I hope everyone has eased into the semester as best they can. I know for many it’s hitting the ground running- if you are feeling in need of extra support don’t forget we have a wonderful Student Success department that can help you. Tutoring services should be up and running soon, so keep an eye out for that schedule. Reach out to professors and other trusted faculty, staff and friends to help you through these first couple of weeks if it is starting to feel like a lot and need that support! Counseling Services are also an amazing place to get extra help! Walk-in hours are M-F, 10am and 2pm.

Everyone get ready for the first week back to campus! First-time Freshmen have moved in and I’m sure are ready for all the fun things to come this weekend. New students, make sure to refer back to the schedules emailed to you with all the fun orientation stuff happening this week and moving on into Rocker Launch next week for all of campus to participate.

So many of next week’s events are big Mines Traditions- with the President’s Picnic, Beanie hat decorating, and much more! Check out the schedule below.

We hope everyone had a relaxing, and fun filled summer back home, during an internship, or out exploring. It’s great to have everyone back on campus and students enjoying the new spaces in Surbeck and the Dining Hall already.

Let’s get this new school year started!

Celebrate the triumph of good over evil at India Club’s Holi Festival tomorrow, 3pm in the O’Harra Stadium lot! Enjoy some Late Night Breakfast on Sunday, 9pm (Dining is getting active for finals week so feast on some good grub!). If you’re thinking dang I wish I was more involved on campus this past year, heed the Org Fair, Rocker Connections, and Rocker Days flyers below.

Make your way to the Apex Gallery next week for one last chance to check out the Student Art Exhibit! STEM brains and art brains aren’t so different after all… Also slightly uncomfortable (but valuable!) conversations next Tuesday in lower Surbeck—share your thoughts on a prompt, walk away with a handful of grapes.

Hikes, improv, Super Smash, and more. If an N64 is present Thursday evening I’ll be tempted to pop in and crush some souls with blue Kirby.

Get your succulents & sweets on next Wednesday in the South Lounge. Also prep yourself for a public speaking competition, submit art of any form (March 23-27), signup to volunteer at the Cultural Expo, tumble with the cheer team, and celebrate a possible resurgence of The Aurum…? People say (I think) a campus is only as good as its student newspaper.

Safe travels back, in time for beautiful spring weather (once this heat wave passes at least).

If you’re planning to travel for spring break but are just missing a vehicle (or have an extra seat in yours), your peers may have you covered. Check out the new P2P Rideshare channel on our Discord. Post ride offers and requests in a safe space to your fellow Hardrockers.

You’ve got two more chances to hit up “12 Angry Jurors” tonight and Saturday! Doors open at 6:30, show starts at 7. Expect knife wielding, screaming, fighting, and a dramatically hung jury! As always, it’s free for Mines students, faculty, and staff—$10 for everyone else.

Free cake never tasted so good than during Grubby’s birthday! He’s turning 73(ish) on Saturday at the halftime of the men’s basketball game. Relatively quiet week after that. Some yoga, baked goods, and workshops on the horizon that fill up quickly, so RSVP sooner than later.

Finals: when time is warped, caffeine becomes a companion, and a full night’s rest is the furthest thing from reality. Luckily there are distractions to get you through the muck: yoga (11-1) and kittens (12-2) today in Surbeck, and basketball tomorrow (1 & 3) in the King Center.
