I was thinking about this today as I gargled with warm salt water to try and soothe the beginnings of a sore throat that either developed inside Cowboy Bar in Jackson Hole, or on the dance floor at Club Tee Gee.

But I digress.

I couldn’t stop obsessing over my friend Kelsey’s phone case customized with adorable charms while we were at lunch. It’s from this brand. I want one lol.

I am now the proud owner of these surprisingly versatile metallic gold Free People cowboy boots. Not only do they look great with pretty much any outfit, they’re also super comfortable! I wore them to the bar AND to go horseback riding.

Speaking of horses, a group of us ECOMM ladies were discussing what we think will be the next animal du jour (a la Sardine girl summer/horse girl fall). My vote is bears. The Ralph Lauren teddy trend is really big right now. Aritzia even has a dupe. Gap has little teddy PJs and Marc Jacobs has teddy bear earrings! Bears seem to have an Americana vibe, despite also existing in Asia and Europe. Hypothetically we should really all be rocking Bison-print things.

New favorite pajama alert: it’s this set from Cozyland. They’re so buttery soft and breathable. Perfect for summer into fall. I can already feel the change in the air! Maybe that’s why my throat hurts.

Luckily Flamingo Estate is doing a seasonal subscription box for Practical Magic 2. It includes a mandrake candle that smells like cedarwood, smoke, warm clove, and spiced resin (aka Dan will hate it), a field protection flower essence made by healer Carla Schwiderski (will use this to protect myself from his negative energy), a soap, pillow mist, oracle cards, Love bomb oaxacan drinking chocolates (omg?), mugwort ritual clearing wands, and a few other goodies. I need it. No, like I neeeed it.

Just tested a few sets of sheets and can say with confidence, the Brooklinen Cooling Cotton Washed Percale is the must-have sheet set of the summer if you’re a hot sleeper. I have it in “Mist Chambray.”

I have it in my head that everyone in Wyoming will be wearing DÔEN. While I don’t have DÔEN money, I did find some really cute dupes for tops and things. Namely, this Quince tank, this Madewell top, this nearly sold out A&F tunic (PLEASE restock!), and this Few Moda dress.

Bijou candles just launched a candle inspired by Big & Little Edith Bouvier Beale. This is getting added to my cart immediately. I have a Pinterest board of women who make me feel strong and protected when I am feeling sad or small and Little Edie is alllllll over it.

I require this silk Ref dress. It’s too hot to wear anything less fabulous. Also, everyone is wearing asymmetrical lace camis and I want in on this trend. Here’s a more affordable option. And another in more (+better) colors.

I asked a hairstylist about the best haircuts/style for round faces. I used to hate having a round face, but now I understand that it is sweet like a bun and mirrors my deep astral connection to the moon.

Speaking of hair, I am really loving the Kérastase Nutritive Nutri-Supplement Scalp Serum. It smells amazing and my scalp has never felt better. Oh! I almost forgot to mention!! I hinted at it in my last post, but ( plated ) dropped a body serum that is absolutely life changing. I have chronic eczema so I need something deeply hydrating that also helps with skincare turnover and healing. I’ve noticed the biggest difference on my hands and chest. Lovinggggg this.

My toxic traight is that I can’t stop wanting to buy pants. I love these red Leset pants but they are OOS. Gap has a great dupe that is also OOS. Luckily there are a few left of this acid green color from J.Crew.

Summer is far from over. There is still plenty of time to wear this striped Vitamin A one-piece.

However tomorrow is the official start of fall inside my heart!!! I am taking my perky lil B hind over to HomeGoods for all the Johanna Parker goodies they’ve got going on over there. My second purchase? This pillow. I got a massage on my birthday and they did cupping on my shoulders, which are always tight and hurt. Well, now they feel a bit better but they are extremely bruised (which they said would happen from how much tension and fluid is there). I looked into what could help (other than running away from my responsibilities) and switching pillows was a top idea. I am loving this pillow so far. It cradles my head and supports my neck and I feel like I am sleeping more deeply when I use it.

This is the most July-y July I’ve lived since childhood. It’s probably because of the celebratory nature of the World Cup supercharging my July 4th, plus my taking art classes (I always did art camp as a kid). I’m relishing the heat and drinking wine in old movie theaters and reading good books and making tasty dinners and having fun with my friends.

I’m also lucky enough to take time off and go on a few trips this summer.

Below, you’ll find a roundup of things I personally will be (or want to be) taking on vacation with me through summer. Plus finds from around the internet that have that fresh, fun, sprinkles on top of ice cream extra vacation vibe.

You don’t have to be going to Italy or the Hamptons or even leaving your apartment to get joy from these items.

What I’m Packing

First of all, everything is going in my Beis roller bag. Their luggage stands up to tough travel and offer tons of pockets and space without breaking any TSA guidelines that could cost you more cash. Plus, I think they look great.

I’m really excited about this Frances Valentine Embroidered Charming Caftan. I have the perfect jelly heel sandals to go with it too.

My favorite Quince one-piece. I always get so many compliments on it! And not to be annoying about Quince, but these white shorts will be coming too.

My Coola scalp SPF is going into my toiletry bag first so I don’t forget it! I sunburned my scalp at the beach last month and the flaking was 0% fun. Speaking of scalp protection, this silk scarf is coming with me. Great for sweaty/oily root days or when a basic outfit needs something to shake it up. Also coming with? This Anua SPF stick. Your nose, neck, chest, and shoulders will thank you.

One of the places I’m going is Europe, which doesn’t always have A/C. I’ll be bringing my trusty and deeply loved holi (stick) cap d’ antibes deodorant from Agent Nateur, providing I don’t run out of it first. If I do, I really want to try the tarte tropézienne scent next. I promise these natural deodorants actually work and keep you smelling fresh!!

A friend at work introduced me to these ginger candies and now I swear by them for any car/plane/train/boat-induced nausea. These are coming in my plane bag right where I can access them, in my favorite clear pouch.

I like a minimal face on vacation so I’m going to keep it light on the makeup. Plus after months of spiro and 2 rounds of microneedling, I feel more like I can! I’m bringing my favorite Neen lipgloss, Charlotte Tilbury blush stick, and Ilia mascara.

Things That Feel Like Vacation

The Flamingo Estate Jasmine Damask Rose Candle. They’re getting annoyed with me in Highland Park for the amount of times I just go into the pop up store and smell this candle.

If anyone feels like giving me $420 I would buy this Alessia Dress in “Bicheno Paisley.” Feels like the perfect summer in Italy wedding guest dress.

This beaded Zara bag is on sale and so fun!! You can definitely find similar beaded bags on depop and eBay. Ex: this one, this one.

I really love this adorable little crab ring. It is Cancer season, after all.

You need a little satin ballet flat for running around museums and ancient churches and things. I love this St. Agni find (they’re on sale!) but these are $50 at Mango and look like they slipped off Marie Antoinette’s foot.

So I do own this Aeston West Treatment Mist, but I won’t bring it on the airplane due to liquid size restrictions and also fear that the gorgeous bottle might break. But if you want a little taste of vacation (with skincare benefits) right at home, this is exactly what you need!

Bare minimum? Bring the flavor of vacation into your workday with a tropical-leaning fiber powder from Sakara. I am not being paid to say this, I am just someone who keyed into the fact that Americans aren’t getting nearly enough daily fiber, and how important it is for protecting your body! You can add this to water, a smoothie, or a matcha and it tastes great and can be enjoyed pretty much anywhere.

Summer means lots of crunchy and refreshing vegetables for all who dwell in my apartment. I love the cookbook Six Seasons which has a bunch of fun flavor and texture combinations. I made this crunchy, herby, wonderful salad last night to much success and adoration (from Dan).

I’ve heard this place is a tourist trap but I’ve also heard it’s very good…. considering going when I’m in Amsterdam later this summer. Would also love to go here + the oldest bakery. Am open to more recs!

So I am trying to be more cognizant and grateful and commit to memory all the bliss that is sitting on the grass in the sunshine with my best friend, the delicious perfume of my favorite beauty products, the giddy feeling of waving back at a baby who is learning how to be noticed, the silver hairs threaded through my boyfriend’s black hair, the way my mom smiles at me when I show up at her house for dinner.

As you may have guessed, my body is currently in shambles. I took a yin yoga class to get some gentle, good movement in and the teacher massaged my third eye with Everyday Oil, which I used to use allll the time and forgot just how lovely and invigorating it smells.

I’m a big fan of Agent Nateur and am currently testing out this hair peptide leave-in conditioner. It feels luxe and smells like an expensive hotel. Will follow up if I see consistent results! I maintain that their non-toxic deodorant is the best thing on the planet.

The World Cup has made me feel patriotic for the first time since Taylor Swift’s 2016 Fourth of July party. I want to wear some fun red, white, and blue this summer! This cardigan feels like a subtle, Americana nod. I like that these jelly sandals don’t look like they’ll give me blisters. Gingham feels kind of safe? This GAP set is kind of a vibe. We’re going to a 4th party with a dessert competition, and my plan is to make a key lime pie that knocks everybody’s socks off. This one seems super easy and has great reviews, but lmk if you have a recipe you trust!

Holy FUCK these are my dream shoes.

Prime Day is this coming week. I will be doing 99% of my reporting for my day job. However, I mAYYYYY make a post (should I have energy!!) about what’s worth it over here. RN everything in my cart is p much just like paper towels, cleaning supplies, and a few key beauty/accessory restocks that are actually worth it.

Oh right, that’s what I wanted to tell you! The Rhode pocket bronzer has a buttery, gorgeous application, but you’re not going to get a glowy finish. The o.piccola bronze and glow balm is truly one-stop shopping. Both are worth having in your arsenal for different reasons. If I’m going on vacation with limited makeup, Olivia Jade wins this round. For some sculpting and a little bronze, Hailey all the way. It’s worth mentioning that as a little ghost girl I am very impressed with Rhode’s shade range!

THINGS I’VE TRIED & AM LOVING

I’ve been loving this Dr. Althea PDRN cream. It makes my skin feel nice and juicy. I just wish it came in a bigger tube! Speaking of K-Beauty, this propolis lip balm is also beyond wonderful.

Charlotte Tilbury came out with these blush sticks and the colors seem scary because they are so bright, but if you apply it to the back of your hand and then lightly to the apples of your cheeks they blend out like a dream. I love the pink color.

This is my current preferred form of magnesium. It’s like enjoying a little treat before I sleep!

I wore this DISSH set to my friend’s birthday dinner and it was a non-stop compliment fest. Size down in the top. It’s a lot of fabric.

I tried ZenToes!!! I am kind of obsessed with them. I wear them for 10 mins every day. I don’t have problem feet, but I love the stretch and release I feel when I wear them.

So I wasssss sent this shimmer oil SPF, I just haven’t tried it yet. Will be at the pool over the weekend and will test out. Will also be wearing a tankini! It’s the summer of the tankini, because why not? Really liking this set.

Even though I’m a July baby, my body yearns for chilly fall weather (summer has barely begun and I am already so sweaty). I’ve been mentally vacationing in October temps just by looking at Anthro’s early Halloween offerings. These ceramic ghost hurricane candle holders are adorable. On Thursday I got microneedling with PRP (platelet-rich plasma). Since then, I’ve locked myself up in my apartment, closed all the blinds, refused all visitors, and watched 16 episodes of The Mindy Project.

PRP is your own damn blood btw. They draw blood, spin it a whole bunch until it separates, then create micro injuries using a tool with needles and rub the yellow plasma in.

I was excited Day 1. Day 2 I had a meltdown that this might all be a horrible mistake. Now I’m on Day 3 and I see the vision! However, my skin feels crispy to the touch. Apparently that’s normal before all that junk flakes off.

I used nothing on my face for 24 hours after. Since then, I’ve only been using this TiZO moisturizer (it’s on sale btw) and as of today, started incorporating TiZO sunscreen. I am not paid by Big TiZO, I’m just a fan.

My plan is to cleanse my face this evening with First Aid Beauty Ultra Gentle Pure Skin Cream-to-Foam Face Cleanser. I was told to stay away from my favorite cleansing oil and any actives or anything too occlusive for the time being.

It’s Memorial Day weekend, which as you may or may not know is HUGE for sales. The nurse who drew my blood wanted to inform me that I am dehydrated, so the first thing I purchased during the sale is a new 30-ounce Stanley. I will not remember to drink water if it is not directly in front of my face and in a brightly colored vessel.

Revolve is having a Memorial Day sale and I am using all my strength not to buy the Madison Pajama Set. It’s covered in teddies!!! It’s SO cute!! Other things I would buy? This Bronx and Banco Eva Midi Dress and this LAMARQUE Leslie Trench Coat (would have to save for fall/winter but oooomg).

I also have my eye on the Hill House Home sale. I want to wear this dress in Italy!! I am also lowkey determined to get a skirt like this one at some point so maybe now is that time? Idk.

I pick up my phone and already have Slacks from people in New York and about 140 new emails since I hit inbox zero yesterday at 6pm.

I respond to an email chain about celebrity content and ask the rep for a new photo to use for social. I Slack with social. I watch 3 TikToks about Hantavirus and get scared and close my phone. It’s 7:15 am.

My fiance is still asleep.

I put on my favorite Free People shorts (I own them in three colors, that’s how much I like them), a crewneck, and socks and shoes. I grab my headphones and head out the door. I like to walk for about 30 minutes every morning, plus Clark Street Bakery opens at 7:30 and I want coffee and a scone.

I listen to the Goop podcast. It’s an episode about why women need to pay attention to early signs of heart disease. I get anxious and switch to Malcolm Todd.

I get more work Slacks. I respond to a few emails while I’m in line. CSB is only just opening and somehow it’s packed. I get my scone, coffee, and run into Kreation to pick up some bone broth.

I get home and shower. My fiance is still asleep.

I heat up my bone broth, it’s Japanese beef marrow for all wondering! And respond/send more emails. We are out of sandwich baggies, BBQ sauce, and I am almost out of my e.l.f. concealer, so I order some quickly via Am*zon.

My fiance (34, male, Dan) is finally awake!!

I splash my face with water and slap on some hydrating serum, a TIZO moisturizer I’m trying, and my favorite TIZO sunscreen. My current face is Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Natural Glow Blurring Liquid Foundation, rhode Pocket Blush Buildable Hydrating Cream Blush, and a few bits and bobs from brands I’m testing/don’t remember.

I get to the office and I’m in meetings until noon. The legs of my new Quince jeans are somehow too short and when I sit with my legs crossed become capris. My calves are cold.

Every work meeting is different! Sometimes it is like one of those movie magazine jobs where we talk about trends and pitch interview ideas with brands and celebrities attached or a product we tried and loved (or occasionally hated).

Today, some team members presented graphics ideas for some new content we’re trying. I love when people can be creative like this! I’m always so impressed by the talent of the people I work with.

Other times these meetings are purely administrative. I am managing commerce editor so I guide the flow of traffic on the editorial calendar + its general content, help writers bring ideas to life in a way that aligns with our site’s voice, edit mostly everything, and write 1000000000 notes to myself every single day.

We’re just coming off Met Gala and it’s still a little bit crazy in the office (and my inbox).

Today I’m also writing up a Mother’s Day shopping interview with an Olympian. I am thoughtfully cobbling it together while simultaneously answering emails from our booking team, fielding questions from writers, and joining in on office chatter (Hantavirus cruise, Chimp Crazy, Kim Kardashian energy drinks).

I approve photos. I respond to a paid content thread. I eat some soup for lunch.

I get a notification that my Ballerette shoes have been delivered to my apartment. I get looped into another meeting. My meds have also been delivered to my apartment. I ask Dan to bring them inside.

Many of my emails are from brand reps pitching me their products and experts or sharing exciting product/brand news. Some of my emails are cool invites. Some of my emails are full of analytics and data that I use to make content decisions.

Typically, I won’t respond to emails where my name is incorrect or not used at all or the product or brand has absolutely nothing to do with what we cover.

I am very tired!!!!! I don’t go home for 2 more hours.

Time passes and suddenly I am on the roof of the parking garage walking to my car. It’s a blissful feeling tbh.

I get home, send Andrew a voice memo to catch up on our day and put on my workout clothes to go down to the building gym. I am still getting slacks and emails : )

I do my lil 12-3-30 and shower and when I’m done, Dan has surfaced. He is very cranky and wants to watch the NBA playoffs.

I run out to the store and pick up cauliflower pizza and salad for dinner that Dan and I split.

I have the idea to write this Substack.

Our Ranch dressing is organic and kind of runny and yes, I like to put it on pizza, but it is offending me this evening.

I remind myself that I am so lucky and blessed to be living this absolute dream life where I can enjoy runny Ranch dressing on frozen cauliflower pizza. At least I have teeth! At least I have a working digestive system! And sense of taste and smell!

I think about a brand founder I interviewed who told me she puts her phone in the bathroom at least 2 hours before bed. I think about how I am likely going to research microneedling aftercare for 2 hours before I go to sleep.

My favorite yoga studio closed this month. RIP ASTROGONG on La Brea. Now I have to find a new one that I like. I am open to recs but I am NOT dedicating myself to a consistent hot yoga class. I like Silver Springs for the community but constant hot classes stress me out. Might try a class here?

Something so crazy is these are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever put on my feet. They do make me feel like an American Girl doll but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
