I hope everyone is having a great summer! I’m in serious denial about the end. That being said, fall/holiday season is coming and I have some decisions to make about stock, what to keep making, what to retire. I also have to make some room in this tiny studio of mine. So I’m going to have an end of summer sale next weekend. Initially, I said this weekend, but I have had zero time to prepare (I just got excited and announced it prematurely) so I’m pushing it back a week. You’ll have more to choose from, potentially some prints from my art show (TOMORROW!) etc. It just makes sense. As subscribers, you get a discount, it activates 8/28 at 8:00 am EST!

I just wanted to thank you all for being here! I’m going to be using this platform more now that I’m not in a painting frenzy with 2 major deadlines hanging over me.

In the past I have been in the habit of making and selling what I like only, not giving much thought to what you guys (or the general market) thinks or wants. While I think it’s important to make art that’s exciting, so not to burn out (more on that soon), I am also running a business and trying to be better at that part! So I’m going to periodically give you the opportunity to chime in on things. Like which designs you like best, what ideas are hot or not, etc. Nothing major- and no obligation, but I like this creative ecosystem of actually making things people get joy from and feel connected to, and I want to hear more about that if you’re down to share!

ANCIENT FUTURE

My first solo show!

As you may know, I did a big mural in 220 Salon in Portland Oregon last summer, and Arrin and I immediately gelled as creative soulmates. So tomorrow, Saturday August 22 at 6pm, I am having my first solo exhibition! Right in the salon, surrounded by the ladies I painted last summer, and hopefully all of you who can make it! I’d love to see you if you’re in town. Arrin has created a beautiful 80’s postmodern/ancient temple oasis that feels like stepping into my dreams, so for that alone, you should come.

I’ll have a super limited, special edition collection of prints available. Each comes with a series-exclusive coloring sheet, sticker, and certificate of authenticity. First come first serve! Any remaining will be available the next day on my site, but no promises there. Another reason to join us!

I’ll keep this brief because its hot and I want to get in the water.

The shop is officially re-open at 1am Friday morning 6/3. Its been a lot of work, although it may look similar at face value. Here’s whats new:

More print sizes and more affordable options!

The biggest shift! I have decided to do primarily all my own printing, cutting, packing, shipping, an everything in between, in house. This is a lot more work, but its fun work, it feels meaningful, and actually allows me to offer more realistic sizes at much better prices. I still have the large format giclee collector prints, but not everyone is working with that wall space or budget, so I now have smaller tiers, and they will include a certificate of authenticity, a complimentary sticker or two, and whatever else I may throw in on a whim. I want you to be excited to open your package, and doing this all takes a lotttt of overhead out of the picture. I’m having a lot of fun with this, and I hope it will make my art more accessible. Yay.

Mystery Packs

I make a shit ton of mistakes, so I have a lot of beautiful artwork thats just slightly off. Odd cuts, colorways I didn’t end up going with, designs I ended up scrapping etc. I now have two sizes of Mystery Packs available. I may niche these down so you can even choose a theme, but for now its a total grab bag. I can promise everything is cool though. Objectively.

Sticker Packs

I was shocked to discover people go absolutely batshit for stickers. At the last street fair I vended at, this was one of my best sellers. Had I known, I would have come more prepared, but now I do know, and I’m moving accordingly. These are so fun to make Will def be adding more in the coming weeks so check back.

Stationery

I’ll admit I’m both resisting this and also super into it. I personally am obsessed with stationery and have to put restrictions on myself in stationery stores. I have a huge eraser collection for some reason. I feel a passion for pens that I can’t feel for pretty much anything else in life. But I don’t know- I still have this weird tape playing in the back of my head that its pedestrian or something. Which isnt even a bad thing. Its left over art school messaging that I’m supposed to be a gallery artist, I think. But I’m not a gallery artist, nor do I want to be, and I genuinely like making things with my hands. So this will be a developing story probably. But I think we already know whats going on here. I’ll prob be making lots of weird, cool stationery.

I dipped my toe in and made a notepad for The Woman (more on her next post) and I’m kind of hooked. stay tuned.

The Radio

Three things I love, a radio, a telephone, and a cigarette (in theory) So I finally took the plunge and got a soundcloud account rolling. I need to say goodbye to Spotify and embrace the radio show/mixtape format. Thats where my millenial heart lives anyway. I named it 94.3 The WOMAN, which is not a real station at all, but I can do whatever I want on my internet. Excited to share, this has been really fun! I’ll send the link in the next email, which will be dedicated to THE WOMAN.

I’m already getting annoyed pre-planning everthing. The beauty of running this biz from my house now is that I can make things on a whim and roll with it. I work much better this way, and I’m going to let it happen. Check back often! There will always be something new.
