That’s all amazing. But the best thing about it is that it’s been possible to get a fairly sizeable movement going off the back of that article’s popularity made up of people who are sick of the unbelievable amounts of fraud, dogma, intolerance, and grifting within academia and on campuses across the world.

In other words, it might be possible to do something about it.

Crucially a pretty large number of academics and students seem to be on board. Many of them have been getting in touch to provide evidence, examples and first-hand experiences of the way that progressive dross is being funded, spread, and imposed on people. Whether that’s through pseudo-scientific research, the existence of an illiberal and conformist environment on campus, the promotion of Islamists to top roles in key faculties, or anything else.

It’s important to keep this stuff in people’s minds despite the fact that the ideologues who make a living within these universities are smearing anyone who criticises them as ‘racists’ who want to ‘lynch them’ in the wake of Jason Arday’s sad death (I’m not making that up, check out what the principal of my old Cambridge college had to say recently if you don’t believe me). Don’t let them get away with it. Public attention needs to be focussed, right now, on what the Arday scandal began to expose.

My degree was in ‘Politics, Psychology and Sociology’. I specialised in Sociology. One of my papers, on the Sociology of Education, was taught jointly with the Faculty of Education, where Jason Arday became a professor of sociology after I left. All these faculties sit within the school of Humanities and Social Sciences.

I want to give a few examples of the scale of progressive ideological capture at the university even then, pre-Peak Woke, in 2012 (when I graduated). As well as to try to illustrate the sheer intellectual bankruptcy of so much of what gets passed off as chin-rubbingly profound academic scholarship at some of the most elite educational institutions in the world.

Where to begin?

For one module, I wrote a lengthy essay about how cultural products like kids’ cartoons and jazz songs serve as instruments of capitalist oppression. I got a top mark on that paper (despite knowing at the time that I was essentially regurgitating complete crap).

While studying for another paper I had a debate with the professor, an eminent anthropologist, because she insisted we should believe and not question native tribes' claims that they could do things like perform magic or fly through the air. After all, who are we to question ‘indigenous ways of knowing’...

For a different course, I read long ‘research papers’ which argued that the fact that black kids are excluded from schools more than white kids proves systemic racism exists in education. Crucially, they ignored the fact that white kids are excluded more than, e.g., Japanese kids, a statistic which, applying the exact same logic, would suggest that the education system is systemically biased in favour of, erm, Japanese kids (which obviously it isn’t).

Something that was held up as proof of the existence of this largely imaginary racism was that teachers tell kids not to use booming voices in the classroom, and not to put up their hoods or wear their trousers down below their pants.

On another occasion, my supervisor casually praised some students agitators who were trying to shut down a talk by someone they disagreed with. I said that I didn’t think this was something to celebrate, because I believed in freedom of speech. He got visibly angry, and proceeded to tell me that free speech was not worth protecting in a capitalist system (or something along those lines).

In my all-important final year, a lecturer let me know that I shouldn’t worry too much about my exam results, because as someone who was not from an upper class background I should be more focussed on using my grasp of leftist revolutionary theory to further the interests of the proletariat. Writing this down, it strikes me that it’s so hilariously mental that some of you will presumably assume I’m lying. But there’s no way I’m leaving it out, because it happened.

I could give many more examples.

I should make clear at this stage that while this article is about my experience at Cambridge specifically, the same culture and beliefs are being pushed throughout academia (and beyond). It’s also worth pointing out that we weren’t just studying complete shite, we were learning to dress that shite up in the most pretentious language imaginable - a prerequisite for a career as an academic in these fields. I still have some of my old essays (if you search hard enough, you can find them on the internet1), so I’ll give you a quote from one of them to show you what I mean. I got a high first for this one:

‘Bourdieu saw that to understand a work of art, we must look not only at the piece of art itself, but rather at the conditions of its production and reception, the specific logic characterising the field of cultural production, and the way in which that field relates to the wider fields of power and class relations. Doing so, he argued, reveals that the field of cultural production is cut through by two opposing principles of heirachization; the autonomous and heteronomous principles, and that as the degree of independence from the financial imperatives of the economic sphere grows, the autonomous principle, an exact inversion of the principles of heirachization governing the economicsphere, comes to predominate. Bourdieu’s work on culture provides a strong argument for the need for a theory of art that roots it in the specific conditions within the field of cultural production at a particular time.’

Sounds clever, but it’s a complete load of meaningless bollocks. I know that, because I wrote it! In my own defence though, my summary above made the underlying philosophy I was describing seem more coherent than it actually is.

Unlike the academics who make a living from this stuff, I couldn’t bring myself to build a career pumping out whiney, divisive, intellectually incoherent rubbish. But others, as we’ve seen exposed in recent days, do so with gusto. And are lauded for it.

It’s a total scandal.

I wrote about the Jason Arday saga yesterday, but there’s much more to say.

First off, we need to talk about the hypocrisy of it.

The left spent over a decade trying to destroy people’s lives, get them censored and fired for disagreeing with their cultish dogma, hound them out of the public square, and all the rest. They succeeded, often. They simultaneously mocked and vilified anyone who pointed out this Maoist scumbaggery, said cancel culture was a myth, and so on.

The media massively supported them in all of this, lavishing attention and praise on wacky progressive ideas and ideologues, while smearing those who pushed back as racist, far right, white supremacist, etc.

Now the exact same people are turning around and calling legitimate media scrutiny of one the left’s most high profile and public representatives a ‘lynching’ and an ‘assassination’, etc (those are direct quotes - see my article from yesterday or this thread if you don’t believe me).

It’s just 100% transparent, morally and intellectually inconsistent bollocks. Whipped up to help them further their agenda and deflect attention away from the actual issue here, namely their own bastardisation of our university system, and the fraudulence of their belief system more broadly.

Arday’s death is very sad. It does not undermine any of the above, however.

One thing I have found funny about the whole affair is how unbelievably humiliating it’s been for the race-baiting communists over at Novara Media, and their ilk. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, watch this video (or at least, as much of it as you can stomach).

As I’ve written and spoken about at length in the past, they tried so hard to cosplay as 'non-woke' once it went out of fashion, to pretend they were never woke to begin with, and to gaslight us into believing the real woke people were right wing ‘zionists’ all along.

They put on fake working class accents, pretended to like football, occasionally flew England flags during the world cup, and said stuff like 'it's ridiculous that we don't police antisocial behaviour', as if we'd forget it was them who claimed it was 'racist' to police antisocial behaviour for years.

But then, 2020-style identitarianism came roaring back, momentarily, after Arday's death. And they absolutely capitulated, filming themselves making hostage-style, tearful apologies - the picture at the top of this post is a screengrab from one of them, featuring the unbearable Aaron Bastani - in which they physically shake with remorse. Why? Because one or two of them dared to point out that Arday spoke a lot of crap. Which he did.

Hilarious. So degrading. They dropped their whole act the moment they received even the mildest pushback from their own side.

What I’ve not been able to cover in this post is the appalling amount of fawning publicity the BBC, our supposedly unbiased state broadcaster, gave Arday. This is so shocking and so egregious that it warrants an entire essay of its own. I don’t have time to write that now but plan to do so in the coming days if I can, please hit subscribe to receive it. As a starting point though, you should read this article in the Spectator on that topic by Steven Edgington. Annoyingly it’s behind a paywall but here’s a lengthy quote from it, which gives you an idea of just how complicit the BBC is in pushing the racial grievance narrative:

‘The BBC’s coverage of the Jason Arday scandal is something of a scandal itself. The corporation spent years uncritically promoting the myth of Arday. Prior to July 2026, the broadcaster produced at least 11 radio programmes (totalling nearly six hours of Arday content), four news articles, and two TV interviews championing the academic and repeating his false claims.

When the initial story broke about his plagiarism and lies, the BBC doubled down on its defence of the academic. The first article which I would say features real criticism of the former professor was published on 6 August, a day after he resigned, more than two weeks after the original Arday exposé was published on Substack, and six years after the BBC’s first hagiographic piece about the late academic.

In that time journalists across the world published revelations detailing Arday’s long history of lies and exaggerations, from publications as diverse as the Telegraph and the Daily Mail to the Guardian and the New York Times. For weeks, the BBC ignored them all.

Following Arday’s death, the corporation has returned to its less-than-impartial reporting of the matter. Throughout the saga, the BBC has spent more resources smearing Arday’s exposer, the former Cambridge academic , and participated in a genuine witch hunt against him. Even in articles detailing accusations of plagiarism against Arday, it is clear that the real enemy of the story was the infamous ‘race realist’ Cofnas.’

Bear in mind, ‘the license fee payer’ is funding this stuff. Unforgivable.

Imagine being a student at that college and (rightly) questioning this type of cultish racial grievance narrative. Do you think you’d feel able to do so? I would say almost certainly not.

This is far from an issue confined to Homerton of course, or even to Cambridge. Ideologues like Woolley, with a clear and moronic political agenda, are warping the education system, and by extension public life more broadly (please read my mega-essay on how and why here).

And they’re not being held accountable for it.

I wrote this a few days ago, before Arday’s sad passing. Uncomfortable as it may be to discuss at this time, it remains true.

Also, what happened to the otherwise endless liberal panic about ‘misinformation’?

Telling a large angry crowd that Arday was ‘lynched’ and ‘assassinated’, as Woolley did, is about as perfect an example of said misinformation as it’s possible to imagine.

Has BBC Verify ‘fact checked’ this blatant, deeply divisive, falsehood? Let’s see. Nope!

Has it fact checked self-proclaimed and prominent ‘anti-racist’ figures for making the same claim? Nope!

Oh but the BBC has quoted those figures as authorities in their coverage of Arday, without mentioning that they are in fact woke activists, some of whom proudly make statements that verge on open bigotry towards white people (see the screenshot lower down in this article, for instance).

And will there be calls ‘not to weaponise’ the tragic death of Arday, to insist no political conclusions be drawn, an insistence we wait for the ‘full facts to be known’ before passing comment, and so on, like there always are whenever deaths occur that undermine a progressive narrative?

Doesn’t seem like it…

How odd!

The BBC, you won’t be surprised to hear, routinely quotes Andrews.

Oh and while we’re on the topic of Cambridge/the absolute dross that passes as ‘profound’ sociological thinking, let’s look at who else is conducting ‘research’ there…

He’s recently been arguing that the Palestinians simply ‘want peace’, and that anyone who disputes this is spreading ‘pure Israeli propaganda’.

I’d have preferred not to have had to write about him again. After all so what if one sweaty, mildly demented bloke is ranting and screaming about stuff on the internet?

But this isn’t just about Uygur - the point is that he’s the embodiment of the wider pro-Palestinian, anti-Western movement he emerged from. So it’s worth taking the time to subject his claims to scrutiny now and then, especially when those claims are pretty widely accepted by literally billions of people around the world despite being demonstrably false.

Here’s a screenshot of the relevant section of his post, followed by my reply to him, which has been shared around a fair bit on social media (that original reply is here). I’ve transcribed it below.

An edited and extended version of my reply:

The Palestinians broke a ceasefire to invade Israel and murder absolutely everyone they could find, apart from the odd person (including babies and pensioners) they seized as captives to torture and later slaughter in tunnels. Oh and the women they raped, many of whom they then executed.

They filmed this on GoPros, recorded themselves celebrating, recorded themselves shrieking ‘Allahu akbar!’, recorded themselves gathering in vast crowds to desecrate dead Jewish girls’ bodies in the streets and spit on corpses, and made phone calls to their parents to boast about stuff like having killed ‘ten Jews’ with their ‘own hands’ (quote).

Then they vowed to do it again and again.

All of which gets reframed as ‘wanting peace’ by Islamic activists and Pro-Pal propagandists.

In other words you’re witnessing the real-time rewriting of basic historical facts, and people falling for it.

This is nothing new, of course. Such shameless historical dishonesty has been a central tenet of Palestinianism for generations.

To choose one other ridiculous example out of the many available, look at how events around the formation of the state of Israel are discussed.

By way of a very high-level summary: Jewish leaders accepted the UN Partition Plan in 1947. Palestinian Arab leaders rejected it, resulting in a brutal civil war. Five Arab states then invaded Israel as soon as it declared independence, in an attempt to destroy it.

They failed, and were humiliatingly defeated, following which nearly a million Jews - often with no connection to Israel - were forced out of, or fled from, numerous Arab and Muslim-majority countries.

To reiterate, Jewish leaders accepted partition and peace; Palestinian Arab leaders, and Arab governments and populations, rejected it, and shortly thereafter waged war, lost that war, then kicked Jews out of their countries and/or killed them in massive deadly pogroms.

Yet this is entirely inverted in the Palestinian/Islamic/leftist retelling, which has now become reasonably mainstream.

That account depicts Israel as the aggressor (as it always does). In order to lend credence to this claim, hyper-focus is placed on ‘the Nakba’ — meaning the Palestinian displacement and dispossession that occurred during 1947-49 — to the near-exclusion of everything else (for a more detailed look at the Nakba, check out my Instagram post on it here).

The aim is to construct a narrative, so misleading as to be essentially false, in which ‘the Zionists’ alone are guilty of ethnic cleansing for having expelled Palestinian Arabs, and Israel is and always has been the sole belligerent. To achieve this, the intransigence of the Palestinian Arab leadership, the at times openly genocidal intolerance on display in surrounding Arab/Muslim states, and the ethnic cleansing of massive numbers of Jews, are ignored. And the Jewish/Israeli response to that warmongering and bigotry is decontextualised and reframed as wanton, uniquely barbaric cruelty and greed.

In other words, it’s complete, ahistorical rubbish. But it serves an ideological purpose. Deliberately distorting the past is central to the dissemination of propaganda. With Cenk and his ilk you can not only observe that process taking place in real time, but also watch Western progressives, liberals and the conspiro-right lap it up.

This is only a short article. I do not claim it provides a comprehensive summary of the history of the region. Nor is the point that no Palestinians want peace, that all Israelis are angels, or that Israel has done no wrong. Rather, it’s that anyone who thinks they’re getting a serious, honest account of this conflict from the leading pro-Palestinian agitators is kidding themselves.

Police and ambulance crew following the stabbing of Sir David Amess

Ten years ago, the British MP Jo Cox was murdered. In his post on social media platform X marking the anniversary of that horrifying crime, Keir Starmer writes, in his very first line, that her killer was ‘a far-right terrorist’. Quite reasonably. It is obviously legitimate, indeed important, to identify the worldview motivating acts of political violence.

The problem is that those, like Starmer, who are quickest to invoke ideology in some cases consistently refuse to do so in others. Specifically, when the ideology in question is Islamist in nature.

After another MP, Sir David Amess, was murdered by an Islamist fanatic in 2021, Starmer did not describe the killer in the same ideological terms, instead speaking about the ‘poison of extremism’ more broadly.

In a post on the anniversary of Amess’s death he made no reference whatsoever to the worldview motivating the murder. Instead, he stated, in far vaguer terms, that ‘violence and threats to our democracy will never prevail’. Note the difference in the language used: ‘far-right terrorist’ versus generalised, abstract ‘violence’. These are, obviously, deliberate choices.

Here’s what she had to say yesterday:

I vaguely agree with certain parts of her claim. But the hypocrisy here is so intense it’s hard to know where to begin.

She and her fellow ideological travellers led the charge to re-racialise both crime, and socio-political life more broadly, under the guise of progressivism. Try as they might to paper over that fact now, they played a central role in letting the identitarian genie out of the bottle.

This post sets out some examples of that hypocrisy. There are countless others I could have chosen.

1. George Floyd and the ‘system that terrorises black people’

Here’s Ash, who’s currently arguing crime must not be viewed through a ‘racialised lens’, using a single death in the US to frame ‘the system’ as one that ‘terrorises black people and people of colour’ — a claim that is both explicitly racialised and, though repeated endlessly within polite society and treated as virtually unquestionable, not supported by the available evidence. In fact, I wrote an entire essay debunking it. Please, I’m begging you, read it (here’s a link). I also recorded a half-hour podcast episode on it, which you can watch here.

2. The ‘need’ for spaces with no white people in them

Here Ash describes how she ‘needs’ places without any white people in them. As she claims to be someone who is outraged by the use of a ‘racialised lens’, that strikes me as a bit, erm, weird?

Thought experiment: what would Ash say if a white person said they ‘needed’ spaces with no black people in them?

3. The presence of white people = racism

Here she is claiming the mere presence of white people in a room ‘automatically means the presence of racism’. White people’s very existence, in other words, is racist.

If that isn’t viewing things through a racialised lens, I struggle to see what is.

4. Newtonian physics and the structure of ‘whiteness’

In this clip, Ash holds forth on how Newtonian physics and the refraction of light relate to the structure of ‘whiteness.’ Now she’s furious that things are being ‘racialised’.

5. Calling white people ‘gammon’

A couple of instances (there are others) of Ash calling white people she disagrees with ‘gammon’ (for you see, white men are supposedly red and sweaty and look like pieces of meat. And so ends today’s ‘anti-racism’ lesson).

Another thought experiment: what would Ash say if you disparagingly compared members of an ethnic minority group to a bit of a dead pig that is the same colour as their skin?

My two cents: If you’ve written pretentious screeds in defence of race riots, you cannot legitimately now claim to be outraged and terrified by…riots.

Ash is just one of countless figures who spent years injecting race into every corner of public life, browbeating anyone who pushed back, and treating the ethnic grievance narrative as sacred. This was not a fringe leftist pursuit, I might add. On the contrary, vast swathes of our media, as well as key academic, cultural, political and even corporate institutions, were (and still are, to varying extents) captured by this worldview, and people literally lost their jobs and were censored for challenging it.

For those same individuals and organisations to now express horror at the ‘use of a racialised lens’ is beyond parody.

Hello! This is a roundup of my recent Substack ‘notes’, and other social media posts, related to recent events in Belfast.

If you're unaware of what's happened, in short: a Sudanese national - Hadi Alodid - has been charged after footage appeared to show him straddling a man and repeatedly slashing him in the head and neck with a kitchen knife in what has been described as an 'attempted beheading'. The victim, who is in a coma, survived, but reportedly lost his left eye, suffered damage to his right eye, and sustained injuries to his neck and back.

The attack led to protests in the city, which in some instances turned into violent, racist riots.

Below is a rough breakdown of what we discussed, and when it comes up:

• Ideological obfuscation regarding violence: When Islamic terrorists attack Jews and other ‘infidels’, Western elites consistently deflect, refer to vague, generalised ‘hate’, tell us not to ‘look back in anger’, and/or focus on unrelated causes (‘inequality’, ‘austerity’ etc) as explanations. This helps them avoid discussing the specific ideological motivations behind the violence (0:00 - 12:20).

• Statistical support for extremist groups: I discusses research indicating that a notable segment of the British Muslim population expresses sympathy for groups like ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and Hamas, as well as support for the criminalisation of blasphemy (12:35 - 16:15).

• The impact of wokeness and self-loathing: I argue that Western institutions are undermined by a form of liberal group-think that characterises the West as inherently oppressive, which in turn emboldens sectarian groups to reject integration and push back against Western values (19:40 - 22:45).

• The debate on banning protests: Ollie (the host) argues that certain ‘hate marches’ constitute direct incitement to violence and should be restricted to protect social order (22:45 - 26:55). While I disagree with the marches, I am less inclined to ban them than he is.

• The role of religious texts: We discuss whether Islamist violence is an aberration or deeply rooted in the theological texts of the religion, with Ollie suggesting that a serious look at the doctrine itself is necessary to understand the root cause of the current tensions (28:20 - 31:25).

The reason it hits home is that you can tell she's genuinely sick of this hectoring brand of Islamo-leftism. Her face and tone capture the real disgust that so many feel towards that worldview. She's confronting a malevolent, racist movement that comes packaged as holier-than-thou 'anti-fascism'. Grim.

The woman shouting at her in the video perfectly embodies what’s so sinister about woke/Islamist dogma more broadly. Her tirade comes off the back of the stabbing of two Jewish men in Golders Green, one in a string of what have become near-daily antisemitic crimes overwhelmingly committed by radicalised Muslims. These include multiple arson attacks on synagogues, ambulances being firebombed, memorial walls to victims of October 7 and the Iranian regime being set on fire, Iranian-linked plots against Jewish community centres being foiled, and an attack on a synagogue in Manchester a few months ago that left two Jews dead, to name but a few.

And she’s outraged.

But not at Islamist intolerance and Jew-hate of course. Rather, at ‘Islamophobia’. She hounds Badenoch for doing the obviously decent thing — standing against antisemitic violence and abuse — and reframes it as ‘pandering to the far right’. By, erm, opposing Jews being stabbed?

It’s an entirely morally inverted ideology, built on intimidation, gaslighting, and the bastardisation of language for deeply unpleasant political ends. And we can now see, in the starkest of terms, where it leads.

It’s refreshing to watch a politician speak from the heart, in a way that isn’t contrived or obviously stage-managed. And I found it quite clarifying. With all the hysteria and deflection, it becomes easy to lose track of the underlying reality here: namely, that we’re dealing with a bunch of authoritarian progressives and sectarian Muslim agitators, including many who regularly profess support for literal mass-murdering jihadist dictatorships. And they pose a grave threat to Western public life. That remains true, no matter how much they scream ‘racist’ at anyone who mentions it.

Good on Kemi. We need more politicians who are genuine, principled, and aren’t prepared to put up with the histrionics of our activist class.

To give you an idea of how commonplace egregious acts of Islamist bigotry and antisemitic violence have now become in Britain, consider the following. On Tuesday of last week, I heard that there had been an arson attack on a memorial wall for victims of the Iranian regime down the road from the house I grew up in, in Golders Green (an area of London with a large Jewish community). I planned to write an article about it, but never managed to, because before I’d even had time to get started, that story had already been overshadowed by a worse one. Namely, that a man named Essa Suleiman — who was born in Somalia, came to the UK as a child, had a history of violence and was previously referred to the government’s counter-extremism programme Prevent — had waddled around that same area stabbing random Jews.

Fortunately, he was apprehended by heroic police officers and bystanders before he managed to kill anyone. Which, you will be in no way surprised to hear, led the British Islamo-left to erupt in outrage. Not at the fact that yet another sociopathic Jew-hating terrorist had tried to murder their fellow citizens of course, but rather at the police for daring to disarm him. I’ve written about just what an unimaginably ridiculous bunch of frauds these people are in great depth on this newsletter over the years, so I won’t repeat myself here. But clearly, this stuff illustrates that point nicely.

Zack Polanski, leader of the Green Party, reposting criticism of the police for non-lethally subduing a terrorist. The police had no guns, and the terrorist was still holding a knife.

Suleiman’s little Jew hunt has been receiving a lot of attention, but it’s only one in a string of antisemitic crimes that are now occurring constantly. In the past few days and weeks, just in London, there have been multiple attacks on Jewish targets. These include Hatzola ambulances being set alight a few hundred metres from the site of the double stabbing, a firebomb attack on a synagogue in Finchley, an arson attack on a synagogue in Kenton, an arson attack on a Jewish charity in Hendon, an arson attack on a Jewish-owned shop, and an attempted arson attack on a Jewish community site that was foiled. There have also been threatened and unsuccessful attacks on the Israeli embassy, Iranian-linked groups have been uncovered surveilling Jewish and Israeli-linked sites, and individuals alleged to have been preparing further attacks have been arrested. Remember, I’m only describing recent events, and only ones in or relating to London. Unsurprisingly, a not insignificant number of British Jews are now quite seriously contemplating leaving the country.

Elsewhere in Britain, Jews were killed in an attack on Heaton Park Synagogue in Manchester by a man literally called Jihad, and a massive jihadist plot targeting Jews which, had it been successfully carried out, might well have been the deadliest terror attack in British history, was thankfully foiled.

The UK is not alone in this, either. Last December in Australia, Muslim men took rifles to a Hanukkah event and killed 15 people. In France, numerous Islamist attacks have contributed to the largest exodus of Jews from the country in many years. In the Netherlands, massive Arab mobs recently rampaged around throwing Israeli football fans in rivers and looking for ‘cancerjews’ (quote) to beat up…and so on.

A pretty dire state of affairs, albeit one that mirrors the Jewish experience in the vast majority of Muslim countries.

So what has been the response to all this? The same as it always is.

We’ve been subjected to all the usual platitudes from our political and media elites. When asked to specify where this hatred towards Jews is coming from, they’ve point-blank refused to answer the question. When discussing the nature of the problem, they’ve deliberately and cynically failed to refer to Islam or even Islamism, thereby actively misinforming the (few) people who take them seriously for patently ideological reasons. They’ve said ‘we must distinguish between Jews and Israel’, thereby suggesting that while violence towards Jews is unacceptable, unhinged hatred of Israel for defending its people against the same extremism motivating savage attacks on Jews in the West is somehow legitimate (it isn’t - see the screenshot of my tweet below for why).

Muslim politicians like Mothin Ali, who praised the October 7th massacre — during which unarmed Jews were shot in their hundreds, blown up and burned alive — as a ‘fight back’, spoke of their sadness at the ‘devastating news’ before immediately continuing to pump out ‘anti-Zionist’ propaganda on their social media channels. Hyper-woke publications like Novara Media whose commentators called Hamas’ attack on Israel a ‘day of celebration’ (direct quote) momentarily suddenly decided they disagree with Jews being murdered. Mehdi Hasan went on TV and said it was upsetting but that we really ‘need to have a conversation’ about is…Jews supporting Israel. Nice. And then, after briefly feigning horror, ‘progressive’ and Muslim agitators got back to business as usual, and declared that our concern should actually be…Islamophobia.

And all the while, our government ploughs on with its plans to censor frank discussion of the issue through the introduction of what will essentially amount to an Islamic blasphemy law introduced via the back door, under the guise of combatting ‘anti-Muslim hate’. You couldn’t make it up.

In short, the great and the good have been obfuscating and deflecting so hard their eyeballs are popping out their heads to avoid mentioning why Jews are being attacked and who is overwhelmingly responsible. It’s predictable, pathetic, and it’s getting people killed.

So let’s state the obvious.

The fundamental problem isn’t abstract, generalised ‘antisemitism’. It isn’t ‘those seeking to divide us’. It isn’t ‘austerity’, or ‘Israel being mean’. It isn’t even primarily ‘the terror marches’. It’s that there are large numbers of Muslims in this country and around the world who hate Jews and who keep attacking Jews. That’s what motivates attacks on Israel and Israelis, and it’s what motivates the attacks on Jews in the West.

Our entire liberal political and media class twists itself into knots to avoid admitting this, as it always has and seemingly always will. But the reality is plain to anyone not blinded by ideology; only those determined not to see it keep pretending otherwise.

And then imagine they vow to do it again and conquer your nation and kill you because they believe their holy book tells them Jews must be executed.

And then when you protect yourself, they scream ‘genocide’ and ‘ceasefire’ while holding your children and elderly citizens in tunnels to murder.

Oh wait, we don’t need to imagine it. That’s what happened.

Well, in that case imagine you’re living a quiet life, until Muslim armies invade your town, your region, and a vast swathe of the planet in every direction. Then massacre and subjugate the non-Muslims. And then their descendants claim they’re indigenous, and sporadically eradicate minorities who try to coexist with them.

The sane response to crimes like these, which are becoming shockingly commonplace, is sympathy for the victims and outrage at what amounts to a brazen assault on democracy itself. It is also to be disturbed by the increasing normalisation of political violence, and to seek to counter the groupthink and dogma (especially of the woke and ‘liberal’ varieties) that have resulted in high-profile conservative figures, including the president of the United States, being repeatedly targeted.

But in the rapidly growing and increasingly unavoidable cesspit of Conspiracy Land, none of that matters. Rather these horrendous events are instantly seized upon by grifting ‘influencers’, distorted, and weaponised to inject paranoia into the public sphere. And so, in a twist that will surprise literally nobody, they’re blaming Israel and the Jews. And the ‘deep state’. And the Trump administration. And nondescript nefarious dark forces. Nothing new there, then.

24,000 likes for a post implying the assassination attempt was a false flag to enable Israel to build something very scary (‘lord knows what’) under the White House ballroom because the ballroom’s architect has a Jewish name…

There’s so much of this poison out there that it’s impossible to begin to cover all of it. So I’ll focus on the treatment of Erika Kirk in particular, which should give a sense of the wider rot.

4.6 million views and hundreds of thousands of ‘likes’ for a tweet mocking a traumatised, recently bereaved mother fleeing an unknown gunman, shortly after her own husband was shot in the neck for his political beliefs, and died. Lovely.

There are thousands of other examples I could have chosen from, obviously. But by now you get the picture.

At this point it’s worth clarifying why Erika Kirk is the focus of such hatred. In short, it’s because online nutters (e.g. Candace Owens) have spent almost every day since Charlie Kirk lost his life pumping out lies about her: that she was complicit in his death, that she’s a Mossad agent, that she’s covering stuff up, that she’s involved in the rape and torture of kids (yes, they actually claim to believe this), and much more besides. There are no words.

Candace Owens suggesting we’re governed by ‘machines’ or ‘sentinels that look like humans’, and that Erika Kirk is a ‘hybrid’.

I rarely use the term ‘evil’ when discussing ideas but this stuff is, actually, evil. It rests on the deliberate dissemination of falsehoods designed to bully and vilify innocent people for personal gain. It sows mistrust and doubt, exonerates the true perpetrators, and shields genuinely harmful political trends from scrutiny.

I’m not sure I’d have believed it possible for this mindset to gain significant traction in the modern West if I hadn’t witnessed it with my own eyes. In hindsight, that was naive; the same impulse has surfaced repeatedly throughout human history, from medieval witch trials through to Nazi Germany. What is striking however, is seeing it re-emerge so swiftly, and in forms that show signs of creeping more broadly into mainstream political life.

Until recently, Maoist wokeism was probably the most repulsive political movement I'd seen take hold in my country. But this psychotic conspiratorialism is now giving it a run for its money. As I’ve described elsewhere, its proponents cannot be reasoned with, and their impact on society is ~100% negative. It takes the very worst aspects of various worldviews—the vindictiveness, cliquiness and dogmatism of the left, Islamist-style bigotry and deceitfulness, and the delusional tendencies of the dumb right—and unifies them all under a single umbrella.

It needs to be put back in its box quickly, or the consequences won’t be pretty.

What has given rise to this conspiratorial thinking?

Turned on the London marathon for five minutes this morning. Saw massive Palestine flags flying at the start line. Then on lampposts all along the route, on fences, in the crowd, etc.

The flag of a foreign land governed by literal jihadist terrorists who hate Britain, hate the West, and are dedicated to the eradication of Jews. Oh and who recently mass-murdered every ‘infidel’ they could find. It’s forced on us endlessly, and people are scared to push back against it. But the average Brit is sick of it.

Simply put, it’s an attempt at ideological domination, and a symbol of the Islamisation of our cultural life. The direct and entirely predictable result of the spread of sectarian Islamic norms and practices which have been imported.

It’s not organic either. It’s pushed by a vocal and shameless minority of activists, and is being bolstered by ‘liberals’ and the cult-left.

You’ll get gaslit and abused for pointing out this out of course, but that doesn’t make it any less true.

A typical and deliberately misleading post by Maram Susli, a Syrian Muslim whose family migrated to Australia. She now spends her time spreading lies to promote jihadists who hate non-Muslims. So enriching!

In other words, this nightmarish photo really proves the exact opposite of what’s being claimed, namely that groups pro-Pal agitators support are committing grave war crimes, not Israel.

Those agitators know this, of course, but couldn’t care less. Indeed, they’re entirely happy to use images of kids murdered by their own side to demonise Israel for fighting against jihadist death cults. Damaging Israel by any means and bolstering brutal theocratic regimes that oppose Israel are their sole objectives. These take precedence over truth, honesty, or the wellbeing of the civilians they claim to care so much about (after all, their own social media posts prove that the militias they back kill civilians, including unarmed children).

It’s all so totally third-world. And Westerners fall for it! And not just Westerners of the anti-civilisational woke and braindead liberal varieties, either. A large and vocal swathe of the right is increasingly being captured by Islamist dogma, too (for more on that, see my notes here and here, and my essay here).

There are so many examples of this stuff I don’t know where to start. There was the time pro-Pal accounts raged about Israelis ‘looting Palestinian scooters’, when what the footage actually showed was Israeli soldiers peacefully retrieving scooters Palestinians had stolen.

Or, on a more consequential level, how about when Hamas and its army of online fanboys claimed Israel had massacred hundreds of people in a hospital bombing? The BBC, countless other mainstream media outlets, hundreds of celebrity douchebags and millions of Islamo-bots massively amplified the story. Angry crowds took to the streets to rage against ‘Zionists’. There was widespread outrage. And then it turned out the rocket that hit the hospital was fired by…Palestinians.

Note to reader: This never happened. But don’t let that stop you from firebombing a few synagogues in retaliation.

Remember when UN experts (read: activists) claimed 14,000 Gazan children would die within 48 hours? It went ultra-viral, made headlines around the world, and was literally just completely made up.

And let’s not forget this picture of a Jewish man shouting at a Muslim woman, which is always doing the rounds. It’s held up as proof of racist Jewish treatment of innocent Muslims, but is in fact a decontextualised still taken from a video which shows the woman initiating the confrontation by snatching his prayer book out of his hands.

I could fill up hundreds of articles by simply listing examples here (and other people have done, to their credit), but you get the point.

For pure comedic value though, I couldn’t leave out this one:

This was meant to be a shorter piece rather than an essay, so I’ll keep the conclusion brief:

Islamists who hate the West, hate Jews, and don’t bat an eyelid about straight-up lying to further their political and religious objectives are waging a shameless, constant and relentless propaganda campaign. And to a significant extent, it’s working. The result is that public discourse, and socio-political life more broadly, are being corrupted.

Stop falling for it. In the long term, it won’t only be Jews who suffer the consequences.

Conspicuously absent were the Muslim activists, and their leftist and liberal hangers-on, who have taken over our streets for the past 2+ years. You know, the ones who responded to Palestinian death squads funded by the Ayatollah carrying out a genocidal Jew hunt by chanting Islamist slogans non-stop in support of the people who did the killing. And ripping up posters of the babies, parents and pensioners being held in tunnels, tortured and executed. And flying Hezbollah flags. And calling for holy war…

Few events in recent years have exposed the moral inversion of our political life so clearly. To repeat, outspoken Islamic influencers and agitators who claim to be horrified by suffering in the Muslim world were largely nowhere to be seen. Leftists who bang on about opposing ‘oppression’ and ‘patriarchy’ were generally missing too (as they have been since news began to emerge of the uprising, and subsequent mass murder, in Iran).

Meanwhile, groups routinely smeared as ‘far right’ or ‘bigoted’ by those very same ideologues — patriots, ex-Muslims, ‘Zionists’ etc — turned up in their thousands to stand in solidarity with girls beaten and murdered for removing their shrouds, and with ordinary men and women being crushed by theocrats in the name of Islam.

None of this stuff should be forgotten any time soon.

Within hours of news breaking that Gazan terrorists had murdered every Jew they could find on October 7 2023, Western cities were awash with Palestine flags, celebrating the people who had carried out that massacre under the guise of ‘standing against oppression’. By contrast, weeks into the deadly suppression of Iranian protests by unelected, medieval mullahs, I have seen precisely one pre-revolutionary Iranian flag being flown in London.

Everybody with more than six working brain cells (which, to be fair, rules out virtually our entire commentariat) knows why this disparity exists. The situation in Iran fundamentally undermines the narrative that states ‘Islam = peace and love’, and by extension the idea that anyone who rejects that framing—and raises concerns about the societal implications of its importation and spread—is a weird bigot (for a longer read on how this massive gaslighting operation works, see the essay linked here).

Events in Palestine, meanwhile, are relentlessly spun to portray jihadists driven by the same worldview as those currently brutalising Iranians in their millions as the victims, when in fact the opposite is true.

As such, within large swathes of the Muslim community, as well as among leftists and elite-liberal moralists, there is an obsessive focus placed on one, and not on the other.

The correct analysis.

A classic.

It is staggering, but not surprising, to watch the people who claim to be so deeply emotionally affected by events in the Muslim world when it comes to Palestine go mute as protesters are beaten, imprisoned, and executed for opposing the Islamic regime in Iran (if they aren’t actively defending the Ayatollah). After all, this type of deeply selective outrage is foundational to their entire movement. Their lack of concern about the barbarism in Iran is no different from their total disinterest in the genocide of African Christians by Muslim groups, which has claimed vastly more lives than the war in Gaza — a war initiated by Islamist fanatics. Or their silence about the lynching of Pakistani atheists, the slaughter of Indian Hindus, the beheading of French teachers, the execution of homosexuals and apostates across the Middle East…

In short, the agenda they are pushing is a trojan horse for Islamic sectarianism, wrapped up in the language of ‘social justice’. And it has been widely adopted and amplified across our cultural institutions.

The protests in Iran are inspiring in and of themselves. But beyond that, they are throwing some of the most sinister currents in contemporary socio-political life into sharp relief.

Start calling this stuff out for what it is.

Who could have predicted that?!

While you gather week after week to chant Islamist war cries and laud yourselves as warriors for social justice, Iranians look on with disbelief.

While you lecture us about why veils and shrouds are ‘empowering’, they’re being imprisoned, tortured and executed for daring to tear them off.

While Iranian dissidents and Ex-Muslims are shouted down, arrested and even stabbed in London for ‘Islamophobia’ at your behest, people inside Iran are fighting for the right to reject religious dogma and escape theocratic subjugation.

While you run around ripping up posters of babies and pensioners being held in tunnels by murderous armies sponsored by the Iranian regime, they seek to wrest power from that same regime.

While you depict the tolerant West as some bigoted, Handmaid’s Tale dystopia, they’re risking their lives to escape subjugation at the hands of the type of fundamentalists you hold up as freedom fighters, and secure the liberties you cynically disregard.

Your fraudulence is on display for the world to see.

Because they’re clowns, John.
