1. I’ve often been criticized for including incidents that are not specifically antisemitic in my digests. I defer to Mohammed Khatib, the European coordinator of Samidoun, to explain why I am not wrong. According to him, Israel is just a small example. Once Palestine is free from the river to the sea, indigenous people, black people, and migrants will liberate the US, Canada, Australia, and dismantle the system of white supremacy and racism by all means. “That’s why there is the decolonization process,” he concludes.

Another prominent Samidounian, Dave Diewert, spoke at a Japanese communist rally in Vancouver. Wait, what? You probably had no idea we have a network of Japanese communist groups in Canada, but their social justice agenda includes “no pipelines,” “housing for all,” and “end the siege on Gaza.” This rally, named “Dismantle All Imperialism!” was dedicated to commemorating the 81st anniversary of Japan’s defeat in WW2. In his speech, among other things, Diewert praised Ko Okamoto, a Japanese communist militant and member of the Japanese Red Army (JRA).

Okamoto was one of three JRA members who, in coordination with the PFLP, carried out the 1972 Lod Airport (now Ben Gurion Airport) massacre. This terror attack killed 26 people and wounded roughly 80. To be fair, the JRA didn’t only target Israelis; they also hijacked Japan Airlines flights (1973, 1977), took hostages at the French Embassy in The Hague (1974) and in Kuala Lumpur (1975), carried out attacks against U.S. diplomatic facilities in Jakarta (1986) and Rome (1987), and bombed a U.S. military-linked USO club in Naples (1988).

The Japanese communists rally together with Filipino communists and predictably their agenda includes all communist struggles worldwide – Cuba, Venezuela, and others.

2. Masar Badil is an organization founded by Samidoun and tightly affiliated with Samidoun and the PFLP. Masar Badil stands for “The Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement.” Alternative to what, you may wonder? Alternative to the peace process.

Today, on August 26, 2026, the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) imposed terrorism-related financial sanctions on Masar Badil and Palestine Action, freezing their U.S.-linked assets and prohibiting Americans from providing them with money or services. Let’s hope that formally designating both groups as terrorist organizations will soon follow, both in the US and in Canada, but I have little hope for the latter.

The smaller, local, lesser-known pro-Palestinian groups, similarly affiliated with Samidoun, carry out pretend-harmless activities, like swim for Gaza, bike for Gaza, a Palestinian soccer league, and poetry nights where anti-Israel activists recite Arabic poems by Palestinian ideologues, like this one: “...leave our country, our land, our sea…”

3. The red-green alliance is more aligned than ever. Metro Vancouver United 4 Palestine, a Samidoun-rival group, marched on the streets of Vancouver with Islamic regime flags and a Cuban flag chanting “Iran will never fall, Israel will take the fall.”

In Toronto, Islamic Regime supporters, joined by the Marxist-Leninist Party of Canada, chanted “Death to Israel” and “Death to America” outside the US Consulate. The speaker yelled into a megaphone “We will die for our cause, we will die for our religion. Allahu Akbar!” Then he went on saying “This is Indigenous land.”

Islam has more in common with communism than might seem at first glance. You can vote yourself into communism or into Islam. You can never vote yourself out of either. And both are globalist movements seeking to take over the entire globe.

But here is a difference: communists don’t forget to include the Islamists in their speeches, chants, and visuals. Islamists don’t necessarily return the favor. An Islamic Regime booth at the Vancouver Art Gallery focuses solely on the Islamic Regime’s heroic martyrs, past and future.

4. The stool has three legs, and the red-green alliance has a third leg too – the black Nazi “leg.” The pro-Hamas lobby likes to compare Israel to Nazis not only because it is so painfully offensive, but also because they want us to forget that it was Haj Amin Al-Husseini who collaborated with Hitler, that these were the Arab countries who welcomed Nazi criminals after the war, and that to this day Mein Kampf is nearly as popular in the Muslim world as the Quran.

An even less talked about major post-WW2 strategic deception is that fascism/Nazism is on the opposite political spectrum from socialism/communism. That’s false. Hitler’s party was called the “National Socialist German Workers’ Party.” Hitler’s socialism was national; Soviet socialism was international. They teamed up, but then Hitler attacked the USSR, and by becoming a member of the victorious Allies, the communists got to control the narrative. The USSR was never held accountable for its pact with Hitler in the lead-up to the war. The USSR wasn’t put on trial for its war crimes. The USSR never acknowledged the crimes against its own people or the number of war casualties. Instead, the victory over Nazism became the foundation and trademark of the Soviet and, to this day, Russian glory. To this day, left-wing politicians fearmonger against even the most moderately conservative parties, labeling them fascists and Nazis. To this day, socialists promote the false dichotomy that anyone who is anti-socialist is necessarily a fascist.

But even knowing all this, as shocking as seeing the hammer and sickle on the streets of Canada is, seeing a swastika is even more shocking. Especially when this swastika is hand-painted on the sidewalk of a Jewish neighborhood.

5. Another abhorrent symbol that is somehow considered acceptable in today’s crazy reality is the inverted red triangle, the symbol used by Hamas to mark its targets. This is the symbol on the T-shirt of a Canadian flotilla activist who suddenly remembered to speak for her “four Tunisian comrades.” She conveniently omits that these comrades are friendly with Hamas North Africa Chief Youssef Hamdan. And if you haven’t heard about these comrades from the mainstream media, it’s because they weren’t detained by Israel, but rather they spent the last 140 days in Tunisian detention.

6. Ali Assakereh was charged with threatening to bomb the U.S. Consulate in downtown Halifax. Thousands of people were evacuated, but luckily no one was injured or killed. Assakereh’s motive hasn’t been disclosed, but suspects in one of the recent shooting incidents at the US Consulate in Toronto had IRGC ties.

7. Last digest quoted an imam who spoke in support of child marriage at the LIT (Learning Islam Together) Convention in Laval Quebec in July 2026. This imam wasn’t an outlier; other speakers peddled anti-Jewish conspiracies, and promoted Muslim Brotherhood ideology: Muslims should not integrate; instead they should take advantage of Western freedoms to push their own agenda. They advocate for economic autonomy and for a united global muslim community that will gain political power and “beat the Zionist lobby.”

In accordance with Canadian, sorry, Muslim values, men and women used separate entrances into the convention and were seated separately, with a wall between them. Several of the convention sponsors received federal grants.

8. The LIT conference was announced as the first one of its kind in Canada, but there are numerous other Islamic conferences and numerous imams promoting similar narratives. Infamous imam Kathrada in Victoria, recently shared a few insights: “Oh Allah, destroy the plundering and occupying Jews along with the infidels and hypocrites that help them. The Muslims, it is their duty to expel the Jews from Palestine.” I’m not an Islamic scholar, but even I know that Palestine is never mentioned in the Quran, not even once.

Kathrada continues: “Falastin is Muslim land and no non-Muslim can rule it.” Have you ever heard Muslims say that Muslims cannot rule non-Muslim countries? No, that’d be Islamophobia. Then Kathrada adds that Muslim land cannot be governed “by democracy or any of these other non-Muslim laws.” So are Canadian values really Muslim values?

9. Another familiar character is Laith Marouf, who defrauded Canadian taxpayers of $120,000 received for “anti-racist” consultations right before he fled to Beirut. In a recent interview, he shared that Palestinians already defeated the “Zionist colony” both militarily and ideologically. He declared that unless the anti-Zionist Jews lead a rebellion within Jewish institutions and synagogues, they will be “Holocausted” – that’s the verb he used – as soon as Palestinians, Arabs, and Muslims finish defeating the West.

10. A new ISGAP report came out revealing the Muslim Brotherhood’s influence spreading and growing across Canadian institutions. I will review it in detail for the next digest. For now, I cautiously wonder, does this infiltration have anything to do with Basem Boshra, a senior director of journalistic standards and public trust at CBC News, instructing reporters and editors not to refer to 9/11 as “terrorist attacks.”

11. Canadian Foreign Policy’s social media continues singling out Israel and criticizing the IDF, while sending hundreds of millions to Hamas and the Palestinian Authority so that terrorist leaders could build more mansions.

At the very least, Israel and foreign relations are within Canadian Foreign Policy’s jurisdiction. But local municipal campaigns also declare that “Inspired by the federal Vote Palestine campaign, we’re making Palestine a key issue in Vancouver’s upcoming elections” – this is a quote from a flyer. Are your streets poorly maintained? Is garbage picked up unreliably? And are schools underfunded? That’s because the city adopted the IHRA definition of antisemism and doesn’t condemn Zionism on a daily basis. Or, as the famous Russian rhyme says, “if there is no running water, the Jews must have drank it.”

The Ottawa mayoral candidate, Neil Saravanamuttoo, pledges to fly a Palestinian flag at City Hall in the Canadian capital. Almost a year ago, PM Mark Carney recognized the Palestinian state. The conditions of this recognition included full disarmament of Hamas and its removal from governing Palestine, but Hamas is still armed and in power. And we still don’t know what the borders or the capital of this declared state are.

12. We keep hearing about all the wonderful academics and medical workers in Gaza who are targeted by the “evil Zionists.” There are some wonderful academic and medical workers in Canada too. For example, Abbas Hamze, a lecturer from the University of Niagara Falls, said at a recent anti-Israel protest in Toronto, “British colonizers planted the cancerous state of Israel right in the heart of Islam.” He then added: “Zionists make black magic and they rape, eat, and kill children.” And followed it up with the Arabic “Khaybar Khaybar, ya yahud, Muhammad’s army will return.” The Toronto hate crimes unit has launched an investigation.

The nurses’ union wrote a letter to Mark Carney calling on his government to take “concrete steps toward justice and peace to stop Israel’s genocide in Gaza.” Naively, I thought that the Canadian nurses’ union existed to advocate for nurses in Canada. Just kidding, I am not that naive; I didn’t really think that.

For months I thought about making something special for the 100th issue of the digest. But it seems even more appropriate that this post is as casual as the antisemitism around us. Have all antisemites, like Gurpreet Singh Saini, a young, athletic, and heavily armed realtor from Kelowna, BC, always believed that all Jews are pedophiles and terrorists and only just become comfortable saying it out loud? Or is this a new realization they came to?

Either way, this is a battle we are in for the long haul. It’s going to get worse before it gets better. How much worse? God knows. Or maybe God hasn’t made up his mind yet. If we show enough courage and stand strong, who knows, maybe it’ll make us all more worthy of his mercy.

Pulling into the tunnel, the train slowed, lurched, and with one last clang, stopped.

“Why did we stop?”

“When are we moving again?”

Phone flashlights helplessly struggled to pierce the pitch dark. The passengers stirred, flustered as an indistinct voice crackled over the speakers. Some elbowed their way from the back of the car toward the front, others the opposite way. Those seated by the aisle cursed loudly when jostled by handbags and backpacks. Doors banged between the carriages. Finally the lights came on, and an elderly woman by the window scowled at the young man in the seat across from her:

“Look at him, sprawled out!”

She clung tightly to her shabby purse and pointedly turned away. Her seatmate, on the contrary, looked at the young man sympathetically. He lay curled up on his side, knees drawn to his chest, arms wrapped around his head, face hidden. She touched his shoulder gently:

“Are you unwell? Would you like some water?”

The young man moaned.

“I am Laura,” she introduced herself. “What is your name? Where are you traveling from?”

He was neatly dressed in city style: light-colored denim shirt, and a strip of tan on bare ankles between the tight trousers and sneakers. Typical character from Laura’s past — that ordinary office life among boulevards, hipster cafes, and fashionable young crowds.

“Don’t worry, we came to a smooth stop, so it’s nothing bad. We’ll be moving again soon.”

Laura patted his shoulder and chatted on, not expecting a response. She told him she had moved to the village where her husband grew up. They’d decided to raise their children in the countryside, closer to nature. Laura’s voice murmured on, soothing and steady, and eventually the young man straightened his knees, sat up, and lowered his hands from his head. His name was Greg. He was probably the same age as her, but, pale with fear, Greg seemed practically a teenager. Laura, on the other hand, in her baggy dress and tacky, tightly-wound headscarf looked a great deal older.

“What station are you headed to?”

Turned out, he needed the same station as her. Turned out, she was a neighbor of Greg’s mother. It’s been a while since he visited his mother, Greg explained. Too busy working. He strived to be a good son. He would call her once a week and listen to her wistful monologues without interrupting. He sent her presents for name days and holidays. He hired a team to bury the old well and lay a water pipe. He paid for installing a new fence and was saving up to renovate the house.

This morning a neighbor called. She told Greg that his mother had fallen ill and wasn’t getting up. She told him to drop everything, hop on a train, and come. He dropped everything and went. Mobile reception disappeared a hundred miles away from the city. He didn’t know whether he was going to nurse or to bury her.

“She is such a dear old lady,” gasped Laura, and corrected herself, “such a dear woman. She was a huge help for us at first, sharing instruments and advice. And she also looked after the kids, they adore her!”

When they reached the station, Laura dragged Greg with her.

“What’s the point of waiting and then huddling on a shaking bus? My husband is picking me up in a car.”

“Well, if it isn’t the lost boy!” yelled Roy, the husband, noticing Greg, and explained to Laura, “He fell into an abandoned well when he was a kid. The entire village searched for him, and we pulled him out barely alive.”

Greg stayed quiet in the back seat. He recalled how, shortly after his fall, the well’s lid had opened and a faint light glimmered far above. He took a deep breath, but before he could cry for help, a shout came from above – “Anyone down there?” The shout bounced off the damp, slick walls, a frantically ricocheting, deafening echo in the black shaft. Greg shut his eyes, covered his ears with his hands, his tongue stuck to the roof of his mouth, and he couldn’t make a sound. The lid slammed shut.

Three days later, Greg was pulled out of the well unconscious. He didn’t speak for several months, then somewhat recovered. He grew up, left to study in the city, and became a fairly successful manager. He still dreaded darkness though. He installed a smart-home system, so the lights came on the moment he turned his key in the lock – a friend helped him set it up. Greg was in great physical shape – he lived on the eighth floor, worked on the tenth and never used an elevator. He never rode the subway or went to the movies or parties – nowhere dark. In the darkness of the stuck train, he relived being a little boy, choking at the bottom of the well.

“Are you car sick yet?” Roy barreled down the bumpy country road, his voice thundering, barely fitting inside the vehicle. His voice matched his broad shoulders and heavy chin. Roy felt boxed in – in the city, in the car, everywhere. No doubt he wouldn’t have stuck around in that well for even an hour; he’d have clawed his way up that wall, teeth and all, but he’d have gotten out!

On the doorstep of his mother’s house, the old gossipy neighbors awaited. They twisted their thin lips at the sight of Greg – “Look who cared to show up” – then shrugged and dispersed. Greg spent the entire night holding his mother’s hand, listening to her ragged breathing and feverish whisper. Past midnight she began to grow delirious, remembering the days when everyone was searching for Greg. Why did he never ponder what she went through back then? It just never came to mind.

She never regained consciousness. Greg left in the morning, without waiting for the funeral, under the condemning glances of the neighbors. He couldn’t bear to watch the lid close on the coffin, or witness his mother lowered into the dark pit.

Greg returned to the city, went back to working, to being scared of the dark, and to avoiding elevators. He sent Laura money for the monument. She replied, promising to take care of everything. Her own parents were buried far away – maybe someone in turn would look after them too. Once a year, he would receive a picture from Laura of the tidy grave with fresh flowers at the headstone.

On the tenth anniversary, Laura wrote a letter: her eldest daughter sang remarkably and she dreamed of studying at the conservatory. Could Katie please stay at Greg’s place that summer, during the entrance exams? Soon Katie arrived – bustling, jolly, wearing Laura’s colorful headscarf. She practiced every morning, her voice filling his quiet routine with tinkling spring commotion, or the velvet rustle of a wheat field.

When Katie failed her conservatory exams, he consoled her and convinced her to stay in the city and try again next year. He hired a tutor, lying that her mother had sent the money. Katie trilled through her morning scales even more diligently, and met him after work with a hearty dinner.

He never deluded himself and expected nothing. She was youthful and pretty, and he was dull and much older. Once after dinner, she put on some quiet music and lit candles. As soon as she dimmed the lights, Greg jumped up abruptly, waved his hands, and let out an awkward squeaky cry. Katie looked at him, startled, snorted, and left for her room. She was hardly attracted to him, he consoled himself – more likely just lonely in a foreign city.

Since that evening she began avoiding him. She would quietly sneak out of the house before he was awake and return, unnoticed, after dark. He didn’t impose his company, for fear of scaring her off. He left her fleeting signs of affection – a smiley scribble on a napkin, a few dandelions in a cup. Katie showed up less and less, until, finally, she stopped coming at all.

All nights long he achingly waited for a door creak, for the treasured rustle of her footfall. He punished himself by turning off the lights and lying in complete darkness, cringing, covering his face with his hands, choking. He recalled his mother’s last fragmented mumblings, how, having lost all hope of finding him by sunset of the third day, she went to the well to drown herself, how she stared long down into the blackness until she finally noticed the small, motionless figure of a child.

Once more the lid of his well opened a crack, and slammed shut again.

1. Two Jewish-owned bakeries were targeted in Toronto overnight – one shot at, another vandalized. Shots were fired at the US Consulate in Toronto – this is the second time this year. Shots were also fired at the headquarters of the Jewish-owned, pro-Israel company, INKAS Armoured Vehicle Manufacturing in North York, Ontario. All three incidents took place at nighttime and no one was injured. No arrests have been made, no suspects, and the motive wasn’t officially announced.

The case is similar for Noam, the kosher restaurant in Montreal that was burnt overnight. It is being investigated as suspected arson. Rumors circulate that cameras show a man fleeing the scene right after the fire started. None of the above was confirmed as an antisemitic attack, I don’t jump to conclusions. But I also don’t dismiss the possibility.

However, Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow promptly denounced the attack against the bakeries as antisemitic. Maybe she should sit this one out. Only a few days earlier she did a photoshoot with the leaders of Palestine House, an NGO that mourned the loss of Hamas leadership.

As horrible as Chow is, Bahira Abdulsalam, a Toronto mayoral candidate, if elected, will make us remember Chow with nostalgia. I wanted to check the spelling of Bahira’s last name and as I was typing “Toronto Bahira… ” Google kindly completed the search term to “Toronto Bahira Palestine.”

2. A recent report by Canada’s Integrated Threat Assessment Centre (ITAC) revealed that authorities have disrupted four separate ISIS-inspired violent extremist plots targeting Jewish communities in Canada since 2023.

How many more ISIS-inspired individuals are there in Canada? Considering the half a million illegal aliens that were estimated to be in Canada a few years ago, and the inability of Canada’s Minister of Immigration to share updated numbers today, my confident guess is that the number is higher than zero.

3. A man was arrested for allegedly attempting to slash an Israeli food tent at the multicultural Heritage Festival in Edmonton. Maybe he was inspired by the three-hour-long protest organized against the same Festival by Jewish anti-Zionist organizations together with the Palestinian Student Alliance, screaming “All Zionists are racist.” But if the unconfirmed report that the man was of Somali descent is correct, then ISIS-inspired is more likely.

4. In Montreal, the pro-Palestine jihadis continue protesting in front of a church of all places. The hateful rallies in Toronto’s Jewish neighborhood and the harassment of Jewish senior homes or mental institutions have become routine.

One of the regulars at Toronto’s hate rallies, Ahmad Jarrar, also known under the alternative name Ahmad Hassan Hajahmad, was arrested and charged with acting for the benefit of and in association with Hamas. He is the apple that didn’t fall far from the tree – his mother, Khaleda Jarrar, is a PFLP terrorist in Ramallah. His sister, Yafa Jarrar, is a lawyer and human rights activist with the Legal Centre for Palestine in Toronto.

Eight more pro-Hamas protesters in Toronto were arrested and charged with public incitement and willful promotion of hatred, including Daniela Bonamico, a burlesque dancer and recent “freedom flotilla” activist. I will hold off celebrating; previously, similar charges ended up being dropped shortly after.

5. Also in Toronto, five police officers were found guilty of misconduct for comments on Muslim outreach podcast, where October 7 was described as a positive factor in the spiking number of conversions to Islam. Correlation doesn’t mean causation, but anecdotally one of the podcast hosts, Const. Farhan Ali, was later independently charged with three counts of sexual assault. All five officers are still employed with TPS; Ali has been suspended with pay.

6. An international advocacy campaign for the release of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya has reached Montreal. Don’t let the “Dr.” title confuse you – Abu Safiya is a Hamas commander. I don’t know what makes him so special, but there even are people in Israel rallying for him.

7. A few examples of abundant antisemitic graffiti and stickers include: a huge “Stop treating Gaza like a future land acknowledgement“ poster glued on top of a bus stop in Vancouver and an official ad inside a Calgary bus promoting a “Run 4 Palestine” event.

Note: any “for Palestine” event is antisemitic, because it implies a Palestine from the river to the sea, which implies the destruction of Israel.

In one of the gorgeous lakes in the Rocky Mountains in Alberta, a half-Canadian, half-Palestinian flag was planted in the ground.

In a Vancouver liquor store, a BDS activist group sings completely out of tune about the need to boycott Israeli wines. I don’t know about you, but I really need a drink after hearing their singing.

In the darker corners of the internet, even forest fires are blamed on the Jews, sorry, Zionists – all of them, from Argentina to Mexico, Hawaii, Australia, and Canada. How so? Immature people want to believe in evil demons who are responsible for everything that’s wrong in the universe, and Jews, sorry, Zionists, are a convenient target.

Antisemites in Kitchener showed impressive levels of creativity with their installation of a destroyed mock Israeli tank and an inscription “End Canadian Complicity” on it. What’s even more impressive is the number of hijabi women in the video of Kitchener’s city center. Nate Friedman made a series of videos about the Islamization of cities in the US. I’m afraid Canada isn’t better.

8. Palestine Action Canada claimed responsibility for various vandalism attacks, including against Scotiabank in order to pressure it to divest from Elbit, an Israeli-based defense company. Palestine Action Canada also identified a list of dozens of Canadian companies connected to the Israeli defense industry as targets for future “direct action.” Direct action is just a fancy word for violence and vandalism.

Palestine Action Canada also declared a coordinated national day of action on August 13 – mark your calendars. The UK designated them as a terrorist entity. Canada should too – please sign a petition.

The Conservative Party of Canada is calling on the government to designate Kata’ib Hezbollah as a terrorist entity. In case you are wondering, Kata’ib Hezbollah and Hezbollah are closely linked but distinct organizations. Designations are no more than feel-good gestures. In reality, designated organizations, like Samidoun or the IRGC, continue operating freely.

9. Naheed Nenshi, the leader of the Alberta NDP, issued an apologetic statement for taking a photo with the Israeli ambassador at the Stampede. His statement listed multiple false and unsubstantiated accusations against Israel. This doesn’t come as a surprise, considering the NDP became an anti-Israel party long ago. At the Dykes March in Vancouver last weekend, the NDP provided “Queers & Trans against Genocide” signs.

A group of activists is pressuring the Maple Ridge city council to sign a pledge “demanding an end to Israel’s apartheid regime, settler colonialism, and military occupation.” Municipal elections are happening in October, and I suspect we’ll have more Mamdani-cosplaying mayors and city councillors. If you live in Metro Vancouver, please make sure to vote for your best local candidate. I will try to compile a review shortly.

The United Church, the biggest Protestant church in Canada, went full “woke” long before the term “woke” was coined. Islamists slaughter and oppress Christians all over the world. When Jordan controlled Jerusalem, Christians had no access to the holy sites. Israel is the only country in the Middle East where the Christian population is growing. But today the United Church promotes the anti-Israel apartheid libel, declares itself apartheid-free, and organises “Be Palestine Together” events.

10. Mark Carney’s infamous “Canadian values are Muslim values” seems to be affecting Conservatives too, and a few Conservative MPs proudly posted about attending an Islamic event. And while the Globe and Mail calls for us to be in solidarity in the face of Islamophobia, I’ll list my reasons to be in full solidarity with Islamophobes instead:

– In Toronto, a farewell ceremony for Ayatollah Khamenei was held last month.

– In British Columbia, at the halal food festival, the Islamic Republic flag was proudly waved.

– Imam Said Rageah, the founder of Sakinah Islamic Community Centre in Toronto, spoke at a faith conference in favor of honor killings. This reminded me of Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s story about a second-generation Somali immigrant who came from Toronto to find a bride in Somalia because according to him, Canadian-Somali girls are too Westernized.

– Another Montreal-born-and-raised imam, Shaykh Daood Butt, explained in his sermon that it is okay to marry girls significantly younger than 18 and consummate the marriage once she is “mature.” In his long and muddled speech, he entertains the idea of a mature 5-year-old.

11. Blocking streets for public prayers has become so routine on the East Coast that I hesitate to mention it. Probably in a few years we’ll see this happen in Vancouver too. Gad Saad says that two decades ago, one would barely ever see a woman in a burqa on the streets of Montreal, but today you cannot walk a block without encountering one. In Vancouver, the number of women in hijabs has noticeably increased in the last few years.

According a ISGAP report, MAC – Muslim Association of Canada, an organization with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and allegedly a sponsor of Hamas – operates 29 schools, 23 community centres, and received $6 million from the Canadian government, $3.9 million from Qatar Charity, and made $48.6 million in revenue in 2023 alone. I cannot help but wonder what the numbers are in 2026.

The Tasneem Institute is holding a “Father and Son” Islamic retreat in Squamish. It is advertised as “a unique opportunity to connect with scholars” and “deepen your understanding of Islam.” One of these scholars, Shaykh Azhar, declares that the US and Israel manufactured the migration crisis in Spain, that “US and Israel want to slaughter children with impunity,” that “Nobody is safe from the dangers of Zionism,” and that “Israel has no right to exist.”

If this doesn’t make you even a little bit Islamophobic, then I fear you too.

12. A speaker at SFU graduation wore a keffiyeh and dedicated his speech to “genocide in “Palestine.” He focused on a made-up number of supposedly murdered Gazan students. Like Gazan journalists, a non-negligible percentage of them are likely Hamas. Even an immigration system as flawed as the current Canadian one has rejected more Gazan student visas than it approved.

I never considered Simon Fraser University in Metro Vancouver to be the worst of all in academia, but in this digest it is definitely standing out. SFU’s Dr. Baharak Yousefi was recognized with the Dean of Graduate Studies Convocation Medal. Dr. Yousefi self-identifies as a “refugee on stolen Indigenous land” and is known for advocating for BDS and the annihilation of Israel. She posted, “Zionism is vile, inhuman, deranged, monstrous.” The sad irony is that Dr.Yousefi is a librarian for History, International Studies, Liberal Studies, & Political Science at SFU’s library founded by a Jewish couple, Samuel and Frances Belzberg.

While at it, I happened to look at SFU’s scholars and research associates at the Centre for Muslim Studies. They include Amira Elghawaby, the pro-terrorism figure, who served as the Special Representative on Combatting Islamophobia. In addition to a few other anti-Islamophobia advocates there are many scholars focused on anti-colonialism, post-colonialism, and anti-racism. It’s ironic, because no society today is more racist and colonial than the Muslim one.

Anecdotally, one of SFU’s Muslim studies scholars, Dr. Alnoor Gova, is affiliated with Vancouver’s chapter of the communist ‘No AI’ movement.”

13. Princess Margaret Secondary School in Surrey, BC, is not officially an Islamic school, but it acts as one: they have the principal in a keffiyeh, girls in hijabs and full veils, Muslim clubs, Muslim prayers, and a ban on serving pork.

On the other hand, in a private school in Victoria, BC, a Jewish teacher, who told a co-worker that her friend’s son was killed by Hamas on October 7, received an anti-Israel rant in response, followed by hostility and retaliation that led to her losing her job.

14. A few noteworthy mentions from the Arts & sports rubric: Dov Turgeman, an Israeli soccer player playing for a US club was welcomed in Montreal with chants of “Death to Israel” from the stands.

Trans March in Vancouver was dominated by “Free Palestine” chants, and a Queers for Palestine speaker shamed the traditional Vancouver Pride Society for not endorsing Palestine enough. I missed the most conventional Pride event this year, but last year’s featured more Palestinian flags and keffiyehs than I could count. This year, the Jewish Federation of Vancouver was represented by a digital billboard truck messaging that Jews are too scared to attend the event. This is a pathetically weak message and yet another reminder that the Jewish community leadership is not and will not be fighting for us.

15. Several articles came out this past month about Jews leaving Canada due to the overwhelming rise of antisemitism in Canada. A survey of 1,000 Canadian Jewish medical professionals and students reportedly found that only 1% considered antisemitism a severe problem in the medical field before October 7, versus 98% afterward.

Some call for the US to grant refugee status to Jewish families fleeing Canada.

I keep thinking of Charlie Kirk’s response to a Jewish/Israeli student on a US campus, who was threatened by the encampment keffiyeh people and asked: “What would you do as a Jewish person on campus?”

Charlie replied: “I would learn how to defend myself. It’s hunting season for Jews in this country right now. That’s a sick thing. Jews are open for targeting right now from the Arab radical left. You need to then get tougher and you need to fight through it. Your people are very tough, you’ve been through a lot. It’s a sad state of affairs that that’s what America has come to.”

Israel didn’t survive through complaining and asking for protection. Israel survived through being the toughest, the strongest, and the smartest. Israelis fight as if their lives depend on it, because they do. And so should we. Am Israel Chai.

I apply similar principles to my other skills. I haven’t mastered writing yet, but I’ve already moved on to practicing my filming and video editing . I blame my friends—they gifted me a professional microphone and light for my birthday not long ago. Every day that I don’t make a video, the equipment glares at me with disappointment.

I’m running late on the upcoming antisemitism digest, not only because it’s long, but also because I was busy making video reports from Pride events in Vancouver last weekend. I went to the Trans March and the Dyke March, so you don’t have to:

Considering Vancouver’s demographics, I find the spread of communism more pervasive than the spread of Islam. Recently, I was driving along one of my regular routes and noticed a half-Canadian, half-Chinese flag in someone’s front yard. I stopped to take a photo and posted it. It may have been my most viral post, with over a million views, but it wasn’t well received. I was so surprised by the reaction that I even made a video about it:

I continued researching the movement against AI in Canada and North America more broadly. Behind the idealistic, incoherent, and often contradictory arguments–water and energy, humanity, and creativity–another, darker pattern emerges: rage against oligarchs and exploitation, and calls for expropriation and the dismantling “the system.” Predictably, the trail leads to the Chinese Communist Party:

My Hindu friend and I ended up agreeing that Islamists are more immediately barbaric, while communists are more systemic and strategic. We also agreed that we must fight both with all we’ve got. Both ideologies aim to destroy everything that Canada stands for.

1. Various censorship laws are being introduced and passed in the Canadian Parliament. Shamefully, many Jewish organizations supported the newly passed Bill C-9, but obviously the law is only as good as the political will to enforce it. The prominent Torontonian antisemite Naveed Awan Bahadur explained at a recent pro-IRGC rally how to properly avoid being charged – you just need to say Zionists instead of Jews and Israel instead of Israelis – these aren’t a protected class.

Naveed’s anti-Israel activism long predates the post-October 7 war in Gaza. He doesn’t follow his own advice – he spews blood libels directly against Jews but we are yet to see him charged.

2. Another prominent Jew hater in Toronto, David Perks, who is known for putting up swastika signs on Toronto street corners, referring to Jews as “scum of the Earth”, hoping “Israel burns down,” and posting photos of “Jewish-Zionist” minors on his social media, came up with a new creative idea to harass Jews – he put up signs on sidewalks with photos of attendees of the pro-Israel rallies.

Flying terrorist flags on Canadian streets has become routine. Among the most popular ones is the Islamic Republic, and the Palestinian flag. Critics would complain - why is flying a Palestinian flag antisemitic? Let’s see. When was the Palestinian flag invented? In the 1960s, as part of the invention of the Palestinian identity and the founding of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The only Palestinian identity trait is hatred of Jews, and the only PLO’s goal is liberation of the world from Jews and the Jewish state. So everyone who flies the Palestinian flag, whether they know it or not, calls for genocide of Jews.

More and more Jew haters are no longer pretending. In Kitchener, Ontario, mailboxes were vandalized with “Death to Israel” graffiti. Even during a supposedly unrelated anti-AI protest in Vancouver, I heard screams of “Death to the IDF” in the crowd.

3. And to all Canadians (and other Westerners) who still think that this is a far away foreign conflict, I’ve got news – the pro-Palestinian movement doesn’t only call for the destruction of Israel. The pro-Palestinian activists disrupted and screamed over the Canada Day ceremony in Victoria under the indifferent gazes of the police officers. If someone needed an illustration for tolerating the intolerant paradox, that would be it.

In Vancouver, Dave Diewert, the director of Samidoun, and other Samidoun activists joined forces with Filipino communists to rally against all Western states and call for Intifada “from Philippines to Palestine.”

4. I lost count of the synagogues that were firebombed in the last year alone, but recently at a sentencing hearing in Montreal, 20-year-old Mohamed Ilyess Akodad admitted that he was promised $15,000 to firebomb three targets and was paid $3,000, which he spent on drugs. He was intoxicated when he firebombed the Beth Tikvah synagogue and he claims to have not known he was targeting Jewish places.

He said: “To the Jewish population: I am not a monster. If someone burned down my mosque, I’m sure I would say that person is a monster,” and refused to identify his accomplices. The range of the sentencing, which will be delivered in September 2026, is between 10 months already served, requested by defence, and 24 months sought by the Crown.

5. The distance from vandalism and death threats to physical violence isn’t substantial. In Montreal, a young man ambushed and attacked Orthodox Jewish men. He jumped out of a car and stole their traditional hats – custom-made, $5-10K worth – from three out of four of his victims. The fourth man chased him away.

Worse than that, in Toronto, Abdulkadir Al-Jelani, 58, who self-identified as a Yemeni Houthi, allegedly verbally and physically assaulted Joseph Bitton, a real estate agent and lawyer. Al-Jelani not only shouted antisemitic slurs and threatened to kill Bitton, he also attacked him with a parking pylon, bricks, metal objects, and a tree branch. Fortunately, Bitton sustained only minor injuries. Out of dozens of bystanders only one intervened to help until the police arrived and arrested the attacker after about 35 minutes. Thankfully, we are not in the UK, where the police would have arrested the victim.

6. Of course, none of this compares to the horrific shooting that took place in Montreal on Monday, June 22. As a result, the suspect was shot, but only after he shot a police officer, and a passerby was tragically killed by another police officer in the crossfire.

I cannot help but mention it because all Jewish institutions rushed to announce it as an antisemitic attack. I don’t think it was. Yes, the shooter hated Jews, but he also hated women and capitalists. Yes, the attack took place in a neighborhood with Jewish businesses, but he didn’t seem to target a Jewish business or Jewish people. The civilian who was shot was Jewish, but the police officer was Muslim. The mainstream media rushed to portray him as a right-wing extremist, but based on his own manifesto, he was, in fact, a communist.

I think it’s time we designated communist organizations as terrorist entities.

7. In May this year, Mohammadreza Pakatchian, a 41-year-old Iranian PhD student at Carleton University, filed a judicial review against Immigration Canada over delays in his application. The court dismissed his application, but the Canadian public got to learn a fascinating story. Truly, the stupidity of our country is only mitigated by the stupidity of our enemies.

In 2022, Pakatchian was accepted into Carleton University’s aerospace engineering PhD program and even received a scholarship. In early 2023, CSIS and CBSA looked at his profile and flagged him as a national security risk, but he was admitted into the country nonetheless. The office of Yasir Naqvi, a Pakistan-born Liberal MP in Ottawa, made an inquiry about Pakatchian’s visa status but claimed to not have been informed about the security concerns.

Pakatchian works for MAPNA, an Iranian company sanctioned by Canada for its role in weapons development, studied at a university linked to Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, and has ties to an academic specializing in ballistic missile technology. He spent 3 years acquiring expertise that could lead to an “intangible transfer” of sensitive knowledge upon his return to Iran. This case fits the overall growing concern among security officials that Iran uses students studying abroad to strengthen its military capabilities, particularly following the improved performance of Iranian missiles and drones in the 2026 war with Israel.

8. “Love for Imam Al-Mahdi knows no borders and has made its way to the heart of Canada’s Capital, where we too have joined in on the unified call to our awaited Imam,” says the promotional video of Ahlul-Bayt (Amir Al-Mu’mineen) Scouts, an Ontario-based Shia youth organization. One of the figures associated with the Shia community in Ottawa was Sheikh Ali Abou Raya, a senior Hezbollah cleric, now deceased. The Ahlul-Bayt Scouts organization’s themes, symbols, guest speakers, and training relationships share concerning similarities with Hezbollah’s Imam al-Mahdi Scouts in Lebanon. If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck…

Another Shia-related activism was the Ashura procession in Toronto, where Islamic Regime flags and Ayatollah portraits were proudly on display. In Vancouver, this year the annual Ashura procession was cancelled due to FIFA, but from witnessing it in the previous years I can attest that it feels like a time machine ride back to the Islamic Middle Ages. Truth be told, the Islamic Middle Ages aren’t very different from Islamic modernity.

9. The mosque in Regina (temporarily) cancelled the public broadcasting of the call to prayer, citing threats. But only after the Regina Police Service basically threatened public opposition to the broadcasting, citing the hate crime legislation.

Muslim Brotherhood purchased a church near the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa and converted it to a mosque. Trucks and tables are seen around Vancouver offering free Qurans.

At the Muslim Circle of Canada (MCC) Convention 2026, the following is said by Canadian Islamic thought leaders: “Muslims came to build the best nation, Muslims came to build a society,” and also, “We’re not here to make money, we are here to fulfill the mission of Islam.”

Do I need to explain why the proselytizing of Islam belongs in this digest? Because there isn’t a single Muslim-majority country where Jews could safely live. That said, there isn’t a single Muslim-majority country where minorities or women have equal rights either. And there isn’t a single Muslim-majority country with freedom of speech, expression, or religion.

10. A few days ago, various Canadian elected officials began posting Islamophobia condemnations in unison. The trigger was an alleged attack on the head of the Masjid Al-Iman mosque in Victoria, who was sitting in a vehicle, when someone tried to open his vehicle and then told him to “go back to his country.” If only I got a penny every time someone told me to go back to my country, or better yet, to Poland.

The imam in question is not the famous Victoria Imam Younus Kathrada, who called Jews and Christians enemies of Allah and Muslims, and called for annihilation upon “criminal, plundering Jews”; it’s Kathrada’s successor, Ebrahim Ali. Ali “escaped the incident without serious injuries,” says the article; the suspect is in custody.

The Canadian Muslim Public Affairs Council demands $40 million taxpayer dollars to secure their approximately 755 mosques and 100 Islamic schools. The speaker doesn’t forget to mention that this is proportional to the $10 million allocated to protect the Jewish community, but he omits who the Jewish community is being protected from.
I have two follow-up questions – considering the 755 mosques, why pray on the streets? Also, considering 100 Islamic schools, how many mosques will be in Canada in ten years?

The latter could be an arithmetic problem in elementary schools. Maybe the Halton Catholic District School Board will want to solve this problem once their staff completes the anti-Islamophobia training, which is provided by the Hamas-supporting National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) for over $30 thousand dollars.

11. Canada is known to be a safe haven for terrorist organizations. To make their operations even easier, the Canadian Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree announced that the forthcoming Foreign Influence Transparency and Accountability Act will not require the registered foreign agent to disclose their compensation and any cash transactions, calling this disclosure “unnecessary.”

12. The Canadian government-supported media is predictably consistent with the government. CityTV shows somber coverage of the funeral of Khamenei, featuring voices of regime officials and supporters, and amplifying their anti-US rhetoric.

Canadian Tax Specialist Fatemeh Dabiri traveled all the way to Iran to attend and cry at the funeral. I’m sure she isn’t the only one. If Canada had a better government, we’d ban these terrorism supporters from re-entering.

Another mainstream media outlet, Toronto Star, published an opinion article propagating numerous anti-Israel blood libels, unsubstantiated accusations, and calls for Canada to cut diplomatic ties with Israel.

Canada is getting there. The NCCM is praising Mark Carney for not responding to the Israeli Ambassador, who is raising concerns over the despicable “Nakba” exhibit in Winnipeg. Samira Mohyeddin, an award-winning Canadian “journalist” (and this is basically everything you need to know about the state of Canadian journalism), and a Gender and Genocide scholar was mocking the anti-Nakba exhibit protesters for protesting the exhibit without having visited it.

I never interacted with Samira, but she blocked me on X long ago, so I won’t be able to tell her directly: we don’t need to attend the exhibit; we know the entire Nakba narrative is fake.

13. Quick digression and an additional perspective on journalism. We keep hearing that Israel targets journalists, but just recently the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) removed 20 names from the list of journalists supposedly killed in Gaza. Their work is not done – from my own records of terrorists masquerading as journalists, I checked one name at random, and it hasn’t been removed from CPJ’s list.

Doctors are hardly better than journalists, and if anyone had any doubts left about MSF (Doctors Without Borders), JPost wrote an expose on the systemic anti-Israel bias of this organization.

14. Paul Koven, the former top lawyer at the Toronto District School Board (TDSB), has filed a $3.3 million lawsuit against the board. The lawsuit alleges a “poisoned and systemically antisemitic” work environment and board’s refusal to address rising antisemitism, including his former supervisor Leola Pon making antisemitic remarks. The resulting stress led to Koven’s medical leave, which the board allegedly used to force his constructive dismissal.

15. To wrap up this endless digest, let me list a few diverse events, again and again proving my hypothesis that antisemitism inevitably makes people stupid:

• The infamous Queers & Trans for Palestine Cabaret Fundraiser

• Torah for Palestine, studying “towards gaza’s protection” and for a “liberated future for every Jew, Palestinian, Muslim, human being on that land.”

• The Revolutionary Communist Party Edmonton “School of Revolutions” in Edmonton, Alberta. Why is it antisemitic? Well, apart from all the keffiyehs and the fact that these were the communist who invented the Palestinian nation, I don’t even know where to start.

d) And my personal favorite event is the “UBC encampment reflection workshop“ — memory mapping and community discussion, two years on. Please allow me to offer my personal reflection in the form of my most viral YouTube video to date!

16. And last but not least, a few selected antisemites:

• A woman, who filmed herself singing “I hate Israel“ at the Jewish cemetery in Montreal, Canada.

• Zaki Choudhury, who called for “anti-Zionism laws,” whatever this means. Does he suggest that Canada should legislate that Israel doesn’t exist? Zaki is a Deputy Technical Lead for Toronto-based global wealth management platform FNZ group. I think he is in the wrong industry for such claims.

• Amjad Ramadan, such an avid anti-Israel protester that he managed to get himself fired from his engineering job. He glorified Yahya Sinwar, denied the rape of Israeli women on October 7, and called for the destruction of Israel. He is suing his former employer, and to make his case more appealing he is now protesting with a Holocaust inversion poster. Or maybe he thinks that protesting in a winter jacket in 36-degree summer weather makes him unrecognizable? If so, he cannot possibly be a competent engineer, right?

Thank God, we live in times when a woman has a choice. Even so, a choice always exists, only it takes a different form.

I am thinking about a woman standing on a railway platform. In each of her hands she holds a precious child’s hand — one bigger, one smaller. The train is about to depart, and it is a one-way route to a death camp. The shapeless human mass is pushed into the railcars by armed guards. The woman must choose which child the train will swallow, and which one she will scoop into her arms in an attempt to save.

When I think about her, I am so terrified that I wish I had only a single child. You can wrap your arms around the only one and run until your strength gives out. With two, you cannot escape.

And then I think of another woman. She stands neck-deep in a swamp, holding a two-month-old baby in her arms. The baby won’t stop crying as the Nazi German soldiers approach. She looks around at her fellow partisans. They look away, but the woman understands. She lowers the baby deeper into the thick mire. Her breasts swell. A few small bubbles break the surface.

When I think about her, I am so terrified that I wish I never had any children.

And then I remember a third woman. She lies on the floor in a dark room with a straightened metal hanger in her hand, getting ready to tear her womb into a bloody mess. She is not afraid of physical pain — she gave birth to her first child by C-section with nothing for anesthesia but her own sleeve to bite. She hardly fears anything at all; the war took her parents, the man she loved, and her freedom.

I think of them, and a merciless voice asks me – could you have done it? Could you have made that choice there, on the platform, in the swamp, on the floor with the hanger? And I cover my ears so as not to hear, and I cover my mouth so as not to answer.

I think of my great-grandmother. During the siege of Leningrad, hers was not a single choice, but a relentless series of daily choices, starving herself to save her own daughter, my grandmother, who was pregnant with my mother.

In these images, I am photographed with my mother and my grandmother, and my daughter, with me and her grandmother. And I pray to all the gods I do not believe in. O Lord, who art in heaven, let me live my small, meaningless life without knowing hunger, or untimely deaths, or inhuman choices. Let me one day take a photograph with my daughter and her daughter.

Then, I might as well die.

Followed by an incoherent rant about capitalists first exploiting the workers–which is bad–and now finding a way to not employ workers–also bad. Literally, when capitalists find a cure for cancer, this crowd will still be complaining.

Article 3 of Qatar’s Penal Code: “No... public meeting shall take place without obtaining a licence.”

Article 15: “Any person who conducts or organizes a public meeting... without a licence shall be punished...”

Article 136:

“The penalty of life imprisonment shall apply to any person who instigates by public means to overthrow the regime of the country, or conducts propaganda or calls by public means for the adoption of a doctrine aiming to destroy the fundamental values of the State...”

PPS: All these young woke people are not only stupid, they are dangerous. I wish we could make them listen to James Lindsay’s “An Open Letter to Woke Youth” They won’t. And I’d hate to live to tell them, “we told you so.”

• Yes, kids in residential schools were given uniforms. Kids in many schools used to have uniforms. Some still do. That’s not genocide. In a way, that’s compassion towards underprivileged children, who don’t have nice clothes.

• Yes, kids were given haircuts. That’s called hygiene. If you consider hygiene to be “Western culture,” then yes, Western culture was imposed on them, and it’s a good thing.

• Yes, kids were taught English. It’s called immersion. Modern French-immersion schools are considered the best public schools. Learning English was a good thing, especially considering that many of the children had no other common language to communicate, as indicated by the guide herself.

• Yes, kids were assigned numbers, just like all kids in schools today have a PEN (Personal Education Number). This is called data indexing. But kids weren’t referred to by numbers – it’s a lie.

“Residential school denialism” is not allowed on the tour, so I kept my mouth shut. “Residential school denialism” is a nonsensical term. No one is denying that residential schools existed. They existed – it’s a fact. But the seeming absurdity of the term aims to obscure its true intent.

The flawed term is used to construct a flawed comparison between “residential school denialism” and “Holocaust denialism.” The misleading claim about kids being assigned numbers in school pursues the same nefarious goal. By equating these two terms, one is implying that the very existence of residential schools constitutes a genocide. This is truly evil.

The Holocaust was the intentional, systematic, and state-sponsored extermination of Jews. Residential schools were educational facilities. During the six years of the Holocaust, the number of people murdered on average on a daily basis is comparable to the total number of children who died in the 150 years of the existence of the schools.

In case you missed the key difference: murdered and died are not equivalent. About 6,000,000 Jews in the Holocaust were murdered. Roughly between 4,200 and 6,000 kids in the Indian Residential Schools died, mostly from diseases, occasionally from accidents (on average, this is at most 40 children every year across the country).

More false claims from the tour guide:

• It was illegal for more than two Indigenous people to even gather together; you could be arrested.

• The Indian Act said that if arrested, it’s illegal for the Indigenous person to have representation in a court of law.

• Does no one in academia care about facts anymore?

“Words mean different things to different people.” That’s why you are no longer allowed to disagree or even question any statement – maybe you are just interpreting words differently. What is decolonization? What is sovereignty? No one knows, but if you question the sacredness of these ultimate goals you are a racist, a fascist, and a bigot.

Canada is also a diverse country, so it has many different problems. In our previous episodes, we talked about Islamization, compromised public safety, and ideological capture in academia. In the more recent ones, we touched upon socialism and decolonization.

To be frank, thirty years ago, when the Soviet Union fell apart, I naively believed that this was the final nail in socialism’s coffin, and we just needed to handle the aftermath. I was ten, so this may excuse my naivety, but I held on to this belief for too many years afterwards. I was obviously incorrect.

Decolonization is a socialist tool aiming to dismantle the existing Western system so that socialism can take over.

This is why I think it is important to listen to our political opponents and enemies – like a broken clock, they occasionally say true things. “Every struggle is interconnected,” but not for the reasons they tell us. In reality, socialists manufacture various struggles and weave them into their poisonous, tangled web of militant victimhoods.

On the bright side, we only need to knock out one of this ideology’s foundational pillars, and the whole structure collapses.

Happy Canada Day!

1. As shocking as targeting Jewish schools and hospitals is, every shock eventually becomes routine. This time, guys with keffiyehs, Palestinian flags, and a megaphone screamed at Jewish seniors home in Toronto. The police were observing.

Attacks on synagogues no longer come as a surprise either: this time in Montreal it was arson, and the police arrested the suspect shortly after. A few days later, on a Friday night, an object was thrown through a window of a synagogue in Toronto. Nobody was injured, and no suspects have been identified to date.

A female rabbi from the Montreal synagogue who self-describes as a “pro-Palestinian Zionist” was interviewed after the arson attempt. “People who attack us don’t care whether we want peace and a two-state solution, whether we like the current (Israeli) government or not,” she complained. This sounded as if according to her, throwing a Molotov cocktail at a synagogue that supports Netanyahu would have been understandable. To confirm my suspicions, she explained that their synagogue has strong connections with members of other faiths and NCCM reached out to express support.

2. NCCM, National Council of Canadian Muslims, is an openly pro-Hamas lobbying group. Recently they issued a statement naming Canada the most Islamophobic country in the G7, where Muslims are most likely to be murdered, and where the hatred targeting the Muslim community “continues to intensify across the country.”

3. Omar Alghabra is a fascinating character. On one hand, he defended the NCCM against the accusations of their ties with Hamas. On the other hand, he advocated removing Hamas and Hezbollah from Canada’s list of designated terrorist organizations. To make his biography even more impressive, he was placed on the newly formed council for combating antisemitism that Mark Carney announced during his recent visit to a synagogue.

4. Sadly but predictably, Carney’s Liberal Attorney General refused to prosecute Samidoun Director Charlotte Kates. According to Sean Fraser, being a director of a terrorist entity, glorifying terrorism, calling for terrorism, and organizing events where brochures with instructions on how to commit mass terror attacks are distributed does not reach the prosecutorial threshold.

5. Predictably, yet still sadly, none of the legacy Jewish organizations like CIJA or Jewish Federation bothered making a statement about this refusal to prosecute. After all, calling out the Liberal government might get in the way of doing photo ops and having “excellent conversations” over fancy breakfasts or dinners. Instead, CIJA’s VP Nico Slobinsky thanked the Provincial BC NDP AG, Niki Sharma, for launching “the province’s Anti-Racism Action Plan.” Quick reminder: Niki Sharma also refused to prosecute Charlotte Kates when the Vancouver Police recommended charges that required a Provincial AG approval. Slobinsky never brings this up. With friends like this, who needs enemies?

6. Mark Carney and the Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand always rush to issue condemnations of Israel or threats to arrest the Israeli PM. They are suspiciously silent on the UN report about Hamas executing and maiming dozens of Palestinians in Gaza, or the suspension of ICC chief prosecutor Karim Khan over sexual misconduct.

Instead, Anand announced an additional $100 million to the Palestinian Authority and Hamas in Gaza. In the announcement, the Canadian government also insinuated that Israel is impeding humanitarian assistance and declared sanctions against “Jewish settlers.” The demonization of Jews living in Judea by the media and Western governments is appalling. Islamists routinely murdering hundreds and hundreds of Christians in Africa don’t get even a tiny share of this outrage directed at them.

Since October 7, diplomatically labeled as “the beginning of the conflict” in the announcement, Canada has sent half a billion dollars to Hamas and the PA. This sounds like a Canadian variant of the pay-for-slay policy.

The Canadian government also joined the UK, Australia and New Zealand in announcing an International Peace Fund for Israelis and Palestinians to support peacebuilding efforts. “The Peace Fund will invest in programmes that advance a two-state solution, help reduce division, strengthen civil society, and support dialogue and cooperation within and between Israeli and Palestinian communities, building the foundations for peace.” These pretend-peace initiatives always consist exclusively of criticism of Israel and complete disregard of Palestinian terrorism and the avowed intent to destroy Israel publicly declared by both the Palestinian leadership and Palestinian society.

7. A two-state solution is still the official policy of the Conservative Party of Canada too. Recently, Pierre Poilievre gave a very weak answer to the question of whether anti-Zionism is antisemitic. He blabbed something vague about how Liberals make society divisive. The correct answer is: yes, anti-Zionism is antisemitic.

8. The Walk with Israel in Toronto this year on June 7 was the biggest to date – 60,000 attendees. Pro-Hamas activists harassed attendees and yelled “baby killers“ at Jewish kids. To my surprise, the Toronto Police arrested a woman with the Islamic regime flag and a sign that said “death to Israel“ in Persian. A total of six arrests were made during the walk.

9. Toronto Police were busy at work lately. They arrested five people for promotion and incitement of hatred targeting the Jewish community at demonstrations at Bathurst and Sheppard in April and May 2026. The five are Hosaam Hemdan, 19, Omer Turcan, 43, Syed Hussaini, 43, Hasan Aydin, 48, and Yasaf Shaikh, 46, in addition to the earlier arrest of Muhammad Anas Sial, 33. Demography is destiny or am I being Islamophobic again?

The Toronto police Counter Terrorism Security Unit also arrested an additional four people – two adult men, one male youth, and one female youth – involved in several incidents where members of the Jewish community were shot at with an imitation firearm. The investigators are still seeking two additional suspects, a male and a female.

10. Often the seemingly random attacks against Jewish institutions and individuals are not so random. Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi – an alleged commander linked to Kataib Hezbollah and Iran’s IRGC network, who allegedly coordinated such attacks in various countries including Canada, was arrested and charged in the US last month.

Al-Ahrar Palestinian Prisoner Support organization issued a statement calling for his release. Al-Ahrar is a part of Masar Badil – Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path. Masar Badil, in turn, was founded by Charlotte Kates’s husband Khaled Barakat, who is the leader of Samidoun and PFLP, both designated terrorist organizations. Should I make a diagram of the whole network for AG Sean Fraser?

Last week, the Toronto police announced that they are investigating a “gun-for-hire” system in which teens and young adults were allegedly recruited through encrypted messaging apps to carry out shootings at targets including the U.S. consulate and Jewish institutions.

Two firearms were seized by the TPS during the investigation, one linked to at least six different shootings across the GTA and another to at least twenty-one shootings. Tragically, the latter is also the firearm that was used to murder Const. Marc Pinizzotto while he was executing a search warrant connected to this investigation. May his memory be a blessing.
Const. Pinizzotto’s murderer was apprehended and is expected to be charged with first-degree murder.

11. The Quebec police also made an arrest – of a brave man who stood up to the noisy, road-blocking pro-Hamas demonstration in a residential neighborhood. It was weird: first, they told him to leave, and as he was leaving, they chased him, threw him on the ground, and beat him up. This unreasonable and unjustified brutality is shocking and I hoped the Quebec police would just declare it a mistake and a misunderstanding and apologize. But they haven’t.

12. Thirty years ago, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) warned about Islamic fundamentalists exploiting the Canadian refugee claims system to bypass security screening and establish local cells in Canada.

Fast forward to today, Canada has a disproportionately strong presence of Brotherhood-linked organizations. The Muslim Brotherhood is a transnational extremist Islamist movement. The MB’s global strategy is “civilizational jihad,” meaning gradual institutional and cultural takeover. It’s described in Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s book “The Infidel.” Hamas is its offspring and the same pattern is described by Mosab Hassan Yousef in Ramallah. The MB starts as social support, schools, daycare, community centers, support for the poor,… mosques. Many MB-linked organizations operate as non-profits and charities. Before you know it, the population is dependent and the youth are radicalized. Moderate Muslim countries ban Muslim Brotherhood. The tolerant West, not least of all Canada, is too scared of being labeled Islamophobic to deal with the threat.

13. The UK should be a warning to us all. They already have many Islamist city councillors and even mayors whose platform is Shariah law and the liberation of Palestine. There are still fewer in Canada, but there will be more if we don’t wake up. Take Toronto mayoral candidate Bahira Abdusalam, for example. Who could have thought there could possibly be a worse candidate than Olivia Chow?

The East Coast is a lot more Islamized than the West Coast, but nowhere is safe. Last week, for the first time ever in Regina’s downtown, the Muslim call to prayer was broadcast over outdoor loudspeakers. This was a broadcast test and it lasted for just over three minutes. For now, it is planned to only be sounded once a week, but Islam is known to take a mile after being given an inch – and then another mile, and some more. Listen to the sound and imagine hearing it five times a day, every day. A childcare centre, an Islamic school and a masjid will be opened in the same building within the next year. Rings a bell?

Calgary isn’t immune either. A public school encouraged teachers to attend a mosque and a gurdwara to learn about Islam and Sikhism as part of cultural competency training. At the mosque, female teachers had to cover their hair or stay outside. Notably, a visit to a church wasn’t included in the training. On the contrary, in the name of cultural inclusion, the teachers were instructed to avoid “Merry Christmas” in favor of “Happy Holidays.”

14. Canada is hosting FIFA these days and accompanying incidents are a microcosm of everything that’s wrong in the world:

a) Decolonization activists protest against FIFA chanting “No FIFA on stolen land” and waving Palestinian flags.

b) It’s a common narrative: Israel, like Canada, is a colonial state, and both should be destroyed. In Victoria, BC, an activist declares in front of the Legislature: “Once we decolonize Turtle Island, naturally there will no longer be any Canadian complicity in genocide.” Even some Jews have already forgotten that we should believe when people promise to destroy us. Most Canadians are still oblivious to this concept.

c) Israel’s team is not participating in this tournament, but obviously it didn’t stop the anti-Israel activists from putting up “Kick Israel out of FIFA” banners along a highway in Toronto. FIFA banned the Iranian Sun and Lion flag, but it allows Palestinian flags. FIFA didn’t ban the keffiyeh, and several terrorism-supporting performers wore keffiyehs on stage. The keffiyeh used to be a traditional Middle Eastern garb, but Yasser Arafat made it the symbol of Palestinian terrorism, and this is the only way to interpret keffiyehs in the West.

d) A Somali referee, Omar Abdulkadir Artan, was denied entry to the US because of his alleged ties to Al-Shabab, the Somali variant of Al-Qaeda. Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow denounced this decision by the US and said that he is welcome in Toronto instead because Toronto believes in fairness and inclusion. British Columbia’s Premier David Eby rose to the occasion and said that in B.C. the Al-Shabab-linked referee will be treated “like gold.”

15. It’s graduation time. At McGill, a keffiyeh-wearing activist disrupted the ceremony and chanted, “We are interrupting our own graduation, McGill continues to fund genocide.” At Concordia, an activist who paraded a Palestinian flag on stage was, to my surprise, escorted out of the ceremony – not until she walked across the entire stage, but hopefully it discouraged a few others from repeating her performance.

16. A Canadian professor complains about over 100 “exceptional Gazan students” who are awaiting their visas. According to him, Canadian academia is in grave danger if the delay persists. But don’t worry – Canada has promised to fast-track visa processing for Gazan students stranded abroad. Of course, a separate complaint is that the arriving Gazan students are interrogated too harshly at the border. Why would border security question young people from an area where the majority of the population supports Hamas, while others likely support Palestinian Islamic Jihad?

17. Another scandal is unfolding around a Nakba exhibit at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg. It was found that Palestinian Authority representatives took part in the development of the exhibit. Some people question the appropriateness of foreign terrorist propaganda in the Canadian Human Rights Museum. Others, for example, Hanna Kawas, the chairman of the Canada Palestine Association, who celebrates October 7, has been promoting Nakba lies in Vancouver for nearly three decades. Let me save you a trip to Winnipeg – what is the Nakba? (1) Arabs start a war and evacuate from the war zone; (2) Arabs lose a war and cannot go back.

18. I never thought this day would come, but today I want to thank the Toronto District School Board. I don’t know what their motivation was, but they canceled an Anti-Palestinian Racism educational session, despite complaints from Toronto Palestinian Families — a group tied to the Palestinian Youth Movement and to CCP’s Code Pink.

The Toronto Public Library, on the other hand, did not surprise me in any way. They are holding “A night of solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Gaza,” featuring prominent antisemitic speakers, including Sabreena Ghaffar-Siddiqui, who famously tweeted that “...a military force to protect Palestinians from being genocided already exists. It’s called Hamas.” The event is sponsored by Oxfam, an international confederation of NGOs advocating for BDS and arms embargo.

19. To wrap this up, the exodus of Jews out of Canada is ongoing: Gad Saad left temporarily last year and is now leaving for good, mostly because it is unsafe for him to be on Concordia campus. Montreal’s chief heart surgeon, Dr. Emmanuel Moss, is leaving too. We could still console ourselves that Montreal is worse than the rest of Canada. This could still be true, but unless something dramatically changes, the rest of Canada will quickly follow.

After the meeting, I stayed around to get a sense of the FIFA vibe. If you know me even a little bit, I don’t really care about soccer; I was looking for Palestinian flags. I didn’t find any, but I found some Khalistani ones. Same same, but different, but still the same. Or as the Russian saying goes, same eggs, but in profile. In Russian, we also say that a pig finds dirt everywhere.

Then, as I was walking towards the stadium, I struggled to remember the last time I had seen so many Canadian flags in Vancouver. Maybe never. It saddens me that sports and the hatred of Trump seem to be the only things that awaken so much patriotism in Canadians. I was walking through crowds of joyful, carefree, smiling people. I was hoping that their mood would rub off on me.

It didn’t. It was bright and hot, but I felt like a stranger in my city. I wasn’t even dressed in the right colors. As I walked, I was noticing the cops – Vancouver Police, RCMP reinforcement, and private security. Wondering – were there bollards on the streets during the 2010 Olympics? Or are they the natural outcome of the calls to globalize the Intifada revolution?

Granville Street is closed for traffic. The mostly red and white crowd flows up and down. Suddenly I heard chanting and clapping. Boys, about two dozen older teenage boys walking up the street yelling ‘Let’s Go Canada!’ They are noisy, they are jumpy, they are energetic! They are so energetic that their wild, uncontrollable energy is bursting and spilling. I follow them, filming, run around their marching crowd, as they keep chanting and singing – not for the camera, but because this is what they are here for.

They don’t even have tickets to the game, it seems. They are not Vancouverites. Where is BC Place? Let’s go there! And they race off in the opposite direction. They are still boys, but on the very verge of becoming men. They have this massive, untamed, restless, young group energy.

On an unusually empty Vancouver Art Gallery plaza, for a few quick seconds, they form a disorderly line and a girl in a short denim skirt takes their photo. Then they notice a shaved ice truck on the side of the plaza and run towards it, hopping, almost flying, over the benches on the way.

I walked away, towards my bus stop, and before I could realize why, I started crying. Yes, right there on Robson Street passing by the high-end fashion stores. The anniversary of D-Day had been a little over a week earlier. I remembered seeing a photo of young men, all about 18, on a boat. Also young faces. It’s a still black-and-white photo, but their young male energy is palpable. About 90% of them didn’t survive the day.

A pro-Hamas protester asked me once: “So, you are ok with innocent civilians dying at war?” He was so outraged that he could barely breathe, but It wasn’t the gotcha he thought it was. Only a spoiled, ignorant person, completely detached from reality, can think that wars are avoidable and that casualties are avoidable in wars.

Civilians die at war. Soldiers die at war; a soldier isn’t some lesser species, unworthy of living. A soldier doesn’t stop being innocent when he puts the uniform on. People die at war. Armed and unarmed people die at war. Innocent people die at war. It’s not a matter of whether they do; it’s only a matter of how many.

As I wait for the bus, I think about Iran, the MOU, the ballistic missiles, the terror proxies. These soccer fan boys are oblivious to any of it. I picture my own boy; he is only slightly younger, but similarly noisy and energetic; a little clumsy at times because he grew tall so suddenly and so fast that he isn’t fully used to it yet. He spares no thought for today’s war or last century’s war either. But at the end of the day, if it comes to that, it will be these smiley, naive boys going to war. I bite my lip and I pray to God that it doesn’t come to that. I don’t even know if I believe in God, but I pray to God that none of these boys have to get on the boats, planes, tanks…

And then I think of my friends’ sons and daughters on the front lines. And I feel so guilty, so ashamed of my stupid thoughts and my stupid tears. I look through the bus window, the sun is shining, cafes are full, Canada won the game 6:0, and this whole universe feels as artificial as a modern art exhibit.

They were evacuated to the town of Essentuki in the Caucasus. For a few months, it was good and quiet, and there was enough food. Then Nazis occupied the town. For a few more months things weren’t bad. Nazi soldiers even held dance parties in the local community center and some women went dancing. Then one day posters went up across the city — on Saturday at 10am all Jews were told to gather at the train station. Each could bring up to 20kg of luggage.

Here it gets hazy. The family story, as I remember it, says that my grandma in her youth was still a devoted communist, and so when she read in communist newspapers that Nazis killed Jews, she believed them. But later in life, I read Vasily Grossman’s “Life and Fate”, and now I know that Soviet newspapers did not publish it. One way or another, my grandma knew. She did not go to the train station.

Instead, the night before, she took her one-year-old daughter and three other young Jewish women, and they ran away into the kishlaks — small villages in the mountains. They had many adventures, some funny and scary, others only scary. It wasn’t safe for the four of them to stay together, so they split. They had to move from one kishlak to another. But they made it to the end of the war. At least my grandmother and my mother did. I don’t remember what happened to the other three. There is no one left to ask.

Shortly after October 7, a non-Jewish friend asked me: do you observe Shabbat? I said: no. He was puzzled: so what does being Jewish mean to you? I explained: it means that when the time comes, they’ll put my children and me on the train. I was being over-dramatic as I tend to be. Back then I didn’t really believe that there would be trains. I also never really felt Jewish before, but this is genuinely how I define being Jewish. I bought my first ever Star of David and an Israeli flag on October 9th. When I first wore the Star of David in public, I was mentally prepared to be attacked or at least yelled at. It didn’t happen.

My daughter often jokes, “Mom, why do you always worry about minor things?” I worry about minor things because I am too scared to worry about the serious ones. Like, will I make the right decision in time, like my grandmother did, abandon our home, and make a run for our lives? Where will we go? Alberta? Down south to the States? Up north to Alaska?

I still don’t really expect there to be trains. But I am keeping an eye. This is why I write the antisemitism digests — I want to stay on top of things. This is why I go to the pro-Hamas rallies — I’m testing the temperature. At first, they made a point of never touching me. Soon they started shoving me around a little. Since last fall, things have escalated to light assaults. If there are trains and we survive, I’ll write a book about it, so my grandchildren don’t need to wonder what really happened.

Shortly after October 7, I listened to Rudy Rochman’s interview with Sami Steigman, a Holocaust survivor. He explained that we must analyze the trends that led to the Holocaust. He said that back in the early 30s, things were bad, but nothing was predetermined yet. There were still Jews in positions of power in Germany. But they did nothing. He explains that in one of the concentration camp museums, there are entire suitcases of letters that Jewish leaders, secular and religious, wrote to each other. And they all agreed: it will pass. Don’t make noise. Don’t rock the boat. Be nice. Just sit it out.

If it so happens that there is a museum about our period, my email exchanges with CIJA and the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver could fill an entire such suitcase. I am less shocked that the 1930s leaders did nothing. I am outraged that our modern Jewish leaders didn’t learn the lesson. I don’t know if there will be trains. But if there are, our modern Jewish leaders will guide us to board safely and in an orderly fashion, without making noise, without attracting too much attention to ourselves. For that, they’ll expect to be put in a first-class car. But it’ll be the kind of train without first class.

Esti was missing for almost two weeks, and I cannot and do not want to imagine the hell her parents lived through. Thank God, she was found “safe” and in “good physical health” according to initial reports. That’s all we know at this point.

2. Also in Toronto, the Revolutionary Communist Party marched. They complained that “The US and Israel are preparing hell on earth everywhere. And for what? For a war they cannot win.” They chanted “We need the system 6 feet deep.” Is it consoling to be hated together with the US? Only slightly.

The march leader yelled: “Their (US and Israel) pathetic ambitions come with a price tag and they want us to pay for it, while they make revenue profit.” It’s almost funny, because it’s either “revenue” or “profit” and none of these people really pay for anything.

A new concept recently introduced and quickly popularized by the communists is the “Epstein class.” It references Jeffrey Epstein and targets criminal, corrupt elites. However, I predict that quickly the corrupt criminality will be forgotten and what will remain is only the obviously Jewish last name being synonymous with pure evil.

3. In Vancouver, the Communist Party of Canada together with unions marched against AI and datacenters with mostly handmade posters saying “No AI,” “Fuck AI,” “Housing, not data centers,” and “Water your garden, not AI.” These were mostly young people, the so-called TikTok generation. Who knows if they realize that TikTok uses AI, but they chant the reusable slogan “hey hey, ho ho, data centers gotta go.”

I was surprised by seeing very few keffiyehs in this crowd and I only included this protest in the digest because I saw a video of a guy complaining that the anti-AI march was allowed to block a road, but the pro-Palestinians marches aren’t allowed to do that. He sounds so convincing that I had to remind myself that I personally documented dozens of pro-Hamas marches blocking streets.

4. As a quick detour, in other tech news, Vancouver’s Web Summit along with various AI experts, CEOs, founders, and politicians featured also the following speakers: Ryan Schwank, an ICE whistleblower and an infamous Jewish antisemite Gabor Mate, who used this opportunity to claim that “the American empire is dying.” Another speaker was Hasan Piker, who said that America deserved 9/11 and called to murder capitalists so that the streets soak in their blood. But my personal favorite is Amazon Labor Union Activist & Co-founder Chris Smalls. He is a true revolutionary – he was arrested for disruptive protests in the US many times, and he went on a Gaza flotilla back in 2025. What do all these have to do with Web technology?! First they ruined arts and rock climbing for me, and now they finally got to IT.

5. The pro-Hamas Montreal4Palestine group paraded an effigy of a Jew wearing a kippah, hanging from a noose on the streets. After public outrage, the group has argued that they didn’t hang a generic Jew, but rather very specific Jews – Ben Gvir and Netanyahu. They also hung an effigy of Donald Trump and hit Netanyahu’s effigy with a drumstick.

So they hung effigies of specific individuals, does it make you feel better? If not, here is a video that will: a restaurant manager is so fed up with pro-Hamas protesters harassing his business that he turned a water hose on them. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll see the Canadian police giving them the treatment they deserve. Today is not the day, our police are patient like a kindergarten teacher, but the activists cry about police brutality anyway.

6. Canadian flotilla “heroes” were enthusiastically welcomed in Toronto airport. I know some of these activists for their multi-years pro-Hamas advocacy and harassment of Jewish Canadians, but of course, these flotillas are an unending saga of hypocrisy. Various officials of various governments condemned in the harshest way possible the treatment of the detained flotilla activists in Israel. Predictably, I haven’t seen many condemnations of the activists being beaten in Spain or disappearing in Libya. What’s most upsetting is that Jews and Israelis, who joined the chorus of condemnations of the Israeli police, went radio silent at the sight of the beating of the flotilla-crew in Spain.

Obviously, all the torture accusations made by these Hamas-cheering folks are pure nonsense, but I am not even arguing whether the Israeli police was or wasn’t too harsh in their treatment of these Hamas-adjacent-funded, law-breaking activists. I am just tired of the Jewish constant demonstrative self-flagellation and performative compassion olympics. Dear fellow Jews, they will flagellate you without your assistance.

I was similarly frustrated to watch Jewish organizations competing in their condemnations of the San Diego Islamic center shooting. This Islamic center was a Hamas-sympathizing and affiliated organization. On October 18, 2023, they held a “Glory to Our Martyrs“ vigil, sponsored by SJP, CAIR and AMP (organizations with ties to Hamas), Palestinian Youth Movement (an organization with ties to PFLP and Samidoun), Jewish Voice for Peace, and others. One of the victims of the shooting was a fan of Hitler. No, I am not saying they deserved to be shot; the terrorists who killed them are murderous morons. But we should save our mourning for more deserving causes. That’s my opinion. I don’t mourn Hamas-affiliates in Gaza – why would I mourn them in San Diego? My lack of mourning for Hamas-lovers is geographically-agnostic.

7. Speaking of Islam. Gad Saad tells that when he came to Canada in 1975, there were barely ever women in burqas in Montreal, but in the later 2010s he couldn’t walk two blocks without seeing one. Massive and loud public prayers became routine in Toronto as well. Vancouver is lagging behind, but anecdotally, I see more and more women in hijabs, men in Muslim garb, and even Islamic preachers on the streets.

8. MAC–Muslim Association of Canada–held a convention in Toronto. One of the invited speakers, Anas Altikriti, was (surprisingly!) banned from entering Canada for failing to disclose that he had been denied a US visa and for his past meetings with senior Hamas figures, including Ismail Haniyeh. He appeared on zoom and told the audience: “I hate the word integrate. It’s a tool used to beat the Muslim community with. We don’t need to integrate.” Altikriti’s father allegedly led the Iraqi branch of the Muslim Brotherhood and Altikriti himself has led organizations with alleged extremist ties.

Another notable speaker was Khaled Al-Qazzaz. If you Google his name, you’d find in various previews that he is an educator, a philanthropist, and human rights activist. He is “a Canadian who languished for about a year in solitary confinement in a notorious Egyptian prison.” It takes a slightly more dedicated research to find that he was imprisoned for being part of Mohamed Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood government in Egypt. MB is banned in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, and a few other Muslim countries. It is Canada where they get to operate freely.

Khaled Al-Qazzaz explained that Muslim Brotherhood is the biggest Muslim organization and “everywhere they went they organized to preserve and spread the balanced Islam.” He said “we establish, organize and bring people together,” admitting his ties to the MB. He then praised Hasan al-Banna, the founder of the MB, and encouraged youth to engage in organized activism rooted in Islamic revival and to sacrifice for it.

Other speakers included:

– Nabil Sultan, MAC’s director of communications & community engagement, who said: “the unusual value that comes from Gaza - the value of fighting for your rights” and “The people of Gaza have taught us, it doesn’t matter what the consequence is.”

– Ebrahim Rasool, ousted ambassador for South Africa to the U.S. explained that as second generation North Americans, young people must leverage their skills and education to infiltrate the Western institutions. He added: “If you are not in the resistance and the revolt in Gaza, you have the responsibility to support it.“

– Ismahan Abdullahi, the national director of the civic engagement and policy wing for the Muslim American Society, an arm of MB in America, said that “Gaza has completely altered the global consciousness of the community.” She clarified that Indigenous and oppressed communities saw themselves in “the genocide against our Palestinian brothers and sisters.” She also acknowledged the Islamophobes, who woke up to the idea that their Islamophobia had been engineered by the Zionist agenda.

Last but not least, in an interactive lab, young Muslims were asked what kind of community/Ummah/world they want help build, and one of the characteristics, to no one’s objection, was “Jew free.”

9. Not all Islamophobes began to question their Islamophobia. Some looked at the list of designated terrorist entities in Canada and calculated that 52 out of the total 90 are various flavors of Islamist – Sunni, Shia, and Palestinian.

One representative of these entities, Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi, a 32-year-old Iraqi national, has been arrested and charged in the US for allegedly directing or supporting at least 18 terror attacks in Europe and North America on behalf of Kata’ib Hizballah and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), both designated terrorist organizations by the U.S. and Canada. The attacks targeted Jewish, Israeli, and U.S. sites, including stabbing attacks on Jewish men in London, firebombing in Amsterdam, attempted bombing in Paris, and an attack on a synagogue and the shooting at the U.S. consulate in Toronto.

10. The line between politics and terrorism is sometimes blurred. Similarly to having a political and a terrorist arm of Hamas, we seem to have a political arm and a pro-terrorism arm of the Liberal party. Salma Zahid, Liberal MP for Scarborough Centre is proudly posing for a photograph with an IRGC supporter Firas Al Najim, who is wearing a t-shirt depicting Mojtaba Khamenei, his father Ali Khamenei—the current and former leaders of the Islamic Regime—and Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Revolution.

In January 2026, MP Salma Zahid petitioned to ease immigration for Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami members into Canada. Jamaat-e-Islami was banned in Bangladesh in 2024, but the ban was repealed after they took part in overthrowing Sheikh Hasina’s government which in turn led to the massacres of Bangladeshi Hindus. I don’t know which part of this makes MP Zahid want to welcome them into Canada. Maybe they’ll become the 53rd Islamic terrorist organization.

In addition to the current 52 Islamic terrorist entities in Canada, another 6 are Palestinian nationalists. Khaled Barakat, a senior leader of two of them, PFLP and Samidoun, is also a founder of Masar Badil, and is organizing a large conference in Toronto for the third anniversary of “Al Aqsa flood” – the October 7 massacre. This is a timely reminder that designating an organization as a terrorist entity is insufficient. Canada needs to also prosecute and/or deport the individuals involved.

Another Canadian politician made an appearance on Al-Jazeera, the Qatari-funded arm of Hamas propaganda. Documents recovered by IDF show that several Al-Jazeera journalists in Gaza were Hamas operatives, and some participated in the October 7 attack. The Al-Jazeera reporter, while questioning the Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand, makes a casual comparison between Israel and Russia – this is a Kremlin propaganda trick that predates October 7. In reality, this was Russia, who invaded Ukraine, and tortured and murdered civilians. If we must draw a comparison, Russia is like Hamas.

11. While Canadian politicians do interviews and take photos with terrorist supporters, the Canadian government allegedly funds NGOs that are infiltrated by Hamas, according to internal Hamas documents seized by the IDF. This sheds light on why so many NGOs report alleged humanitarian crises and alleged war crimes from Gaza, doesn’t it? Unfortunately, I don’t expect the Canadian government to cut funding. After all, Canada continues funding UNRWA despite overwhelming evidence of it being basically an arm of Hamas.

For better or for worse, the Canadian pro-terror funding pales in comparison with the rest of terrorism funding. The US-based investigation uncovered 425 organizations with a combined $1 billion in annual revenues that coordinated 736 anti-Israel ‘Nakba 78’ protests across 39 countries, including Canada. Having attended one such protest in Vancouver, I can confirm that the local narrative is fully consistent with the international one – they aren’t seeking a peaceful two-state solution; and they don’t only seek the destruction of Israel, but also of the dismantling of the US, Canada, and all Western democracies.

One of the organizers in Canada is Palestinian Youth Movement. PYM, alongside many other radical anti-Israel organizations, is sponsored by the Soros Open Society Foundations. Same Open Society has now pledged $30 million to combat antisemitism. These millions were pledged to progressive Jewish groups and in addition to antisemitism they’ll be spent on combatting anti-Muslim discrimination. This is how it usually works: progressive Jews explain that antisemitism is caused by the extreme right-wing Netanyahu government and Zionism. A Muslim, preferably also progressive, activist explains that anti-Muslim discrimination stems from radical Zionist agenda. Then, the progressive Jew and the progressive Muslim wipe their tears of joy away with a keffiyeh, and go to a Nakba rally to chant “from the river to the sea”.

12. “All 11 teachers accused of creating a toxic climate at Montreal school have had their licences revoked,” the CBC article tells us. It further explains that all teachers who were suspended in 2024 were investigated and found guilty of physical and psychological mistreatment of students, failure to teach the Quebec curriculum, and religious instruction. The article only forgets to mention one thing - what religion.

Let me give you a hint. Our ex-tsar of Islamophobia Amira Elghawaby delivered a keynote presentation to educators at Harmony Movement’s 2026 Educators Anti-Racism Conference. She explained that oppression of Muslim women is a stereotype; that Muslims harbouring a hidden political ideology is a myth and that “Canadians are less likely to hold favourable views of Islam than five other major religions.” One might consult the MAC convention and the list of designated terrorist entities above for the origins of these myths and biases.

Elghawaby has an entire section dedicated to Palestine. According to her, speaking about Palestinian rights is being equated to antisemitism and terrorism, and voices “critiquing the Israeli state’s violations of Palestinian human rights” are being silenced. If by “Palestinian human rights” she means the right to slaughter Israelis and to annihilate the Jewish state, then she might have a point.

13. This digest is too long already, so I will not describe newly uncovered vile individuals, who post and say horrible things and support terrorism, but I will mention the Toronto Pride edition of Drag for Palestine featuring Scarlett Bobo and ironically called “Buddies in Bad Times.”

Bad times indeed.

The last three episodes revolve around the concept of freedom. Starting with Benjamin Franklin’s famous warning that “those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety,” we explored how the erosion of free speech leads, step by step, to the loss of livelihood, physical freedom, and even life itself.

The progression across the three episodes is not pre-planned — and yet entirely fitting. We begin with how “safety” has become a pretext for silencing inconvenient truths — on campuses, in classrooms, and in public discourse.

We then follow the story of Paul Finlayson, a Canadian professor fired, defamed, and shunned for saying something plainly true.

And we close with Salman Sima, who has already lived through what happens when that progression runs its full course, and who recognizes the alarming patterns in Canada today that he first saw in Iran under the Islamic regime.

People often don’t recognize the need to defend freedom until it’s already shrinking. Freedom never disappears all at once; it goes bit by bit, one small compromise at a time, each one making the next easier to accept. The later we wake up, the more of it is already gone, the higher the price of standing up. But if these three conversations leave you with one thing, let it be this: no matter how high the price of freedom is, freedom is always worth fighting for.

- “Zionism cannot coexist with humanity”
- “Two-state solution is a betrayal of the Palestinian people”
- And also: “Thanks for October 7 for forcing the Canadian government to recognize Palestine.” Hey, Mark Carney, Hamas thanks you again. How does it feel?

Their chants are sometimes ridiculous, like “we don’t want no two state, take us back to 48!” or “liberation is near,” but always unambiguous — “only one solution, Intifada revolution,” “no peace on stolen land,” “we will not negotiate,” “Zionism will fall,”

Even more articulate are their Arabic chants. “Zionists get out!” And of course, the English phrase “Palestine will be free” is better expressed by its Arabic equivalent: “From water to water, Palestine will be Arab.” The word “free” is the misleading version, softened for Western ears. What they really mean is free of non-Arabs.

They are outraged that I am allowed to be out on the public street. “She is an Israeli spy!” “She is here to provoke,” they complain while I stand nearby silently with my camera. My presence is provoking them. My very existence is provoking. “Why are you protecting her?” they yell at the police, leaving no room for doubt as to what their intentions are.

Not that I had any doubts. Last night resulted in an assault and a police report. I am alright; this is unlikely to be a chargeable offence, especially in the current political climate, when rapists and murderers walk nearly free – even more so if they are on the correct side of the political spectrum.

– I just want you to be safe, – says a friendly Vancouver police officer, – do you really need to film the same people in the same circumstances again?

I am grateful for his concern. Over these past years, he’s watched my back on many different occasions and I am genuinely grateful. But I am also stubborn:

– Someone needs to document these terrorist gatherings and I don’t see any CBC or GlobalNews reporters here. So I will be doing my job and documenting. And you will be doing yours.

2. Statistics show us that levels of antisemitism in Muslim societies are around 90% and growing, and I have no reason to believe that Muslim immigrants leave these sentiments or their support for Shariah law at the border. There are about 2 million Muslims in Canada. Let’s be gracious and assume that only half of them support Hamas. You do the math. Why half? Arbitrarily. Will third or even quarter make us feel better? No.

The Islamic invasion of the West is dangerous to any individual who values Western democratic freedoms. But it is especially dangerous to Jews. For example, National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) is a group that openly refused to denounce Hamas in the Canadian Parliament and advocated to allow flying Hamas and other terrorist groups’ flags. NCCM was formerly known as CAIR-Canada and was renamed after CAIR in the US was named as the unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial with documented ties to Hamas. This month, NCCM was welcomed by the BC NDP coalition and BC Conservative opposition, and introduced in the BC Legislature.

3. Palestinian flag came to symbolize hatred, violence, and terrorism. The name “Palestine” has become a synonym to destruction. Palestine Action group, designated as a terrorist group in the UK, published a map with hundreds of locations allegedly tied to Israeli defense in the US and Canada and instructions for illegal “direct action” a.k.a. vandalism.

Palestine Action, and specifically their Canadian social media account is promoting workshops with a flyer that reads “Arms tired from waving flags? Workout with a Hammer! Direct Action training available.” Remember how at a Samidoun rally in Vancouver, booklets were distributed, instructing how to commit “complex coordinated terrorist attacks”? The Canadian Attorney General is still MIA in regards to the prosecution of Charlotte Kates, the Samidoun Director.

4. Instead, Canada has given $15 million to sponsor elections in Palestine, whatever that means. The Canadian Foreign Policy account wrote: “Canada remains committed to supporting Palestinians as they continue to build a future that respects their dignity, security and aspirations.” The Palestinian self-proclaimed aspiration is to destroy Israel and all their future-building has been focused on that - this is not new. I am just saddened that my taxpayer dollars fund it. To be fair, the Hamas supporters aren’t happy with this either – nothing can satisfy them short of sending Canadian troops to fight against the IDF.

5. UN Watch and the brilliant Hillel Neuer testified before the Canadian Parliament’s Subcommittee on International Human Rights. He talked about the Islamic Republic’s nomination to a key UN body, which Canada voted for, and about UNRWA’s role in radicalization of Palestinians. Hillel Neuer presented evidence that UNRWA employees don’t only cheer for Hamas, they are Hamas. He also pointed out that such evidence was presented to the Canadian liberal government almost a decade ago. Would you bet on Carney’s government to stop funding UNRWA?

6. Antisemitism, or anti-Zionism, if you will, but these are really two sides of the same coin, is being institutionalized more and more. The Canadian BDS coalition celebrated the City of Brampton’s declaring itself an “apartheid free community”. The libelous claim that Israel is an apartheid state is implied in their pledge for “freedom, justice, and equality” - all the pretty words that have been hijacked to mask terrorism.

7. The mask is slipping. Zionists are those who support Israel. “I’d kill every single Zionist“ says a young Canadian man on a streaming platform. But any Jew that doesn’t actively denounce Israel and call for its destruction is considered to be a Zionist. The crime record in GTA supports my claims:

• A man was assaulted and punched outside a synagogue in Vaughan

• A rock was thrown through the window of a Judaica store

• Earlier this year, three synagogues in the Greater Toronto Area were shot at. Recently the police released photos of the suspect.

• Two weeks ago, three visibly Jewish people standing outside a synagogue in North York were shot at from a passing vehicle with a replica firearm; last week, one person was hit in a similar attack; Victims suffered minor injuries. An 18-year-old, Ruslan Novruzov, was later arrested and charged in connection with these incidents.

8. As usual, it’s reassuring to see charges pressed. It is concerning how rare it is, how long it takes, the strain it takes on the system, and how low the conviction rates are. But it is worth mentioning: additional charges were laid against six people out of the pro-Hamas mob that physically broke into a students’ event and injured several attendees. This was in the fall, the event was held privately off campus after Toronto Metropolitan University refused to host it. At least one of the attackers was a repeat offender.

In Victoria, Khalid El Boyok was charged with incitement of hatred. He was caught on camera saying “Hitler was right” and the like. He was first charged in March 2024, he breached his release order twice in August 2025 and January 2026, and now he finally appeared in court in May 2026. The case is ongoing and I have mixed feelings. I heard so many people lately saying “Hitler was right.” Ironically they often combine it with “Holocaust didn’t happen.” Even if I thought that people saying evil things belong in jail, Canada is already broke, we don’t have enough taxpayer dollars to keep them all in jail. I don’t like criticizing the status quo without proposing a solution, but in this case I fall short of coming up with one.

9. Another good word that’s been hijacked is “peace.” Just Peace Advocates, the organization that’s been obsessively advocating against Jewish charities in Canada, has expanded its activities to target Jewish schools as well. According to them, anything IDF-related is unacceptable, making most Israelis persona non grata in Canada.

Speaking of schools, 15 schools in Toronto received bomb threats last week. No, these weren’t specifically Jewish schools, so this isn’t directly antisemitism-related. But this kind of activism is brought to our country by the very same people who champion antisemitism – the “globalize the Intifada” crowd. Correlation doesn’t mean causation... but sometimes it does.

10. With particular rage, the Canadian IRGC supporters attack the anti-regime Canadian Iranians. Last weekend at an anti-regime demonstration in Richmond Hill, Ontario, a pro-regime man began ramming cars with his vehicle. He hit two cars and a man. Then he got out of his car, yelled threats and waved the Islamic Republic flag. Why does this belong in the antisemitism digest? Because the Islamic Republic is one of the main drivers of antisemitism in Canada, and especially because the anti-regime Iranians stand with Israel, like no one else does.

11. In Vancouver, the Jewish and the Iranian community came together to celebrate Israel’s Independence Day, and the Hamas supporters showed up to counterprotest. They couldn’t ruin our celebration, of course, but they vandalized the bridge and also yelled “Free Palestine” and “Death to the IOF” as we were passing by. To them Palestine is synonymous with the death of Israelis – I didn’t say it, they did.

These same people (and I mean literally the same individuals) came to protest against the “Soldiers of Tomorrow” play at a Vancouver art festival. This play is by a Vancouver-based former Israeli soldier, who reflects on his time in the army and the “occupation of Palestine.” The playwright accuses Israel of genocide and ethnic cleansing in 1948, this is an anti-Israel play, but Hamas supporters still couldn’t tolerate that it is a play by a Jew about Israel.

The same Hamas supporters also protest against FIFA in Vancouver. This is not a joke, in a random 20-second long video of “No FIFA on stolen land” protest I counted at least eight people in keffiyeh, and recognized at least four regular attendees of the Samidoun rallies, and one Independent Jewish Voices (IJV) leader. This is not antisemitism per se, but these are antisemites that want to destroy Canada.

12. Speaking of FIFA, Mehdi Taj, Iran’s football federation chief with past ties to the IRGC, has been granted a Temporary Resident Permit to enter Canada despite being generally inadmissible. Had it not been for Canadian-Iranian journalists raising the alarm, he probably wouldn’t have been deported shortly after arrival. After all, what’s one more IRGC terrorist in addition to the hundreds that we already have?

In other Vancouver FIFA news, the head of the Palestinian football team, Jibril Rajoub, who is a convicted Palestinian terrorist, refused to shake the hand of Israel’s Football Association vice-president. The FIFA representative did his best to convince Rajoub, “Let’s work together for the children” he begged, but Rajoub, who was wrapped in a keffiyeh over his suit, shook his head and yelled something angry. What’s most ironic? Israel’s FA VP is Basim Sheikh Suliman, an Arab Muslim.

13. Art and academia closely follow sports’ lead. “Drag for Palestine“ show is performing in Vancouver. In Ontario, McMaster University’s union promotes terrorist propaganda to its thousands of employees. “Workers of the world united to smash imperialism“ says the flyer decorated by a PFLP logo and depicting hands holding a hammer, a sickle, and a firearm bursting out of a tank.

14. Last week I was feeling nostalgic and reposted a photo from two years ago when I was walking on the streets of Vancouver with my “I am a Zionist, ask me a question” sign. A commenter challenged me on why I support Zionism, but not the decolonization of North America by its indigenous people. I suspect this wasn’t a genuine question, but I like finding answers to gotcha questions: the comparison between Zionism and the North America Land back movement is like a comparison between a skilled surgeon performing open-heart surgery and a terrorist stabbing a person in the heart - both technically cut your chest open, but this is where the similarities end.

So … I am a Zionist, and everyone else should be too!

• Socialism is good, and whenever it fails miserably, it’s either not the real socialism or it is the capitalists’ fault.

• All masculinity is toxic, except when it’s a crowd of military-aged male refugees blocking our roads and chanting Allahu Akbar.

• Absolute body positivity must coexist with cutting off children’s healthy body parts.

• No one is allowed to kill in self-defence, but every murderous terrorist is a freedom fighter.

• Every oppressed individual is righteous solely by virtue of being oppressed, except when it’s a lone critical thinker facing a woke mob-cult…

Woke narratives are full of ridiculous contradictions and falsehoods, but pointing out these contradictions and falsehoods is considered hate and bigotry. The good news is that contradictions and falsehoods are afraid of a spotlight, and if we keep naming them, these narratives collapse.

1. Despite the new act prohibiting street prayers in Quebec, Montreal for Palestine still prayed. They prayed standing rather than prostrating themselves, but they still blocked the street and called for jihad. Even the best laws are useless if they are not enforced. In Calgary, they didn’t block the road, but prostrated on the public square and chanted “Allahu Akbar.”

2. Islamophobia comes from the word “Islam.” Another term that comes from “Islam” is “Islamic State.” ISIS-inspired Ottawa minor was planning a mass casualty attack targeting Jews on Christmas 2023. He was receiving bomb-making instructions via Telegram. The accused was arrested in December 2023 thanks to an FBI tip and recently found guilty of four terrorism charges. His co-accused, arrested in February 2024, remains to stand trial.

3. In Toronto, a vigil to commemorate Ayatollah Khamenei was organized outdoors, in front of the Superior Court of Justice. On the flyer, the Ayatollah is depicted surrounded by about a dozen elementary-school-aged girls.

Terrorism-praising events are not only held outdoors or in mosques. In Montreal, Centre St. Pierre, a publicly funded community center, hosted a Palestinian-themed event that glorified convicted terrorists and murderers. The event was organized by Palestinian Youth Movement, an organization with ties to PFLP and Samidoun. The community center was notified; a federal minister was notified, but the event went forward anyway.

4. Terrorism-fans in Victoria, B.C. vandalized an Iranian, pro-monarchy restaurant; they spray-painted “Long live IRGC“ on top of the Sun and Lion.

In Yorkville, Toronto, a man passing by a Jewish Centre knocked down a menorah. Subsequently, in order to restore our faith in humanity, another passerby was caught on camera picking up the menorah and putting it back in place.

5. Also in Toronto, anti-war, pro-IRGC activists protested calling for “Hands off Iran” and for missile strikes on Israel. Basically, they are not anti-war per se, they are against the Islamic Republic losing the war.

In Vancouver, all flavors of socialists regularly protest either for or against the IRGC, but always against Israel. Isn’t it ironic? Israel started as a socialist country for better or for worse. I am just kidding, socialism is never for better, and to this day the remnants of socialism are hurting Israel from within.

Even the Daily Mail is now reporting that Gazan women testify how Hamas sexually abused them and forced them to have sex in return for food. But in Vancouver, in a group flying the Islamic Republic flags, an Asian woman with a keffiyeh is holding a handmade sign reading “Palestine forever” inside a picture of a heart, “Mothers for peace” and encouraging the reader to join her and “be on the right side of history.” Truly, you cannot cure stupid.

6. Anti-Israel hate graffiti, described as “significant” and “extensive”, was spray-painted on the walls and walkway of St. Aloysius Gonzaga Secondary School, Erin Meadows Community Centre and Library on Erin Centre Boulevard in Mississauga at nighttime. On display are phrases like “Israel spit on Christians.” “They hate the world.” and “Israel kills kids.” Because what’s a better artistic expression than a good old blood libel? Peel Regional Police Hate Crime Unit is investigating; no arrests have been made so far.

7. Vancouver made it into the Jerusalem Post and not for a good reason. Jason is an obsessive guy who, since October 7, made it his mission to advocate for Hamas and harass Jews. I personally had an interaction with him at UBC which led to a police report that went nowhere, but he is mostly known for tearing down hostage posters and covering the city with antisemitic graffiti “free Palestine, fuck zionism” with an inverted triangle substituting the letter U, “Stop Israel cult,” and “Zionazi terrorists.”

Whether Jason knows it or not, “Zionazi” is a term coined by the former KKK leader David Duke. In the time he doesn’t spend vandalizing the neighbourhood, Jason stands waving a huge Palestinian flag at one of the busiest intersections in the city. On his GoFundMe page, he claims to spend at least 35 hours a week “advocating for Palestine” and asks people to sponsor these efforts.

8. Not all IRGC and Hamas supporters are as conveniently unemployed as Jason. Many of them pack up their flags, take off their face masks and terrorist-like bands, and go home and to work, where they are our neighbors, cashiers, engineers, nurses, teachers, and parents of our children’s classmates.

For example, Anas Afandi, the Operations Coordinator for the Workers’ Safety & Compensation Commission in Nunavut, states that “we need Hitler back,” supports Hamas and Hezbollah, and calls Jews a “Satanic cult.”

Or Diana Salama, the Director of Stakeholder Relations at Munk School in Toronto, who calls Hamas “my heroes” and mocks Nova survivors.

Or Sherolinnah Eang from Vancouver, who proudly calls herself “the Chinese Hamas,” claims that her husband is an official Tesla Ambassador, and calls to “starve” the US and Israel.

Nima Alizadeh-Gharib sent messages to a Jewish-owned restaurant in Toronto wishing Germany had finished off the Jews and an image of Adolf Hitler. As I previously noted, antisemitism makes people stupid, and the account was easily identified as belonging to a licensed real estate agent in B.C. A complaint has been filed with the BC Financial Services Authority and Alizadeh-Gharib was fined and required to complete an antisemitism education course. I am both glad and skeptical to see this kind of accountability. Quoting Yohay Sponder, one of my favourite Israeli stand-up comedians: “If you take an antisemite to a Holocaust museum, they come out inspired.”

Four men illegally crossed the border from Canada into the US. They claimed they were hiking and got lost, but one of their phones showed recent searches for “is st zacherie border crossing still used the one near quebec golden road” and their GoPro video has footage of them saying “Now we are in the U.S.” All four men are British citizens; their names are Ali Mohammed Ali Abdullah, Hameed Mohammed Nagi, Ibrahim Ayyub Khan, and Mohammed Sultan Saleh. I assume they were pursuing the American dream.

9. Instead of focusing on securing our borders, the Canadian government is busy tweeting. Foreign Minister Anita Anand repeatedly called for Israel to ceasefire in Lebanon and condemned the “tragic death“ of a French UNIFIL peacekeeper without naming Hezbollah, which ambushed and killed him. Canadian PM Mark Carney called for “all parties to de-escalate and respect Lebanese sovereignty“ basically equating Israel and Hezbollah, a group designated as a terrorist entity in Canada.

Mark Carney found it in him to condemn “Iranian unprovoked attacks” – yes, he avoids the words Islamic Republic – on civilians in the UAE and in the Strait of Hormuz. Neither Carney nor Anita Anand condemned the slaughter of 40,000 protesters in Iran or the execution of the detained protesters, except for one who happened to also be a Swedish citizen. Nonetheless, Canada backed Islamic Republic’s membership on a UN committee dealing with human rights.

Even more embarrassingly, Canadian Foreign Policy X account posted a claim Canada is not a member of the group that endorsed or voted for the nomination, but community notes quickly corrected the record – the nomination was voted on by the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and Canada voted for it.

And this is exactly why the Canadian government won’t hesitate to block X as soon as they get the opportunity.

10. This week, at the BC Legislature, former OneBC MLA Tara Armstrong expressed her opposition to the new Komoks treaty by calling UNDRIP a “blood and soil theory.” A point of order was raised and the Speaker ruled for the comment to be withdrawn. The discussion on the internet took many different turns. Of course, Premier David Eby called everyone racist and Nazi so many times that no one can take him seriously anymore. But in this particular case, I agree with him – the use of Nazi rhetoric is inappropriate. UNDRIP is race-based and as such, it is bad. But not everything race-based is blood and soil. Moreover, it’s a stupid argument to make, because it distracts from the actual point – no one talks about UNDRIP anymore, everyone argues about the appropriateness of using Nazi rhetoric.

11. CJPME, Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East, proudly reports that support of Israel dropped from 33% to 22%, compared to an unfavourable view of 61%. I don’t trust CJPME polls any more than I trust them to tell the truth about Israel, but the fact that they chose to report these numbers exactly on Holocaust Remembrance Day is astonishing.

At the same time, I’m surprised that I am still surprised by any of it. On the other hand, we shouldn’t get used to it. This isn’t normal and we must not accept it as such. And so I want to finish on a positive note.

12. One thing I could get used to is seeing Iranians standing with Jews, and it is so joyful to watch that I cannot help but include a video. And this Sunday, also together with our Iranian friends, we will be marching in Vancouver and celebrating Israel’s Independence Day. If you are in Vancouver, please join!

As Natasha, Jim, and I were discussing our interactions with the police during mass protests, protests where we are the small peaceful minority facing a hateful violent crowd and are not sufficiently protected by the police, two important points came up.

We and the police have very different objectives. We go out to document or engage because it is through this work that we aim to affect and improve society. We are willing to put ourselves at a certain risk to achieve this goal. The police’s objectives are tactical – their job is to make sure that every single person goes home alive and uninjured. Our voluntary risk-taking gets in the way of them achieving this goal, and is also the easiest factor to mitigate.

Why are we willing to tolerate the risk? Or even more accurately, why do we insist on this seemingly reckless risk-taking? The answer is in the graph below.

The supposed safety of doing nothing puts us all at much greater risk going forward. I don’t know the scale of the time-axis and where the point of intersection is. My intuition tells me we are running out of time, and this is a risk I am not willing to take. Pun intended.
