Boston Fintech Week brings together founders, investors, banks, and builders working at the intersection of finance and technology. Even if fintech isn’t your day job, it’s always an interesting window into one of New England’s strongest startup sectors.

🏙️ Boston Tech Week — May 26–31, 2026

Boston Tech Week is one of the biggest gatherings of founders, builders, and investors in New England, and it’s right in our backyard. Six days of events, conversations, and community across the city, with something for everyone, whether you’re an early-stage founder, a seasoned operator, or just startup-curious.

The full calendar is live and worth browsing, but here’s one we’re already excited about:

VisualBoston Live Build: Idea to Deployed App in 30 Minutes — May 27th, 3:00 pm (CIC Cambridge)

NH Entrepreneurs Slack community member Alec Harrison is running a free live build session where he and his collaborator take a product idea (or yours if you bring one) from sketch to PRD to a deployed app in 30 minutes. New Hampshire is the only state in New England that currently permits new nuclear development, and StarCube is at the center of that conversation. Shayla here. The Startup Summit is in the books, the calendar is filling up fast, and we've got a shiny new member directory to show you. Let's get into it.

UNH Startup Summit Recap

On April 16th, Paul College hosted the UNH Entrepreneurship Club’s first-ever Startup Summit - and it did not disappoint.

Our very own Rae Lambert moderated a fireside chat with Jillian Friot (CEO of Global Venture Network) and Jeremy Hitchcock (Co-Founder of New North Ventures). An hour of real talk and candid conversation about what building a company actually looks like, followed by a reception where students could keep the conversation going one-on-one.

Here’s what we heard:

💡 You don’t need as much money as you think. Too much capital can actually hurt you. It lets you avoid the hard question of whether anyone will actually pay for your thing.

🤝 Your network is your pattern recognition. Gut feelings aren’t magic. They’re experience. Surround yourself with people who’ve seen it before, and they’ll help you make faster, smarter decisions.

🎂 Bake your competitors a cake. Jeremy literally did this when Google entered his space at Dyn. Confidence looks good on a founder.

🔥 Pick one thing and go deep. If you’re working on fifteen ideas, you’re working on zero. Find the one you can grind on for ten years and go.

I’m finishing my sophomore year at UNH, studying Business Administration with an option in Marketing and a minor in Design Studies. It’s a newer direction for me, but one that finally feels right. Hey everybody,

Rae here. Feels like Spring is on it’s way and some fantastic events are coming down the pipe.

Community Spotlight: Bill Spellane’s Nuclear Innovation Coalition

One of the most exciting developments happening in New Hampshire right now involves positioning our state as New England’s nuclear innovation hub. Bill Spellane, through his work at StarCube (backed by Jeremy Hitchcock), is leading an effort to respond to the Department of Energy’s Request for Information on advanced nuclear campuses.

Here’s why this matters: New Hampshire is the only state in New England that currently permits new nuclear development — a regulatory position that makes it uniquely positioned to attract long-horizon investment and federal partnership in advanced nuclear technology. The opportunity goes beyond state borders. The ISO NE grid serves all of New England and ranks among the most expensive electricity markets in the United States. New nuclear capacity developed in New Hampshire could provide meaningful price relief across the region while strengthening grid resilience.

StarCube has launched a dedicated hub at newenglandnuclear.org/nh-rfi to connect businesses, organizations, and individuals across the advanced nuclear, legacy nuclear, workforce development, nuclear waste management, and clean energy sectors. If your company or organization wants to engage with this coalition and help shape New England’s energy and security future, the call to action is straightforward: review the DOE RFI at sam.gov and join the effort at newenglandnuclear.org/nh-rfi.

This is the kind of forward-thinking work that defines our startup community!

👋 Hello, I’m Grace Khokhar, a cybersecurity specialist focused on Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC), helping organizations manage risk and operate securely. I’m also developing a smart-device application to enhance candle formulation safety, combining technology with product innovation. As the founder of an empowerment-driven startup, I create handcrafted candles and self-care products, with proceeds supporting women and children in developing nations to build self-sufficiency and brighter futures.

At the start of the pandemic in 2019, I founded a virtual music school that quickly grew, helping students develop confidence and creativity through music. Outside of work, I love traveling, seeking adventure, and exploring local food experiences.

Hey everybody!

Rae here, we’re back from winter break and we hope everyone had a restful last couple of weeks! Next week Zack will share some reflections from 2025 but we’re already looking forward to a strong start to 2026 with a number of events in the coming weeks.

NEW: NH Startup Supper Club 🍽️

I’m psyched to be partnering with Zachary Morin (read his builder bio below) and the UNH Entrepreneur club to be launch the NH Startup Supper Club — this one feels especially full-circle for me for a few reasons:

• I get to spend an evening with local New Hampshire founders, operators, and builders (my favorite people) over dinner with an after-party at my place.

• It’s powered by DNNR, the dinner-matching startup Ryan and I have been building from our apartment in Portsmouth to help communities connect IRL (we’re launching in 40 cities this month).

• I’m a UNH alum (well, sort of, I went there for 2 years, but married Ryan and finished at UMass Boston — please don’t hate me)

• All proceeds are going to support the UNH Entrepreneurship Club. The club didn’t exist when I was there, and I love seeing it thrive now.

👋 Hey, I’m Zachary Morin! I’m a junior at the University of New Hampshire’s Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics, studying Finance, Information Systems, and Sustainability. I currently serve as President of the UNH Entrepreneurship Club, where I helped revive a sustainable business plan competition and turn it into an annual event that awards funding to student founders. I’m also the Director of External Relations for the Rines Angel Fund, working on deal sourcing and building relationships with mentors and angel partners.

I’ve previously interned at OneStream Software and General Dynamics Electric Boat, experiences that shaped how I think about operations, strategy, and execution. I’m passionate about connecting student entrepreneurs with real resources and helping grow a strong, collaborative startup community across New Hampshire.

👋 I’m Jason Syversen — hacker turned entrepreneur turned investor.

I started my career deep in the weeds as an engineer and security researcher, eventually serving as a DARPA program manager before founding Siege Technologies, a cybersecurity company that I led as CEO through its acquisition. Today, I’m a Founder & CEO of SportsVisio, General Partner at 10X Venture Partners, and I just joined as Partner at New North Ventures!

Across more than forty early-stage investments, I’ve loved helping founders navigate the wild ride from idea to exit — building things that matter and create lasting value.

I’ve called New Hampshire home my entire adult life, and when I’m not working with startups, I’m giving back through mentoring, philanthropy, and the occasional blog post over at cyber-son.com.

I’m the creator and host of Granite Goodness, a media brand sharing optimistic stories of progress, innovation, and problem solving across New England, proudly hosted in the Granite State.

I’m a lifelong New Hampshirite with a background in sustainability, social impact, and entrepreneurship — driven to share stories that inspire positive action and promote a rationally optimistic worldview.

When I’m not talking to optimists around New England, you can find me drumming, diving into pirate history, or doing homesteading projects with his nine chickens, two dogs, and one wife on our farm in northern New Hampshire.

👋 Hey everybody,

Rae here — you’re stuck with me this week while Zack’s at Money 20/20.

My husband Ryan and I have lived in a lot of places. I’m from Brunswick, ME, he’s from Haverhill, MA. We started our careers in Boston back in 2008 (me in finance, him in mechanical engineering). Then in 2012, after reading The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss, we moved to San Francisco sight unseen to break into startups. I pivoted to marketing, he to data science.

In 2018, we wanted to be closer to family but still in a major tech hub, so we moved to New York City. When COVID hit in 2020, we went nomadic — Portugal, Austin, Mexico City — before landing in Miami. Great weather, but we found it tough to build real community there, so we only lasted a year.

We’d always dreamed of ending up in Portsmouth, NH (I went to UNH and our first date was at Popovers circa 2007). It always felt like a “someday” move — until remote work made it possible. So we made it our home and startup HQ on the Seacoast.

And we’ve been loud about it. None of that “Greater Boston” hedging in our bios.

It took a while to find the local startup crowd, but now that we have, our community is growing fast — and it’s full of serendipity:

• Met my neighbor Zack Jones while he was walking his dogs and we eventually started this newsletter together!

• I put up flyers to host a startup meetup and Joshua Cyr showed up.

• Josh told me about a Thursday burger lunch at Press Room where I met Dylan Wheeler, who later introduced me to TJ Evarts and Jack Potvin, who then introduced me to Jeremy Hitchcock and Jason Syversen.

• Chas Sullivan showed up to the salsa dance class Ryan and I teach and mentioned he just moved from San Francisco!

• And one day in White Heron, I overheard someone talking about “Riverside” and “Descript.” I introduced myself to Troy Farkas — who later became our first DNNR customer.

It’s been wild to be part of this fast-growing ecosystem. From random encounters to real friendships, it’s starting to feel like the early days of something special here in the Seacoast.

So you can imagine my excitement when I got this DM yesterday from a founder in New York City:

IT’S HAPPENING!!! I immediately replied and we’re chatting this week.

Founders, investors, and startup people are getting connected here in the Seacoast and all across New Hampshire and people are starting to notice.

So my ask of you: Why have you decided to build in NH?
