You already know what the decision is.

You’re not confused. You’ve been circling the same thing since roughly June, and you keep telling yourself you’re gathering your information, and you are not gathering information. You have all of it. You’ve had it for a while.

What you’re waiting for is to feel sure.

So I need to tell you something about September before I tell you anything else.

September is not going to make you feel sure.

The month opens against a wall, cracks open in the middle, and then ends inside a fog so specific I can name the exact planet causing it and tell you what degree it’s sitting at. If your plan was to wait for the picture to clear and then move, September hands you the cruelest version of that plan: the clarity shows up mid-month and then dissolves again right at the end, on the exact day you were expecting everything to finally make sense.

Let me break it down for you. And I’m going to translate everything as I go, because I am not interested in you feeling unsure and confused in your own chart.

The first, the thing that makes this a reading instead of a horoscope

Quick lesson. Four seconds. It runs through everything below.

Your chart ruler is the planet that runs your entire chart. You find it by taking your rising sign and asking which planet owns it:

For example, I am a Taurus rising, so Venus is my chart ruler.

That planet is you, walking around the sky. Wherever it goes, you go. Whatever happens to it is happening to you.

This is the difference between a horoscope and a reading and almost nobody does it. Every forecast on the internet this month will tell you what the New Moon is doing. Almost none of them will tell you what YOUR planet is doing while the New Moon happens.

And September is unusual, because there are three rising signs that have their own ruler as the actual headline of the month.

If you’re Aquarius rising, your ruler stops dead in the sky on the 10th. If you’re Pisces rising, your ruler is sitting inside the Full Moon on the 26th, close enough to touch it. If you’re Capricorn rising, your ruler IS the wall on the 1st.

Those three signs are going to feel this month in their body. Everyone else feels it in one specific room/house of their life, and below the line I’ll tell you exactly which one.

The energy of the month is: the wall, the door, and the fog

THE WALL lands on September 1.

Mars in Cancer squares Saturn retrograde in Aries, exact on the 1st. Both sitting at 13 degrees, which is about as clean as a square gets.

Translation, Mars is what you want and how hard you’ll push for it.

In Cancer, it pushes sideways. Through caretaking, through anticipating what people need, through doing it for them instead of asking for yourself.

Saturn is the wall. The ceiling, the rule, the contract you signed before you could read: be good, be useful, don’t be a problem. Retrograde means it’s a wall you built yourself and then forgot you built it, and can remove it.

A square is friction which means it’s not a catastrophe. It’s friction. Two planets stuck in a room together with incompatible agendas and ideas.

What it actually feels like: you push and it doesn’t land. You ask and it comes out too soft, or you don’t ask at all and then quietly resent that nobody offered. Something you thought was handled turns out not to be handled. Somebody needs a boundary from you and you’re exhausted before you can even get it out.

Now here’s the part that makes this useful instead of just annoying.

On August 31, one day earlier, Jupiter in Leo trined that same Saturn. Also at 13 degrees. Jupiter is the planet of expansion, of things getting bigger, of luck riding on the bold. A trine is a green light.

So the actual energy is asking this: expand, then hit the wall. In that order. One day apart.

That’s not the sky punishing you. That’s the sky saying the size of the thing you want is correct and the structure underneath it is not. Jupiter says build it bigger. Saturn says not like that.

Then we have THE DOOR. September 10.

The day of the month. Four things happen inside about twenty hours, and most forecasts you read will mention only one of them.

Venus enters Scorpio early in the morning. Desire stops being polite.

Mercury enters Libra, midday. You start finding words for something you’ve been carrying in silence.

Uranus stations retrograde at 5 degrees Gemini, minutes later.

New Moon at 18 degrees Virgo, late that night.

Four separate rooms of your life, activated on the same day.

Uranus is the breakthrough planet, the part of you wired to break the mold and say the thing you have been thinking. It’s been in Gemini kicking over how you think, talk, learn, and communicate. On the 10th it stops and turns around.

A retrograde is not a cancellation. It’s actually a redo. And a station, where a planet stands completely still in the sky, is the loudest a planet ever gets. It presses on one exact degree for days.

So the question stops being “what should I change” and becomes “who am I actually turning into, and do I like them?”

On the New Moon, which is a beginning: it’s in Virgo, and Virgo is not the sign of the vision board. Virgo is the sign of the specific. This is the New Moon for the unglamorous decision. The schedule. The number. The system. The thing you’d rather not deal with, partly because it’s boring and mostly because admitting it needs dealing with is worse.

And here’s the tension inside the 10th:

Venus in Scorpio wants depth and truth.

Mercury in Libra wants harmony and the version of the sentence everybody can live with.

Those two are pulling against each other, in the same twenty-hour window, on the day you’re supposed to begin something.

You are going to feel the pull to say the diplomatic version.

Venus is going to know it wasn’t true.

THE FOG. September 26.

Everything builds toward the Aries Full Moon on the 26th. Full Moons are culminations. Something comes full circle, gets said, gets finished, gets seen.

Except.

This Full Moon is conjunct Neptune.

The Moon lands at 3 degrees and 37 minutes of Aries. Neptune is sitting at roughly 3 degrees of Aries, retrograde. They are about half a degree apart, which in astrology is basically sharing a chair.

I have not seen one September forecast mention this, and it inverts the entire meaning of the date.

Neptune is the fog and the faith. It dissolves things. It’s idealization, the story that’s slightly kinder than the facts, the person you’ve decided is wonderful before they’ve done anything to earn it. It’s also where the real download comes through, which is exactly what makes it so hard to tell the difference.

A Full Moon conjunct Neptune is a culmination you cannot see clearly. The feeling is enormous and the picture is smeared. You will feel like you finally understand something on the 26th, and there is a very real chance you’re wrong about the details.

And the Sun opposes Neptune on the 25th, one day earlier. Two consecutive days of genuinely poor visibility, arriving exactly when the month asks you to land something.

So here is the trap September sets, and it’s set specifically for you:

The 10th gives you the information.

The 26th gives you the feeling. And the feeling shows up with a Neptune filter on it, which means if your rule is “I’ll move when I’m certain,” you will read the 26th as “not yet.”

You will be wrong.

And you will not be more certain in October, because Venus stations retrograde on October 3 at 8 degrees of Scorpio. Venus retrograde is the one where old approval patterns and old relationships come back for a 2nd review. It happens every eighteen months. It is not the window you want to be renegotiating anything about worth, money, or love.

The decision window is between the 10th and the 25th. Before the fog.

You should have these whether or not you ever pay me a dollar.

Now look at the 12th through the 21st.

Why I’m so sure about this one

A few years ago Pluto moved through the 10th house of my chart. The 10th house is your career and your public name. Pluto is the planet that renovates by demolition. It does not redecorate.

It took the building down.

What I understand now, and absolutely could not have told you at the time, is what it was for. I had spent years doing what I thought I was supposed to do instead of what I was actually here to do. And every single time I got quiet enough to hear the difference, I would get up and go do the supposed thing anyway. Because the supposed to thing came with evidence. A plan and a lot of people who would nod at me.

The thing I was actually meant to do had none of that. It had a feeling in the morning that would not leave.

I say this constantly and I mean it every time: you can pray and yap at God all day long, but if you never get quiet, how exactly are you planning to hear the answer? Receive first. Then move.

What nobody tells you is the second half.

What you receive never arrives with evidence attached. It shows up naked. No proof, no plan, nobody nodding. And then you have to decide whether you’re the kind of woman who can act on something she cannot see or defend yet.

That is what September is asking. Not recklessness. One decision, made from the part of you that already knows, before the part of you that needs receipts has been satisfied.

Because the receipts are not coming this month. Neptune is sitting on the 26th making sure of it.

Everything above is the collective sky. It’s true for all of us and it’s genuinely useful.

But “Mars squares Saturn” is a completely different month depending on where Cancer and Aries live in your chart. For one person the wall on the 1st is career. For another it’s marriage. For a third it’s body. Same transit. Three unrelated lives.

Every eclipse happens in a zodiac sign, and the sign tells you what kind of thing is leaving. This one is in Pisces.

Pisces is the feeler of the zodiac. The sponge. The one who knows you’re upset before you do, who absorbs the mood of every room she walks into, who carries everybody’s everything and calls it love. I’m the house now.

My kid is being raised by an Aquarius, so she’s growing up in an air house. Here’s what that gets her. She can say anything to me. Anything. Which is the actual point of all of this. Not “look what my mother did to me.” That’s where everybody stops and it’s very comfortable there and nothing ever happens. The real one is that the house isn’t behind you. You’re standing in a new one and you’re the one making it.

Four days notice, after over two years together. The message fit on a lock screen.

What that actually means, if you’ve never run a brick and mortar: an empty treatment room. A service column full of bookings with nobody to serve them. Read that again. A recruiter does not charge for the hire. She charges a cut of the salary. Every year. Forever. That is the price of not knowing.

So here’s what I did instead, and it changed how I think about AI completely.

I wrote Claude one paragraph. Not about the license I need. About the woman I want. Who she is, how she treats a treatment room, what my non negotiables are, what I could spend, and how my calendar works.

It set up the hiring account I didn’t have. Wrote the post for the woman, not the license. Set the exact daily ad budget. Read my inbox and filtered every application. Asked the good ones a follow up question. Booked the interviews around my calendar. Then it wrote the questions I walked in and asked, holding my phone like a clipboard.

And it worked, I hired not one, but two esthetician and they start this week (I’ll be showing you how I’m also using Ai to onboard them in the coming days)

Everyone sells AI as a time saver, and I need you to hear how wrong that framing is, because it kept me from this for a year. It did not save me time. It did a job I did not know how to do. There is a woman you have met a hundred times who needs the entire world to watch her win. She walks into rooms like they were waiting for her. She cannot rest, because resting means the spotlight might drift, and if the spotlight drifts, she is not sure she still exists.

There is another woman who does her best, truest work where absolutely no one can see it. Applause makes her flinch. She feels most like herself alone, at night, with the door closed, and she has spent her life quietly apologizing for needing to disappear.

Some weeks I have to go looking for the story in the sky. This week it kicked the door in, and I need to tell you what happened Sunday night, because I have been sitting with it since.

At 8:46 PM Eastern on Sunday, the lunar nodes changed signs. If that’s new vocabulary, here’s the plain version. The nodes are the sky’s compass needle. The North Node is where the collective is being pulled, the growth edge, the assignment. The South Node is what we’re all being asked to release, the comfortable thing we’ve outgrown. They move backwards through the zodiac and they change signs roughly every eighteen months, which makes a node shift one of the few genuine era changes astrology has to offer. Not a mood. An era.

For the last year and a half the nodes have been in Pisces and Virgo. The fog and the fixing. Learning to trust the unseen while releasing the fantasy that we could perfect our way to safety. The one rule before you build anything

AI does not fix you. It scales you. If you hand it an inbox and no boundaries, it will say yes to everything in your name, faster than you ever could, and you will have automated the exact person you are trying to stop being. So we do not start with the tech. We start with you. You are going to write down who you are first, and then the machine runs that.

You will need a Claude account and about an hour. That is the whole tech stack. No code, I promise.

Step 1. Write your three source documents

Open a blank doc for each. These are the brain of your agent.

1. The Voice File. How you actually talk. Paste in five emails or captions you are proud of. Add ten phrases you say and five you would never say. This is what stops it from sounding like a robot.

2. The Boundary File. What you will do, what you will not, and who gets what. For example: I answer client questions warmly. I do not give free coaching over email. Refund requests after thirty days get a kind no. Anything about a partnership gets forwarded, not answered.

3. The Business File. Your offers, your prices, your most common questions and the way you like to answer them. The stuff you retype forty times a week.

Step 2. Create the agent in Claude

In Claude, create a new Project. A Project is just a saved space with permanent instructions and its own knowledge. Paste this into the instructions, and edit the bracketed parts:

You are my Chief of Staff. You draft email replies in my exact voice for me to approve. You never send anything yourself. You always hold my boundaries, even when a reply would be easier or kinder to send. When an email falls outside what I handle, you do not answer it, you tell me to forward it to [my manager / my VA] and you draft that handoff. You match the voice, boundaries, and business rules in the documents I have given you. When you are unsure, you ask me one short question instead of guessing.

Step 3. Give it your knowledge

Upload your three documents into the Project knowledge. That is the no code version of training. The agent now knows your voice, your lines, and your business, permanently, in every chat.

Step 4. Test it on five real emails

Paste in five emails from your actual inbox, the messy ones, the ones you have been avoiding. Read what it drafts. Where it sounds off, do not just fix the reply. Go back and fix the file. Add the missing boundary. Add the phrase it got wrong. You are not correcting it once. You are teaching it forever.

Step 5. Use it every morning

Now the loop is simple. Paste the email in. Get back a reply in your voice that holds your line. Skim it, approve it, send it. The thing you used to lie awake doing is now a ten minute pass with coffee. And the best part is that it says the no you could never say, because you wrote the no down once when you were calm, instead of caving in the moment when you were scared.

Then you do it again, twice

Your web designer is the same five steps, with different knowledge. Instead of your inbox, you feed it your brand and your site, and you ask it to draft and update pages. 2. You need three things: your birth date, your birth city, and your exact birth time — off your birth certificate. Without it you only get signs, and signs are the accent, not the headline.

3. Find two glyphs. Saturn is ♄ — a lowercase “h” with a little cross/sickle.

   Uranus is ♅ — a circle with a vertical antenna.

   

   

4. Read the house each one sits in. The house is the where — the area of life. This is the part that matters most.

I‘m going to ask you to do something annoying. It will take 20 minutes spread across seven days. It is the highest-leverage thing I have ever done for my business, my marriage, and my Sunday nights.

I want you to log every yes you give for one week. That’s it. Then I want you to look at the pattern.

I know that sounds basic. I know “track your yeses for a week” sounds like the kind of advice you’d skim past on a productivity Substack and never do. I’m asking you to do it anyway. Because here is what I found when I did it:

73% of my yeses in a normal week were not actually decisions. They were defaults. I had said yes before I was awake enough to be asked.

Below is the exact framework. Print it if you need to. Or screenshot the categories. The point is to capture, not to optimize.

The framework

Every time you say yes to something this week — in person, over text, on a call, in a DM, in an email, on a Slack thread, anywhere — write it down within five minutes.

Use these four columns:

What I said yes to To whom Category What it cost

Yeses count if any of these are true:

• You accepted a meeting/call/coffee

• You took on a task that wasn’t already yours

• You agreed to “just take a look at” something

• You let someone reschedule onto your better day

• You replied “sure!” / “happy to!” / “love it!” to anything

• You said “no problem” when there was, in fact, a problem

• You silently took the smaller portion / the worse seat / the longer drive

Yeses also count if they happened in your head — if you decided to say yes to your child’s request before they finished asking. Don’t only log the verbal ones. Most of the most expensive yeses are pre-verbal.

The four categories are non-negotiable. You will be tempted to add a fifth. Don’t.

The four categories

1. MEANT IT.

You said yes. You felt clean about it. You’d say it again. The thing felt like a yes in your body before it was a yes in your mouth.

2. REGRET.

You said yes. You knew within an hour, a day, or three days that you’d made the wrong call. There was a moment — usually small, usually private — where you wished you’d said no.

3. DIDN’T NOTICE.

The biggest category, by far. You said yes and didn’t think about it once. It wasn’t joyful. It wasn’t painful. It wasn’t anything. It just happened to you. This is the most important category to learn to see. This is where the people-pleasing lives.

4. WOULD HAVE SAID NO IF I WAS BRAVER.

Optional fourth category for the women who are ready. This is where you log the yeses you gave specifically because you couldn’t tolerate the imagined feeling of the other person being disappointed. If you’re not ready to be that honest with yourself in week one, skip this one. Add it back in week two.

What it costs

The “what it cost” column is where the audit gets sharp. Be specific. Don’t write “an hour.” Write “an hour of the only morning I had without meetings.”

Be concrete about the trade. The yes always trades for something. The point of the audit is to surface the trade.

Examples from my own logs:

• “15 min — slack reply to a former client about her launch — this is the third one and she has never bought anything from me”

• “45 min — let mother-in-law book the only Thursday morning I had for deep work this month”

• “4 hrs — agreed to ‘just review’ a friend’s pitch deck — I’m not getting paid for this and she did not even thank me afterward”

• “$0 — agreed to discount the program by 30% because she asked twice — this is the second time I’ve done this for a client at this revenue level”

You’ll notice the costs are not always time. Some of the most expensive yeses are revenue concessions, energy concessions, or — the one nobody tracks — attention concessions. Saying yes to thinking about someone’s problem for the next three days is a yes. Log it.

Day 7: read the audit

On day seven, sit down somewhere quiet with the full week in front of you. Do not analyze it before then. Resist the urge.

Ask yourself, in order:

1. How many MEANT ITs? Count them. Then count the REGRETs and DIDN’T NOTICEs.

2. What is the ratio? Most women I’ve watched do this audit come out at roughly 25% MEANT IT, 25% REGRET, 50% DIDN’T NOTICE in their first week. The DIDN’T NOTICE category is the diagnosis.

3. Who’s in the DIDN’T NOTICE column? Look at the names. Patterns emerge fast. Usually it’s one or two people you say yes to without breathing. Sometimes it’s a category — clients at a certain tier, or family members in a certain role, or one specific friend.

4. What time of day are your weakest yeses happening? Mine were almost all between 8am and 10am. I learned I had a yes-vulnerability window before I’d had enough coffee. I now don’t reply to anything before 10am unless it’s urgent.

5. What is the most expensive single yes? Circle it. Name what it cost. Sit with it.

That last one is the work.

What to do with what you find

Nothing, in week one.

I mean that.

The biggest mistake women make with this audit is trying to fix the yeses they discover. That’s the people-pleasing pattern wearing the costume of self-improvement. You haven’t earned the no yet. Your nervous system has to first be allowed to see the pattern before it’s allowed to change it.

Week one: see.

Week two: get curious.

Week three: experiment with one no per day.

Week four: notice what happens in your body when you do.

Don’t skip the seeing.

The women I’ve watched try to flip every REGRET into a no in week two crash by week three. The ones who let themselves just look — without pressure — are the ones who are still using this audit six months later.

The one thing I’ll tell you in advance

You will find one yes in your audit that, when you see it on paper, you will know immediately you cannot give again.

Maybe it’s a friendship that’s been net-extracting for three years. Maybe it’s a client who keeps asking for free strategy. Maybe it’s a family obligation that nobody has explicitly assigned to you but everyone implicitly assumes you’ll handle.

When you see it on paper, you’ll know.

Don’t act on it that week. Don’t write the email. Don’t have the conversation. Just notice that you saw it. Notice that you saw it on day five or day six, not day one — that you needed the data of the full week to make the pattern visible.

That’s the diagnosis. That’s the whole reason to do the audit.

You’re not bad at boundaries. You’re missing the data.

The audit gives you the data.

I want to tell you the part of the people-pleasing story nobody talks about: it’s not a feeling. It’s a body event.

For nine years, every time I had to disappoint someone, my body did the same thing. Stomach drop. Heat in the face. Slight nausea. I’d write the email three times. I’d schedule it for 11pm so I didn’t have to be awake while it landed. I’d take a Tums. Send. Sometimes I’d actually be sick after.

I assumed this was who I was. I was wrong.

On a Saturday in February, I sat down at my kitchen island with a cup of coffee, opened Claude, and built five prompts that have since reorganized the way my nervous system meets my calendar. I didn’t know I was doing it. I thought I was procrastinating. What I was actually doing was building the boundary tool nobody had built for me.

I want to give them to you. All five. In full. With the exact wording. Below.

A note before I do: these prompts work because of what you paste in, not just what you ask. The unit of input is one specific thing, a single DM you’re about to send, a single calendar invite you’re about to accept, a single yes that’s sitting in your chest. Don’t paste a week. Paste a moment. The granularity is the point.

Prompt 1 — The Yes Filter

Use when: A request has just come in. You feel the pull to say yes. You haven’t responded yet. Use this in the four-second window between “I should answer” and “okay sending.”

Paste into Claude:

Here’s a request I just received: [paste the message word for word]

Here’s what I was about to say back: [paste your draft response, even if it’s just “yes!”]

Read both. Tell me: am I saying yes because I actually want to, or because I don’t know how to say no? Be specific. Point to the exact words in my response that tell you which one it is.

That last sentence is the whole thing. Point to the exact words. It’s how you get past the platitudes and into the diagnosis. Without it, Claude will tell you what you want to hear. With it, it has to do real work.

Example output I got last Tuesday: “You used the word ‘love’ for a 45-minute call with a stranger. You offered Tuesday, which is your only morning without meetings this week. Three exclamation marks in two sentences. This is a fawn response.”

I closed the laptop. I did not send the email. I went and made another coffee.

Prompt 2 — The Fawn Detector

Use when: You’ve drafted a reply and something feels off but you can’t name it.

Paste into Claude:

Here’s an email/DM/text I’m about to send: [paste the full draft]

Read it as if you don’t know me. Look only at the language — not the situation.

Where in this message am I making myself smaller than I need to be?

Where am I apologizing for something I haven’t done wrong?

Where am I over-explaining a decision that doesn’t require explanation?

Quote the exact lines back to me and rewrite each one in neutral language. Don’t make it cold. Make it adult.

The reframe of “neutral, not cold” is what makes this prompt work for women like me. Most boundary advice tells you to be assertive — which, if you have a nervous system like mine, reads as aggression. I don’t want aggression. I want neutral. I want the kind of language a senior colleague who respects me and isn’t afraid of me would write.

That’s what this prompt gives you back. Every single time.

Prompt 3 — The Cost Calculator

Use when: You’re about to commit to something and you can’t tell if it’s worth it.

Paste into Claude:

I’m considering saying yes to this: [paste the commitment — meeting, project, favor, scope addition, whatever]

Here’s what I know about my current week: [paste calendar, top three priorities, anything else that’s true]

Calculate the actual cost of this yes. Time, money, energy, opportunity cost. What does this displace? What does it require me to skip, postpone, or do at lower quality?

End with a single sentence: “Saying yes to this is saying no to .” Make the second blank specific.

The “saying yes to this is saying no to “ line is the one that broke me open the first time I used it. I asked the question about a 30-minute coffee with someone who’d been chasing me for six weeks. Claude’s answer: Saying yes to this is saying no to having a slow Tuesday morning with your daughter before she leaves for school.

I had not been able to see the trade. The prompt named it.

Prompt 4 — The Boundary Rewrite

Use when: You know you have to say no but you can’t find the words.

Paste into Claude:

I need to send a no. Here’s the situation: [describe it in 2–3 sentences]

Here’s what I’m worried will happen if I send the no: [be honest about the fear]

Write me three versions of the no. All polite. None apologetic. None over-explained.

• Version 1: warm but clear

• Version 2: neutral and direct

• Version 3: a soft-close (declines without leaving the door open)

Use my voice — short sentences, plain English, no corporate language. No “I hope this finds you well.” No “wanted to circle back.”

This prompt is the one I use the most. I’d estimate 30 times a month. I have the three-version structure memorized at this point and I still ask for it every time, because the version I would have written on my own is always more apologetic than the worst of the three Claude gives me.

That’s the diagnostic. My worst no is still worse than its best no.

If yours is too, that’s not a willpower problem. That’s information about your nervous system.

Prompt 5 — The Pattern Mirror

Use when: Once a week. Sunday morning if you can. Friday afternoon if you can’t.

Paste into Claude:

Here are every yes I gave this week. Calls I accepted, projects I took on, favors I agreed to, DMs I said yes to, time I said I’d give: [list everything, no curation]

Look at the full list. Don’t comment on individual items.

Tell me: what pattern is this woman not seeing? Where is the through-line? What is she optimizing for that she would not say out loud?

This is the prompt that made me close my laptop.

The first time I ran it, Claude said: “You said yes to 11 unpaid ‘pick your brain’ calls this month. You said yes to 3 paid ones. You haven’t booked a single thing this month that benefits you specifically. You’re optimizing for being needed, not for being paid.”

I want you to read that line again.

Optimizing for being needed, not for being paid.

That’s not a productivity problem. That’s not a strategy problem. That’s a nervous-system pattern wearing the costume of a successful business.

How to use them, actually

A few notes from someone who’s been running these five prompts for six months:

Don’t run all five every day. Prompts 1, 2, and 4 are real-time. Use them in the moment. Prompts 3 and 5 are reflective. Use them weekly.

Save your outputs. Make a doc. Paste the most useful answers in. Read them back when you forget what you’ve learned about yourself. (I have one called “Things Claude has said to me that my therapist didn’t.”)

The prompts are not the work. The prompts are the interrupt. The work is what you do in the four-second pause they buy you. The work is going to feel weird at first. That’s how you know it’s working.

It’s not going to stop the people-pleasing. It’s going to give you 30 seconds of breathing room between the request and your response. Thirty seconds is enough. Most of the yeses we give don’t survive thirty seconds of honest looking.

What changed for me

In the first 11 days after I started running these prompts: the Sunday nausea stopped.

I want to say that quietly because I don’t fully understand it. I don’t think a few Claude prompts can resolve nine years of fawn response in 11 days. What I think is that the prompts gave my nervous system enough evidence that I had its back, that I would not let a yes leave my hands without checking with it first that the symptom downgraded from urgent to occasional.

I’m not exaggerating. My husband noticed first.

Every Sunday night for about three years, I sat down to clear the studio inbox.

Sixty messages on average. Some weeks, ninety. Most of them: “What time is the 9am class?” “Can I switch from monthly to annual?” “Do you have a sub for Tuesday’s reformer?” “Is my account on hold?” “Where do I park?”

I could answer every one in my sleep. That was the problem. They didn’t require me. They just required a person. And I was the person, every Sunday, eating four hours of my actual life to confirm that yes, the 9am is still at 9am.

I knew I was the bottleneck. I just didn’t know how to step out of it without breaking the studio’s voice. We’d built a real brand. The replies sound a certain way. I wasn’t going to outsource them to a VA who’d answer “Thanks for reaching out!” with three exclamation points.

So I built an AI project that sounds like me. Here’s the actual playbook.

The setup

I use Claude Projects, but this works in any tool that lets you save a system prompt — Custom GPT, ChatGPT Projects, Notion AI. Same idea, different button.

Inside the project, I loaded three things:

Twenty of my own past replies. Pulled straight from my Gmail sent folder. Real responses to real members. This is what teaches it the voice.

The studio FAQ. Class times, pricing, hold policies, refund language, parking. The boring stuff that gets asked every week.

A short tone document. Two paragraphs. “Direct. Warm but not gushy. No exclamation points. Sign off with — Jenna or — Southern Soul depending on whether it’s personal.”

That’s it. No fine-tuning. No vector database. Three documents in a project.

The actual prompt

When a member emails, I forward it to myself with one line at the top:

Reply in my voice. Reference any policy from the FAQ if relevant. Don’t apologize, don’t pad. End with my standard sign-off.

Then I paste the member’s email below it and let it draft.

That’s the prompt. Three sentences.

The result

The first draft is right about 85% of the time.

Of the 60 weekly messages, here’s the new split:

— 45 go out as drafted, with a 10-second skim from me.

— 12 need one small edit — a name, a date, a tone shift if the member is upset.

— 3 I write from scratch — usually the ones involving a hard conversation, a refund, or a member I know personally and want to respond to as me, not as an assistant.

What used to be four hours is now about forty-five minutes. The studio voice is intact. Nobody has emailed back saying it sounded off.

What to watch for

Two things, both honest.

One. The AI will sometimes invent policies. Last month, mine offered a member a “10-class punch card” we don’t sell. The FAQ has to be tight and current. Update it every time you change pricing or policies, or you’ll be apologizing for offers it imagined into existence.

Two. It cannot tell when someone is upset in a way that needs you. If a member writes a complaint, you still read it yourself. AI is good at first drafts. It is not good at repair.

The point

This is one small system. Three hours back, every Sunday. About 170 hours a year — a month of work weeks.

That sounds modest. It’s not. Those four hours every Sunday were the four hours I’d told myself I didn’t have for writing, for my kid’s bedtime routine, for being a person. AI didn’t give me more hours. It gave me back the ones I’d already paid for.
