wie schmöckt revolution als perfume?

A chemical is any substance with a defined molecular structure, everything you can smell, touch or dissolve is a chemical.

Where the word comes from:
From Arabic al-kimiya - the ancient practice of transformation. The same root that gave us alchemy.

In perfumery:
Every ingredient in a fragrance is a chemical. The rose absolute. The sea salt. The skin itself. Water is H₂O. Two hydrogen atoms, one oxygen. A chemical. The most essential one on earth. When someone says “full of chemicals” they mean: full of matter. Which is everything. The word is neutral. What matters is which chemicals, in what proportion, to what effect.

Synthetic

Something synthetic is created through a deliberate process, assembled in a lab rather than extracted from nature.

Where the word comes from:
From Greek syntithenai to put together. To compose. To build from parts.

In perfumery:
Synthetic molecules are often the most precise, the most stable, the most radiant. Ambroxan (the scent of warm skin), Iso E Super (cedarwood with depth), Hedione (jasmine’s light). Some exist nowhere in nature. Some replicate rare or endangered materials without touching them. Synthetic is not lesser, it is a different kind of creation. Intentional. Repeatable. Often extraordinary.

Natural

A natural ingredient comes directly from a living source: plant, resin, bark, flower, earth - extracted through distillation, expression or enfleurage.

Where the word comes from:
From Latin natura. The force of birth, the order of things, what grows without instruction.

In perfumery:
Naturals carry complexity that cannot be fully replicated. A single rose absolute contains over 300 molecules. They age. They have memory. But natural is not automatically pure and not automatically safe. Some of the most potent allergens are entirely natural. The word is origin, not guarantee.

Some naturals are also endangered. Mysore sandalwood (Santalum album) — one of the most beloved woods in perfumery - warm, milky, sacred - has been over-harvested for centuries. Agarwood (oud), Indian rose absolute, orris root: all rare, all under pressure. Choosing natural here carries a cost the earth absorbs. This is where synthetic becomes an act of care, replicating what is precious so the source can rest.

A great fragrance does not choose sides.
It chooses what serves the story.

this is the perfume i wear all the time, maybe you smelled it walking by, like nadija did last sunny sunday in marseille ;) thank you for speaking to me!

the first draft of the formula was created by me in summer 24.
many modifications/samples (trials & errors) followed...

freedom means to me:
living fully what is directly coming from the source,
without reformulated, diluted concepts through systems and people.
rules are for those who, for whatever reason, have lost their connection to the source. rules can be very helpful, like structure, discipline and so on, but can destroy and diminish life force and joy as well.

the question is not whether to follow rules, but whether they serve my connection to the source or whether they sever it.
