Happy Wednesday, dear friend and reader,

I hope your week is going well.

Most students are heading back to school around this time, but we’re blessed to still have two more weeks of summer break. Of course, that also means it’s time to start getting ready—shopping for school uniforms, picking up the last few things the kids need, and attempting to adjust sleep schedules.

I say attempting because my kids would much rather enjoy every last late morning and deal with waking up early on the first day of school. 😂

But we parents can’t stop trying to encourage them to prepare ahead, right?

Now, onto books…

One of the most inspiring stories in the Bible for me has always been the book of Job. His story of loss, faith, perseverance, and restoration has stayed with me for years, so at some point, I knew I had to write a romance inspired by it.

And that became Eric and Joy’s story.

If you’re looking for an emotional Christian romance that might make you cry, make you laugh, and hopefully leave you praising God by the end, this is one I’d love for you to read.

I felt every twist and turn while writing Eric and Joy. The heartbreak, the questions, moments of laughter, and finally, the real victory on the other side. Hearing from readers who were encouraged and inspired by their journey has made this story even more special to me.

Happy Wednesday, dear friend and reader,

I hope your August is off to a great start!

We finally made it camping, and it turned out to be one of the easiest camping trips we’ve ever taken. I think what made it so easy was the lack of planning.

We decided the night before that the next day was the perfect time to go. All we needed were sleeping bags, sleep pads, a tent, and, of course, s’mores. We had hot dogs for dinner and pastries for breakfast. Nothing fancy, and somehow, that made it even better.

I usually likes to plan out a trip, but after this spontaneous little getaway, I thought maybe I need more impromptu trips like this. If I spent less time trying to plan the perfect getaway, we might actually fit in more of them.

Happy Wednesday, dear friend and reader,

Whenever August arrives, it hits me that the year is already winding down. It marks the end of summer fun for the kids and the beginning of another busy season for both kids and parents. I also start thinking about all the things we haven’t done yet.

Like camping.

We’ve talked about going all summer, and we finally penciled in some dates—but now it’s supposed to rain. We could definitely use the moisture, especially with the fires, but I was still hoping for a few more pool days and fewer rainy ones.

We’ll see how much outdoor time we can squeeze in while still appreciating the rain. We really do need it.

As I begin planning a new story, I’m reminded of how difficult it can be to start that first chapter—and even harder to write the first line. That single sentence can pull a reader deeper into the story or make them set the book aside.

Before I write the first chapter, I pray for wisdom, direction, creativity, and the time to tell the story well. Life brings plenty of distractions and obstacles, which can be difficult to quiet my mind enough to create.

That’s one reason your prayers mean so much to me—not only for my writing, but for everything happening behind the scenes.

Sunshine, Stories, and What’s Next!!💕

Happy Wednesday, dear friend and reader,

I’m grateful for another week of sunshine and long summer days. We’ve stayed busy catching up with family and friends we don’t see as often when school is in session.

As for books, I want to thank you for your continued support and excitement for my stories. Every time you read one of my books, I feel humbled and encouraged to keep writing. I’ve also been receiving such positive reviews for Yours Forever, which always reminds me to thank God for giving me the opportunity to write.

This morning, I journaled about my next story. I didn’t write about the plot itself. Instead, I wrote a prayer for guidance, time, and the right readers who may need to hear that story.

I’ll keep you updated once I begin writing, but it seems our friends in Meadowbrook are ready for another couple to make an appearance. That will most likely be my next project.

I also have a few short novella drafts waiting on my computer. If time allows, I may edit one of the fall stories set in Meadowbrook.

I hope you’re having a wonderful summer so far. Ours has been going well. We recently took a road trip to Padre Island, and it turned out to be such a special time of bonding as a family. Along the way, we stopped to explore some of the cities we drove through in Texas, which made the trip even more memorable.

The weather wasn’t too bad either. It was mostly overcast, which ended up being perfect for enjoying our beach days.

Happy May! And happy Wednesday, dear friend and reader,

Time continues to race ahead. My kids have started their countdown to the end of the school year now that summer is upon us. We’ve had the mildest winter and spring I’ve ever seen since I came to this country. I usually talk about snow in my newsletter during the winter and spring, but this year there’s little to say about that. The kids haven’t had a snow day from school and it’s already May. Spring hasn’t brought many showers either.

But guess what? As I’m in the middle of writing this email, God has sent a downpour. There’s even a possibility of snow later in the day. Maybe there might be a snow day after all! My kids are hoping.

WORK IN PROGRESS

I try not to keep track of word counts since I write what I feel and when time allows. I also try to aim for at least one chapter whenever I sit down to write, but sometimes I’m lucky to get half a chapter written.

This time, I’ve been writing and editing as I go rather than writing an entire draft and coming back to clean it up later.

With God’s help, I’d like to finish this story before the kids get out of school on May 22nd. When you think of me, please say a little prayer for me.

Happy Wednesday, dear friend and reader,

I hope your week has been going well. I almost didn’t get around to sending this newsletter. My kids had a four-day weekend, and we finally got the chance to celebrate our ten-year-old’s birthday with his friends. We hosted a sleepover, and the boys were determined to stay up all night. They finally fell asleep at 4:30. Now that the party is over, tonight, I plan to be in bed as early as 8:00 p.m.

Now onto books...
