We have four sorts: MPC No., Alpha-numeric, Period (yrs.) and Inclination. There are now four named objects with an inclination > 90°, which means they have a retrograde (Rx) orbit around the Sun. 20461 Dioretsa was the first Rx asteroid/centaur (discovered in 1999), with the befitting name of asteroid spelled backwards. Astronomers generally regard these objects as unnatural or unoriginal to the rest of the Solar System, perhaps having been captured long ago in a close encounter with our as-yet-undiscovered companion star system “Nemesis” or from the Oort Cloud.

As of the current tally, there are 895,910 MPC-numbered objects (excluding comets), 27 of them that are Rx, of which four are named (shown below). How many might receive names, we have no idea. We can track any of these, though, for astrologers interested who want an ephemeris.

But here’s what that doesn’t mean: It doesn’t mean everyone’s clock reads the same time at that moment. Before 1883, nobody’s clock read the same time as anyone else’s — unless they happened to be standing on the same meridian. Every observer between 0° and 15°E experiences that New Moon at a different clock reading — spaced 4 minutes apart per degree of longitude. That’s Earth’s rotation. That’s geometry. That’s unavoidable.

What synchronization does — and doesn’t — change:

If the observer at 7.5°E synchronizes their clock to Greenwich time — setting it to 12:00 instead of 12:30 — their clock now reads the wrong LMT for their location. The New Moon still occurs when Earth has rotated to that specific angle. The Moon doesn’t consult the synchronized clock. She’s at the position corresponding to 12:30 LMT at 7.5°E — not 12:00.

Synchronizing the clock doesn’t move the observer to a TZ meridian or to Greenwich. It just makes their clock lie about where they are, just as all of our standard astrology software does, unfortunately, when calculating the planets.

The teleportation/Superman/telephone call confusion:

These analogies assume that because UT1 is a single global value, every observer’s relationship to that value is identical. It isn’t. UT1 is a global value referenced to Greenwich. Pre-1883 the relationship was: LMT = UT1 - longitude. All LMTs were different from GMT (UT1) at this single global moment.

Two people 12 feet apart in longitude at 30°N latitude experience the same New Moon approximately 0.01 second apart in LMT — LATER (on his clock) if east. Synchronized clocks mask that difference. They don’t eliminate it. The same 0.01 second difference will show up on a clock that’s arbitrarily synchronized, too.

Geocentric/Tropical/Meridian

The reason an astronomer calibrates a telescope (e.g., at 119°W) for its LMT is precisely because of this equation. The perilune (closest that Orion was to the Moon - body center) was on Apr. 6, 23:00:45.689 UT at 8281.2582453 km or 5145.73531 miles (11° Sag 40'28.649" Rx - geocentric). Orion was closest to the Moon’s surface (using Horizons center radii = 1737.4 km) at 6543.8582453 km or 4066.16497 miles. From Earth’s perspective, Orion went Rx from 2026-04-06, 17:02 UT until 2026-04-07, 5:13 UT, as it passed behind our Moon - a 12h11m period during which it reached perilune and apogee, which explains also the loss of signal to and from the capsule that we all experienced watching NASA’s live streaming.

The above calculations are based on the Final update: 2026-04-10, 19:28 UT. As expected, the trajectory changed slightly after Orion passed behind the Moon on Apr. 7, 2026, again slightly with the Apr. 9 and 10 updates. Splashdown (in the Pacific Ocean near San Diego) was scheduled by NASA for 2026-04-10, 7:07:06 pm CDT (the actual time = 7:07:27 pm CDT or 2026-04-11, 0:16:15 UT1 w/geog. coord. = 117°48'W, 32°18'N). Note: The chart below is based on the longitude of the splashdown site, not the time zone meridian.

The revised JPL Horizons ephemeris for this mission ended at 2026-04-10, 23:53:13.672 UT. This coincides roughly with the “entry interface (122 km above Earth),” according to the notes. The distance of Orion in Horizons was 6,519.2360023 km. Subtracting the Earth radii of 6,378.137 km equals 141.099 km above Earth or ~19 km difference. 2) An alternative precessional Age structure based on variable rising arcs calibrated against the Great Pyramid’s metrology, offering a quantitative model that aligns more closely with observable historical turning points than the conventional fixed 2,160-year Ages (see https://rscott51.substack.com/p/precessional-age-structure-and-great).

On November 10, 2025, Tom wrote to me about the Delta-T paper:

• “All this said, this is undoubtably a valuable piece of work that should be disseminated (with appropriate qualification). Thank you for submitting it.”

At his request, I forwarded my email exchange with Jon Giorgini (JPL Horizons). Tom compiled the exchange and uploaded it to the contributor portal for reviewer reference.

He also asked for a clearer abstract focused on practical implications for astrologers and suggested contacting the Swiss Ephemeris authors for a response. I gladly agreed to both.

Yet both papers were ultimately declined. The rejection letter cited “scope, style of research and relevance to our audience,” and stated that the revised Pyramids study did not address prior reviewer concerns.

I find this difficult to reconcile. I had fully addressed the reviewer’s prior concerns in the revised version of the Pyramid paper.

🔍 Why It Matters

The Delta-T audit is not abstract modeling — it directly affects lunar positions, the fastest-moving body in any chart. Even small discrepancies in ΔT translate into arcminute-level errors in Moon longitude, which matter for tight transits, progressions, solar arcs, and lunar returns. The paper provides verifiable links so anyone can compare SE and Horizons outputs at the same epochs.

The precessional structure paper offers a testable alternative to a long-standing assumption in mundane and evolutionary astrology. Both are technical critiques grounded in data, exactly the kind of “methodological innovation and critique” the journal claims to welcome.

If a research journal devoted to astrology is not interested in whether the ephemeris we use daily is as accurate as current high-precision standards allow via proper ΔT modeling, or in fresh quantitative approaches to the precessional cycle, then what exactly constitutes “relevance to our audience”?

I welcome thoughtful feedback, independent verifications, or discussions — especially from researchers who routinely work with lunar timing, progressions, or long-cycle astrology.

This article explains why legacy node and apsis tables are inherently approximate by design; why their continued use introduces systematic, non-random errors; and why the only defensible path forward is event-based calculation using JPL Horizons rather than Keplerian abstractions. All tables linked below include live JPL Horizons and Swiss Ephemeris (SE) verification links at each epoch, allowing every claim to be independently tested.

1. What a lunar node or apsis actually is

A lunar node, physically defined, is the moment when the Moon’s apparent ecliptic latitude crosses zero—changing sign from north to south or vice versa.
A lunar apsis (perigee or apogee) is the moment when the Moon’s distance from Earth reaches a true local minimum or maximum.

These are events, not orbital parameters.

They are defined by observable conditions:

• β(t) = 0 with sign change (node)

• dΔ/dt = 0 (apsis)

Any method that does not directly evaluate these conditions is, by definition, computing something else.

2. Mean nodes, true nodes, and the category error

Most ephemerides—most notably the Swiss Ephemeris—provide two types of nodes:

• Mean node:
  A long-term averaged orbital element derived from semi-analytical lunar theory (ELP 2000-85), fitted to JPL DE431.

• True node:
  The node of an osculating Keplerian orbit—the instantaneous ellipse tangent to the Moon’s trajectory at a given epoch.

Both are mathematically valid constructs.
Neither represents the physical moment of ecliptic crossing.

This distinction is not controversial. It has been explicitly acknowledged by the developers of the SE themselves.^1,3

The problem arises when these orbital abstractions are rebranded—implicitly or explicitly—as “observed” or “actual” lunar nodes.

They are not.

3. Why trigonometry does not solve the problem

Some have claimed that trigonometric reconstruction of the Moon’s position can recover a so-called “observed node.”² Such arguments fail on methodological grounds.

Trigonometry can compute positions.
It cannot redefine what constitutes an event.

Unless the latitude sign change is explicitly evaluated over time, no amount of positional reconstruction identifies a node as physically defined. Private calculations, unpublished formulas, or appeals to authority do not alter this fact.

In scientific practice, non-reproducible calculations are not evidence.

4. Horizons vs. legacy algorithms: precision is not cosmetic

Most legacy lunar tables rely on late–20th-century lunar theories (e.g., Chapront’s ELP series). While excellent for their time, they are approximations.

By contrast, JPL Horizons:

• Uses numerical integration tied to modern planetary ephemerides (DE440/DE441),

• Incorporates LLR, EOP updates, and relativistic corrections,

• Delivers millimeter-level distance accuracy and sub-milliarcsecond positional precision.

Differences between Meeus-based tables and Horizons routinely exceed 40 km in lunar distance, sufficient to:

• Misidentify the most extreme perigee or apogee of a year,

• Shift node times by seconds to minutes,

• Alter declination and out-of-bounds status.

Precision at this level is not pedantry. For any work involving apsides, nodes, eclipses, SuperMoons, or fine angular thresholds, it is determinative.

5. A demonstrable alternative: event-based computation

It is entirely feasible—today—to compute:

• Every lunar node and apsis

• To millimeter distance precision

• And to 0.001-second timing accuracy

by directly evaluating Horizons data for:

• latitude sign changes (nodes),

• distance extrema (apsides).

Authoritative lists constructed this way already exist, covering the 19th–21st centuries, with:

• Live verification links,

• Full RA/Dec/longitude/latitude data,

• Explicit declination and OOB status,

• Side-by-side comparisons with SE outputs.

The contrast is unambiguous: SE’s nodes and apsides are orbital abstractions; Horizons identifies physical events.

Even SE developers have demonstrated that event-based computation is possible in principle.⁴ Its absence in mainstream software today reflects institutional inertia, not technical limitation.

6. The path forward

Astrology—and astronomy—must eventually choose between:

• inherited convenience, and

• physical definition.

Event-based calculation does not invalidate symbolic practice. It simply restores terminological honesty and numerical fidelity. A lunar node is not where an ellipse says it should be. It is where the Moon actually crosses the ecliptic. That distinction matters.

The solution is straightforward:

• Treat apsides and nodes as fixed physical events, not moving geometric points

• Use JPL Horizons as the authoritative source for event timing

• Validate alternative ephemerides against Horizons, not against legacy tables

• Publish lists with transparent verification links, not opaque authority claims

I have compiled such lists for the period 1850–2050 CE, with millimeter-accurate distances, 0.001-second timing, full coordinate sets (RA, DEC, longitude, latitude), OOB status, and live SE and Horizons verification links for every epoch.

No prior published tables provide this level of precision or transparency.

Batch retrieval of Swiss Ephemeris distance data via the swetest CGI demonstrates that event-based lunar apsides can be verified in practice, with tens of epochs processed in seconds, undermining claims that physically defined apsides are computationally prohibitive.

Astrology does not advance by defending approximations when the exact solutions are publicly available. It advances by aligning interpretation with reality.

7. Black Moon Lilith and the Apogee Fallacy

Any rigorous discussion of the lunar apogee must address Black Moon Lilith (BML), which is widely described in astrological literature as either the Moon’s apogee or a closely related construct. Nearly all standard definitions, however, conflate orbital abstractions with physical events, resulting in persistent confusion.

Astrological reference sources typically present Lilith in one of two ways: (1) as the second focus of the Moon’s elliptical orbit, or (2) as the Moon’s apogee, defined as the point on an elliptical orbit furthest from Earth. Both definitions are geometric abstractions. Neither corresponds to an observable astronomical event.

The Moon does not travel on a fixed Keplerian ellipse, nor does it possess a single, stable apogee point. A physically meaningful apogee is not a point on an orbit but a moment in time—the instant at which the Moon’s geocentric distance reaches a true local maximum. This event can only be identified by evaluating the Moon’s distance continuously over time.

Swiss Ephemeris documentation explicitly acknowledges this limitation, stating that the osculating apogee is a mathematical construct and conceding that its value is “pure imagination” except at two specific configurations: when the osculating apogee is in exact conjunction or opposition to the Moon.⁵ Even this limited concession, however, does not withstand empirical verification. When those very epochs are evaluated against the Moon’s actual geocentric distance—as computed by JPL Horizons—the analytic apogee does not coincide with the true distance extrema. There are, in fact, no epochs at which the osculating apogee corresponds to the Moon being most distant from Earth, not twice monthly and not at all. The discrepancy is not numerical but conceptual: a Keplerian abstraction is being mistaken for a physical event.

When queried at identical UT epochs using the same underlying ephemeris (DE441), Swiss Ephemeris and JPL Horizons return virtually identical instantaneous lunar distances—often agreeing to the millimeter.⁶ This confirms that numerical ephemeris precision is not the source of disagreement. The divergence arises instead from event definition. Swiss Ephemeris apsides and nodes are derived from osculating Keplerian elements, whereas Horizons identifies physical events: extrema of the Moon’s actual geocentric distance and zero crossings of its apparent ecliptic latitude. In 2021, Swiss Ephemeris developer Alois Treindl independently demonstrated—using swetest itself—that apsides and nodes computed from observed distance and latitude do not coincide with their analytic counterparts at any epoch, including the oft-repeated claim that the “true” apogee is twice monthly in exact conjunction or opposition with the Moon.⁷ Despite this acknowledgment, astrological software and reference tables continue to present Keplerian constructs as if they were observed events, perpetuating a categorical error that is now fully resolvable with event-based computation via JPL Horizons.

Despite widespread assumptions, mainstream astrological software has never computed lunar apsides as true distance extrema, nor lunar nodes as actual ecliptic crossings. Instead, it reports mean, osculating, or interpolated orbital elements derived from analytical or semi-analytical theories. The enduring debate over which Lilith is “correct” is therefore not symbolic in origin but methodological.

A physically defined lunar apogee—and any symbolic interpretation derived from it—must be based on the actual maximum Earth–Moon distance, as determined by numerical integration of ephemeris data (e.g., via JPL Horizons). Once this distinction is observed, the conceptual ambiguity surrounding Black Moon Lilith dissolves.

Abstract:

The Great Pyramid of Giza has long been proposed to encode chronological and astronomical information within its metrology. This study examines whether specific pyramid measurements correspond quantitatively with precessional age structure when zodiacal ages are modeled using variable equatorial diurnal rising times rather than fixed-length divisions. Rising-time–derived age lengths are scaled to the pyramid’s base-diagonal sum (25,826.4 pyramid inches) and calibrated to a future obliquity of the ecliptic (23°03′32.7438″ in 5060 CE). The resulting precessional cycle of 25755.8861873455 rising-time years, when converted using the epoch-specific sidereal day length derived from equatorial rising arcs (23.934472807 h), equals precisely 25,826.4 mean-solar-day–based years, matching the pyramid’s measured value.

Backward-counting from a defined Aquarius ingress epoch (1 June 1976 CE, 7:40:57 UT)—specified by the rising-time model used here—using Julian Day arithmetic, yields variable-age boundaries that align with historically attested epochs in the Masoretic chronology, including the Aries and Pisces ingresses (2027 BCE and 27 BCE respectively) and the 490-year interval from Ezra’s decree (458 BCE) to the Crucifixion (33 CE). Delta-T corrections and lunar residual analysis maintain millisecond-level consistency across 89 evaluated epochs spanning six millennia. Supplementary analysis incorporates long-period planetary cycles, including Neptune–Pluto conjunctions, as additional temporal markers.

All calculations, source ephemerides, and epoch tables are publicly archived for independent verification. The results indicate that a variable-age precessional framework, constrained by a specific obliquity solution, produces a coherent chronological mapping between pyramid metrology, astronomical cycles, and historical timelines.

The Finding:

The Great Pyramid’s internal and external measurements, when interpreted as precessional years using variable equatorial rising arcs, align with the Masoretic biblical chronology to within hours across six millennia — a correspondence requiring a unique future obliquity of the ecliptic (7 April 5060 CE), a parameter not derivable from any known ancient observational technique.

The Result:

This alignment presents the pyramid as a precise chronometric structure whose metrology, when interpreted through variable rising-time precession, yields a coherent mapping between astronomical cycles, long-term planetary periodicities (including Neptune–Pluto), and the Masoretic historical framework. Within this model, zodiacal Age boundaries and deep planetary cycles coincide with major historical transitions, with the Aquarius ingress of 1 June 1976 serving as the temporal calibration anchor from which the backward-counting solution is derived.

Abstract:

A 12,000-year comparison between Swiss Ephemeris v2.10.03 and NASA JPL Horizons (DE441) reveals that the Swiss Ephemeris still relies on pre-2021 ΔT parameters, omitting the +1.80 × 10⁻²² rad s⁻² acceleration term adopted in the 2020 Stephenson & Morrison update. Horizons accordingly yields systematically smaller ΔT values from about 653 BCE backward. The resulting lunar-longitude offset increases from roughly 2 arcseconds near 1450 CE to 1 arcminute by 1200 CE and continues to expand exponentially, surpassing 1° by 6000 BCE and 2° by 9999 BCE. While planetary longitudes remain largely unaffected, lunar-sensitive techniques—such as eclipses, secondary progressions, and lunar returns—can be displaced by several minutes of clock time when based on the current Swiss Ephemeris. Incorporating the 2020 Stephenson & Morrison revision would restore consistency with JPL Horizons and sustain the precision standard expected of modern computational astrology.

The Finding:

Swiss Ephemeris v2.10.03 appears to have omitted the 2020 Stephenson & Morrison addendum — specifically, the +1.80 × 10⁻²² rad s⁻² acceleration term now implemented in JPL Horizons (DE441).

The Result:

• ΔT overestimated by 15,109.582 seconds (~4.2 hours) at 9999 BCE

• Lunar longitude offset: +2°17′04.515″

• Error grows monotonically backward from 653 BCE

• Still −111.453 s (−0°00′53.453″ lunar offset) at 1200 CE

For archaeoastronomy, eclipse reconstruction, and deep-time lunar returns, this is unacceptable drift.

That claim is now directly testable. Since 2021, the 2020 Stephenson & Morrison addendum—explicitly incorporating the +1.80 × 10⁻²² rad s⁻² acceleration term—has been implemented in JPL Horizons (DE441) but remains absent from Swiss Ephemeris v2.10.03. The 12,000-year audit presented here quantifies the resulting ΔT divergence across 252 independently verifiable epochs.

The Astrolog chart we present here is erected for the Prime Meridian at Greenwich, UK. All objects are JPL Horizons-calculated, and the nodes and apogee (BML) are based upon the actual, apparent Moon (COB) crossing the ecliptic N-S prior to the event and when at furthest distance from the Earth, respectively, rather than the fictitious, non-definition-based, so-called “True” positions that our software calculate. We selected a few of the objects that we consider significant in suggesting the meaning and purpose of this most unusual celestial Messenger.

The Meridian 1^st House cusp (1° Aqu 56’02.567”) is exactly conjunct the TNO Pluto. I’ve been tracking this comet since discovery and went on record (in a private email to Davide Farnocchia at JPL - 2025-07-28) that I thought the comet would reach perihelion in anaretic 29° Cap. And so it was on that day, at least from our perspective on Earth, based upon the Nov. 4 solution! The latest JPL solution on Dec. 3 moves the perihelion a bit later, as you can see here. The perihelion also occurs during the first of three Full SuperMoon cycles (2025-10-07, 3:47:36.869 UTC) this year, despite the disinformation from one astrologer’s FB post that “it’s NOT a SuperMoon.” The other two Full SuperMoons that follow are: 2025-11-05, 13:19:18.446 UTC and 2025-12-04, 23:14:04.491 UTC. See instructions here or here (in the comment) on how to calculate a SuperMoon based upon Richard Nolle’s original 1979 definition. If the Full Moon on 2025-10-07 qualifies under that definition, why blatantly misrepresent that “if it’s not there in the table, it’s not there in the sky”?

I discovered in this calculation process that Venus is out-of-bounds (OOB) as an Evening Star when the conjunction occurs between about 11° Cap to 23° Sag and 11° Can to 24° Gem - i.e., when the Sun is near the solstices. This creates another cycle where the VSP every 8 years is OOB, and where the duration lasts between 48 years (e.g., 2042-2089 CE) and 88 years (e.g., 900-988 CE). Also, the time period between each cycle varies as well, as one can see from the twelve such cycles calculated (786 CE to 2235 CE).

My objective was to find a recurring VSP or “entire star” - the one that Arielle Guttman matter-of-factly speaks of in her book (p. 22) – “every 1,250 years, which,” she says, “constitutes one complete revolution ... the exact same alignment.” Well, sorry to say, I found no such “exact same alignment,” and it appears to be pure speculation on her part - in other words, a fabrication - not based on any computations that she would dare share. What I can share, on the other hand, based upon my computations is that there is a near-exact alignment every 1254.97 yrs., a complete revolution where the VSP of either type (i.e., superior or inferior) recurs to nearly the same zodiacal position - 157 of these 7.9934 yr. Venus returns comprising that cycle, as seen in the PDFs. One more thing I can share (if I may): Fabrication to enhance one’s narrative may help to sell a few extra copies of a book, but it’s not really necessary to demonstrate how truly significant the Venus Star Point is in a chart.

These various VSP OOB cycles (the last such cycle from 1920-1984 CE) are not mentioned anywhere in her book or the video I watched, so I doubt if Arielle even knows about them, and if not, why not? Perhaps, Venus OOB is insignificant to her? Or the fact that these OOB cycles exist and have astrological implications and interpretive value? Venus may, of course, be OOB elsewhere within the Tropical Zodiac, but unless Venus is within the range specified near the solstices, there can be no VSP OOB.

To help further research into this important significator in the chart (i.e., the prenatal VSP and VSP OOB cycles), I submit the following PDFs. For the 1920-1984 cycle, I’ve extracted sixteen celebrities, almost all of them noted in Appendix III of Arielle’s book, who were born under each 8-yr. Venus OOB cycle associated with the Cancer-Gemini Evening Star. Unfortunately, there are many errors in Appendix III, mostly misspellings of names but some with incorrect birth dates, so I’ve corrected or withheld certain celebrities (e.g., Hally Berry, Jayne Meadows, Joan Bennett, Joan Kennedy, Roseanne Barr, etc.) who are listed there. I’ve also linked each of them to Astro-Databank, Astro-Seek or other data sources to facilitate research efforts.

Who is this Messenger - 3I/ATLAS? And what is the Message? We offer his/her discovery chart below to help decipher it. We might also consider a previous discovery of an asteroid named Asmodeus (“King of demons”) who was discovered on 1975-10-08.44653 in the SAME degree (3° Tau) as Chiron (“Suffering Messiah”), discovered two years later (1977-10-18.3809) at the SAME observatory (675-Palomar Mountain). When Asmodeus was discovered, however, it/he was within a degree conjunct Sedna and Taguacipa, the “Great Deceiver” and sidekick of Virococha, Supreme Creator god of the Inca, the “Ancient One.”

One interesting opposition we see in 3I/ATLAS’ discovery chart is Taguacipa (18° Ari 55'24") conjunct the Meridian 1^st House cusp (19° Ari 01'08") and the TNO 2010EN65 (19° Lib 39'46") conjunct the 7^th House cusp (19° Lib 01'08") - both within arc minutes! 2010EN65 was, however, exactly conjunct Chiron at his discovery, which adds a different meaning or interpretation, we think, to this discovery. Neptune has 31 currently known trojans, and 2010EN65 is one of them - the only one described as a “jumping trojan,” and the only L3 member of the group. We suggest that this discovery is announcing the arrival of the “Triumphant Messiah” who opposes his Archrival Taguacipa, the “right hand,” if you will, of Asmodeus. The Moon (21° Vir 50'00") is conjunct but separating from her apparent South Node (21° Vir 03'42") ruling the End-of-the-Matter 4^th - illuminating as well. The Sun is nicely quintile the Moon and Chiron, as seen in the aspect grid. With a good deal of chatter about “correlated” objects these days (at least in one Facebook AA group), what would you make of these correlations?

Notice in the discovery chart that all objects are JPL Horizons-calculated, as well as the nodes and apogee are definition-based events that occurred prior to discovery, calculated as such and treated similarly to other events, such as the New Moon, the VSP or perihelion that astrologers might insert into a chart as significant indicators of the event or birth. None of the nodes or apsides moves forward or backward as many astrologers imagine. They’re simply events, just like a New Moon, that occur each month at a particular moment, and they stay fixed forever.

For those of you interested in the transit of C/2025 N1 (ATLAS) over the coming weeks, we provide its daily position in the sky, along with 752 other celestial objects, including the other two ISOs, in our Daily Transits. At its perihelion, since it is a very fast-moving comet (68.3325 km/s or 42.46 mi/s or 152,855.478 mph), I’ll give the current prediction based upon the latest JPL solution, but it changes every day on average about an hour earlier with each update, at least with the first few days after discovery. In any case, here’re the estimated perihelion solution dates/times:

(Note: The apparent Moon’s nodes and apogee (BML) are JPL Horizons-calculated, along with 2739 Taguacipa (exactly conjunct Pluto in the 12th), 2174 Asmodeus (exactly conjunct BML in the 4th), with 1181 Lilith (exactly conjunct the Moon and her apparent SN) and 785648 Likho (exactly conjunct the Meridian 1st House cusp) - in this combination, well, an evil personality!)

The Astrolog chart presented here is based upon these coordinates and the 13:38 IST scheduled departure with 30 seconds of flight time added - 13:38:30. The clock time of departure is based upon the LMT of the standard meridian (UTC+5.5 or 82.5°E), however, which ignores the LMT equivalent of the departure from take-off and, more specifically, to the crash site – hence, the need for correction of the input time.

The incorrect post-1883 standard formula used to calculate the UT1 of the event is: CT = UT1 + TZ offset, where CT = civil time, TZ = time zone and UT1 = the rotational time scale (formerly GMT) implemented to calculate the planets. With the correct formula, however, the coordinates of the crash site are considered, i.e., the LMT variation (longitude in time) is subtracted from the civil time (13:38:30 - 00:39:32.957 = 12:58:57.043), and to arrive at the proper UT1, we subtract 5.5 hours = 7:28:57.043 to calculate the planets as seen over the crash site. The correct, simplified formula for doing this is: standard time = universal time + time-zone offset - LMT variation or its equivalent: CT = UT1 + ΔT_zone - [(λ_obs - λ_std) × 4 / 60]. The civil time (1:38:30 pm IST) used to calculate the angles of the chart is already properly done with our beloved software, so there is no need to correct for this. The observer’s longitude is considered in the standard appropriate formula, since sidereal time is being calculated. What was intentionally ignored post-1883 was the other formula that determines the UT1 for planet calculation, of which rather postulates or imagines incorrectly that the observer is standing on the standard meridian. This fantasy is rejected in our computation of the chart.

You’ll notice the chart ruler Venus (6° Tau 09'59.208") is exactly (within 0.1') quincunx the Meridian 1st House cusp or EP (6° Lib 09'03.664"). The implication of an 8th House quincunx from the chart ruler is an ominous transformation or transition of sorts – in this case, of 279 fatalities and many injuries. For comparison, 15' on the EP = 1 minute of time, and 1' = 4 seconds or less. To achieve this precision, though, the input time needs adjusting for the actual local time of the event (13:58:57.043) and the UT1 (7:28:57.043) that’s used for planet calculation.

The “approximately 30 seconds” reported flight time after lift-off appears to be quite accurate (watch the CCTV video here). This video records the departure at 13:38:23 IST with lift-off at 13:38:41 with exactly 30 seconds of flight time, and a crash occurring at 13:39:11. The 1st House (EP) of the CCTV take-off chart (not shown here) is applying to the actual quincunx to Venus at ~13:38:28. That occurred after the decision to depart at 13:38:23 - in other words, not even a third down the runway. In this analysis we consider the actual departure time (13:38:23 IST) as being the indicator to shed light on this fated event. On the other hand, had the 1st House quincunx been separating from Venus BEFORE take-off at 13:38:23, perhaps the pilots would have been alerted of the most likely dual-engine failure. You’ll also notice the apparent Moon’s nodes and apogee (BML) are here calculated not the imaginary “moving” points you’d normally see in a standard chart. In other words, Venus is separating from BML not applying to the conjunction.

This LMT correction doesn’t require topocentric ephemerides, nor does it alter your chart angles. It simply restores accuracy in planetary calculations by honoring the truth of your position on Earth - a truth that’s been neglected for 142 years.

• 2) Used by few astrologers (e.g., via Walter Pullen’s Astrolog/w macro), this method aligns with the rotational definitions of sidereal time and universal time (UT1, formerly GMT). Sidereal time is universally treated as rotational - no two observers on different meridians share the same LAST (house structure). Until November 18, 1883, astrologers treated GMT (now UT1) as rotational, using the equation: LMT = UT1 - longitude. The U.S. Congress then mandated clock synchronization to time zone meridians, creating a “legal timeline” where only meridian observers reflect this relationship (Explanatory Supplement, 1992, p. 50, https://archive.org/details/explanatorysuppl00pken/page/50/mode/2up). Post-1883, astrologers adopted a “global now” myth, treating UT1 as a homogeneous “same everywhere” moment (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Time), ignoring its definition as Greenwich’s LMT. Proponents (we won't name them) defend this with absurd “Superman antics” or phone call tricks, claiming time is uniform. It’s not - it’s a “semi-global now” within time zones, with no 24-hour global time zone to justify their fantasy.
  

  The standard method calculates the Moon as if it’s the same for all observers within the time zone. They are instructed that they have invisible clones on the TZ meridian, which longitude is used for their Moon calculation. This is not only pure fantasy but a dishonoring of their physical location and true orientation to the sky! The way out of this 142 yr. old-rabbit-hole entrapment is to acknowledge and honor the observer's longitude via the LMT variation in the calculation of the planets. This is done with the formula that converts CT to UT1 and vice versa:

  … where the LMT variation is the distance in time east from the standard meridian, CT = civil or standard time, and UT1 = GMT or the LMT of Greenwich, a longitude- and observer-dependent calculation.

This method yields a “local apparent UT1” (LAUT1, for lack of a better term), ensuring accurate local event timing, unlike clone-based transit reports. For example, at 4:00 am PST, clock synchronized to 120°W, the Moon is at 0° Aqu 39'40" for observers on that meridian. At 116°15'W, it’s 0° Aqu 48'07"; at 108°45'W, 1° Aqu 05'04"; at 105°W, 1° Aqu 13'32". The synchronization of clocks elsewhere within the time zone does NOT synchronize the LMTs of other observers. They still experience their actual LMT and the complementary orientation to the sky where they are, e.g., a later Moon if to the east, earlier if to the west, of the time zone meridian. The Moon doesn't freeze in the sky due to the willy-nilly synchronization of clocks.

This (4:00 am PST) is NOT the synchronized clock time of the other observers at 105°W who saw the same Moon an hour earlier. They saw it when the observers at 120°W saw it, and observer #5 who has his clock synchronized to the 120°W meridian is experiencing Cosmic time (UT1) later as well (see Astrolog chart) with the Moon at 5° Aqu 11'09" at 4:00 am PST on his clock. The other Greenwich observers, with their clocks set eight hours later than his, saw the same Moon as all the other observers on Earth who had their clocks synchronized to their respective TZ meridians and were located there.

The rule of thumb: If clocks are synchronized to a time zone meridian (e.g., 4:00 am PST), observers to the east of it have a UT1 LATER (with of course a later Moon position) and those to the west an EARLIER UT1 (earlier Moon position). Clock synchronization doesn’t merge LMTs - observers see their actual sky.

If any “Master astrologer,” astrophysicist, or programmer defends this synchronization hoax, tell him or her: “You are perpetuating a blatant falsehood! Abandon this 142-year-old fantasy/hoax or lose all integrity.”

Astrolog chart for Obs. 5

The Moon difference calculated here is between the local mean time (LMT) of the Time Zone (TZ) meridian for which all clocks are set and the LMT of the observer’s meridian. All charts show the same Moon position (26° Cap 09'25") for the TZ meridian because the LMT and civil time (CT) match - this relation is indicated in this equation: LMT = UT1 - longitude. All observers not on the TZ meridian (those would be at locations 2-10) have the same clock readings, but they are on a meridian E or W of it, so their actual local times are different - LATER if east, EARLIER if west. This is defined as the “LMT variation from the TZ meridian” where 1° = 4 min. of time, and why the Moon is EARLIER or LATER in arc for these observers. This is what Dr. McCarthy meant in this ca. 1980 letter about the hour angle of an object depending “critically” on the longitude of the observer.

The Adjusted charts for all the observers are based upon their clock readings set for the respective TZ meridians but use a corrected formula to calculate the planetary positions. The correction includes the observer’s longitude E-W of the TZ meridian (aka LMT variation). We’ve been indoctrinated, unfortunately, for 142 years (since 1883) to believe in the synchronization hoax/lie - that “time is homogeneous across all longitudes,” forced to accept the fantasy that we can be in two places at the same time and one of us being an invisible clone standing exactly on a standard meridian! We’ve been bamboozled into imagining we’re all seeing the same Moon (26° Cap 09'25"), since our clocks are all synchronized. The Standard chart output shown for each observer (except for Location #1) is evidence of this hoax/fantasy. A fast Moon may be more than 2.5° different between two observers in the same TZ (see example). Before 1883, astrologers calculated correct charts because they acknowledged and honored the observer’s longitude.

Does any astrologer really believe that he or she has an invisible clone on the standard meridian? If not, why use a formula (CT = UT1 - TZ offset) that clearly embodies this hoax/fantasy? This is in fact how all astrology software does planet calculations and what the programmers insist is the truth and are promulgating. Why not use instead a correct formula for the calculation of the planets that acknowledges and honors the observer’s longitude, like in pre-1883 LMT formula, as seen here? The caveat is your clock must be preset to LMT before calculating the Moon, then you’ll know the chart is correct. If you simply switch willy-nilly from a clock preset to civil time (CT) to LMT, of course you’re going to see the same chart! This is because your preset clock to CT assumes you (or your clone) are on the standard meridian, hence the same Moon calculated based upon the UT1 time tag.

If you wish not to preset your clock to LMT, you can use the proposed formula that tolerates a CT preset, and it will render a correct UT1 time tag to calculate the proper Moon position: UT1 = CT + ΔT_zone + [(λ_obs - λ_std) × 4 / 60] … where the LMT variation is the distance in time east from the standard meridian, CT = civil or standard time, and UT1 = GMT or the LMT of Greenwich, a longitude-dependent calculation.

I’m not suggesting that a shift should necessarily be apparent at the exact moment an object is showing movement in either direction of Ecliptic LON, only giving the precise time the shift would be occurring. The shift in awareness might be hours or minutes ahead of (but not after) that actual event. Objects that are stationing and ruling the four angles of the chart (MC-IC-EP-WP) or the subsidiary geog. ASC will most likely be, we think, the most influential or noticeable.

The “Point located at 50°N, 30°W” should be “… 40°W”, if it really matters to you 🙂.

UT1 (GMT) is “synonymous with mean solar time at the meridian of Greenwich” (see https://www.ucolick.org/~sla/leapsecs/seago.pdf, Intro., paragraph 2, sentence 2). It’s just as longitude dependent as the mean solar time (LMT) of San Diego or any other location. San Diego (117°W) is simply 7h48m EARLIER than Greenwich (0°W). This is how rotational time works.

The question is: How do we calculate or convert the fictitious time on our clocks that is arbitrarily synchronized to a standard meridian based upon the LMT of the Greenwich tabulation of a New Moon? In other words, how do we honor the actual longitude of the physical observer in San Diego rather than his imagined clone on the standard meridian? If you think it can be done, to erect an accurate New Moon chart using standard astrology software, think again.

We've calculated below the local mean time of the New Moon at 117°W (2025-05-26, 7:14:21.046 pm LMT), but the observer's clock is NOT set for San Diego’s LMT; it's set rather for an LMT that's not even his, i.e., the TZ meridian (120°W). It could be viewed rationally as the observer’s Wonderland clone’s LMT, but astrologers should not really engage in such fantasy when calculating charts - New Moon or otherwise! Therefore, we propose instead the actual time on the observer’s synchronized clock is 7:50:21.046 pm PDT at the New Moon, based upon the proper formula that honors longitude (see first example). It’s not an option with our beloved software to calculate this adjusted CT, so you’ll need to find where it’s available (check the end of this article).

The standard chart (calculated and displayed below) for 8:02:21.046 pm PDT appears to be the same as the local mean time chart calculated for 7:14:21.046 pm LMT with an MC = 22° Vir 56'21". It’s only - I cannot emphasize enough - an appearance or illusion, though, not the actual orientation of the observer at 117°W with a clock arbitrarily synchronized to the standard meridian. The proper orientation is rather with a calculated MC = 19° Vir 40'21" at the New Moon. The MC is EARLIER in arc because the observer’s longitude (117°W) is honored. In the standard chart it’s the TZ meridian (120°W) that’s honored instead. Since time is LATER to the east, the observer at 117°W sees the New Moon BEFORE (12 minutes, in fact) the observer at 120°W. The standard formula’s error misaligns your charts - my formula fixes this for true geocentric accuracy!

JPL Horizons uses UT1 input/output prior to 1962-01-01, 0hr UT1, with JD output designated “JDUT” (e.g., 2437664.500000000). After this date, Horizons uses UTC input/output, also with a JDUT (e.g., 2437665.500000000). Note that while “universal time is no longer definable as ‘12 hr. + the Greenwich hour angle of the fictitious mean Sun,’” it remains close enough to mean solar time to retain terms like “mean solar day” (Explanatory Supplement, p. 73). Thus, UT1 can be identified with Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), the LMT at 0°E. Dr. Seidelmann adds, “as with sidereal time, there are local mean solar times… connected with universal time (GMT) by the relation: LMT = UT - longitude.” This pre-1883 formula acknowledges and honors the observer’s longitude, as discussed in our article “Sidereal Time and Universal Time are Rotational: … Always Were.” Post-1883, the formula became CT = UTC - TZ offset, prioritizing the TZ meridian’s longitude and ignoring the observer’s, leading to errors (e.g., 119°W vs. 120°W, ~2' Moon error). I emailed Dr. Seidelmann, now a professor at the Univ. of Virginia, on May 5, 2025, 1:59 pm CDT, asking if he agreed that my formula (UT1 = CT + ΔT_zone + [(λ_obs - λ_std) × 4 / 60] - if west of Greenwich) “acknowledges and honors the observer's longitude, whereas this post-1883 formula (CT = UT1 - TZ offset) doesn't,” and he replied “yes” on May 6, 2025, 7:46:40 am CDT. I responded shortly after at 8:52 am CDT with “Thank you for the reply.”

Terrestrial Time (TT), synonymous with ET, may also be used as Horizons input and the JD output is designated “JDTT,” and the JD number may also be used for input. If TT (ET) is used, Jon Giorgini of Horizons explains in the result that “it is a continuous time scale … appropriate for observations and measurements from the surface of the Earth … a time-scale conversion for Earth … used regardless of observer location within the solar system….”

The Swiss Ephemeris (SE) utility swetest accepts TT (“t”), UT1 (“ut”), UTC (“utc”), and JD (“j” or “bj”) as inputs. UTC input was added only recently (~2023), so UT1 has historically been the default for date/time inputs in ephemeris calculations. SE-based software follows suit. When no time scale is specified, SE’s swe_julday() assumes TT input for JD conversion (docs: “If no calendar date conversion flag is specified, TT is assumed”), outputting JDTT (e.g., 2437665.500000000 for 1962-01-01 00:00, matching Horizons UTC output, with the Moon at 210.6739345°, a 0.0144" difference due to ΔT: SE 34.000593s vs. Horizons 33.621000s (see result). However, with SE-based software (e.g., Solar Fire, Astro Gold, Sirius, etc.), the ephemeris output defaults to UT1. And UT1 (“ut”) input in swetest always yields UT1-based calculations with an even JDUT for all dates at 0hr. Now for UTC (“utc”) input before 1962-01-01, the SE calculates positions using UT1 like Horizons does with an even JDUT, as seen here. After this date, SE still uses UT1 output (unlike Horizons) with an even JDUT, as seen here, but after 1971-12-31, UTC input renders a slightly adjusted JDUT (2460790.916669152), as seen here. So, unless UTC is requested in the SE URL, and the date is after 1971-12-31, the default output for ephemeris calculations is UT1, unless no time scale is specified - then it defaults to TT output.

Some astrologers misunderstand these time scales, claiming UT1 (GMT) isn’t longitude-dependent, and that the SE renders UTC output. UTC was not even an option for input until recently (~2023). This claim is false. After 1962, Horizons does output UTC results unless another time scale is specified. UT1 defines GMST at Greenwich (0°E), but local sidereal time (LST = GMST + lambda) and house cusps require the observer’s longitude - a 1° error (119°W vs. 120°W) shifts local time by 4 minutes, moving the Moon ~2'. Drs. Seidelmann and McCarthy confirm UT1’s practical longitude dependence, debunking such misconceptions.
