It feels like yesterday when we were planning our goals and visions for the year 2026, and now we are in the ninth month.

Different feelings might be running through you now. Maybe I've just awakened something you may have thrown to the back of your mind.

2026 so far may have been exciting, pressuring, neutral, or just nothing to write home about.

Whichever side you are on, have you paused to ask yourself the necessary questions?

Call your name, and ask:

Where am I? Where was I coming from? Where am I heading?

What have I done right? What have I done wrong? What must I keep, drop, start or delegate?

Would last year's me be happy with where I am now? Would the me that began this year be proud of what we have done, even if not everything?

Now, keep an open mind and genuinely say Alhamdulillah.

You've come this far, failing, standing, striving, and as always, becoming. 

We take accountability. MinT hasn't been with you this year as she should have. And as you can see, we're back. 🤭

Sister, do not ignore me, don't snub this. 

The team sent me to talk to you. Either you've been hitting it since the year started, you dropped along the way, or you are still on the discovery journey... The truth is, a month can make a lot of difference, and we still have four whole months to go before this year eventually packs up.

The goal is to get it right in the end. Not how early, how soon, how perfect, or how easy; but to get it right, even if there are things we have to learn along the way. 🥹

We love to see you happy, productive and thriving.

Set those goals again, recalibrate, start over if you need to, stand up if you are sitting, just do something.

We have been apart for far too long, and that is definitely about to change.

As the year comes to an end, it feels only right to pause and reflect. Even as a community, we experienced our highs and our lows, moments of uncertainty, moments of clarity, and moments that reminded us why MinT exists in the first place. In this letter, I’ll be bringing you up to speed on everything that happened within the MinT community, quarter by quarter, celebrating our wins and acknowledging the lessons along the way.

Q1: Finding Our Footing

The first quarter of the year was quiet but intentional.

We hosted our first AMA workshop, “Getting Started,” facilitated by Mutiat Olagoke. It marked a gentle re-entry into community learning and set the tone for what MinT stands for accessibility, growth, and learning without intimidation.

During this period, we also onboarded new members as team leads, strengthening MinT internally and laying a stronger foundation behind the scenes. For us, the first quarter wasn’t loud but it was necessary.

Q2: Reflection, Faith & Vision Building

The second quarter arrived with Ramadan, inviting us to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with our faith, our intentions, and one another.

We celebrated Eid, and shortly after, conversations began to shift. Ideas were shared and possibilities were explored. This was the season where the vision for Elevate with MinT was born and carefully planned. We had a lot of preparation and planning to do it felt like drawing on our path just because we had to plan for a 7 weeks consecutive program” but, we had fun while at it.

Q3: Elevation & Stepping Outside

By the third quarter, our hard work began to bloom.

On August 24th, we launched Elevate with MinT, a 7-episode series that ran every Saturday consecutively. Together, we recorded over 500 attendees across the series a testament to the power of consistency and community.

Then came another milestone: MinT went outside for the first time. Partnership with Muslim Tech Expo!

At Muslim Tech Expo 3.0, we hosted Career Atlas with MinT, a live, hands-on, practical workshop. The energy in the room, the engagement, and the feedback made it one of our most impactful moments of the year. It wasn’t just a session, it was an experience, and one we’ll always be proud of. Another partnership was with Sihah Health Expo 2.0! We also had a great time there.

Q4: Building, Volunteering & Strengthening Community

The final quarter of the year focused on depth and We launched Build with MinT, starting with “Mastering Git & GitHub.” Applications opened on November 12, and we received 25 applicants for the series which is still ongoing.

We also welcomed new volunteers, reaffirming the heart of MinT: people who choose to show up, serve, and build together.

A special shout-out goes to Rahimat Yusuf, our Volunteer of the Year, and Sultanah Bashir, whose dedication and consistency stood out throughout the year.

And of course, we wrapped things up with our MinT Bingo, because community should always include joy. You can always do yours and let’s see!

Looking Ahead to 2026

As we step into a new year, here are a few lessons we’re carrying forward:

• Consistency will always matter more than perfection

• Planning boldly while remaining flexible is key

• Community grows best when everyone feels seen and included

• Rest and reflection are part of the work

• Showing up even imperfectly makes all the difference

We grew a whole as a community to from 303 at the beginning of the year, I am very proud to announce to you that we currently do have 497 community members! Share this with someone and let’s hit 500.🌚

We’ve set the bar high for 2026, and if 2025 taught us anything, it’s that MinT is capable of more than we imagine especially when we move together.

The month of April moved by so fast. Just a blink and wheemm, it is gone. The month just moved so fast like it had somewhere else to be. Well, AlhamdulilLah.

While a lot of us are still trying to review the first quarter, the first month in Q2 is gone. Is it just me or reviewing and re strategizing isn’t as easy has we are been told in a lot of workshops? Balancing things out can we quite hard. I will like to hear your view though. What have you practically done hands on that has kept you in track with your goals?

For us at the community, April was good. We are working on quite a lot of things and you will get to share them with you very soon! Spoilers? Well, I love spoilers!

The team is presently working to launch a number of things to make the community more accessible to everyone. Every year, we hear the same reminders about not being worshippers of the month of Ramadan alone but, what if I told you I have something different for you? Yes, YOU! It might not be “owo odun,” but it’s something far more valuable than Eid Superyogo.

Maintaining our acts of Ibadah after Ramadan can be challenging, but here’s a simple way to keep the spirit alive— by creating your own gratitude jar, book, or notes. It won’t cost you a thing—just grab that jar of plantain chips sitting in your corner! Here’s how it works:

We can all agree that journaling makes a significant difference in our daily lives. So, write down every new habit or act of Ibadah you are grateful for this Ramadan and keep them safe. Make it a point to revisit this jar or book every month to reflect on whether you’re still grateful for those acts of worship. This practice serves two purposes: it allows you to evaluate yourself and helps you track your consistency and growth in your deen.🤭

By the end of each month throughout the year, you’ll be able to monitor your progress after Ramadan, increase your iman, and continually assess yourself until the next Ramadan. Another key aspect is to be part of a community that is committed to your overall growth. Lucky for you, you’re already in one! 🤭 I hope you will be trying this out. Alhamdulillah, Ramadan is finally here! We have all anticipated this special time, and now that it’s here, let’s make sure we make the most of every single moment. This month is incredibly important to us as Muslims, so let’s maximize every moment to reflect, repent, and be productive in ways that bring us closer to Allah. I know Day 2 is gone already, regardless, Ramadan Mubarak MinTies!🌙✨

We kicked off last month with our first webinar with Mutiat Olagoke as our speaker on “Getting Started in Tech; Setting SMART Goals”. The session was a very insightful one as she shared in-depth insights on how to get started in tech and gave us practical tips on setting SMART goals. One thing she said really stuck with me:

“Set deadlines for evaluation and assessment on your own part. Goals without deadlines are not SMART.” — Mutiat Olagoke

If you missed that session, I really don’t know what to say because, it was such a valuable session! But don’t worry, we still have a long line up for you to attend.

We took a pause so we wouldn’t break, and now are back stronger than ever. The year has been nothing short of an incredible journey for the MinT Community. While it brought us moments of fulfillments and growth, it also came with challenges, tough decisions, and the need for rethinks and refine strategies.

The MinT Community embraced these moments as opportunities to restrategize, ensuring that our efforts aligned with YOUR needs as a community which is always focused on Your intentional growth and adaptation.

1. LinkedIn Optimization Workshop

We hosted our very first workshop with more than 80 attendees, equipping participants with tools to level up their professional presence.

2. MinT Book Club Launch

The MinT Book Club kicked off with over 100 participants, and together, we reviewed 5 impactful books that sparked learning and connection.

3. Pre-Ramadan Guide/Session

Over 350 Muslimahs participated in a transformative session designed to prepare and empower them spiritually for Ramadan.

4. Opportunities Shared

We shared valuable work, scholarship, and internship opportunities, empowering over 100 Muslimahs to take bold steps in their careers and education.

5. Partnerships Secured

Five strategic partnerships enabled our ladies to step out of their comfort zones, network, and connect with like-minded individuals which includes MTE, WUDU Africa, Sisters’ Seminar MSSN UNILAG, SheCodes Brand Summit and Muslim Youthpreneur.

6. Tech Workshops

We organized two workshops focused on mental health and consistency in the tech field, empowering 300 ladies with the knowledge and tools to thrive.

Reflecting on these achievements, it’s clear that commitment to reevaluating, restrategizing, and innovating made this progress possible. For you and me, now is the best time to pen those ideas, strategies, timelines and framework as we are making the next year more impactful TOGETHER.

The ember months are here! Four months to go and we are done with the year. New plans starts to roll in same as new goals but, before then let’s look into our now.

How was your August? Things aren’t going as planned? Well, I want you to catch a deep breathe and see the good in now. AlhamduliLah. Which of your Lord’s favour will you deny?

The month of August was quite tasking and intriguing for the MinT Community. We had a lot of new things and it was a very eventful one. Highlights of the month? I know you are sat!🤭

The month started with the process of onboarding new Maven Members. As usual, applications were sent out and quite a number of people applied. It was quite a competitive one because The MinT Maven is not just another community, MinT Maven is one that is solely invested in the growth of it’s members.

During the onboarding process, we had our TECH 101 webinar with Rahmat Lasisi which was themed “Getting Started In Tech: What To Expect And How To Prepare”. The major highlight from this webinar is for you to have an inquisitive mindset as asking enough questions and eagerness to know more, it pushes your determination towards getting the best and learning the best.

The MinT Community hosted a Twitter space on mental health themed “Managing Your Mental Health And Wellness In The Tech Industry”. A lot was learnt from this space. You missed out? We’ve got you covered. Here’s a recording of the session.

I hope you have started ticking off your second half goals for the year?! How was this month for you? For me, I was in between re-strategizing and strategizing for the the second half of the year and also for my spiritual growth for the new Islamic year. That been said, Happy New Islamic Year MinTs!🤭

In the month of July, MinTs had a lot of events to attend. Remember I told you about our new partnerships and the event we had listed out? Well, trust MinTs to attend in grand style. There was a lot to be learnt. First was the Sisters’ Seminar that happened in the University of Lagos.

Our second stop was the Lagos startup week. One thing that gets me excited about tech events is seeing faces behind the names in our community platforms. Like finally seeing someone after imagining what they will look like for a long while. Another thing that gets me excited is the swaggers! Why would you attend a tech events without getting swaggers?!

For the Lagos Startup Week, we had a blast, from meeting new techies to connecting with the tech gurus in the industry and listening to them talk was more than fun.

It’s been a while, how are you?! Hope you missed us because we do miss you! It’s half of the year already!🤭 A lot of has been going on globally.  Despite all that has been going on, how are your plans for the year coming along? Hope you still journal your progress and creative ideas?

Well, For me, I am still taking baby steps towards success.

Like I said, it’s been a while. Let me fill you in on what has been going on in the MinT community. Let’s do a little bit of catching up.

In the MinT community, there have been a couple of activities going on and some that have been completed. Here’s a Recap from the first  half of the year;

1. MinT Maven Section of the community: Since the beginning of the year, the MinT Maven has strongly built a focus group for Muslimah in tech who are very intentional about their career growth. The MinT Maven helps its members through accountability and sustainable habits and systems to grow unanimously.

2. Recently the MinT community held a LinkedIn optimization workshop. This was targeted to help members of the MinT community understand how to use LinkedIn for career growth and documentation which is aimed at reaching potential employers and like minded individuals that can help our community members create a positive impact in their immediate work environment and the world at large.

3. Just before Ramadan, a Per-Ramadan event which was themed “Maximizing productivity during the holy month” happened. The event was aimed improving the time management skills of our community members for them to attain productivity while making the best of the Holy Month of Ramadan through their Ibadah.

4. Lastly, the community launched a book club. MINT Book club, a book is read per month and reviewed in that month. So far, a book has been completed. (show your work) Presently, a review call on each book happens on the 25th of every month. Currently we are on the second book titled “The principles of patience”.

Phew, it has been a while, right? I hope you didn’t miss me too much🤭.

It’s the start of a new month and four months to the end of the year. What are your set goals and how have you been going about them?

For one, I’ve been more intentional about reading productivity books. I plan to complete at least six by September 30th. I’ve read ‘Atomic Habits’ by James Clear and I’m currently on ‘The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F**k’ by Mark Manson. These books have really expanded my mindset and opened up my eyes to a whole lot of things. I find myself subconsciously acting based on my learnings from these books. One thing that pretty much everyone knows but I’d love to bring your attention again is this excerpt from Atomic Habits:

At the start of the article, I asked what your goals are and how you’ve been going about them. I know it might be difficult to consistently work on them but having people with similar or even bigger aspirations than you do, will most certainly help keep you on track.

I got an accountability partner from the community, Zaynab Awofeso, and she pushes me to dream big. She pushes me to complete my goals. She pushes me to work. In school as well, I have two friends that share similar aspirations with me and reaching for those heights seems easier having people that push me, around me.

Do you have those people around you? No? You can look towards having them. The importance of having like-minded people around you in achieving your goals cannot be overemphasized. You can join our accountability group if you have no partner, or no idea where to start from. Just message any of the admins in the community. You also have to be very intentional about achieving your goals.

What about your goals? What do you want to achieve before the year runs out? If you don’t have them planned out, that totally fine. Remember our newsletter titled “It’s Not Over Until It’s Truly Over”? Yep, the year is not over, so it’s not truly over. Four months are left. Set your goals. Take a few minutes or hours to craft your roadmap for the rest of the year. You want to pray Tahajjud consistently? Code for at least an hour daily? Pray your five daily salah on time? Get an internship before the year runs out? Map it out and work towards it. Cut out distractions, get yourself an accountability partner, and go full-time towards achieving your goals and then see where you’re at when things truly end. No excuses!

This community is here to help you be a better version of yourself in anyway we can. Don’t forget that.

You give someone a smile, you’re rewarded. You recite the Qur’an and you’re rewarded for each letter. You intend to do good, you’re rewarded. You pick a thorn from a path, you’re rewarded. We get a whole month every year to multiply the reward of our good deeds by up to 70 times! Show me a greater act of love, I’ll wait.

It doesn’t end there though, regardless of the numerous ways Allah has provided for us to earn his Jannah, I present to you another opportunity— ‘Arafah.

The day of ‘Arafah is the ninth day of the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah and these are the best days of the entire Islamic calendar.

During these days, it is advised that we engage in more good deeds than usual to maximize our rewards.

On this day of ‘Arafah, the religion of Islam was perfected. On this day, Allah frees more people from the fire. The cherry on top? Fasting on this day wipes away two years of sins from your record; The year before you fasted, and the year after you fasted, before you’ve even sinned!

The ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah is in a few hours. We’re in the night of this day already. To receive this amazing opportunity, fast during this day, the 27th of June, 2023.

Other acts of good deeds encouraged to perform on this day include reciting the Qur’an, observing voluntary salah, making Dhikr, making Du’a, seeking forgiveness, and giving Qurbani, which is a piece of your sacrifice for Eid.

Allah shows us time and time again how much he loves us. This time, it’s no different. Receive this display of affection from a master to his slave and bask in it, take as much advantage of it as you can. Allah doesn’t owe us anything, nor does He need us—we need Him. Yet, every time, He gives us so many easy ways to make Him happy and earn His reward. One of such instances is before you. Fast and engage in as much acts of worship as you possibly can and savor the love your lord has for you.

If you’re still with me, you’re the realest. We all know that Eid-ul-Adha falls on the tenth of Dhul-Hijjah, which is the day after ‘Arafah. Eid Mubarak in advance! I’m officially the first one to wish you! If you’re like me and you’re still not fully ready for Eid, know that you’re not alone. The only thing I have ready is my dress. That said, if you’re also rocking blue for Eid, just message ‘Blue Supremacy’ to the WhatsApp community, let me know my people!!!

Don’t forget, fast today, the day of Arafah (if you can), perform as much good deeds possible, and I was the first to wish you Eid Mubarak!

In our last newsletter, I mentioned that I had plans for how I hoped to spend Ramadan. I made a whole Google Doc file detailing all the actions I wanted to perform in Ramadan, every day for 30 days. It was going fine for the most part. Regardless of how my day went, I always recited my daily portion of the Qur’an. Things were going great, and there was no stopping me..., except there was.

Ten days into Ramadan, I realized a female Anopheles mosquito had come visiting and left me a gift—malaria. This was so not part of the plan. I hate malaria for so many reasons. One, the medicine. Two, the medicine. Three, the medicine. Did I mention the medicine? I also hate how I feel due to the sickness. This time, I hated it because it messed up my plans for Ramadan. Things were going so well until that came along, and it was a struggle to even sit upright! How things change in a second.

As you would expect, my voluntary acts of Ibaadah took a hit. I tried to console myself with the fact that my malaria symptoms would get better after 3 days, as usual. It did not. I only got better after 7 days. Ramadan was halfway over. My motivation was dead. My goal of completing the Qur’an in 20 days became impossible. I was devastated.

The importance of having righteous friends is something that is really emphasized in Islam, and time without number, I realize why it is so important. I spoke to a few friends about how I felt (Areebah included), and they made me realize that it is about how you finish, not how you start. They also made me realize that it is not over until it is over.

They reminded me that Ramadan had not ended, and I could still gather as much reward as I could before it left. They encouraged me and suggested acts of Ibaadah I could do to keep me going. Just like the last Ramadan, my best friend and I made plans together for Ramadan, and her progress also prompted me to pick myself up where I left off.

I have said a lot, but what is my point exactly?

Ramadan is still here.

If you are like me, and the fire you had in your heart for Ramadan died out somewhere along the line, pick up the matchbox and re-ignite it. Don’t compare yourself to people whose flames did not waver for a bit and only grew brighter. The race is between you and time. Every second that goes by is one less second you can utilize of Ramadan. You don’t have to do the most, but you must do something. It might be saying ‘Astaghfirullah’ every minute. Just take that step.

If you’re from those whose fire has been burning non-stop, take a moment to thank Allah for His favour upon you and be sure to keep it burning. Don’t feel like you’ve done enough, and you can relax. Let the day where you see your deeds be your fuel. Aim to be among the people whose regret on that day is that they didn’t do more good deeds.

Lest I forget, today is Jumu’ah.

‘Ramadan is a guest, how do you plan to welcome it? Will you welcome it like you would an esteemed guest? Prepare exquisite meals and keep the house in tip top shape?

Or

Would you welcome it like a guest you can’t wait to get rid of?’

This resonated with me because its something I’ve experienced. The times I experienced Ramadan without any plans, I didn’t enjoy it. The times I did, I loved it, and my spirituality grew.

So now I ask you; How are you welcoming this Ramadan?

Ramadan — The what and the why.

The significance of Ramadan is not lost on Muslims around the globe, but, I’d like to highlight them again in this section. This is to serve as reminder, help to renew your excitement, and to spread knowledge.

1. In this month, All the gates of Jannah (Paradise) are open.

2. In this month, all the gates of Jahannam (Hellfire) are closed.

3. In this month, the devils are chained.

4. In this month, Allah extends more mercy to His creations.

5. In this month, the Qur’an was revealed to the Holy Prophet Muhammad, Sallalahu alayhi waSalam.

6. In this month, Laylatul-Qadr (The Night of Decree) occurs, where all the Angles descend unto the Earth, and any Du’a is accepted.

7. In this month, the reward for each act of Ibaadah is multiplied by 70.

8. In this month, the third pillar of Islam is fulfilled, As-Saum (Fasting).

9. In this month, we get to perform more acts of Ibaadah.

10. In this month, we get to renew our connection with Allah.

The feelings that this month brings are unmatched. I’m sure you’ve experienced it. The pain of striving for Allah’s sake, the joy from ticking off your goals and growing closer to your Lord, and even the tranquility that comes with performing acts of Ibaadah. A friend even said you can feel that Shaitan is locked up. I couldn’t agree more.

Setting your Goals for Ramadan

A poll was made in the WhatsApp community yesterday asking if we’ve made plans for Ramadan and majority of the response we got was, ‘Not yet’. I was a part of the people that gave that response.

Alhamdulilah, I’ve been able to craft one up but I understand how you must be feeling. So, if you still haven’t created your goals for Ramadan, I’m here to tell you that you still can. Pick up that pen, sit for a few minutes, and try to reach the depths of your heart. What would you like to achieve this Ramadan? How do you want your connection with Allah to be? How do you want to please your Lord? What would you like to improve on from last Ramadan? Write them down, its not too late. Not having your goals set is even worse.

Some Tips for Ramadan

I still remember how fulfilled I felt at the end of last Ramadan. I had set goals with my best friend on maximizing the month and we made plans to support each other along the way. Where one’s spirit was falling low, the other provided encouragement and support. That’s my first tip for you. If you’ve not tried harnessing the benefits of Ramadan with a partner before or with family, try it out now. It could be the change you need. Don’t forget we at Muslimah in Tech are here for you if you ever need us. If the reverse is your case and you’d prefer going about Ramadan alone, try that. The goal in the end is that you’re able to meet your goals and improve your relationship with Allah.

Another tip I have is for you to try something new. Last Ramadan I didn’t read a book besides the Qur’an. This Ramadan, I have plans to read other books of Knowledge. It gives me something to look forward to. You can try taking a walk while you chant your Adhkaar, try learning something new about your Religion, try a different approach to learning — The possibilities are endless.

Do you know what a Du’a list is? It’s exactly what it sounds like, a list of Du’as. A couple of friends did it last year and I hope to do mine this year. Pour your heart in this. Ask Allah for everything and anything regardless of how minute it is. Have faith that your Lord will come through for you.

Participate in fun challenges and activities! It could be a crafts challenge with friends or family, a quiz on the stuff you learn during the month, moments of self reflection, or an Iftar cooking challenge. It’s up to you to enjoy and maximize this month to the fullest.

Also, do not feel like your acts of Ibaadah are irrelevant because of your relationship with Allah. This is your chance to make things right. This is your chance to renew your relationship with Allah and better it. This is your chance to start even better. And after Ramadan, keep the fire burning. If you feel it trying to go out, turn to resources that will help you keep it burning even brighter.

Don’t forget, we at Muslimah in Tech are also making plans to ensure that you enjoy this Ramadan to the fullest.

On a Final Note

I hope that after reading this, your spark for Ramadan has been reignited, and that you’re more excited for it than you were at the start. Remember, it is not too late to re-evaluate your mindset towards Ramadan, and give it the welcome it is due.
