The crisp autumn air, the crunchy auburn leaves and of course not forgetting to mention the gallons of Pumpkin spiced lattes I’ll be consuming these next months! I feel as though I come alive during this time of year…well until winter hits, then I’m a bit of a recluse.

But more importantly it’s spooky season! The time of the season for us witches! It often gets its spooky season name from the thinning of the veil between our world and the spirit world. The time of year where the seasons begin shift into darkness and our favorite harvest festivals arrive.

During this time of year, the veil between our world and the spirit world is at its thinnest, meaning those pesky lil ghosts can come visiting. While I'm all for all the witchy and fall activities, I make resetting my protection boundaries a first priority. After all, we know I live in a very very old cottage, I’ll be honest I’m not in the mood for dealing visiting ghosts.

After a long and exciting summer, fall gives us the opportunity to slow down a little, meaning we tend to spend more time within our homes…meaning it’s time to refresh those protective boundaries Witches!

And the easiest way of doing so is follows…

What you will need:

• a piece of paper and a pen

• a sprig of rosemary

• some salt

• any herbs that represent the intentions you wanting to bring in

• and a little organza bag.

What to do:

1. On your piece of paper, write down your protective intentions. Something along the lines of “This home is spiritually and physically protected. Only good vibes and good intentions can cross this threshold. Everything else is returned to sender”. If there is a list of names of the people you want to protect, you can write down their names on the paper too.

2. Then simply fold your piece of paper towards you and pop it into the lil bag.

3. Finally add in the rest of your ingredients into the bag, focusing on the intentions of each herb you’re adding. For example, rosemary is great for protection and clearing negative energy…and well salt? I think we all know that one by now.

4. Once you’ve added everything in, simply tie your bag shut and place it by the entrance to your home. Luckily, I have a little tree next to my front door, so I tend to tie my spells onto that. But you can place it anywhere you feel called to— making sure it is near to the doorway/threshold you use the most.

Think of this spell bag as a filter. It still allows the good vibes and energy to pass through it while stopping any negativity from passing through. When we over protect ourselves, we can often stop all the good things too, so using a simply mesh bag prevents that from happening. I am totally guilty of over protecting myself.

Now that we’ve got the protection out of the way, let’s get onto the fun stuff 🎃

On the 28th of August, we are entering a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in the sign of Pisces. It’s officially eclipse season! As always, I’ve got you covered—in today’s lesson, let’s deep-dive into this eclipse, why you should (and shouldn’t) cast magic during it, and what spells to work with if you choose to get casting.

I’ll be honest, I love eclipse energy. The transformations, the acceleration! I’m 100% here for it. This August we’ve been blessed with triad of cosmic events: a solar eclipse, the meteor shower, and now this lunar eclipse.

It’s hard to keep up!

With this eclipse falling along the Virgo-Pisces axis, things are more than likely going to get a bit emotional for us all. Illusions are dissolved, what no longer serves us is stripped away, and we are propelled onto our true soul path. While the solar eclipse earlier this month brought new beginnings, this lunar eclipse is clearing out the dead shit so that those new beginnings actually have the space to grow.

Eclipses have a bit of a habit of radically rearranging our lives, which is why they feel mentally and emotionally charged. But that rearrangement is essential. It brings opportunities to close outgrown chapters, offer clean slates, and transform impossible situations.

For anyone needing a quick refresher on this event: the lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth moves directly in between the Sun and the Moon, blocking sunlight from reaching the moon’s surface. Basically, causing it to momentarily visually disappear. While our usual full moon brings revelations or natural climaxes, an eclipse speeds this shit up - often forcing an ending and a beginning at the exact same time. Hence why it may get a lil emotional! But at the end of the day, it’s for our greatest good. With the Moon in Pisces, those long-buried feelings or unresolved grudges will surface to finally be sorted.

Don’t ignore your intuition right now. When emotions run high and things feel completely out of control, note that your gut instinct usually knows what to do long before your mind does. Listen closely to what your intuition is telling you during this eclipse.

To Cast or Not to Cast? The Great Eclipse Debate

Once again we are met with the debate of to cast or not to cast during the Eclipse. And to put it bluntly, if you feel called to cast then do it! Your witchcraft journey is your journey, and yours alone.

Don’t get me wrong, eclipses are sometimes a bit of a wildcard…but occasionally a wild card is what we need. If you’ve been looking to shake things up and get the ball rolling, the eclipse is a great time to do it.

so why are people hesitant to cast…

Technically, an eclipse is a brief blackout of the moon’s light—an interference with the light (obvs). In a nutshell means that the eclipse can bring in unpredictable and chaotic energy. Because these events are ruled by fate and karma, the Universe steers us in a particular direction (where you’ve always belonged), whether you want to or not.

Reasons why witches sometimes avoid shellwork:

• It can be a little unpredictable. The intentions we set during an eclipse can manifest in unexpected or even messy ways because the energy is all over the place.

• Fate Takes Over. The universe is already doing the heavy lifting for us. Sometimes when we try to micro-manage the universe, it can feel like a never ending battle. Sitting back and relaxing is sometimes the easiest way.

• It’s kinda draining tbh. Eclipse energy can leave us feeling very tired and emotionally all over the place, which in turn makes spell work feel more of an effort.

Why Other Witches Love Casting (myself included):

• It’s TRANSFORMATIVE! If you feel as though you need a drastic shift in a particular situation, then the casting during the eclipse is going to do just that!! Let’s accelerate that mother fucker up!

• Highlights our shadow self. Especially with it being in the sign of Pisces. The eclipse is the prime time for releasing any emotional baggage, breaking cycles, and working alongside your intuition. It shows us the things that are currently holding us back.

Honestly? Cast if you wanna cast, don’t if you don’t! You’ll get a gut feeling on whether you feel like you should do something or not.

I was wrong.

Obviously.

14 years down the line, and well yes I still do cast spells but my practice doesn’t involve slumped around my cauldron and casting 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Because quite frank, that sounds exhausting. Your energy is expensive.

While spells do make up let’s say 30% of my practice…the other 70% is the little mindful things I do each day. The intention in the everyday life.

Just because spell casting doesn’t make up 100% of my practice, it doesn’t mean that I am any less of a witch. Or what my teen self would say…a fraud. If anything, I would say I’m more of a witch now, than I have ever been.

Okay, I can already hear you saying. “Lilly if you’re not casting spells, then what the hell are you doing and how can it be witchy?”

My response: “intention, is intention. It comes down to managing your Energy Budget”.

Let me get my maths brain on. Between working, tidying the house, cooking dinner, grocery shopping, running errands, and trying to stay sane, most of us end up with only a small amount of energy left after all of that. We have so much other stuff doing, that finding the time or energy to squeeze in a big spell after all the other bits we’ve just done, will be draining within itself. Let’s be honest, there is never enough hours within the day.

If we try to then squeeze massive spell workings and rituals into a day where we’ve got 100 and a million things to do, none of us would ever have the strength or desire to be a witch. We’d just burn out. The last thing we want is for witchcraft to feel like a chore too.

That’s where Intention comes in.

Intention is a focused mental state where we consciously direct our energy, attention, and purpose towards a specific outcome. Us witches like to multitask. Finding intention in the everyday means we don’t have to spend energy we don’t have casting spells all day to get the dream life that we want. We can save and bank up our energy for the heavy-lifting spellnwork for when it’s actually needed and when we feel called to cast.

Remember that 70% I was talking about earlier? The 70% made up of mindful things I do each day? This is how I do it, without draining my own bloody battery: I go about my usual boring everyday tasks that need doing and add in a drop of intention to turn them into a beneficial part of my practice. Work smarter not harder witches!

• Folding the laundry? Done with magical intention.

• Washing the floor? Done with magical intention.

• Driving the daily commute? Done with intention.

It is all about your intention, not the spells that you cast.

Intention. Intention. Intention.

And also energy is energy. It cannot be created or destroyed, meaning we have a finite resource. It’s time we use our intention so that we can spend our energy wisely.

This means if you’re directing intention into your morning coffee, you’re turning it into a mini spell within itself, just minus the candles, cauldron and lengthy ritual.

Carrying intention with you throughout your day, can be something as simple as a nod of acknowledgment.

The secret to my 70/30 practice comes down to one simple thing: I don't need to add new tasks to my day; I just change the way I approach the tasks I’m already doing.

You already have to do the washing up. You are already going to make your bed (hopefully). And you certainly, will be drinking water! (this is your reminder, go get a glass!)

So, why not turn these boring tasks into something that is going to help you to manifest your dream life without having to get your candles out and dust off your altar.

The first total solar eclipse to grace our skies since 2019. A beautiful astrological event to close out the Lion’s Gate Portal on august 12th. In this post, I’m going to teach you everything you need to know about this event and how you can use it to your witchy advantage! What Is Happening On August 12th?

On the 12th of August at 1.46pm EDT, the solar eclipse reaches its peak. This is where the moon moves directly in-between us (earth) and the sun, covering the entirety of the sun propelling us into darkness for a short period of time. While this event is beautifully stunning to witness, it also carries a lot of spiritual meaning and weight behind it.

The main theme of this astrological event is that it will help you to reset and recalibrate your life so that you are propelled further along your soul’s path.

Why Leo Energy Hits Your Personal Life?

When a total solar eclipse occurs while in the sign of Leo, this event will target your personal life. Now, this is not something you need to get worried about. It doesn’t mean you have to start warding yourself and your home against misfortune. But what this event will do— it will help clear out everything that is no longer serving you, whether you want it to happen or not.

The Universe always has our best interests at heart, but sometimes we do need a bit of a kick up the butt to get things moving. So the things that you have been putting off letting go…the Universe is going to do it for us.

Why We’re Skipping Traditional Manifestation Spells

Now, I’m sure you’re all accustomed to me providing you with different manifestation spells to do with each astrological event, but in this case, I’m going to get you to approach it slightly different, this time around.

You see, eclipses bring about chaotic energy, and they shine light on the things that need to go, which can often lead us feeling uncomfortable and put out. For example, our limiting beliefs.

While I'm not saying you cannot cast spells to manifest money, or bring about a sense of new found abundance. But the eclipse shines a light on our shadow self. The parts of us that hold us back from manifesting that money. Negative thought’s such as “I don’t deserve financial freedom” “I’m never going to be able to pay of this debt” etc etc.

So the aim of our spell work during this eclipse is to help banish these limiting beliefs so that we are able to go get the cash that we want. Sometimes it’s all well and good manifesting extra cash, but if we have mental obstacles that are in the way, it is going to hold us back from getting what we want.

Facing the Shadow Self

This is where things can get a little uncomfortable. To ensure we can continue moving along our highest path, we must confront our shadow self. Our shadow self is the part of us that worries, minimizes and downgrades ourselves. Learning to notice these parts and address them, is what will allow us to get what we want. And this is the exact benefit of an eclipse. An astrological event that reveals the hidden limitations about ourselves so that we can overcome them and move on.

And my best advice for this event, isn’t to cast a spell to automatically remove and bury these beliefs in the sand. It is to trust the process, lean into what the eclipse reveals and go with the flow.

Sometimes, more spells and manifestations aren’t always the answer. We don’t have to collect moon water under each astrological event. Sometimes, we just have to sit back and enjoy the ride. This is the time for doing just that.

To note: While we might not notice things changing right away, the second the sun goes dark, things may begin to crop up over the next coming months.

Things to do this solar Eclipse

• Instead of manifesting more things, manifest the ability to overcome the things that are holding you back.

• Trust that everything that happens over the next day, week or month is the Universe working in your favor. When we surrender control, we allow things to occur naturally. Think of it this way: if we’re giving the Universe a check list of specific things that we want…we can easily and accidentally be saying no to bigger and better things.

• Stay open-minded. Eclipses propel us along our soul’s path faster than we can even imagine. New opportunities and break throughs can come from the most unexpected places, but we have to be open minded to be able to accept them

When it comes to witchcraft, having a designated space to perform your spell work is extremely helpful. My idea of an altar is a sacred space where you can dedicate a small or large portion of your room/ home to your witchy practice. A space where you can cast your spells, give offerings and honor your own witchcraft journey.

While I have already covered how to create your own permanent Altar in a previous substack post, we’re talking mini travel altars today. An altar that you can take traveling with you. It was in late 2025 that I realized the importance of taking at least a few witchy items with you when you travel. Partially because of my haunted doll situation and the fact that I had indeed not taken any of my witchy protections with me.

Let’s be honest we all know the feeling — a mixture of excitement and apprehension when we go traveling.

But I'll be honest this feeling that can often leave us feeling drained; especially when we’ve been lugging our bags all day, sitting cramped next to people we don’t know and going to places we’ve never been before.

When we travel, we are leaving the protective walls of our home behind. Our daily rituals, our altars and the familiar energies of our home.

When we are busy traveling into and out of airports, train stations and dense areas of people, our personal energy can get scattered. This is why I find bringing a portable altar with me when flying around the world is important for my spiritual hygiene.

Think of the portable altar as a way of creating a protective boundary around your energy while on the move. It is also great if you need to cast a spell mid flight. Taking a mini altar with you while traveling helps to keep your energy anchored. Think of it this way, the Altar acts as a landing strip for your energy, a constant beacon where your spirit can find you when you’re off galavanting.

Taking a travel altar with you, doesn’t mean you’re going to have to accommodate for an extra suitcase when on your holibobs, but something like a small mason jar or trinket box is perfect for giving your spirit a place to land. A little token from home to carry with you while you explore the world.

Let’s be honest for a second: we live in a world where we get instant feedback. We press a button and our food arrives 40 minutes later. We send a text, and someone replies straight away. We live in a world that craves instant results, so naturally, we all believe our spellwork is going to do the same.

I am just as guilty of this! We assume that the Universe works the same way. But unfortunately, the Universe isn’t subscribed to Amazon Prime.

We give ourselves deadlines for our spells. If it hasn’t worked in a week, then it’s never going to work. Yes, the Universe works in our favor, but it works on its own timeframe—a timeframe that ensures that our spells come into fruition when the time is right.

Think of it this way: when we plant seeds in our allotments, we don’t expect a carrot to sprout the next day. It takes time. Time for the seed to germinate, grow, produce flowers, and then the fruits. Our spells are the exact same.

Don’t get me wrong, sometimes we are beautifully blessed and our wishes come true within the week. But more often than not, it takes a little longer for us to see the results.

Alignment doesn’t have to been seen.

Just because we don’t see them working right away, it doesn’t mean nothing is happening.

Just like plants, the Universe needs the right conditions to grow and deliver our wishes. Sometimes it takes a handful of “coincidences” to align before we see our results.

Take myself for example: since the age of 15, I have always wanted my own witchy shop—a shop where I can sell crystals, spells, books, etc. I planted the seeds of intention over 14 years ago, but it wasn’t until these last couple of months that I have finally been given the opportunity to open a shop.

Now, this isn’t to say that it will take 14 years for your spell to work, but it is to say that pieces of the jigsaw puzzle need to be put in place before we get the results that we want. In those 14 years, I’ve created a brand, an online platform, my own line of products, a website, etc. If I had just gone straight into renting a shop with little knowledge of what I was doing, there was a high chance I’d have failed. Scratch that—I would have.

Trusting the Roots.

What I am trying to say is that sometimes, if we’re casting bigger, life-changing spells (or even a small spell), we can’t put a deadline on them. When we do so, we’re not empowering the spell; if anything, we’re suffocating it. If you’re casting your spells aligned with both your intuition and your actions, ultimately, it will work.

The same way you would trust the seeds that you’ve planted, we need to trust in our own spellwork. Yes, we may not be able to see below the surface when we’ve planted our vegetable seeds, but we do put our faith in those seeds that their roots have started to grow—hence why we continue to water them. We don’t go digging them up to check.

The same applies to our spell work: just because we cannot see the roots of our spells taking place, it doesn’t mean that they’re not growing.

While you wait…

So, what do you actually do while you’re waiting for your spell to finally work?

First things first—DON’T GIVE UP!

No seriously, don’t condemn your spellwork as a failure before you’ve given it a chance. When we set deadlines for our spells, we are in actuality setting deadlines for ourselves: if what you want hasn’t turned up in 7 days, you’re a failed witch.

The Universe isn’t going to rush to align everything for us just so that it arrives on next-day delivery. It is going to take its time. And we should, too.

Keep showing up, keep taking daily aligned actions, and more importantly, give your spellwork the room to flourish. When you believe in yourself and your practice, everything will ultimately turn up. You have the power to manifest your dream life—you just need to believe it.

And the best way of doing so? Is to trust your intuition.

Align each spell with your intuition. And just as our gut instinct never lets us down, neither will your spells.

Keep your chin up, they are working! The Universe is just making sure everything aligns perfectly first.

The next time you find your anxiety creeping in saying it’s not working, take a step away from your altar, take a deep breath, and remind yourself that the Universe is always working in your favor.

Your job right now isn’t to force your spell to work—it is to trust that it will.

I always feel like this time of the year is bittersweet — summer has passed its half way mark but AUTUMN IS AROUND THE CORNER.

Lammas (also known as Lughnasadh) marks the first harvest of the Summer typically celebrated on the 1st of August. It is a celebration of the Sun and the beginning of seasonal harvests that are yet to come, that originated in Ireland.

Traditionally, the Celtic day started during the sunset of the evening prior. It marks the beginning of where the days become shorter and the nights longer- it is a sign that Winter is coming (GoT reference). I’ll be completely honest, it’s the shorter days that I dread but it does mean fall is on the way so…I can’t complain too much. It is also a good opportunity to grab the blue sky days and make the most of being outside.

With Lammas being the first harvest festival, its main symbol is grains and breads. While I’m not a baker, in this post I will show you different ways you can celebrate this time of year as a Witch that doesn’t require baking bread. is your go to for that!

While it represents the physical harvest of food, it is also a time that everything you’ve worked on so far this year will begin to come to a crest. An opportunity to create your own harvest for your own manifestations. Okay so what is the Lion’s gate Portal and should you care?

Every year, a beautiful celestial door opens up in the Universe and it is known as the Lion’s Gate Portal (which peaks on August 8th (8/8)). This is where the portal to wealth opens its doors. In a very brief nutshell, the portal opens due to the alignment between the Sun in Leo, the star Sirius and the Earth.

The reason why it is known as the abundance portal is due to its numerology and the star, Sirius. In ancient Esoteric and Egyptian traditions, Sirius was the bringer of spiritual wealth, wisdom and the highest self. When it is in direct alignment with both the Sun (in Leo) and the earth, its wealth building frequencies are amplified in our direction. Due to landing around this time of year, it is deeply rooted with the number 8.

The 888 numerological code represents infinity, material wealth and cause-and-effect. Essentially the work you put in now will be infinitely amplified and result in wealth and abundance.

To add a cherry on top, as the portal opens the moon is in the sign of Sagittarius. MEANING any crazy and bold actions you take at the start of this portal window will pay off massively and bring extreme cases of wild luck! Why? Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter – the planet of luck and good fortune.

So when I tell you, now is the perfect time to cast a money spell.

I know we can often go through phases where we feel like our current timeline is a little stagnant. Every single day just seems to be one big day on repeat. For as long as witchcraft has been around, it has always been rooted in working with what you have. Witchcraft doesn’t have to use complicated rituals and herbs to be successful, and it sure doesn’t need to be expensive. Sometimes the best ingredients are those that can be found in your kitchen cupboard right now. The everyday herbs and spices we use in our food, all have witchy properties. They can all be used within your craft. Now, I’m pretty sure you already know that, but what you might not know is that you can create some seriously powerful blends with those ingredients. All of which will elevate your craft.

So…I’m going to stop rambling and give you the recipes you’re here for! If you have some spare time today, Sunday is a great day to curate your own witchy apothecary.

Feel free to adapt each receipe to your own needs!

Black Salt

Completely different to the type of black salt you can buy at your supermarket, Witches Black Salt is a blend of ingredients that in turn create a powerful protective blend that can be used for warding your name, safe guarding your home defending your energy and amongst many other protection related spells. Basically…if you need to protect something, sprinkle on a little Black Salt.

What you’ll need:

• Salt

• That pile of incense ash

• Black Pepper from your pepper shaker.

• any dry protective herbs such as rosemary and sage.

The steps:

Well honestly, it’s quite simple. Each time you light your stick of incense do so in a bowl of salt and dried protective herbs. After the incense has burnt fully, give the mixture a little stir to ensure everything blends together and empty into a little jar. labelled “Black Salt”.

During the Winter, I also add in the ashes from my log burner too — just be careful when doing this as it can get a little messy. There has been many times when there has been more ashes on the floor than in my jar.

How to use:

• Sprinkle a pinch of the Black Salt across the thresholds of your home (doors, windows etc) to ward off a negative energy and ill intent. This prevents unwanted guests, negative energy or spirits from entering your home.

• Property Boundaries: Bury a small amount at the four corners of your property to cast a protective shield over the entire lot.

• Workspace Defense: Keep a small vial of it on your desk at work to absorb toxic workplace gossip, envy, or microaggressions from difficult co-workers.

• To ward your name: write your name on a piece of paper and cover with a pinch of the black salt.

• The “Footstep” Method: In traditional folk magic, if an unwelcome person leaves your house, you can sprinkle a little black salt in their footprints or the path they walked to ensure they don’t return.

• Banishing Spells: Write a habit, situation, or person’s name on a piece of paper, place it in a jar filled with black salt, and bury it far from your home to neutralize their influence over you.

• Under the Bed: Place a small open bowl of black salt beneath your bed or nightstand to capture bad dreams, sleep paralysis anxiety, or nighttime restlessness. Empty and replace it every full moon.

• Object Cleansing: If you inherit an old object or buy something from a thrift store that feels heavy or “off,” place it in a container and surround it with black salt for a few days to strip away the old energy.

• Casting Circles: Use it instead of standard white salt to outline your ritual circle when doing heavy defensive or shadow work.

• Mojo Bags & Spell Jars: Add a pinch to protection sachets, spell jars, or amulets to give them a continuous defensive charge.

Just be careful using Black Salt near soft furnishings and carpets, as it can be a pain in the ass to get it all out and could easily leave a stain!

Money Cleaning Spray

If you’re cleaning your countertops you might as well use a spray that is going to draw in extra cash and abundance. Witchcraft can be found in the smallest of places, even in mundane tasks such as cleaning. So why not turn the tedious task of cleaning into a witchy activity! Pop in your headphones, listen to Stevie Nicks and let’s welcome abundance into your home!

What you’ll need:

• Your everyday antibacterial spray.

• Reusable tea bag/ mesh bag

• 2 Cinnamon Sticks

• 3 Cloves

• A wedge of fresh ginger

• A juice of one lemon

The Steps:

Once again this one is quite simple and easy to do! Firstly we’re going to make a prosperity tea. Simply grab your mesh bag and pop in the Cinnamon, Ginger and Cloves. Add into a mug of boiled water and allow the tea to stew until it is cold. Then pour the tea mixture into the antibacterial spray bottle. Squeeze in the lemon juice and give the bottle a good shake. You have literally just created a Anti Bacterial Spray that removes any money obstacles and calls in cash while you clean.

If you don’t feel like using your anti bacterial spray you can dilute some white vinegar into a spray bottle instead and then add in your money drawing ingredients.

How to use:

• Purify Money & Wallets: Mist the air or a cloth and wipe down your wallet, purse, and the edges of debit cards to clear the heavy energy of past expenses.

• Boost Business & Career: Spritz your desk, keyboard, or shop’s cash register to break through professional stagnation and invite sales.

• Clear Financial Anxiety: Spray the air before paying bills or opening bank statements to shift your mindset from fear to control.

• Anoint the Front Door: Clean your front door frame, handles, and threshold. Wipe inward (clockwise) to physically and symbolically pull wealth into your home.

• Wipe Down Financial Hubs: Use it to clean your kitchen table (the center of household nourishment) and desk to invite continuous abundance.

• Multiply Wealth with Mirrors: Wipe down entryway mirrors with the spray to symbolically double the prosperity entering your space.

• Activate Ritual Tools: Lightly mist green candles, wealth journals, or crystals (like pyrite or citrine) to charge them for manifestation work.

Heavy Banishing Carpet Cleaner

Okay so this little spell ingredient certainly lives outside the box, but it is a fantastic tool to have in your witches apothecary. We all use carpet cleaner, but it can often be heavily chemical based and doesn’t help to heavily banish unwanted energies just pet odors (at best). So, here is a little secret trick of mine.

Think of this powder as a heavy-duty broom, that can clear out an energies from toxic arguments, bad news or heavy energies that simply won’t shake despite how much smudging you do.

What you need:

• Equal parts of Baking Soda (absorbs odors and negative energy), dried rosemary crushed into a powder (heavy purification), and a pinch of cayenne pepper (adds fire to chase away bad vibes).

How to Make: Grind the rosemary down as fine as you can using a mortar and pestle or a blender (or simply buy ground rosemary). Mix it thoroughly with the baking soda and cayenne pepper in a jar.

The Ritual: Sprinkle this powder onto rugs, carpets, or thresholds where energy feels stuck or heavy. Let it sit for 15–20 minutes to absorb the negativity, and then vacuum or sweep it up. As you empty the vacuum or trash, intend that the heavy energy is gone for good. Do not let this powder sit inside your vacuum, we don’t need to turn it into a sitting vessel of negative energy!

If you’re using it on white carpets, give it a quick discrete patch test beforehand to make sure it doesn’t stain the carpet!

Four Thieves Vinegar (The Psychic Disinfectant)

Okay, I cannot take credit for this one. Four Theives vinegar has been around for a very long time! It originated during the plague, thieves used it to rob graves without getting sick. In witchcraft, it is used for extreme spiritual immunity—to keep negative people, psychic vampires, and bad luck from “infecting” your personal aura.

What you’'ll need:

• Apple Cider Vinegar base

• Dried Rosemary, Sage, Thyme, Lavender,

• Crushed Garlic cloves.

• A Jar from your Jar collection ;)

How to Blend: Once again, it is simply a matter of throwing the ingredients into a jar and topping with Vinegar. Seal it tightly (put parchment paper under the metal lid so the vinegar doesn’t rust it). Then let it steep in a dark cupboard for 2 to 4 weeks, then strain out the herbs.

How to Use:

• Anoint the soles of your shoes with a drop of it before entering a toxic environment (like a courtroom, a hospital, or a hostile family gathering) to keep from absorbing the heavy energy.

• Pour a splash of it down your drains to clear out any stagnant, low-vibrational spirits hanging around the house.Block Energy Vampires: Dab a few drops onto your wrists or the back of your neck before interacting with draining people to keep them from feeding on your vitality.

• The Handshake Cleanse: Wash your hands with a tiny splash after touching or shaking hands with someone who makes your skin crawl to instantly strip away their energy.

• Win Legal Battles: Submerge legal paperwork, aggressive letters, or bills in a jar of the vinegar to “sour” an opponent’s case against you and weaken their power.

• Aura Reset Bath: Add four tablespoons to a warm bath (or pour a cup over your shoulders in the shower) to wash away a streak of bad luck, a nasty breakup, or heavy stress.

• Banish Troublesome Neighbors: Pour a line of the vinegar along a shared property line, fence, or apartment hallway to keep a neighbor’s drama from crossing into your space.

• Hard Reset for Crystals: Wipe down water-safe crystals (like Quartz or Amethyst) with a dampened cloth to deeply purge heavy energy that smoke-cleansing can’t shift.

• Warding Doorways: Spritz around window tracks and door frames to keep out both spiritual pests and physical ones (like spiders and fleas), thanks to the heavy garlic and herb content.

Hey Mystic Witches! Are you ready for the New Moon on the 14th? I have a feeling it’s going to be an emotional one!

This New Moon is slightly different to last months as it is landing in the sign of Cancer (My Moon sign is in Cancer, so I’ve already been feeling the energies of this lunar phase).

Cancer is notorious for being a little emotional so now is the time to create an environment where your nervous system is at peace. If you have been feeling like you’re filling everyone else’s cups instead of your own, now is the time to change that. Heart-felt Cancer urges us to trust our intuition and go to the places that feel like home. As every new moon marks an opportunity for new beginnings, this is your chance to bring profound peace into your life.

We often find ourselves going through situations that set our fight or flight responses in overdrive, especially right now since Mercury is still in the microwave. But it is important to note that this union between the New Moon and Mercury Retrograde (both in Cancer) is our chance to protect our peace while only entertaining relationships and situations that quieten our fight or flight response. To really play into the idea of what feels like home. Spend some time taking a second look at the relationships and situations surrounding you.

Who spikes your cortisol levels and who doesn’t?

Who and what grounds you when things get chaotic and out of hand?

Our emotions will inevitably be tested causing us to look deeply at ourselves and finally start pouring into our own cups (something we all forget to do from time to time). Surround yourself with the people that make you feel safe. Give make to those that are always in your corner no matter what.

I personally have felt the heavy energies this New Moon — Regan and myself got into a bit of a bicker over something silly. But by talking things out, listening to both of each other’s sides and being compassionate, everything ended with a hug and a kiss.

If you’ve felt disconnected to loved ones recently, now is the time to reconnect. Do something fun together- take your mum on a coffee date, play board games with your siblings or even host a dinner party. When we surround ourselves with those that lift us, we growth together. We create a tight nit scared circle where everyone has each others backs.

While the new moon asks us to reconnect with those that feel like home — it is asking us to disconnect with those that don’t. Protecting your peace is a form of protection magic, it isn’t selfish. As a witch, we have every right to protect ourselves from harm. I used to hate the idea of cutting friends off but the older I get, the more I'm starting to realize that it is okay even when I don’t really want to. Some people come into our lives to enhance it while others come into our lives to teach us a lesson. If someone is causing you too much stress, it is okay to put a pause on the friendship (if you want to). Boundaries are there to protect our personal space, you should not feel guilty for upholding them.

“To be a real witch, your altar needs to look like a moody, expensive Pinterest board.”

“If you miss the exact hour of a specific moon phase, you might as well pack it up and try again next month.”

“If your spell doesn’t have the right type of salt, you’re not banishing anything.”

“If you’re using basic, everyday items instead of hand-crafted occult tools, you aren’t doing real magic.”

BULLSHIT.

There has to be one thing within the Witchcraft world that really annoys me—the narrative that there is only one right way of doing things, and that to be valid, you need to buy the entire catalog of Witchcraft tools.

Don’t get me wrong, different ingredients have different correspondences. Mint for clarity and truth. Cinnamon for good luck and abundance. Garlic for banishing and curse-breaking. The New Moon is great for calling in fresh starts, etc, etc, etc.

But to say you need every single traditional altar tool (an Athame, a Wand, a Cauldron, a Grimoire, a Chalice….) and that you have to wait until the next full moon just to cast a basic money spell is actually insane in my eyes. It turns a living, breathing practice into a consumerist checklist.

Let’s rewind the clock to the 15th Century.

In 1488, England’s most famous Prophetess and Witch was born. Mother Shipton. A Yorkshire lass who had a way of predicting the future with terrifying accuracy. She predicted the Great Fire of London, the Spanish Armada, and even the creation of cars and airplanes all the way back in the late 1400s and 1500s. She was a Witch and a Prophetess through and through.

Yes, she may have had a cooking pot over the fire that resembled a cauldron, and she more than likely used basic divination tools of sorts. But what I know she didn’t have was a long list of exotic crystals imported from Brazil, a deck of Tarot cards (they were in Italy at the time, but hadn’t made it over to the UK yet), or a social media feed telling her she was doing it wrong.

She used what she had available at the time. Trinkets picked up at local markets, odd items of interest from her local forest—I’m sure she was a pretty stick-and-stone-collecting girlie just like us.

My point being, she didn’t have a flawless Pinterest aesthetic altar setup, nor did she care if Jupiter was in conjunction with Mars before she did her work.

You don’t have to buy every single fancy tool to be a powerful Witch. And you certainly don’t have to wait for a major celestial event to cast a spell.

A powerful Witch uses what is currently around her and turns it into one of her most potent spells yet. She casts when she feels called to, and she doesn’t need a flawless chunk of Uruguayan Amethyst just to calm her energy down.

So, today, witches, I want to open your eyes to practicing successful, raw Witchcraft with the exact items lying around you right now as you’re reading this.

Let’s take your pencil case, for example. What inside that case represents a wand? A pencil. It’s made of wood, it channels direction, and it contains graphite. Wood is a given when it comes to showing a likeness to a wand, but graphite? Did you know its spiritual symbolism represents transformation, eternal energy, and grounding? It’s kind of perfect if you think about it—and it’s the exact same shape. Wands are purely for directing energy and intention during spellwork, but they don’t have to be pretty and aesthetic to get the job done. A basic HB pencil gets it done just as well.

When we shift our perspective to see the magic in the everyday rather than in the places only modern trends tell us magic is allowed to be found, we realize just how easily we can incorporate mundane objects into our practice.

Take these as examples:

Witchcraft doesn’t require you to break the bank to be able to manifest your dream life. You don’t have to wait until the planets are fully aligned to call in extra cash from the Universe. Witchcraft is based on using what is around you and in nature to call in what you desire. Don’t get me wrong, we all love adding to our crystal collection, but it isn’t necessary to level up your practice. What levels up your practice, is finding the magic in the mundane and connecting to things around you. Trusting in yourself and your intuition.

You don’t have to wait until a particular moon phase to cast a spell, if you don’t want to. Yes, it can help but if you have an urge to cast a spell on a random Tuesday after work at 6:14pm, cast the spell. There is a reason why you’re being called to do it at that moment in time. Your spells work a lot better when you act on your urges instead of fighting them and waiting until the next Full Moon.

Tap into your childhood imagination, go on a treasure hunt within your home and see what you can use within your practice.

• Birthday candles for quick spells

• Safety pins for locking in intentions

• Saucepans to replace cast iron cauldrons

• A Toothpick used exactly like a traditional coffin nail to aggressively pin down an intention and freeze a toxic situation

Honestly, I could go on and on.

When we tune into ourselves and what’s readily available around us, we take our Witchcraft practice to a deeper level. We connect with objects that having meaning to us, and we stop seeking outside validation for our craft.

The truth is, magic isn’t about what you can buy; it’s about how cleanly you can direct your own focus. When you stop looking for your power in a crystal shop and start recognizing the tools already sitting on your desk, the entire game changes. You stop waiting for the “perfect moment” and you start creating it.

If you look back at how we played as children—making mud potions in plastic cups, drawing our future lives on a scrap piece of paper, and whispering wishes to the moon—we didn’t have a credit card. We just used our imagination and whatever was lying around on the floor. The power was never in the objects; it was always in us.

1. The Stapled Success Spell (For binding an opportunity)

• What you need: A stapler and a printout of a job listing, a business goal, or a picture of something you want to call in.

• The Action: Fold the paper toward you three times to draw the energy in. Take your stapler, press it firmly into the center of the paper, and punch down hard. As the metal wire drives through the pages, visualize that opportunity being permanently locked into your current timeline. Keep the paper in your desk drawer until it manifests.

2. The Ice Tray Banishing (To freeze out negative energy)

• What you need: A strip of paper, a pen, water, and an ice cube tray.

• The Action: Write down the specific toxic habit, anxiety, or obstacle that is draining your energy onto the strip of paper. Roll it up tight, place it into an empty slot in your ice cube tray, and fill it with water. Put it in the freezer. As the water freezes solid, visualize that situation losing all its momentum and being completely paralyzed from impacting your life.
