Ethena is making its biggest push yet beyond DeFi with the launch of Ethena Pay, a self-custodial neobank-style app designed to turn its USDe synthetic dollar into everyday money. Built exclusively on Avalanche, the app combines savings, global transfers and card spending while offering up to 6% APY on dollar balances and as much as 10% cashback at selected merchants for higher-tier users. Users can receive fiat or crypto directly into the app, send funds internationally and spend through a Visa-compatible card, effectively packaging stablecoin infrastructure into a familiar banking experience. ENA rallied roughly 9% following the announcement.

The bigger story is Ethena attempting to move USDe from a primarily crypto-native asset into something consumers could actually use to save, send and spend money. The beta is initially rolling out across 48 countries, while major markets including the United States and European Union remain excluded for now as Ethena works through regulatory requirements. If stablecoin-powered neobanks can offer meaningfully higher savings rates and cheaper global transfers without forcing consumers to understand DeFi, products like Ethena Pay could become an important bridge between crypto infrastructure and mainstream finance. The challenge will be proving those attractive rewards are sustainable while successfully navigating regulation across each new market.

Robinhood Chain has exploded in activity just two months after launching, with the network processing a record 5.52 million transactions on August 30 and generating roughly $2.66 million in daily app revenue. That figure placed Robinhood Chain ahead of Ethereum, Hyperliquid, and Base, trailing only Solana. Much of this growth has been driven by speculative trading, with token launchpad Pons seeing roughly 22,600 new tokens created in a single day while Pons and memecoin trading platform GMGN accounted for the majority of application revenue. DEX volume has also surged toward $1 billion per day as traders increasingly migrate toward the new ecosystem.

Interestingly, this is not exactly the adoption Robinhood originally designed the chain around. Tokenized stocks and other real-world assets were positioned as its flagship use case, yet memecoins have quickly become the network’s dominant growth engine. Still, RWA activity is also expanding, suggesting the speculative boom may be helping bootstrap liquidity and users for Robinhood’s longer-term tokenization ambitions. While a single day of revenue does not suddenly make Robinhood Chain larger than Ethereum, its ability to attract this much activity so quickly is impressive and could establish the network as another serious battleground for onchain traders.

PONS ripped to a new all-time high above $0.30 after rapidly accelerating from around $0.07, with rising protocol revenue providing fundamental support for the move. Pons generated hundreds of thousands of dollars in daily revenue during the rally, with approximately $640,000 reportedly deployed toward PONS buybacks over three days. Roughly 80% of protocol revenue is currently allocated toward buying PONS and burning the tokens, creating an interesting flywheel where increased launchpad activity generates fees, fees fund buybacks, and buybacks permanently reduce supply. Nearly 30% of the original 1 billion PONS supply has reportedly already been burned.

The bigger question is whether Pons can maintain enough organic activity to keep the flywheel spinning. Integrations with Coinbase’s cbBTC and Chainlink CCIP could expand liquidity and cross-chain accessibility for tokens launched through the platform, potentially increasing trading activity and protocol revenue. However, Pons remains a relatively young protocol operating on the equally young Robinhood Chain, and its current 80% buyback allocation is not yet immutable. If Robinhood Chain continues attracting users and Pons maintains its position as a leading launchpad, the combination of growing revenue and aggressive supply reduction could remain a powerful tailwind for PONS. If activity cools, however, the buyback engine could slow just as quickly.

Revolut is officially joining the stablecoin race with EURR, a euro-pegged token initially rolling out to eligible customers in Denmark, Poland and Portugal before a broader European Economic Area expansion later this year. Although branded around Revolut’s ecosystem, EURR is actually issued by Stripe-owned Bridge, which manages the reserves backing the token. The stablecoin will be integrated directly into Revolut and allows European users to move euro-denominated value onto Ethereum and Polygon without first taking on the dollar exposure associated with stablecoins such as USDC.

For now, EURR looks more like a controlled pilot than a serious challenger to the dominant stablecoins, with just 374 EURR reportedly circulating at launch. The bigger question is whether Revolut can give customers a compelling reason to use EURR instead of simply holding euros or using established stablecoins. Still, with banks, fintechs and payment giants increasingly experimenting with stablecoins, Revolut’s entrance provides another sign that the on-chain money movement is becoming a mainstream financial product. If EURR can build liquidity and useful payment integrations as the rollout expands, it could help push euro-denominated stablecoins further into the crypto mainstream.

Grayscale has launched the first ETF offering direct exposure to Zcash, with ZCSH now trading on NYSE Arca following the conversion of the firm’s long-running Zcash Trust. The product gives traditional brokerage investors exposure to $ZEC without requiring them to directly purchase or custody the privacy coin. Grayscale is positioning privacy as an increasingly important crypto narrative as artificial intelligence expands the ability to monitor financial activity. ZEC has rallied sharply around the launch, while Grayscale’s trust held more than $313 million in assets immediately beforehand.

The timing is particularly notable given Zcash’s recent security scare. A critical vulnerability discovered in its Orchard shielded pool could theoretically have enabled counterfeit ZEC, although developers patched the issue and subsequently launched the Ironwood upgrade with additional supply protections. ZCSH therefore represents both an institutional vote of confidence in Zcash following that episode and another sign that crypto ETFs are expanding well beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum. If privacy becomes a larger theme as crypto matures, Zcash now has a significantly easier gateway for traditional investors to gain exposure.

Coinbase has officially brought tokenized U.S. equities to Base, launching blockchain-based versions of Apple, Nvidia, Meta, and Alphabet for eligible users outside the United States. Each B20 token represents a direct claim on a real share held 1:1 with regulated custodian Alpaca under Coinbase’s Abu Dhabi Global Market framework. Holders can self-custody the assets, receive economic benefits including dividends and stock splits, and trade them around the clock on supported onchain venues such as Aerodrome.

Perhaps more importantly for crypto, Coinbase selected Chainlink as the official oracle infrastructure for these assets, providing continuous pricing data that could allow tokenized stocks to function across DeFi lending, collateral, and structured-product markets. Rather than simply putting stocks on a blockchain, this model attempts to make traditional equities fully composable onchain. With tokenization gaining traction across Treasuries, private credit, funds, and now public equities, Coinbase’s move represents another meaningful step toward merging TradFi with DeFi—although access remains geographically restricted and the long-term regulatory framework for tokenized securities is still developing.

Crypto markets have ripped higher following the US Treasury’s decision to expand buybacks of longer-dated government debt alongside comments from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent that long-term yields remain too high. Bitcoin pushed toward $73,000 while Ethereum surged above $2,300, notably outperforming a US stock market that finished Thursday firmly in the red. Institutional demand also appears to be returning, with spot Bitcoin ETFs recording $517 million in net inflows—their largest day in roughly three and a half months—while Ethereum ETFs attracted $189 million, their strongest daily inflows in ten months. ETH’s rally has also been supported by declining exchange balances, with roughly 1.15 million ETH reportedly withdrawn from exchanges since early June.

The bigger question is whether the Treasury can actually keep long-term yields under control. Despite expanded buybacks and Bessent suggesting intervention could grow substantially, the 30-year Treasury yield climbed back toward 5.25%, showing that the massive bond market is not yet convinced. Still, the combination of improving liquidity expectations, renewed institutional ETF buying, and tightening ETH supply represents a much healthier setup for crypto than the market has seen recently. Should these conditions persist, Bitcoin could continue challenging higher levels while Ethereum may have an opportunity to test the important $2,500 region—but sustained momentum will likely depend on whether Treasury intervention proves durable rather than a one-off catalyst.

Bitcoin blasted past $68,000 after the US Treasury announced plans to more than double the size of its government debt repurchases, helping push long-term yields lower and supporting risk-on assets. The SEC has proposed “Regulation Crypto Assets,” its first major crypto rulemaking effort under Chairman Paul Atkins and a potentially significant shift toward tailored U.S. digital asset regulation. The framework would create two fundraising exemptions: a startup track allowing eligible issuers to raise up to $5 million over four years, and a larger exemption permitting offerings of up to $75 million in a 12-month period with additional financial disclosures and ongoing reporting requirements. The proposal also introduces a conditional safe harbor that could allow certain crypto assets to stop being treated as part of an investment contract once an issuer has completed or permanently ceased its promised managerial efforts.

For the crypto industry, this could represent an important move away from regulation primarily through enforcement and toward clearer rules for launching tokens and raising capital onshore. However, Reg Crypto is still only a proposal, with a 60-day public comment period ahead and potentially months of revisions before any final rule. Atkins also emphasized that congressional legislation remains necessary for a durable long-term framework, particularly as the Clarity Act faces a tight timeline in the Senate. Even so, providing defined fundraising pathways and clearer conditions for when securities obligations can end could remove considerable uncertainty for U.S. crypto builders if the rules are ultimately adopted.

The US Treasury is moving forward with regulations for the GENIUS Act, opening its proposed stablecoin rules to public comment for 60 days. The landmark legislation, signed into law in July 2025, is expected to take effect on January 18, 2027 and will generally require payment stablecoin issuers operating in the US to obtain an appropriate federal or state license. Treasury is also seeking to clarify when stablecoins are considered issued, offered, or sold in the US, while introducing restrictions around foreign-issued stablecoins serving American users.

However, Treasury and other regulators including the OCC, FDIC, and Federal Reserve reportedly missed a July deadline that would have allowed regulations to be finalized at least 120 days before the law takes effect. This creates the possibility that GENIUS enters force before every piece of regulatory guidance is complete. Nonetheless, continued rulemaking represents another major step toward giving stablecoins a durable legal framework in the US. Clearer rules could make it significantly easier for banks, fintech companies, and crypto-native businesses to build around dollar-backed stablecoins, even if regulators still have some homework to finish before January.

The CLARITY Act’s path through Congress is looking increasingly difficult, with Galaxy Digital cutting its estimated odds of passage in 2026 to just 10%, down from 75% in May. Prediction markets have similarly turned bearish, with Polymarket odds falling from a February peak of 82% to below 20%. The biggest problem may simply be time: when the Senate returns in September, lawmakers will have only a narrow window to resolve disagreements surrounding government ethics provisions, developer protections and stablecoin rewards before election-season politics make major legislation increasingly difficult.

Stablecoin yield remains one of the biggest sticking points, as banks argue crypto rewards could pull deposits from the traditional financial system while crypto firms warn that overly restrictive rules could suppress innovation. Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser still supports passing a strong market structure bill despite those concerns, illustrating that traditional finance is not universally opposed to CLARITY. Although the rapidly falling odds are clearly a setback, the bill remains alive with a September vote scheduled and substantial support from the crypto industry. Even if CLARITY ultimately misses the 2026 window, the increasingly serious debate around comprehensive crypto market structure suggests regulatory clarity remains an important priority in Washington rather than an issue disappearing from the agenda.

After years of “Tether FUD” surrounding the reserves backing USDT, Tether has finally completed its first full financial statement audit with Big Four accounting firm KPMG. KPMG issued an unqualified opinion on Tether International’s 2025 financial statements, the cleanest opinion an auditor can provide, with audited reserves exceeding liabilities by $6.814 billion at year-end. The review went considerably further than Tether’s longstanding quarterly attestations, covering its balance sheet, income statement, cash flows, transactions, systems, counterparties and supporting records. KPMG even physically counted and inspected every individual gold bar held by the company.

However, some important questions remain. Tether has not publicly released either the audited financial statements or KPMG’s opinion letter, meaning outsiders still cannot independently examine the work being celebrated. Additionally, the audit was conducted under AICPA standards rather than the PCAOB standards required for permitted U.S. stablecoin issuers under the GENIUS Act. Nonetheless, completing a Big Four audit represents a meaningful transparency milestone for the issuer of crypto’s largest stablecoin and addresses one of the longest-running criticisms of Tether. Publishing the actual audited statements would be the logical next step if the company wants to fully put the decades-old “show us the reserves” debate to rest.

The CFTC has invoked its emergency authority to order prediction market Kalshi to continue operating as New York attempts to shut down its event-contract business under state gambling laws. New York argues Kalshi operates an unlicensed gambling platform offering markets on sports, elections, culture and other events, while Kalshi and the CFTC maintain that these contracts are federally regulated financial instruments under the Commodity Exchange Act. CFTC Chair Michael Selig has argued that Congress never intended federally regulated derivatives exchanges to operate under a patchwork of individual state gaming laws, with the regulator warning that New York’s actions could disrupt Kalshi’s nationwide market.

The move represents a significant escalation in the broader fight over how prediction markets should be regulated in the US. Importantly, the CFTC’s order does not end New York’s lawsuit or establish that federal commodities law definitively overrides state gambling regulations, with previous court decisions producing setbacks for both Kalshi and the CFTC. However, the regulator’s willingness to use emergency powers demonstrates how strongly it views prediction markets as part of the federally regulated financial system rather than traditional sportsbooks. A favorable resolution for Kalshi could ultimately provide much-needed regulatory clarity for prediction markets and potentially strengthen the position of other crypto-adjacent financial platforms attempting to operate nationally under federal oversight.

Crypto card spending hit $759 million in July, roughly 2.5x the $306 million recorded one year ago, as stablecoins increasingly transition from crypto trading tools into practical payment assets. Nearly nine million crypto card purchases were completed during the month with an average transaction size of roughly $86. USDC and USDT now account for approximately 84% of tracked spending, while networks including Optimism, Solana, and Base are capturing an increasing share of the underlying settlement activity. Importantly, merchants do not need to directly accept crypto: stablecoins are converted into local currency at the point of sale while purchases continue flowing through familiar payment rails such as Visa.

Although $759 million remains tiny compared with the trillions processed by traditional card networks, the growth represents another meaningful step toward real-world crypto adoption. Stablecoins have already proven useful as dollar-denominated stores of value and cross-border settlement tools, but crypto cards give holders a relatively seamless way to actually spend those digital dollars in everyday life. If this growth continues, stablecoins may increasingly resemble a global digital banking layer sitting underneath existing financial infrastructure rather than an isolated product used primarily by crypto traders.

Robinhood Chain has exploded out of the gate, generating roughly $3.6 million in transaction fees during its first month and reportedly accounting for 38% of Ethereum L2 revenue in July. The chain has already attracted more than 420,000 real-world asset holders, $1.3 billion in TVL, and hundreds of millions of dollars in daily spot trading volume. Memecoins have driven a significant portion of early activity, but Robinhood’s support for tokenized stocks, stablecoins, and DeFi could ultimately prove much more important as the brokerage looks to bring its massive retail userbase onchain.

The early success also highlights an ongoing debate surrounding Ethereum’s L2-centric roadmap. While Robinhood Chain is Ethereum-compatible and settles back to the broader ecosystem, relatively little of the network’s revenue currently flows directly to Ethereum mainnet. Robinhood instead retains the majority of its protocol revenue while sharing 10% with the Arbitrum ecosystem. Nonetheless, the ability for a mainstream brokerage with roughly 28 million users to seamlessly introduce customers to tokenized assets and DeFi could represent an important step toward crypto adoption. If Robinhood can make interacting onchain feel as simple as trading inside a traditional brokerage app, its chain may become one of the clearest bridges yet between mainstream finance and crypto.

Bitcoin ETF demand came roaring back last week as US spot funds recorded roughly $853.5 million in net inflows across five consecutive positive trading sessions, their strongest week since mid-April. BlackRock’s IBIT overwhelmingly led the charge with roughly $694 million of inflows, while Fidelity’s FBTC added another $116 million. The renewed institutional buying comes despite several potential headwinds including the Coldcard security incident, uncertainty surrounding the stalled BIP-110 fork, and another delay for the CLARITY Act. Meanwhile, a surprisingly weak US jobs report has reduced expectations for additional Federal Reserve rate hikes, potentially creating a more favorable backdrop for risk assets such as Bitcoin.

Still, one strong week does not necessarily mean institutions are fully back. Bitcoin ETFs remain roughly $4.4 billion in the red for 2026, while overall ETF trading volumes remain relatively subdued. Nonetheless, BTC holding around $65,000 while absorbing negative headlines and attracting hundreds of millions of dollars through regulated investment products is a constructive sign. Attention now turns toward upcoming US inflation data and whether ETF inflows can remain elevated for several consecutive weeks. If institutional demand continues rebuilding, Bitcoin could have a much stronger foundation for its next meaningful move.

Uniswap has officially entered the launchpad wars with Pools.trade, a token-launch platform built on Robinhood Chain and powered by Uniswap v4. The product offers Instant Launches alongside four-hour Crowd Launches designed to reduce sniping and insider bundling. Every token launches with permanently locked liquidity, while the standard 0.25% LP fee is split between creators and an auto-compounding liquidity mechanism rather than flowing to Uniswap Labs. Traders were so eager that they discovered earlier smart-contract versions and generated more than $150 million in volume before the official interface went live.

This is a major strategic move for Uniswap, which can now control more of the token lifecycle, from creation and liquidity formation to discovery and trading. Its zero-fee model, established brand, and immediate integration across the Uniswap app, wallet, API, and third-party platforms could make Pools.trade difficult for smaller launchpads to compete against. However, the platform remains in beta, and it is unclear whether it will attract sustainable projects or simply accelerate memecoin churn. Either way, Uniswap has brought serious infrastructure and distribution into the Robinhood Chain trenches.
