Michael King gets the start for the Padres. He’s coming off a seven-strikeout performance, and he’ll be facing Brady Singer for Cincinnati. Singer is coming off a five-strikeout game of his own.

Both pitchers are capable of having good outings, but I really like what San Diego brings to the plate in this matchup.

The Padres’ bats have been hot, and this is the type of matchup where I think they can take advantage. They have a lineup that can put pressure on a pitcher from the first inning all the way to the last.

That’s what makes San Diego dangerous. If one part of the lineup isn’t getting it done, they have enough hitters behind them to make adjustments and find a way to score.

And honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a few balls leave the yard in this one.

The Reds are at home, but I still think San Diego is the better team overall. The Padres have more offensive firepower, and I trust their lineup to make the adjustments they need to as the game goes on.

I could definitely see the Padres winning this game by more than one run, but I’m not going to overthink it.

If the moneyline is sitting this low, give me the Padres to win.

Sometimes the best play is simply taking the better team and letting them do the work.

My Pick: San Diego Padres Moneyline

This is my favorite tennis prediction on the board.

I like Shelton to control this match. His serve and overall game can put a lot of pressure on Griekspoor, and I’m expecting Shelton to have the advantage for most of the match.

The biggest thing for me is the total.

38.5 games is a pretty high number.

We don’t necessarily need Shelton to blow him out. We just need to avoid a long, back-and-forth match with multiple sets going deep.

Something like 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 gets us there easily.

Even 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 stays under.

Obviously, Griekspoor isn’t just going to walk onto the court and hand Shelton the match. 😂 But I don’t expect this to turn into a five-set war either.

If Shelton serves well and takes care of business on the important points, I think this total has a good chance to stay below the number.

Maybe it’s the fact that I think the Rebels are finally getting close to becoming the team a lot of people expected them to be. Maybe it’s the combination of Dan Mullen entering Year 2, a revamped offense, and a home-field advantage that should be pretty interesting when the lights come on Saturday night.

Either way, I think UNLV is the much better football team in this matchup, and I believe this is the year they finally trend upward.

A New Season, A Different UNLV

UNLV went 10-4 last season and came up just short of the Mountain West Championship. That’s a pretty good starting point.

Now they get another year in Mullen’s system, and there are some legitimate reasons to believe this program can take another step.

Jackson Arnold gives UNLV a completely different dimension at quarterback, and the Rebels have talent around him. This isn’t a team that needs everything to magically go right just to compete.

I think they have the better overall roster.

And playing this one in Las Vegas matters.

Memphis Has A Lot Of New Pieces

This is where I start to have some questions about Memphis.

Charles Huff takes over as the new head coach, and Memphis has completely reshaped its roster. The Tigers brought in a massive number of transfers, including a large group of players who followed Huff from Southern Miss. (FOX Sports)

That’s not necessarily a bad thing.

But there’s a difference between having talented players and having a team that has actually played together.

Football is still football. At some point, 11 guys have to know where the other 10 are going to be.

And Memphis has a lot of new faces trying to figure that out.

They’ve got talent. I’m not saying they don’t.

I’m saying I trust the more established situation at UNLV a little more in this particular spot.

Then There’s The Late-Night Factor

This isn’t a noon kickoff where everybody is still waking up and wondering where their coffee went.

This one kicks off at 10 p.m. ET, under the lights at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. (FOX Sports)

That’s a pretty unique environment for an opening game.

Memphis is traveling across the country, starting a new era under Huff, bringing a heavily revamped roster into a late-night road environment.

Meanwhile, UNLV gets to walk into its own building and start the season in front of its home crowd.

I’ll take that situation.

My Prediction

I don’t think this needs to be complicated.

I think UNLV is the better team.

I think the Rebels have the more favorable situation.

I think playing at home in Las Vegas helps.

And most importantly, I think UNLV is a program that’s ready to take another step forward.

Memphis could absolutely surprise people this season. Huff is a good coach, and the Tigers have brought in plenty of talent. But tonight isn’t about what these teams might become in November.

It’s about what they are right now.

And right now, I’m much more comfortable investing in UNLV.

I already dropped a player prop for subscribers, but there are two preseason games that really caught my attention that I wanted to talk about.

Patriots vs. Browns

This is an interesting one because the Browns still have a lot to figure out.

They have most of their starters intact, but there are still plenty of position battles happening throughout the roster. That means a lot of these guys are going to be playing hard because they’re not just trying to win a preseason game — they’re trying to earn a job.

That can be a good thing, but I also think it can create some frustration.

You have players competing against each other, trying to prove they deserve a roster spot, and sometimes that can lead to mistakes or guys trying to do a little too much.

The Patriots are in a different situation.

They seem much more comfortable with where their roster stands. They have a better idea of who their starters are, who their backups are and what they want this team to look like heading into the regular season.

For me, this is where I have to take the more well-rounded team.

I’m not saying the Browns don’t have good chemistry. I’m not saying they’re going to come out and play poorly. But when you have this many position battles going on, I think it can make things a little more unpredictable.

Give me the Patriots to win.

Chargers vs. Rams

This is another one I really like.

The Chargers are probably one of the teams I’m most excited to watch once the regular season gets here. There has been a lot of talk about Justin Herbert being a potential MVP candidate, and for good reason.

Herbert has been one of the most talented quarterbacks in football for a long time. The problem has never really been whether he can play. It has been keeping him on the field consistently.

When he’s healthy, though, you see exactly what makes him special.

Big frame. Strong arm. Smart quarterback. Extremely high football IQ.

And I really like the foundation the Chargers have built around him.

They have good coaching, a talented roster and, more importantly for a preseason game, I really like the depth. When your backups can step onto the field and keep the team functioning at a high level, that gives you a huge advantage in these games.

This is also the Chargers’ final preseason game before the regular season.

I don’t expect Justin Herbert to be out there, and honestly, I wouldn’t want him out there. There’s no reason to risk your franchise quarterback this close to the games that actually count.

But that’s exactly why I like the Chargers here.

Their backups have something to prove too. They want to show the starters that they’re ready. They want to make the coaching staff trust them. And I think that competitive mentality is going to show.

I don’t think the Rams have much for them in this one.

Give me the Chargers to win.

A Little More About How I Invest

One thing I’m going to start doing more of with these articles is educating people on how I actually approach these games.

My favorite style of investing is live investing.

I like studying a matchup days before it happens. I look at the teams, the situations, the coaching decisions and everything I can find. Then, when the game gets closer, I watch where the lines move.

As a sports writer, I also pay a lot of attention to press conferences and what coaches are saying. Sometimes you can learn a lot just by listening to how a coach talks about a certain player, a position battle or what they want to accomplish in a preseason game.

So going forward, you’re going to see a little more of that education mixed into my articles. I want people to understand that there’s a lot more that goes into this than simply looking at a record and picking a team.

They just dominated the Connecticut Sun yesterday, and before that they handled the Minnesota Lynx. They also beat the New York Liberty the last time these two teams played.

So I understand why the market is giving Golden State plenty of respect here.

But I think this is where things get interesting.

The Valkyries are playing good basketball. No question about it. They’ve got a competitive group, they play hard, and they’ve earned the attention they’re getting. But I think the line may be reacting a little too heavily to what they’ve done over the last couple of games.

The 2026 college football season officially gets underway tonight, and while most of the country is waiting for the big FBS matchups this weekend, the FCS gets the first crack at it tonight.

And honestly?

I love it.

Not because every game tonight is going to be a national championship preview. It isn’t.

I love it because this is where the work starts.

FCS stands for Football Championship Subdivision, and while it doesn’t get the same national attention as the FBS, these are still Division I football programs with real players, real coaches and real games that count.

Tonight gives us a chance to start watching.

Not just watching the scoreboard.

Watching the players.

Watching how quarterbacks look in their first meaningful snaps of the year. Watching offensive lines. Watching tempo. Watching how coaches adjust. Watching which teams look prepared and which teams clearly aren’t there yet.

That’s especially important early in the season.

You can spend all offseason looking at numbers, transfers, returning production and preseason expectations.

But eventually, the teams have to actually play.

And tonight, we finally get some answers.

I’ll be watching as a college football fan first, but I’ll also have my notebook open.

There are a few players and situations I’m already keeping an eye on, and I expect to have some live opportunities as the games develop.

Sometimes the best opportunity isn’t the one you identified six hours before kickoff.

Last night was a rough one for Philadelphia.

The Phillies came into Seattle riding a nine-game winning streak, only to get knocked around 9-2 in the series opener. Cal Raleigh did most of the damage for the Mariners, and Philadelphia’s offense never really got going. (Reuters⁠)

But that’s baseball. One bad night doesn’t change my opinion of this Phillies lineup.

Tonight, I’m looking at Phillies team total over 3.5 runs.

The number is what stands out to me here. We’re not asking Philadelphia to put up seven or eight runs. We need four.

George Kirby gets the start for Seattle, and he’s certainly capable of pitching well. He’s sitting at a 4.18 ERA this season, so this isn’t a matchup where I’m expecting Philadelphia to walk in and score every inning. (MLB.com⁠)

At the same time, I think this Phillies lineup is capable of making him work.

Philadelphia has plenty of guys in the middle of the order who can change a game with one swing, and after being held to just two runs last night, I expect a better offensive performance tonight.

This isn’t me trying to predict some ridiculous 10-run explosion. I just think four runs is a very reasonable number for this offense.

Get a couple runners on, get the big bats to cash in, and we’re right there.

And if the Phillies happen to find five or six along the way, I’m certainly not going to complain.

The Investment: Phillies Over 3.5 Team Runs

I don’t need Philadelphia to dominate tonight. I just need the offense to look a little more like the team we’ve seen throughout this winning stretch.

Four runs.

That’s the number.

Let’s see what the Phillies can do.

San Francisco comes into this one with some momentum after shutting out Cincinnati 5-0 on Monday. More importantly, I like what I’m seeing from the Giants’ bats right now. They’ve been putting together better at-bats and making enough consistent contact to give them an advantage against a Reds pitching staff that has struggled at times this season.

Cincinnati will send Brady Singer to the mound, while San Francisco counters with Adrian Houser. Singer enters with a 4.72 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP, which gives the Giants an opportunity to put pressure on him early. Houser has been the steadier of the two starters, posting a 4.08 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP.

I don’t expect this to be a high-scoring game. With the way Oracle Park can play, I’m more interested in which team can capitalize on its opportunities. For me, that’s San Francisco. The Giants have the better offensive form coming into this matchup, and I think their bats match up well with what Cincinnati is bringing to the mound.

Prediction: San Francisco Giants Moneyline

But sometimes those are the matchups worth paying the most attention to.

When I first saw this game on the schedule, the first thing that immediately came to mind was goals. It reminded me a lot of yesterday’s Chelsea matchup, where I said from the beginning that I expected the game to produce offense. We took the over 1.5 goals investment, and once again, the read came through.

Both sides found the scoresheet, the total cleared, and we added another win to what has been an incredible run.

Our soccer record has now pushed over 88% on the year, which is honestly insane to look at. In nine years of sports investing, I don’t think I’ve ever been this confident across so many different categories. I’m incredibly thankful for that.

And above everything else, glory be to God. I truly believe He gave me this passion for sports and put this path in front of me for a reason. My job is to continue working, continue learning, continue executing, and continue improving every single day.

Now, back to Tuesday.

Valencia and Real Betis both have the type of attacking ability that can make this a very entertaining matchup. There’s speed on both sides, and I expect both teams to look more comfortable going forward than sitting back and trying to play a defensive game.

That has me expecting an open match.

I could easily see this turning into a 3- or 4-goal game if the chances start falling early. The biggest thing I’m looking for is simply for both offenses to make their presence felt.

I could see this being one of those games where Atlanta takes an early lead, the Sparks battle their way back, the Dream create separation again, and Los Angeles continues to hang around. Even if Atlanta ultimately wins comfortably, I don’t necessarily see this being a game where the Sparks simply disappear for four quarters.

That’s why I’m looking beyond the spread for the investment that stands out most to me.

Chelsea has the offensive quality and pace to create plenty of chances, and I believe they have enough firepower to score at least two goals in this matchup. At the same time, I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Fulham find the back of the net. They have enough attacking ability to take advantage of opportunities, especially if Chelsea leaves space going forward.

Neither of these teams is built around simply sitting back and defending for 90 minutes. Their styles are much more focused on attacking, creating chances, and playing with pace. When you put those two styles together, I expect there to be plenty of opportunities on both sides.

Final thought: I’m expecting an aggressive, entertaining game with chances at both ends. Chelsea has the edge in attacking quality, and I’m looking for them to find the net at least twice.

Rolly Romero is incredibly gifted. He started boxing later than Teofimo, but he’s developed a super weird, awkward style that can be difficult to figure out. And the biggest thing with Rolly is simple — the man has crazy power.

Then you have Teofimo Lopez, who has been boxing since he was 5 or 6 years old. He’s been in there with some of the best, including Lomachenko, Shakur Stevenson and Josh Taylor.

The biggest thing that stands out to me in this matchup is how slept on Teofimo is.

Real boxing people know about “Gordo” Teofimo. When he gets into that slick, relaxed mode where he’s moving, countering and having fun, he’s extremely difficult to deal with.

We didn’t really see that version of Teofimo against Shakur, but Shakur’s defense is obviously on another level. Rolly doesn’t have that same type of defense, and I think that’s going to give Teofimo a lot more opportunities.

We’ve seen fighters come back from facing Shakur with more tools in their arsenal. I think we see the same thing from Teofimo here.

Rolly is going to bring the fireworks, especially early, and you can’t overlook his power. But I think Teofimo is coming into this fight with something to prove.

At the end of the night, I believe Teofimo gets his hand raised.

Prediction

Teofimo Lopez to win
