WHAT I’M NOTICING 👀

I’ve been seeing more social roles with a serious focus on Reddit + community management and I’m not surprised. We’re craving human connection, the internet gives us infinite content and we want authentic conversations.

Maybe that’s why I’ve recently noticed some of my LinkedIn comments getting more reach than my actual posts. The conversation really is the content. Have you noticed the same?

CORPORATE BADDIES, THIS ONE’S FOR YOU 💅

I keep hearing that we’re all supposed to become creators and as a marketer, I actually love creating but I also love having a corporate career. I think millennials have been handed this weird message that entrepreneurship = success and corporate life = settling.

I don’t buy it. You can be a corporate baddie and a creator. You can build someone else’s company while building your own personal brand. You can have a 9–5 and still have something to say. I want my Substack to be my proof of concept. Not just “here’s what I know.”

When you actually dig into the data, only 67% of creators are making more than $10,000 annually. In this economy, without a partner supporting you or generational wealth, being a corporate baddie is a must when you are doing it on your own. Listen to the full episode of for the whole convo.

MY CURRENT WELLNESS ERA ✨

I’m also trying to remember that taking care of yourself isn’t something you earn after everything else is figured out. Movement, good food, fresh air, a cute gym outfit and a little less scrolling.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s feeling good in my actual life & yes, looking cute while doing it doesn’t hurt. 😉

I’m also 5 days into my Ovii journey and I’m already noticing less bloating—which has me crossing my fingers that my metabolic and hormonal health are getting the reset they’ve been asking for.

Sometimes the easiest way to get excited about the gym again is a little retail therapy…

Here’s my biggest AI opinion: Don’t let AI replace your voice. Let it help you find it faster.

We all know people are using it. The difference is whether you’re willing to make it yours. Use AI for the first draft then add your stories, your opinion, knowledge and perspective. Delete the filler. Take out the corporate robot language that actually says nothing. Make AI sound like YOU. The internet doesn’t need another perfectly polished paragraph that says absolutely nothing. It needs a point of view and value.

Job Job Jobssss

The plot continues.

I’ve had some really interesting conversations lately, a few opportunities moving forward and a couple that reminded me exactly what I don’t want. That clarity is a win too.

Job searching can feel like you’re constantly waiting for someone else to decide your next chapter for you. I’m trying to remember that I’m also deciding. The role, the people, the culture, the actual work, the way they communicate with candidates — it all matters.

I’m paying attention to the details now. The right opportunity shouldn’t require me to convince myself that it’s right. An organization that’s going to ask me to invest 4-6 hours of unpaid work before even getting to know me, it’s going to be a no. A missed opportunity on their end for sure, but I don’t operate like that.

Networking & building relationships

Being a job seeker means I’m spending a significant amount of time on LinkedIn. Which also means I’m getting a lot of connection requests that become transactional way too quickly. I get it — we’re all trying to build, sell, connect, grow, whatever.

But if someone took 30 seconds to read literally any of the posts I’ve been sharing lately, they’d have an easy conversation starter. Engage with my content. Ask me something. Tell me something interesting. Then maybe ask for the demo.

Because when the first interaction is immediately transactional, it’s hard to believe there’s actually an interest in building a relationship.

The wellness corner 🌿

Still very much in my wellness era. Protein before coffee? Still happening. Super tea? Obviously.

Trying to understand my body beyond the standard “everything looks normal!” annual checkup? Very much still happening. I’ve become increasingly interested in the why behind how I feel — energy, metabolism, hormones, inflammation, sleep, all of it. I think that’s one of the most interesting parts of getting older.

You start realizing that wellness isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about actually paying attention to yourself. I’m excited to try Ovii– ready to get my metabolic health in order.

Romanticizing the little things

I’m convinced we need to bring back making ordinary days feel a little more special.

A cute coffee. A walk when the weather is actually cooperating.

This week, I went to the fair and forgot how fun it is to feel like a kid again — when the toughest decision of the day is fried cookie dough or candy apples.

Obviously, fried cookie dough.

A good life is really just a collection of tiny things that make you stop and think, wait… this is actually really nice.

Currently…

Trying to stay present while also being excited about what’s next. Trying not to rush the season just because I don’t have the full picture yet. Trying to remember that a life in progress is still a life worth documenting.

Here’s to another week of figuring it out, romanticizing it anyway and keeping a little faith in what’s next.

Maybe that’s the point, you don’t always need to know exactly where something is going, sometimes you just need to keep showing up long enough to find out.

What’s Been Keeping Me Writing ✍️

Sometimes you keep writing because someone needs it & sometimes that someone is you.

Maybe what you’re writing isn’t just a newsletter, maybe it’s a place to channel the energy, make sense of the thoughts, document the becoming & find the people walking alongside you.

That’s what this has become for me, a little corner of the internet where I can talk about marketing one minute, wellness the next and then somehow end up talking about manifestation, dating or whatever rabbit hole I’ve fallen into that week.

& honestly? I kind of love it.

A Very Special Birthday 🎂

This past weekend was my mom’s birthday & in this season of life, I’m feeling especially thankful for her. We haven’t always had the relationship we have now & I don’t take that for granted. There have been a lot of conversations, growth, forgiveness, healing and what I can only describe as quantum leaps.

My inner child is happy. Getting to celebrate her while being in this particular chapter of my own life felt extra special. Life is funny, sometimes the relationships you spend years trying to understand eventually become the relationships you’re most grateful for.

The Job Search… Again 💼

Such an exciting topic. More fake recruiter outreach. More applications requiring me to authenticate that I’m not a robot.

More fun data entry. More “we’ll be in touch” followed by absolute silence.

But…

I do have an active opportunity that I’m genuinely excited to explore. That is, assuming the recruiter doesn’t cancel on me last minute.

We shall see. Stay tuned.

At this point, the job search has become its own reality show and apparently, I’m both the contestant and the audience. But I will say this: I’m ready.

This market has been tough, but I’m ready to do meaningful work again. I want to build. I want to contribute. I want to be around smart people doing interesting things.

I want the next chapter to feel intentional—not just like the next available job.

One thing I’ve learned: never stop learning when it comes to your fitness.

As most of you know by now, I’m an Equinox girly for mannnnny reasons.

The AI Witch Hunt in Marketing 🤖

The newest marketing flex: “This content has been reviewed and written by a human.”

Oy. The AI witch hunt is here. Let me say it again: I use AI.

I’m impatient with repetitive and redundant tasks.

I use AI for ideas and brainstorming. I use it to find duplicates in news articles I follow and point out what’s actually different or newsworthy. I use it to speed up the boring parts, so I have more time for the interesting parts. AI will never do the thinking for me. It doesn’t have my lived experience. It doesn’t have my hyper-local knowledge

It doesn’t know my audience the way I do. AI is my assistant. I’m the driver.

I think that’s the conversation marketers should be having. Not “Did AI touch this?”

But: “Did the human behind it actually have something to say?”

Speaking of Marketing… Let’s Talk Cultural Fluency + UGC 👀

Last night, a friend of mine who is building a company in the peptide space commented on a Reel I posted:

“You should do UGC. Download Trybe. You’re creative and can make cute girly videos.” 😂

Fair enough. As a true millennial who enjoys sharing little pieces of my life and as a marketer who understands the power of UGC/EGC...

I had to laugh.

I recently started using a SharkNinja mask because, in true millennial fashion, I’m trying to look younger, optimize my health and keep up with my wellness-girly era.

So naturally… I made content about it & this is where I think brands have a massive opportunity.

Consumers are already creating the content, they’re talking about products, they’re sharing experiences, they’re influencing their friends.

The same thing is happening internally with employees when it comes to employer brand marketing.

The brands winning today aren’t necessarily creating more content.

They’re creating the framework, resources and strategy that turns organic behavior into a scalable marketing engine.

That’s the difference between UGC being a random tactic and UGC becoming a strategy.

The Solar Eclipses, The Moon, The Manifestations 🌙

There has been so much conversation and energy around the moon, eclipses and manifestation lately that it has me thinking about what I actually want my life to look like.

I’m getting specific. no debt (damn student loans), My ideal weight- 115 LBS, 8+ hours of sleep every night, mental health on track (no anxious thoughts)

The right nutrition, (protein for every meal), no unnecessary stress (why are you still single)

No alcohol ( almost 5 years) & A healthy, peaceful, abundant life.

What a dreamy lifeeeee, at least in my opinion. Manifestation isn’t just about writing down what you want, it’s about becoming the person who can actually sustain it. So yes, I’ll keep manifesting, but I’ll also keep doing the work. I don’t want to just wish for a beautiful life.

I want to build one.

When life gets quiet, there’s a lot more room for the thoughts you’ve been avoiding to find their way back in. One thought in particular has been circling around:

“Maybe the next kind of healing is learning to see yourself in the light others see you.”

For the first time, I think I can say… I do. I’m finally starting to see myself the way the people who love me see me. Strong. Capable. Creative. Resilient. Even when I don’t feel like it. Especially when I don’t feel like it. There are moments in this season where I’ve genuinely wondered:

God, what is the point of all of this?

The job search
The uncertainty
The waiting
The starting over

Yet when I really sit with it, I realize something: I have a strength that a lot of people never have to find. I don’t say that from a place of ego. I say it from a place of gratitude.

I know I’m anointed. I know God continues to give me the strength I ask for & for that, I will forever consider myself a blessed girl.

Maybe this season isn’t about becoming someone new. Maybe it’s about finally recognizing who I already am.

On to my least favorite topic… JOB SEARCHING 🫠

If you’ve been following along, you already know, the saga continues. Remember that company I told you about that abruptly cancelled my interview FIVE MINUTES before it was supposed to happen? Well…They reached back out & my response was essentially:

No, thank you.

What a missed opportunity, but honestly, this is where the first part of this newsletter comes back into play. When you know your value, you move differently. I offer way too much to be treated like that & maybe this is another form of healing too, learning that not every opportunity is your opportunity.

Sometimes the answer is simply: “That’s not how I want to be treated.”

It reminds me a lot of dating. If the guy you’re potentially interested in is disrespectful from the very beginning, why would you expect the relationship to magically become different later?

Same energy. The interview is the first date! Pay attention to how people show up.

On to DATING… 👀

I’ve been on Raya for a little bit now and…I have thoughts. Mainly: WHERE ARE THE CHIVALROUS MEN?!

I’m a big believer in courting. I like effort. I like intentionality. I like a man who actually wants to get to know you & yet, I’ve noticed something very interesting:

Men will match……and then not say anything??? Sir, what are we doing here?

I’m allergic to low effort & honestly, it feels like such a missed opportunity because I think dating could be so much more fun when people actually try.

So, to my male readers: Please explain this to me. Why do men match and then disappear?!

I genuinely want to know!

AI. AI. AI. 🤖

Can I be honest? I’m tired. My LinkedIn feed feels like one giant AI discourse cycle. Someone is talking about who uses AI, someone else is criticizing people for using AI, Someone is talking about Claude watermarking, someone is explaining why AI will replace marketing and then someone else is explaining why AI will NOT replace marketing.

Meanwhile…

I’m over here thinking: Can we talk about literally anything else? & here’s the funny part.

As a communications major who knows AP style pretty well, I can sometimes read someone’s post bashing AI…and immediately tell they used AI to write it. So, what are we doing?!

There are SO many interesting things happening in marketing right now. Community, Brand building, Consumer behavior, Creator economies, The changing media landscape, The evolution of search, The rise of Substack.

There is so much to talk about beyond:

“WHO USED AI?” And speaking of AI…I keep seeing these “Marketing Engineer” roles popping up. That title makes me laugh a little.

I completely understand the need for marketers to understand CRM data, automation, AI workflows, analytics and technology. I actually think marketers should understand these things.

But if the core responsibility is building technical AI workflows that scale across an organization…shouldn’t that infrastructure be owned by IT/Engineering and leveraged across departments?

Marketing should absolutely be at the table. We should understand the technology, we should know how to use it, we should know how it impacts the customer journey.

But I don’t think every marketer needs to become an engineer to prove they’re valuable. Just my two cents.

Things I’ve Been Doing to Keep Myself Sane 🧘🏻‍♀️

Because job searching is not exactly the most exciting activity for this creative girl. Some days I have to drag myself to the gym. But I still go & my little gym corner has become one of the places where I feel most like myself. There’s something about moving your body when your brain feels stuck.

It reminds me: I’m still here. I’m still moving & then…

I tapped into my inner child. I went to the track with a friend who loves racing and pretended I was Yoshi in Mario Kart. 🦖🏎️

Did I come in last? Every. Single. Time!

But honestly? I had fun & I think that’s the point. I’m trying to remember that life doesn’t always have to be productive. Sometimes you can just do something because it makes you laugh

A Little Beauty Never Hurt ✨

I’ve also been leaning into my beauty routines as I truly believe: To love yourself is to care for yourself. Even when everything else feels uncertain, even when you’re waiting for the email. Even when you’re questioning what’s next, sometimes self-care is putting on the face mask.

Sometimes it’s going to the gym, sometimes it’s making your favorite drink, sometimes it’s simply deciding that you deserve to feel good today.

But what if we spent a little more time looking at everything we have become?

The woman who kept going, the woman who keeps showing up, the woman who is learning

The woman who is still hopeful, the woman who knows she is worthy—even when life hasn’t given her the evidence yet, maybe being a “late bloomer” isn’t actually being late.

Maybe you’re just growing on your own timeline & maybe the next kind of healing isn’t becoming someone else. Maybe it’s finally learning to see yourself clearly.

And girl…I think I’m starting to.

Lately people keep asking me, “Wait...what even is Substack? I keep seeing you post about it.” My answer is always the same. Don’t start with, “How do I make money?”

Start with… What do I know that could genuinely help someone else?

That’s the marketer in me talking.

A few things I’ve been thinking about this week...

Why are so many marketing jobs suddenly becoming “engineering” jobs?

I’ve noticed more and more companies rebranding marketing positions into “marketing engineer” or “growth engineer” roles.

It makes me wonder… Is it because technical roles feel more “essential” to investors?

Or because marketing technology is becoming so intertwined with product that these functions should actually sit closer to IT? The titles are changing but great marketing still starts with understanding people.

The recruiter trend I can’t stop thinking about...

A recruiter reaches out. They’re excited. They ask if you’re interested. You respond immediately.

Silence.

As someone who has spent years in relationship marketing, I can’t help but think about the long-term brand impact. Every interaction is a touchpoint.

Every candidate is a potential future employee, customer, advocate—or referral.

Relationship building doesn’t stop when someone isn’t the right fit.

Reposted jobs...

This one has me curious too. A company posts a role. Hundreds...sometimes thousands...of people apply. A few weeks later… The exact same role is reposted.

Should LinkedIn have better guardrails around how often positions can be reposted?

Maybe. Because from a candidate’s perspective, it’s hard to know whether the company is still hiring, collecting résumés or simply resetting the application pool.

Transparency builds trust & trust matters.

The beautiful thing about our faith is that God never asks us to manufacture the fire ourselves. He simply asks us to stay close enough to the Source. Sometimes tending the flame looks ordinary. It’s choosing prayer when your mind wants distraction. It’s showing up even when nothing seems to be changing. It’s thanking Him for today’s blessings while still waiting on tomorrow’s promises. It’s saying “yes” to those quiet nudges from the Holy Spirit that don’t make sense to anyone else.

Faith isn’t sustained by giant moments.

It’s sustained by small acts of obedience repeated over time. So, here’s my question for you:

Welcome to Week 5. Truthfully? I wasn’t feeling particularly motivated to write this week. But motivation comes and goes. Momentum is built by showing up anyway.

Five weeks ago this newsletter was just an idea. Today, there are three incredible people who believe in this little corner of the internet enough to become paid subscribers.

It’s a tiny milestone in the grand scheme of things. But every community starts somewhere and I’m learning not to measure growth against someone else’s timeline.

The Road to Ithaca: A Job Seeker’s Odyssey

If you’ve been following along, you already know this job search has felt a lot like Odysseus trying to find his way home.

Progress. Detours. Hope. Then another storm. This week, though, something shifted.

For the first time in months, I experienced something that shouldn’t feel rare in recruiting: proactive communication.

No ghosting. No wondering. Simple updates.

Does that mean I’ve found “the one”?

I have absolutely no idea. But I appreciated the professionalism more than I can explain. Sometimes the smallest gestures restore your faith in people.

Unfortunately...I also had the complete opposite experience. Less than ten minutes before a scheduled phone interview, I received a cancellation email. The funny part? A recruiter had never actually contacted me in the first place. It was almost impressive.

If you’ve ever spent time reading employer reviews on Glassdoor, you know this isn’t uncommon & that’s exactly why employer branding isn’t just a marketing initiative.

It’s a people initiative. Every interaction becomes part of your reputation. Candidates remember how you made them feel long after they’ve forgotten the job description.

AI Isn’t Replacing Humans. It’s Exposing Them.

Lots of fascinating conversations happening right now around AI.

What happens when everyone starts sounding exactly the same?

LinkedIn recently began experimenting with identifying overly AI-generated content and it’s sparked some fascinating conversations. Personally, I don’t think the future belongs to people who refuse to use AI. Nor do I think it belongs to people who let AI do all of their thinking.

The future belongs to people who know how to collaborate with it.

One Reddit comment captured this perfectly:

“The only ones who will be outed are those consistently copy-pasting directly from a chatbot.”

Exactly. AI should amplify your voice—not replace it. The best writing still feels unmistakably human and maybe that’s the real competitive advantage going forward.

Speaking of social media...

I read Gary Vaynerchuk’s latest piece on what he calls the era of Interest Media, where algorithms prioritize what captures your attention instead of simply who you follow.

I think he’s right. Social media has always evolved. The creators who adapt usually win. The ones who cling to yesterday’s rules eventually disappear.

Ice is also my friend. There were definitely a few wobbly moments. But somewhere between trying not to fall and laughing at myself, I remembered something I’ve been thinking about lately:

The most interesting people I know refuse to become just one thing.

We’re constantly encouraged to build a personal brand that’s easy to categorize.

Pick your niche. Stay in your lane. Be consistent. But people aren’t algorithms.

We’re allowed to evolve.

I’m strategic. I’m creative. I’m deeply analytical. I’m shy in some rooms and the loudest person in others.

I’ve also started painting again. I don’t know where that’s leading yet. Maybe nowhere. Maybe somewhere beautiful.

Either way, I’m following my curiosity.

The Long Way Home

I finally watched The Odyssey.

Maybe that’s why this job search has been sitting differently with me lately. Odysseus spends years trying to get home. Not because he lacks direction. Because every step forward seems to come with another unexpected detour. Sound familiar?

What struck me most wasn’t the adventure. It was the reminder that love and honor aren’t emotions.

They’re choices.

In a culture obsessed with instant gratification, The Odyssey reminds us that the things worth having usually require patience. Loyalty. Sacrifice. Perseverance. Honor wasn’t about status. It wasn’t about image. It was about keeping your word. Continuing the journey.

Doing the right thing even when nobody was watching. I think we could use a little more of that today. Maybe we’re all trying to find our own version of Ithaca. Maybe home isn’t just a place.

Maybe it’s the person we’re becoming on the way there.

As we close out another week, I’m reminded that flames don’t stay lit by accident.

They require tending. Momentum isn’t built in one extraordinary day. It’s built through ordinary choices repeated faithfully.

So, wherever you are today, whether you’re celebrating a milestone or simply trying to keep the fire alive; I hope you remember this:

Keep showing up. Keep tending the flame. The road home is rarely straight. But it’s still leading somewhere.

I don’t know if I’m one opportunity away from a quantum leap. But I do know this...

Every newsletter, every application, every coffee chat, every workout, every idea I capture is another vote for the person I’m becoming & honestly… that feels like enough.

Speaking of momentum...I renewed my passport today.

It doesn’t expire for another six+ months, but I’ve learned that momentum isn’t just about reacting—it’s about preparing for what’s next before you need to. Which also meant doing the dreaded passport photo. Let’s just say… Please don’t judge me. My face card is significantly stronger in real life. 😂

But that little appointment reminded me of something bigger. I’m planning for a future I fully expect to happen.

Costa Rica’s beaches, my uncle’s memory and rainforests are calling me home. I’m dreaming about eating my way through Beirut, spending long afternoons by the Mediterranean and one day walking through Jerusalem. And if you’ve been following along for a while, you already know I’m craving the nonstop energy of Tel Aviv.

Maybe none of those trips will happen this year. Maybe they do. Either way, renewing my passport felt like another small act of faith. A reminder that I’m not just waiting for life to happen.

I’m getting ready for it.

My Momentum Framework ✍️

One question I’ve been getting lately is: “How do you not run out of things to write about?”

The answer isn’t motivation. It’s a framework.

Here’s what’s been working for me since launching this newsletter.

Throughout the week: Every idea goes into my Notes app. Marketing/AI trends. Interview lessons. Wellness discoveries. Things that make me laugh. If it sparks a thought, I save it.

Monday: Turn those ideas into an outline.

Tuesday: Write. Edit. Rewrite.

Wednesday: Add any last-minute thoughts, polish the copy and hit publish.

That’s it.

Nothing glamorous—just a system that removes the pressure of waiting for inspiration to strike. Ironically, it’s the same approach I’ve used throughout my marketing career.

When building content strategies, I start by establishing quarterly campaign themes, map monthly priorities, and produce content about two weeks ahead. Along the way, I’m constantly partnering with sales, product, leadership, and other stakeholders to ensure the content calendar reflects what’s actually happening across the business and supports revenue priorities.

Whether I’m building a content engine for a Fortune 500 company or growing this little corner of the internet...

Frameworks create momentum.

One content framework that’s helped me for years looks like this:

1. The Remix File

My own top-performing content. Reframe it. Refresh it. Repost it. Great ideas deserve more than one life.

2. Saved Posts

Anything that made me stop scrolling—especially content I disagreed with. Those moments usually reveal the strongest ideas worth exploring.

3. Other Platforms

I don’t look at other platforms to copy what’s working. I study them to translate ideas into a format that fits my audience and voice.

4. News Headlines

When a story aligns with your expertise, move quickly. Timely perspectives often outperform perfectly polished ones.

Plot Twist...Again 💼

Can we talk about the emotional roller coaster that is job searching?

A few weeks ago, I thought I had landed a fun part-time role that perfectly fit my lifestyle. Three interviews. Great conversations. Then… Nothing.

Ghosted.

For a part-time position. Apparently ghosting isn’t just happening in dating anymore.

Then came another plot twist. As of last Friday, I was being scheduled for the final interview loop with a company I was genuinely excited about. Multiple one-hour interviews. The finish line was in sight.

Monday morning...The role had been filled.

I’ll be honest. A year ago, that email probably would’ve ruined my week. Now? I’ve learned to separate disappointment from my identity.

I can’t control hiring decisions. I can control how I respond.

So instead of closing the conversation, I thanked the recruiter, shared how impressed I was with the candidate experience, and expressed my interest in several other roles I’d already applied for. Because opportunities don’t always come through the first door. Sometimes they’re behind the second one you almost forgot to knock on.

One thing I’ve promised myself during this season is that if I come across a good opportunity within my network, I’m going to share it.

I’m still exploring it, so I can’t give it a full review just yet—but I always like sharing tools that could make someone else’s search a little easier.

Wellness Corner 🌿

After everything that happened this week...Yeah. Taking care of myself wasn’t optional—it was necessary.

I’ve kept up with my weekly hibiscus tea (still accepting sponsorships), stayed consistent with my workouts, and leaned into the routines that help me feel like myself.

Okay...Can we have an honest conversation?

One topic I haven’t brought up yet is dating & if I’m really going to embrace Carrie Bradshaw, that topic is a must.

Recently I was listening to the podcast, and Maggie brought up something that made me think. Why some people are naturally attracted to partners who expand the way they think- The want neuroplasticity.

It clicked instantly.

I’ve always been drawn to men who are older than me—not because of status or money—but because I’ve always admired experience. Someone who has lived enough life to teach me something. Someone confident enough not to compete with me. Someone I genuinely respect.

As someone who’s always been mature for my age, it finally made sense. Maybe what I’ve really been attracted to is growth & maybe...Just maybe...

Substack will somehow be the place I meet my future husband. Stranger things have happened.

As for dating apps...I recently joined Raya. Three weeks. Three matches. My ego has officially been humbled. 😂 So tell me...Has anyone else had the same experience?

Marketing Trend I’m Watching 👀

Remember when I said… “Substack 2026 feels like early Instagram?”

I still believe it. Actually… I believe it even more now.

One thing I’ve noticed is how invested Substack is in helping creators grow. The platform constantly encourages creators to think ahead, engage with others and build community.

It’s refreshing.

And lately… I’ve started seeing brands and agencies echo the same sentiment. Check out IG giving me suggestions for my content. While preparing for a recent agency interview, I came across a post talking about the growing opportunity on Substack. I couldn't help but smile.

Validation. Brands are paying attention.

Creators are investing earlier. It reminds me so much of Instagram before it became...well...

Instagram.

I promised I’d introduce him properly. I’ve had Choco since 2020, and I genuinely don’t know what I would’ve done without him these last few years. He’s my little teddy bear, my emotional support system, my unofficial therapist and apparently... my recruiting coordinator.

During interviews? He’s sitting on my lap. When I’m writing thank-you emails? He’s listening to every word. When another application disappears into the void? He’s just as confused as I am.

Honestly, I think he’d like to file a complaint with hiring managers. His official statement:

“Hire my mom.”

It’s very much a team effort over here. But in all seriousness...On the days I didn’t feel like getting out of bed, he still needed his walk & sometimes that’s all the momentum you need. One small responsibility becomes one productive hour. One productive hour becomes a better day.

Funny how that works.

Last week I talked about temporary work and freelancing while searching for your next opportunity. One unexpected gift?

Some of the best ideas I’ve had this year didn’t come from sitting behind a desk. They came from meeting different people. Working with different industries. Listening more. Paying attention.

Good ideas don’t come from living in a bubble. Technology can absolutely accelerate execution. But it can’t replace lived experience or empathy. Those are still your biggest competitive advantages.

Instead of coffee first...I’ve been aiming for 30–40g of protein before caffeine. Too early to call it life-changing… But I do feel more energized throughout the morning and most importantly my cortisol isn’t shooting up first thing in the morning

And finally...

I’m attempting no phone after 8 PM. Reality? It’s usually closer to 10. Progress over perfection.

⚽ Before I go...

Is anyone else completely invested in the World Cup? Because I suddenly care about countries I had zero emotional attachment to three weeks ago. Cabo Verde being one of those & I’m actually sad it’s coming to an end.

Sports have a funny way of bringing everyone together.

Very unlike me.

By Tuesday, I was still filling out job applications, but I had Argentina vs. Egypt playing in the background. I know… Me? Watching soccer? But after all, I am from Pura Vida land (Costa Rica in case you didn’t know). Soccer was always on in the background growing up.

Funny enough, that game ended up becoming exactly what I needed. Because lately I’ve realized something...Sometimes quitting feels easier than continuing. Whether that’s the job search… Starting something new...or simply showing up when nobody is clapping yet. Then Argentina reminded me of something I already knew:

KEEP MOVING. Because a body in motion really does stay in motion.

Things I’ve Learned as a Substack Newbie ✍️

2nd newsletters in...I feel like I’m starting to understand this little corner of the internet.

First observation? People here are genuinely kind. I’ve already made some new connections—including , who’s known for leading conversations around audio-only content. Stay tuned...I’ll actually be joining one of his upcoming conversations.

If you’re just getting started, here’s one tip I’ve learned quickly:

Use Notes.

They’re a great way for people to get to know your personality before they ever subscribe. & speaking of subscribers...I didn’t fully understand the difference between followers and subscribers until joining Substack. Followers may see your content. Subscribers have actually invited you into their inbox. That’s a completely different relationship.

I’m excited to keep learning as I go.

One Tiny Detail That Almost Cost Me Interviews 📍

Let’s talk about a mistake I made...

While packing up my life in Miami (more on that mold saga another time 😅), I completely forgot to update my location on my resume and LinkedIn. Big mistake. Especially now.

I recently heard recruiters spend around six seconds on an initial resume review.

Six. Seconds. & with more companies returning to office, location matters again.

In fact, 55% of Fortune 100 companies now require employees to be in the office five days a week—up from just 5% in 2021.

Then something happened. A hiring manager actually replied to one of my outreach emails.

(Which already deserves its own celebration because let’s be honest...those responses are rare.)

She wrote:

Cue immediate lightbulb moment. Needless to say… LinkedIn and my resume were updated almost immediately. Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest difference. The role is with a Fortune 500 company...Located near where my career first began… I’m excited to see where this goes!

One thing I’ve learned during this season is that income doesn’t always have to come from one place.

Sometimes temporary opportunities lead to incredible relationships, unexpected projects, or simply give you breathing room while looking for your next full-time role.

Why?

Because I wanted to meet people. Every attendee walked through my station. Sometimes the best networking strategy isn’t attending every session… It’s positioning yourself where conversations naturally happen.

One of those conversations introduced me to the leadership team at Sofia Pulse, an AI-powered advertising platform helping brands create highly personalized campaigns.

Fast forward...

I’m now helping introduce their platform to marketing leaders looking to improve campaign performance through AI. Funny how one temporary opportunity turned into another.

It reminded me that freelance projects don’t just build income...They keep your skills sharp while you search for your next opportunity.

This is a new one for me.

Being fluent in Spanish has opened some interesting doors throughout my career, but this opportunity is a little different. Next week, I’ll be joining a Group Session to learn more about a freelance on-site interpreter position.

I honestly have no idea what to expect… Will it lead to a flexible side hustle?

Will I spend my days helping people navigate important conversations? Could it open doors I haven’t even considered yet? I’m keeping an open mind.

More Than Just Gym Water 🌺

One company I’m excited to learn more about and try is OviiHealth, which focuses on metabolic and hormonal health.

After hearing Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi speak on the podcast, I finally felt seen.

For years I’ve said, “I feel inflamed. Something feels off.”

Hearing someone articulate what so many women experience was incredibly validating.

Women’s health still has so much room to evolve, and as Dr. Aliabadi said, we’re only scratching the surface. So, consider this the beginning of another journey I’ll be documenting here.

Because if sharing what I learn helps even one other woman advocate for her health… It’ll be worth it.

One Last Thing...

Isn’t it funny how this newsletter started with me saying I almost didn’t write...I guess that’s the Substack effect. Maybe the lesson this week wasn’t just about soccer.

Maybe it was this:

The Four Words Every Job Seeker Dreads...

It’s officially July 1st.. which also means...

“As we head into the holiday week...”

If you’re job searching, you already know what comes next. Applications slow down. Recruiters take PTO. Interview timelines magically stretch another week. Hiring decisions hit the pause button & honestly? That can feel incredibly discouraging. But here’s the reframe that’s been helping me.

Instead of stressing about what isn’t happening this week… Focus on everything you can control. When I first started my job search, I wasn’t sending out dozens of applications.

I was building my foundation.

I updated my portfolio.

I rewrote my resume.

I optimized my LinkedIn.

& most importantly...

I made sure they all told the exact same story. Think about it this way. When you’re buying a product, you probably check the website.

Then Instagram.

Maybe LinkedIn.

Maybe reviews.

Hiring managers do the exact same thing. Especially now. Between AI-generated resumes and fake online profiles, your digital footprint matters more than ever. Your resume shouldn’t introduce a completely different version of you than your LinkedIn does.

Consistency builds trust & trust gets interviews.

🚩 🚩Red Flags to Keep on Your Radar

Let’s talk about something I didn’t expect to become part of my job search...

Scam detection. At this point, we all know NVIDIA is one of the biggest names in AI, so imagine my excitement when I received an email from someone claiming to be one of their recruiters (see images below).

For about three seconds, I was ready to start mentally picking out my first-day outfit. Then the marketer (and former recruiter) in me kicked in.

The first red flag? The sender’s email address didn’t match the company’s domain.

The second? When it came time to “schedule my interview,” I was instructed to continue the conversation on Facebook.

Immediate pause.

What’s Keeping Me Sane Right Now

Job searching can easily become your entire personality if you let it. I’m trying really hard not to.

So here’s what’s grounding me lately:

Every morning starts with a walk to the gym while listening to a podcast or Vous Church sermons (That’s my church in Miami). Today I listened to Sunday’s service because I missed church! Listen here

There’s something about starting my day with faith before emails, LinkedIn notifications and application updates that completely changes my mindset.

After that?

Straight to Equinox!

As cliché as it sounds...A body in motion really does stay in motion. Movement has become therapy for me.

The Homemade Drink I Won’t Shut Up About🌺 🌺

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen my red drink, People ask me what’s in it every time I post it.

Here’s the recipe:

• Hibiscus

• Fresh ginger

• Turmeric

• Lemon

• Cinnamon sticks

Boil everything together, let it cool & pour it into pitchers for the week. That’s it.

I swear by this tea.

It helps with bloating, supports my immune system and honestly just makes drinking water feel less boring.

Try it. Then come back and tell me I was right.
