Over the weekend, Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) said the Senate GOP has no plans to help conservative Ken Paxton defeat fake pastor James Talarico in Texas.

“We in the Senate don’t have the money budgeted for Texas. We need help from the president,” Kennedy told The Sunday Briefing on Fox News.

The Senate GOP had plenty of money to spend on Texas when they were trying to defeat a conservative, but when it comes to defeating a Marxist like James Talarico, they’ve got nothing.

We know the national party committees are controlled by party leaders, so they naturally favor pro-leadership candidates — that’s not new.

What’s unique here is that the Senate GOP took sides in the Republican primary election and spent over $100 million of party money attacking Ken Paxton. You would think that since they spent so much attacking the party’s eventual nominee, they would feel some obligation to help him now.

Sadly, that’s not the case.

You may hear some party leaders say they “hope” Ken Paxton wins and they “hope” President Trump helps him, but they’ve closed their wallets and are quietly rooting for him to lose.

Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) is taking the lead in Congress to codify the reforms proposed by President Donald Trump’s Anti-Fraud Task Force. The Task Force, led by Vice President J.D. Vance, has already uncovered more than $200 billion in fraud against federal programs.

Two of the biggest scandals have been in Minnesota and California. In Minnesota, 68 people have already been convicted for their roles in a $250 million child-nutrition fraud scheme. In California, one defendant pleaded guilty to running a $270 million Medicaid fraud scam — charging the government for prescription drugs never delivered to patients.

Vance’s Task Force has already stopped more than $50 billion in fraudulent payments. And that’s just the beginning. The Trump Justice Department is prosecuting perpetrators and investigating others. Democrat politicians may be involved, too, as some of the Minnesota fraudsters funneled money to their campaigns.

As leader of the Senate Anti-Fraud Task Force, Schmitt has already introduced a bill to denaturalize immigrants convicted of fraud or other serious crimes. Now he’s working on new legislation to build on Vice President Vance’s recommendations. Ideally, Schmitt’s reforms could even pass the Senate with only 50 votes on the next budget reconciliation package.

This is a fight conservatives need to take up. Liberal states, liberal politicians, and liberal campaigns are all involved. That’s why they let it happen. Cracking down on federal fraud will not only protect taxpayers — it will actually de-fund the Left!

In the interview with a left-wing political group, Talarico touted his fight in the Texas Legislature to prevent public schools from teaching Bible stories as part of their English curriculum. Talarico called the effort “insidious” and the Bible stories “propaganda.”

In the words of Senator Ted Cruz, “Um, wut?”

Of course, Talarico is all for propaganda in our classrooms. Like all leftists, he just wants to indoctrinate our children in socialism, Black Lives Matter racism, and woke cancel culture.

Don’t let this red state fool you. Kansas could be a close race this year. Polls have given Senator Roger Marshall a consistent but modest lead all year. As South Carolina Republicans consider their choices in the U.S. Senate primary runoff, some may be undecided.

On the one hand, they have Senator Lindsey Graham’s sister, Darline Graham, who has been endorsed by President Trump.

On the other hand, they have Congressman Ralph Norman, a solid MAGA conservative who has fought for their values for years.

This could make the choice difficult for some. And since Darline Graham has no record, there’s no way for voters to verify her qualifications.

But if you set aside the president’s endorsement — which is clearly driven by his friendship with Senator Graham — and follow the money, the choice becomes clear.

According to recent FEC filings, voters in the Palmetto State are about to be bombarded with ads urging them to oppose Ralph Norman.

Here’s where the money is coming from:

• Security is Strength PAC and Palmetto Action — The two super PACs historically tied to Lindsey Graham. Some of the donations are from disclosed donors, while others are from third-party intermediaries to avoid disclosure (aka “dark money”). But it’s safe to assume they’re funded by the same interests that supported Lindsey Graham and his policies.

• National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) — The party committee controlled by Senator John Thune and the Republican leadership in the Senate. Naturally, it favors pro-leadership candidates.

• Invest in Tomorrow Colation PAC — The super PAC funded by the green energy lobby that is on a self-described “retribution tour” against Freedom Caucus conservatives who pushed to phase out renewable-energy tax credits in the One Big Beautiful Bill. This group funded the ads that defeated Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) earlier this month, and now they’re spending big to defeat Ralph Norman in this Senate race.

What does all this tell Republican voters in South Carolina?

It says that a vote for Darline Graham is a vote for someone who will likely continue Lindsey Graham’s policies, be loyal to John Thune, and vote to protect corporate welfare schemes.

When you consider that Lindsey Graham had a disappointing 59% lifetime conservative rating, that John Thune is currently on a 5-week recess instead of fighting for the SAVE America Act, and that corporate welfare has enriched the green energy lobby to the point where it can buy elections, the interests funding Darline Graham’s campaign prove she’s not the best choice.

And for those who may think President Trump will keep her in line, he will only be in office for two of the six years of her Senate term. Who’s going to hold her accountable when he’s gone?

Path to Victory

If the election were held today, we believe Ralph Norman would win. One poll reported this week had Norman leading Graham by 12 points in the runoff. This makes sense given that two-thirds of the August 11th primary voters supported someone other than Graham, even though they knew she was Lindsey Graham’s sister and President Trump’s choice. Voters didn’t buy it.

But the election is not today, and a barrage of ads is about to hit the state, telling voters that Ralph Norman is a Trump-hating liberal. It’s garbage. But they have to do this because if they explained the real reasons why they oppose him, Norman would win in a landslide. They know that South Carolina Republicans would love to have a senator who fights for their values — even if that means standing up to John Thune and corporate interests.

Here’s what you can do to help:

1. Contact Republicans you know in South Carolina and urge them to ignore the false ads and vote for Ralph Norman on August 25th. Turnout will be very low, so every vote has a big impact.

And this came after he was outspent by the third and fourth-place finishers. Norman is now positioned to win a large majority of the voters who didn’t vote for him or for Graham in the primary.

Tomorrow, Thursday, August 6, at 8:30 a.m., the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will vote on a resolution to hold Dr. Anthony Fauci in contempt of Congress.

Not censure him. Not send him another letter. Refer him to the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia for criminal prosecution.

If you have followed this fight for the last six years through the shifting guidance, the shuttered schools, the Barrington scientists smeared as fringe cranks, the emails pried loose one FOIA lawsuit at a time, then the committee vote tomorrow is the closest thing to a reckoning the Senate has managed to produce.

It deserves our attention and clear understanding, because the case is stronger than the coverage suggests.

Here is what happened, what the resolution actually does, and what to watch for.

What Happened on July 29

Chairman Paul subpoenaed Fauci to appear before the committee, which is investigating risky gain-of-function research and the origins of COVID-19. The subpoena letter told him plainly what the subject would be: the origins of COVID-19, risky life sciences research, and his tenure as a federal employee.

Fauci showed up, he was sworn in, and he read a prepared opening statement discussing his years in government, his prior testimony to Congress, and the records the committee has released.

Then he announced he would not answer a single question and invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.

He kept invoking it. By the end of the morning, he did so 111 times.

Chairman Paul overruled the privilege, directed him to answer, and warned him he could be held in contempt. “There will be repercussions to your refusal to testify today,” Paul told him. Fauci refused again.

Paul said he genuinely wanted to hear from Fauci — an apology, some acknowledgment that errors in judgment were made. None of it came.

The Pardon Problem

Here is the part that makes this different from every other contempt fight you have watched fizzle.

On January 19, 2025, in the final hours of his presidency, Joe Biden granted Anthony Fauci what the pardon document calls “A Full and Unconditional Pardon” for any federal offenses he may have committed from January 1, 2014 through the date of the pardon — anything arising from his service as NIAID director, as a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force and COVID-19 Response Team, or as Chief Medical Advisor to the President.

Think about what that means.

The Fifth Amendment protects a witness from being compelled to give testimony that could be used to prosecute him. That is the entire basis of the privilege. Where the possibility of prosecution has been removed, courts have long held that the privilege generally has nothing left to protect. It is why prosecutors grant immunity to compel testimony in the first place.

Biden’s pardon removed the possibility of prosecution for that eleven-year window — the exact window covering the decisions Americans want answers for.

Paul tested this directly at the hearing. He asked Fauci whether, at any point during the period the pardon covers, he destroyed a federal record or instructed anyone else to do so. He narrowed the question explicitly to the pardoned period. Fauci still refused, citing the Fifth.

”We believe that with his … immunity from criminal liability, that he didn’t need to hide behind” the Fifth Amendment, Paul told reporters afterward. “That’ll be a legal question.”

Indeed, it will. But it is a question the pardon created for him. The pardon was issued to protect him. It may turn out to be the instrument that strips him of his last place to hide.

The Waiver Problem

There is a second argument in the contempt resolution, and it is the one with the cleanest precedent.

Fauci did not remain silent. He gave a prepared statement addressing the very subject matter the committee summoned him to discuss — his federal tenure, his previous testimony, and the documents the committee produced. He spoke about the substance, but then refused to be questioned about it.

You cannot testify selectively. You do not get to deliver your version of events and then pull the curtain shut before anyone tests it. The resolution’s finding is that Fauci waived the privilege through his own opening statement.

If that sounds familiar, it should. In 2013, IRS official Lois Lerner sat before a House committee, read an opening statement asserting she had done nothing wrong, and then took the Fifth. The House held her in contempt for doing so.

What Happens Next

Read the operative language, and you will see how narrow and procedural this is. It’s a feature, not a bug.

That is the whole mechanism. Congress does not convict anyone. It certifies a record and hands it to a prosecutor.

The path from here runs in three steps:

1. Committee vote — Thursday. Republicans hold the majority on HSGAC. The resolution is expected to be reported out.

2. Full Senate vote. A committee referral is not self-executing, which means the chamber must act. What will Senate Democrats do?

3. Justice Department decides. Criminal contempt under 2 U.S.C. § 192 is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 12 months in prison.

What We Will Hear from the Left

Fauci’s defense is that this is personal. He accused Paul of an “unhinged obsession” with him and said the only purpose of the hearing was to extract something to vindicate Paul’s public promises to see him behind bars. Committee Democrats echoed it: ranking member Gary Peters called the exercise “relitigating the past,” and Sen. Richard Blumenthal called it a “show trial.”

That is a complaint about motive, not a legal defense. A witness under a valid subpoena does not get to decline on the grounds that he dislikes the chairman.

Fauci’s lawyers will also argue the pardon does not eliminate all jeopardy — it covers conduct through January 19, 2025, but it cannot immunize him for anything after that date, and it cannot immunize him against a perjury or false-statements charge arising from new testimony. That is a real argument, but if Fauci had simply chosen to tell the truth now, he would have nothing to fear.

Why This Matters

Chairman Paul’s contempt resolution is important because the alternative is that a subpoena means nothing.

Set Fauci aside and ask the institutional question: can a Senate committee compel testimony from a former senior federal official about how he spent taxpayer money and what he told the American people? If the answer is that he can appear, make his case in an opening statement, refuse every question, and walk out with a pardon in his pocket and no consequence whatsoever, then congressional oversight is nothing more than a ceremony.

Thursday’s vote is not the end of anything. It is the committee putting a record on the table and forcing everyone downstream — the full Senate, the U.S. Attorney, the courts — to decide in public whether accountability applies here.

And it shows. DSA candidates are winning stunning victories in Democrat primaries this year — in local races, state races, and U.S. House races. Their extremist ideas are starting to leak into Senate campaigns, too.

This is where Graham Platner — the disgraced Maine Democrat Senate candidate with the Nazi tattoos — came from. Same for James Talarico, the Texas Democrat who says God is non-binary and the American flag is a “complicated symbol.” Same for Abdul El-Sayed, the frontrunner in the Senate Democrat primary in Michigan, who was just endorsed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her “Squad” of Marxist congresswomen.

Faced with this communist insurgency, what is the Republican Establishment’s strategy? To go on vacation.

And they wonder why Congress’s approval rating is so low. Democrats are talking about ending capitalism, emptying prisons, and replacing all three branches of our government. And Republicans can’t even summon the will to pass an 80% issue like voter ID.

Securing America’s Future

Republican elites are not tough enough — or conservative enough — to win political fights today.

If we want to save our country, we have to send more principled patriots to Washington. Empty suits with an “R” by their name are not good enough.

Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) just drew a line in the sand in his fight to secure America’s elections.

He took to the Senate floor and called on Republican Leader John Thune (R-SD) to cancel the Senate’s upcoming August recess. He wants the Senate to stay in session to pass national voter ID reform.

Lee has been a bulldog in this fight. He led the effort to force Democrats to conduct a talking filibuster against the SAVE America Act. He fought to keep voter ID in the reconciliation bills the House passed. He has worked tirelessly to find ways to deliver results — no excuses.

President Donald Trump is leading on this issue, too.

Thune’s “Do Nothing” Strategy

Thune is on his heels. He knows 80% of Americans support voter ID. And he knows Senate Republicans have done nothing to deserve a six-week vacation just three months before an election that could cost them their majority.

Thune recently went on TV to defend his inaction. He said Republicans don’t have the votes. But they just got 50 votes on a voter ID budget amendment. Those 50, plus Vice President J.D. Vance, are enough to pass the bill!

Thune also said the talking filibuster has not been used in a century. That’s false. The talking filibuster is how Congress passed the Civil Rights Act. The majority then did not have the votes they needed when they took up the bill. The open-ended debate is what forced the action.

Why won’t John Thune do the same on voter ID? Because most senators care more about their 2.5-day workweek and their summer vacations than about election integrity. They don’t want to fight. They don’t even want to work.

The very fact that the Senate is planning to abandon its posts for six weeks proves that it should stay! The Senate has a month and a half of open floor time. Senate leaders would rather do nothing than fight to secure our elections from foreign influence and Democrat corruption.

It’s outrageous and unacceptable.

No Results, No Recess

Not surprisingly, Mike Lee’s fight is gaining momentum. Senate conservatives are joining his effort. Rick Scott (R-FL), Ashley Moody (R-FL), Eric Schmitt (R-MO), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Roger Marshall (R-KS), and others have come out against the surrender strategy.

Senate conservatives are trying to change that. Voter ID is a fight Republicans can win. But they will never win if they don’t try.

As the chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, Senator Lindsey Graham was set to be the Senate’s point man for President Trump’s $95 billion defense, intelligence, and election security bill this fall.

We’re officially less than four months away from Election Day 2026. The next sixteen weeks will decide whether we send more conservative fighters to Washington to stand with President Trump. Or whether more liberal elites are sent to weaponize Congress to destroy him and the America First agenda.

That’s the choice Americans will face in November. And this fight is going to come down to just a few races. New polls from three key states show just how close this election is right now — and how hard America needs grassroots conservatives to fight.

FLORIDA

Polls from Florida are consistently giving incumbent Senator Ashley Moody the lead in her race to finish the remainder of now-Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s term. Several surveys since April have shown Moody with leads of 3 to 13 points. The most recent has her ahead of the top Democratic challenger, Alexander Vindman, by 7 points — 47% to 40%.

Vindman, you may remember, was a key figure in the attempted Deep State coup known as the “Russia Hoax.” If elected, he is sure to be a cheerleader for yet another partisan impeachment of President Trump.

GEORGIA

The Senate race in Georgia is the other way around. MAGA workhorse Rep. Mike Collins closely trails Democrat incumbent Senator Jon Ossoff. The most recent poll, from late June, gives Ossoff a four-point lead, 47% to 43%, with 10% undecided.

A four-point deficit actually bodes well for Collins. Georgia is now a purple state, and Ossoff began the general election campaign with a huge fundraising edge. Despite a tough primary and runoff, Collins has already gotten himself within striking distance. His top issues — immigration, crime, and election integrity — resonate with Georgia voters.

SCF is committed to helping Collins raise the funds he needs to get his message out. This is going to be a close — and expensive — race all the way. And it’s one of conservatives’ best chances for a pickup in 2026.

TEXAS

Speaking of close and expensive campaigns…

The Texas Senate race between conservative state Attorney General Ken Paxton and woke Democrat weirdo James Talarico continues to be neck and neck.

Of the six June polls of this race, three give Paxton leads of 1 or 2 points; one puts Talarico up 2; and two others have it tied.

Left-wing elites are stuffing Talarico’s campaign with money, salivating at the prospect of turning Texas blue. Senator Ted Cruz has been warning national Republicans not to sleep on this race. Texans who aren’t paying close attention, he says, could be charmed by the corporate media’s biased narrative.

This race is going to come down to getting the truth about Talarico out to Texas voters. Every dollar we can raise for Ken Paxton is another fact he can put on the air about his opponent.

Remembering Senator Lindsey Graham

Just in time for America 250, on July 4th, the nation received a ‘yuge’ birthday present from President Donald Trump and Senator Ted Cruz: TRUMP Accounts.

TRUMP Accounts are new, IRA-style savings accounts for children. Cruz wrote the legislation creating them and included it in last year’s One Big Beautiful Bill. The accounts just went live, and more than 6 million Americans have already signed their kids up!

American babies born between 2025 and 2028 will even get $1,000 in seed money from the Treasury for their accounts. Parents, grandparents, friends, and philanthropists can add to children’s TRUMP Accounts until they are 18, when they convert to traditional IRAs.

That’s what we wrote last week as President Trump prepared to face off against the Senate’s “Give Up Caucus.” They’re the Establishment RINOs — and the plain old lazy bums — standing between America and the passage of federal voter ID reform.

Voter ID is supported by 80% of Americans. Multiple versions of it have already passed the House of Representatives. One version just got 50 votes in the Senate. Senate Republicans have the votes to pass the bill. And they have multiple options for passing it:

• Attaching voter ID to a must-pass spending bill;

• Including it in a filibuster-proof budget bill;

• Forcing Democrats to conduct a “talking filibuster” until THEY give up;

• Nuking the filibuster and passing the SAVE Act on a party-line vote.

None of these options would be easy. None is guaranteed. But all could work. If they’re willing to put in the time, Congress could pass voter ID this summer.

But last week, the “Give Up Caucus” rejected all of these options. Instead, they voted to take a two-week recess!

That’s right. The Senate is now on vacation until July 13. (They are planning another five-week recess in August!) That’s what they are doing rather than fighting to pass voter ID.
