Questions on the physics of the flat earth, the social rules imposed on us by the Controllers, or the fight for our souls in this spiritual war. Is there more land beyond the ice wall? Did the Old World harvest free energy from the Ether? Or even darker inquiries into human-trafficking and sacrificial rituals.

There is an important reason to take the opportunity to attend Flat Earth Meetups. Being amongst flat earthers and truthers allows us to be open, authentic, and genuinely ourselves. It is as much an exchange of research as it is nourishing for the soul to be in good company.

At Flat Earth Meetups, there is no masking required to conform, as many of us may find ourselves doing in our work or personal life. We may even be worn out by arguments from those, deep in their indoctrination, who aggressively defend the globe, unwilling to take the slightest look at Flat Earth research. Or worse, being entirely rejected and alienated from friends and family.

We’ve all had this experience in some form or another because the truth is a hard pill to swallow. So, the joy of coming together is a reprieve from those difficult debates to consolation in open communication with others, like you and me, willing to ask tough questions.

Event Recap

On Saturday, August 8th, 2026, Truthers from across the country came together on a beautiful summer afternoon in Stamford, CT. The event was organized by David Weiss, a Connecticut native whose endless energy and wit have spread the Flat Earth message and earned him the nickname “Flat Earth Dave,” and the TikTok sensation Cody from @theStageFE2.0.

The event drew truthers from across Connecticut and beyond. A woman from Ohio was on her annual road trip and decided to stop by. A friendly couple drove 5 hours from New Hampshire. Others poured in from the surrounding tri-state area, from New York City to its scattered upstate suburbs.

Shaded by a large, aged Oak tree protecting us from the summer heat, a table with a Flat Earth banner, leaflets, and information drew in the curious passerby. “Are you a Flat Earther?” they’d ask. “Why does it even matter?” and conversation opened that hopefully planted a seed.

We spent hours at the park. Conversations were engaging, while @thestageFE2.0 hosted a live stream for his viewers. To recap, some of the topics discussed:

The Controllers mock us with their CGI imagery of Earth as a globe floating in black space, void of stars the graphic designers forgot to add. In the latest NASA hoax - the Artemis moon mission - the Earth features a subliminal goat with horns hidden in the swirling clouds over blue waters.

Spiritual Warfare

If discussing Flat Earth with Globers is difficult, the concept that we are living amongst a spiritual war is nearly impossible to convey. To reply to the question, “Why does it even matter if the Earth is flat?” with the response, “Because we are at a war for our souls” is not well-received.

I don’t entirely understand it myself, but the concept has validity. Things like the fear during the Plandemic and 9-11, or the immense sorrow cultivated around the Charlie Kirk assassination. The deleterious display of opulence and debauchery during mega sports events. This energy has power. Where is it going? What is it used for?

Harvesting Loosh

Is Loosh something that Truthers should be concerned with? Loosh is an esoteric concept that the emotional energy of humans and animals can be harvested.

Bali Demon Festival

Do the Balinese people know something that we don’t? Since the 1980s, Bali has hosted a demonic celebration which includes a parade of elaborate demons that ends with a fall of silence. It is said the demons underground come to Earth for that one day while people stay in their homes.

Pay Close Attention to Disclosure and Predictive Programming

Predictive Programming is when mainstream media, through pop culture and the news, groom the population to accept the next manufactured crisis or disaster. For example, movies about planes hitting a building come out years before 9-11. Sci-fi dramas of a killer virus prep the minds of the masses before the Plandemic.

Then there is Disclosure, which is more nuanced. Disclosure is when the Controllers reveal the hoax but in a subversive way. There are laws in this realm that I don’t entirely understand, but Disclosure relates to the idea that if the Controllers show what they are doing and the masses go along with it, then the Controllers are free of the moral consequences of being deceitful because the masses have consented.

What Brought You to Flat Earth?

The personal stories from others are the most special. These are the stories we’ll never find in any social media feed. They are the journey of Truthers - people like you and me - who woke up due to their courage. Oftentimes these stories are accompanied by pain and loss that forced an awakening. For some, it was the obviousness of the laws of nature that we can’t be on a spinning ball. For others, it was walking along Christ that led them to Flat Earth.

The stories I hear, the journeys people are on, the questions they have, remind me that I’m not alone - and neither are you.

My Lunch Break

If you haven’t yet come across the YouTube Channel My Lunch Break, it’s for the whole family to watch. He does a great job of dissecting the mainstream narratives and historical records around the most beautiful buildings in the world. Some are right in your own backyard or a nearby city.

Bible Recommendation

You don’t have to be a Christian to be a Flat Earther, but it’s undeniable that the Bible is a telling resource for describing the true cosmos of our level and stationary earth. It wasn’t in school that I learned anything about President Kennedy’s assassination. Nor was it from the news. It was from reading an incredible historical account of the sinister role the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has played in shaping US and world politics since its inception.

The book that holds such importance to my research is The Devil’s Chessboard: Allen Dulles, the CIA, and the Rise of America’s Secret Government by historian David Talbot.

Kennedy’s Story: The Assassination of a US President

For those who might not know much about Kennedy’s assassination, here are some important points to consider:

President John F. Kennedy was elected president of the United States in 1960. He was young and handsome, married to the charming and beloved First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. Together, they brought energy and hope to the American people. His good looks alone defied the stalwart, aging institutional dominance of the existing Deep State. His ideology challenged the banks, foreign war machine, anti-communist hysteria, and big business.

On the fateful day of November 22, 1963, in the city of Dallas, on Elm Street, in celebration of a political motorcade through Dealey Plaza, the President of the United States was murdered in broad daylight.

The mainstream narrative claims a lone, crazed gunman named Lee Harvey Oswald was the perpetrator. The Warren Report, the government-sponsored investigation, claimed the same story, despite immediate evidence presenting, without a doubt, the involvement of co-conspirators.

As the truth unfolds, it is more likely that the assassination of a sitting president was more than just a multilayered conspiracy; but a coup d’état, conjured up by the CIA, the mob, and others with big business and government ties.

The Deep State Has Names

A Deep State runs this country; we describe it as a shadow government with nameless, unknown elites at the helm. What David Talbot in The Devil’s Chessboard makes painfully clear is that many of these Deep State figures are not as anonymous as we think.

Time and time again, the truth is in plain sight. All it takes is a little reading.

We all know about career politicians but embedded deeper into the American institutional machinery are career bureaucrats. These are the unelected department heads and employees on the State’s payroll.

The most insidious of these individuals mock the elected leaders they are supposed to follow. Elected officials have an expiration date for their term, while bureaucrats reign with continuity out of public view.

Seething beneath the US Government’s outward display of American democracy are secret intelligence agencies. These agencies were formed with the intent to protect American interests but have turned into rogue agencies that blackmail and push an agenda that suit the personal ideologies of the individual men who run them and favor financiers from banking and big business who line their deep pockets.

The Strong Arm of the Deep State: The CIA

I could not be more deeply disappointed or disturbed by the power grabs of the CIA in shaping American society and the world economy. The CIA has a track record of defying presidential directives, particularly those of President Kennedy, to pursue secret operations and power grabs that benefit the agency and its beneficiaries.

The American people are trained to believe there are checks and balances to power in our American Republic, to prevent any overly powerful individual or ideology from taking hold. However, the covert agency of the CIA is given a blank check with US taxpayer money to pursue its own unfettered “top secret” business.

The CIA was founded in the 1940s post-WWII by spymasters with an anti-communist craze and Nazi alliances. It specialized in blackmail and trained hitmen and assassins both on the US payroll and through direct ties with mobsters. It is the agency that funded disturbing psychological research on torture, drugs, and MK Ultra mind control, and went into foreign countries to overthrow democratically elected leaders who did not align with multinational corporate interests.

There is strong evidence that the CIA is the same agency that administered a coup on American soil in the Kennedy assassination, under the pretense, arrogance, and power-drunk leadership of one man: Allen Dulles.

Allen Dulles was the longest-standing director of the CIA, serving from 1953 to 1961. When JFK cast Dulles from his official role, his tenure of leadership was not interrupted. Like a ghoul that gains new life after death, Dulles led from the shadows, truly embodying the Deep State machinery that haunts this nation.

The CIA under the directive of Allen Dulles has a running list of interferences in world affairs:

• From the gruesome murder of Patrice Lumumba in the Congo

• To the attempted undermining of Charles de Gaulle in France,

• To striking down the first democratically elected leader of Iran and paying crowds to cheer for the installed puppet ruler, the Shah

• From Guatemala to Cuba

The pattern becomes unmistakable.

These operations were driven by an insatiable, Machiavellian, power-hungry male ego, obsessed with dominance, secrecy, money, sex, and legacy.

There is too much evidence pointing to the assassination of President Kennedy as an inside job. Just like these other world leaders, Kennedy was pushing back on big business and showed a pro-labor affection. He looked for peace agreements instead of military intervention. He was young. He challenged the egos of the established older men who felt entitled to their rule.

In the fraudulent Warren Report, for which Dulles was slyly appointed head of the commission to investigate the Kennedy assassination, Dulles carefully controlled the narrative fed to the public with his mainstream media moles.

Still to this day, the fake news puts before the public Lee Harvey Oswald’s mug shot as the crazed lone shooter responsible for Kennedy’s demise.

It begs the question: Is the news today just a bunch of carefully crafted narratives vetted by the CIA?

Bureaucrats Motivated by Arrogance, Power, and Sexual Prowess

It’s hard not to take away from this book a harsh criticism of the male psyche. The main protagonists of The Devil’s Chessboard are all men. Fifty years of US history are recounted, and women are portrayed only as wives, secretaries, daughters, and mistresses.

The occasional highlight is a mischievous woman clever enough to make a sly move to transport materials, money, or information, but always in subservience to the spymasters, never a character of power on her own.

The sheer arrogance of these spymasters, politicians, mobsters, and businessmen leads them to take any means necessary to secure wealth and power, all driven by the want for power, money, sexual prowess, and legacy. This book could be used as a strong case as to why more women need to be in positions of power and influence, purely to keep in check the deranged male ego.

Looking at the sheer destruction and chaos left in their wake, and using US taxpayers as pawns to fund their “top secret” government missions, these men are to blame for much of the political and social instability we see across the known world.

We want names, and David Talbot in The Devil’s Chessboard gives them to us.

Folks came from Westchester County, New York City, upstate from the Binghamton area, across the river in Rockland County, across the state of Connecticut, and new travelers from Pennsylvania.

To break bread and give a toast alongside truthers who have the courage to break free from the mainstream psychosis and see the truth of our stationary realm is nourishment for the soul.

There were those who had been on the Flat Earth Journey for a decade, many who woke up during the Plandemic years, and one whom was recently introduced to it.

What I love most about these events is the diversity of representation amongst truthers - people of varying ages, ethnicities, economic and educational backgrounds. Yet, we all shared a profound commonality.

As one attendee stated, “You are all the smartest people I know!”

What was discussed?

Conversations ran the gamut from exploring the science of the firmament to the recent Artemis moon mission hoax, which turned out to be an advertisement for the hyper-processed spread Nutella.

For many, living in truth also means living in faith. One gentleman had purchased a copy of an old Bible written in Old English and shared what he had enjoyed from the book.

Austin Witsit, the host of the YouTube channel Witsit Gets It, was mentioned as one of the few outspoken critics of NASA’s privatized counterpart, SpaceX.

When you are awake to the truth of our stationary level realm, it often means many other conspiracies become verifiable truths, such as that all too ill-fated day of September 11th, 2001.

Was the plane a hologram? How does a building free-fall when hit from above? What about the mysterious collapse of Building 7? One attendee’s visit to Washington, D.C. made her realize that a plane flying low into the Pentagon was a near impossibility. Was the damage we saw that day all from an Energy Weapon?

Politicians and figureheads are held captive to a ruling class blackmailed by perversive acts involving pedophilia and human trafficking.

Artificial Intelligence apps are now released to the public. How is AI being used against us? What other technology could be unbeknownst to the masses if this level of sophistication is now available to the public?

The point is that once we open our eyes to the truth, we see how many major world events are a hoax. Where does that leave us in this war with Iran, or hyper-inflation and soaring gas prices?

A point that struck me was that one person recollected seeing the moon landings in her youth, then it not crossing her mind for decades until the birth of YouTube and revisiting those same reels. Thanks to YouTube, we have been able to bring this footage into the light of public scrutiny.

In all seriousness, it was questioned, “Why haven’t the rulers totally squashed the Flat Earth movement?” While this is a central truth to our lives, and there are many more waking up - more than ever. Flat Earth is still a self-policed ostracized position that if openly shared can even jeopardized ones social life or career. So the answer is, they don’t need to.

Even though it’s now become acceptable amongst polite society to question the original moon landings as fake, those same people cannot yet open their eyes to more present-day sorcery.

We examined ornate decorations, columns, and façade patterns. Sacred geometry proposes that shapes encode resonance and frequency—prompting us to ask: What role did these designs play in ancient buildings? Could they have harvested free energy from the ether?

One challenge truth-seekers face is that reliable information is nearly impossible to find with a standard Internet search. This meetup provided a space to exchange hard-to-obtain knowledge and resources.

The Value of Being Awake

When talking with friends and family, should our goal be to proclaim truth? Or is it more effective to shed light on inconsistencies that ignite curiosity?

Curiosity is an itch the ego must scratch, making it the best way to inspire others to undertake their own investigation into the greatest deception of all time—where we live.

Belief in the globe is a mental virus, deeply ingrained through repetition and reinforcement. Most people instinctively resist the working flat earth model, often defaulting to questions like:

• "Where is the edge?"

• "How does the Sun go around a flat world?"

• “Why would they lie?”

To break free from this mental trance, the mind must be presented with inconsistencies that challenge their existing framework.

A reasonable question skeptics ask is, "If the Earth is flat, then where is the edge?" The truth is—we don’t know. And that’s because we’re not allowed to find out.

In the late 1940s, U.S. Admiral Richard E. Byrd went on national television and revealed that there is more land beyond Antarctica—land that is now off-limits to exploration. Shortly after his statements, world governments signed the Antarctic Treaty, restricting independent investigation.

I know that I will eventually be met with the question, “But why the lie?”—often asked more as a defense of their globe prison than as a genuine inquiry into the truth. And that’s okay.

It takes time for the mental shackles to melt away. By sharing these videos, I trust the itch of curiosity in them will only grow.

There is but one problem. It’s a farce.

The education system raises children in heliocentrism, claiming the Sun is at the center of the cosmos and our Earth revolves around it. Our Sun is said to be one of countless suns in an ever-expanding universe, a lonely universe where Earth might be the only life.

All of this is said to have begun 13.8 billion years ago in a phenomena called the “Big Bang,” upon which existence supposedly arose from nothing and evolved over eons into the complexity of life we enjoy today.

To say on one’s birthday, “Another trip around the Sun,” is to align one’s worldview with heliocentrism. Saying this to children perpetuates a fallacious perspective.

On the contrary, it is the Sun that moves over us.

The Sun is one of two great luminaries in the sky, with the Moon being the other. The stars are the lesser luminaries. The Sun sheds life-giving light upon the Earth.

Here is a more accurate representation of the rotation of these heavenly bodies:

The Earth is not a globoid planet floating in empty space. In fact, the Earth is not round at all. The Earth is a vast, level plane - immovable and stationary.

The Two Great Luminaries Mark the Passage of Time

The Sun—and the Moon for that matter—move above us. The Earth is a stationary level plane upon which celestial bodies move in perfect harmony, a divine timepiece in the sky.

So, at the next birthday celebration, honor the Sun and Moon and how they mark time by telling loved ones:

“Congratulations! Another turn under the Sun.”

Because beyond reaffirming our adoration for those we cherish, we are also perpetuating truth—the recognition of the stationary, level world we live in.

As I continue shaping its direction, I’ve been reflecting on the name—how it represents the heart of what I write about and the clarity I hope to bring to these discussions.

That’s why I’m considering a name change.

Attracting Unwanted Debate

The challenge with the current name is that it tends to set certain expectations—ones that might not fully align with the discussions I wish to foster. While the foundation of my observations remains rooted in exploring natural law and direct experience, the name has sometimes attracted debates I’d rather not prioritize—arguments based on rigid textbook science rather than open and direct observation.

A name change could help shift a focus on the guiding principles behind my writing:

🔹 Exploring truth in plain sight

I want this Substack to be about reveling in the beauty of this world—through observation, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of natural order. Just as important, I explore how we nurture young minds to be independent thinkers who trust their senses and question falsified narratives presented to them.

As the current head of the Department of Government Efficient (DOGE) under President Donald Trump, Musk is commissioned with cutting wasteful government spending.

Cleaning Up Government Spending

Trump is delivering on his campaign promise to voters. The US National Debt is over $37 trillion.1 It’s not even a month into President Trump’s second term and Musk and the DOGE have already identified several areas of wasteful spending.

Highlights

• The $40 billion budget for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is under investigation for wasteful spending abroad, including DEI initiatives and transgender programs.

• Musk threatens to audit the Federal Reserve saying the central bank is not above public scrutiny.

• Exposing a bloated budget for the Environmental Protection Agency with $7 billion alone going to the Climate United Fund.

• Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) issued over $59 million in payouts to high-end hotels in New York City to house illegal immigrants.

• Halting payouts to over $300 billion in programs whose directives have expired.

These efforts are admirable and are most certainly needed, yet one begs the question…

In 2024 NASA’s budget was $27.2 billion dollars.

How do you feel about Elon Musk’s efforts in the White House?

Did you know the speed of sound moves at 760 mph? This means the Earth would be spinning faster than the speed of sound. Yet, you nor I (nor anyone) perceives any such motion.

But we do experience the joy of a 15 mph cool breeze on a hot day and the terror of a 50 mph rattling wind on a stormy night.

Not only that, but the Earth is said to be whirling around the Sun at 66,000 mph and dragged along the Milky Way at half a million miles per hour. Plus, the entire galactic experience is rushing at an unfathomable one million miles per hour.

My head is spinning just thinking about it. Fortunately, my feet are firmly planted on stationary ground.

Does any of that make sense?

To find clarity in truth takes curiosity on how this world worlds and the courage to look. As parents it is even more formidable that we persevere through the misconceptions to better raise our children to be sovereign thinkers.

Fortunately, it doesn’t take much. Just a bit of understanding of Natural Law and a little common sense.

Natural Laws Governs Air Pressure

The air we breathe is a mix of gases and water vapor. The air we breathe is also pressurized and pressurized air cannot exist adjacent to a void.

Gas needs a container to have pressure and nature relegates that high pressure must move to low pressure filling up all available space until equilibrium is reached. This is the universal law of the property of air.

In the globe model, air would be sucked into empty space per Natural Law. The gas we breathe would escape our world as quickly as carbonation leaves a cracked soda can.

But it doesn’t. The air we breathe is reliably with us at just the right pressure.

Important Note: I find it important to refrain from using the term ‘atmosphere’ when referring to the air we breathe. The term atmosphere elicits the imagery of a gaseous layer around a spherical earth. The generic term ‘air’ is used to reference the gaseous layer we breathe.

Then takes a deep dive into the properties of air, including how gas molecules take the shape of their container and quickly exit that container if not stopped by a physical barrier.

The beginning of this episode provides a refresh on the natural sciences that govern our world which will enhance your own understanding. The more you learn, the better you are at explaining to the friends, family, and kids that come along in your life how things actually work on our stationary Earth.

As your child’s mind grasps the logical concepts presented in this episode of Science Max help him or her place this knowledge into the larger context of our stationary, non-rotating, level Earth.

They will come to their own logical conclusion that a physical barrier is what contains the air of our realm. This is not an absurdity to a child but a logic conclusion based on direct observation of the Natural Law that governs the properties of air.

Chapter Five: The True Earth

Still sitting over the edge of Sparkle Lake, the two dragons, Durga and Maya, continued their banter about the nature of their world.

"Do you recall how we looked at how water seeks to be level?" Durga asked the little dragon. Maya nodded in agreement. "That means water can't curve around a globe, especially one that's spinning." Maya continued to nod, but gestured to encourage Durga to get to the point. Maya loved how inquisitive her big dragon friend was, but hurriedly wanted to return to her play.

"Water, just like air, needs a container to hold it in,” Durga explained. Maya rolled her eyes. She might have been young, but she wasn’t clueless.

“Did you know that Antartica is the highest land in all the world?” Durga interjected. A new fun fact always caught Maya’s attention.

Pointing to the Gleason’s Map in her hands, Durga said, “This map shows that the oceans are contained by the Great Antarctic Ice Wall." Durga took her claw and encircled the entire map showing Maya exactly where the Ice Wall was.

"I see," said Maya. "Like the edge of a giant bathtub!" Her remark made both dragons bellow with laughter.

"But how does the Earth go around the Sun and the Moon if the land on the Earth is level?" Maya asked with sincere interest.

"Well, it doesn't. The Earth is stationary, and the Sun and Moon move over us," Durga explained. “Just like how we experience it.”

Durga checked to see that Maya was following. She found she was quite attentive, which meant Maya must have been interested, otherwise the little dragon would have returned to playing by now.

Taking the opportunity while she had Maya’s attention, Durga continued: “The Sun and Moon wagon wheel across the sky bringing night and day to different parts of the Earth. They are often on opposite sides of the Earth plane.”

“The Earth plane? You mean like a big machine that flies in the sky?” Maya asked with excitement.

"No, a plane is another way to describe a level surface. All the land is laid out on a level plane.” Durga explained, then realized another point. “Most of the world is water anyway and large bodies of water, like lakes, ponds, and oceans, seek to be level.” Not letting herself get too distracted by this simple realization, Durga kept to answering Maya’s question about the movement of the Sun and the Moon.

“Anyway,” Durga said and shook it off. “It's said that the Earth is spinning really fast, but I just don't feel it.”

“However, if the Earth is a level plane like it shows on this map, and stationary as we experience everyday life, then what we see in the sky is correct," Durga explained.

Maya gave Durga a little nod to suggest that a clarification of the point was needed. “What we see in the sky is the Sun and Moon moving over us,” Durga chimed in.

It was Maya’s turn to make sense of this curious map. She squinted in close and took a moment to scan it. “Ah ha!” she exclaimed, seeming to find what she was looking for. “The North Pole is at the center of this map, but where abouts is the South Pole?" she asked.

"Well, there isn't one.” Durga figured. “Since the Earth is a level plane, there isn’t a top and bottom. On the level Earth, North points to the inner or center part of the map and South points to the outer edges of the map, moving us towards the Ice Wall.”

Maya placed her hands on her hips. Her curiosity was piqued and so was her skepticism. Durga didn’t usually play games on her because she didn’t like them played on herself. However, with all this news Maya wanted to make sure. She looked from the map to her big Dragon friend and scanned Durga for signs of tomfoolery. To her delight, Maya saw Durga’s genuine nature shine through.

After another moment, Maya asked with frustration, "Why doesn't anyone talk about this Ice Wall?" Maya didn’t like being left out on things. Since she was younger she often found things out last and thought this might be one of them.

Durga glanced around, then lowered her voice. "Because nobody is allowed to go there. All the kingdoms of the world signed a treaty banning the exploration of Antarctica."

Maya went wide-eyed at this news and Durga continued. She said, "The treaty went into effect after Admiral Richard Byrd, a famous military explorer, returned from an expedition and announced throughout all the kingdom there was more land beyond the South yet to be explored." 

"Why would they agree to that?" Maya asked, puzzled. "Don’t all the kingdoms hate each other? There is always so much war."

"Exactly," Durga said, her eyes twinkling. "That's what's so strange about it."

Maya caught a dragonfly, but it quickly escaped through the gaps in her little claws. Muttering to herself she kicked up some pebbles in frustration and said, "Of all things to agree upon, that is what they picked. How silly!" Disappointed by this news, she returned to play in the grass.

The firefly danced near Maya's nose, and she swatted it away, deep in thought. "Do you think maybe they are hiding something?" Maya asked.

Durga nodded and replied, "More land possibly, beyond the Ice Wall. Land that no one's ever seen."

"More land!" Maya exclaimed, almost falling off her perch. "But everything has been discovered. Maybe there are extra-terrestrials out there," she mused, glancing up at the sky. "But that's about it."

"That's it!" Durga cried, startling both Maya and the firefly.

"What?" The little Dragon replied with some perturbance for being distracted while this time trying to balance with one foot upon a small pebble. "What’s it?" Maya asked again as she spun around and nearly lost her balance.

"Extra-terrestrial. 'Extra' means more and 'terra' means land," Durga said excitedly. "Maybe there is more land beyond the ice wall, just like Admiral Byrd said. You're brilliant, little dragon!" Durga said, giving Maya a pat on the back and she certainly fell off the pebble that time.

Plopped to the ground, Maya claimed, “If there's more land, then the Earth must be a really big globe."

Durga rolled her eyes. "No, Maya. We don't live on a spinning globe. Water remains level. The Sun and Moon are close to us. All the stars rotate around the North Star. It's plain to see. The sky moves, not us. Plus, we have this map that says so!"

Maya thought for a moment, taking it all in. She recalled a time with her Uncle Drake. He was a grand warrior dragon that flew high in the sky protecting the village. Maya loved the tales and dangerous adventures that Uncle Drake would return with. She loved her uncle. He was a fierce dragon, fiery red, with sharp claws and a long tail with spikes. He was strong, brave, and well-respected by the other dragons in the community.

When he returned from his last mission, Uncle Drake told Maya that he had flown to the top of the sky. With curiosity and admiration, Maya had asked if he had seen the curve of the Earth. To her surprise, Uncle Drake crouched down to little Maya and whispered in her ear. “Want to know a secret?” he had asked. Maya nodded. “There is no curve. It’s as flat as a pancake.” Maya didn’t think much more of it that day. She was just delighted to see her uncle.

"But why the lie?" Maya asked, her mind swirling with new thoughts.

The two dragons took a seat at the rock ledge as the final drifts of Sunlight pulled away. Durga spoke softly. "Imagine it,” she said. “This would be one special place to know that the Earth is at the center of Creation."

"Wow! That's a powerful thought," Maya replied, her eyes wide with wonder.

They both paused in momentary reflection, awakening to a truth that they hadn’t given much thought to before, but seemed so obvious now.

In a nudging, curious tone, "Can we go to the Ice Wall?" Maya asked.

"Sure. But we'll have to go another day. It's getting late. The Sun is setting," Durga said.

"You mean the Sun is moving away from us," Maya clarified.

I guess the little dragon was paying attention after all, Durga thought. She was proud to call Maya her friend.

"Yes, you're right, little dragon, and it will return tomorrow."

Chapter Four: The Gleason’s Map

Even though Durga was a young dragon, she was as persistent as she was insightful. The evening sky quickly shifted to night, and more stars soon appeared. She sat slumped, with her elbow on her knee and chin in her claw. She still held the old parchment, trying to recall what she had learned about the Earth.

Finally, it came to her. A broad smile appeared on Durga's face as she stretched her wings wide and stood tall. A wind gust spread, and she announced, “I think that might be the point!”

"What might be the point?" Maya said, startled by the grandiosity of her dragon friend.

"That we don't think about it. What if it's not true?" Durga proposed.

"What's not true?" Maya asked, with a bit of frustration and confusion.

"That we live on a spinning globe," Durga said obviously.

Durga turned her gaze towards the parchment she held. With a squinted brow and an intense look, she examined the page.

Maya noticed the parchment for the first time and asked, "Hey, what you got there?"

"Oh, this?" Durga said, looking up. "I found it while rummaging through Old Dragon’s library. It's a map. It's called the Gleason's Map. I find it very curious. It says it's accurate and true."

"Well, shouldn't all maps be accurate and true? Otherwise, they wouldn't be much use." Maya laughed in self-amusement, imagining someone getting lost using an inaccurate map and not understanding why they were lost.

"Yes, of course," Durga agreed. "But this map shows all the continents of the world on a level plane, not a round globe."

"Neat! Where are we?" Maya asked excitedly.

"We are here," Durga said, showing her North America.

“That looks kind of small. I’m used to seeing North America look much bigger on the map and look how small Greenland is.”

“Yes, I noticed that too,” replied Durga. “I think it’s because when you take this accurate map and stretch it over a round globe, it makes the land in the North look all spread out and a lot bigger than it actually is.”

“Hey, this map looks a bit like the United Nations map,” Maya exclaimed.

“You’re right, Maya! Good eye.” Durga said, complimenting her little friend.

It was moments like this that Durga appreciated her little dragon friend, despite her being younger. The United Nations is a convening of world governments, that promotes globalism by encouraging international cooperation and addressing issues that affect the entire world. Oddly, their logo most certainly resembled this Gleason’s map.

"But what's that?" Maya pointed to the edge of the map. All of the lands of the world were centered on the map and surrounded by the great oceans, but a new land feature appeared that Maya wasn't familiar with. It showed land covered in ice surrounding the whole world.

"That's the Ice Wall," Durga said.

"The what?" Maya asked and scratched her head.

Chapter Three: Things Just Don’t Add Up

Before Durga could reply, a small acorn fell from a large oak tree nearby. It knocked Maya on the head and startled her. Fortunately, dragon scales are tough. Maya rubbed the spot and shook it off, prompting another question from Durga.

Durga started on, "The other dragons say things fall because a force called gravity pulls them down," and paused there. "What if there was a simpler reason? Like heavy things fall because they are heavier."

Durga caught herself in this circular reasoning, so elaborated, “I mean, things fall that are denser than air. For example, that acorn fell, not because an invisible force pulled it down, but rather the acorn is clearly more dense and heavier than the air.” She was pleased with her reasoning.

Maya shot a small flame towards the little bug that, at this point, she realized was teasing her by eluding being caught. The tiny flame just missed it and hit a rock. Having felt the heat on its fragile wings, the bug was unhappy with Maya’s aggressive play. Maya apologized to the little critter after realizing her folly. Smoke floated up from the spot where the flame made contact with the rock, sizzling a few dried leaves, turning them to dust that wafted upward.

Durga saw this and said, “I’m supposed to believe that gravity can choose when to pull things down and choose when to let things rise?” Shaking her head, she continued, “Maybe light things rise because they are light and less dense. Simple.“

Durga realized Maya wasn't paying much attention to her again and called her over. Maya gladly came over and sat beside her friend. "Take a look at this lake,” she instructed.

They stared over the water. With a gentle elbow into Durga’s side, Maya asked, “So what am I looking at?”

“Maya, water doesn't curve over land,” Durga replied. “It remains level, just like Sparkle Lake. There is no lake in the world that curves.”

"Wow, you got a lot on your mind, Durga," Maya said, then muttered to herself, "Sorry I asked." She rolled her eyes as she rolled over and wandered away again.

Unphased by Maya's disinterest, Durga continued to ponder aloud. "Have you ever noticed all the stars rotate around Polaris? Polaris is the North Star. The brightest star in the sky." Maya stopped and looked up. "No, I haven't. How amazing!"

Durga looked up at the sky with a troubled gaze. "But how can this be if we're spinning in space and passing millions of stars each night?"

While bouncing on her tail, Maya replied, "Oh, I heard something about how it takes light years for the light of distant stars to reach Earth."

"Remind me, what a light year is?" asked Durga.

"A light year is the distance light travels in one year. Nothing travels faster than the speed of light,” replied Maya and she spread her youngling wings and tried to zip back and forth showing Durga just how fast.

Durga replied, "That sounds pretty far.”

“Yes, it is,” Maya said. “It’s over 5,000,000,000 miles away.”

Impressed, Durga inquired, “Where did you learn that?"

"From one of the children’s books at the library, of course,” Maya said.

In a skeptical tone, Durga retorted, "I'm supposed to believe that you need glasses to read the words on a page, but our eyes can see stars that are trillions of miles away?”

Maya pulled out a pair of oversized spectacles. Her little claws propped the lenses up as they slid down her nose. "You have a point. I never really thought about it."
