Dear reader,

When I think back to my early twenties, I think about what a miracle it is that I found my way to this moment — to a moment of internal and external stability, of deep trust in the universe, of getting to celebrate that I am walking and embodying my soul path.

I think about my first relationship after college, which was full of love but also toxicity that I could not grasp. I think about finding my way to therapy in the wake of it, desperate to understand why I was so sad — not only for love lost but on an existential level. I think about the friendships I had to leave behind when I realized I needed deeper connection than nights out drinking could offer. I think about stumbling through the path of self-employment because I knew I didn’t fit into the corporate world, but having no idea how to navigate the realities of taxes, savings, and paying myself. I think about knowing that a deeper, more magical and fulfilling life was possible, and taking one leap of faith after another to try to find it.

I had no mentors who could speak to what it means to live one’s sacred expression in the world. No one I knew could encourage me to bravely walk my own path. I got a lot of advice to do things like become a lawyer or investment banker, to find reliable stability. And, while there is nothing wrong with choosing those things if they come from a place of soul alignment, I was desperate for someone to tell me about the deeply creative act of living a life — the way that life is this beautiful blank canvas that we get to fill. The way that we will never be happy, no matter how much money we have, if we don’t do the inner work it takes to find presence, peace, and aliveness. The way that nothing in the world is more important than our relationships — to ourselves, to each other, and to the earth.

Through my own winding and magical path, I arrived at that understanding.

Home Economics is a spin on the term, which some of you may be familiar with, for a course that used to be taught in high school. Home Economics was where, not so long ago, many women learned how to cook and sew and do laundry — skills that many women came to reject because they rightfully wanted more.

Strangely, I find myself and many women of my generation coming back around to the joy and immediacy of these kinds of tasks: the strange pleasure of hand-washing dishes and finding the perfect stain-removing protocol; the satisfaction of preserving favorite clothing items by mending them instead of giving them away; the grounding force of making a home-cooked meal slowly and with love. In a time so overruled by screen time, what a joy it can be to actually be in our bodies, doing things with our hands (when it is our choice to do so).

And so, this course is about teaching some of those home-tending skills we have almost forgotten. But it is also about the skills and tools we need to tend our inner worlds — to have the strength, self-compassion, and resources it takes to build a unique and beautiful life. And then, to have the practical knowledge needed to build from that steady foundation.

I will be sharing resources and skills that I have learned over the last ten years of my adulting life, which has been filled with spiritual seeking, trauma healing, soul-aligned career building, and unlearning and relearning what it takes to have a healthy relationship to my own heart and mind and those of others.

I will be teaching:

• meditation practices and breathwork

• parts work and tools for somatic awareness and trauma healing

• practices for recognizing when we are triggered, moving energy, and taking responsibility for our own stuff

• attachment theory and how to tend our hearts as we move through romantic relationships

• visioning practices for calling in the lives of our dreams, and the practical tools we need to support those visions

• personal finance

• how to tend one’s home

• how to make simple, nourishing food

• nutrition and herbalism for tending to our moods and hormonal cycles

• how to know and tend our boundaries

This course is an offering of the mentorship I wish I had had in my twenties.

Life is complex. And building the life that we long for is a dual, inner and outer, process. Each month, we will be looking at both the inner and outer skills that we need in our co-creation with the great mystery.

Most of all, this course is a community-centered exploration of who we are — of our archetypal mythos, our essence, and what wants to be expressed through us in the world. Each month will be an opportunity to explore this expression and to be seen in it by a group of sisters. We are all on the journey together.
