason Paul prayed that we would be rooted and grounded in love. He wasn’t simply praying that we would understand a nice spiritual truth. He was praying that God’s love would become so real and so foundational to us that it would actually empower us from the inside.

As I saw this more clearly this morning, I started to cry.

Partly because I was so grateful for Gene and for the strength I now realize I have been witnessing in him for all these years.
<div In those moments of high-stakes decisions, cash flow crunches, or family strain, that phrase made me want to roll my eyes.

I dismissed it. I poo-poo’d it as a nice, sweet Sunday school cliché.

It felt soft. It felt like a band-aid that wasn't robust enough to handle the blunt, heavy realities of real-world pressure.

More often than not, we think we need a complex tactical strategy, a sharper 5-year plan, or a higher dose of human willpower to force our way through the blockages.

But after decades of coaching brilliant, deep people of faith, if you asked me to name the number one bottleneck holding them back from their highest potential, I would tell you it is this:

they are utterly wearied by worry.

Now I get it… most people find it difficult to admit to worry, but we all do it.

Even so, can you imagine a life without it?

In part, that is what my BEYOND WORKSHOP is about. Living beyond your worries, your limitations, your expectations, and even your imagination!

We are going to dig deep into Ephesians 3:20, the verse many believers love to quote, but in reality, don’t live there.

But we won’t just be talking about the promise… but also the pathway to its fruition! And, in a nutshell, it is Love. God’s love. (No eye-rolling, please)

After this highly experiential workshop, you will not just know you are loved, you will feel it.

Yes, the solution is so simple it's easy to dismiss.

Does this sound familiar?

The Cost of a Wearied Nervous System

There is a massive difference between knowing intellectually that God loves you and your nervous system actually believing it.

When you are trapped in a cycle of worry—constantly scanning your circumstances, your finances, your health, or your relationships to make sure everything is safe—your brain is operating from a baseline of survival.

Worry acts as a faulty psychological shield. Your mind uses it to protect you from imagined disappointment, whispering subtle, defensive rules:

* “I can’t move forward, because if it doesn’t work, I get hurt again.”

* “I need to be safe, sensible, and realistic.”

* “If I don't control every single piece of this, it will all fall apart.”

These thoughts don't mean you lack faith. They just mean your subconscious mind is trying to protect you through human striving.

But hey, guess what!?

You cannot strive your way into spiritual power.

Scripture tells us in Ephesians 3:20 that there is a power at work within us through which God can do infinitely BEYOND our highest prayers, deepest desires, and wildest dreams.

So, what is that magnificent power? It is the deep awareness, comprehension, and experiential absorption of the magnitude of His love.

Moving from Head Knowledge to Felt Freedom

The real antidote to a worried, exhausted life is deceptively simple, yet profoundly powerful.

To shift from worry to true freedom and power, we have to move past passive theology and drop our awareness out of our analytical heads and straight into our hearts. We have to allow our deep, protective fears to encounter the melting, stabilizing authority of God’s love.

When you do that, the transition is breathtaking.

You move from a state of internal dread to a state of high expectancy. You realize that your past does not get to write the rest of your story, and your current circumstances are not the final measure of what is possible.

The effect is an immediate, bone-deep freedom—the freedom to breathe, trust, receive, and create with child-like curiosity. You stop asking, "How am I going to fix this alone?" and you start wondering, “God, what could we create together?”

Maybe the opposite of worry isn’t certainty about the outcome.

Maybe it’s security in the relationship.

Let's Clear the Bottleneck Together This Saturday

If you are reading this and realize you are completely tired of the pressure, self-doubt, and shrinking yourself to fit what feels safe, I want to invite you to step into the live experience where we actively bridge this gap.

This Saturday, August 15, 2026, I am hosting The Beyond Workshop: Co-Creating with God a Life Beyond Your Limitations, Expectations, and Imagination.

We are not going to spend five hours talking about passive theology. But once the immediate crisis had passed, the full reality of what lay ahead began to descend upon me.

I wanted to care for him twenty-four hours a day.

At the same time, I had to face the practical reality of how I would support us financially.

We had a whopping $600 in the bank.

I wondered how I could carry the emotional, physical, spiritual, and financial weight of everything before us. I didn’t know how much strength would be required, how long the journey would last, or whether I had enough within me to do what needed to be done.

Indeed, I was convinced I didn’t have what it would take.

I needed divine intervention.

The problem was, business stress, burnout, and exhaustion from moving cross country, and many hours of prayer… to no apparent avail led me to question…

God, where are You?

Although Gene’s surgery had been miraculous, I felt almost abandoned by God in the aftermath.

I was trying to be strong.

I was trying to have faith.

I was trying to determine what to do next.

But eventually, under the weight of fear, uncertainty, responsibility, grief, and exhaustion, I caved.

Anxiety took hold of me. I felt hopeless, powerless, and unable to see a way forward. I went to bed that night feeling lost and in complete despair.

And then… at 4 am… I heard four words:

Get back to Love, Maryann.

Such simple words. Almost too simple for the enormity of what I was facing. But profoundly captivating.

Not fully understanding what it meant, within 2 hours God showed me. My heart felt like it was going to explode in exhilarating joy. I still only had $600 in the bank, but I felt like a million bucks.

Not only that, without going into the details here (you can read my book!) – thousands and thousands came in that day, that week… for the whole year I was off work.

Not only was my relationship with God healed from this encounter, but so was my relationship with money… and all resources I needed to focus on just loving my husband into health.

Now, please understand … at the time, I had absolutely no idea that Get Back to Love would become the message of my life, the foundation beneath nearly everything I would write, teach, and offer for the next decade.

I thought God was showing me how to survive one devastating season. I didn’t know he was also giving me the solution to every problem and the fulfillment of every dream – whether it involved money, relationships, health, or purpose.

Feeling God’s love has become EVERYTHING.

Knowing God Loves You Is Not Always Enough

Let me be clear… I already knew God loved me.

I had been a believer for many years. I knew the Scriptures. I understood that God is love. I believed Jesus had demonstrated the immeasurable depth of that love through His life, death, and resurrection.

I knew all of that.

But there is a huge difference between knowing that God loves you and actually feeling loved by God.

There is a difference between agreeing with love as a theological truth and experiencing it as a present reality.

Something happens when His love moves from the pages of Scripture into the hidden, frightened, and hurting places of our hearts.

Something changes when love is no longer merely a truth we recite, but something we perceive, receive, and experience.

Our breathing changes. Even our bodies soften. Immense gratitude and deep humility emerge. It is the most exquisitely free experience … ever.

In the moment you feel so safe, so secure, so well cared for… and the future no longer feels filled with doom and gloom.

We all of a sudden remember … I am not alone. I am not forgotten. I am humbly worthy.

That is what began happening in me.

As I returned to His love, I moved from anxiety to peace.

From hopelessness to eager anticipation.

From feeling powerless to becoming strong in Him.

My circumstances did not change all at once. Gene still had cancer. I still had practical questions to answer. I still did not know exactly how everything would play out.

But I was feeling full of joy and God’s power within those circumstances.

Love was holding me where fear had taken over and for the first time in a very long time, I had no compulsion to strive, make things happen, or obligate myself to anyone or anything other than Gene’s health and God’s love.

My experience with God made me a RECEIVER.

Since then, I have been convinced that we were created not merely to know about the love of God, but to live immersed in it.

To be rooted in it.

Established in it.

Strengthened by it.

To think, create, work, give, dream, and relate from the deep inner certainty that we are completely and irrevocably loved.

When that experience is missing, something within us knows something is not right.

We may not know what is missing.

We may not have words for the emptiness.

We may try to satisfy it through achievement, money, recognition, relationships, productivity, service, ministry, success, or the approval of others.

We may keep telling ourselves that when one more thing changes, we will finally be able to rest.

When the money comes.

When the prayer is answered.

When the right person notices us.

When the opportunity opens.

When our family is okay.

When we finally become the person we believe we should be.

But beneath so much of that striving is a heart asking questions only Love can answer:

Am I safe?

Do I matter?

Am I worthy?

Have I been forgotten?

Is God truly with me?

Will I be okay?

No achievement can permanently answer those questions.

No amount of money can settle them forever.

No human being can carry the full responsibility of convincing us that we are worthy of love.

Only Love Himself can reach those places.

That is why I will continue to beat this drum until my last breath.

Get back to Love.

By the way, Gene received a clean bill of health.

Cancer-free.

And he says it over and over:

Love healed me. Can I get a hallelujah!?

So this month, in celebration of ten years of Get Back to Love, I am offering The Beyond Workshop—a one day live experience designed to help you uncover what may be standing between you and the love, freedom, and power God has already made available to you.

Together, we will open ourselves to the God who is able to do exceedingly and abundantly BEYOND our limitations, expectations, and imagination. (Eph 3:20)

More details are coming soon. Save the date – Aug. 15

But for today, perhaps you might simply ask:

God, what would You like me to receive from Your love today?

To you feeling extraordinarily, completely and totally loved,

Much love,

MA

Magnificent Love Letters

It's Hard to Love People When You Fear Them

It's difficult to admit this...

Maryann Ehmann

Recently, I came face-to-face with something about myself that was difficult to admit.

I heard myself say, “I don’t think I really love people.”

The words startled me.

They felt far too harsh, and yet I knew there was something true in them.

Did I really not love people?

Not in the way I want to.

For sure, I care about people. I want to help them. I have spent much of my life teaching, coaching, encouraging, praying for, and pouring into others.

But love?

The kind of love that is open, generous, unguarded, and genuinely delighted in another person?

Yes, of course, there are a few people I feel that around.

But for the world at large? I realized there was something standing in the way.

Fear.

It is difficult to love people when you are afraid of them.

And fear of judgment is fear of people.

Fear of what they will think.

Fear that they will misunderstand you, criticize you, dismiss you, or decide you are too much—or not enough.

Fear that you will expose your heart and hear nothing but silence in return.

We may not call it fear. We may call it wisdom, caution, professionalism, or simply being realistic.

But fear is still fear, even when it wears respectable clothing.

And fear creates distance.

It makes us guarded.

It makes us evaluate people rather than enjoy them.

It makes us wonder whether they approve of us instead of becoming curious about who they are.

It makes us perform.

And performance may impress people, serve people, teach people, or even inspire people.

But it cannot truly love them.

Love, true love, requires freedom.

It requires enough inner safety that we are no longer constantly monitoring how we are being received.

That is why trying harder to love people rarely works.

I could tell myself to be more compassionate, patient, generous, and Christlike. Somewhere along the way, I had unknowingly adopted a rule: If I beat myself up enough over something, I’d be less likely to do it again.

Now, I will tell you, I had studied the word of God faithfully. I knew there is “no condemnation in Christ” and “love holds no record of wrongs”, but for many reasons, I continued to unconsciously flog myself, not just for my wrongdoings, but for my mistakes too. You know the voice... You should know better. Which quickly becomes, What’s wrong with you?

Letting myself off the hook felt irresponsible, almost as though I were taking my mistake too lightly.

So, there I was, berating myself in my living room, when all of a sudden I hear, “I died for that one, too.”

One of those undeniable lightning bolt moments.

To be honest, I’ve never been big on correction. But the Lord’s correction never shames. It relieves, frees, and empowers. I felt the love.

Well, for years afterward, whenever I failed, made a poor choice, or simply beat myself up over a mistake, those six beautiful words would come back to me...eradicating the guilt and shame I carried around like a millstone. My response? Thank you for dying for that one, too. And once again, my heart would melt.

Over the years, I’ve taught extensively about the nervous system, fear-based brain wiring, and why guilt and shame sit at the very bottom of the emotional scale. Those insights have helped many people understand what they’re experiencing and why they respond the way they do.

But I’ve also discovered something else.

Understanding why we do something doesn’t always free us from it.

Sometimes one encounter with truth can accomplish in a moment what years of understanding alone could not.

For those who believe in the cross of Christ, six simple words can pierce through guilt and shame with astonishing power:

“He died for that one too.”

But then soon after, another thought followed… since Christ didn’t just die for our sins and mistakes… what about the consequences of them?

Did He also die for that?

Isn’t that what redemption is about?

How about restoration?

Healing?

John 10:10 says He came to give abundant life… did He die for that, too?

How about good news for the poor?

Sight for the blind?

Liberty for the oppressed …

as Luke 4:18 teaches.

What if we’ve dramatically underestimated everything Jesus purchased for us?

So, I wonder, my friend, might we be leaving too much change on the table?

As for me, if He died for it, and He wants me to receive it, then I don’t want to leave it on the table. I want to claim it, live in it, and share it.

To your expanded heart,

Maryann

As always, I welcome your thoughts.

What If God Isn't Limited by Your Limitations?

The words that changed the way I think about mine.

Maryann Ehmann

The other day I was talking with God about some desires He has placed on my heart. Almost immediately, I found myself bumping up against all the reasons they might never happen.

And... they all had to do with me.

My limitations.
My insecurities.
My fears.
My age.
My concerns.

Then, in the middle of all that, God interrupted me. (I actually love it when He does that!)

“Maryann, I’m not limited by your limitations.”

Wait... what?!

The more I pondered those words, the more I realized that somewhere along the way I had concluded that my limitations had become God’s limitations. If I wanted to experience the desires He had placed in my heart, surely I first had to overcome my fears, insecurities, doubts, and limiting beliefs.

And yet, didn’t I know better?

Yes, but… with all the emphasis on improving yourself, following spiritual principles, and implementing strategies to be better, do better, and then… you can finally experience the desires of your heart… well, guess what… that way of thinking had totally crept in.

Ewww...

But what if the invitation isn’t to remove all our limitations?

What if it’s to trust the One who isn’t limited by them?

As I wrote my book last year, I began to see a very different story emerge. Again and again, I saw a God who had brought healing, financial provision, wisdom, restored relationships, and impossible solutions—not because I finally became fearless or had perfect faith, but because He isn’t limited the way I am.

I’m still sitting with this revelation, and I have a feeling I’m only beginning to grasp its depth.

So I’d love to ask you the same question I’ve been asking myself.

When you hear God say, “I am not limited by your limitations,” what happens inside you?

What thoughts immediately come to mind?

What emotions surface?

Don’t think about it too deeply for now… knee jerk reaction. And if you’d be so kind, can you share your thoughts with me? Even in a private note. I really do want to know. We try to force doors open through sheer willpower. We squeeze in a little more work and maybe a little collapse before dinner.

But you cannot out-work a fragmented soul. When your nervous system is operating in secret fear or self-protection, it sends a mixed message that most assuredly cuts off divine supply.

To break a drought, you don’t need a sharper marketing plan or more exhausting hours. You need a Divine Reset™.

Here is what that actually looks like when brain and spirit agree.

Story 1: The Bottleneck in the New Home

One of my clients was experiencing a dire, suffocating drought in her sales. She loved the Lord and was executing her business beautifully. In faith, she had just moved into a much nicer home that perfectly matched her income level.

But the moment she moved in—with those higher expenses looming—the well ran completely dry.

The pressure was immense. She was doing everything she knew how to do, but nothing was moving. Her mind was racing with questions: “Lord, where is the divine supply for all that I need? Did I hear you wrong? Why is this happening?” Her nervous system was trapped in an absolute panic loop, trying to force results while drowning in the fear of falling behind on her new commitments.

During our session, we used the Neuro-Spiritual Synchronization process to look past the surface panic. We suspected there was a hidden lie quietly trying to protect her from her own success.

Together, with God, we discovered the exact bottleneck. The moment we acknowledged the lie and reset her alignment, the floodgates opened. Her sales immediately pivoted. Over the next year, she closed more sales than ever before in her career. She didn’t just catch up on her new expenses; she cleared her debt and significantly added to her investment portfolio.

But best of all? She didn’t do it through frantic striving. She did it feeling deeply heard, held, and loved by God.

Story 2: The Anxious Professional

Another client, a healthcare professional, had just sold his practices due to severe burnout. He had achieved massive outward success, but inwardly, he was exhausted down to his bones. Even after walking away from the businesses, the engine wouldn’t stop running. He was experiencing undue, heavy anxiety about what was next.

He didn’t need more money; he needed relief. He needed clarity. But instead of peace, he was met with a nasty little whisper that made him feel like he had to constantly perform, prove his worth, and engineer his next giant leap all on his own willpower. It was completely dampening his natural creativity.

In just one session, we stepped into his subconscious blueprint. We unearthed the specific, hidden beliefs that were choking his peace and making him feel like it was dangerous to simply relax and receive. We aligned his nervous system with the truth of his identity.

The shift was almost instant. The internal war stopped. He began exploring his future with enthusiasm and love instead of dread. Within the month, an opportunity appeared. It was supposed to be temporary, but it quickly evolved into a permanent, highly lucrative position. It didn’t just increase his income—it gave him the time freedom to actually enjoy his lifestyle and his new baby son.

What is Blocking Your Traction?

These life-changing shifts are not random accidents. They are the result of positioning, practiced intimacy, and understanding how the nervous system, mind, and spirit work together.

When you replace the lie of a drought with the empowering truth of your innate value, trusting God becomes so much easier. Peace, power, and prosperity become evident, not just theoretical.

If you are doing all the right things but facing a wall, there is a bottleneck. And it can be fixed.

Much Love,

Maryann

🌟 A Private Space to Stop the Wobble This Week

It is one thing to read these stories and desire that alignment in your spirit. It is another thing entirely to get your subconscious mind and your nervous system to stop warring against it.

When you have used striving, performing, and over-working to keep yourself safe for decades, your body perceives “relaxing and receiving” as highly dangerous. So, you wobble between the truth of God’s goodness and the panic of your old operating system.

You don’t need to fight this resistance alone, and it doesn’t have to be hard or heavy.

On my website, I offer a private, 90-minute Divine Reset™ Session for $597. It is an intimate, deeply focused space where we use Neuro-Spiritual Synchronization to pinpoint the exact, custom-built lie your nervous system is using to protect you, love on it, and safely retire it so you can step into ease and supernatural provision.

Because I want to support this beautiful Substack community in moving from theory into lived reality, I am opening up an exclusive backdoor this week. I have set aside exactly two slots for Substack readers to experience a full 90-minute Divine Reset™ Session for $197.

If you are ready to drag the silent loops of striving into the light and finally let yourself be held and restored, I would love to sit with you.

[ 👉 Who does? Read on…)

That probably sounds strange coming from someone who has spent much of her life talking about God, writing about Him, and helping others discover His love.

It wasn’t that I didn’t admire missionaries. Quite the opposite.

I admired them tremendously. When homeschooling our kids, we probably read every missionary book ever written. We were fascinated.

Men and women who left everything familiar to serve in remote villages. People who slept on thatched mats, lived without modern conveniences, learned difficult languages, and sometimes gave their very lives for the sake of the gospel.

To me, they were the heroes.

Compared to them, my life seemed... ordinary.

Despite the fact I had given up my corporate career to be a stay home mom, and Gene and I ministered in whatever church we were in - multiple times per week… it just didn’t seem to measure up to – missionary.

After my kids left the house, I became a professional coach and soon after, found myself longing to do a private, intimate retreat in an elegant, luxurious location – preferably overlooking the ocean. Most of my attendees were business owners who desired God to be more involved in their lives and businesses. This was the perfect setting.

Well, one morning, I was leading the group through my mindset process… when it hit me:

This was my calling.

This was my happy place.

This was why I was born.

And in that moment, another realization followed close behind.

I never wanted to be a missionary because I was never called to be one.

I almost cried.

Partly with gratitude.

Partly with regret that I had spent so many years buying the lie that someone else’s assignment was somehow more pleasing to God than my own.

That was the day shame left.

Now, maybe you’ve never wanted to be a missionary, so my story isn’t your story.

But perhaps you’ve compared yourself in other ways.

Maybe you’ve admired someone else’s ministry, career, parenting, generosity, faith, or gifts and secretly wondered if God wished you were more like them.

Maybe you’ve felt guilty because what brings you alive doesn’t seem spiritual enough.

Or important enough.

Or sacrificial enough.

After coaching hundreds of people over the years, I’ve noticed something fascinating.

People often come to me longing to discover their calling.

Yet more often than not, they already know.

The problem isn’t that they can’t find it.

The problem is that they judge it.

It seems too ordinary.

Too enjoyable.

Too easy.

Too unlike what they imagine a “real” calling should look like.

But what if God isn’t asking you to live someone else’s calling?

What if the desires He’s placed in your heart—the ones that consistently bring you alive and bless others—aren’t a distraction from your calling… but the very essence of it?

Looking back, I don’t think the greatest gift God gave me that day was permission to lead retreats in luxurious locations.

He gave me permission to stop measuring my life against someone else’s.

Perhaps that’s true for all of us.

Perhaps shame lifts when we stop living under imagined expectations and start living from God’s actual invitation.

And even better… What if the life that makes you come alive isn’t something to apologize for—but something to embrace?

I’d love to hear what resonates with you.

Why I Escaped to the Mountains

And Discovered Location Didn’t Change a Thing

Maryann Ehmann

Did you know that recent surveys suggest that as many as 70–80% of adults report significant stress symptoms and feelings of emotional exhaustion?

Honestly, I didn’t need a statistic to tell me that.

I see it everywhere. People are tired. And not usually from physical labor. Most of us aren’t spending our days digging ditches or hauling lumber.

No, it’s something else. We’re exhausted from carrying invisible burdens.

Responsibilities. Decisions. Financial pressure.

The fear of disappointing people.

The feeling that everything depends on us.

And from what many of my clients express - the nagging sense that the other shoe is about to drop.

Even when life is going well, we’re waiting for the phone call, the diagnosis, the financial setback, the conflict, or the disappointment. We don’t fully relax because some part of us is busy preparing for what might happen next.

And, my friends, that kind of vigilance is exhausting.

I know because I’ve lived it.

In fact, there was a season when I became so overwhelmed that I made my family move to the mountains.

Now I’d love to tell you that it was a spiritual directive, a clear call from God. But actually, I was running from something I didn’t know how to fix.

You see, I had spent years being the person people could count on.

I led Bible studies. I counseled hurting people. I filled in the gaps. I solved problems.

And I had a very energetic 3 year old, a new mom who just had a baby living with us, as well as my husband’s investigative business to manage.

If something needed to be done, chances were pretty good I’d eventually find myself doing it.

At first, it felt meaningful. But it wasn’t long before it stated to feel heavy.

There never seemed to be an end to the needs, the opportunities, the responsibilities, or the expectations.

And because I was capable, people kept asking.

Because I cared, I kept saying yes.

It’s a dangerous combination.

Eventually, I felt like I was dying under the pressure and yet, I couldn’t figure out how to get out from underneath it all. People tried to help me. They told me I could say no. I didn’t have to do so much. But which ball would I let drop?

Letting people down was not an option.

Surely, I thought, the problem wasn’t that I had too much responsibility. The problem was that I wasn’t managing it efficiently enough.

I didn’t want to do less, per se. I just needed to figure out how to do more without collapsing. I felt like I was failing, and I needed help.

Can I tell you how many time-management courses I took? Complete with color-coded planners?

At one point, I even spent a week with Buddhist monks trying to learn the Zen of cramming more items into my already overflowing blocks of time.

It didn’t work. I couldn’t keep the colors straight!

So we moved. I was desperate for room to just breathe and think straight.

Now before you picture a Hallmark movie, let me clarify. These weren’t the majestic mountains of Colorado. It was mostly desert brush, old beat-up homes, and, as I later learned, something of a refuge for fugitives.

But it was what we could afford, and more importantly, nobody knew me there. Not a soul. The fear of disappointing people faded because… well, there was no one to disappoint.

For the first six months, maybe longer, I rested and recovered. All I did was attend to my new home and my very fun little 3-year-old. Gene worked in the valley all day, and so it was just the two of us. I loved it… and yet, as a lifelong doer, this felt vaguely irresponsible.

Eventually, I got my mojo back. I started exploring the area, mom’s groups, churches, etc.

Then something interesting happened.

Everywhere I went, “opportunities” found me… VBS needs someone to teach bible to the moms, the pastor is going on vacation and needs someone to take over his group, a new “friend” is having marital problems… and of course, with my energy renewed, I said yes.

At one point I found myself teaching twenty-five three-year-olds in Awana without a helper because there weren’t enough volunteers. Do you have any idea of all the components to their curriculum?

Before I knew it, I was starting to feel the heaviness press down upon me. Argh. There it was… again!

The mountains may have changed my scenery, but they hadn’t changed me.

I had escaped the people, the expectations, and the endless demands for a season, but somehow the same weight had found me.

Maybe you’ve experienced something similar.

A new job.

A new church.

A new relationship.

A new city.

A fresh start.

Only to discover that after the excitement wears off, the same frustrations, fears, pressures, and patterns return.

That’s certainly what happened to me.

What I didn’t realize was that I was operating from a set of deeply held beliefs that seemed not only reasonable but responsible, loving, and even highly Christian. Had anyone challenged them, I would have gone to the mat defending them.

Then one day, in a conversation with God that was both startling and strangely humorous, those beliefs were challenged at their very core.

And that’s a story for next time! Stay tuned, my friend!

The Day Jesus Loved My Husband Out of His Disappointment

A magnificent love letter to the weary who feel like God is keeping score.

Maryann Ehmann

Recently, Gene, and I were talking about a long-standing desire.

It wasn’t urgent. Even surrendering it.

Ad nauseum.

And yet nothing seemed to change.

One day, I noticed that he no longer seemed frustrated by it.

When I asked him about it, he just shrugged and said he just felt numb.

Huh. Numb. Is that a good thing?

Well, as we talked, it occurred to both of us that perhaps there was a block somewhere. Not because God was withholding anything, but because something about the situation felt stuck.

So I began doing what I often do with clients (which, btw, my lovely husband actually appreciates).

I started looking for the block.

But before I could ask another question, a word came to me.

Disappointment.

Not one disappointment.

An accumulation of disappointments.

The moment I said it, Gene’s eyes lit up.

“That’s it.”

I asked him to spend some time journaling all the things that hadn’t turned out as he had hoped. The opportunities that fizzled. The expectations that went nowhere. The times he got excited only to end up with goose eggs.

He eagerly did so.

When he came back, he had quite a list. As he read it to me, again I was struck by how little emotion accompanied it.

The disappointments were real, but they had become so familiar that he barely noticed their presence anymore.

Over the years, I’ve watched disappointment do something subtle but powerful. It doesn’t just affect our feelings; it affects our vision. It lowers expectancy. It whispers, “Don’t get your hopes up.” It convinces us, “That’s not going to work.”

It’s hard to see new possibilities through the lens of old disappointments.

I suggested he surrender those disappointments to the Lord, even imagine him handing them over to Him, and then ask for something in return. I have long come to know that the Lord wants to give us something in exchange.

Now, I knew this was normal for my husband. Yes, he studies the word every day. Without fail. But, having visions? Not so much. However, he did it as if it were an adventure!

A few minutes later, his face, obviously brighter, he told me what he saw.

In it, Gene saw himself handing a box, with all the disappointments, to Jesus.

To his amazement, Jesus took the box, smiled mischievously, and began tossing it from hand to hand like a hot potato.

Then He added, “I love you and am so glad you’re here.”

And with that, He playfully tossed the box away.

In exchange, what did Jesus give Gene?

Relief.

Humor.

A new understanding of their relationship.

And peace. Beautiful, load-lightening peace.

I think many of us secretly expect something very different from God, like maybe we’re going to get a scolding, a stern, disapproving look, or even a bony finger shaken in our face.

An old Calvin cartoon comes to mind. Calvin, a little boy, wants to skip doing his homework, and on his way out to play, he sees the big, bulging eyeball. It’s funny because that’s how he imagined his dad… and so did our kids. “Dad has the look,” they used to say.

<picture></picture>

But if we’re honest, many of us carry a similar image of God.

Watching. I assumed that if I felt restless, there must be a problem to solve. Surely something was wrong. Often I would journal to God about what was going on. Crickets.

You see, nothing was obviously wrong.

In fact, my life was often quite good during those seasons. God had been faithful. Relationships were intact. Work was moving forward. There was no crisis demanding my attention and no catastrophe waiting to be cleaned up.

Yet beneath the surface, something was stirring.

The things that had once energized me no longer carried the same excitement, and accomplishments that had once felt significant somehow felt less satisfying. Yet there was nothing wrong with my life. God had been faithful, and I had much to be grateful for.

Which left me with an uncomfortable question:

Why did I feel this increasing longing for more?

Because wanting more when life is already good can feel ungrateful, I rarely talked about it. In fact, I didn’t even know how to talk about it.

Yet, the questions persisted.

What is happening?

Why do I feel this way?

What am I missing?

Upon reflection, I can see that I wasn’t missing anything at all. What I was experiencing was the discomfort of standing at the freaky threshold between who I’d been and who I was becoming, with one foot in a life that had served me well and another reaching toward something I couldn’t yet see.

I will never forget the day, after months of trying to take the leap, that I finally left my corporate job.

Did I have a large savings account waiting to cushion the landing? Nope.

Had something terrible happened at work? Nope.

Was my husband’s income sufficient to comfortably support us both while I launched a brand-new consulting business? That would be another nope.

The moment the reality of what I had done hit me, I panicked. I cried. I sat at our kitchen table with my head in my hands, convinced I had made the dumbest mistake of my life.

When Gene came home that day, he shared a scripture he had heard earlier:

“Look at the birds of the air... your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”

Today, that verse is one of the most quoted passages for anxious hearts. Back then, however, it felt as though God had spoken it directly to me.

With that simple reminder came relief. Peace. Perspective. And the courage to keep going.

Within a relatively short period of time, both my business and Gene’s began to flourish.

Now, I know that gaining the clarity to leave a comfortable position is one step in a long line of them, but what I’ve also come to realize is that clarity and certainty are not the same thing. I had enough clarity to leave my job. What I didn’t have was certainty.

I couldn’t see how everything would work out. I couldn’t guarantee success. I couldn’t eliminate the risk. What I had was a growing conviction that it was time to move forward.

Apparently, that was enough.

Over the years, I’ve discovered that most transitions work this way. Rarely have I been handed a detailed roadmap complete with timelines, guarantees, and projected outcomes. More often, I’ve been given enough light for the next step and an invitation to trust God with the rest.

That sounds wonderful when you’re reading about someone else’s life.

It’s a little more disturbing when you’re living your own.

The reason I share this is because so many people assume that if they feel uncertain, anxious, or afraid, they must be on the wrong path.

I don’t believe that’s true.

In my experience, anxiety often shows up whenever we’re standing at the edge of growth. It appears when an old identity is falling away, when a familiar chapter is ending, or when God is inviting us into something we cannot yet fully see.

The presence of anxiety does not necessarily mean danger is ahead.

Sometimes it simply means we’re leaving the familiar.

In retrospect, I see many of God’s greatest gifts arrived disguised as uncertainty. Some of my most meaningful experiences, deepest relationships, and clearest callings were waiting on the other side of doors I initially hesitated to walk through.

The irony is that I often wanted clarity… and certainty… before I moved forward, while God seemed perfectly content to reveal both once I took a step. Good ole God.

Over the years, many have told me they feel restless, uncertain, disconnected, or unable to explain why their life no longer fits quite the way it once did. But lately, it seems more and more people are experiencing this. I feel for them. I know the anxiety of standing on that threshold, peeking around the corner.

If you’ve been carrying that ache lately—that persistent sense that something is shifting beneath the surface—you may not need a five-year plan. You may not need all the answers. You may simply need the courage to acknowledge that the ache is there and become curious about what it might be trying to tell you.

The ache you’re feeling may not be evidence that you’ve lost your way, but there is a new way that has yet to be revealed.

Many blessing,

MA

P.S. If there was a solution, surely I could find it. And if I couldn’t find it, then perhaps I simply hadn’t looked hard enough.

So I would think about it… and pray about it… and turn it over from every angle.

I’d look for patterns, clues, the key that would finally unlock the answer.

As a recovering attorney and lifelong problem solver, this seemed perfectly reasonable to me, and often it was fun. It was part of my nature.

But there were times, more than I care to admit, when finding the solution felt like life or death. I needed to find it… or else.

What never occurred to me was that some solutions aren’t hiding.

They were simply beyond my imagination.

Over the past year, that realization came to me, especially as I wrote my book, and the moment it did, I felt relief wash over me.

After all, when I look back over my life, many of God’s most extraordinary solutions seemed to arrive out of nowhere.

Years ago, I suffered from debilitating migraines. I spent countless hours searching for answers and trying to understand why they kept happening. I researched, experimented, prayed, analyzed, and hoped that the next thing I tried would finally be the thing that worked.

Then one day, lying in bed with another migraine, I reached the end of myself and said, “I’m done.”

For years, I thought I was simply saying I was done with the migraines, and there was that. But I was also done trying to figure them out.

Shortly after saying those words, God said something that had never crossed my mind:

“Call a friend who will pray until it’s gone.”

It wasn’t “Call a friend who will pray,” that was so unusual. It was the … until it’s gone… part that caught my attention.

Until it’s gone??? This looked like an enormous imposition on someone, and how long would it take? I had been struggling for years.

Because I had little strength to resist, I weakly told my husband what I heard, and immediately a friend came to mind. She came. They prayed. The migraine lifted.

And it never came back.

The answer had been completely outside the boundaries of my imagination.

The same thing happened during one of the darkest seasons of my life when I was overwhelmed, exhausted, and terrified about circumstances I could not control. I felt lost and abandoned. I was angry with God, myself, and everyone who dared to talk to me.

Going to bed in the proverbial pit of despair, I woke up to a strategy that startled me enough to move me to my morning chair in hopeful anticipation.

“Get back to love, Maryann.”

Those words changed everything.

As I sat with the Lord, He brought to mind another time when I had been wrestling with financial concerns. It was the first time I heard His solution in the form of a strange question.

“How much do you want, Maryann?”

Not how much do you need.

Not how much are your bills.

How much do you want?

WANT? You mean I get to say?

Within a week, the amount we stated was the amount that came in… for 18 months straight.

The more I reflect on these moments, the more I see God’s heart. He genuinely wants to help us with the things that trouble us, but His solutions often arrive from directions we never would have considered.

Recently, I was reminded of this once again.

I have a friend I’ve known for more than forty years. I love her dearly, but if I’m being honest, she’s not always the most receptive person when it comes to suggestions. Over the years, I’ve watched her wrestle with some of the same challenges again and again, and more than once I’ve wished she could see a way forward.

Eventually, I learned that it wasn’t my job to change her. My job was simply to love her.

Then something unexpected happened.

During a recent conversation, we found ourselves discussing a few changes she could make that might improve her situation. As I shared my thoughts, I braced myself for the resistance I had come to know.

It never came.

Instead, she was completely open. Receptive. Thoughtful. Before the conversation ended, she had committed to taking action.

I sat there in amazement.

To be clear, I didn’t need her to agree with me. And most certainly our friendship did not depend on it.

I was amazed because God had effectively done something I had long ago stopped expecting.

And then I saw - my openness to the beyond and His willingness to provide the beyond – co-created a complete shift in a 40-year relationship.

Just when we become convinced we know how a situation will always be, God reminds us that His possibilities are far greater than our predictions.

My imagination is not the boundary of God’s possibilities.

Um…that’s a writer-downer.

For many years I assumed that peace would come when I finally had the answer. Once I knew what to do, understood the path, and could see how everything was going to work out, then I could relax.

What I have come to see instead is that peace often arrives first. It arrives when we trust that God does indeed have a way forward, even when we cannot see it. It arrives when we remember that He knows how to include us in the solution. And it arrives when we stop assuming that our imagination is the limit of what is possible.

Looking back, some of the best things God has ever done in my life were things I never saw coming.

These days, at least most of the time, I find myself living in that perfect sigh of relief and delightful state of hopeful anticipation.

After all, if God’s solutions truly are beyond our imagination, then perhaps we can stop exhausting ourselves trying to figure everything out and start looking forward to being surprised.

I highly recommend it.

Much love,

Maryann

Is It Really That Easy?

Putting an end to exhausting Then she wrote down all her stresses and gave them to God.

And then this happened…

“After writing all that down, I found myself thinking (because I’m a DOER! lol), is it really that easy?

I think that could be the hardest thing for me to overcome. My mind wants to go to ‘what should I be doing?’

Is it really that easy though?”

I think Angela voiced what so many people repeatedly wonder.

Especially thoughtful, responsible people who genuinely love God and want to do life well.

People who have spent years feeling pressure to figure things out, make the money, help everyone and their brother, be responsible, and avoid failure. And underneath all of that effort is often a deeper fear:

“If I stop striving… will everything fall apart?”

Earlier in the week Angela had also written this:

“The past few months and if I’m honest years, have had WAY too much struggle.

I’ve always been a doer, trying to figure out what ‘I’ need to do to make more money, achieve the desires of my heart, and help my family in the way I want.”

Then later she wrote:

“God’s provision isn’t based on my performance. It’s based on His nature.”

That right there is beautiful truth.

Yet many people still struggle to fully relax into it.

Their spirit recognizes truth while their nervous system still braces for pressure, responsibility, and survival. “Can I trust this? Is it safe?”

As I sat with Angela’s question, I realized something:

The word it is loaded.

Is WHAT really that easy?

Receiving God’s love?
Trusting His provision?
Resting?
Letting go of control?
Co-creating with God?
Abundance?

Or perhaps the deeper question is this:

Can I really stop carrying the world on my shoulders… and trust that God will still take care of me and mine?

Can I loosen my grip a little?

Can I stop believing that everything depends entirely on me?

When I asked Angela what she meant by “it,” she clarified beautifully. She said:

“I suppose in that moment I was thinking is this all I have to do in order to receive my abundance? Like there’s nothing I have to ‘do’?

Obviously I have my part as far as being open to receiving and accepting the opportunities that come my way. But when I think of bringing in new money, I think of creating offers and doing a ton of marketing. All that hard work lol!”

Honestly, I understood exactly what she meant. I have asked God the same question. He knows I never want to be some entitled, bratty slug, waiting around for heaven to rain down on me while I do nothing. (At least most of the time, LOL)

I, like many, have been taught — directly or indirectly — that abundance only comes through pushing, striving, pressure, and exhausting effort. Plus you have to make sure you are doing all the right things. God forbid you fail or make a mistake.

You, too may have learned that, “God may have promised abundant life, but it’s up to me to manifest it.”

I am so pleased to say, those are old beliefs that had to go… and go they did… largely though this amazing divine orchestration.

I call it my “New Money for New Zealand” season.

My son Joe had found the love of his life in New Zealand, and they were to be married. I deeply wanted to be there for the wedding. At first, yes, I started to spiral into pressure and frantic figuring-out mode, but God interrupted me. “What if you could go with new money?”

Oooo.... new money??!!

I felt excited.
Grateful.
Loved.
Connected to God.
Open to possibility... without the pressure.

I had no idea how new money would come in. Just that it would. For sure, I had a few wobbly moments (you can read about them in Chapter 1 of my book), but the whole thing proved to be more of an adventure than me stressing out on how this was going to happen.

There was no marketing, no hustling, and no forcing.

Instead, money began flowing in surprising ways. While this is not a formula, looking back, I can see clearly how God set it up.

First, I was moved to teach a manifesting miracles class simply because I felt grateful and inspired to do it.

Then God prompted a lovely woman from that class to approach me afterward about working with me. She later told me she felt God had specifically led her to reach out.

After that, another woman I already knew needed support. In that instance, I was the one prompted to offer that support for a fee. As it turned out, she had been wanting to work with me for a long time, and this was the perfect time for her. Who knew.

Then another client from the past, who I absolutely adore, resurfaced from a very small offer I had made - almost a year earlier. That $197 offer eventually blossomed into a $10,000 contract.

In addition, someone in Singapore randomly wanted to buy one of my URLs, then a substantial check unexpectedly arrived in the mail, and finally, one of my health care professionals reached out asking me to review a business agreement!

The money came from many different directions; without the exhausting striving I had once believed was necessary.

That season deeply challenged my old beliefs about how hard everything had to be.

Co-creating with God does involve partnership. It involves saying yes, when divine wisdom tells you to. It involves your participation, which is always initiated by God. And it is easiest when you are basking in God’s love, flowing in His favor, and transmitting a signal of love and not fear. This is a whole different energy than hustling for clients and trying to make it happen.

It is a massively wonderful feeling of being alive.

I think many people are longing for that kind of life more than they realize.

A life where love becomes stronger than fear, where trust becomes stronger than pressure, and where partnership with God becomes more natural than carrying the world alone.

So…
is it really that easy?

In most ways, yes.

Love really is lighter.
Receiving really is simpler than striving.
God really is kinder than many people imagine.

Learning to trust that after years of pressure and self-reliance can take some unraveling and while in the way, it can make things seem harder. (Later I will share with you the process God gave me, called The Divine Reset, for doing so.)

But even with unraveling the Gordian knot of doubts, God is present to do so with us. Then we are more open to Love Himself teaching us a completely different way of living.

If this resonates with you, I think my book Co-Creating with God will deeply encourage you. I was letting fear, not love, lead and self-protection was masking itself as wisdom… all of which was interfering with my trust.

Then there was a pause… as if He was cradling my face in His hands so I wouldn’t miss what was next.

“There is a craving in my heart for you to live in accordance with who I made you to be. I need my children to live the life I created for them—to walk in their destiny, to thrive in their calling.

The world is in a sorry place because it does not know this is my design. People ignore the clues. They diminish themselves. They settle for second rate.

But there are those who will lead the way in love.

You are one, Maryann.

I need you to say yes.”

And then this:

“Do not settle for self-protection.”

Yikes. Talk about reading my mail.

As I wrote those words, something profound and catalytic was happening in me: I was converging. Brain. Heart. Body. Nervous system. Spirit. All on the same page.

The part of me that knew God was faithful.
The part of me that wasn’t sure.
The part of me that felt responsible for making everything happen.

They all stopped warring with each other.

Now let me be clear. This wasn’t like a truce... where they all decided to live happily ever after together. No. Far from it. The part that was not true gave way to the part that was. There was only one truth aligning all the parts of me.

Wow.

This is what I call neuro-spiritual synchronization. And it has happened over and over again.

When your mind, your body, and your spirit come into agreement with truth.

When you’re no longer fragmented, believing one thing, feeling another, and acting from something else entirely.

When truth doesn’t just make sense…

It takes up residence in every part of your being.

In that moment, everything settled.

That was what I call The Divine ResetTM.

These life changing moments are not random happenings. They are the result of positioning, practiced intimacy, and understanding how the nervous system, mind, and spirit work together.

There is a process I use to help people experience this kind of shift.

But even without you knowing how, God is God and can come upon us whenever He pleases, for whatever reason He has. These are incredibly delightful surprises.

Any way it comes – I’m deeply grateful for a God who meets us like that.

Who responds when we bring Him our questions, our doubts, even our lack of trust.

Who doesn’t require perfection—just honesty.

This is… Divine Power. Made Easy.

Much Love,

Maryan

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank" Great read. So many good nuggets I’ve heard you say before but forgot. I co-created my dream car with God. I’m picking it up now. I’ve been crying happy tears on and off for a week and a half over how it came together. I know God and only God could have made this happen. But now I feel guilty. Any quick advice?”

That car had been on her vision board for years.

Thanks for reading Magnificent Love Letters! She said she wanted to spend time in God’s presence first and really work through it.

And what she shared was beautiful.

She said the rhema word she received was this:

God had set this in motion a while ago.
But if He had given it to her while she was still striving, she would have believed she had finally earned His love.

Whew.

That right there is gold.

Because that is what so many of us do.

We don’t just want the desire.

Maybe we haven’t thought of it exactly like this, but in actuality, we want the desire to prove something:

that we’re finally doing it right

that we’re finally good enough

that God is finally pleased

that we’ve finally been obedient enough, faithful enough, disciplined enough, surrendered enough…

But God is so much kinder than that.

Sometimes He lets us come to the end of all our efforting first.

Not to punish us, nor frustrate us with delays.

But because if the blessing arrives while we are still trapped in striving, we may mistake grace for wages.

She told me she had gone through a hard season of stress and striving… beating herself up, trying to walk in complete obedience, still trying to earn blessing.

Until finally, she got so stressed she just gave up. (Have you ever been there? I have.)

So… she said she said to God:

“Ok, if You want me to do something different to fulfill my dreams or change, then You have to do it in me. I can’t do this. I don’t know how. I’m done striving. I give it all to You.”

Then she said something I found so honest and so human:

She thought she was just being unmotivated.
She thought maybe she just didn’t care anymore.

Surrender often looks like giving up. The proverbial throw your hands up in the air in total defeat.

Then she went to church.

And that Sunday, she cried through most of worship… not in shame and humiliation, but just reveling in what Jesus had done for her.

There it is.

In her words, “Getting back to Love.”

Pure love. She wasn’t led to try harder, or white-knuckle her way into blessing. And certainly not trying to become worthy enough to receive.

Just… returning.

Receiving.

Remembering.

And something shifted.

Love opens what striving locks down.

And once that happened, things started falling into place.

A financial opportunity crossed her path. A budgeting class she had been taking freed up some cash.

Then—randomly, but not randomly—she saw her dream car on Facebook Marketplace.

In the exact color she wanted.

Near her.

A well-cared for Southern car… not easy to find where she lives. In her price range. The same car as was on her vision board.

Then she met a really nice man and things started going well there too.

Then fresh business ideas began flowing—ideas about partnering with others that had never occurred to her before.

Then favor opened up and she was able to secure a room to hold meetings for free.

Do you see it?

This was never just about a car.

The car was simply the most visible piece.

What was really happening was this:

Favor was flowing.
Love was landing.
Receiving was opening.

And in the middle of all of it, God was showing her something deeper than any material manifestation:

“So with all this God is showing me that in all my mess He loves me just as I am… He loved me first… I’m accepted and loved by God exactly how and where I am.”

That is the miracle.

The car is wonderful.

The favor in her finances is wonderful.

The open door in business is wonderful.

The new relationship is lovely.

But the real miracle is that she discovered this:

God’s love was not a reward for finally getting it right.
It was the very thing that made receiving possible.

That is the part I don’t want you to miss.

If you’ve been carrying a long-held desire in your heart… and the moment it starts getting close, fear, guilt, or doubt rises up… that doesn’t necessarily mean you missed God.

It may mean you’re standing right at the threshold of receiving.

And sometimes the very last thing that has to fall is the old belief that you must earn what love has already made available.

Sometimes the delay is not God’s no. Sometimes it is mercy. Because if it had come too soon, you might have interpreted it through the wrong lens.

You might have called it proof that you had finally become worthy…
instead of evidence that you were loved all along.

That’s why I care so deeply about helping people uncover what rises after the desire.

Because sometimes the obstacle is not the dream.

Sometimes it’s the old story you tell yourself about what must happen before you’re allowed to have it.

And that, my friend, is exactly why I wrote Co-Creating with God.

Friend, please hear me, you don’t have to strive harder for the thing you want.

But maybe it’s time to learn how to:

recognize the desire

uncover the resistance

get back to Love

and receive what God may already be setting in motion

If you’ve been sensing that a long-held desire is still alive in you, but you keep hitting fear, guilt, confusion, or second-guessing…

my book was written for moments exactly like that.

And if you’ve already read it, maybe this is your reminder too:

You do not have to earn what Love has already made possible.

Much love,

Maryann

P.S. If you don’t yet have a copy of Co-Creating with God and this story feels like it was written for you…
