Use STAR method and numbers. No stories, just results.

This is the hiring manager checking if you can actually do the job. They do not want opinions, they want evidence.

How to answer it:

Use the STAR method, but make it results heavy.

Situation: One line of context. What was happening?

Task: What was your specific responsibility?

Action: What did YOU do? Use active verbs.

Result: What changed? Add numbers. Time saved, revenue added, error rate cut.

Bad: I led a project to improve onboarding.

Good: I led a 3 person project to rebuild onboarding. For difficult stakeholders I do 3 things: Listen to understand the real concern, Align on the shared goal, Propose options with tradeoffs.

Give a quick example. Hiring is not logical, it is emotional first, logical second.

I have sat on hundreds of hiring calls. The decision is often made in the first 10 minutes. The rest is just confirmation bias doing its job.

We call it likability bias. If I like you, I will find reasons to justify hiring you. If I do not, I will find reasons to reject you, even if your resume is perfect.

1 It breaks the interrogation pattern. Most interviews feel like Q and A. You turn it into a conversation.

2 It signals confidence. Only secure candidates pause to acknowledge a good question. Insecure candidates rush to answer.

3 It makes the interviewer feel smart. And people remember how you made them feel, long after they forget what you said.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗧𝗼 𝗦𝗮𝘆 𝗜𝘁: 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

Do not say it for every question. That feels fake and desperate. Use it strategically. Here are the 3 exact moments where it lands best:

MOMENT 01 • WHEN THE QUESTION IS TRICKY

This is when they test how you think. Example: “Why should we not hire you?” or “Tell me about a time you failed.” This is your moment to buy time and show respect for the difficulty.

MOMENT 02 • WHEN THE QUESTION IS DEEP

This is when they go beyond your resume. Example: “What kind of work makes you lose track of time?” They are trying to know the real you. Acknowledge the depth before you answer.

MOMENT 03 • WHEN THEY READ YOUR CV

This is gold. Example: “I saw you led that migration project, what was the hardest part?” They did their homework. Appreciate it. It is rare, and it shows you noticed their effort too.

𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗣𝗵𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 (𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗙𝗮𝗸𝗲)

The difference between cringe and charismatic is specificity. Do not just say “great question” and stop. Add a why. Here are phrases I give my candidates that actually work in real rooms:

“That’s a great question, I actually thought about this on my way here...”

“I appreciate you asking this, most people don’t go that deep...”

“Love that you brought this up, because this is exactly what I have been reflecting on...”

“That’s an insightful way to put it, let me think about the best example...”

“I am glad you asked that, because it gives me a chance to clarify...”

“That is such a relevant question for this role...”

RECRUITER TIP • HOW TO NOT SOUND FAKE

Say it slow, not fast. Make eye contact. And always follow with a real answer. The appreciation is the bridge, not the answer itself. If you say “great question” with a flat tone and a generic answer, you will sound scripted. If you say it with genuine curiosity and then share a specific story, you will sound memorable.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗧𝗼 𝗗𝗼

✕ Do not say it for every question. If you appreciate all 12 questions, you appreciate none. Keep it grounded and professional.

✕ Do not sound scripted. Learn the intention, not the script. Your tone should say, I am listening, not, I rehearsed this.

✕ Never use it to dodge. Appreciate, then answer directly. Will You Relocate?

Why they ask: They want to check if you are serious, informed, and will stay.

WHY EUROPE SCRIPT:

Acknowledge: Europe is a planned move for me, not a random application.

Pivot: The product ecosystem in Berlin for [Your Domain, e.g. B2B SaaS] is much more mature, and roles like this offer deeper ownership.

Value: I am ready to relocate, I have started basic German A1, and I am looking for a long term base, not a short stint.

WHY THIS COMPANY SCRIPT:

Acknowledge: I have been following [Company Name] since [Specific launch or news].

Pivot: What interests me is [2 specific things, e.g. your focus on profitability over growth, and your platform shift].

Value: My experience in [Your Skill] maps directly to that, and I would love to contribute to [Specific Team / Metric].

RELOCATION + LANGUAGE LINE (Add at the end):

I am available to relocate within 4 to 6 weeks post offer, and I am already learning German. I have no location constraints within EU.

6. BONUS: 3 Golden Rules (Save Your Offer)

Rule 1: Never fake your salary slip. Background checks are real. One fake document ends your career in that company and its network. Use the Pivot script instead.

Rule 2: Never badmouth your current manager or company. Even if the culture was toxic. Say: My current company gave me good learning, I am now looking for more ownership and growth which this role offers.

Rule 3: Never give a number first if you can avoid it. Ask: Could you help me understand the budgeted range for this role? If they push, give a range, not a single number. Example: Based on market and scope, I am looking at 18 to 20 LPA.

How to use this template:

1. Replace all [brackets] with your numbers.

2. Keep each answer under 45 seconds.

3. Practice out loud 3 times.

You got this. HR questions are not a test of memory. They are a test of calm.

This is why 90% candidates get rejected in “Tell me about yourself”

They all use the same script. Your resume itself gets only 6 seconds before a fit or no fit decision.

❌ FRESHER SCRIPT THAT FAILS:

“Thank you for giving me this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Rahul Kumar, I am from Delhi, I completed B.Tech in 2023, my hobbies are cricket, reading, music, I am hardworking and dedicated person. That’s all about me sir, thank you.”

Why it fails:

- No role, no skill, no result, but recruiters in first 6 seconds look for current title, company and skills only

- Hobbies don’t matter for hiring, 45 percent of managers say personal details like hobbies are a turnoff when not tied to role

- “Hardworking and dedicated”, everyone says it, no proof

❌ EXPERIENCED SCRIPT THAT FAILS (5 yrs):

“Thank you for this opportunity. Myself Rahul, I have 5 years experience, working at XYZ as senior executive, I am hardworking and looking for better opportunity.”

Why it fails:

- 5 years doing what? What did you actually achieve? Data shows pitches with numbers get 40 percent more attention, this has none

- “Looking for better opportunity”, tells me you want to leave, not why you want THIS. Research shows 70 percent get rejected when answer is not tailored to role

Why recruiters ask this question:

They are not asking for your life story. They are checking 3 things in 60 seconds:

1. Can you explain yourself clearly? In 60 to 90 seconds

2. Do you have proof, not just claims? With numbers

3. Do you want THIS role or ANY role? 80 percent job specific

✅ THE FORMULA THAT WORKS: Present + Proof + Future

Career coaches at Google use this exact formula. Successful answers that get hired average 150 words, 80 percent job specific, 60 to 90 seconds max.

This is 3 sentences, 45 to 60 seconds. That’s it.

For FRESHER:

“I’m a B.Tech grad, interned at ABC where I built a tool that cut reporting time by 40 percent. I love turning complex data into simple insights, and I applied for your Analyst role because it’s exactly where I want to grow.”

Breakdown:

Present = Who you are now, B.Tech grad, what recruiters scan in first 6 seconds

Proof = What you actually did with number, built tool, cut time 40 percent, numbers get 40 percent more views

Future = Why THIS role, Analyst role is where I want to grow, shows you want THIS, not ANY

For EXPERIENCED (5 years):

“I’m a Marketing Executive with 5 years at XYZ, last year I led a campaign that grew leads by 60 percent. I specialize in performance marketing and I want to bring that growth to your Europe team.”

Breakdown:

Present = Role + years + company

Proof = Campaign + 60 percent leads

Future = Specialty + what you bring to THEIR team

For EUROPE JOBS - Add This Line:

In Europe, brevity wins. Recruiters filter for language plus location first.

“I’m a Marketing Executive with 5 years at XYZ in Dubai, last year I led a campaign that grew leads by 60 percent. I specialize in performance marketing, based in Berlin, EN C1, DE B2, and I want to bring that growth to your DACH team.”

Adding location plus language in Present makes you searchable and clears basic filters faster.

3 MORE EXAMPLES - DIFFERENT LEVELS:

For 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE (IT):

“I’m a Software Engineer with 2 years at TCS working on backend APIs. Last quarter I optimized a payment API that reduced response time by 35 percent. I’m focused on scalable backend systems and applied for your Backend role because you work with high traffic systems.”

For 5+ YEARS (NON-IT):

“I’m a Customer Success Manager with 5 years in B2B SaaS, at my last company I reduced churn by 22 percent in 6 months by rebuilding onboarding. I specialize in onboarding and churn, and I want to bring that retention playbook to your Berlin team.”

For CAREER GAP:

“I’m a Data Analyst with 3 years experience, took a break in 2023 to 2024 for relocation to Germany. During that time I completed Google Data Analytics and built 2 dashboards that tracked churn. I’m now focused on analyst roles in DACH where I can turn data into retention insights.”

What to NEVER say:

- Don’t start with “Thank you for giving me this opportunity”, start with who you are

- Don’t list hobbies unless relevant to role, data shows it’s a turnoff

- Don’t say “hardworking, dedicated, passionate” without proof, needs number

- Don’t recite full resume, research says that is top reason for rejection

- Don’t go over 90 seconds, successful answers stay under 2 minutes

The 45 to 60 Second Rule:

No, 45 seconds is not short, it’s actually the sweet spot.

Here’s why:

Research says 60 to 90 seconds max. But recruiters decide in first 20 seconds if you are clear. The first 45 seconds is where they listen fully.

After 45 seconds, their attention drops. That is why most coaches say:

- Hook in first 20 seconds: Who you are + what you do

- Proof in next 25 seconds: One number

- Total 45 to 60 seconds: Stop

If you go 90 seconds, you are still safe. If you go over 2 minutes, you lose them.

The math:

- Your script: ~150 words

- Average speaking speed: 130 to 150 words per minute

- 150 words = 60 seconds

So your 3 sentences:

Present = 10 seconds

Proof = 20 seconds with number

Future = 15 seconds why this role

Total = 45 seconds.

It feels short when you write it, but when you speak it, it feels complete. Most candidates fail because they make it 2 to 3 minutes long.

Write your version, record it, time it. 3 sentences. Present + Proof + Future.

#interviewtips #interviewpreparation #careeradvice #jobsearchtips #tellmeaboutyourself #europejobs #jobsearch #interviewquestions

How Recruiters Hiring For Europe Actually See Your Profile

Green Flag vs Red Flag

Shumaila Shaikh

It’s not about being the most qualified. Say no, you look desperate. Here is the exact script recruiters respect.

Every candidate freezes on this one.

HR asks: “Are you interviewing with other companies?”

It feels like a trap. And it is - if you answer it wrong.

Why They Actually Ask This

They are not making small talk. They are checking two things: Do we need to speed up? And how much leverage do you actually have?

Speed: If you have 2 final rounds next week, they need to move your file to hiring manager TODAY

Leverage: If you have no other options, they can lowball salary. If you have 3 offers, they need to compete

Interest level: Are you serious about this market, or just casually browsing?

The 2 Answers That Kill Your Offer

❌ “Yes.”
Too vague. It tells them nothing - not how serious those conversations are, not whether you’re close to an offer. You’re just confirming it and creating space for more probing questions like “Which companies? What stage?” Now you are defending yourself.

❌ “No, you’re the only one.”
You look like you have no options. If nobody else wants you, why should they? Recruiters think: “If this candidate is good, why is no one else interviewing them?” Desperation kills negotiation power.

The Ideal Answer - Word For Word

✅ THE SCRIPT:

“Thank you for bringing this up. Yes, I’m currently at different stages with multiple companies. However, I’d like to move forward with your organisation for all the reasons we discussed today. So if you could expedite the process, I would really appreciate it.”

Why This Works - Line By Line Breakdown

“Thank you for bringing this up.”
That “thank you” isn’t just polite - it signals confidence. It subtly frames you as someone already in process, actively choosing them rather than begging. You weren’t avoiding this question, you were looking for it.

“Yes, I’m currently at different stages with multiple companies.”
🔹 Shows you’re in demand without lying or naming companies. “Different stages” is key - it means some are early, some are close to offer. You don’t need to say which. Never name companies.

“However, I’d like to move forward with your organisation for all the reasons we discussed today.”
🔹 Creates urgency + flattery. Tells them: “I have options, but I want YOU.” This is the most important line. You are not distracted, you are selective. And you remember what they said today - shows you listened.

“So if you could expedite the process, I would really appreciate it.”
🔹 You are giving them permission to move fast and a reason to fight for you internally. Recruiters need this line to tell hiring manager: “We need to move fast, candidate has other processes.”

3 Variations Based On Your Real Situation

IF YOU HAVE OFFERS

“Thank you for asking. Yes, I’m in final stages with two other companies and expecting offers next week. But this role is my top preference because of [specific reason from interview]. If we can align on next steps this week, I would love to prioritize you.”

IF YOU ARE EARLY STAGE ELSEWHERE

“Yes, I’ve started conversations with a couple of other companies in the last week. They are remote within the US only. You apply, get excited, then see US work authorization or US time zone required in the fine print.

In 2026, fewer than 5 percent of remote roles are truly Work From Anywhere, but some companies consistently hire globally. I went through FlexJobs data (60,000+ companies analyzed Feb-Aug 2026) and verified the ones that actually hire across the globe.

Official FlexJobs 2026 WFA Report:
- Fewer than 5% of all remote postings are work-from-anywhere jobs
- 58% of workers say they want to be fully remote
- Top industries for true WFA: Software Development, Project Management, Computer & IT, Technical Support, Education & Training
- Top companies with most WFA jobs: Wikimedia Foundation, Xapo Bank, Supabase, Invisible Technologies
Source: flexjobs.com - Top 10 Companies Hiring for WFA Jobs 2026

Critical Things No One Tells You Before You Apply

There are 3 types of Work From Anywhere - and your salary, taxes, and security depend on which one they use.

1. The 3 Types:

Direct Global Hire: Full-time employee anywhere. Best benefits + stock. Example: GitLab hires in 65+ countries, Automattic has no offices at all since 2017. They say “Work with us, from anywhere.”

EOR Model: They use Deel (35,000+ companies) / Remote.com / Oyster to hire you legally in your country. Example: Supabase uses Remote.com. Same salary, benefits vary by your country.

Contractor Model: You are contractor, you handle taxes. Higher pay, less security. Example: Xapo Bank, many Web3 companies like Chainlink Labs.

2. Time zone is still a filter:

Even true WFA companies have overlap rules. Wikimedia needs 4 hours overlap with UTC. Supabase needs overlap with EST. If you are in Pakistan / India (PKT UTC+5), that means 6pm to 2am work. FlexJobs explicitly warns: fully remote doesn’t always mean location-independent - check tax, licensing, client, and time zone restrictions.

3. The Global Payroll Truth:

SF rates no matter where: GitLab, Automattic

Location-based but transparent: Buffer publishes salary calculator publicly

Ask in first interview: “Do you have location-based bands or role-based global bands? Who handles tax compliance in my country?”

4. How to spot fake remote:

If career page says “Remote - US”, “Remote - North America” or “Must be authorized to work in US” skip. The Visa That Works: Highly Skilled Migrant (HSM)

The Netherlands has a fast-track work visa called Kennismigrant / Highly Skilled Migrant.

This is the key point most people miss: You cannot apply for it yourself. Only your employer can apply for you.

The employer must be an IND Recognised Sponsor. IND is the Dutch Immigration Service. Only companies on their official list can sponsor you. There are 12,000+ such companies.

Official IND Public Register - check any company here:
https://ind.nl/en/public-register-recognised-sponsors/public-register-regular-labour-and-highly-skilled-migrants

If a company is not on this list, they cannot give you a visa, no matter how good your CV is. Always check before you apply.

2. How Much Salary Do You Need in 2026?

Even with a job offer, IND will reject your visa if your salary is below the limit.

2026 thresholds (gross per month, excluding 8% holiday allowance):
Age 30 and above: €5,942
Under 30: €4,357
Recent graduate from a Dutch university: €3,122

Your employment contract must show at least this amount. Filter jobs that can pay this.

3. The 30% Ruling: 30% Of Your Salary Tax-Free

This is a benefit most EU countries do not offer.

Your employer can pay 30% of your salary tax-free for 5 years as compensation for relocation costs. This is called the 30% ruling.

2026 is the last year for the full 30%. From 1 January 2027, it drops to 27% for everyone who started after 2024.

It is NOT automatic:

Your employer must apply for it at the Dutch Tax Office within 4 months of your start date

You must have been recruited from abroad (lived 150km+ away from Dutch border for 16 of last 24 months)

You must meet the salary criteria

Always ask in your interview: “Will you file the 30% ruling for me?” Get it in your offer letter.

4. Where To Find Real English-Speaking Jobs With Sponsorship?

Undutchables.nl - A recruitment agency that ONLY lists English-speaking roles from international companies that work with recognised sponsors.

How to use it properly:

Search your field on Undutchables

Copy the company name

Verify it in the official IND register link above

Apply with a Dutch-style CV

By Dutch law, a recruitment agency can NEVER charge you, the job seeker. They charge the employer. If anyone asks you for money to find you a job in Netherlands, it’s a scam.

5. Step-By-Step Process From Outside The EU

Step 1: You get an offer from a recognised sponsor
Step 2: Employer applies to IND. Decision takes 2-4 weeks for complete files
Step 3: Depending on your passport, you may need an MVV entry visa. Citizens from many African and Asian countries need MVV. You collect it from Dutch embassy after approval.
Step 4: Register at municipality within 5 days to get your BSN (citizen service number). Without BSN you cannot get paid.
Step 5: Get mandatory health insurance within 4 months (€145-€165/month)

6. 3 Things No One Tells You

A) Housing crisis is real. In Amsterdam, a 1-bedroom is €1,800-€2,300. Many stay in temporary housing 2-3 months. Always negotiate: “Do you provide 1 month temporary housing + assistance?”

B) Your partner can work full-time. If you come on HSM, your spouse/partner and children under 18 can join you, and your partner can work for ANY employer from day 1.

C) If you lose your job, you get 3 months to find a new one. IND gives you a 3-month search period to find another sponsor. You don’t have to leave immediately.

7. Where Should You Apply Based On Your Skill?

Amsterdam / Utrecht: IT, SaaS, Finance, Marketing, Data

Eindhoven / Brainport: Engineering, Semiconductors (ASML, NXP), Hardware

Rotterdam / The Hague: Logistics, Supply Chain, Energy, NGO

Groningen: Energy, Tech

8. It’s because your message is making it impossible for them to reply.

Let me be honest with you.

If you’ve been messaging every HR, recruiter, and hiring manager you can find with “Hi, how are you?” or “Please check my profile and let me know if there’s any suitable role for me” and you’re hearing nothing back...

It’s not because you’re not qualified. It’s not because recruiters are rude.

It’s because your message is making it impossible for them to reply to you.

And I know it’s disappointing. You are trying your best. But the strategy is wrong. Let’s fix it.

Why You Are Getting Ignored

1. You are messaging every HR, even when they have NO open role for you.

This is why you feel so disappointed.

You find an HR at Infosys, TCS, or Amazon. You message: “Hi mam, do you have any vacancies for me?”

Think from her or his side. S/he has no opening for you. S/he cannot create a job for you.

So what can s/he do with your message? Nothing. So s/he ignores it.

And you think, “HRs don’t reply.”

Truth is: No relevant open role = No message.

Your job is to go to their careers page, find ONE role you actually match 70%+, apply, and THEN message. Don’t ask an HR to search a job for you. That’s your work, not theirs.

2. You are starting the conversation like it’s WhatsApp.

“Hi”

“Hi, how are you?”

“Hello sir, are you hiring?”

They are not on LinkedIn to chat with you.

They get 50-100 DMs like this every single day. They know exactly how this chat goes: small talk first, then “please give me a job.”

They don’t have time for it. So they leave you on seen.

LinkedIn is not a chat app. It’s a hiring market. Get to the point in line one.

3. You are asking them to do YOUR homework and it makes you look lazy.

This is the biggest one.

When you write: “Please consider my profile” or “Please check my profile and let me know if there’s any suitable role”, what you are actually saying is:

“I am too lazy to check your careers page, read the job descriptions, and see if I fit. You do that hard work for me.”

No recruiter will ever do that. Ever.

And the second version of laziness: Messaging BEFORE you even apply.

When you say “Please consider me” but you haven’t even applied on their website, the first thing they check is the ATS. If your name is not there, you look lazy and non-serious.

Always apply first. Then message. Now you are not begging. You are informing them: “Someone relevant has applied.”

5 Truths No One Tells You But Are 100% True

1. Recruiters search their inbox by job title. If your message says “I need a job” instead of “Product Marketing Manager role at Razorpay,” you will never show up when they search later.

2. Messaging 3 people at the same company for the same role kills your chances. They sit on the same Slack group. They see you spammed everyone and they all ignore you. Pick ONE right person.

3. Attaching your CV in the first message screams spam. LinkedIn flags it, and no one opens a CV from a stranger. Write your relevance IN the message.

4. Your LinkedIn headline matters more than your message. Before replying, they hover on your name. If your headline says “Seeking opportunities | Fresher” they won’t open your DM. If it says “Performance Marketer | 3 years in SaaS | Scaled 2 brands to 1Cr MRR” — they will.

5. Timing matters. Monday morning and Friday night gets buried. Tuesday to Thursday, 10am - 12pm is when they actually check LinkedIn.

The 4-Line Formula That Actually Gets Replies

Forget long paragraphs. You need 4 lines. Under 80 words.

Line 1: Who you are. Name + what you do.

Line 2: Why you’re reaching out. The EXACT job title, not “any opportunity.”

Line 3: Why you’re relevant. ONE specific skill or result that matches the JD.

Line 4: What you want. A clear, small ask.

“Hi, I came across the [Job Title] role at and noticed you’re hiring for it. My background in [specific skill] closely matches what you’re looking for, particularly [specific requirement from the JD]. I’ve already applied for Req #123 and wanted to introduce myself directly. Would you be open to a brief 15-min conversation?”[Name][Company]

Specific. Relevant. You already applied. Clear ask.

Templates You Can Copy-Paste

1. The most effective - After you applied (Use this 80% of the time):

“Hi, I recently applied for the [Job Title] role at on. With [X years] in [Core Skill], specifically [1 specific achievement that matches JD], I believe I’m a strong fit. Wanted to reach out directly so my application doesn’t get lost in the volume. Happy to share a quick summary if helpful.”[Name][Company][Date]

2. If you were referred:

“Hi, [Referral Name] from [Their Team] suggested I reach out to you directly. I’m exploring the [Job Title] role at and my experience in [Specific Skill] seems closely aligned with your requirement for [JD point]. [Referral Name] thought it was worth a conversation. Would you have 15 minutes?”[Name][Company]

3. If you are a career changer:

“Hi, I came across the [Job Title] role and wanted to reach out directly. My background is in [Old Field] but I’ve been building toward [New Field] through [Specific Project/Course]. I believe my [Transferable Skill] is directly relevant to what this role requires. I’ve applied and would love to discuss further.”[Name]

Before You Hit SEND - 30-Second Check

1. Is there a REAL, open, relevant role that matches me 70%+? If NO, don’t send.

2. Have I already applied on their careers page? If NO, apply first.

3. Does my first line have the EXACT job title?

4. Can they understand why I’m relevant in 10 seconds without opening my profile?

5. Am I messaging only ONE right person at this company?

If it’s 5 yeses, send it. You will get replies.

If They Don’t Reply?

Wait 5-7 working days. Send ONE follow-up. Only one.

“Hi, just following up on my note from last week regarding the [Job Title] role. I’m still very interested and happy to share more about my background if helpful.”[Name]

After that, move on. Two messages is professional. Three is pressure.

The Final Mindset Shift

Stop thinking: “I need to beg every HR to give me a job.”

Start thinking: “I have a relevant skill for a problem they are actively trying to solve right now. I am making their job easier by telling them I applied.”

A cold message is not a favour you are asking for.

It’s information you are providing.

When you write from that energy, your entire message changes.

Try this for the next 10 roles instead of spamming 100 HRs with “Hi, how are you?” Your reply rate will change in one week.

Tags:

Job Search, Career Advice, LinkedIn, Networking, Recruiting

7 Countries That Will Pay You, Support You, or Make It Easier to Move Abroad in 2026

What if moving abroad came with financial support?

Shumaila Shaikh

What if moving abroad came with financial support?

It sounds too good to be true.

But there are real government programs designed to attract workers, remote professionals, families, young people and new residents.

Some offer relocation money.

Some offer housing grants.

Some help with renovation costs.

And some, like Spain’s Digital Nomad Visa, make it easier for certain professionals to build a life there.

Here are 7 countries worth putting on your relocation radar in 2026.

🇪🇸 1. In Switzerland, private employment agencies are regulated under the Employment Services Act and require the appropriate authorisation to operate.

That doesn’t mean every service offered by every company is automatically free. Some businesses legitimately sell career coaching, CV writing or other career services.

But that is very different from a recruitment agency charging you for access to a job.

So if your goal is actually to get hired in Switzerland, start with recruiters whose business model is built around connecting candidates with employers.

Here are six worth knowing.

1. Adecco Switzerland

Adecco Switzerland jobs

Adecco has a large presence across Switzerland, with more than 45 branches, and recruits across areas including administration, finance, healthcare, hospitality, logistics, technical roles, construction, sales and marketing.

They work with both temporary and permanent positions, which makes them particularly useful if you’re open to getting into the Swiss market through different employment models.

And importantly, Adecco explicitly states that its permanent-placement services are free of charge for candidates.

Best for:
Entry to mid-level roles, administration, technical, industrial, logistics, hospitality, healthcare and many other sectors.

2. Manpower Switzerland

Manpower Switzerland

Manpower is another major name to have on your radar.

It’s particularly useful if you’re looking at operational, industrial, logistics, technical or temporary-to-permanent opportunities.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking recruitment agencies are only useful for highly senior corporate positions.

In Switzerland, staffing agencies can be an important route into the labour market, especially when you’re trying to build local experience.

Best for:
Industrial, logistics, technical, operational and temporary-to-permanent opportunities.

3. Robert Half

Robert Half Switzerland jobs

If you’re in finance, accounting or IT, put Robert Half high on your list.

Its Swiss recruitment business covers finance and accounting from entry-level positions through CFO level, as well as IT roles ranging from support and infrastructure to data, security and senior technology positions. (Robert Half)

They also recruit for administrative and office-support positions.

This is a good example of why you shouldn’t simply send your CV to every agency you find.

Specialisation matters.

A recruiter who spends their day filling finance roles is much more likely to understand your profile than a generalist recruiter who happens to have one finance vacancy.

Best for:
Finance, accounting, controlling, compliance, IT and administrative roles.

4. Michael Page Switzerland

Michael Page Switzerland

Michael Page is particularly relevant once you have some professional experience and are looking for a specialist or more senior opportunity.

Their recruitment teams cover areas such as finance, HR, technology, engineering, sales, marketing and other professional functions.

This is one I’d particularly consider if you’re not looking for your first job, but your next career move.

Best for:
Mid-level to senior professionals, particularly in specialist corporate functions.

5. Randstad Switzerland

Randstad Switzerland

Randstad is another major recruitment and staffing player in Switzerland.

The reason I like including agencies such as Randstad in a job-search strategy is simple:

Don’t limit yourself to permanent vacancies.

Temporary assignments, contract positions and other flexible arrangements can sometimes become your entry point into a company or the Swiss labour market.

And once you have Swiss experience on your CV, your next move can become considerably easier.

Best for:
Permanent and temporary roles across multiple industries and professional levels.

6. Approach People Recruitment

Approach People Recruitment

This is one I’d look at if you’re thinking beyond Switzerland.

Approach People has a strong international and multilingual recruitment focus, making it relevant for candidates who see Switzerland as part of a broader European career strategy.

That’s important because your goal doesn’t always have to be:

“How do I get a Swiss job?”

It can also be:

“How do I use Switzerland to build my European career?”

Those are two different strategies.

But here’s where most job seekers get it wrong

Finding six recruitment agencies is easy.

Using them properly is the difficult part.

Don’t upload your CV everywhere and hope someone calls you.

Instead, do this.

1. Match the agency to your profile

Finance? Start with Robert Half and Michael Page.

Industrial or logistics? Look at Manpower and Adecco.

Broad professional roles? Consider Randstad.

International mobility? Approach People may be worth adding.

The goal isn’t to contact the most recruiters.

It’s to contact the right recruiters.

2. Build your profile directly with the agency

Don’t rely only on LinkedIn.

Major agencies maintain their own candidate databases and actively source candidates for vacancies.

For example, Adecco allows candidates to submit their CV and have consultants contact them about suitable opportunities. (Adecco)

Robert Half similarly allows candidates to upload their CV and receive job matches. (Robert Half)

That means your profile can potentially be considered for opportunities you never saw advertised yourself.

3. Don’t disappear after applying

Recruiters are managing multiple vacancies and hundreds of candidates.

If you haven’t heard anything, a professional follow-up can help.

Not:

“Any update???”

Instead:

“Hi, I wanted to follow up on my application (Position title and location with date applied )and check whether my profile could be relevant for any current or upcoming opportunities.”

Short.

Professional.

Easy to respond to.

4. Never confuse a recruiter with a career coach

This distinction is extremely important.

A legitimate career coach can charge you.

A CV consultant can charge you.

A professional interview coach can charge you.

That’s their business model.

But if someone approaches you claiming:

“Pay me €1,000 and I will get you a Swiss job.” Stop, Its scam.

Ask exactly what you’re paying for.

Are you buying coaching?

Or are you supposedly buying access to employment?

Those are completely different things.

Switzerland also gives you a way to verify agencies

Private employment agencies and personnel-leasing companies in Switzerland operate within a regulated framework.

SECO states that businesses regularly providing employment placement for payment require an authorisation, with cantonal authorisation applying to activity within Switzerland and additional federal authorisation required for certain cross-border activity. SECO also maintains a register of authorised placement and personnel-leasing businesses. (SECO)

So if you’re unsure about an agency, don’t just trust its LinkedIn page.

Check whether the business is legitimate.

One more thing: recruitment agencies aren’t magic

This is probably the most important part.

A recruiter cannot create a job that doesn’t exist.

They cannot override Swiss work-authorisation requirements.

They cannot guarantee that an employer will hire you.

And they cannot turn an unsuitable profile into a suitable one.

What they can do is give your profile access to employers and vacancies that may otherwise be difficult to reach.

That’s why your CV, LinkedIn profile, language skills, experience, salary expectations and work authorisation still matter.

Think of a recruiter as a bridge, not a shortcut.

If I were job hunting in Switzerland today

I wouldn’t send the same CV to 50 agencies.

I’d choose 3–5 agencies that match my profession, create profiles directly with them, identify the recruiters specialising in my field, and start building relationships.

And I’d keep applying directly to companies at the same time.

Because the strongest job search strategy isn’t:

Recruiters OR direct applications.

It’s:

Recruiters + direct applications + networking + targeted outreach.

That’s how you increase the number of doors you can actually walk through.

And if someone tells you that you need to pay them to open one, that’s when I’d walk away.

Why Should We Hire You Over Someone With More Experience?

Here’s What to Say

Shumaila Shaikh

This question hits differently and made many candidates doubt themselves.

Most interview questions ask you to talk about yourself. This one asks you to justify yourself against someone you’ve never met.

The instinct is to shrink. To apologise for what you don’t have yet.

Don’t.

What the question is actually asking

The recruiter isn’t asking you to prove you’re better than the other candidate.

They’re asking whether you’re the right fit for this specific role.

Those are very different questions. And the second one you can absolutely answer.

What not to say

❌ “I’m a fast learner.” Everyone says this.

❌ “I’ll work harder than anyone else.” Effort without evidence means nothing.

❌ “I know I don’t have as much experience but...” Starting with an apology frames you as the lesser candidate before you’ve said anything useful.

The formula

Three parts. Under 60 seconds.

Acknowledge the gap briefly. Redirect to what you actually bring. Connect it to this role specifically.

The core response

“I understand some candidates may have more years of experience. What I bring is [relevant skill], a track record of [specific result], and the ability to adapt quickly. I believe that makes me a strong fit for what this role specifically requires.”

Now the real scenarios. Short and usable.

Fresher vs experienced candidate

“I may not have years behind me but I built [specific skill] through [project or internship] and delivered [specific result]. I’m current, motivated, and ready to contribute from day one.”

Career changer

“My background is different but the skills transfer directly. In my last role I [specific achievement]. That same approach applies to what this role needs.”

Going for a promotion or step-up role

“I’ve been doing much of this work already without the title. Over the past [timeframe] I [specific responsibility or result]. I’m not here to learn the role. I’m here to be recognised for what I’m already doing.”

Strong in a specific skill despite fewer years overall

“In [specific area] I’ve been working at a senior level for [timeframe] and delivered [specific result]. For what this role actually requires, that depth matters more than total years.”

Role that needs fresh thinking

“More experience can mean more fixed ways of doing things. I’ve already shown I can [specific innovative result]. For a role that requires [fresh approach], that’s an advantage not a limitation.”

What every strong answer has in common

✓ Acknowledges the gap in one sentence ✓ Pivots immediately to specific evidence ✓ Connects to what this role needs ✓ Ends with confidence not defensiveness

The mindset shift

Years of experience is one data point. Not the only one.

Someone with ten years doing the wrong things can be a worse hire than someone with two years of focused, results-driven work.

Your job isn’t to win an experience contest.

Your job is to make the recruiter confident you can do this specific job well.

Do that and the gap becomes far less relevant than you think it is right now.

Tags: Interview Tips, Career Advice, Job Search, Career Development, Professional Presence
