Is your greatest love of all in this life actually yourself?

For this episode of Pull the Panties to the Side, I interviewed and photographed the courageous, charismatic, gorgeous and award-winning filmmaker Mariette Monpierre, in New York. It was amazing to meet a woman so aligned with my philosophies on self pleasure and empowered with her own sexuality. Thank the universe for bringing us together!

Mariette was born in Guadeloupe, raised in Paris, and is currently manifesting an Oscar at home in the French West Indies We covered all of it- sexual shame, slavery, childhood masturbation, working in the ad world, healing and of course- self-pleasure.

We talked about growing up in a house where “don’t come back pregnant” was the only sex-ed, her experience with orgasmic meditation (yes, she showed up to Nicole Daedone's One Taste club in her yoga leggings expecting downward dog and got something entirely different), and why guiding your partner through pleasure is one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself.

We also got into the shame surrounding slavery and self pleasure, the burden of sexual assault and why self-pleasure should be as non-negotiable as brushing your teeth.

This summer, Mariette will be filming her documentary Six Moons in Guadeloupe, where she will chronicle the stories of 6 Caribbean women burdened by shame around sexuality, abuse and generational trauma.

Oh — and Guadeloupe apparently has a Creole phrase for “pull the panties to the side.” Universal language. Love it! I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did.

*** Note: We speak about slavery throughout the world and after I researched, it became apparent that every civilization has had some sort of forced labor or slavery except Iceland. ( Contrary to what I said in the episode, Australia was not exempt. It seems there is some nasty history with Aboriginal child prostitution. )

Her first feature-length “Elza (Le Bonheur d’Elza)” was the NY Times Critics’ Pick when released at the theater and won several awards including the BAFTA Choice Award, “Between 2 Shores” a story about two immigrants from the Dominican Republic aired on PBS/AfroPop series. In 2019, she directed 2 documentaries “Soldiers of the Earth” and “Towards Mecca” aired on France Televisions.

Since I have been living the sober life for the last 5 years, we didn’t talk about his perfect Old Fashioned recipe. We talked about the recipe for getting down and giving love. Much more divine and interesting, if you ask me!

Libido Killers & Secret Key to Turning ON

Here are the top 5 libido killers according to the divine. Read on to the end for my Cure. (Hint: You will need to Break out the 90s jams. )

1. Stress-What brings more stress than money worries? Those insecurities create a Root chakra imbalance which will dead your kitty cat.

If you are in your head about how to pay your bills or afford to go on a trip you know you need to reset, your kitty will most certainly be narcoleptic.

Finances are the root of so much stress but we all know relationships, housing security, work and family can also take over our thoughts.

This age of productivity causes so much stress at work and we often don’t leave it there because we are constantly connected to our devices.

Spiritual awakening can also be stressful! Your intuition is buzzing with pings and if you are having trouble answering your call, it can lead to extreme stress.

2. BIG Carb Loading Meals -Do not eat a pasta bowl or 3 slices of pizza and then expect to want to get-off. Gluten and carbs are total libido killers.

3. Too much Booze!

Drink Less & Give more

Drink less and have more energy to give love to yourself and others.

Being sober has totally ignited my love life- with myself. I no longer use wine to cope with stress and it has been such a game changer. I still love to sit at the bar for the social connection, but I do not need the toxins. Excessive drinking is actually now a turn-off for me in a partner.

Other pesky blocks that may be leaving you or your partner unsatisfied-

4. Shame- shame is a tricky one. We often feel it and are unaware.

Dig deep through meditation to find the source, acknowledge it and release a bitch through dance and mirror work!

Tell yourself how much you love yourself and forgive anything that is bringing the shame. Its not worth holding onto. Talk sweet to your body. Tell your ass she is looking FINE.

Through my spiritual evaluations in Goddess Activation sessions, we identify hidden sources of shame so you can move on from them using spiritual guidance.

5. Depression: Depression can leave you disconnected from your body, feeling numb. It’s not just sadness, it is also apathy. I know that’s how it shows up for me.

• Plan a trip! -I just wrapped up a game changing trip to New Orleans. Fresh surroundings can make a world of difference. Create a pinterest board for your dream vacation or just book a weekend reset.

• Aromatherapy- light a yummy candle, or use a scented essential oil in your body oil. ( I love rose oil, but just for self-love. Men are not down with it. )

• Read or listen to erotic fiction. If you have any favorite writers, be sure to leave them in the comments below, so we can all get a buzz!

• Mirror Work- Take some sacred selfies! Tell yourself how beautiful, smart and lovable you are.

Dear YouTube,

Why are you insisting that readers censor tarot cards with nipples on them?

What does that protect people from? We all came out of the womb and sucked a tit. ON our first day on Earth. So, what changes between the ages of 2 and 13 that you can’t see a nipple on one anymore? ( male nipples are for some reason fine..)

We need to get over this sexual repression and move forth from the nudity taboo. Artists have represented the beauty of the human nude form since the beginning of time. YouTube creators are making art. There is art on these cards. Let people express themselves and nature.

How about we censor gun pics instead? A tit never hurt nobody!
