I’ve always felt like I should KNOW how to properly be on holiday, to switch off, to stop thinking about work, to not feel guilty, to actually enjoy doing nothing and being in the present.

And then i thought to myself, maybe i just need to find MY way of resting instead of judging myself again on how well am i performing “rest” lol ?

This holiday for one of the first times I allowed myself to be “sort of” off. I wouldn’t even say allowed because frankly the only reason I could is because I nowafter 7 years of having my brand and 10 years of working have a team, even if it’s small, that I can lean on.

I had organised things before leaving, I knew things were being taken care of and I could actually step away without feeling like everything would collapse (btw that’s a great take on “things that are worth your money”) and I realised something: I don’t love being off. I’m actually never really off. That creative and still very much survival-mode brain will ALWAYS be fuming with ideas. But for once I am not directly working.

I’m “en veille” thinking about what really counts for me, what I want for the future, what I want to make, where I want to go. I think there’s something freeing and inspiring about letting yourself shut down for a bit to leave enough space to think about things that don’t immediately need to become work. Because there’s also something I’m trying to unlearn after years of creating content online: the idea that everything needs to happen quickly. When you get used to creating content, especially for brands, it’s always very fast, you get a brief for the next week type shit, you start expecting yourself to have fast ideas too. But creative things take time. Some thoughts need to sit there for a while. Some ideas need two weeks of doing absolutely nothing with them before they become something worth making. I think sometimes you have to accept disappearing for a while to come back when it’s actually worth showing up.

After 10 years of freelancing and entrepreneurship I think I finally know how holidays can look for ME because I’ve stopped trying to force myself.

So here’s how: checking my emails in the morning if I need to, then leaving the rest of the day to be off, having things organised before leaving so I’m not spending the whole holiday putting out fires, leaving my phone inside every afternoon. Having three books i LOVE with me at all times helped. Having something to write with. Something to paint. Things that occupy my brain without asking anything from it. Because I’m starting to realise that rest for me doesn’t necessarily mean doing nothing, sometimes it means doing things that have absolutely no outcome.

And actually that’s probably why I didn’t really want to drink this holiday. I want to leave my holidays better than I arrived. Not more productive, not more accomplished. Just better.

Ofc I like the idea of building a life you don’t want to take vacations from but I also think it’s a fucking capitalist trap for epxloiting yourself 24/7. Every meaningful life still needs periods of recovery. The goal is to not needing holidays (works for week-ends too) just to escape your everyday life, and unfortunately it’s a privilege. There’s a big difference between rest and escape. So that’s that, it was always about understanding my own rhythm. What actually makes ME feel restored, what makes me feel curious again, what makes me want to come back. And thats it won’t necessarily look like how others rest. At the end of the day it’s always the same idea, looking what fits YOU cause it’s YOUR life. Lol wtf everytime i write these things i feel crazy for even thinking these but hey, that’s that me espresso :p

Becoming someone my younger self wouldn’t necessarily recognize but would respect

Girl’s girl this.

Rubi Pigeon

Girl’s girl this. Girl dinner that. Girl math this. Just a girl. Hot girl walk. Girlhood.

I think there’s something genuinely wholesome about women creating their own language and turning ordinary parts of life into something funny, relatable, and universal. But I’ve been wondering why the internet is so obsessed with the word “girl” especially when a lot of us are not girls anymore.

And I don’t mean it in a “women need to grow up and become serious” way. I grew up around a lot of people who looked like adults but didn’t necessarily take responsibility like them. So I’m not idealizing some rigid idea of adulthood. But I do wonder if I’ve spent so much of my twenties reclaiming girlhood that I haven’t spent enough time imagining what could come after it.

Not because girlhood is something we need to outgrow. I actually love that women have found ways to reclaim it especially after generations of being told that becoming a woman meant becoming a mother, self-sacrificing, serious or simply fitting into a very specific mould.

Because what does adulthood actually look like online? And you might think, why would we care? Because we’re chronically online and that it probably affects us unconsciously. At least it does for me I’m sure. And yes, I should also spend less time online bUT I LOVE THE CONVERSATONS.

I started thinking about this after the whole “girl’s girl” conversation especially after reading some of the reactions to my thoughts on it on my previous post.

One comment was basically saying: why do we need a term for everything? Why do we constantly need to analyse our friendships, our relationships, our mistakes? Why can’t we just talk to each other, make mistakes, and figure things out? And I think she touched on something.

Sometimes we can become so obsessed with understanding ourselves that we forget to actually live. At least I know I do that. You can analyse your attachment style, identify your trauma, decide whether someone is toxic, ask your friends, ask TikTok, Chat GPT and at some point you still have to make the decision yourself.

And I wonder if the internet makes this even harder because we’re constantly watching other people live, analyse, explain, and perform their own lives.

Is there a point where self-awareness can become another form of avoidance? Instead of making a decision, you look for the perfect explanation for why you feel the way you feel.

Instead of having an uncomfortable conversation, you wonder whether the relationship is “healthy.” Instead of making a mistake, you try to figure out what the mistake says about your attachment style.

I’ve actually thought about this a lot with Léna Mahfouf. I remember sometimes not leaning into her vlogs because I felt like they were speaking to a much younger version of me and it made me wonder whether this is what happens when your adolescence becomes part of your career.

When you grow up online, your younger self doesn’t really disappear. She’s still on YouTube. On Instagram. In old TikToks. In people’s memories, and if that version of you is also the reason people started following you, there’s almost a need to remain recognizable, even though growing up is basically the process of becoming someone else.

The internet rewards recognizability. It rewards consistency. But growing up is change. You change your mind, you change your style, values. You stop liking things you once loved. You become interested in things your younger self would have found boring. You disappoint people who preferred the old version of you. And I think this applies even if you’re not a creator. At least even just seeing creators do that will unconsciously maybe have an impact on you.

Our generation can literally go back and watch ourselves at 15. We can listen to the music we loved, see the clothes we wore, scroll through old photos, and consume endless nostalgia about the childhood we had, hence the recent trend of showing who you were in 2016.

Our past is always available to us. I even notice it in myself in a much more ridiculous way. When I started making my own money, I kept buying things I had wanted when I was 14 almost as if buying them at 25 would somehow heal the 14 year old version of me. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t :p

The shoes don’t heal you, the bag doesn’t heal you. Getting the thing you couldn’t afford when you were younger doesn’t magically give your younger self what she was missing. I was just buying a symbol of finally being able to give myself something I once couldn’t have. Period.

And I think there’s something similar happening culturally with girlhood. The old version of womanhood felt very limited to me: marriage as an expectation, motherhood as an obligation, respectability, self-sacrifice, being “a good woman.” So rejecting that and saying “I’m just a girl” can feel incredibly liberating.

And honestly I find it healing to see women becoming mothers in their own way. Women building families that look different from the ones they grew up in. Women choosing motherhood rather than simply inheriting it as an obligation.

Because it reminds me that adulthood doesn’t have to mean returning to an old script.

We can reinvent it too. But also maybe you can reject a version of womanhood whilst developing your own version of it too. And I think that’s what I’m trying to do as I grow older, becoming less dependent on being understood by everyone and anyone. Being able to change my mind. Being able to say, “I don’t know,” and still move forward.

And eventually becoming someone my younger self wouldn’t necessarily recognize but would respect.

As always, this is an open conversation. I don’t have a guide or a perfect answer. I just find these questions interesting.

So if you have thoughts, I genuinely want to hear them.

Bisous <3

“Policing each other in Not because I don’t believe in women supporting women, ofc I do and very deeply but the way the internet talks about being a “girl’s girl” sometimes feels less like freeing women and more like controlling them.

The whole concept is supposed to be the opposite of a “pick-me” (which was already annoying enough because centered around men). And even that keeps us trapped in this idea of women being divided into categories: the good ones and the bad ones, the girls’ girls and the pick mes. And once again it’s women against women and It’s exhausting.

At some point I think we have to ask ourselves whether we’re actually liberating women or just creating a new set of rules for how women are supposed to behave.

It’s much more about decentering men from the equation entirely. From the way we evaluate ourselves. From the way we compete with each other. From the way we decide which women deserve empathy.

And in this age of social media I feel like we’ve forgotten that women are human beings. Women can be bitches. Women can hurt other women. Women can be jealous, insecure, selfish, unfair. Women can get hurt and act weird afterwards.

That doesn’t mean we have to excuse bad behaviour just because someone is a woman. But maybe we could stop being so quick to judge before trying to understand. And understanding someone doesn’t even mean agreeing with them. It just means remembering that there is a whole human being behind the thing you’re reacting to.

Historically women supporting women even imperfectly is still a step forward. It’s healthier than the older dynamic where women were constantly encouraged to compete with one another for male approval or distance themselves from other women to appear more desirable. In that sense “girl’s girl” culture is absolutely an evolution from pick-me culture. But maybe it isn’t the final form of liberation.

It sometimes feels like “girl’s girl” has become a new word for policing the good soldiers from the bad ones.

And maybe the most radical feminist thing we could do right now would simply be to let women fucking be. Let women be complicated. Let them disagree. Let them make mistakes. Let them have boundaries. Let them be wrong.

What if being a girl’s girl is about being able to honestly and lovingly tell the truth? Not because you want to put people down. Not because you want to prove that you’re morally superior. But because real solidarity doesn’t require pretending that women are always right. Maybe it means believing that women are human enough to be wrong and still worthy of empathy.

I talked about this more in my latest episode of Pigeonnier with my sister and my I thought I was simply adding another project to my life. Instead, it completely changed the way I think about creating online.

Here are a few things it taught me.

1. A little positive dictatorship is healthy.

For a long time I believed the internet was a democracy that every opinion deserved equal weight. It’s not. People can be a lil cray cray, and moderating comments will go a long way for your health and save you a lot of time.

It’s my page. My project. My creative world. I get to decide what belongs there what doesn’t, which conversations I want to entertain, and which ones I simply don’t. Protecting your vision isn’t arrogance; it’s part of making something meaningful. And if there’s really something you want to tell me we can work it out in private <3

2. Being fully myself online is actually safe.

The version of me you hear on the podcast is probably the closest to who I really am. Maybe because my twin sister is sitting across from me there’s no performance left.

I used to wonder if people would like me more if I curated myself carefully. Instead I discovered something much more valuable. I don’t know if I’m more loved. But I know I’m appreciated for who I actually am. And that’s incredibly freeing. I’d much rather be understood by fewer people than admired for someone I invented.

3. Vulnerability has boundaries.

At first I confused honesty with sharing everything. I didn’t realize it while recording but I was occasionally opening parts of myself that were still healing, before I had even processed them.

I’ve since learned that vulnerability isn’t measured by how much you reveal. You can talk about your emotions without cutting yourself open for everyone to inspect.

4. Learning an entirely new craft is one of the most nourishing things you can do.

Most of my work has always been visual. Fashion. Design. Images. Objects. Podcasting forced me into a completely different creative language. There’s nowhere to hide behind aesthetics when all you have is your voice and your thoughts.

It made me think more deeply, speak more intentionally, and take ownership of what I believe.

Learning something from scratch again reminded me how exciting it feels to be a beginner.

5. I absolutely love working with my twin sister.

This project made me appreciate her brain even more.

We think differently, challenge each other constantly, and somehow always end up making something better than either of us would have made alone.

It’s become one of my favorite creative collaborations.

6. The internet is beautiful because people are so much more alike than we think.

Some of the episodes I almost didn’t publish were the ones where I thought “Surely this feeling is too specific. No one will relate.” Ironically those are often the ones that resonate the most.

The internet gets criticized for making us feel disconnected but sometimes it does the exact opposite: You speak honestly about something you thought only existed inside your own head and hundreds of people quietly think “I thought I was the only one.”

Maybe that’s what keeps me coming back every week.

So thank you so much for the support and love <3 Happy birthday Le Pigeonnier !

<a But I did feel guilty the second I wasn’t overperforming, because somewhere along the way I absorbed the idea that this is what you’re supposed to do.

How dare you enjoy your life if you haven’t earned every second of it?

I’ll probably never be the kind of person who does absolutely nothing, and honestly, I don’t want to be. I like creating. I like building things. I like working. Do I actually like it or did I just get used to it because of capitalism? I don’t know and honestly I overanalyse stuff enough already, so let’s just leave it at that. I truly love (t)werking. :p

What I don’t want is to feel guilty every time I’m not squeezing every ounce of productivity out of myself. Guilty for what? For who?

It’s crazy to think about the life you can accidentally build if you never stop to ask yourself who you’re doing all of this for.

One of my biggest fears isn’t really failure. It’s waking up at sixty next to the man I thought I should date. Working the job I thought I should have. Living in the house I thought I should buy. Having the life that looked perfect on paper but never actually felt like mine.

I don’t need every decision I make to be the right one. I just need it to be my decision.

Maybe that’s why I fall in love quickly, but I also leave quickly when it doesn’t feel right. You might call it impulsive, and you’d probably be right lol. Last time I fell in love I did take a little longer to say it though... a win is a win :p.

I call it refusing to spend years performing a life that isn’t mine.

My philosophy is pretty simple: what’s the best way to know if something works? Fucking try it and see.

If it doesn’t, that’s okay. You move on.

I’d rather have a few chapters that didn’t work out than an entire life built on “should.” Who knows? Maybe I’ll go back to university when I’m fifty just because I want to learn something new. Maybe I’ll change careers. Maybe I’ll live in another country. Maybe none of that happens.

The point is that I want those choices to come from curiosity not obligation. We only get one life. Why spend it performing for an audience that probably isn’t paying as much attention as we think anyway?

Of course, we owe something to each other. We should care about our communities, the planet, the people around us. But beyond basic decency and responsibility, I’ve become deeply suspicious of every invisible rule that starts with:

“You should...”

Maybe that’s why I’ve always hated authority.

Imagine seeking approval so much that you lose yourself. Oof.

The Summer I Became Imperfect

When I was seven years old, my mum says I looked at her and said: “Mum, I perfect.” Ugh just thinking about it exhaust me.

I don’t remember saying it but somehow I’ve spent most of my life carrying those words on my shoulders. Not even knowing what it meant. Who is perfect? What does perfect even look like?

The older I get the more I realize I have absolutely no idea. Because every time I thought I was getting closer, the definition changed. First it was being the perfect daughter. Then it was being pretty enough. Funny enough. Interesting enough. Successful enough.

Looking back I don’t think I was ever chasing perfection, cause i can’t name you one person who’s PERFECT wtf, I think I was chasing the feeling that perfection promised me: Safety, love, belonging. You know the usuals for a BALANCED LIFE :P The certainty that if I could just become “enough,” life would finally feel lighter.

A while ago I read that perfectionism is just another form of people pleasing, and something clicked.

It’s incredibly convenient for the adults around you when a child decides they’ll never be difficult. When they don’t ask for much. When they learn to regulate themselves because no one else really is. When they become independent long before they’re supposed to. They learn that being easy to love feels safer than needing love. So they become good. Quiet. Responsible. Self-sufficient. But children aren’t supposed to earn care by becoming less inconvenient.

Sometimes I think your teenage years are where you’re supposed to disappoint people a little. Make mistakes. Be dramatic. Change your mind every other week. Figure out who you are outside of who everyone needs you to be.

If you never get to do that maybe you end up doing it in your twenties or your thirties. I feel it sometimes, a crippling desire to crash and sabotage myself a little. But it’s hard for people to understand that when you’re 28 compared to a 16 yo, for obvious reasons.

Lately I’ve also realized that one of the reasons my best friends are the best friends I could ask for is because they let me be imperfect. They don’t expect a polished version of me. They make room for the messy, contradictory, unfinished parts. They let me change my mind. They let me fail. Maybe that’s what love actually feels like. Just having the freedom to exist without constantly earning your place (without abusing their patience obviously).

I’ve spent so much of my life believing love had to be deserved that unconditional love almost felt unfamiliar. People always say they want authenticity, but they’re often the first to disappear the moment they see a flaw. I’ve done that too, not necessarily to other people but to myself.

The second I wasn’t perfect, I thought I was failing.

Now I think flaws are the closest thing we have to freedom. They mean you’re looking at a person instead of a performance.

So this summer I’m trying something different.

I’m trying to become a person instead of a project.

This might just be the summer I become imperfect ! Who knows?

I hope the next article is how idgaf anymore and i’ve become a total bitch (joking.. am i?.. ahah)

At least, that’s what I’m manifesting.

Bisouuus <3

The Client Isn’t King Anymore (And Maybe That’s a Good Thing)

The other day I went to a coffee shop with a friend and ordered my usual summer drink: a cold brew with a dash of oat milk.

Rubi Pigeon

The other day I went to a coffee shop with a friend and ordered my usual summer drink: a cold brew with a dash of oat milk.

The barista looked at me and simply said: “We don’t do that.”

For a split second I felt like a little baby having a tiny wave of irrational frustration.

What do you mean you don’t do that? I’m paying. Surely I can have whatever I want (Obviously, I didn’t say that out loud. But that little arrogant inner voice, the one I’m not particularly proud of, definitely thought it.)

Then the barista smiled and said something that ended up staying with me: “It’s 2026. The client isn’t king anymore.”

They suggested I try the cold brew the way it was intended to be served before changing anything. So I did. And… they were right. It was genuinely delicious. It didn’t need oat milk at all and i felt stupid.

What struck me wasn’t just that they had confidence in their product. It was that they cared enough to protect it. They weren’t refusing because they were being difficult. They were refusing because someone had spent time sourcing those beans, understanding the flavors, perfecting the extraction, and creating an experience they believed in. Adding oat milk wasn’t wrong. It just wasn’t the experience they had worked so hard to create.

And that made me think about our relationship with products, craftsmanship, and luxury.

The funny thing is I didn’t arrive at this realization as some enlightened consumer. I arrived there after a tiny internal tantrum lol. A very modern kind of entitlement: the belief that because we can pay for something, we should be able to reshape it entirely around our own desires.

And maybe that’s the uncomfortable part. I recognize that instinct because I’m also a creator. I have my own upcycled clothing brand, made in Brittany, and I know what it feels like to spend hours thinking about fabrics, proportions, construction, and the story behind each piece. I know what it feels like to create something with intention and then see someone immediately want to change it before even experiencing it as it was designed.

To me real luxury is beautifully sourced materials. It’s craftspeople who are paid fairly, respected, and have a life outside of their work. It’s garments made to last decades instead of seasons. It’s knowing you can repair something rather than replace it. It’s a piece made with enough intention that it can eventually become something personal to you.

And honestly, I don’t even think these things should be considered luxury. They should be the norm. But somewhere along the way capitalism made care, quality, and craftsmanship feel like rare privileges. Maybe partly because we’ve become used to a world where everything can be endlessly accelerated and adapted to our immediate desires.

I think we, as customers have a responsibility too.

If we want products made with patience, craftsmanship and integrity, we also have to become consumers who value those things. Consumers who understand that quality takes time. That beautiful things require care. That not everything needs to be immediately changed to fit our preferences.

It doesn’t mean the customer doesn’t matter. Of course they do. But maybe the relationship doesn’t have to be one where the person who creates simply obeys and the person who buys commands. Maybe it can be a conversation between someone who has expertise and someone who chooses to trust it.

Somewhere along the way we started believing that paying for something gives us complete authority over it. Maybe sometimes the most luxurious experience is not getting exactly what we asked for.

Maybe sometimes luxury is encountering someone who cares enough to say: “Trust me. There is a reason we do it this way.”

What Rejection Taught Me

Hi Long time no see ! I thought about something this morning that i wish i knew before so i thought i’d share it.

I’ve always dreamed of knowing how everything was going to happen before it happened. I’ve always been in this mindset of “I need to know everything NOW” and “waste as little time as i can,” because “time is money and i have none yet.” I think that’s what made me both impatient and eager to become financially independent as quickly as I could.

Probably because my parents are entrepreneurs (me too). Growing up, I watched them go through really low lows and high highs, and I was always scared of what the next move was going to be. I think that’s where this obsession with wanting certainty came from.

Which is ironic because one of the biggest lessons I ever learned was actually about doing the opposite:

When I was younger and trying to find a job, my mum would always tell me to apply for jobs even if I thought they were “too big” for me. She’d say that even getting rejected was work experience in itself. At least I’d become a little more aware of the company, the brand, the way they communicate. At least I’d have planted the seed. At least I’d be a little more accustomed to the “big adult life.”

That advice helped me tremendously as a very impatient child (and now a slightly more patient adult lol... not so much, still working on it :p). It slowly taught me that trying is never wasted, and it actually also applies to socializing (i’ll get there in an another post).

Doing things before you feel ready, asking for opportunities, trying to get an answer from someone. I think the whole concept of trying is such a huge part of succeeding. Not because every attempt works out, but because every attempt teaches you something, makes you a little less afraid, and gets you one step closer to becoming the kind of person who belongs in the room you were once intimidated to even knock on <3

What does luxury even mean?

Watching recent shows, one thing Matthieu Blazy has an extraordinary ability to make accessories desirable. The proportions feel right, the styling is incredibly sharp, even the music always creates a very specific atmosphere that for once, makes me interested. There’s a clarity of vision that’s hard not to respond to.

But the more I watch the system of fashion today, the more I find myself thinking about it’s system. Because luxury houses today seem to operate in a very particular way.

A creative director arrives, studies the archive, reinterprets the codes, mixes their sensibility with the brand’s heritage. For a few seasons everything feels new again. Then someone else arrives and the process begins again. In a way, each era becomes a long collaboration between a designer and an archive.

Historically, luxury houses were built around founders whose vision was the brand. Coco Chanel or Christian Dior didn’t just design for a house they were the house. The aesthetic, the philosophy, the codes all came from a single point of view. Today it feels different. The house becomes the platform. The designer becomes the moment.

And yet, despite this shift, desire remains deeply attached to the historic name. A bag from Chanel carries a symbolic weight that goes far beyond the object itself. Blazy’s products are desirable, but would they be so desirable without the Chanel logo on them?

If what we truly respond to is the designer’s point of view the styling, the energy, the cultural relevance they bring, why don’t we simply buy directly from designers themselves? Why not just shop from JW Anderson if that’s the perspective we admire?

The answer, of course, is that luxury is not just about design. It’s about the myth. The house provides the history, the narrative, the symbolic capital built over decades. The designer brings the contemporary interpretation. Together they create desire.

But that leads to a much bigger question that I think we rarely ask clearly: What do we actually mean when we say “luxury »? Because the word is used constantly, yet the definition has become surprisingly vague.

Last week, a friend hosted a dinner and that friend was complaining on the after buy service on he’s balenciaga bag he had bought 6 months earlier needed repairing. And that led to us wondering what luxury really is nowadays?

Prices across luxury have risen dramatically over the decades. When the classic flap bag was introduced by Chanel in 1955, it cost around $220. Today, depending on the model, the same category of bag can easily approach €10,000.

Of course inflation plays a role, as do production costs and global demand. But the magnitude of the increase inevitably raises another question:

what exactly justifies the price today?

Is it craftsmanship?

Materials?

Heritage?

Marketing?

Symbolic value?

In reality it’s probably a mixture of all of these.

But I sometimes feel that the conversation stops too quickly at the symbolic level, the dream, the show, the campaign, the cultural moment. And this is where I think there’s another layer to the discussion: our responsibility as customers.

Because luxury should imply extremely concrete standards. If a house charges several thousand euros for a bag, that object should not simply be desirable for a season. It should be designed to accompany someone for decades. The leather should age beautifully. The construction should withstand time. And the house should stand behind it. Repairs. Restoration. Reconditioning. Re-polishing. Long-term care.

Personally, I think luxury brands should commit to maintaining their pieces for 50years or more essentially for the span of someone’s adult life. That would make the idea of “luxury” tangible again. But for that to exist, customers also have to demand it. And I’m not sure we always do. We tend to be very hard on small designers but not enough on big luxury groups.

Many people today aren’t necessarily equipped to evaluate what they’re paying for leather quality, construction techniques, finishing, durability, after-sales service. These things require a certain literacy in objects, and the industry doesn’t exactly encourage that level of scrutiny. So instead, the conversation often revolves around the narrative: the runway show, the new creative director, the cultural relevance of the moment. But perhaps we should also be asking harder questions about the object itself. Because if luxury really means anything, it should mean excellence that lasts not just in image, but in material reality.

And maybe the real question isn’t only what luxury brands owe us. It’s also what we, as customers, are willing to demand.

What do you think?

Why We Still Dress Like Carolyn You know those ultra-chic Calvin Klein years? That whole aesthetic, that’s her. And so much more.

Renowned for her elegance and effortless fits, she’s always been a style icon to me. With the series Love Story recently released on Disney+ (which I still haven’t watched), I found myself wondering what made her and her husband John F. Kennedy Jr., so captivating.

I think it’s the contrast: ’90s sportswear paired with chic, minimalist, almost office-siren silhouettes. Lavish yet “simple.” Biking, walking the dog, strolling through the park everyday moments elevated without trying too hard. It feels comfortable and realistic.

She makes me want to wear an all-black look: a turtleneck, tailored trousers, leather boots, my favorite ’90s silhouettes. What I love most is how, even as a fashion figure, she was often seen re-wearing the same pieces. That sense of consistency feels rare today. Despite all the sustainability conversations, it still seems like our biggest icons can’t be seen wearing the same thing twice which to me is honestly, one of the stupidest things about our era.

Her wardrobe channeled my forever brands: late-’90s Prada, Helmut Lang, and timeless staples from Hermès, Cartier, and Ray-Ban. It always felt like she knew exactly what suited her and stayed true to it. Quietly, she inspired far more than we realize even today, you can see echoes of her influence in campaigns by brands like Rouje and Saks Potts.

What do you think? Have you watched the show? I’m so curious about it !

Beijosss xx

It’s something very close to our hearts, as it wasn’t always possible, and we’re really proud to have turned it into a January ritual 🫶🏼

During these past weeks there, I gathered a few things I absolutely love, so I thought I’d share them.

1. Bikinis.
I’ll always be on the hunt for the perfect bikini because I’m extremely particular (about everything related to fit, really). I think that comes from being a designer. But bikinis are hard. I’m looking for a bikini bottom that’s cunt yet family-friendly (I know… sounds like a difficult deal), and a bikini top that makes my small chest look cute; and I think I’ve found it. I’ve spent so much time wondering what “type” of person I am. I love rock just as much as R&B, I’m a pilates princess and a gym rat, I’m girly pop and have my trashy sides, I’m French AND Brazilian, I’m drawn to softness and strength at the same time etc. Have we started confusing being all over the place with being balanced? Have you heard of being nuanced core? :p Clean girl, messy girl, weirdcore, barbiecore, I even heard about “having-a-life core.” Honestly, what happened to us to make us want to categorize each other so much? Is it a way to feel safe? To say, here I am, now you know whether you can like me or not, I’m this kind of girl, I’m that kind of girl.

Therefore, my biggest 2026 IN is freeing myself from who I think I should be to please everyone else and choosing myself and my intuition instead. I truly believe that if people actually took the time to care for themselves in a real, honest way, they’d be kinder to others. I also believe that these “cores” and social media are slowly killing creativity and uniqueness, the very things that make us special. I’m writing this mostly as a reminder to myself, but let’s build this muscle together and keep choosing it, whoever you are and whatever you do. Let’s embrace “treating-yourself-like-a-queen core” as the only one that really matters. Bisouszoubizou. length="0" type="image/jpeg"/>

The spatio-temporal loophole between Christmas and New Year

I always seem to use this spatio-temporal loophole moment between Christmas and New Year to: 1. digest the year, 2. understand it, 3. set my intentions for the next one, and 4. map out how to make them happen.

What I’ve taken away from my 4,000 videos watched and conversations had about the power of vision boards is mainly this: no one is going to come and make your life more enjoyable for you. It’s really up to you to go after it. To see the privileges you have, to recognize the opportunities in front of you, and to use them to your advantage.

And beyond all the “non-science” around vision boards, there is something very real behind them: it’s the same technique athletes use before a game. They visualize step by step their performance and their achievement, so they can replicate it on game day. Seeing yourself do it before you actually do it creates a mental path so you’re no longer starting from zero when the moment comes.

The idea is to create a framework for the year a kind of visual manifesto you can fall back on when you’re truly down and nothing seems motivating except the past version of yourself who still had some vision because she’d slept 10 hours, eaten well, and had a rested mind, far from social media and from the way Jean-Paul-Jacques lives his life (its a French saying that basically means “randoms”). Just you, your ideas, and your beliefs.

And of course, it has to be curated around you, not someone else’s life, not someone else’s choices. Yours.

Live4uNot4Them.

So that’s what I do during this week between Christmas and New Year. I go into standby mode pausing in order to restart better. I sort through what I want and what I no longer want, and above all, I take the time to manifest as much as possible for my future self… the one who might be completely overwhelmed in a few weeks or months :p

<3 for dress4u

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank" The hesitation before saying anything to your boss. The fear of asking when you don’t know something. I’ve beeeeeeen through those when I was younger and just thinking about it makes me want to hug baby Rubi.

With The Devil Wears Prada 2 coming out I couldn’t help but think about how that dynamic still runs fashion today. Everyone has a superior, and stress just trickles down the ladder. We absorb it, then pass it on. It’s like a cycle of power through fear dressed up as ambition. 👻

I looked at these looks and thought of Andrea. How hard it was for her & how she really just represents anyone trying to exist in this industry without losing themselves. Apparently fear keeps people in line (scary). I never really wanted to believe that. Sometimes I wonder if I just lack the ego this industry demands.

I don’t really have a conclusion for this one, just questions. But I know that for me, I’m grateful I got to build my own version of fashion through rusmin.fr, otherwise I probably would’ve gotten lost in the sauce. I actually kinda did get lost for a while especially in the influencer world. I realized lately I’ve tried to “tone it down”: wearing simpler colors, tapping into my creativity less, thinking it would make me more attractive to luxury brands. But that’s exactly the trap. So yeah, on some level, I’m still below someone. At least until I remember I’m actually free and I can do whatever the fuck I want.

So cheers to that. And let’s get back to being creative you dumbass.

(that’s me talking to me… or you too, if you need it.) <3

Of course, having a significant other feels embarrassing

When you remember the times you were with someone who didn’t value you...

Rubi Pigeon

I have this memory of seeing my friends, family members and even myself in past relationships, and thinking, damn !!! We deserve so much better.

Even me, remembering the times I accepted things I shouldn’t have, even when I wasn’t being treated well, I think, obviously, it’s embarrassing. Why did I put myself in those situations? Were we not honest with ourselves? We didn’t really want it, so we weren’t the best partner to each other?

And on the other end of the spectrum, why do we accept it? Why do we think it’s okay to spend time with people who don’t see our value thinking maybe there’s nothing better, so we settle, when really, we could be enough on our own?

Of course having a significant other feels embarrassing when they don’t value you. Have you read Vogue’s “Is Having a Boyfriend Embarrassing Now?” What’s embarrassing is giving your time, energy and affection to someone who isn’t happy to be there, who doesn’t share your moments, humor, or passions, and who isn’t generous with their time or love (OR MONEY). In 2026 a relationship shouldn’t drain you or make you feel obliged to entertain, serve, or be constantly available. Choosing to be with someone should always be a choice, not an obligation.

Your time is precious. Your projects, creations, and universe deserve a partner who invests as much as you do. It’s not about avoiding love if you don’t have those but about protecting your energy and peace of mind.

That’s why being single can be just as powerful a choice. I want to remember to spend my time wisely and choose love that elevates me. I’m done with nonchalant people, damn, life is too short to act like I don’t care. We want someone who’s happy to be here and actually shows it !

And all of this counts for friendships too. Sometimes it’s not just about settling or being satisfied with whatever comes. You shouldn’t wait for someone else to drain your energy to realize being alone can be enough. Depending on our desires and ambitions, I think it’s true that we only meet the right person when we’ve done the work on ourselves. And sometimes, it’s these very relationships that help us do that work.

Finding Your Rhythm

Finding your rhythm is everything, especially as a freelance / entrepreneur !!

Rubi Pigeon

Finding your rhythm is everything, especially as a freelance / entrepreneur !! Friends in 9 to 5s (that are actually 9 to 8 lol why did anyone ever sell the “9 to 5” dream, that’s mean) have structure « built in »while ours comes from self-made discipline. Not better, not worse, just different. This new school year I’ve added podcast @lepigeonnierpodcast host to my list of jobs, it may not sound like a job but honestly that’s how all my dream jobs started, as hobbies or little “bêtises” I chose to take seriously until they turned into something that pays off. With this new chapter come new calendar slots, and a rhythm I’m learning to protect. I woke up at 7am today and remembered how good it feels to be up before the world starts calling, before notifications kick in. Choosing yourself matters, not only when you’re pushing through work, but also when you decide to rest, because both are part of the rhythm. Life keeps shifting, and I want to keep shifting with it, staying intentional, asking myself do I really want this, is this truly mine, instead of running on autopilot. Have a wonderful weekend queens and kings.

In My Fitting Room Phase

When I was younger, my first “designer bag” was a fake Balenciaga City.

Rubi Pigeon

When I was younger, my first “designer bag” was a fake Balenciaga City. I was obsessed. Wore it everywhere, every day, like it was the real deal. That bag taught me a lot. It wasn’t perfect, but it helped me figure out what I truly wanted 😜 see where I’m going ? Then, when I could finally afford the real one, I didn’t hesitate. It got me thinking… maybe one-night stands are kind of like that too. A little "cheap" in the way that it doesn't require as much engagement as a couple, not always fulfilling—but sometimes necessary to explore what you don’t want. That said, can we agree that the ones you never see again are basically the fast fashion of intimacy? Quick thrill, low investment, cute for a second—but almost always disappointing the next morning. Now that I’m newly single, one thing’s clear: no text after midnight ever leads to anything worthwhile. It’s like emotional impulse shopping—you click, you regret, you return (or at least you should). And as a woman, pleasure doesn’t usually show up in 24 hours. It takes time, intention. My Womanizer, however? Quiet, consistent, and doesn’t leave socks, or unsolicited commentary (bahaha) in my bed. Highly recommend. Like fast fashion, those flings offer a quick dopamine hit. But if it was that good… why would it end overnight? And don’t even get me started on trying to “upcycle” one. We all know what happens to fast fashion when you wear it again, it falls apart. Same with people who should’ve stayed in the archives. Some things are best left in the donation bin of bad decisions. Still, I do think there’s value in the fitting room phase of life, trying on styles, seeing what fits, what flatters, what feels right.

No shame in the game. Anyway. That’s where my hangover brain went today. Not projecting—just processing. But if it hits close to home, maybe we’re in the same fitting room after all. #dress4unot4them

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" Everyone says “decenter men,” but at the end of the day, it’s really about re-centering yourself (but not too much that shit makes you go loco). BUT tuning in. Asking why you’re doing what you’re doing.

There are days I catch myself dressing more boyish/ oversized, low-key not because I feel like it, but because I don’t want to expect anything from guys. It’s weirdly peaceful when you remove yourself from the male gaze just with an outfit. I remember when I shaved my head 4 years ago and was single, life was a lot quieter than now being single with longer hair, I know it sounds stupid, but it’s true. And so sometimes it just feels relaxing to me to use clothes as an indicator that I’m not interested, even though it shouldn’t be an indicator at all.

There’s no shame in wanting to be seen. The only trap is pretending it’s not what you’re after and not understanding why it feels so shallow. Do what you want, but make sure it’s for reasons that don’t leave you feeling worse after, I tell myself these things. Do you trick your brain with clothes too?

#Dress4Unot4them

Thanks for reading!
