When conversations turn to historical accountability, colonization, and the legacy of slavery, a striking double standard appears. Light-skinned Heritage Americans are routinely assigned a heavy burden of collective ancestral guilt, often regardless of their actual family lineage. At the same time, the former Spanish colonies of Latin America—nations built on the same foundations of violent conquest and mass enslavement—frequently receive a pass.

This selective assignment of guilt is not an accident of history. It is the product of different models of race, the weaponization of national identity by foreign elites, the institutional choices each region made toward indigenous peoples, and a resentment directed specifically at the United States.

Conversos, Columbus, and the First Voyages

Spanish colonization of the Americas began with ships already carrying the religious conflicts of late medieval Spain. Christopher Columbus’s first fleet departed on August 3, 1492—the day after the deadline set by the Alhambra Decree for Jews to leave Spain or convert. There is much evidence that Columbus was a converso. Conversos were Jews & Muslims who converted to please the decree either genuinely or fraudulently. Several newly baptized conversos sailed with him.

Luis de Torres, born Yosef ben HaLevi HaIvri, converted days before departure and served as interpreter because of his knowledge of Hebrew and Arabic. Other conversos on the voyage included the fleet bursar Alfonso de la Calle, the surgeon Rodrigo Sánchez of Segovia, and the physician Maestro Bernal. When the expedition reached Cuba, de Torres became the first person of Jewish descent recorded on the island. Conversos also reached Puerto Rico on the second voyage in 1493.

A 2024 Spanish DNA study led by forensic geneticist José Antonio Lorente analyzed remains attributed to Columbus and his son Hernando. The results were described as compatible with Sephardic Jewish origins from the western Mediterranean, most likely Spain. Researchers suggested Columbus concealed this background to avoid persecution. Supporting details include the voyage’s timing with the expulsion, financing from prominent conversos such as Luis de Santángel, and Columbus’s own logbook reference to the Jews’ expulsion. The findings remain debated, yet they fit a larger pattern: the colonial enterprise launched from a Spain obsessed with limpieza de sangre (purity of blood) even as it exported extraction across the ocean.

Over the following two centuries, more conversos entered the Spanish colonies despite formal bans. Many adopted ordinary geographic surnames and moved into the interior—Cuba’s Oriente region and Puerto Rico’s Cordillera Central—where they intermarried with Spanish settlers and surviving Taíno. Their formal Jewish practice faded; fragmented customs sometimes lingered without explanation. The result was populations whose ancestry was already more complicated than modern binary narratives allow.

The Scale of Enslavement

Of the roughly 10.7 million Africans who survived the Middle Passage, the British North American colonies that became the United States received only about 388,000–450,000 people—under 5 percent of the total. Brazil alone took approximately 4.8 million. Spanish America received on the order of 1.5 million directly from Africa, with further transfers through inter-colonial trade. Cuba remained a major destination into the nineteenth century.

Even the symbolic 1619 arrival in Virginia fits this pattern. The Africans landed at Point Comfort had been taken from a Portuguese ship, the São João Bautista, carrying captives from Angola bound for Veracruz in New Spain. English privateers intercepted the vessel and sold a portion of its cargo in Virginia. The first Africans in English North America were originally destined for a Spanish colony.

The Caribbean Indigenous Collapse

The Taíno societies of Hispaniola, Cuba, and Puerto Rico collapsed within decades of contact. Disease was the largest single killer across the hemisphere, but the Spanish encomienda system of forced labor, warfare, and relocation accelerated the disaster. Resistance leaders such as Hatuey were executed in Cuba.

Genetics reveals the sex-specific character of the destruction. Mitochondrial DNA, inherited only through the mother, shows substantial Taíno continuity: roughly 30–35 percent of modern Cubans and around 60 percent of Puerto Ricans carry indigenous maternal lineages. Indigenous Y-chromosome markers, passed only from father to son, are rare. Indigenous women were absorbed into Spanish households in large numbers; indigenous men died disproportionately from labor, disease, and violence. After independence, many Spanish American nations elevated mestizaje—racial mixing as national essence—into official ideology. The claim was that because the population was a blend of Spanish, Indigenous, and African roots, racism had been transcended.

Anyone who has lived in these countries knows the gap between the claim and daily life. In Mexico, lighter-skinned people of more European appearance continue to dominate business, media, politics, and elite circles. Visibly indigenous people—still commonly called indios, often with pejorative force—face higher poverty, limited access to quality services, and open social discrimination. Many remain concentrated in marginalized rural communities or urban shantytowns. The same pigmentocratic pattern appears across much of the region: European-looking elites retain disproportionate power while darker and indigenous populations occupy the lower rungs.

This arrangement performs useful work internationally. Wealthy or middle-class people of substantial Spanish colonial ancestry can invoke a generalized Latino or anti-colonial identity when dealing with the United States, shielding themselves from scrutiny of their own societies’ hierarchies while directing moral pressure outward.

Puerto Rico and the Politics of Selective Ancestry

Puerto Ricans as a population descend in significant part from Spanish settlers of the colonial era, combined with surviving Taíno maternal lines and African ancestry from the slave trade. Public figures such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have described this mixture: descendants of Spanish colonizers, indigenous peoples, African slaves, and, in her account, Sephardic Jewish refugees. She has stated that Puerto Ricans “are black; we are indigenous; we are Spanish; we are European.”

Her maternal surname, Cortés, is the same as that of Hernán Cortés, the conquistador who led the conquest of the Aztec Empire. The name is common and does not prove direct descent from the famous captain. The coincidence remains instructive. A prominent American politician who frames U.S. history through colonial oppression and racial hierarchy carries a surname shared with one of the most successful Spanish conquerors, while representing a population whose genetic and historical foundations include that same colonial project. Selective emphasis on the indigenous and African strands, while instrumentalizing or soft-pedaling the Spanish colonial strand, mirrors the larger double standard.

Institutional Choices: Tribal Sovereignty versus Assimilation

The contrast grows sharper when examining how each region structured its relationship with indigenous peoples.

The United States recognizes Native American tribes as domestic dependent nations with rights to self-governance. This framework, whatever its historical origins in trauma and broken treaties, created clear legal channels for federal funding. Resources flow to tribal healthcare (the Indian Health Service), tribal colleges, language preservation, and other programs under tribal administration.

Most former Spanish colonies took a different path. Under various forms of indigenismo, governments pursued assimilation into a singular national identity rather than recognition of distinct sovereign tribes. Mexico’s recent constitutional reforms granting indigenous communities greater legal standing are real, yet decades of neglect, corruption, and the absence of a robust sovereignty model have left many rural indigenous populations with high rates of poverty and weak public services. The structural difference is measurable: the United States built mechanisms that, however imperfect, acknowledge separate indigenous political existence; most Spanish American states did not.

The Engine of the Double Standard

The selective guilt assigned to Heritage Americans is not driven by consistent historical accounting. Spanish colonization produced higher absolute numbers of enslaved Africans and some of the fastest indigenous population collapses on record. European-descended or European-looking elites still sit at the top of many Latin American hierarchies while indigenous people remain marginalized.

What differs is the target. Because the United States is the remaining global superpower and English is the dominant academic and media language, its history became the primary template for original sin. Complex processes are reduced to skin color. A person of substantial Spanish ancestry can identify with the victim branches of the family tree and claim marginalized status internationally. A fair-skinned American—even one with a Native mother, converso ancestors, or other complicated lineage—is automatically placed in the oppressor category by appearance alone.

When a cultural system judges people by phenotype while ignoring character, actual ancestry, and parallel histories elsewhere, it is no longer an objective reckoning with the past. It is a form of selective racial reasoning. History is too complex for a skin-color binary. A consistent standard would apply the same scrutiny to Spanish, Portuguese, French, and British records alike—or abandon the practice of collective ancestral guilt entirely.

The slogan “No one is illegal on stolen land” is one of the clearest examples of the double standard. It is routinely directed at the United States and at Heritage Americans as a way of questioning the country’s legitimacy. The same phrase is almost never applied to the populations of Mexico, Central America, South America, or the Caribbean—even though those lands were also taken from indigenous peoples through conquest, disease, and forced labor under Spanish and Portuguese rule.

If the principle were consistent, large portions of Latin America would be open to the same charge. The descendants of Spanish colonizers form the political, economic, and cultural elites in many of these countries, while indigenous communities often remain poorer, more marginalized, and with far less institutional power than federally recognized tribes in the United States. American Indian tribes, whatever the historical traumas of conquest and broken treaties, possess recognized sovereignty, reservation lands, treaty rights, federal recognition processes, and dedicated funding streams such as the Indian Health Service. In much of Latin America, indigenous groups lack equivalent structures and continue to face open discrimination, higher poverty rates, and weaker legal standing.

People who deploy the “stolen land” slogan against Americans almost never tell Latinos that they, too, are living on conquered territory, or that their countries’ indigenous populations do not enjoy the same degree of formal recognition and institutional support found in the United States. The principle is applied selectively. It functions less as a universal moral claim about indigenous rights and more as a targeted critique of one country and one population.

That selectivity is the heart of the hypocrisy. A consistent standard would either apply the same historical scrutiny to every post-conquest society in the Americas, or it would abandon collective ancestral guilt as a useful way of understanding the present. The current version does neither. It reserves its strongest moral pressure for fair-skinned Americans while granting a broad exemption to societies whose own colonial foundations and present-day hierarchies are at least as severe.

History is not a morality play written only for Americans. A consistent standard would either confront the full record of conquest and hierarchy across the Americas—or abandon collective ancestral guilt altogether. The current version does neither. It simply reserves its harshest judgment for one population while granting everyone else a pass. Until the same standard is applied evenly across the hemisphere, the selective guilt aimed at Heritage Americans remains what it has always been: a double standard.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, mainstream media and entertainment outlets frequently presented Jenna Jameson as a savvy businesswoman and empowered icon. The idea that “doing porn/OnlyFans is a smart business move” or inherently empowering was heavily promoted. The data and human outcomes suggest it is, for most, a high-risk, high-cost path with steeply diminishing returns and lasting personal consequences.

Can We Turn the Clock Back?

Cultural shifts of this magnitude are hard to reverse quickly in open societies. Complete prohibition faces free speech and enforcement hurdles. However, several developments offer hope:

• Honest public conversation about risks, rather than one-sided empowerment narratives.

• Better education for young people on addiction, pair bonding, and long-term outcomes.

• Support for those exiting the industry.

• Cultural and religious institutions modeling alternative visions of human dignity, commitment, and family.

Recent years have shown signs of pushback. Some polling and reporting indicate renewed interest in traditional Christianity and Catholicism among segments of young adults. While overall religious affiliation has declined for decades, there are pockets—particularly among young men in certain communities—showing increased engagement. One plausible contributing factor is the search for meaning, structure, and stable romantic partnerships in environments that prioritize shared values over casual sex culture. Individuals still have agency. Cultural institutions that tell the fuller truth—about both risks and the possibility of better paths—can help restore a healthier equilibrium. The apparent hunger among some young people for meaning and stable connection suggests the appetite for that shift already exists.

For years, Western societies have been lectured endlessly about “Islamophobia”—an accusation often wielded to shut down any criticism of integration failures, cultural clashes, or security risks tied to mass migration from Muslim-majority countries. It’s time to flip the script. White Europeans and their diaspora descendants, who make up a small global minority, have shown remarkable generosity in opening their nations. Yet that openness is met far too often with intolerance, demands for special treatment, and outright violence rooted in supremacist attitudes toward non-Muslims—infidels. This is Infidelophobia, and honest discussion about it is long overdue.

A Global Minority Extending a Hand

Whites of European descent comprise roughly 8-16% of the world’s population, depending on definitions—a clear global minority amid billions in Asia, Africa, and elsewhere. Despite this, countries built by these populations—across Europe, North America, and beyond—have welcomed millions of Muslim immigrants, often with generous welfare systems, legal protections, and cultural accommodations. Mosques proliferate. Halal options abound. Prayer rooms appear in schools and workplaces. Public expressions of faith are tolerated in ways that would be unthinkable in reverse.

Try moving to Saudi Arabia or Qatar as a Christian or secular Westerner while demanding to build churches, hold public processions, or insist on serving pork at state functions. Saudi Arabia prohibits public non-Muslim worship entirely; no churches are permitted, and private practice carries risks. Many Muslim-majority nations heavily regulate or restrict non-Muslim religious expression, proselytizing, or conversions away from Islam. Christians and other minorities face blasphemy laws, discrimination, and far tighter constraints.

Yet in the West, the expectation often flows one way: accommodate Islamic customs, sensitivities, and demographics—or face accusations of bigotry. Street prayers blocking traffic, demands to alter school curricula or menus, and resistance to assimilation aren’t hallmarks of reciprocal gratitude. This asymmetry highlights Infidelophobia: a worldview that views non-Muslims as lesser, to be subdued, converted, or kept subordinate rather than equals in a pluralistic society.

When Tolerance Meets Hatred

The ugly underbelly appears in violence that targets Western, Christian, or simply “infidel” symbols and people. Christmas markets—festive celebrations of European cultural and religious heritage—have repeatedly become slaughter sites. The 2016 Berlin truck attack killed 12 and injured dozens; Strasbourg 2018, Magdeburg 2024, and others followed similar patterns of Islamist perpetrators deliberately striking holiday crowds. These aren’t random crimes but acts steeped in hatred for the host culture’s traditions.

Even more disturbing are patterns of sexual violence, such as the UK grooming gangs scandals. In places like Rotherham and other towns, organized groups—disproportionately men of Pakistani heritage—systematically raped and exploited thousands of vulnerable White girls, often viewing them as “easy meat” or racially/religiously inferior. Authorities hesitated for years, fearing “racism” labels. This wasn’t mere criminality; it carried clear ethnic, cultural, and supremacist dimensions—racist in targeting White victims as lesser, and sexist in the degrading treatment of girls and women.

Mowing down revelers at a Christmas market because they represent infidel joy, or grooming and assaulting White girls under beliefs of religious or racial superiority, fits the definition of bigotry. If roles were reversed, the media and activists would label it unequivocally. Why the double standard when the victims are the generous hosts and their daughters?

Time for Reciprocity and Realism

Generosity without boundaries isn’t compassion—it’s suicide. White-majority nations aren’t obligated to import populations that refuse reciprocity on religious freedom, women’s rights, or secular governance. High-trust societies built on Enlightenment values, individual rights, and (often) Christian heritage erode under incompatible supremacist ideologies.

Infidelophobia manifests in:

• One-way demands for accommodation.

• Violence against cultural symbols and people seen as outsiders.

• Ideological rejection of integration in favor of parallel societies or eventual dominance.

We need a real talk—not censored by fear of “phobia” smears. Prioritize assimilation, enforce borders, demand mutual respect, and protect the cultural majority’s right to exist without apology. White people, as a global minority, have extended the hand. The response shouldn’t be a fist—or worse.

• This isn’t hatred; it’s pattern recognition and self-preservation. Ignoring Infidelophobia dishonors victims and dooms the West’s experiment in openness. The conversation needs to start yesterday.

Gay men engage in bug chasing and gift giving for a mix of dark reasons: relief from the constant anxiety of possibly catching it (”just get it over with”); the erotic thrill of extreme risk and taboo; a twisted sense of identity completion (”HIV is part of being fully gay”); power dynamics and submission in the “gifting” ritual; trauma, self-loathing, and self-destruction; and the hedonistic freedom of raw sex afterward without barriers. Some see it as embracing the virus as a permanent mark of belonging.

While PrEP has helped some avoid it, the fetish persists in niche online scenes — Breeding.zone, BarebackRT, certain Grindr profiles flashing “biohazard” tattoos or “poz only/gift giver/convert me” bios, Telegram groups, and darker corners of X. Gift givers sometimes go off their meds to spike their viral load for effective transmission. Chasers get the “gift,” complete the ritual, and join the poz club.

These people don’t just harm themselves. Taxpayers are burdened with the lifelong treatments that keep them alive and prowling. HIV treatment is expensive — often $30,000–$60,000+ per person per year. Thanks to government programs like Ryan White, ADAP, Medicaid, and others, taxpayers foot most of the bill for hundreds of thousands of cases, the majority tied to MSM transmission. Over $2.6 billion annually for Ryan White alone. Intentional spreaders and chasers add to the pool of lifelong dependents on public assistance.

The gay community largely stays silent. No major Pride organizers condemn it. No widespread shaming from influencers or activists. They treat it as a quirky kink at worst, or defend “sexual autonomy” while demanding society pay for the consequences.

SB 239 in California, pushed hard by Scott Wiener, downgraded intentional HIV transmission from a felony to a misdemeanor. Official line: “modernize outdated laws” and reduce stigma. But in practice, it removes real deterrents for those who want to play Russian roulette with other people’s health. Coincidence? Or protection for the subculture?

This isn’t “inclusivity.” It’s enabling pathology. Pride parades celebrate “diversity,” but ignore how a vocal, self-destructive minority drags down public health and costs everyone else. Until the broader community calls this sickness what it is — instead of pretending every behavior is sacred — the dark side will keep festering under the rainbow flag.
