For the 19th year, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office Community Foundation proudly hosted Shop with the Sheriff, helping more than 200 local students prepare for the upcoming school year.

Selected through partnerships with Seminole County Public Schools Families in Need, Midway Safe Harbor, local Boys & Girls Clubs, and other community organizations, these students spent the day alongside members of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office enjoying breakfast, lunch, and, of course, the highlight of the day, a special shopping trip for back-to-school clothing and shoes at local Kohl’s locations.

While the shopping bags may be full at the end of the day, the true purpose of this event extends far beyond school clothes. Shop with the Sheriff is an opportunity to build confidence, strengthen self-esteem, and foster positive relationships between our youth and the men and women who serve this community every day.

Each child was paired with an SCSO team member, giving them the opportunity to spend time with deputies and SCSO members who served not only as shopping partners but also as mentors, role models, and friends.

4 - Florida Sheriff’s Association 2026 Summer Conference

As the Florida Sheriffs Association‘s 2026 Summer Conference came to a close, Sheriff Dennis Lemma concluded an extraordinary year of service as president of the Florida Sheriffs Association.

Throughout the past year, Sheriff Lemma championed the values that define Florida’s sheriffs: leadership, collaboration, accountability, and an unwavering commitment to public safety. Under his leadership, sheriffs from across all 67 counties strengthened partnerships, expanded training opportunities, shared innovative strategies, and worked together to address the challenges facing communities throughout our state.

The conference in Miami-Dade County brought together local, state, and federal partners to exchange ideas, strengthen relationships, and prepare for the year ahead. The conference concluded with the installation of the Florida Sheriffs Association’s 2026–2027 Board of Directors and Officers as Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods was sworn in as the association’s new president.

In his final address, Sheriff Lemma reflected on a year dedicated to ensuring Florida’s sheriffs had the resources, support, and partnerships necessary to continue serving their communities at the highest level. While his term as president has come to an end, his commitment to the citizens of Seminole County and the State of Florida remains as strong as ever.

5 - National Dog Day

The end of August also marks National Dog Day so we’re celebrating all the four-legged members of the SCSO family! From loyal companions to hardworking K9s, they make every day a little better and perform valuable functions for the entire community. Not all of our wonderful pups fit in one picture but know that we love and appreciate every single one of them!

June 1st marked the official start of Hurricane Season 2026. With the heat and humidity back at full blast, it's an important reminder to begin stocking up on supplies now rather than waiting until the stressful last minute before a storm arrives. This is doubly important if you live in an area that is already flood prone. A lot of prep goes a long way to keeping yourself, your family, and neighbors safe if we are hit with a major storm later this season.

4 - Academy Graduation Ceremony

In June, eight Deputy Sheriffs and eight Detention Deputies were sworn in by Sheriff Lemma in a ceremony attended by their family, friends, and SCSO members. These newly appointed Deputies were part of the Seminole County Law Enforcement and Corrections Academy. This is the first Law Enforcement and Corrections graduating classes of 2026.

5 - 5th Grade School Safety Patrol Visits D.C.

What an incredible experience for our 5th Grade School Safety Patrol students during their trip to Washington, D.C.! While visiting the National Law Enforcement Memorial, the students had the opportunity to meet with Sheriff Dennis Lemma, who was in the nation’s capital for National Naloxone Awareness Day. Sheriff Lemma took time to speak with the group, share words of encouragement, and recognize their commitment to leadership and service in their schools. We’re proud of these outstanding young ambassadors and hope they create memories that last a lifetime!

In the week before Memorial Day, we gathered at Cranes Roost Park to honor our fallen Seminole County law enforcement officers during our Annual Memorial Ceremony. The event paid tribute to our VI Heroes and fallen officers from the Longwood Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol, and Officer Robert German of the Windermere PD, all of whom had personal ties to Seminole.

The ceremony was a beautiful candlelight vigil that united community members in support and appreciation for the brave individuals who have sacrificed their lives in service to their community. It served as an important reminder of the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers and their families, providing a moment of reflection and gratitude.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the City of Altamonte and the Altamonte Springs Police Department for their incredible help and support in hosting this meaningful event. Their dedication and commitment to honoring our heroes made the evening truly special, and we are immensely thankful for their partnership.

4 - Wildfire Response

As Seminole County continues to experience severe drought conditions our Alert Helicopter team has provided a critical eye in the sky to monitor for potential wildfires and help extinguish them before they threaten homes. One of our critical tools for doing this is the Bambi Bucket, seen in action in this video.

In May we took the chance to express our heartfelt gratitude to the incredible citizens who volunteer their valuable time in service to our agency and the community of Seminole County. Our annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner was a chance for us to serve and celebrate these dedicated individuals.

Our volunteers’ unwavering support and commitment make them an essential part of our team, and we are truly grateful for everything they do. 4 - Burn Ban Active in Seminole County

A mandatory burn ban has been in effect in Seminole County since Friday, April 24, 2026. It will remain in effect until the drought index drops below 500 for seven consecutive days or until further notice.

WHAT IS A BURN BAN?

A burn ban prohibits outdoor burning to prevent accidental and avoidable wildfires. They occur when there has been an extensive drought and dry vegetation could ignite easily and start a wildfire. Burn bans are activated countywide when the drought index reaches or exceeds 500 and there is no rain in the foreseeable future.

BURN BANS - DOs & DON’Ts:

🛑 Don’t use campfires, fire pits, or fire pit grills

🛑 Don’t cook outdoors in close proximity to heavily wooded areas

🛑 Don’t burn trash or anything on the ground

✅ Above-ground charcoal, gas, and electric grills are OK to use

✅ Clear dead vegetation from your yard and gutters

✅ Call 911 if you see smoke or fire in your area

DOES THE BURN BAN APPLY TO ME?

The burn ban is applicable for all of Seminole County, including unincorporated areas and within cities.

WHAT IF SOMEONE IS VIOLATING THE BURN BAN?

To report violation of the burn ban, call the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at (407) 665-6650, or 911 if burning is an imminent threat. Any person who violates the burn ban can be subject to a civil citation not to exceed $500 per violation or by imprisonment for a term not to exceed 60 days or both.

5 - Dog Appreciation Month

April was Dog Appreciation Month, and what better way to celebrate than highlighting some of our furry coworkers here at SCSO.

Starting on the left, K9 Sigi and Deputy Sheriff Brooke Alley work daily in our Department of School Safety, specializing in firearms detection. Sigi’s unique howl, known as the Sigi Siren, perfectly mimics a police siren. When off-duty, K9 Sigi loves nothing more than chasing his beloved tennis ball.

Next up, K9 Dragus also works the beat in Seminole County schools, trained to search for contraband with his two-legged human Deputy Sheriff Matt Simonetti. When not training to keep our children safe, he enjoys long walks through the park, followed up with a rewarding treat or five.

Our third featured K9, Tucker, works as a comfort K9 in our local elementary schools with his handler, Deputy Sheriff Crystal Kirkland. He provides a comforting presence for all the students and his warm disposition and loe for belly rubs makes him an irreplaceable member of our community. When not on the job, you can find Tucker making a ruckus with his favorite squeaky toys and begging for the sweet taste of his favorite snack, strawberries and apples.

Our fourth featured K9 is an amazing German Shepherd, Yogi. Partnered with Deputy Sheriff Brian Welch, Yogi is a full-service patrol and narcotics detection K9, always ready to serve and protect our community with unwavering loyalty and skill. In his downtime, Yogi loves hanging out with his buddy Hank, a playful French Bulldog. Whether he’s leaping onto kitchen countertops, picnic tables, or sofas, Yogi’s enthusiasm for life is truly infectious.

Join us in closing out Dog Appreciation Month by recognizing the hard work and dedication of all our K9s and K9 deputies. Their contributions to our community are immeasurable, and we’re grateful for their service and companionship.

We had the privilege of celebrating the incredible creativity and dedication of young artists from all over our community. The award ceremony recognized and highlighted each student’s unique artistic expression and commitment to making healthy, positive choices. The event was not just about showcasing artwork, but about emphasizing the powerful messages behind each piece.

We have been made aware of individuals pretending to be members of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office calling residents to tell them that they have missed jury duty or have an active warrant. The numbers have been "spoofed" to make them appear they're coming from a legitimate source. If you receive a call like this HANG UP. The Seminole County Sheriff's Office will NEVER call you requesting digital signatures. You can report these fraudulent phone calls by contacting our non-emergency line at 407-665-6650.

5 - National Puppy Day

National Puppy Day took place on March 23rd, so in honor of the holiday, please enjoy these photos of K9s Storm and Bella when they were puppies. They each serve very important roles in our agency and community. From locating certain electronic devices and comforting children in our schools, our K9s do it all. We hope our little pups bring a smile to your day!

Deputy Jordan Gill earned her bachelor’s degree in forensic science from the University of Central Florida and is currently pursuing her master’s in the same field.

In 2021, she joined the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, working in the Latent Print Unit of the Forensics Department. She loved the role because it was the perfect blend of science and attention to detail. During her time there, she had the opportunity to attend the Community Law Enforcement Academy (CLEA), which gave her a broader perspective of the agency, and also participated in the ride-along program.

Deputy Gill was always drawn to the idea of being a Deputy, believing she could better serve her community by preventing crime rather than just analyzing it after the fact. This passion led her to enroll in the Seminole State Law Enforcement Academy, where she was honored to serve as the class leader and became the first recipient of the Bobby Fisher and Patti Long Law Enforcement Academy Police Standards (L.E.A.P.S) Endowed Scholarship.

Now, a Deputy Sheriff, she cherishes every moment of her new career as a Deputy and feels grateful to use her background making a difference on the front lines.

Our agency will never call or text you about warrants for your arrest or missed Jury Duty. These are scams. Suspects claiming to be law enforcement often demand Bitcoin or gift cards for these bogus infractions. If you are contacted, ignore them!

5 - K9 Program Presentation

Last week K-9 handlers Amanda Reres and Randy Payette presented to the Sanford Civil Air Patrol cadet program. During the presentation, cadets received an overview of the Sheriff’s Office K-9 program and learned about K-9 capabilities during search responses, including missing person investigations. Thank you for having us!

SCSO hosted its annual Christmas Village event again earlier this month, bringing joy to over 500 children in our community with games, crafts, a visit from Santa, and gifts from “Santa’s Toy Shop.” A huge thank you to our presenting sponsor AdventHealth and all the other amazing sponsors who made this event possible! 4 - Honoring Our Fallen: Deputy Matt Miller & George Pfeil

The end of December marks a period of mourning for SCSO as we remember two of our fallen heroes, Deputies Matt Miller and George Pfeil.

Deputy Matt Miller was our sixth deputy to die in the line of duty on December 26, 2011. Matt was a dedicated deputy who worked road patrol from his motorcycle. As we take time to pay tribute to Matt in this video, his family asks that we remember all of those law enforcement officers who willingly assume personal risk day-in-and-day-out to keep us safe.

On December 29th, 1977, volunteer deputy George Pfeil, a recent NYPD retiree, walked in to a fatal ambush. In this memorial video, his family shares personal home movies and pictures of the father of four, family man, and lifelong public servant. We will never forget his sacrifice.

5 - SCSO Santa Visits Inspire

Earlier this week, Santa and his Elves stopped by Inspire of Central Florida to spread holiday cheer. Inspire provides a safe, compassionate, and educational environment for adults with developmental disabilities. They got gifts from Santa and his Elves played games and enjoyed a holiday feast. It’s a day they, and we, look forward to all year!

5 - Tunnel to Towers 5k Run & Walk

Earlier this month, members of the SCSO participated in the Tunnel to Towers Orlando, FL 5K Run & Walk event at Cranes Roost Park in the City of Altamonte. This annual event honors and supports first responders and military service members. The sole purpose of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to honor the legacy of love given to us by Stephen Siller, FDNY, who laid down his life on 9/11 when he took his final heroic steps as he ran with his gear strapped on his back through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the World Trade Center to help save others . The SCSO was honored to receive the Largest Law Enforcement Team award. We are so proud of you all and we thank you for showing your support of all the heroes that lost their lives on 9/11.

Every year, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office organizes a heartwarming and impactful back-to-school event for students who could use a little extra help getting ready for the new school year. Our annual Shop with the Sheriff event features breakfast, school clothes shopping, and lunch, all while spending quality time with members of the Sheriff's Office. Shopping is certainly the highlight, with students heading home with new clothes and shoes for school, but our goal is for them also to gain a boost in confidence and self-esteem. This event offers valuable mentoring opportunities and helps students view deputies as positive role models and friends. A big thank you to AdventHealth and our other business and community partners who helped us make this event another big success.

2 - Badges + Backstories: Elvin Ramirez

Detention Deputy Elvin Ramirez's biological father stepped away when he was about six months old. From that moment, his father, who raised him, became a significant role model. His father took on the responsibility of raising Elvin at the young age of 16 or 17, a decision that deeply impacted Elvin's actions and mindset as an adolescent and young adult, and even now as a father himself. Elvin always aimed to embody the leadership and servitude his father showed him from such a young age. He became a reliable source of advice and support, especially for young men without guidance in their lives. With a big heart for the younger generation, Elvin was determined to ensure that no one had to grow up without support.

At 18, Elvin and his father discussed changing his name, but they felt it was unnecessary for their relationship. However, at 25, when Elvin learned he was going to be a father, the conversation resurfaced. They realized that an adult adoption would not only change his name but also make his father legally his father. Overjoyed by this possibility, they pursued it, and it became a defining moment in their lives.

This experience influenced Elvin's decision to enter law enforcement. He believed the values instilled in him could help others in similar situations and benefit the community as a whole. Elvin always prioritized service before self, committed to helping anyone he could.

4 - Super Speeder Law

Be warned: under Florida's new "Super Speeder" law, drivers exceeding the speed limit by 50mph or traveling in excess of 100 mph, can face up to thirty days in jail and a $500 fine. Super Speeding endangers lives.

5 - Back To School

The first few weeks of school is in the books! We want to remind everyone to continue to give yourselves and your children enough time to get to and from school safely. Please slow down in school zones and eliminate distractions like phones and other devices. Our School Safety Division had a great first couple of weeks back to the 2025/2026 school year. We hope all the kiddos did too!

Manager Dieidre Askew was a high school and college basketball player whose journey was nothing short of remarkable. Known for her exceptional scoring and shot blocking skills on the court, she was highly recruited and earned a full scholarship to play basketball for Stetson University in Deland, FL. She had the potential to ascend to the highest levels of women's basketball, on an international level (as WNBA was not founded yet), but ultimately chose a career in public service. Dieidre was inducted into Stetson University's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001 and Seminole High School's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2024.

Dieidre's transition from the basketball court to the realm of public service was a natural progression of her leadership skills and commitment to making a difference. Her experiences as a team player and leader on the court translated well into her role at the SCSO. Manager Askew currently helps lead our communication division.

2 - New Deputies Sworn In

On June 17th, 14 Deputy Sheriffs and 14 Detention Deputies were sworn in by Sheriff Lemma in a ceremony attended by their family, friends, and SCSO members. These newly appointed Deputies were part of the Seminole County Law Enforcement and Corrections Academy. The SCSO achieved this significant milestone in 2024 by receiving approval and certification from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission to establish the Seminole County Law Enforcement and Corrections Academy. This newly formed program comprises both sworn law enforcement and certified corrections academies, designed to enhance the quality and effectiveness of training for future deputies, detention deputies, and officers. This is the first Law Enforcement graduating class and the second Corrections graduating class.

Additionally, seven new Deputy Sheriffs and two new Detention Deputies joined the ranks of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office. They were sworn in by Sheriff Lemma at a badge pinning ceremony attended by their family and friends.

3 - Honoring Deputy Robert Moore

The definition of a hero is someone who runs toward danger to save others, with no regard for their own safety. On June 9, 1975, Deputy Robert Moore did just that when a fire broke out at the old Seminole County jail. That day he laid down his life saving inmates trapped in suffocating smoke. His wife and daughter share remembrances of the type of man he was in this memorial video.

6 - Welcome K9 Storm

Please join us in welcoming our newest member of the SCSO family, K9 Storm. Storm is Detective Geraldine Blay-Raffo partner and assigned to the Digital Forensics Unit. Storm is a Labrador Retriever trained to detect an odor unique to electronic devices. Welcome to the family Storm!

On a recent patrol, deputies discovered numerous bicycles, bike parts, tires and tubes scattered along a nature trail in the Spring Hammock Preserve. It was not clear how they got there or to whom they belong. But it's a reminder, if you leave your bike, lock it up, so it doesn't end up like this!

2 - K9 Siri Retires

Join us in wishing a very happy retirement to K9 Siri! Born in 2016, Siri is a rescue chocolate Labrador Retriever with a unique talent — she's expertly trained to detect odors from electronic devices. Siri joined our agency in 2017 and has been an invaluable member of the Digital Forensics Unit ever since. Her dedication and hard work have made a significant impact on our operations.

As Siri embarks on this new chapter, she will be living with her beloved handler, Detective Geraldine Blay Raffo, ensuring she is surrounded by love and familiarity. Thank you, Siri, for your years of service and dedication. Enjoy your well-deserved retirement!

2 - Georgia Crews Cold Case

Forty-five years ago the body of 12-year-old murder victim Georgia Crews was discovered behind a Fern Park Shopping Center. For decades Major Case detectives and Cold Case volunteers have worked to find her killer. Sheriff Dennis Lemma says he’s hopeful new DNA testing will provide answers.

Seniors looking online for friendship or romance, beware. Online scammers often make these connections to get money from victims. They get them thousands of dollars for some fake emergency, and make excuses why they can’t be there to meet the victim in person. Please watch and share.

5 - Habitat For Humanity Women’s Build

This month Captain Latisha Howard led an SCSO team for the 2025 Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build. Women Build is an annual event where teams compete to raise money and give back to the community through build projects and fundraisers. Tasks for the day included siding and painting. Great job to everyone that participated!

We recently hosted an Honor Guard Competition. Local teams were invited to compete in three categories - uniform inspection, posting of colors, and an exhibition.

This year’s first place winner was Seminole County Sheriff’s Office. The winner of the Esprit De Corps (judge’s choice) award was the Orange County Sheriff's Office. We’re proud of our unit and their continued dedication to memorializing our six fallen SCSO deputies.

Beware of fraudsters impersonating law enforcement via calls or texts! Scammers may claim to be from a Correctional Facility, falsely promising an inmate’s release after a payment for a GPS ankle monitor is made via Zelle, Apple Pay, or PayPal.

‼️ This is a scam! Correctional Facility staff will never request digital payments over the phone for an inmate’s release. If you receive such a call, DO NOT PAY and report it immediately. Stay alert and protect yourself from fraud!

Last week we had the privilege of witnessing the incredible creativity and dedication of young artists from across our community. The award ceremony was a vibrant celebration, shining a spotlight on each student's unique artistic expression and their commitment to living a drug-free life. This month we also celebrated Florida's School Crossing Guard Appreciation Day by honoring the amazing dedication of our Seminole County Sheriff's Office School Crossing Guards. These heroes ensure the safety of over 4,500 crossings each day, contributing to a safer community for everyone. At our annual Crossing Guard Appreciation and Awards Banquet, we had the pleasure of recognizing Brenda Whitaker, awarded the Seminole County Sheriff's Office School Crossing Guard of the Year. Congratulations, Brenda!

On January 7th, Sheriff Dennis M. Lemma was officially sworn into his third term by former Seminole County Sheriff's Office Sheriff Don Eslinger. Sheriff Eslinger administered the oath of office to Sheriff Lemma during a private ceremony. As Chief Law Enforcement Officer, Sheriff Lemma will direct the agency’s enforcement, investigative, correctional, juvenile and support services, leading a work force of more than 1,400 employees.

Early last week, members of the SCSO, City of Oviedo, and Oviedo PD came together to celebrate the 90th birthday of Beatrice Jones, an Oviedo resident. 🎂 We hope she had a wonderful day and we thank her for allowing us to join her celebration! 🎉

The SCSO graciously thanks our Christmas Village presenting sponsor, AdventHealth Altamonte, the volunteers who assisted with the event, and the business and community members for their generous donations that made it all possible! This year we hosted a carnival theme and successfully served over 400 children and their families. They were treated to games, food, and "Santa's Toy Shop," where parents and guardians selected gifts for their children on Christmas Day. We hope everyone had a fantastic holiday season!

2 - ACTT Program 5-Year Anniversary

In October of this year, SCSO celebrated a major milestone: the five year anniversary of our Accepting Change Through Treatment (ACTT) and Renew programs. To commemorate the occasion, we invited several program alumni and facilitators to talk about their experience, the positive changes they've made in their lives, and how the program can change your life as long as you're willing to do the work to succeed.

These programs were established by Sheriff Lemma inside the John E. Polk Correctional Facility to help rehabilitate inmates addicted to opioids and other substances. Those inside are able to begin treatment to overcome their addictions with support from trained staff. After being released, they are helped by a variety of wraparound services, including help locating housing, job placement programs, and ongoing medical treatment provided by AdventHealth.

SCSO is committed to solving our ongoing addiction crisis from a variety of angles and the ACTT program is vital piece of the puzzle. We hope you enjoy this video and are as proud of these people for turning their lives around as we are!

4 - Matt Miller and George Pfeil Memorials

The end of December also marks a somber time at the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office as we remember two of our fallen deputies, Matt Miller and George Pfeil. Deputy Miller’s End of Watch came December 26, 2011, while Deputy Pfeil’s was December 29, 1977. We miss both of them dearly and will never forget the ultimate sacrifice they made.

Earlier this month, in partnership with the Florida Legislature, we were able to dedicate a roadway in Longwood, near where Deputy Pfeil was killed, in his memory. Deputy Miller has had a roadway near his accident dedicated since 2018. 5 - K9 Tucker Becomes A Stuffed Animal

We are over the moon with gratitude to Heathrow Elementary School for transforming our beloved Comfort K9, Tucker, into the most adorable stuffed animal! This cuddly creation is not only a tribute to Tucker's comforting presence but also an incredible way to spread love and joy to students and faculty alike. Tucker's stuffed twin will surely bring smiles and warmth to everyone who hugs it!

At the end of October we held our 7th Annual Halloween Safety Spooktacular. Please enjoy this video of the sights and sounds from this year's event. Hosted by The Hartford and brought to life with the support of Seminole State College of Florida, K92.3 and STAR 94.5, it was a night to remember. Sheriff Dennis Lemma and the entire SCSO team extend a warm "thank you" to all the families who joined us. 5 - Spreading Joy With Basket Brigade Florida!

Two weekends ago, team members from the SCSO had the privilege of joining Cox Media Group's Annual Basket Brigade. The baskets were delivered to residents of Seminole County, aiming to make a positive impact for families in need. Basket Brigade Florida embodies the spirit of Thanksgiving, offering hope and friendship through the simple act of sharing a meal. We are truly honored to have been part of such an inspiring event and hope everyone had an excellent holiday!

👻🎃 This Wednesday, October 30th, we will have our Annual Halloween Safety Spooktacular, presented by The Hartford! Gather the family and come dressed in your favorite costumes for FREE Trunk-or-Treating 🍬🍫🍭 and snow cones served up by our Snow Patrol while supplies last. We’re excited to have various community partners join us for this family-friendly event with music 🎶 and entertainment. 5 - New Bike for Elementary School Student

We are thrilled to share a heartwarming story from Walker Elementary School. Earlier this month, one of their students experienced the unfortunate event of having her bicycle stolen. But, in a beautiful turn of events, our incredible School Safety Team stepped up in a big way. They surprised her with an identical new bike, a shiny new helmet, and a sturdy bike lock to keep it safe in the future. This act of kindness truly embodies the spirit of our community. Let's all take a moment to appreciate and thank our School Safety Team for their generosity and quick action.

SCSO Financial Crimes Sergeant Will Stone was invited on local media partner Fox 35’s morning show this month to discuss financial fraud perpetrated on the elderly. Seniors are the most likely group of people to fall for scams so it is of critical importance that we spread education to them and their families on how to prevent these tragedies. Some tips:

• When there’s a sense of urgency on the other end of the phone, take a step back and breathe. Scammers often try to make things seem super critical so that we rush and don’t properly think our actions through.

• We will never contact you over the phone for things like failure to appear in court or for jury duty. Do not send any money to people claiming these things.

• We will never ask for money over the phone and will never ask you to go out and purchase a gift card to pay any fines or legal fees.

• Be wary of people you meet on dating websites who may be trying to lure you into giving them money by creating a sense of intimacy.

4 - Deputy Cleveland Jacobs Memorial

September 14th marks a somber day in SCSO history. On that date in 1922, Deputy James Cleveland Jacobs became Seminole County’s first deputy to die in the line of duty. He was shot and killed by a drifter suspected of theft. Please help us honor his legacy by watching this short film, featuring interviews with living descendants. Deputy Jacobs was a local pioneer whose family legacy of public service is as old as our country itself.

School Resource Deputy David Attaway was the star of the show at a Hagerty High School function, busting out some seriously impressive dance moves! Deputy Attaway showed us all that a little rhythm can go a long way. It’s moments like these that remind us how important it is to have a good time and build community spirit.
