Then I put my thinking cap on, and went to work. I looked summer photos of myself from the last few years. What did I like?

And suddenly I saw the pattern. It all comes down to the contrast. Vacation often means wearing only one or two pieces of clothing. This is often the case for being in a cottage, by the shore or any other lovely ‘chill-hang-out-summer times’. The kind of vacations where you bring a full bag of makeup and forget all about it after two days.

So I want the clothing to be easy, but not casual. The rule is simple: If wearing sporty shorts; pair it with a shirt or a blouse. If I’m wearing a skirt; pair it with a surf tee. If I’m wearing a plain tee make sure you bring a fun pair of shoes.

This way I hopefully don’t look like I’m going to the gym all the time, or will not end up with a rack of to styled pieces in my suitcase I will never wear and the same shorts and T-shirt combo every day.

Oh, and bring some of your cool stuff! A fancy bag, some extreme earrings, great sunglasses and your favorite shoes. Your designer items needs to touch grass sometimes too.

I bought my Alaia eyelet flats for my trip to Australia because they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever tried, and the thought of walking around in hiking shoes gave me wardrobe-anxiety. I bought them used, and they look a little worn by now but mostly they look like they were worth the money since I wear them almost every day.

And most importantly! Have the best summer ever!

This also means that I can have a complete melt down in the Phoebe Philo store about a pair of white jeans on sale, while not remembering the words I wrote here only a month prior.

So despite my opinion being that other people look very cool in white jeans, but they don’t fit me at all - I bought the stupid expensive jeans because they were on sale and maybe, also because I was hungry.

I decided I would return them. They were too expensive. I also showed them to my two full-time-stylist-friends and they laughed at me.

But the due for return is over. So the jeans are stuck with me, and that means you are stuck with me too, until I talk myself back into loving the concept on myself wearing white jeans.

The jeans are beautiful. No doubt about how cool and chic they are. But how do I look super cool and Phoebe Philo-ish and not like a costal grandma Diane Keaton?

I googled Olsen Twins White Jeans.. No luck. I went on Pinterest and typed in white jeans. A sea of super pretty and very thin girls wearing white jeans and a black tank top. As mentioned I’m a millennial so I have body issues the size of my closet, tank tops for me is anxiety.

I liked this styling with a shirt and belt. Saved in folder.

And this is a save look which also made me calmer.

But I’m still not sure how I will style my jeans to feel like me! Which is a bit insane, since I wear blue jeans everyday and these should not feel so incredibly different. Well, it does!

Then the amazing thing happened. Paris Couture Week. Which means my screen time is extra high while everyone else watches sports all summer. Balenciaga Couture made me sigh with relief since I have been so confused to why Pierpaolo Piccioli made so bad collections for Balenciaga when he was such a perfect fit for Valentino. It turned out he just needed some time, and we are back baby! The collection was amazing.

So was Dior, which was more expected. And there in the crowd was Pharrell Williams and his extremely cool wife Helen! and what was she wearing?! The white Phoebe Philo jeans!

A thousand screen shots later I was finding my white jeans peace. I very rarely wear sneakers anymore so it’s not even that I want to copy her look. I just really like her vibe and she made the jeans look exactly how I wanted. Cool, relaxed and a secret language to people like me who knew from the first step that the fringed hem was the work of Philo.

Let’s end the story with the image of my brain which is hyper focused on Jonathan Anderson, trying to be as cool as the Williams but most of the time is just me being Suzy Menkes with a cane feeling like I’m a thousand years older than everyone on my internet.

p.s in my search for white jeans outfit picks I found a lot of great pairs for a way better budget. These are mens but very nice color!, A classic from Elin, People really like this brand and I keep wanting to try!

Every boy in my class wore skater clothes, even if they knew how to use a board a not. The girls had UFO pants, skater tees and DC shoes. It was simply the only thing or brands we knew from age 10-15.

In high school I bought my own board, mostly to click it to my Quiksilver backpack and carry it around. It was a Zoo York board, that I got from a friend and added pink grip tape in the local skate shop. It was amazing. (I had it for many many years and it made it’s way to some fashion editorials when I worked at the magazine COVER)

The style changed; Cheap Monday super tight jeans, club kid vibe, black everything inspired by The Antwerp Six, Boho chic, model of duty in those distressed T-shirts, Phoebe Philos Celine, Supreme, norm core, Jonathan Anderson, back to the 90’s, minimalism.

But one thing I have always been a little obsessed with is a branded T-shirt from the brands from my youth. There is something very cool about wearing a T-shirt with fashion clothes, that not only me, but the whole world of women I scroll past is very into at the moment.

Logo T-shirts and ironic (or iconic) quotes is having a very hot summer!

I spend Christmas and New years in Melbourne to visit family and I bought so many surfer T-shirts - the Australian version of all the sarongs you would normally fall in love with on vacation. My favorite was a bright yellow Quiksilver T-shirt with a white logo. Totally out of wardrobe character, and my boyfriend mistake me for an ice cream sales girl when I wore it to the beach, but lovely.
This week I accidentally washed it with some black clothes and it is now same color as curry. A tragedy.

Before the Australian trip I deep dived other fashion girls obsession with surfer and skate wear. Honorable mentions are Carrie Bradshaw in the board shorts in the Hamptons, Chloë Sevigny’s collaboration with Fucking Awesome, the movie Blue Crush, and that picture of Alexa Chung on a skateboard holding on to Dev Hynes that I had printed out and pinned on my wall when I was 21.

So with all this story behind it, let’s look at some of the T-shirts I am currently eying!

Stüssy is always a great place to start. They have amazing colors and is fashion enough to avoid people laughing at you because you are wearing a Trasher T-shirt….

This is great, we will all be wearing purple by the end of the year anyways, and another great color!

I might be biased since it’s my BFF who started a reading empire but this T-shirt is amazing.

And you can’t speak of books without mentioning Climate Books. Of course their merch T-shirts are perfect.

Sometimes a plain t-shirt have the same vibe. A great T-shirt with high end jewelry will forever be a vibe. Love the shape and color of this.

The best (or worst) part of a very good graphic t-shirt is you will find the coolest ones in a thrift or vintage shop. Mix it with your most fancy clothes and shoes and you have the perfect summer fit.

I don’t know anything about sports of any kind, but I think my relationship with Toteme and ofc Elin Kling is pretty similar to how people feel about their sports team.

Unconditional love.

It’s not just the clothes. It’s the styling, the decor of the store and campaign and content that is just so delicious.

The Toteme sale is something I look forward to like Christmas! So here are my favorites from the new summer sale, for us all to be carried away by.

I always start by browsing bags and shoes and I have been eying this clutch since I was in Stockholm in December. Would be silly not to buy…

Wore these in red for a red carpet event earlier this year and love them . But the black is even more perfect.

I got married in a Toteme dress last year (told ya the love was unconditional!) If I had a second wedding this year I would have bought this dress so fast!

My friend Sofie is very cool. She always look super cool and fashionable, but she doesn’t like to shop, which for a shopping addict like myself is very mysterious in a confusing but chic way.

Once every three months she text me asking me what to get for her wardrobe.

I have memorized all my best friends clothing and most importantly shoe size and will weekly send someone a link or a photo from a random thrift store when I spot something I think they should get.

So ofc, I live for these text.

I also get a lot of instagram DM’s about what people should get for summer. I like helping others, but I love getting compliment for my own style so this is based of things I like, want and have. But I thought it would be fun to let my summer wardrobe plan for Sofie be for everyone?

Sofie, we both love to show legs! So we have no Bermuda shorts in this guide. I actually find them very chic, but also very hard to style and we are working with easy choices in this case.

Instead, you need a pair of super short but wide split running shorts! Affordable, comfortable and looks great with a shirt or even a blazer jacket.

I did once wear mine with a basic T-shirt and sneakers and met a friend who asked if I was out for a run. To avoid confusion I wear mine with a more elevated top and never with sporty shoes. Ballet flats, heels or flip flops.

My three pairs are all vintage sport shorts. The most important thing is to buy the tiny sports shorts in a very big size. Makes your legs look amazing with the wide, but super short cut. I think my Nike is XXXL and my absolute favorite pair. So remember to size up!

ARKET made a version in terry cotton that I already added to cart. Get the brown satin from COS to wear with a white shirt and heels. This shirt is easy with a good fit.

The classic split running shorts (mens version has the better fit) for every day. Vinted have a ton of them - I just cut out the “underwear” part because they fit me better without and also, it gives me the ick…

Denim! For summer I like one pair of loose fit and a pair of super tight nice butt fit. One for vacation and one for nights out wearing only with a T-shirt and heels. The butts jeans should to be Levi’s 501s. (Sofie, I will take you on a hunt. The rest of you follow this guide <3)

White denim is having a HUGE moment. I don’t mind it, but I love a more beige or brown version since that fits better with black or a washed cotton T-shirt.

The pocket version from COS is almost like a work pant and very flattering. Looks like something The Row would make. Very good with a white T-shirt - and you already know that THIS is the best T-shirt in the world.

I added THESE brown jeans to my wardrobe last summer and I use them all the time. They are a bit short so I can only wear for summer with bare feet. Actually they would be too short for you Sof, so just ignore the last pair!

A great casual shirt is like the upper body version of Havaianas?! Goes with everything from beach cover up to, to summer dinner attire and if you choose a checked or striped one you don’t see wrinkles as much and just look like a 90’s J.Crew commercial (you know the one with the cast from Dawson’s Creek) Again, I would always say size up.

I’m pretty sure I already shared this shirt by By Malene Birger before, but it really is a great shirt and I love the big cuffs - and just saw it was on sale! The checked blue from Tekla is a bit shorter and boxy is the most delish blue. Perfect open over a white tee! Another great sale find is the striped version from Toteme. Would look perfekt tugged in the brown jeans!

Seeing this photo of Alexa Chung on her way to Cannes let me on an immediate quest for a track jacket. The jeans, jacket and ballet flat combo! Yes!

Love a boy-ish summer jacket looking a bit more effortless than a long Mac coat. The green from Sunflower is such a great color with denim and I every time I have spotted someone wearing it in Copenhagen I have thought they looked so cool.

& Other Stories made a classic track jacket that looks like the Alexa Chung fit (that one is by Commission and sold out ofc) and I really like the brown from COS and that super big hoodie.

Okay, what are we missing? Shoes?

You know I love a funny shoe, since I don’t care much for funny clothing. And all the summer outfits I have found is pretty chill so max out on shoes. Havaianas is a no brainer. Love them with jeans, love them as a substitute for heels with a hot dress, love them in my bag on the nights I’m actually wearing heels.

I’m not great with sneakers at the moment - I like a small shoe, so I would suggest the smallest sneaker you can find. The Moon Shoe by Nike was made in collaboration with Jacquemus and sold out in an instant. But they just realeased a just Nike version so everyone can look cool.

Ballet flats is a pretty much as essential as a good pair of Levi’s. You know I have a million pairs and my favorite this season is the studded flats from Alaia and my leopard flats from Pretty Ballerina. Sofie, you would look very cool with a red one and this shape from Arket is one of my all time favorite ballet flats.

I love a slip in heel even if they are difficult to walk in. But JUDE makes the sexiest shoes and Loewe in that gold leather is just too delicious!

This turned into a novel very quickly so maybe we could call this summer guide; chapter one. And save some links for another time?

What else do you need? Bathing suits is traumatic to try, purchase and sometimes wear but Hunza G makes a very good suit (and I don’t get it but it really is just one size and fits), sunglasses I like Ray-ban Mr Burbank for every day and a bonkers sunnie as an extra. Rumor has it the round Celine sunnies will be back in stock soon!

I am proud not to have any interest in the murder-podcast-universe though! I listen to fashion talks, anything Dolly Alderton guests, The Lonely Island & Seth Meyers and I spend two years with The Office Ladies because I love TV almost as much as I love clothes. The way my brain shuts off when listening to people talk about not-complicated topics that I love is soothing. But also another distraction from world and thoughts.

I listen to music, of course I do. But more like background when working or if I need a serious pick me up.

But then I watched a stupid hockey show in January and in the 4th episode ‘My Moon My Man’ by Feist suddenly took me back to life before. Before podcasts and brain fog. I used to listen to Feist almost every day. I worked at a cafe, and they had two Feist cd’s that I played back to back on each shift. Listening to that song again was one of those experience where you can almost smell and taste the past.

I had to listen again, and again and suddenly I biked to work with Feist on repeat every day for a week. I suddenly wanted to dive back to every song I listened to in the years of just moving to Copenhagen and starting the life I live today. I went back to Lykkeli, Beach House, more Feist, James Blake, The XX, a lot of N*E*R*D and suddenly I found myself listening to music all the time.

It’s now been 5 months of very little podcast and a lot of music and it feels so good. I actually get ideas on my commutes, and most of all I crave music all the time. Soon festival season starts and I’m so pumped and can’t wait to be surrounded by music.

I guess this is what people who manage to actually manage their screen time experiences. I’m still at a place where I would win Strava if you could put in your screentime instead of running tracks. But at least I’m doing it while singing along.

If you are not really sure how to pivot from ice-cold winter to spring, a quick trip to Paris is the perfect opportunity to try out some new wardrobe additions.

I packed 26 kg suitcase for 4 days, and when my friend Trine saw me unpack she laughed so hard since I brought four pair of blue jeans and three black jumpers that I thought was all extremely different.

But I love a wardrobe that has variations of the same base items. And you know how I feel about my jeans collection!

This was one of my favorite fits from my trip. The super size car coat is the right shade of beige with almost a tiny hint of green. I wore it with vintage Levi’s 505 and flats that is kind of medieval core but in a cool way?

Not only does this jacket look like a million dollars, it is also (understandable) sold out. I wore it to look at people playing petanque at Place Dauphine while drinking to go wine in the sun. Perfect fit and activity. (If you are setting an alarm for availability please note that it’s small in size.) Arket leather goods are always amazing. I get a ton of compliments for this jacket that I wear three times a week at the moment.

Fun part of this outfit is that I wore almost identical version of it in Paris a year ago. I also share this to show you that it was not ‘Love Story’ that made me mad about a beige leather skirt. But if you are a little CBK obsessed it truly has that vibe.

How did I suddenly become obsessed with blue eyeshadow is a mystery to me.

Maybe it started when I became very into how Hailey Bieber wears cooler tones in makeup and had that as an inspiration for my wedding makeup. I made the makeup artist switch from a warmer rose to the ‘cool baby pink’ from Saie on the day.

I have since used it daily for a bit of fresh cheek look.

Last week walking around in Paris in spring sunny weather I suddenly NEEDED that eyeshadow. At first I went to Byredo, because I felt like they would totally understand the vibe. They only had a huge palette with 20 colors, all fab! but a bit much. But next door was a MAC store. A place I haven’t visited in 20 years.

My best friend used to collect MAC eyeshadows in high school. I didn’t know anything about makeup and I also did not have a ‘clothing allowance’ like she did so I would never have money for expensive eyeshadows. She asked me weekly to go to the store and get the newest color. I let her pursued me once, bought a gold shimmer and never wore it a day in my life.

But here I was in the store asking for baby blue eyes. The makeup artist took a look at me and told me I should wear lilac instead.

Kind of killed my vibe, lilac is just not as cool as baby blue!

But she took out her brush and before I knew it I was walking the streets of Paris with lilac eyes and a MAC bag in hand. I looked incredible! Why have I never worn eyeshadow before!

Because I’m not a cool person I ended up having eyeshadow conversations with pretty much everyone I met the following night. And I think that is exactly the reason why I never experimented with this kind of makeup before. Much like taking the risk of wearing a hat.

Now I was so invested in the eyeshadow and suddenly I realized where it started. The makeup look from one of my favorite collections of fashion month. Conner Ives almost cabaret-ish makeup. Dusty lilac and pink.

A bit more melancholic than my lilac adventure, and so beautiful. I think the Conner Ives was Tom Ford. The name of my new eyeshadow is almost too ironic after writing a full page of how good it made me look…. It is called #humblebrag.

Can’t remember what I wore on Monday. Probably boring.

On Tuesday I had to go against my own pre-trip wardrobe malfunctions for another weird wardrobe behavior. I got dressed up to go visit a bag.

I have been thinking of the Phoebe Philo ‘Gig Bag’ for months and months. So beautiful and I actually convinced myself I need it. I don’t have a spacious shoulderbag! After eyeing it a few times in the store STOY here in Copenhagen (be sure to visit they only carry bangers on hangers) I decided we needed a proper date. So I dressed up and had a cappuccino with the bag.

Wearing my new hourglass blazer, vintage 501’s and beat up Gucci loafers (every piece second hand) and a great cashmere.

The bag would be perfect for Paris or any other city and I felt so smart. But I also have never spend so much money on a single item, and the thought of going to Paris after just spending my entire savings was too sad. So I had to let Phoebe go for now.

Wednesday was cold and boring. But I do love to wear sweater instead of a scarf.

The week got a lot more fun when I found this coat in a second hand store. Feels like ‘Love Story’ and ‘Heated Rivalry’ had a baby and I bought it on the spot.

Friday I was trying to break in some very tight jeans. Perfect in wash and length, especially for wearing heels but so so so tight. I also managed to send a few emails.

Sitting with my computer, transferring images from my phone (or camera back in the days!) and thinking of clever things to write to my outfit of the day is like being back at blogspot. I know everyone under 35 is able to do long writes on their phones, but I still need big screen for big words.

But, I do like familiarities, so even if I feel a bit rusty I’m getting a kick out of my newsletter era.

This week felt like week 2.500 of snow in Copenhagen. I can’t remember the last time the winter was this bad. Maybe it was in the Blogspot years too.

As a person who does not identify with puffer jackets, it’s been rough. It’s not that I don’t like practical clothing. I am just very comfortable in loafers, Toteme boots and ballet flats. And I hate wearing a scarf. I have in panic bought three sad excuses of clothes to keep me warmer. A quilted jacket that turned out to be a scam and not providing any warm, an old skiing jacket that I makes me look like a man from the 80’s, and a bright orange fleece jacket in a moment of weakness in a thrift shop. When I wore the fleece out on monday, my friend screamed when she saw me. Understandable since I have not worn any bright colors since high school.

Besides the shitshow of outerwear the week did end on a high note clothing wise.

Monday morning realising way too late that I was wearing head to toe Toteme. This happening the same day as I saw this post only makes it more embarrassing. In my defence I was doing the monday thing of wearing all my favorite clothes at once.

The V-neck is perfectly low, I had the pants altered a bit in the length so they crease in a good way with flats but can also be used with heels. I found the boots on Vestiaire and pressed buy as soon as I read the word ‘fur lined’ - there is two sizes left on sale the outnet. The bag in the background is my work bag and hold a laptop, pencil case (should make a full story about carrying pens later), a sweater and a thousand other things but doesn’t look too big. I love it very much!

Tuesday I worked from home to be available all day for the delivery of my latest big purchase. The fall 2018 Balenciaga hourglass blazer. I tried it on with all of my clothes and wrote about it here.

Wednesday I discovered that there is a fine line between wearing an all black outfit and looking like a stage worker at a big tour.

So I made a big deal out of telling everyone that my jeans were Phoebe Philo (and that I bought them on sale). The knit is thrifted cashmere but almost an excact match with this. Boots are Toteme.

Thursday something wild happened, I wore a skirt and stockings for the first time in what feels like years. I found it in a thrift store earlier this week and had this look in my head while I bought it. All thanks to this handmade skirt in old Prada fabric. Mine is not as fancy, but had to give it a go before I made a big purchase. Will extend the trial period.

Knit is this again, thighs are wool from Maria La Rosa (these are also good) and loafers very old beat up Gucci that I hope will last forever.

Here we are Friday, and I’m in vintage 501’s and a cashmere knit watching tv and getting ready for a wardrobe clean-out. Looks pretty much like this or this. Or just google Jonathan Anderson since we share the same work-robe.

Maybe it was after Pierpaolo Piccioli’s debut collection for Balenciaga, which I thought was such a mess, that I really became obsessed with Demna’s first collections for the brand.

I remember it so vividly how the collections (starting with Vetement ofc) felt so fresh and new and exciting. I wanted it all! And to my surprise looking back at it 10 years, I still do! I have had a Vestiaire reach on ‘Balenciaga Swing Jacket’ for three years. The dream is the original green and blue skii-ish jacket. But to this day, I have never seen it online.

There was the leather xl handbags that looked like the plastic bags you buy your duvets in, there was the diamond and crystal embezzled satin heels, the recut denim jackets (also on my Vestiaire search list) and then there was the hourglass blazer.

The akward and very flattering cut of the tailored blazer with hips and sharp shoulder. I love that blazer so much. And now 10 years later! I bought it!

After searching for years for my size, and within my budget the hunt payed of. Someone had listed the blazer without the style name keeping it under the radar for some, but not this professional vintage shopper.

The pictures was kind of bad and the description vague. I wrote and asked about sizing and got send some extra pictures. It was not as expensive as the other jackets I’ve seen earlier, but it would still be a high price if it didn’t fit me. But I took the chance. It came today. Hang tag still on. fits like a glove.

This is from the aw18 collection. Because this jacket is so good it’s still being made for every Baleciaga collection. And I will admit that a quick pinterest search also showed that it has become a little basic with the many dupes and remakes.

But I still love it so much and I can’t wait to wear it as a everyday piece, as a dress, as a suit and as a reminder of a collection that changed how we all dressed back in 2016.

My collection is big! I have three piles; ‘Favorites’, ‘weird fitting’ (that I wear instead of sweatpants) and ‘don’t fit but will safe for a rainy day’.

90% of my collection is the Vintage Levi’s. The perfect wash and thichness of material.

My all time favorite model is the iconic 501. The most popular Levi’s model and probably the one you’ve seen on all the ‘stars in airports’ from the 90’s. Pretty high waisted with a straight leg and the infamous button closure. I like mine from the 80’s - by now I believe I can scan from how the tag looks. I don’t understand why Levi’s found it reasonable to change the fit over the years, but they have, and the 501’s you can buy today is not doing the original justice.

I buy mine in vintage stores, thrift shops and flea market and ofc on my favorite app Vestiaire. I found some very good ones. Perfect color HERE, my size (so maybe I should buy) HERE, light blue HERE, Another great blue HERE.

The remaining pairs in my closet are the 505. Biggest difference is the zipper closure. This sucks in the tummy a bit more and makes them great for a tucked-in-top situation. The leg is a bit more narrow. I like these jeans for a night out with a heel.

A little harder to find the 505’s but THESE looks very good and found another great pair HERE.

There is ofc a thousand different versions, and the bad news is you better just go and try them all on. but, once you have you will be able to tell if this is one of those perfect magic pairs that makes you feel so chic but chill that you never want to wear anything else.

I’m sailing between size 30 and 31 in vintage Levi’s. I’m more likely to fit a 30 in other brands so let’s conclude they are a bit small in sizing. I wear a length 32 for flat shoes like ballet flats or my favorite Toteme boots. For heels I need a size 34 in length (this is one of the reasons why my collection is ever growing.)

A little trick for flea market jeans shopping is to measure width of the jeans around your neck. It’s the same size as your waist so if you don’t strangle yourself you will fit them.

And if you can’t deal with all this and just want a new pair of great denim - I’ve tried all those too. Khaite makes great denim and THESE are my favorite pair. A budget friendly solution is THESE - I tried them last week. They fit super big, but giving vintage fit.

Then came instagram, and in the last 10 years I have pivoted my entire focus to pictures. I even changed my job from fashion editor to photographer.

not sure I am able to put all my images into words again, but I am craving a space to share all the things I stumble upon that are not drowned by algorithm and performance anxiety.

A place to share a dress I randomly have a thought on, or maybe a rant about neckline of sweaters (why are they often so wide and not more like a sweatshirt?!).

We can start with what I have most pictures of. Dressing rooms. A sacred space (except when I’m bra shopping which I hate with a passion). I always look kind of good in dressing rooms, the full mirrors and a optimism that the garment I have selected is “the one”. Sometimes I try something just to know the feeling of being a ‘Prada girl’ or Phoebe Philo woman. Well knowing I could never afford. I love stores so much. I was embarrassingly late to webshopping - I have since more than made up for it! But I still prefer a retail and dressing room over any browser.

Same month I tried this old men’s blazer in a thrift shop. no dressing room is too unflattering for me.
