This week opens our journey through the Feather Suit of Balance.

In many ways, it is the beginning of the end, as we arrive at the fourth and final suit of the Lotus Cards for Inner Space. (Which will carry us through November inshallah)

Throughout the scarab suit I added in themes from the classical Hero’s Journey as each sign aligned so beautifully with Heru’s path. (and is the structure I use in my novel: Voyage to Atlantis) While continuing to look back to Year One of The Goddess Phase, and noticing the remarkable synchronicities (in my life and the world outside) from the first time each card was shared in this container.

As we go forth, another spiral begins.

I now intend to share the 13 Tones of Creation each week that collectively form a Wavespell—a cycle describing the movement of creation through thirteen interconnected stages, from intention and emergence to completion and renewal. This happens across sets of 13 days, as well as across 13 moons of the year.

These teachings were introduced to me many years ago by beloved Queen Esther and divinely align with the cards.

The subtitle for Weekly 12 was “both conclusion and preparation.”

That is what this Week 93 represents, too. (and also 9+3=12 / 1+3=3)

Several journeys have come to their natural end, in preparation for what is to come. I closed a chapter with my SW mentees, my children completed their summer camp, and I completed Day 11 of the daimoku—a personal side quest lol.

And here, we have now completed 13 weeks revisiting the Scarab Suit, opening the way for our next 13 weeks with the Feathers.

Conclusion and preparation.

One cycle closing as another begins—in beautiful alignment with next week’s New Moon Solar Eclipse.

The wheel turns again. 𓆸

Tomorrow is Khemennu’s 6th birthday, the lion’s gate portal which last year aligned with the 8888 cycle I was flowing through…

Perhaps.

But perhaps not.

When we walk the wheel year after year, we begin to notice that every season carries within it the seed of its own opposite. Like the ancient symbol of yin and yang, each contains the beginning of what comes next. Within fullness lives emptiness. Within life rests the promise of death. Within every ending, another beginning quietly waits.

Nowhere is this more apparent than at Lammas.

The fields are heavy with grain, orchards bend beneath ripening fruit, and gardens overflow with abundance. Yet if we look closely, autumn has already begun its gentle work. Rust appears on the tips of leaves. Night lingers a little longer after sunset. Morning arrives wrapped in the faintest veil of mist.

The wheel has already begun to turn.

Winter will come.

Lammas, or Lughnasadh, is the first harvest festival—a celebration of abundance, achievement, generosity, and gratitude. It carries the warmth of late summer alongside the quiet melancholy of knowing that nothing remains in bloom forever.

Harvest is not only about gathering what has grown.

It is also about recognizing what must be surrendered.

The theme of sacrifice that emerged at the Spring Equinox returns now with deeper understanding. Something must always be released so that something else may continue.

The ancients knew this well.

Every stalk of grain must be cut before it can become bread. Every seed must disappear into darkness before new life can emerge. Plants do not resist this mystery; they trust that what appears to end is only another beginning.

Life becomes death.

Death becomes life.

This is the mystery of creation.

The Nile Valley Rhythm

While much of Europe honored the grain harvest, in Kemet this same moment belonged to Akhet, the season of Inundation.

Rather than gathering crops, the people watched the Nile overflow its banks. The waters erased familiar boundaries, depositing rich black silt that would nourish the land for the coming year. It was a season not of collecting, but of preparation.

It was also the sacred beginning of the year.

The heliacal rising of Sirius announced Hru Renpet, the Opening of the Year, while the great goddess Nut gave birth to Ausar, Set, Auset, Nebt-Het, and Heru upon the five epagomenal days.

One culture celebrated the harvest.

Another celebrated the flood.

Both remind us that abundance is cyclical. Sometimes abundance looks like full hands.

Sometimes it looks like fertile waters washing everything clean.

Marking your personal ‘Harvest’

This season invites us to mark our own harvest.

Take a moment to write every achievement you can remember from the past year.

The obvious ones.

The quiet ones.

The unseen ones.

Perhaps you completed a difficult project. Perhaps you nurtured a friendship. Perhaps you simply continued showing up on days when it would have been easier not to.

If this year has brought grief and you are still here—

that, too, belongs on the list.

Wrap these words with a red ribbon and place them somewhere safe.

This is your harvest.

Then make another list.

Write down everything that has reached its natural ending.

Habits.

Beliefs.

Fears.

Expectations.

Relationships.

Versions of yourself that no longer fit.

Cut the paper into pieces and offer it to the fire.

Every harvest leaves a field behind.

The Many Petalled Lotus

In Senegal, Lammas coincided with the Grand Magal of Touba, the annual pilgrimage honoring Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba, which took place on August 2, traditionally the 18th of Safar.

As I was preparing this post, I found myself returning to my copy of Wheel of the Year by Teresa Moorey and Jane Brideson—a book I picked up last year in a little bookshop in Thailand.

They associate this season with the Crown Chakra, the many-petalled lotus.

That single thread sent me wandering back through my own writing. I began browsing my posts about the Crown Chakra, which lives on the 8 of Ankhs, and discovered that I had shared it at this very same point last year, when I wrote about my own experience at the Magal.

The wheel had quietly brought me back to the same lesson.

The Crown Chakra is associated with transcendence, wisdom, mystical consciousness, and the realization that we are never truly separate from one another.

Standing among millions gathered in devotion, I remember feeling exactly that—not abundance measured in possessions, but abundance measured in faith, remembrance, community, and surrender.

Perhaps that is the deepest harvest of all.

Not what we own.

Not even what we accomplish.

But who we have become.

Many of us live with an abundance our ancestors could scarcely imagine.

We have access to books, teachers, art, medicine, friendships across continents, opportunities to travel, to study, to create entirely new lives.

This abundance is easy to overlook because it surrounds us.

At the same time, Lammas reminds us that abundance is not distributed equally.

As we count our blessings, we are also called to widen the circle.

Pray for those who hunger.

Support those who have less.

Practice generosity without guilt and gratitude without complacency.

There is enough room to celebrate what we have while continuing to work toward a world where everyone has enough.

After Death clears the path, Temperance descends with grace — restoring harmony to what has been transformed. In this space of quiet equilibrium, we begin to understand why the clearing was necessary.

This is the art of adaptation and coordination — the merging of opposites into a single current of wisdom. Balance, moderation, and rhythm are her laws.

The descent reaches its deepest point.

Here the initiate faces the ultimate confrontation:

For Heru, this is the confrontation with Set —
the battle for the throne,
the fragmentation of the self,
the testing of divine legitimacy.

Everything false must die.

The initiate must face everything hidden beneath beauty and harmony:

Heru encounters the great tension between balance and conflict here —
the realization that harmony is not passive.
It must be earned.

This is the death-and-rebirth threshold.
The old self begins collapsing.

Alchemy begins.

The fields are green. The roses are open. The bees are busy with their sacred work. Life spills over its edges in every direction.

Litha, the Summer Solstice, marks the longest day and shortest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. It is a celebration of abundance, vitality, beauty, and illumination—a moment when the solar force reaches its peak expression.

Yet hidden within the brightness is an ancient mystery:

The wheel has already begun to turn.

The Sun King stands crowned in gold, but from this day forward the light will slowly begin its return toward darkness. The seeds planted at Imbolc, tended at Ostara, and blessed at Beltane have become visible. What has grown can now be witnessed.

Litha invites us to pause.

To notice what is flourishing.

To acknowledge what has come into bloom.

To offer gratitude before the harvest season begins.

The Goddess at Midsummer

…and she dances and spins toward summer, to the beat of her passion’s drum…

This holy day honors the mysteries and passions of Aphrodite, Goddess of Love. The goddess has been born and grown to womanhood, and now encounters her Divine Lover. She undergoes the death and rebirth of self that occurs when merging with another. She is impregnated or made fertile with future creations, be they flesh or spirit, human or divine, political, practical, artistic or social.

This fertilization can be seen as self-made, community-made, or mutually created by the Lovers. Her love can be a woman, a man, herself, her work, or the Goddess.

Loving couples or groups may wish to have special blessings today. This is a time of ecstasy and surrender.

Even as the sexual tides of our bodies rise and fall, so do the larger life tides of magnetic energy caused by the interplay of darkness and light. Aligning ourselves with energy waves—sexual, lunar, earthly, solar, magnetic, and so on— this is what ritual is all about.

Things to Consider

• What has come into bloom since the Winter Solstice?

• What am I proud of cultivating this year?

• What blessings have I overlooked?

• Where am I being asked to receive rather than strive?

• What in my life feels ready for renewal?

• What would happen if I trusted the flood?

The Coming Waters

In the ancient Nile Valley, this solar threshold carried another significance.

As the Sun reached its height, attention turned toward the horizon and the rising of Sirius, Sopdet, whose appearance announced the coming inundation.

Soon the waters would arrive.

The Nile would overflow its banks.

Fields would disappear beneath fertile floodwaters.

Paths would vanish.

Boundaries would soften.

What seemed stable would surrender to the wisdom of the river.

This marked the beginning of Akhet, the Season of Inundation—the first season of the Kemetic year.

At first glance, inundation appears destructive.

Yet the flood was life itself.

Without it there would be no harvest.

No grain.

No civilization.

The waters arrived not to destroy the land, but to renew it.

As we approach Akhet, we are reminded that life does not move in straight lines.

After growth comes surrender.

After abundance comes release.

After certainty comes mystery.

The flood asks:

What am I being asked to let go of control over?

What wants to be softened?

What wants to be renewed?

At Yule, we honored the spark.

At Imbolc, the stirring.

At Ostara, the first green shoots.

At Beltane, the fire of becoming.

At Litha, we arrive at fullness.

This is the season of standing beneath the Sun and witnessing what has come into bloom.

Not what may bloom.

Not what should bloom.

What already has.

Litha asks us to pause long enough to see our own growth.

The medicine of this season is gratitude.

Key 0 (and 22): The Fool (before and after)

This week feels particularly aligned again; and a time for gratitude and remembrance. The timing of starting the Scarab suit (we have gone through the entire deck, week by week, and cycled back for year two through both the lotus and ankh suits) and receiving the print issue of Inanna just this morning… the last time I posted about the Ace of Scarabs I included both a picture of Inanna and Sekhmet.

Eye wonder what year three will look like. tua ntr.

[[ Key 0 is the life force before entering manifestation, and 22 is that same fool, having walked the 21 keys of the major arcana to complete that full cycle and step once more beyond the present incarnation.

22 is an ancient numerical symbol for a circle and therefore represents the alpha and omega.

Every genius is called a fool at some time. the fool is the super conscious, pictured as having room to take one more step. this indicates we never come to the limit of our potentials. ]]
