After almost a decade, Instagram has refreshed its wordmark with a new, modern typeface. Instagram head Adam Mosseri wrote in a post, “Cleaner and more modern, with references to the original and the simplicity and craft that’s always made it Instagram.”

According to Meta, the design team explored multiple directions—from all-caps concepts to camera-inspired ideas and even literal handwriting—before settling on a typeface that resonated most with the brand. The new branding extends across the entire brand system, with a more subtle use of Instagram’s signature gradient throughout the platform.

As always, the internet was divided. While some felt the new direction was a natural evolution of the brand, others thought the redesign could have been stronger. Some memes even joked that the logo now reads “lnstagram.”

Samsonite Group buys 85% stake in BEIS for $178.5 million in cash

Retaining a 15% stake, actress Shay Mitchell sold 85% of her viral travel company, BEIS, to the Samsonite Group. The acquisition is reportedly aimed at helping the brand expand its customer base and reach.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: in a world where Rhode was acquired at a $1 billion valuation, why did BEIS sell at a valuation closer to $200 million?

The answer is simple: beauty inherently commands higher multiples than travel.

Think about it. How quickly do you finish your favorite beauty product? I personally go through a 100ml bottle of The Ordinary’s hair serum every two months—that’s six bottles a year. Now, how often do you buy a suitcase or travel bag? Maybe once every three years (assuming the warranty has run out).

The frequency of purchase in beauty is significantly higher than in travel. On top of that, the barrier to trying a new beauty product is often much lower because the average price point is far more accessible.

Trending Now: “AI watermark remover”

Earlier this month, Anthropic rolled out a new update: going forward, all text generated or edited by Claude will carry an invisible AI signature. This means that content processed through Claude can potentially be identified by AI-detection software.

Following the update, the internet has gone into a frenzy searching for an “AI watermark remover,” with Google searches reportedly jumping by more than 60%.

The problem? Most people see AI detection as a black-and-white issue. If an AI watermark is detected, the assumption is that the text was written entirely by AI. In reality, that may not be the case at all. A piece could be heavily edited, refined, or partially generated while still triggering detection.

That said, it’s probably only a matter of time before people find workarounds.

RIP: Alex Cooper’s Unwell Beverages

Launched in 2025, Unwell Beverages was Alex Cooper’s attempt to expand the Unwell brand beyond media. However, after a short—albeit highly publicized—run, Unwell Beverages is set to cease production following its final Halloween launch later this year.

Interestingly, this news comes just one day after Unwell secured an investment round that reportedly valued the company at $500 million.

Key takeaway: Don’t confuse virality with sales.Just because a celebrity launches a brand that appears to be “sold out” everywhere doesn’t mean it has long-term staying power. We’ve seen this happen time and time again with brands like KKW Beauty, Preserve by Blake Lively, and many others.

It’s not that easy.

Will Reformation suffer the same fate as Allbirds?

Historically, most DTC fashion brands tend to hit a ceiling somewhere between $45–50 million in revenue. However, Reformation recently went public on the NYSE with a share price of $15, valuing the company at approximately $950 million—just shy of the billion-dollar mark.

That ceiling exists for a reason: rising customer acquisition costs and growth that is often driven by only a handful of hero products.

It’s also important to remember that an IPO is primarily a liquidity event for investors. While it may sound glamorous, it also creates immense pressure to consistently outperform expectations quarter after quarter.

Positioned as a sustainable fashion brand, Reformation has several advantages: an agile supply chain, in-house design capabilities, and domestic manufacturing.

Still, we’ve seen highly valued DTC companies struggle after going public. Brands such as Allbirds and Rent the Runway have lost between 90–99% of their market value. Allbirds, for example, was valued at approximately $2 billion following its IPO in 2021 and was ultimately sold for $39 million in 2026. Much of its downfall was attributed to rapid retail expansion and increasing competition from brands like On Running and Hoka.

Whether Reformation follows a similar trajectory or manages to break the pattern remains to be seen.

Let’s dive into it. Because the reality is that the AI logo is probably not going to stand the test of time and well you may not have the budget to hire a fancy agency.

So I sat down with Niobe, founder and creative director of Studio Kynd, to find out.

Please describe yourself, your branding studio and ethos.

I am Niobe (pronounced nigh-oh-bee), founder and creative director of Studio Kynd.

Although I always dreamed of becoming a designer, I didn’t get into design school and instead became a nurse. Looking back, it was exactly where I needed to be. Nursing taught me how to listen deeply, think strategically, remain calm under pressure and lead with empathy; qualities that now shape every project I work on.

During the pandemic, I began sharing my creative work on Instagram. Within a month, I was fully booked, and six years later that one decision has grown into an award-winning branding studio, taken me around the world, and led to becoming an Adobe Community Leader and Ambassador.

What’s the most expensive branding mistake you’ve watched a founder make and what did it actually cost them?

The biggest mistake isn’t choosing the wrong colour or logo. It’s not dedicating time to building the business behind the brand.

I’ve worked with founders who had incredible ideas, but they were constantly jumping between offers, changing direction, posting inconsistently and reacting instead of leading. Branding isn’t something you complete and put on a shelf, it’s something you actively live every day.

The real cost is clarity. Without it, you lose confidence, attract the wrong clients and spend far more money trying to fix symptoms instead of addressing the root cause.

What has to be true about a business before it’s ready to invest in branding at all?

You don’t need to have everything figured out, but you do need commitment.

The founders who get the most from branding are ready to build something intentionally. They know who they want to serve, they’re willing to make decisions, and they understand that branding is an investment in the future of their business, not just a visual upgrade.

What’s the single most useful thing a founder can do themselves, for free, before they ever get on a call with a studio like yours?

Get clear on why your business exists.

Ask yourself: Why did I start this? What do I want to be known for? Who do I genuinely want to help? How do I want people to feel after interacting with my brand?

The clearer you are on those answers, the more meaningful every design decision becomes.

What’s in the brief you wish every client showed up with — and what happens when they don’t have one?

I do not expect clients to arrive with a perfect brief, that’s part of my job.

What I do love is honesty. Tell me where you are now, where you want to go, what is working, what’s no longer serving you and what success looks like a year from now.

If those answers aren’t there yet, we uncover them together through strategy. That’s why I always begin with foundations before moving into design.

What’s a deliverable clients think they need but usually don’t at an early stage?

A huge website.

So many founders think they need a beautifully designed 10 page website before they’re ready to launch, but in reality, they often don’t.

What they really need is a clear, strategic online presence, a place to introduce themselves, explain what they do and confidently direct people. A simple website that communicates the essentials well will almost always outperform a large website filled with pages that no one visits.

That’s why I offer a one-page website for founders at the beginning of their journey. It’s a more accessible investment, gets them online quickly and gives them a strong foundation to grow from. As their business evolves, their website can evolve with it, adding new pages and functionality when they’re genuinely needed.

I’d much rather see a founder launch with confidence than spend months trying to perfect a website they’ll outgrow before it’s even live.

If a founder only has $2K to spend on branding, what should they spend it on — and what should they skip?

I’d spend it on strategy first.

I often compare branding to building a house. You don’t start with the pretty interiors, you start with the foundations.

Invest in understanding your positioning, audience, messaging and brand direction. Once those foundations are solid, every visual decision becomes easier, more intentional and far more effective.

I would skip trying to create everything at once. It’s much better to build in stages than rush into assets you’ll outgrow in six months.

What’s a branding “rule” everyone repeats that you think is actually bad advice?

One piece of advice I hear all the time is, “Niche down as much as possible.”

At what stage, should a founder get in touch with you and what deliverables can they expect?

Earlier than most people think. So many founders wait until they feel “ready,” but branding isn’t the finishing touch, it’s something that helps shape the direction from the very beginning.

I know that because I’ve been there. I know what it feels like to leave a career, start from scratch, question yourself and build a business one step at a time. While I’m not a business coach, I am someone who’s walked that path before.

My clients aren’t just hiring a designer. They’re gaining a strategic partner who will share honest advice, the lessons I’ve learnt; both the successes and the mistakes and the little Kynd tips I wish someone had shared with me when I started.

Every project is tailored, but alongside strategy, visual identity and creative direction, my goal is to leave founders with something far more valuable: clarity, confidence and a brand they’re genuinely excited to grow into because if I can make your journey just a little clearer, a little calmer and a little kynder than mine felt at times, then I’ve done my job.

Imagine you walked into a store at Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills to buy a handbag. You are not paying for the leather, you’re paying for the brand, and how that makes you feel. That’s what your product page of your website needs to do.

Today, your consumers’ doom scrolling has led them to your website from Instagram, TikTok or an Ad, mid-scroll. You need to continue this experience and keep that momentum. They’re looking for the following:

• Video

• Movement

• Scroll-worthy visuals

• Proof in the storytelling

• Aesthetic context

• Quick information, fast

1. Visuals and Imagery

Your product page gallery needs to be optimized for conversion. Here’s how you’ll make them convert:

• Product shot — the intro

• Application close-up — aesthetic context

• Before and after — the proof

• Infographic — the why and how

• How-to-use video — the movement

Skip any one of these and you’re asking your customer to fill in the gap themselves. They won’t. They’ll just leave. Remember you have about 5 seconds to filter the noise and convince them ‘why’ they should buy your product over every other option they have available.

2. Conversion

Now that you have their attention, let’s ensure they click that add to cart button. This is where you complete the journey and increase your AOV (Average Order Value) and conversion rate. Here is what you need to do next:

• Subscription option, set as default - If you know the repurchase window for your product, use it to your advantage. - Create a subscription and create a reliable repeat purchase cash flow. We do acknowledge that subscription does face some push-back. How we would solve this - make the one-time purchase option very visible, offer a discount on your subscription and do it anyway! The retention economics will win!

• Upsells and cross-sells — pairs well with, complete the look, frequently bought together

• Bundles - give them an incentive to buy more than one product - this is where you sell 3 products by offering a discount (10% will do the magic)

• Slide cart - Don’t make the consumer leave this page - the add to cart button should open a drawer cart - we don’t want to break their journey

Now that we have highlighted the two core events - convince and convert. We need to make sure that we’re giving the consumer enough proof to convince them that our product is worth their $$

Primark, the undisputed king of “why pay full price,” parked a van directly outside the SKIMS store with a giant digital screen advertising its own budget-friendly take on the viral shapewear. Chef’s kiss. Corporate sabotage has never looked so wholesome.

“These Kims prefer Primark” - Well, which one would you buy?

Hot Take: Never leave an opportunity on the table — even a competitor’s biggest moment can become your marketing moment if you’re bold enough to grab it. Focus on your strengths, show real value, and watch the conversation shift in your favor. Primark essentially crashed SKIMS’ housewarming party and left with better gift bags.

Rare Beauty Signs Ella Bright as First-Ever Celebrity Ambassador

Talk about striking while the iron is hot. For the first time ever, Rare Beauty signed Off-Campus‘ Ella Bright, or should we say Hannah Wells, as its first brand ambassador — leaning into the internet’s favorite blushing moment and pairing it, naturally, with the brand’s best-selling blush.

Hot Take: It’s important to separate the brand from the founder — in this case, one of the most Instagram-famous humans alive, Selena Gomez. Rare Beauty didn’t just resonate with its core audience here; Ella Bright is everything the brand stands for. It’s also proof the brand can hold its own without Selena front and center — something Rhode has yet to pull off (looking at you, Hailey).

Rebel vs. Van Leeuwen: A Very Expensive Game of “Who Wore It First”

Van Leeuwen sued Rebel over its branding — and won a $23.8 million ice cream case. Yes, an ice cream case. Someone’s finance team just had the worst Monday of their lives.

Back in 2016, Van Leeuwen hired design powerhouse Pentagram to create its now-iconic pastel packaging with the cursive black font — the kind of branding you’d recognize blindfolded (allegedly, don’t actually try that). Fast forward to today, and Rebel’s packaging looked... suspiciously familiar. So familiar that Van Leeuwen ran a survey and found a 34.3% confusion rate among shoppers.

Rebel argued consumers weren’t actually confused, since the brand names and products differed, and claimed it landed on the design independently. The court, unconvinced, said: nice try. Pack it up (pun very much intended).

Hot Take: Branding is core to your identity — the language and design choices you make will follow your brand for years. Invest in it properly, because copying someone else’s is apparently a $23.8 million mistake waiting to happen.

Erewhon Launches a $12 Water (Yes, You Read That Right)

The Mecca of Luxury Groceries, Erewhon — already famous for the Hailey Bieber Smoothie — has now launched a $12 “Sacred Water.” Twelve. Dollars. For water. In collaboration with wellness brand Jolie, the drink is billed as a “clarified tonic”: a blessed blend of grape juice, coconut milk, coconut water, jasmine tea, basil, anise, cardamom, and raw honey. So basically water cosplaying as a smoothie’s more expensive cousin.

And, predictably, people loved it (well, most people — the rest are somewhere composing a strongly worded tweet).

Hot Take: Perceived value drives pricing strategy, and people will pay for it whether they genuinely like it or not. Even the haters are still talking about it — and as they say, there’s no such thing as bad PR. We’re talking about it too, aren’t we?

Meet Christina Jackson from Club Creative, the wizard behind the vibrant, feel-good designs lighting up social media. Her feed is like a shot of espresso for your eyeballs—pure joy in every scroll! But hey, don’t just take our word for it, dive in and see the magic yourself.

Reliability and trust are built on familiarity and experience. With an e-commerce brand, you lose the chance for in-person interaction, so you need to ensure your brand has a cohesive brand kit of materials and is well-presented in the digital world.

Postcart: Which fonts would you recommend for a starter e-commerce website that would result in easy readability and high conversions?

CJ: Opt for clean, sans-serif fonts like Work Sans, Inter, or Outfit for easy readability—my personal favorites! Make sure to keep things modern and versatile. Introduce a bold, chunkier sans-serif font for headlines to add a touch of boldness. Be sure to balance everything out with a legible serif or handwritten typeface for the accent font.

Postcart: For a product-based business, what kind of banner images would you recommend?

CJ: Product images, of course! But here’s the key: it works best when you showcase the products in real-life scenarios and demonstrate their uses or benefits. That’s how you build trust—by showing the product in action.

Postcart: Does a brand's visual image impact online sales?

CJ:Absolutely. A good brand identity significantly influences online sales and attraction. Back to my first answer—a consistent brand builds trust and recognition. In turn, trust and recognition convert to sales and customer loyalty, meaning even more sales.

Postcart: Lastly, at what stage in a business should one consider investing in branding?

CJ: This used to be a difficult question for me to answer, but after years of working on branding for various businesses, I have come to a final decision. Investing in branding is absolutely crucial in the early stages of your business, but make sure you have a clear understanding of your selling points, values, goals, and most importantly, your target audience. Investing in a brand identity at the start lays the foundation for a successful journey and sets you on the path to success.

But wait, what’s so special about a water tumbler?

Well, not much..

The 110 year old company started by William Stanley, introduced it’s first iteration of their water tumbler, which only very recently went viral (Yes! it’s essentially a glorified bottle of water)

Initally, the the insulated water tumbler was targeted at workmen and those participating in outdoor activities. However, 3 women who din’t even work at Stanley changed everything for the company.

The founders of the Buy guide, used and loved the Stanley Quencher and believed in it’s potential, they thought that the company was missing out the most active target market, which was (no prizes, for guessing)! ~ women between the ages for 25-50.

Right before the launch of their festive season buy guide, they sent free samples to Mom influencers and very quickly the quencher that was available in a variety of fun colors blew up! and they sold 5000 within 4 days of the guide’s release.

So much so that the company had to quickly build out an e-commerce website! ( Yes! they din’t even have one)

Since then, Stanley Cups have collaborated with multiple brands including Target, Starbucks and Loveshackfancy!

And if you want to get one, too bad! they’re all SOLD OUT!

Currently, the quencher is almost always sold out on their own websites and everywhere else!

When customers started complaining about the poor wear and tear of the BEIS luggage after just one use (it's TikTok-famous—check it out!), she turned all the negative chatter around and opened a BEIS wash, where customers can get their luggage cleaned for free. Although it's just a pop-up for a short time, it's a clever way to turn negative PR into positive PR (long enough for customers' short memories).

Our Takeaway: Every negative review is an opportunity! Listen to your customers and think of a clever way to turn it to your advantage!

Now, onto the good stuff: Here are 5 Quick Copywriting Tips for E-commerce:

1. Benefit-Driven Language: Focus on how the product improves the customer’s life, not just its features.

Kanye drops a 30-second ad that costs $7 million to air but a big fat $0 to produce. It's so pixelated and basic, it's like he's time-traveled from the '90s.

What's the ad about? Just Kanye saying, "Hey, I'm Ye, check out yeezy.com." Short, sweet, and now he's swimming in $19 million.
