I’ve helped people get clear on what they want to be known for, create offers that sell, build relationships, have sales conversations and turn their expertise into revenue.

I’ve watched clients go from $5K months to $30K. I’ve watched them sell $25K offers, and build multi six-figure businesses around their expertise.

Here’s what I have learned over time about creating revenue.

The platforms change, marketing strategies come and go. We’ve all been pitched a hundred different ways to get clients. But the thing that actually creates sales never changes.

There are a few things I’ve watched work over and over again, no matter what the business, offer or type of entrepreneur.

When you get these right the tactics become much less important.

HERE ARE THE 4 BIGGEST:

1. Get KNOWN For Something People Will Pay For.

One of the biggest challenges I see with experienced experts is that they know too much. After years of doing this work, you have more ways to help, more things you could teach, more offers you could create, and a deep understanding of your clients needs.

That depth is incredibly valuable, but it can make your business hard to understand. Put your energy into one offer with a result they want.

You’re not getting rid of everything else you know. You’re giving people a clear reason to come to work with you. Once they’re in your world, they can discover how much more there is.

2. Build The Offer Around What They WANT.

People buy because they want something to change, and the clearer that change is, the easier it is for them to say yes to your offer.

If someone wants more clients, don’t sell them 17 modules about building a business. When they need to turn their expertise into a premium offer, they don’t need to understand your entire methodology before they can say yes.

This is where experience can work against you because you see all the nuance. You know there might be twelve things happening underneath the problem someone brings you. That’s incredibly valuable once you’re working together, but they don’t need to understand all twelve things before they hire you.

Start with what they want. Build the offer around getting them there. Then bring everything you know into helping them get the result.

Sell them what they want, then deliver what they need.

3. Give People Enough Time With You To TRUST Your Work.

A lot of expers are struggling because potential clients aren’t getting enough exposure to their work.

A short post can get someone’s attention, but attention isn’t the same as trust. People need to hear your ideas, see how you approach problems, watch you teach, and have enough contact with your work to think, this person understands what I need.

That used to happen more naturally on social media. Today, organic reach is harder, feeds move faster, and much of the content we’re encouraged to create is designed to win a few seconds of attention.

So the question becomes: where do people go when they want more?

4. Give Your Expertise A Place To LIVE.

Your articles, podcast, audio, video, lives and paid content all live in one place, and people who want more can subscribe and stay connected.

You can take years of expertise, ideas, stories, frameworks and content and turn them into a body of work that leads to sales.

That’s a very different marketing model than constantly trying to find the next lead.

The fundamentals haven’t changed.

1. Get known for something people want.

2. Create an offer that solves a real problem.

3. Build trust.

4. Make offers.

BUT I also know exactly where I’d start.

I’d go all in on Substack.

I wouldn’t start by rebuilding my website or trying to grow thousands of followers on Instagram. And after making a Reel every single day for nine months, I can promise you I wouldn’t start there either.

Here’s the thing: I’ve already built a business from scratch once. I’ve been doing this for 22 years. I built my audience organically, grew a Facebook following of around 15,000, filled programs through my content and speaking, and for years had a steady stream of clients coming into my business.

But this isn’t an article about how I built that business. It’s about what I’d do differently if I were starting today.

I’d spend a lot less time trying to get strangers to notice me and a lot more time building a place where the right people could actually experience the depth of my work.

🎯 Step 1: Turn What You Know Into a Body of Work

The first thing I’d do is get clear on what I actually want to be known for. What is my stand?

Not content pillars that someone else told me to use. Not what’s trending. Not what I think will get the most engagement.

What do I stand for?
What do I know?
What do I want people to understand after spending time in my world?

Create your company magazine.

If your magazine was on the shelf at Barnes & Noble each month, what would the topics be?

Q’s to ask yourself:

• What do I believe that most people miss?

• What first hand experience do I have that can help other people?

• What do you believe about your industry that you can stand behind?

• What do your best clients understand differently after working with you?

• What do you want to be known for five years from now?

These are the topics for your magazine.

Your body of work.

When I did this, I decided to use my tagline, it’s been the core of my work for over 20 years:

Be Real. Take a Stand. Change Lives.

These are the topic my work covers.

Then I started writing articles, recording podcasts, going liveknowin exactly how it fit into my ecosystem.

🎯 Step 2: Look at What You’re Already Putting Into the World

Before I created a bunch of new content, I’d go back and look at my last five or ten posts.

Then I’d ask myself:

• Does this show the depth of my thinking?

• Does this help somebody understand my perspective well enough to trust me?

• Does this lead anywhere? Toward a relationship, a conversation, an offer, a next step?

Because if the answer is no, I don’t think the solution is more content.

This is where Substack got really interesting to me.

Instead of creating another feed where I have to keep showing up and hoping people see what I post, I can create a publication. Someone can come in and actually spend time with my work.

They can read.

Watch a video.

Come to a Live.

Subscribe for free.

Go deeper as a paid subscriber.

And if they want more, they can work with me.

It’s a path.

Social media is like trying to convince strangers in a busy bus terminal to stop and listen to you.

Substack is like a high end boutique.

People walk into a boutique on purpose.

The crowd may be smaller, but they’re there because they want to see what you have. They can spend some time. They can get to know you.

We don’t need to be churning leads to get clients. We need to be curating communities.

And if I were starting over today, that’s what I would build.

The answers blew me away. Every single one was positive. So I went and looked for myself, and it was quiet in a way I didn’t expect. No ads. No interruption. People actually talking about things that mattered.

Here’s what I’ve been watching.

How many of your followers actually see what you post?”

• Instagram: 5–7.6% of a creator’s followers see any given post (Socialinsider/AutoFaceless, 2026)

• Substack: 44% of subscribers open the post email (Substack’s reported average, 2026; industry email average is 21%)

Substack is growing fast. 32 million new subscribers came from inside the Substack app in a single three-month window. Not from outside traffic. From readers finding publications inside the platform.

Late last year, Substack changed its’ Notes algorithm. The feed no longer prioritizes content from the people you follow.

It prioritizes restacks, other writers passing your work to their readers.

The people who are building on Substack are growing through relationship, not reach. And the way that growth happens is other creators decide your work is worth sharing with their people.

We can’t do that alone.
I mean that literally.

The restack, the thing that moves your work into a stranger’s feed, only fires when another writer knows your work well enough to want to pass it on. If you’re publishing without collaborating, you are missing out on the growth.

This is the part I want to point out!

For years, being in a mastermind was framed as a personal development thing.

Accountability. Encouragement. And all of that matters. But something new is happening.

Right now, the mastermind groups whose members are publishing to similar audiences as yours is where fast growth happens.

When I say I closed five high-ticket sales on Substack in eight weeks with a small audience, that’s why.

A small audience of women who know each other’s work, restack each other, refer each other, show up in each other’s comments. The audience doesn’t have to be big. It has to be connected.

Substack is where this is happening because it’s the only platform rewarded for bringing you buyers. Instagram wants your attention. TikTok wants your watch time.

Substack wants your readers to pay you, and the whole platform is built around making that happen.

That’s the moment we’re in right now, before the rush of people that will come.
