Since then, community builders have been deep in the code, digging through the tools and cooking up ways to build alongside us. And all that work deserves somewhere to live - one place where everyone can see what everyone else is making.

So we built somewhere to put it all.

Play community-built Pixels worlds, quests, tools and experiments - then vote for what should come to Pixels next!

What this website actually is:

Think of it as the front door to everything the community makes.

• Builders upload what they’ve made: a mod, a tool, a quest, a whole fork of the game.

• The Pixels team reviews it for safety and for whether it plays nicely with the rest of the game.

• Players play it - it’s not a screenshot gallery; you can actually go and try out the projects the community has built!

• Players vote on what deserves to come into the main game.

And, anyone can request something they want built, and a builder can pick it up!

Why we’re doing this:

Pixels has always been made with you - we’ve just never had a proper pipeline for it. Ideas lived in Discord threads and AMA chats; great ones got lost, and the only way anything got built was if it made it onto our roadmap.

The Pixels Community site changes the order of operations. Instead of the Pixels team being the only people building, players can now build things, everyone can try them, and the community decides what’s worth making official. We’re going from running one game to running an ecosystem - and this is the piece that makes that real.

It also means the people doing the work get seen. Mixyero, Hontex, Mnemonicpunk, to name a few, were building within days of the code going up. That shouldn’t live in a reply chain - it should have a front page.

How to Participate:

There are three ways in: build, vote, or request!

⚒️ If you want to build:

Decide what you want to build!

We’ve talked a lot about building new features, games, or UI improvements for the Pixels game. However, this new website is for anything built by the Community. Some examples are mixyero.online, a wiki for all things Pixels, or Wen Mint, an integrated NFT avatar customizer.

Below, we’ve added all the steps to setting up your own instance of Pixels (Realms!!), and using our dev-free system to build: Reforge. You can now build a standalone version or fork of Pixels. Better yet, you can build on top of the existing framework and modify things in-game with our Reforge tooling.

Build your thing!

The sky is the limit! Build new wikis, tools, or complete forks of the game.

Tweak the game:
The client covers character behaviour, items, achievements, cosmetics, tile placement, camera, event handling and minigames. People are already working on farming timers, accessibility improvements, control reworks and full visual overhauls. You don’t need to build a fork - a small quality-of-life fix is a completely valid submission, and some of the most-wanted things on the site are tiny.

Build around the game:
Not everything has to run inside Pixels. Wikis, calculators, market trackers, planners, bots, guides - if you’ve ever had a spreadsheet open next to the game, that’s a tool waiting to be built!

Build your own Pixels!
With the backend open, you can spin up your own instance and run it however you want - your own rules, your own world, your own economy. Or, use Reforge to access your own Realm!

⚒️ Building your own Pixels: the non-technical way

Welcome to Realms! You don’t need to be a developer for this one. Realms are the non-technical way to build with Pixels - no code, no server admin.

1. Open Reforge: our dev-free tooling system

2. Click on Realms Management in the top left to get started

3. Click on Deploy Realms and follow the steps for setup!

Just like that, you have your very own instance of Pixels to play with! And the best part is: you can easily share the link to your Realm with anyone.

⚒️ Building your own Pixels: the technical way

If you prefer, there’s a one-click solution. You’ll need two things installed first:

• Node.js v22.23.2

• Docker

1. Run the command for your operating system.

   Mac / Linux:

   curl -fsSL https://pixelscdn.xyz/install | bash

   Windows (PowerShell):

   irm https://pixelscdn.xyz/install.ps1 | iex

2. Answer the questions. The installer asks you a few things as it goes. Just follow along.

3. Log in to Reforge when it asks. You only have to do this once.

4. Run the final command. When the installer finishes, it hands you one last command. Run it, and it starts everything for you: Reforge, the game, the server, the database, the lot.

5. Open the URLs it gave you. Just above that final command, the installer prints the URLs for everything it just started. Those are your way in - worth bookmarking them.

And that’s it. You’re running your own Pixels! 🎉

Done building? Submit it on the community site!

Head to community.pixels.xyz, click on the Build Tab, and share what you built!

You’ll need:

• A title, tagline & description that will explain your tool to users

• Links to the repo, playable links, and the merge request URL

• Pictures, videos, etc. Anything that can quickly get users excited to see more!

We review it, then everyone sees it! 🎉

Every submission gets looked at by a moderator or someone on the Pixels team. We’re just checking that it’s safe and doesn’t go against community guidelines.

Once it’s approved, it’s live on the site for the whole community to see - and that’s where the fun starts. Everyone gets to see what everyone else has been making!

For Pixels mods: it goes live for voting!

Built a feature, fix or improvement for the live Pixels game? Your submission also goes up for a community vote - that’s what decides which builds we merge into the main game.

Standalone projects and forks don’t need votes. They’re already live for everyone to play the moment they’re approved!

*Note that we will only merge a handful each month, and have the final say in what goes in.

How to vote on Pixels projects:

1. Go to community.pixels.xyz and connect your Pixels account.

2. Play the submissions! Voting on something you haven’t tried is how bad ideas win. Go play them.

3. Cast your votes!

Voting is weighted by what you hold in the ecosystem, not one-vote-per-account, and resets on the first day at 00:00 UTC of each month:

• $PIXEL in your wallet

• Land NFTs

• $PIXEL staked through the game contract

This ratio will change! We want to have your input on how everything is weighted. Let us know in Discord or during our weekly live streams.

⚠️ Keeping yourself safe

Nothing changes in the official Pixels game. Our servers still check every action, exactly as they always have - nobody can mod themselves free $PIXEL or walk off with your items.

But now that the client and the backend are open, community projects can run their own clients and their own servers. So the usual third-party rules apply: only connect your wallet to a build you’re willing to trust, and read every transaction before you sign it. Our review checks that a submission works and isn’t obviously malicious - it is not a security audit. And anything outside the community site hasn’t been reviewed by us at all.

4. Winning builds are considered for merge! 🎉

A strong vote tells us what the community wants, and that carries real weight. It isn’t a guarantee, though. Final say on what goes into the live game stays with the Pixels team. To start, we’re aiming to merge one or two features a month. We’d rather ship a couple of things carefully than a pile of things badly!

If your build doesn’t make it in, we’ll tell you why. We may also come back asking for changes first. The usual reasons are code quality, knock‑on effects for the game economy, or design choices that don’t sit right with the rest of the game. None of that means the idea was bad, and reworking and resubmitting is always welcome!

Not a builder? Request something!

Head to the Requests page, and post what you want to exist. A tool you wish you had. A quest idea. A UI fix that’s been annoying you for years.

Requests are visible to every builder on the site, and can be upvoted by users! Note: these votes don’t count towards your allotted votes. These ones are free!

And… there are bounties!

When there’s a request we all want built, the Pixels Team or any community member can attach real $PIXEL to it.

To claim it, submit your merge request along with a payout wallet. If we accept the claim, the $PIXEL goes to that wallet. Nothing shows as paid on the site until the payment is verified on‑chain, so a bounty marked paid is actually paid, not just promised.

Last week, we ran a raffle in the Seaside Stash for more T3 + T4 Recyclers! We had 14 lucky winners, announced on last week’s AMA.

Barney’s been running supplies to the island this whole time, and the order never changes: leeks, something fungal, and a frankly alarming amount of steak. Which tracks, really. Leaking things, wellness things and protein. Always the protein.

Now the crates are empty, and Luke would rather work straight through hungry than head back to the mainland and pause Claude.

So we’re going up instead. Bring him anything you can grow, snip or carve.

Happy birthday, Luke! Now let’s go feed him!

Here’s how we’re going to do it:

1. Walk West of Terra Villa Central to the Guild Castle Map. Click on the boat to the right of Guild Castle to travel to Luke’s Island!

2. Talk to Barney on the island to start the quest. He’ll explain the situation and hand you the Knife recipe.

3. Get your tools ready:

   1. Leek Seeds - pick them up from Luke’s tent

   2. Cordyceps Snips - also available in the tent!

   3. Luke’s Enhanced Knife - you’ll need to craft it at a Metalworking Station

4. Gather the 3 things Luke loves to eat:

   1. 🥬 Leeks (1 point): Plant the seeds anywhere, and feed them to Luke!

   2. 🍄 Cordyceps (3 points): These are weird little mushrooms that only grow on Luke’s island. Hunt them down, and use your snips on them. Don’t worry, they won’t hurt you.

   3. 🥩 Steak (7 points): Find a Giant Steak anywhere in Pixels (Terra Villa Central, or someone’s land) and use Luke’s Enhanced Knife on it to grab a piece!

5. Now, feed Luke! 500,000 points until he’s full.

Note: if you already have a steak on your land, you need to pick it up and place it back down to activate for this event! If you decide to buy one for yourself, there is a new purchase limit of 1.

Milestone Rewards!

Personal milestones: hit your own feeding thresholds and claim rewards for yourself. The more you haul over to that island, the more you take home!

Global milestones: as the realm total climbs toward 500,000, everyone who’s contributed unlocks rewards together. Nobody gets there alone!

The Last Bite: once Luke is completely full, feed him one final time to claim the closing rewards.

⚠️ You must have fed him at least 7 points of your own before he fills up to be eligible for the final rewards. No last-second turning up with an empty basket. Barney’s watching.

Good to Know:

• The event ends when Luke is full! Not on a fixed date.

• Leeks, cordyceps, steak pieces (not giant ones), snips & knives will be removed after the event.

He won’t come down. He won’t ask. So we bring it to him.

To be clear: this doesn’t mean the entire game is open source yet. The backend still runs the shared world, game logic, and game data. But that part is nearly ready to open-source too - which brings us to what’s coming next:

What’s coming next

1. The backend

This is the big one. Open-sourcing the backend will let developers change far more than visuals and interface - they’ll be able to build entirely new in-game mechanics.

2. Creator tools

We’re building tools that let you create new content without hand-editing code. Think new quests, new items, scriptable objects, and much more.

3. One-click hosting

A hosted service for Pixels forks - making it easy for contributors to spin up a version other people can actually play. The goal is simple: click a button, deploy your own version of Pixels in our cloud (this is basically the Realms feature we talked about ages ago, and the work is nearly done!)

4. Community voting

A new voting experience is coming in the next few weeks. Players will be able to vote on proposals for the official game (the Pixels team reviews proposals before voting opens). Winning a vote won’t automatically guarantee we ship it, but it’ll give us a much clearer signal on what the community actually wants.

5. Payments and rewards infrastructure

We’re retooling Stacked so you can add payments, rewards, and stores inside forked versions of Pixels.

6. A $PIXEL staking rework + UGC payment experiments

This one’s further out, but we’re going to experiment with reworking our staking system to reward builders, creators, and contributors to open Pixels - including a redesign of the staking platform to support it.

Every year, without fail, a mysterious merchant rolls into Terra Villa with one thing on his mind: Shorelimeades. And every year, Heidi is the one left scrambling to deliver.

This year is no different. The merchant is back. The beach is open. And Shorelimes can only grow for 24 hours.

How to participate:

Step 1: Find Shorelime Beach & NPC Heidi!

• 🍋 Walk south of Terra Villa to find the Merchant Ships Beach. Then, walk to the left to find a pathway to Shorelime Beach!

• 👩🏼 Find NPC Heidi and chat with her to trigger the quest

Step 2: Buy Seeds & Plant Shorelimes!

• 🏖️ Head over to Buck’s by the Shore to purchase Shorelime Seeds

• 🌱 Plant and harvest Shorelimes on beach soils

Step 3: Craft & Deliver Shorelimeades!

• 🍹 Craft 21 Shorelimeades at the Juicery right on the beach

• ⭐ Deliver them to Heidi! Every 21 Shorelimeades you give to Heidi (for the Very Important Merchant) earns you a Solstice Star to deposit in the Star Deposit Machine! ⭐

The Pixels Community Cup is a football (soccer) tournament happening right inside the game, and it is going to be chaotic, fun, and absolutely unforgettable! Teams will face off in group stage matches, battle through the rankings, and fight their way to the top of the bracket.

Represent your country, region, favourite NFT collection integrated into Pixels, or anything else! Form your squad around whatever you love most and carry that flag all the way to the finals.

This is your tournament. Pick your team, find your people, and let’s play!!

You’ll need:

• A team name

• A team captain (with their Discord ID)

• A full roster of 5 players and their in-game usernames

Only one person per team needs to register!

Good to know:

• Once registration closes, your squad is locked.

• If a teammate doesn’t show, you play short. Matches run on schedule no matter what. So make sure your crew knows the plan before you lock them in!

After registration closes, teams will be sorted into groups and go head-to-head in round-robin matches. The top performers push through to the knockout stage, where things get very real very fast. Every match is broadcast live, results drop across socials in real time, and the whole Pixels world will be watching.

🗓️ June 20-22: Squads get verified, groups get sorted, and on June 22 we go live for the official group draw. Find out who you’re up against 💪

1. Pick up Chicken Feed from the Chicken Store on Chicken Pet Island. You’ll need it.

2. Find chickens roaming Terra Villa and click to catch them. It might take a few tries. They’re not making it easy. Each successful catch uses 1 Chicken Feed.

3. Caught a chicken? It drops an egg.

4. Crack open the egg for a surprise reward!

Good to know:

• Chickens are scattered across the realm, with a few on Chicken Pet Island!

• There are only 17 total chickens to catch. There will not be new ones spawning.

• Chicken Feed will be removed after the event finishes.

• This is an event, not a quest. You will not receive a quest completion note nor reputation points.

The Stacked Store is Live!

No More Wallet Detours 👀

Until now, moving your Stacked $PIXEL into the Pixels game meant withdrawing to your wallet first, then depositing into the game. It worked. It was annoying.

The Stacked Store fixes that.

How It Works:

1. Open Stacked and head to the new Shop tab.

2. Select Pixels Game.

3. Choose your amount and confirm. Your Stacked $PIXEL converts to $vPIXEL and goes straight to your in-game mailbox.

4. Log into Pixels, check your mail, and you’re done!

Your game account needs to be connected to Stacked to use it. If it’s not connected yet, link it first.

The old withdrawal method isn’t going anywhere. If you want $PIXEL straight to your wallet, that still works exactly as before. This is just a faster lane for getting your rewards into the game!

Guild Codes are now request-based. If your Guild is eligible and wants a code, open a Support ticket to claim one. This is only for new codes - existing will remain the same.

Kickback tiers will stay the same:

• 50 members: 3%

• 120 members: 5%

• 180 members: 7%

VIP Tiers have been adjusted to welcome new players, while adding even more benefits for our highest-tier members. Here’s what’s happening:

• A 1-month VIP coupon is now available in the VIP Coupon store

• TWO new tiers have been added:

  • NEW Tier 1: This is a new, low-level tier. Its benefits sit lower than the current Tier 1, which will be shifted to Tier 2 (with some small changes!)

  • Old Tier 1 is now Tier 2, old Tier 2 is now Tier 3, etc (with some rebalancing along the way!)

  • NEW Tier 6: A brand-new HIGH-level tier for our top players!

Good to know:

• Here’s how each VIP coupon works:

  • 1-month coupon will start at Tier 1

  • 3-month coupon will start at Tier 2

  • 6-month coupon will start at Tier 4

  • 12-month coupon will start at Tier 6

  • Note: it is possible to degrade to Tier 1 if no other spending is done

• Any existing VIP player can expect to keep equivalent perks of their previous tier, except where adjusted.

• Base-level NFT Land Owner benefits have been buffed! 30 bookmarks, 42 inventory slots, +5000 rep points (500 rep points per land after up to 30k), 8H VIP Lounge reset, 20 marketplace listings, 200 stack size, 0.5 energy per HUD task, 54 wardrobe slots, and surplus energy.

Surplus Energy is here! Your energy bar normally maxes out at 1000 and can never go higher, but tiers 3 through 6 can now push past that cap. It doesn’t work passively though, so you won’t just automatically have extra energy sitting there. You’ll need to actively top it up with an Energy Drink or a visit to the VIP Sauna to go beyond 1000!
