I am lucky enough to live in one of the most magical places on earth. The ancient hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains are home to the world famous Monroe Institute, Yogaville which hosts the only shrine in the world dedicated to all major religions, as well as The Department of Perceptual Studies at the University of Virginia, just to name a few. This specific department at UVA, affectionally nicknamed “DOPS,” is a scientific research group devoted to the rigorous evaluation of empirical evidence for extraordinary human experiences and capacities. I am also lucky enough to call Dr. Marieta Pehlivanova of DOPS a friend, and this episode is full of her professional and personal insight on the near-death experience. It isn’t often that you are able to capture this kind of perspective from someone on a topic like this. There has been a long-time division in our culture between the heart and the mind. Yet Marieta has studied numerous NDE cases at the most prestigious university in the state, and her prolific academic knowledge combined with her personal spiritual insight create a balance and unification of this rift that is nothing short of healing.

Marieta Pehlivanova, Ph.D., is a Research Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia’s Division of Perceptual Studies. She earned her Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology with a focus in Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania. Her research explores near-death experiences, children’s reports of past-life memories, after-death communications, and the personality and cognitive factors associated with psi beliefs and experiences. Before joining UVA, she worked as a biostatistician in health research. She has presented her work nationally on near-death experiences, survival research, and best practices for supporting people who report spiritually transformative experiences.

Seeking the Eternal, with Timothy Lofing

When I was a twenty-something, running around Brooklyn NY, auditioning for commercials with my cat eyes, red lip, and skinny jeans, I never would have guessed that 15 years later, I would be interviewing my old actor friend about his near-death experience, and his full on encounter with God. These were not things we talked about then, or even acknowledged to be real. But so far my life has been nothing but surprises, and I am here for it. Timothy describes his previous self as a lukewarm Christian, who followed his faith in a transactional way. But when he was rushed to the ER last year due to a sudden stroke, his consciousness left this world as the surgeons were performing emergency surgery. What he experienced has changed him forever. When you survive death, you are born again, and as he shares his story, this newness radiates with every word he speaks. It’s the same newness that comes from an infant, or a child, or anyone who has just came from beyond the veil to return with the gift of pure, unconditional, love.

Timothy Lofing was born and raised in Montana. He is an independent producer and director working in New York City and across the United States. He has worked in the commercial, film, and television market from the age of 18. His clients cover the commercial, television, film, and streaming markets working with CBS, ABC, Netflix and companies such as Pfizer, Google, Lincoln, Mercedes, L'Ore'al, Ruby Tuesdays, Adidas, Nike, and many more. A Conscious Resurrection, with Evan Mecham, President of IANDS

When listening to someone describe what it’s like to die, it doesn’t matter how many times you hear it, you always leave the conversation feeling profoundly affected. The wisdom, love, and humility that permeate each word is undeniable, as some deep and ancient knowing begins to stir at the root of your being. I only knew Evan as an online classmate at Atlantic University. I specifically remembered him because of his natural ability to leave his fellow students feeling incredibly inspired when it was his turn to share in discussion. I was unaware when I reached out to him a few years later for an interview, that I was asking the newly elected president of the International Association for Near-Death Studies to come be on my podcast. Despite his new role and busy schedule, he graciously agreed, and with that was born a truly beautiful episode. This journey we are on that spans dimensions and multiple lifetimes- may we all finally experience a moment of pure rebirth.

Evan’s Bio:

Evan was an entrepreneur who built and sold several successful companies in the automotive aftermarket. He also served as an officer in the United States Airforce Reserve. Following his business career, Evan embarked on a new path of service, returning to university to become a transpersonal psychologist, minister, and spiritual counselor. He is trained in a wide array of modalities, including regression therapy, NLP, and Reiki energy healing. A published author of spiritually uplifting articles, Evan is also dedicated to his community, supporting the Buddhist Shambala Mountain Center and volunteering as a caseworker at the Fish Food Bank, where he counseled and mentored others. New Moon in Leo - Total Solar SN Eclipse

There is a blackout on the stage this month. It’s the moment of darkness, before the show begins. A pin could drop and you’d hear an echo. The fervor, color, glitter, and musical chaos of the band warming up, has all gone out like the flame of a candle. Every soul waiting with bated breath, wondering what is about to be born.

The Star

The God of the Sky, living in the world of the mind, sends the electric shock of innovation and realization through every other player on the stage. Aphrodite receives it with grace. She finds new ways to embody fairness, and compassion in her partnership. The God of Wisdom and the messenger god move downstage to address the audience first, stealing the show, and fully embodying their light. The Goddess of the Sea learns to navigate fire with water, realizing that her individuality is directly connected to her spiritual strength. Lastly, the most powerful of all, the god of death begins to churn his new found insights out into the collective, exposing and burning away all inauthenticity in his path, and alchemizing it into freedom.

Aries Rising - You are meant to shine your fiery light and express. It is time to reflect on the ways in which you give to yourself. On September 11th, 2001, Jenna Axelrod experienced true loss. After the towers fell, she and her husband were invited to so many funerals that they couldn’t attend them all and had to pick between them. At the time, Jena was a stand up comedienne and waitress, turned bond broker. Her world couldn’t have been more separate from the spiritual side of life, but perhaps these experiences have a way of finding you when so many of your friends suddenly find themselves out of body. Her story is amazing, beautiful, and a true testament to the notion that the unseen realities that our society appears to ignore, can make themselves known to anyone at any time.

Jena Axelrod is a comedian and filmmaker whose work blends humor, science, and spirituality. She studied for over two decades with Pari Center co-founder F. David Peat and regularly badgered physicist Basil Hiley about the philosophical implications of quantum theory. The Demon Healer, with Debbie Ison

This episode is one of the most powerful I’ve recorded so far. Not many stories are as equally bone chilling as they are beautiful. I was truly touched. Debbie Ison has encountered disembodied energies throughout her life, but it took many years and multiple life experiences for her to arrive where she is now. While Debbie is careful not to claim if she, or anyone else knows whether a perceived possession is a construct of the brain or an external entity, she is doing powerful, alchemical, spiritual healing either way. She is a primary school educator turned spiritual release therapist, and her story gave me reassurance. It validated something deep within me that we all desperately need to be true- that good will always conquer evil, and that authentic love is the most powerful tool of all. Of course this is not always the case on a micro level in the material realm. But on a broad, ontological level, this has to be the most fundamental truth that there is. There are no other options. I hope you enjoy listening to Debbie describe her work as much as I did. Her clients come to her with spirits of the dead, or possibly even demons attached to them. Alternative voices come out of their mouths, sometimes hurling horrible abuse her way. But she is strong and she is armed. What is her most powerful weapon in the face of such horror? The gentle compassion of a school teacher.

Debbie Ison is a full-time hypnotherapist who works with clients to overcome a range of issues. Debbie is trained in 13 different therapies, and she also trains therapists in Hypnotherapy, Past Life Regression and Reiki. Throughout her therapeutic journey Debbie has been called to work with clients who wish to explore their spirituality and heal through a transpersonal approach, something which has led Debbie on a spiritual journey of her own. Debbie now works regularly with clients to help them overcome issues that they attribute to past lives and the paranormal, providing energy clearances to properties and working with clients through Spirit Release Therapy to free them from the perceived spirits and entities that are causing them harm. Debbie has recently commenced her PhD studies in this area.

Aquarius Full Moon - Perhaps There's a Love

This Aquarius full moon on Wednesday is a special one. Rare alignments are taking place and inspiring us all to create a better future using our individual gifts. This moon is illuminating collective transformation. It is conjunct Pluto, the dark lord of death and rebirth. How can we embrace what needs to die in order to create a new world that values the lives of all individuals instead of the chosen elite? It is also opposing Jupiter, the planet of expansion and abundance, as it unites with the Sun! It is time to let yourself SHINE. If you have been feeling the urge to express yourself individually, in a way that is directly tied to this collective transformation and greater good, then you my friend are on the right track. Now is the time, and Wednesday is your day. (To find out how this affects you individually, click here)

As you set an intention to turn inward and remember who you are and what you are here to contribute, remember to look upon all that we are here to change with compassion. The structures are falling, the old world is dying, and each of us are here to fill in these gaps with something beautiful and unique that only we as the individual are capable of. Remember to look out onto this transformational time with love, even when it’s challenging. Love does not equate to condoning. It is instead a deep, and intuitive knowing that you as the individual are invaluable, and that the unfolding of events is happening exactly as it should.

Perhaps There’s a Love

Perhaps it is true that ‘love’ doesn’t necessarily have to mean ‘like.’ It can just mean compassion for all this is broken and joy for all this is right.

Perhaps there’s a love that is void from all judgment that isn’t searching for only the best. Perhaps there’s a love that doesn’t need earning or discounts you if you are a mess.

I think it exists in all of us and you can see it if you try. Like in the father who wasn’t sure if he wanted a child, then looked at the ultrasound and cried.

That baby did nothing to deserve or earn the unconditional love of her dad. All she did was come into existence which has nothing to do with good or with bad.

It doesn’t mean that we hold excuses or lose our discerning eye. It simply means that the light that guides us is also willing to cry, at the beauty of all of creation, every beating heart like that babe, is deserving of our compassion and of our humble, parental, gaze.

Perhaps there’s a love that allows us to hold the entire world inside our hearts, knowing that it’s all just a work in progress as we play our human parts.

Dear Truth Seekers,

I am excited to announce that Season Five will be launching this Wednesday, just in time for this magical, outer planet alignment, Jupiter cazimi, and rare Plutonian Aquarius full moon. If there was ever a time to express yourself individually in alignment with your cause, it is now.

My cause? To shine a light where we have been taught to look away. For too long we have been told to blindly believe in ideologies, or forced to inherit empty religious practices that have lost all meaning and depth through the decades. But the world is getting smaller, and in doing so the patterns are revealing themselves, and with that universal truths make themselves known.

One of these truths is that of the authentic spiritual experience. What are we here on Earth to do as human beings? It’s a question that haunts every soul lucky enough to be born and live. Maybe it’s not about branding ourselves with spiritual identities. I think it’s more likely we are here to remember something real, ancient, and endlessly mysterious, to experience it, and to know it for ourselves.

In this season, we have another lineup of amazing stories. A primary school teacher turned therapist who finds herself healing demons, a NYC comedienne turned bond broker who became an accidental psychopomp after 9/11, a powerful near-death experience story from the President of the International Association for Near-death Studies himself (IANDS), interviews with academic researchers from the Department of Perceptual Studies (DOPS) at the University of Virginia, and so much more.

Capricorn Full Moon - The Now

“My teaching is not a dogma or doctrine, but no doubt some will take it as such… I must state clearly that my teaching is a method to experience reality, and not reality itself, just as a finger pointing at the moon is not the moon itself. A thinking person makes use of the finger to see the moon. A person who only looks at the finger, and mistakes it for the moon, will never see the real moon.” ~ The Buddha

Tomorrow the moon swells to her fullest shape in the practical, masculine, ambitious sign of Capricorn. The sun, our radiant yang luminary, is currently basking in the mothering, feminine sign of Cancer, while our nurturing, sensitive moon, is shining in this archetypal fatherly sign. Capricorn teaches us how to create success for ourselves. It is a reality check, a CEO, and a dad who shows his love by working his ass off, year after year to provide for his family.

While Capricorn energy can bring a wealth of long-term success, it is quite paradoxical when applied to spiritual success. In the material world of linear time, we set goals for ourselves and work hard every day to achieve them. But if you seek spiritual healing, this mindset will only take you so far. There is definitely a benefit in allowing Capricorn to inspire you to be self-disciplined. If you can create a meditation schedule, set a timer, and sit on your cushion every day, you will slowly but surely see results. Capricorn is the turtle who wins the race, which is the perfect metaphor for authentic spiritual progress. But, during the sacred pause you have created for yourself, the liminal nothing that lives between the alarm bells you set on your phone, that is for surrender. That is for completely letting go.

Thus one who hears the word “God” does not perceive what is correct, but perceives what is incorrect. The imagined concept of enlightenment is not enlightenment itself. Once you have a thought about it, you are already attached to an external concept of it, or a perceived outcome, which is not the actual thing. Our spiritual ideas and identities, while they can be beautiful, are not spirituality itself. The tools we use to get there, the religions we create, the prophets, the scriptures, the tarot, the visions, they are all some of my most favorite things in the entire world, when used correctly. But they are only pointing to the thing you seek, pointing you back to the unimaginable depth of true simplicity, that can never be thought, and can only be felt.

Capricorn, Saturn, Kronos- he can get you there. You must open the gate.

The Now

Once you’ve imagined awakening, it is already gone, because anything other than what is right now will ultimately be wrong.

When it is imagined, it is a thought that is separate from you. It is a pretend, better you, in the future, a dream you have to get to.

But the only place that you can wake up, is in this moment right now. You may have goals, and that is all good, but it is the only way how.

Once you are done with your manifestations, just sit where you are and sense. Open your eyes to the beauty around you, and watch the magic commence.

We all wish for enlightenment, but a wish takes you out of the place where it is.

Just pause for a moment, and take a deep breath.

The Root Chakra - Muladhara (Root)

The Root Chakra is located at the base of the spine. It is also connected to our legs and feet. This is the energy center that infuses earth essence with our own. It is the stable ground we walk on. An out-of-balance root chakra can come from traumas related to the body, home, and health. A deficient root chakra experiences disconnection from the body, fear, anxiety, or poor boundaries. A root chakra in excess can lead to overeating, fear of change, addiction to security, or overly rigid boundaries.

Healing practices include reconnection with the body first. Physical activities and allowing yourself to be touched when ready. Psychological healing involves an examination of your earliest childhood relationship, usually with the mother.

Affirmations: “It is safe for me to be here.” “The earth supports me and meets my needs.” “I love my body and trust its wisdom.” “I am immersed in abundance.” “I’m here and I’m real.”

The root chakra is the energy center that connects us to the material realm. It is also directly connected to the crown at the top of the head. The crown is the portal for our consciousness. They are in relationship because the divine cannot become immanent without a vessel. What is consciousness on the earth without the body? How can we have faith if we live in fear? There are times when embracing the simplicity of our basic needs, our sensuality, and our earth-bound being-ness is the most spiritual thing we can do.

On this journey, the end is the beginning and the beginning is the end. What are we doing during meditative enlightenment? Simply being.

The New Moon

The solar king and the lunar queen join the hustle and bustle of life this weekend, managing, fixing, tasking, and all within the windy realm of words. The ideas flow through, the conversations flutter, and their curiosity takes them on side quests and through mazes, only to find themselves back where they started, newly edified.

The Cradle

Aphrodite, the god of death, the queen of the ocean, and the god of the sky have also come together, yet for them it is more of a dance. From an aerial view, in true follies fashion, they are weaving together a design that will radiate transformation with ease.

The sky god is in his element, swimming through the streams of consciousness. This inspires Aphrodite to express herself openly, allowing love to shine and shimmer under the stage lights and out into the existence. The death god is pulled into this magnetism, finding the flow of collective transformation easier, while the queen of the ocean blesses the entire dynamic with an ethereal, initiatory fire.

Ever since could remember, she always knew there was something more. Throughout childhood she wondered what it was that they were not teaching her in school, and what was inherently missing from her everyday life. This launched her into a lifelong quest to find out, and her story does not disappoint. Diomira has traveled the world, visiting many famous, treasured, ancient sites that predate antiquity, and without knowing a thing about the magic that lives there, she happened to find her holy grail in Glastonbury. This initiation then launched her into the next chapter of her life. She has her fair share of stories from attempting to navigate the shallow, play-along, culture of the New Age community. But inevitably, she began to remember the old ways of living, relating, and healing the land, the earth, and the very real spirits that call Gaia home.

Diomira Rose D’Agostino is a teacher of the Earth Mysteries, a soul path mentor and guide, certified flower essence healer, soul astrologer, plant spirit ceremonialist, and metaphysician. Are there actually ways of being that integrate magic, rationality, love, and identity? In this episode, I had the pleasure of interviewing Gryphon Corpus, who breaks down the stages of spiritual development to further understand the evolution of our own consciousness, as it is mirrored in the evolution of the collective. Sagittarius Full Moon - The Teacher

The sign of Sagittarius is the sign of the teacher. It wants to learn. It wants to know, and it wants to know what to believe in. It is a truth finder, and a morality seeker. But it is restless in a classroom, unless of course it is the one giving the lecture, because Sagittarius is here to learn through experience. It is here to travel the world, and absorb all life has to offer with a sense of wonder, freedom, and fun, so that it can synthesize all the data into one point on the bullseye of the centaur’s arrow. The dark side of Sagittarius? Dogma. Sometimes once it finds and hits that point, it can’t ever find the courage to leave when it is time. But an enlightened Sagittarius knows the truth is never rigid, that morality is tainted by absolutism, and that all good teachers always point their students back to themselves.

The Teacher

“What is it like?” asked the student, the one yearning to be free.“Is it perfect and happy all of the time?” The teacher said, “Listen to me.”

“Sometimes I stay there, sometimes I fall, but it’s nothing you can imagine. Yes, I was perfect, yes I was good, but no I was not saccharine.

You must understand that the rainbows you seek do not come without the pain, and being there doesn’t shield you, it keeps you standing in the rain.

But you don’t run because you notice that a part of you’s still warm, the heart inside that’s beating, it loves you through the storm.

And so then you walk around this earth through all the ups and downs, the only difference now is that your feet have found the ground.

But if you want to go there, please don’t try so hard my dear, just take a breath, open your eyes, and remember it is already here.

Bernie’s Bio:

Bernie graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in Wilmington, Delaware in 1960 at #5 Grade Point Average. He majored in Chemistry at Swarthmore College and was one of two outstanding pre-medical students. He attended Yale Medical School graduating in 1964. He did his one-year general medicine internship at Mount Zion Medical Center in San Francisco and then completed the three-year psychiatric residency at Stanford in 1974 after working in the U.S Public Health Service Hospital in San Francisco from 1971-1973 as the hospital’s psychiatrist. He then joined the faculty of the department of psychiatry at the University of Washington in Seattle. After ten years there he was denied tenure and then joined the faculty at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he became a world leader in the study of chest pain and panic disorder which led to his becoming chair of the psychiatry department. (A door closes, and a big window opens.) Building on his book The Structure of Individual Psychotherapy, he created the book Learning Psychotherapy which was taught to half the psychiatric residency training programs in the United States. In 2006 he started formal research into coincidences and then, in 2009, moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, to join the Division of Perceptual Studies of the University of Virginia, which supported his coincidence work as a non-paid faculty member. As a “recovering academic,” he led the development of The Coincidence Project.

Carol’s Bio:

Carol E. Richardson was born on the equator in what was then the Belgian Congo (now the Democratic Republic of Congo) and spent her childhood moving between Africa and the United States from 1958 to 1977. Raised by highly educated missionary parents, she grew up in a multicultural and deeply spiritual environment that shaped both her intellectual curiosity and spiritual outlook. Widowed at 28 after her husband died from a cerebral aneurysm, leaving her with two young children, she went on to earn a Master of Public Health degree and a Master of Divinity degree from Vanderbilt Divinity School. Ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), she served churches for more than 15 years before pursuing Eastern spiritual studies, including nearly two decades of Raja Yoga meditation and Kriya Yoga practice.

In 2010, Richardson experienced what she describes as an “Enlightenment Vision,” inspiring her current work as an intuitive life coach and healer in the Washington, DC area. A lifelong lover of science as well as spirituality, she leads workshops on meditation and stress reduction and created “Mastermind Stars: Master Yourself & Your Life” for children, teens, and young adults. She also speaks on personal growth and resilience, including her motivational talk, “Why Are There Ants in My Salad?” Her mission is to help people recognize their potential, connect more deeply with the universe, and live with greater joy and purpose.

Taurus New Moon - The Story in the Sky & What it Means for You

We are in the Garden of Eden, and it is the darkest of nights. You can just barely feel the whisper of a gentle wind as it dances across the faces of delicate flowers, quiet, innocent, and new. The solar king and his lunar queen are huddled together at the garden’s edge, a midnight meeting with the god of the messages, and also with the god of the skies.

Tonight they share their gifts and fuse their essence with the earth, to alchemically heal the wound of generations, before they step into the windy world of words at dawn.

First of all, congratulations to EVERYONE for getting through April, 2026 :) Here’s what to expect for May & June…

Aries Rising - This month starts a new cycle around your stability and resources. Conversations and ideas could arise in this area and sudden changes could occur. Intense healing could also be taking place this month around your personal self -perception. Pressure and responsibility are still at the forefront and will remain this way for a while. A new, more mature version of yourself is waiting on the other side.

Taurus Rising - Sudden changes or new ideas could sprout this week, especially when it comes to your own self-perception and how you interact with the world around you. You may also experience an unveiling of a wound around something hidden, dark, or spiritual. Continue to take your alone time when you need it and allow yourself to be responsible when it comes to self-care.

Gemini Rising - You may have experienced a boost in love, or finances this past month. Or perhaps just an upgrade in your personal style. This coming month, you are starting off with sudden ideas or thoughts that may involve topics that are usually avoided. Allow these conversations or new ideas to come to fruition. Hidden things do not do well when they stay in the dark. Any wounds involving friends or communities are also coming up to be healed.

Cancer Rising - This is an auspicious time in your life. Allow yourself to ride waves of success when you find them and be open to new opportunities that present themselves. New ideas, and exciting conversations could take place amongst friends, or sudden changes in your future plans could arise. Allow any old wounds around your career and legacy to come up to be healed during this time as well.

Leo Rising - Totally new ideas could spring up around your long-term career path this month. Let thoughts and conversation flow. Allow any old, outdated belief systems to die if they need to, even if it hurts, it will not serve you to continue to believe things that your new perception of reality does not support. Enjoy your alone time as well. As you sit with yourself, allow your spiritual experiences to support your new found beliefs.

Virgo Rising - Continue to enjoy blessings in your communities, allow your friend groups to expand in auspicious ways. Brand new thoughts and ideas could also emerge in regard to what you believe in this month. Let your ideas change if needed. Old wounds around finances, or generational trauma could also surface. Let them come up to be healed. Lessons in these areas will continue for you for the next two years, and a more mature version of yourself awaits on the other side.

Libra Rising - New ideas or thoughts are manifesting around shared resources, finances, generational traumas, or all three. Let these conversations be had and sudden shifts take place if needed. You may also experience a wound surfacing around partnership. Allow this to come up to be healed as well. You are continuing to enjoy successes and expansions in your career, let this carry you and support you.

Scorpio Rising - New thoughts, ideas, and conversations could arise around partnership this month. Sudden changes or ideas that could be exciting beginnings, or could be necessary to move on. Take care of your health this month as you are continuing to learn lessons around balancing your responsibilities with your physical bandwidth. If you do have the time, traveling this summer could be very beneficial and would support the new ideas that are forming around your relationships.

Sagittarius Rising - Be open to new ideas surrounding your routine and daily habits this month. Perhaps much needed changes are in store for you, and continue to expect blessings when it comes to intimacy, or possibly shared or inherited finances. Any pain points surrounding children, or self expression, may surface. Let these come up to be healed.

Capricorn Rising - Let yourself be creative. If you have a new idea, let it come out in any sort of artistic, self expression that feels good to you. If you have children in your life, talk to them, and engage them. Wounding and healing is in store for you around your family and home life. The next two years are helping you become a more mature version of yourself at home. Continue to enjoy blessings that are coming your way in relationships.

Aquarius Rising - This year your responsibilities may have increased, but with that a sense of purpose, fun, and fulfillment. This month, new ideas surrounding your home life may come up and conversations should be had. The way you think and process information is slowly maturing over the next two years. If this gets activated this month, allow the process to flow.

Pisces Rising - Brand new ideas may come to the surface for you this month. You continue to experience an abundance of creativity and self-expression, or for some of you, you may even be welcoming a new child into the family this year. The theme of stability may surface as well. Continue to face any fears you may have around resources, and invest in the long term, practical option.
