When I was in secondary school, my dad gave me ₦500 to buy books.

On my way, I saw boys playing "Ludo for money".

Me: "₦500 is small, let me double it first"

2 hours later: `₦0`

Books: `Not bought`

Shame: `Maximum`

That night I told my dad.

He didn’t shout. He just said:

`"Son, the market will always take your money. But it will also teach you if you’re willing to learn."`

Today that ₦500 loss is worth millions to me.

Because it taught me: Don’t gamble with what you can’t afford to lose.

Moral: Expensive lessons are the ones we remember.
