If you’ve been following along, you know Pinterest is one of my top traffic drivers. It’s one of the best platforms for anyone doing affiliate marketing or selling, because unlike Instagram or TikTok, a pin doesn’t die after 24 hours. I have pins from months ago still pulling traffic today. That’s the whole appeal, you post once and it keeps working while you sleep, while you’re at your day job, while you’re doing literally anything else.

But here’s what took me way too long to figure out: not every pin is doing the same job.

For a while, I treated Pinterest like a numbers game. Post consistently, post often, and the algorithm will reward you. And to be fair, that’s not wrong, consistency does matter (a lot). But I was spreading my energy evenly across three different content pillars like they’d all perform the same if I just showed up enough:

1. Affiliate finds / product roundups — pins linking out to specific products I’m recommending, whether that’s through LTK, ShopMy, or Amazon.

2. Tips and how-to content — pins teaching something. Think “3 ways to start your fitness journey” or “how to price your first UGC gig.”

3. Product promo — pins driving traffic to my own stan.store offers, like the courses or ebooks.

I was creating all three at roughly the same rate, assuming the algorithm (or my audience) didn’t really care which bucket a pin came from, as long as it was useful and well-designed. I was wrong. One of these three categories is carrying way more weight than the other two, not because the other two are bad, but because there’s something specific about why this one converts that I wasn’t accounting for.

And once I noticed the gap, I didn’t scrap the underperforming categories. That’s not the move. If you’ve been here a while, you know my whole philosophy is to double down on what’s working rather than constantly chasing something new, but that only works if you actually understand why something’s working in the first place. Otherwise you’re just guessing which lever to pull harder.

So that’s what I actually dug into. Not just “which category gets the most clicks,” but what’s structurally different about the winning category, the pin design, the copy, the way it’s positioned, that the other two are missing. Because once you understand the why, you can borrow pieces of it and apply them across all your content, instead of writing off two thirds of your strategy.

Okay, it’s that time of year again (salt airrrrrr) (iykyk) — back to school ads everywhere, pumpkin spice making a comeback (yes I’m counting down the days until I can get a pumpkin cream cold brew) and that little itch we all get to start something new. If you’ve been thinking about finally starting an online income stream, I’m going to be honest with you: fall might be the smartest time of year to do it. Not just because of the “new season, new me” energy (though I love that for us), but because of what’s actually happening in the industry right now. So let me explain!✨⬇️

I get asked all the time why I recommend starting before January to really go all in on online income streams, and the answer is simple: by the time everyone else is starting in January, you can already be a few steps ahead. Let’s break down why timing matters so much this time of year, and then I’ll walk you through your three main options so you can figure out which one actually fits your life.

Why fall is a genuinely good time to start

There’s real strategy behind starting now instead of waiting for January like everyone else.

Q4 is when brands and shoppers open their wallets. Retailers ramp up spending for the holiday season, which means affiliate commissions tend to climb as more people shop through creator links for gifts. Think about your own habits and how much of your holiday shopping happens because you saw something on Pinterest or TikTok first? If you start building your affiliate presence now, you’re positioning yourself right as demand is about to spike, instead of scrambling to catch up in November when everyone else finally decides to try it too.

It’s also when UGC brands loosen their budgets. A lot of companies are sitting on marketing budgets they need to use before the year ends, and they’re actively looking for more content to run ads with heading into the holidays. That means more opportunities and often better rates for UGC creators who reach out now, before every other creator floods their inbox in November.

And digital products get a slow build toward January. People don’t usually buy “learn something new” products in October — but the New Year’s resolution wave is coming, and if you spend the fall building your product and your audience, you’ll actually have something ready to sell when everyone starts searching in January instead of starting from scratch then. This is genuinely the biggest mistake I see people make, they wait until January to start building which isn’t bad, although it’s always an advantage to be ready early.

Basically: fall is prep season, even if the payoff for some of these comes a little later. Starting now means you’re not behind when the demand hits, you’re already there waiting for it. So let me break down the 3 online income streams that I use to earn a full time income from my phone / laptop!⬇️⭐️

Option 1: Affiliate Marketing

What it is: Sharing products you love (or that fit your niche) and earning a commission when people buy through your link.

Who it’s for: People who already talk about products naturally, whether that’s on Pinterest, Instagram, or TikTok, and don’t mind being consistent about it. You don’t need a huge following to start, which honestly surprises most people when they first hear it. I started with barely 3000 followers and reached a $10k month just a few months after starting!

The upside: Low barrier to entry, no product to create, and it scales well once you find what converts. Q4 timing especially favours this one since shoppers are already primed to buy.

The catch: It takes consistency and testing to figure out what actually converts for your audience. It’s rarely a “post once and done” kind of income, unless you’re lucky enough to have a post go viral. And the platforms you’re on matter more than people think.

Option 2: Digital Products

What it is: Creating something once (a guide, template, ebook, mini course) and selling it over and over.

Who it’s for: People who like the idea of “build once, sell forever” and are willing to put in real effort into “selling” consistently.

The upside: Highest ceiling for passive income long term, and you’re building an asset that’s actually yours instead of relying on a platform or brand deal. Starting this fall means you’re ready right when the January resolution crowd starts searching for exactly what you’re offering.

The catch: You’re creating, marketing, and building trust before most people are ready to buy. It rewards patience more than any other stream on this list, but it’s also the one with the most room to grow, and earn money while you’re sleeping, vacationing, etc.

This is actually the stream I get the most questions about, because people assume you need some huge following or a totally original idea to start. You don’t. In fact you don’t even need to show your face! Option 3: UGC (User-Generated Content)

What it is: Creating short form video content for brands to use in their marketing or ads, you get paid per video, not based on your follower count.

Who it’s for: People who are comfortable on camera (or willing to get comfortable) and like the idea of client work over audience building.

The upside: You can start earning quickly if you’re willing to put in the time with outreach and building your portfolio at the beginning, and Q4 brand budgets can genuinely mean more opportunities and better pay right now while companies are trying to use up what’s left of their marketing spend.

The catch: It’s more hands on, you’re pitching, filming, and managing emails and client relationships, which is a different kind of work than the other two. It’s less “set it and forget it” and more ongoing effort.

So… which one should you start?

Honestly? It depends on what you have more of right now: time, patience, or comfort on camera. All three of these are real income streams , I do all three, and they each fund a different part of my business, but they each ask something different of you.

If you’re an hands on type of person and don’t mind pitching yourself, UGC can be extremely rewarding. If you’re patient and want to build something long term, digital products are worth trying. And if you’re already sharing things you love online anyway, affiliate marketing might be the easiest one to layer in without changing much about what you’re already doing.

Four months. $50k. And when I started, I had none of the things people tell you that you “need” to make money online. I didn’t have a big following. I didn’t have expertise I’d been building for years. I didn’t even really know what a digital product was supposed to look like beyond a vague idea of “ebook”, I guess? I was genuinely starting from nothing but a phone, a couple social media accounts, and the willingness to try something.

I say all that because I think a lot of us assume the people making real money online got some head start we didn’t get. Like they had connections, or they got lucky with timing, or they’re just naturally good at this stuff. And maybe that’s true for some people! But it wasn’t true for me. What actually happened was way less glamorous than that — I bought a product someone else had already made that fit into my niche, I posted about it every single day, and I paid really close attention to what people actually responded to. That’s it. Although it may sound simple and easy, the truth is there are a lot of things I learned along the way that stumped me and made me realize “ooooohhhhhh I get it now”. So that’s why I decided to write this post…

So if you’re sitting there thinking you need years of experience or some special skill before you can start making money with digital products, I promise you don’t 🙅‍♀️ You need a starting point and you need to actually follow through on the boring, repetitive parts — which honestly is the harder pill to swallow for most people (myself included), and what makes them quit before seeing results.

This post is me breaking down the actual sequence, step by step, so you have a real roadmap instead of just vague “believe in yourself” advice that doesn’t tell you what to actually do on a Tuesday morning when you’re staring at your phone with no idea what to post.

One more thing before I get into it — I’m not going to pretend every day of these first four months felt exciting or like I could just sit back and watch the money come in. A lot of it felt slow and repetitive and honestly kind of boring in the moment. I think that’s important to say because so much of what gets shared online about “how I made X amount” skips over the part where you’re just… doing the work quietly, with no idea if it’s actually going anywhere yet. So if you start this and week one or two feels uneventful, that’s so normal!! Keep going. Now let’s get into it🤌🏼

Step 1: I Started With a Done For You Product (Not My Own) 📦

The very first thing I did was buy a done for you product. A DFY product, if you’ve seen that term floating around — from another creator. Basically, someone else had already built the thing. Written it, designed it, put it together. I paid for the rights to sell it as if it were mine.

I know that might sound like cheating or like it doesn’t “count,” but hear me out. If you’re brand new to this, the thing that kills most people before they even start is getting stuck trying to build a perfect product from scratch. You spend three weeks agonizing over what to make, how to design, what colors/fonts to use, etc. Then another few weeks trying to put words into it, and by the time you’re done you’ve either burned out or talked yourself out of it entirely. Starting with a DFY product skips all of that. You get something finished on day one, and instead of spending your energy creating, you get to spend it learning how to actually sell.

That said, I want to be honest with you. Buying a done for you product doesn’t mean you sit back and money falls in your lap. You still have to treat it like it’s yours. You still have to market it, show up for it, and figure out who it’s actually for. The product being finished just removes one giant barrier (the first step) so you can focus on the part that actually pays: getting it in front of people.

A couple things I’d tell you to look for if you’re going this route: make sure the person you’re buying from is upfront about what rights actually come with your purchase (some let you resell as is, some let you edit and rebrand it, some don’t allow resell at all), and try to buy from someone whose audience or content style overlaps with what you actually want to build. I didn’t overthink this part — I picked something that fit a gap I noticed people asking about, paid for it, and got moving the same week!

I also took my first done for you product and added my own “special touches”. For example I added my own personal experiences / tips, replaced graphics, updated names, etc. And you can do that if the product also comes with PLR (private label rights) allowing you to EDIT the products as well as resell them.

How Affiliate Marketing Actually Works (No Followers Required)

Here’s the thing nobody tells you when you’re just getting started: affiliate marketing isn’t about how many followers you have. It’s about whether someone clicks your link and buys something. That’s it. You could have 200 followers and still make sales if the right person sees the right product at the right moment.

The way this actually works is through affiliate networks, platforms that connect you with brands and give you a trackable link. When someone clicks your link and buys, you get a commission. No following required to sign up for most of these (though some have minimum requirements, more on that below).

The three I’ve actually used and can vouch for:

LTK — This is the OG influencer shopping platform. You create an account, get approved (there’s an application, and yes, they do look at your content, but it’s not about follower count so much as whether your content is genuine and consistent), and then you can tag products from thousands of retailers. When someone buys through your LTK link, you earn a commission.

Amazon Influencer Program — This gets you a custom Amazon storefront where you can recommend products you actually use. You apply through Amazon, and approval is based more on your content quality and engagement than raw numbers. Once you’re in, you get affiliate links for basically anything sold on Amazon.

ShopMy — Similar concept to LTK but with a different (and honestly growing) network of brands. It’s become a favourite because the application process is generally more accessible to smaller creators.

For Pinterest, I link my Linktree directly to the graphic pin I’m posting, so people can tap through and find whatever product I’m talking about. But I also use Pinterest’s built in feature that connects your Amazon Influencer account directly to Pinterest, this lets you link commissionable Amazon products straight through Pinterest itself, no Linktree middleman needed.

For Instagram and TikTok, it’s simpler: link in bio. I use a link in bio tool (like Linktree or Beacons) that houses all my current affiliate links in one place, and I just direct people there by saying “linked in my bio!” or I set up ManyChat to automatically send a link to someones DMs when they comment a trigger word.

Pinterest

Pinterest isn’t really “social media” in the way Instagram or TikTok is — it functions more like a visual search engine. People go there actively looking for ideas, inspo, products, and things to buy. That intent alone makes it a great place for affiliate links.

My focus is mainly Amazon finds — generally affordable fashion, skincare, and beauty finds. However I do branch out sometimes (home decor, wellness, organization, etc). The great thing about pinterest is that you can broaden your niche as much as you choose.

For the graphics themselves, I use a mix of Canva templates and my own phone photos. Having a consistent, scroll stopping graphic style matters a lot on Pinterest since it’s such a visual platform — if you want a shortcut, I actually sell my own Pinterest/IG/LTK affiliate templates so you don’t have to build from scratch.

As I mentioned, I link two ways on Pinterest: I attach my Linktree to the graphic pin itself, or, when it’s an Amazon find, I use Pinterest’s built in integration with the Amazon Influencer Program to link the product directly — no extra click required.

What Actually Made Pins Perform

Keyword research and SEO play a huge role in this — Pinterest is a search engine, so your pin titles and descriptions need to include the words people are actually typing in and searching for. I don’t just write a cute caption; I think about what someone would search for if they were looking for exactly what I’m posting.

Consistency matters a lot too. Pinterest rewards you for showing up regularly, so I made a habit of posting on a steady schedule rather than in bursts. And tying pins to seasonal or trending topics — holidays, back to school, whatever’s culturally relevant that month always gives an extra boost.

But the biggest unlock for me was getting specific. Instead of a generic “Amazon finds” pin, I’d talk directly to a person: “Amazon finds for stay at home moms,” or “what to wear to a western concert.” That specificity does two things — it better matches what people are searching for, and it makes the person scrolling feel like the pin was made just for them.

Instagram & TikTok

Unlike Pinterest, Instagram and TikTok are true social platforms — people aren’t necessarily searching with buying intent, so the content itself has to do more of the work to convert.

For me, Reels are what actually drives clicks, not as much static posts or stories. Short form video just performs better across both platforms, and it gives me room to actually show the product instead of just describing it.

My format is mostly product hauls and reviews — showing what I bought, what I think of it, and why someone might want it too. This works because it feels less like an ad and more like a friend telling you about something they found. People trust a genuine reaction way more than a polished pitch.

Since neither platform lets you add clickable links directly in a caption the way Pinterest does (unless you have TikTok shop), the strategy here is simple: I mention in the video or caption “linked in my bio!” — and my Linktree houses all my current affiliate links so people can find whatever I just talked about. I also use ManyChat to set up trigger words so whenever someone comments the trigger word, ManyChat will automatically DM that user the link, which is how this turns into passive income (no work done on my end!).

Hooks: How to Stop the Scroll

On Reels and TikTok, you’ve got about 1-3 seconds before someone decides whether to keep watching or scroll past. For product content specifically, the hooks that work best for me call out the viewer directly — not the product.

Instead of starting with “this is amazing” or describing the item, I open with something like: “If you have designer taste on a low budget, you’ll love this,” or “This is perfect if you struggle with...” naming the exact person this is for and the exact problem or desire they have.

This works because it does the specificity trick from Pinterest, but even faster. Someone scrolling has to feel like you’re talking directly to them within the first second, or they’re gone. A hook that calls out a struggle, a taste, or an identity (”if you’re someone who...”) does that instantly. It’s the difference between someone thinking “oh, a product video” and someone thinking “wait, that’s me.”

What Actually Connects Success Across Both Platforms

Pinterest and Instagram/TikTok work really differently. One’s search driven, one’s algorithm driven, but a few things held across both for me.

Testing and tracking what converts. Not every pin or Reel is going to hit, and that’s normal. What worked was paying attention to what actually got clicks and sales, not just views or likes, and doing more of that. A video with a lower view count can still outperform a viral one if the right people see it.

Patience. This isn’t instant. It took time to see real, consistent results on both platforms, and that’s easy to forget when you’re comparing yourself to accounts that look like they blew up overnight.

Mistakes to Avoid

The biggest one I see (and made myself) is being too salesy. If every single post is “buy this,” people tune out fast. The content that converts is the stuff that feels genuinely helpful or relatable first, with the product as a natural part of that, not the whole point.

The second is giving up too soon. Because this isn’t instant, a lot of people quit right before things start to click — literally. If you post for a few weeks and don’t see sales, it’s tempting to assume it doesn’t work. But affiliate marketing, like most of what we talk about here, rewards showing up consistently over time.

Getting Started: Your First Steps

If you’re starting from zero today, here’s the honest, achievable path:

1. Apply to a bunch of affiliate programs at once. Don’t overthink which one is “best” — apply to LTK, the Amazon Influencer Program, and ShopMy (or whichever combination is available to you) all around the same time. Acceptance criteria vary and aren’t purely follower based, so see which ones accept you and start there. You can always apply to the others again later once you have more content built up.

2. Pick the platform that actually fits you. There’s no required order here — Pinterest and Instagram/TikTok work through completely different mechanics (search vs. algorithm), so the “right” one to start on is whichever fits your strengths. If you’re comfortable in front of a camera and like quick, casual content, start with Reels. If you’d rather create graphics and don’t want to be on video, Pinterest might be the better entry point.

3. Start posting before you feel “ready.” Whether it’s your first pin or your first Reel, the goal early on is just to start generating data: what gets clicks, what doesn’t, so you can refine from there.

4. Set your links up correctly from day one. Get your Linktree (or similar) set up before your first post, and if you’re doing Pinterest with Amazon products, connect your Amazon Influencer account to Pinterest right away so you’re not missing that direct link feature.

5. Give it real time before judging results. As we covered above, this isn’t instant — commit to a few consistent months before deciding whether it’s working.

Affiliate marketing without a following isn’t some secret hack — it’s just knowing where to put your energy and giving it enough time to actually work. Okay so if you’re new to content creation and trying to figure out how to actually make money from your phone, tech UGC might be the easiest entry point I’ve found. No years of building a following first, no perfectly curated aesthetic, no “finding your niche” before you can even start earning. You can genuinely start this weekend.

Here’s the thing nobody tells you: most of what you think you need to start UGC, you don’t actually need.

Tech UGC, you’ll also hear it called Canvas UGC, is built differently than beauty or fashion UGC. You’re not even posting on your own account! You’re literally creating a brand new, separate account just to promote one app or piece of software, and your only job is proving your videos can convert.

That’s the barrier to entry: can you make a video that makes someone want to download an app?

I’ve been doing this for about a year now and I currently have 3 tech UGC clients, working like 30-40 minutes a week per client (I’ll say that again in a sec because I know it sounds fake). I wanna walk you through exactly what this is, how the money actually works, and why I genuinely think it’s one of the most underrated ways to make money online right now for beginners.

What Tech UGC Actually Is

A tech or software company, think productivity apps, budgeting apps, AI tools, photo editing apps, literally anything in the app store, wants short form video content that makes their product look good. But instead of posting it from their own brand account (where it screams “ad”), they want it to look like it’s coming from a real person who just found this app and is obsessed.

That’s where you come in! You make a brand new TikTok or Instagram (not your personal one) themed around whatever the app does. Budgeting app? Maybe your account is “money tips for your 20s.” AI writing tool? “productivity hacks for students.” The whole point is making the content feel native, not like a polished ad you’d scroll past.

You post short form videos to this account: “I found this app and it changed my life,” “POV you finally found an app that does X”, and the brand either:

1. Pays you for the raw video files so they can use them as ads elsewhere, or

2. Pays you to actually post and grow the account itself, or

3. Both!

Most tech UGC deals fall into option two, which is honestly why this feels so much more “passive” than other content work. You’re not performing. You’re not spending hours editing / scripting like regular UGC. You’re not tied to some audience that expects a specific version of you.

The Math That Actually Makes This Worth It

I wanna be specific here because vague income claims are exactly what makes this whole space feel sketchy to people. So here’s roughly how the pay actually breaks down.

Base pay per video: Most tech UGC gigs pay somewhere between $20-$40 per video, depending on the brand, the ask, and your negotiating position (we’ll get there).

Volume: A single client usually wants 30-40 videos a month. That’s like 1-2 videos a day, and these are short (10-30 seconds) Nothing produced, no fancy setup. Phone camera, natural light, you talking into the camera or doing a screen recording or overlay of the app. Genuinely that simple.

View bonuses: Okay this is the part that changes everything. On top of your flat per-video rate, a lot of brands will pay bonuses based on how the video performs. A common structure looks like: every 100K views a video gets, you earn an extra $100. So a video you got paid $30 for, that ends up popping off and hitting 300K views? That’s an extra $300 on top of your base. For one video!! And when you are posting 30 videos a month, you’d be surprised how many can blow up!

Plus bonuses on the ones that take off, plus multiple clients running at once, that’s how you actually get to $5K months. It’s not one viral video saving the day. It’s volume plus a bonus system that rewards content that works.

Why the Time Investment Is the Real Unlock

Okay here’s what actually made me stick with this over everything else I’d tried: each client takes me about 30-40 minutes a week.

Because you’re not managing a personal brand, you’re not responding to comments all day, you’re not maintaining some consistent personality across a million posts. You’re filming a batch of short videos, uploading them, and moving on with your life. A lot of creators batch film an entire month’s content for a client in one sitting and just never think about it again until the next batch.

This is genuinely the reason I think tech UGC deserves way more hype than it gets!

So Why Isn’t Everyone Doing This?

Honestly? Most people just don’t know it exists. And the people who do know about UGC in general default to thinking they need to be “the face” of their own content with a real following first. Tech UGC sidesteps all of that, which is exactly why it’s still way less saturated than beauty or fashion UGC, where every brand’s inbox is flooded with the same 50K follower girlies all pitching the exact same way.

There’s also a mindset thing going on. People hear “promote an app” and assume it requires some technical skill, or that brands only want creators who are already “tech savvy.” They don’t!! They want someone who can make a 20 second video that doesn’t feel like an ad. That is a way more learnable skill than people think, and you can prove you have it with literally zero dollars spent and zero followers, before a brand ever says yes to you.

What You Actually Need to Start

Just to be crystal clear on what this does and doesn’t require:

• A phone with a decent camera (yours is fine, I promise)

• A free TikTok or Instagram, separate from your personal one

• Comfort talking on camera OR doing a screen recording with a voiceover — your choice, both work

• A couple practice videos before you ever pitch a brand, so you have something to show

What it does NOT require:

tons of equipment, fancy editing software, an existing audience / following, a niche you’ve spent years building, or any technical background with the apps themselves.

Everything above is the “why.” Everything below is the “how”. The exact platform and communities I use to find brands, the pitches, my real rate structure, and the bonus math that turns a single video into hundreds of dollars. This is the part that actually gets you your first client.

If you’ve been posting consistently for weeks or even months and you’re still not making money online… this is for you. The first big issue is creating content without a purpose. A lot of people are posting just to post. They know they “should be consistent,” but they don’t actually decide what each post is supposed to do. Some content should build trust, some should educate, some should connect emotionally, and some should guide people toward an offer. But instead, most feeds are just random tips, trends, or aesthetic clips with no direction behind them. I used to post JUST to post. And my content would be so hollow. I didn’t have a purpose for posting and wasn’t posting with intention.

And when there’s no direction or intention, people might enjoy your content but they don’t move anywhere. They don’t know what to do next. They just scroll, like, and leave. Or they save it and never come back. It’s like walking into a store that looks beautiful but has no signs, no guidance, and no checkout. You’d probably just walk right out.

✿Your Profile Isn’t Set Up to Convert

Another thing most people overlook is their profile. You can have amazing content and still not convert views into money if your profile is unclear. Within a few seconds of someone landing on your page, they should know who you are, what you help with, and what they’re supposed to do next. But most creators spend all their energy on content and barely touch their bio, their pinned posts, or their overall positioning. And then they wonder why views don’t turn into income. I always used to prioritize aesthetics instead of conversions when setting up my accounts, and that was a mistake!

Your content might be doing its job, but your profile is silently stopping conversions.

✿You Don’t Actually Have an Offer

Then there’s the part nobody wants to hear, which is not actually having an offer. A lot of creators want to make money online, but they haven’t built anything to sell yet. Or they’re still “figuring it out.” But content alone doesn’t generate income. An offer does. Content just brings attention. The money comes from having something that actually solves a problem for that attention. And it doesn’t have to be complicated. It just has to exist.

✿You’re Talking to Everyone

Another major issue is talking to everyone. This one is huge. A lot of creators are afraid to niche down because they think it will limit growth, but the opposite usually happens. When your content is for everyone, it ends up connecting with no one. But when someone watches your content and feels like you’re speaking directly to their exact situation, that’s when trust builds fast. Specificity is what actually makes content memorable.

Generic content gets scrolled past. Specific content gets saved, shared, and remembered.

✿You’re Focusing on Followers Instead of Buyers

Something else people get stuck on is obsessing over followers instead of buyers. And this is where things really shift. Followers don’t necessarily equal income. Buyers do. You can have a huge audience and still struggle to make money if no one is actually positioned to buy from you. That’s why engagement signals like saves, DMs, clicks, and replies matter way more than just follower count. I have over 110K followers currently, and my highest paid month happened when I had 20K.

Because what matters is that people are the people actually paying attention and remembering you. If you have a bunch of followers but they aren’t active or engaged, it can really ruin your account.

✿You’re Missing a Customer Journey

Then there’s the missing customer journey. Most creators don’t realize they don’t have one. Someone finds your content, maybe follows you, and then… nothing. No nurturing, no deeper trust building, no structure guiding them from discovery to purchase. And without that, even good content loses its impact over time.

People don’t usually buy immediately. They buy after trust is built through repeated exposure and value. If that journey doesn’t exist, your content is basically just floating around without direction.

And honestly, one of the biggest hidden reasons people don’t succeed is perfectionism. Waiting until everything is perfect. The niche, the branding, the offer, the strategy, the aesthetic. Meanwhile, months go by and nothing is actually launched. The people who win online are rarely the ones who had it all figured out. The first week is where most people unintentionally delay themselves.

And the result is always the same. Nothing actually gets built.

So the goal in week one is not success. It is direction.

You are building a faceless content page that leads to income in some form. That is the foundation.

You are not choosing five methods. You are choosing a direction you can actually stay consistent with.

Start with simplicity:

• pick one broad niche you can create content in daily

• set up a clean page with a simple name and clear bio

• define who your content is for in one sentence

• start saving content in your niche to understand what performs

• observe patterns instead of trying to create everything immediately

Your bio should not be complicated. It should simply tell people what they will get from following you.

By the end of this week, you are not an expert. You are just no longer guessing.

I overthought this stage a lot when I started. I kept switching directions because I thought I was refining my strategy, but I was really just avoiding consistency. Once I picked one lane and stayed in it, everything started to make more sense.

That could mean selling your own digital product. It could mean affiliate marketing. It could mean faceless content. There are a lot of ways into it now. You don’t even need to create your own digital product to start earning, you can use someone else’s.

And the reason so many people are starting is because the barrier to entry is honestly low compared to most things.

You can start with your phone.
You can learn while you go.
You can build it around your life instead of rearranging your entire life around it.

That’s what pulled me into it in the first place, and now I’m living my dream life!

Most people spend way too much time consuming content and almost no time actually building something.

They’ll watch hours of videos about online income, save posts, research niches, brainstorm usernames, maybe even buy a course… and still never start.

And when nothing happens, it feels like it’s not working and they get confused.

But usually the issue isn’t timing or talent. It’s that nothing they’ve done has actually made it easy for a brand to say yes yet.

UGC is simple once you understand it, but it’s not passive at the beginning. You don’t get your first deal from posting and hoping. You get it from putting yourself in front of brands in a very intentional way and showing them you can create content they would actually use.🩷

Once that clicks, the whole process becomes a lot less confusing.✨

✿ what UGC actually is (and what it isn’t)

UGC is not being an influencer.

You are not being paid for your audience, your engagement, or your page. You are being paid to create content that brands can use for their own marketing, usually ads or organic posts.

So the focus shifts completely. It’s not about growing your socials or posting daily. It’s about whether your content looks like something a brand would actually post or run, and whether it is actually going to convert.

That means your job is to understand what performs well, what feels natural, and what would make someone stop scrolling and want to buy. Not to build a following before you start.

✿ what you actually need to get started

This part is way simpler than people make it.

You don’t need a fancy camera. You don’t need a studio. You don’t need a perfect setup or expensive gear.

A phone, decent lighting, and a clean background is enough. Most UGC content is filmed exactly like that because brands actually prefer content that feels real and unpolished rather than overly produced.

✿ your portfolio (keep it simple, not perfect)

Your portfolio is important, but it is not supposed to take over your entire first month.

You don’t need a full website or anything complicated. You just need a few examples that show you understand how to create content for brands.✨

The easiest way to do this is to use products you already have and film content as if a brand hired you. Keep it simple. A talking video, a voiceover, maybe a problem and solution style clip.

That is enough to start. You are not trying to prove you are already an expert; you are just showing that you understand the style of content brands use and that you can execute it.

And honestly, your portfolio will change quickly once you start getting real opportunities anyway, so there is no point delaying everything trying to make it perfect upfront.

✿ getting your first deal (this is where it actually happens)

This is the part most people either avoid or underestimate, and it is the reason they stay stuck.

You need to reach out to brands.

Not occasionally. Not when you feel ready. Consistently.

This is what actually creates your first opportunity.✨

The simplest way to do this is to start with brands you already use or see regularly. Then pay attention to which brands are actively running ads on TikTok or Instagram. If a brand is spending money on ads, they already understand the value of content, which makes them far more likely to pay for UGC.🩷

From there, you just start reaching out with a short, clear message. You don’t need anything fancy. Introduce yourself, say what you do, and briefly explain how you can help them with content. The biggest mistake people make here is overexplaining themselves instead of focusing on what the brand actually cares about.

If you are unsure how to structure this or what to say, I put together some free outreach templates. That includes the emails I use and how I adjust them depending on the brand so you are not guessing every time you sit down to pitch.

When you get a response, it is usually pretty straightforward. They might ask for your portfolio, your rates, or more details on what you offer, or they might even say no.

This is where people tend to overthink again, but there is no need to.

At this stage, your first deal is not about optimizing income. It is about getting experience and proof. Once you have worked with a brand, everything becomes easier because now you are not just saying you can do it, you have evidence.

Rates, structure, and confidence all come with experience. Your first deal is just the entry point.🩷

It usually comes down to inconsistency, not ability.

People start, stop, restart, change their approach, redo their portfolio, then repeat the cycle. Nothing compounds like that.

Most people get a couple of “no’s” from brands and feel completely discouraged. Even as a full time creator, I am constantly getting rejected. It’s completely normal.

UGC rewards repetition more than anything else. The creators who land deals are usually not the most polished or the most experienced. They are just the ones who kept going long enough for things to click.✨

✿ what I would do if I started again

If I had to start over, I would not spend weeks preparing anything.

I would film a few simple portfolio videos in one day, set up a basic way to show them, and start pitching the same day.

Then I would make outreach part of my daily routine instead of something I do randomly when I feel like it. I would use templates so I am not rewriting everything every time, and I would pull brands that I felt connected with, and brands that I knew were working with creators already.

You guys are constantly asking questions about what exactly they need to post on Pinterest in order to monetize, so I am just going to walk you through exactly how I think about affiliate marketing on Pinterest, what actually works for me, and what I post to make it consistent and scalable without burning out.✨

★Shift Your Mindset: Pinterest is About Intent

The first shift that changed everything for me was understanding intent. On Pinterest, people are not just scrolling to be entertained. They are searching for things they need answers to:

• “Easy home organization hacks”

These are buyers. They are literally looking for inspo on what to buy. They are already halfway to purchasing. Your job is just to show them something that feels like the obvious next step.✨

Certain types of posts consistently do better than others. The best performing pins are clear, specific, and slightly curiosity driven. Not clickbait, but enough to make someone think about adding to cart.

Here are some examples that work well in fashion, décor, and skincare:

• “Skincare Products I Wish I Started Using Sooner”

• “Affordable Home Décor That Feels Luxe”

★How I Design Pins That Stop the Scroll

When I create my templates in Canva, I always design with the goal of stopping the scroll. I am not just making something pretty. I am making something that communicates value in literally two seconds.

Most of my pins are very text forward. Clean background, strong hook, minimal clutter. I stick to the same fonts, colors, and general layout. That consistency matters more than people think because it builds recognition over time. Even if someone does not click the first time, they start to recognize your content.

One thing that has made a huge difference is creating multiple variations of the same idea. If I have one affiliate product or topic I want to promote, I will turn that into five to ten different pins.✨

For example, let’s say I am promoting activewear. I could create pins like:

• “My Go To Pilates Outfit Formula”

• “Activewear Must Haves For Spring”

• “Most Flattering Activewear Faves”

• “Outfits That Will Make Your Workout 10x Better”

• “Yoga Outfits That Make Me Feel Confident”

All of these lead back to the same link but speak to slightly different angles and audiences.

★Why Templates Save You Time

Templates save so much time because I am not redesigning from scratch every time. I just swap out the text, maybe adjust an image, and keep it moving. It turns content creation into a system instead of something that depends on motivation.

This has been my biggest hack and literally the reason I’ve been able to stay consistent with affiliate marketing. It is so much easier to swap out a few photos on a template than create something from scratch every single time you want to post.✨

I always focus on pairing visuals with the hook. If your pin says “Affordable Home Décor,” the image should clearly show styled décor items. If it says “Skincare Routine,” it might show products, a vanity setup, or lifestyle visuals that match the vibe.

I design my Canva templates to be flexible enough to work across niches but still feel cohesive. Whether I am posting about fashion, skincare, or décor, everything still looks like it came from the same brand. And that consistency builds trust.🩷

No one is clicking your link if your content feels random or low effort. But when everything looks intentional and aligned, it builds credibility. People assume you know what you are doing.

★Titles That Actually Work

Your title is doing most of the work. It needs to be clear, attention grabbing, and specific enough to stand out in search results.

Instead of something like “Cute Spring Outfits,” I would write:
“Spring Outfits That Make Getting Dressed So Much Easier”

Instead of “Skincare Tips,” I would write:
“Skincare Products That Gave Me My First Glowing Skin Routine”

The difference is subtle but huge. One feels generic. The other feels personal and experience based.

I usually write out a bunch of title ideas first, or get ChatGPT to help me brainstorm, almost like a brain dump, and then pick the ones that feel natural and slightly intriguing. You do not need to overthink SEO. Just use words that people are actually typing into Pinterest.

★Batch Content, Avoid Burnout

A lot of people think you need to post a huge volume of pins every day. That can work, but it is not realistic long term. What works better is batching content and using templates so you can create a lot in a short amount of time.✨

I will sit down, open Canva, pick a category like fashion or décor, and create multiple pins in one session. Same fonts, same colors, same structure. It becomes automatic.

★The Power of Pairings

Instead of posting one random product, I group things together in a way that makes sense.

When people land on your page, everything should match that same energy. Clean, valuable, easy to understand. It looks professional.🩷

If you are feeling overwhelmed, simplify it down to this:

• Focus on what people are already searching for

• Create clear, scroll stopping pins

• Use templates to stay consistent

• Test multiple angles for the same idea

• Think in terms of value and systems, not just single posts

Because it’s not about you, it’s about what people are searching for.

Which means you’re not chasing attention, you’re positioning yourself in front of it.

Your content doesn’t disappear after 24 hours, it can bring in traffic for weeks, months, even longer.

And you don’t need to show your face at all!

You can create simple, aesthetic, value driven pins that lead directly to:

• your products

• your affiliate links

• your email list

If I was starting over, I would 100% be using Pinterest as my main traffic source, because it removes so much pressure.

You’re not trying to be entertaining or go viral

Before filming anything or messaging brands, you need clarity.

Not a hyper specific niche. Not a box that traps you. Just basic direction.

Ask yourself:

💓 What are my skills? (video editing, script writing, converting content, etc)
💓 Do I enjoy talking on camera or prefer voiceovers?
💓 Do I naturally gravitate toward beauty, fashion, wellness, apps, lifestyle, or products around the home?

2. Understand what brands are actually hiring UGC creators for

Brands are not hiring you because you want to be a creator.

They are hiring you because they need content.

They need ads.
They need testimonials.
They need website assets.
They need social proof.
They need content that feels real, not polished influencer ads.

When you understand this, you stop thinking “what should I post” and start thinking “what problem am I solving for this brand?”💡

This mindset alone will put you ahead of most beginners because brands truly want a creator that can help them sell, in a natural, not overly salesy way.⭐️

3. Learn the difference between UGC and influencer content

This one matters more than people realize.

UGC is not about followers.
UGC does not require you to post.
UGC is not about building an audience first.

UGC is about creating assets for brands to use on their platforms.

Because you may not have the followers or feed to prove you are worthy, you must master your portfolio and content examples. This way, brands can actually see why they should hire you. If you are sending cold pitches to brands with absolutely no example work to back you up, I promise you are not going to be hired.😅

Once you truly understand this, you will realize the point of UGC is to focus on skills.💓

4. Get your filming basics down without overcomplicating it

Let’s get this straight:

You do not need a camera.
You do not need fancy lights.
You do not need a studio.

Your phone is enough.

What actually matters:

• Good natural light.

• A clean background.

• Clear audio.

• Basic editing skills.

That is it.

Most beginners delay starting because they think they need better equipment when what they actually need is practice. My biggest advice is to film with a clean camera, in natural lighting with a light colored background and no clutter.

Start simple. Improve as you go.🎀

5. Create sample content before you ever pitch a brand

This is where most people get stuck.

They think, “I need a brand deal to make content.”

You do not, and you most likely won’t be able to get a brand deal without sample content.

You need sample content to get a brand deal.

Create three to five videos using products you already own or generic product angles. These do not need to be sponsored. Brands understand that.

What they want to see is:

• Can you speak naturally on camera?

• Can you structure a video?

• Can you showcase a product clearly?

If you are not sure what to film, take inspo from other creators! (without completely copying them) There are so many amazing creators out there! Look at what’s already working, and implement it!💓

6. Build a simple portfolio, not a perfect one

Your portfolio does not need to be fancy.

It needs to be clear.

A simple Canva template, Notion page, or basic website is enough.

Include:

• A short intro about you.

• Your sample videos.

• Any relevant experience.

• Your contact information.

That is it.

Brands care way more about seeing your content than how aesthetic your portfolio looks.📝

7. Learn basic UGC pricing before you pitch anyone

Please do not pitch brands without understanding pricing.

This is how people end up doing three videos for a number they regret.

You do not need to have premium rates on day one. But you do need a baseline understanding of what is reasonable and how pricing works.

Pricing confidence comes from clarity, not courage.🎀

8. Get pitch ready before you start sending messages

Pitching without a plan is exhausting.

Random DMs.
Over explaining.
Apologizing for your rates.
Second guessing every word.

You do not need to reinvent the wheel here.

Your pitch does not need to be perfect. It just needs to be professional and easy to understand for the brand!💓

9. Set boundaries early so you do not get taken advantage of

This part matters more than people think, and I wish someone had warned me about it before I got taken advantage of a few too many times.😅

Decide early:

• How many revisions do you allow?

• What usage rights are included?

• Your turnaround time.

• When payment is due.

You are not being difficult. You are being professional.📝

Setting boundaries early actually makes brands trust you more, and will overall benefit you in the long run.⭐️

10. Accept that this is a skill and give yourself time

This is the part I want you to really hear.

UGC is not instant.

Yes, anyone can start.
No, not everyone will succeed overnight.

You are learning how to:

• Be on camera.

• Communicate clearly.

• Edit content.

• Understand brands.

• Sell without sounding salesy.

The Truth About Online Courses

Online courses have a reputation problem.🤷🏽‍♀️

Say the words “online course” and half the internet immediately thinks scam, cash grab, recycled PDFs, someone selling a lifestyle instead of a skill. And honestly… I get why.

I’m not here to pretend there aren’t bad courses out there. There are. A lot of them. There are creators who slapped together surface level information, promised unrealistic timelines, and made it sound like this “get rich quick” plan.

But here’s the part that rarely gets said.

The problem isn’t online courses as a concept. The problem is how people buy them, how they’re sold, and the expectations attached to them.

I want to talk about this honestly, from someone who has been on both sides. Someone who used to feel skeptical, who has bought courses that did absolutely nothing for me, and who has also taken courses that genuinely changed the trajectory of my work and income.🤍

This is not a post to convince you to buy a course.

It’s a post to help you think more clearly about them, and to help you think more carefully about what and who you’re buying from.✨

Why online courses got such a bad reputation

The online course era moved fast, too fast.

When people started seeing others make money online, courses became the fastest way to package knowledge and scale it. Which is honestly great, we are extremely lucky to live in a time where we can learn completely online. But then something shifted…

Suddenly everyone was teaching.

Some people were one step ahead of their audience. Some had never actually done the thing they were teaching consistently. Some had a few good months and turned that into a promise.

People didn’t just buy information. They bought hope.

And when hope doesn’t turn into results, the label becomes scam.🤷🏽‍♀️

The mistake most people make when buying a course

Most people do not fail courses. They buy the wrong ones for the wrong reasons.

They buy because they feel behind, they buy because they want certainty, they buy because they think the course will replace effort instead of directing it.

A course cannot do the work for you. It cannot create success on your behalf. It cannot make decisions for you when things feel uncomfortable.

What it can do is:

• It can organize information.

• It can give you a framework and education.

But only if you treat it like a tool, not a shortcut.💌✨

A course is not a promise

When people are purchasing something from me, whether thats a guide, ebook, course, template, etc. I have to be very clear with them.

A course is not a promise of results.

It shows you how someone else thinks about a problem.

It gives you context for why certain things work and why others don’t.

The value is not in copying exactly what they did. The value is in understanding how to apply the thinking to your own situation.

And as someone who has bought an insane amount of online courses and still felt completely lost, once I stopped expecting courses to hand me outcomes and started using them to sharpen my decision making, they became infinitely more useful.💌

Why some courses change lives and others do nothing

I’ve seen the same course completely change one person’s life and do absolutely nothing for another.

And it is not an accident.

• Timing matters.

• Readiness matters.

• Personal responsibility matters.

If you are looking for motivation, no course will save you.

If you are looking for clarity, structure, and direction, the right course can change everything.

Courses work best for people who have already decided they are going to act. They just want to stop wasting time doing the wrong things.

How to decide if a course is worth buying

This is the part that sooo many people need to hear.

Before you buy anything, ask yourself a few very specific questions.

• Do I trust how this person thinks, not just what they teach

• Can they explain the why behind their strategies

• Do they acknowledge tradeoffs and effort instead of selling ease

• Does their free content already make me think differently

If the answer is no, don’t buy. Simple as that!🤷🏽‍♀️

Red flags I no longer ignore

There are a few things you should take seriously now.

• Overpromising timelines.

• Guarantees that remove personal responsibility.

• Messaging that makes it sound like the course is the missing piece instead of a support tool.

If the marketing feels like it’s trying to convince rather than explain, then take it as a sign to pause.

Why calling all courses a scam is too simple

Labeling all courses as scams is an understandable reaction, but it’s also not a realistic one.

It treats education as something that should only exist in one format.

We don’t call books a scam because some are bad.

We don’t call university a scam because some degrees don’t lead to jobs.

We learn how to choose better.

Online education deserves the same level of discernment, not blind trust or blind rejection.💌🤷🏽‍♀️

The real scam

If there is a real scam, it’s this belief.

That success should come without effort, discomfort, or responsibility.

No course can protect you from that.

The people who get the most out of courses are not lucky. They are intentional. They ask better questions. They apply selectively. They take ownership of their outcomes.

That mindset matters more than the price tag.

Final thoughts

If you’re skeptical about online courses, that doesn’t make you negative. It makes you discerning.✨

The goal isn’t to buy more courses.

It’s to buy better ones. Or none at all, if that’s the right choice for you.

And if you’re reselling a course, ask yourself first;

• Would I be disappointed if I spent my own money on this?

• Is this genuinely a tool I think can help someone?

• Do I align with what’s being taught inside this course?

Education is a tool. Like any tool, it’s only as powerful as the person using it.🤷🏽‍♀️
