What does the Word of God say?

2. What does the Spirit of God say?

3. What does wisdom say?

After examining Candace Owens’s words, methods, conduct, and influence throughout this series, Stephen applies all three tests and brings the biblical case to its conclusion.

This episode is about more than one political commentator. We are living in an age when podcasters, influencers, prophets, teachers, and media personalities can shape the convictions of millions. Christians must learn how to test the voices they allow to influence them—without being controlled by charisma, popularity, emotion, political loyalty, or claims of divine leading.

The church cannot afford to be “tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine.” We must speak the truth in love, grow into maturity in Christ, and reject, resist, and expose what stands contrary to God’s Word.

Become a Partner

Become a Paid Subscriber

📺 Watch the complete *Examining Candace Owens* series here: https://stephenpowell907.substack.com/podcast

➡️ Read the final article, “How to Discern Good from Evil in the Age of Influencers”:
<div class="digest-post-embed" data-attrs="{"nodeId":"3fad237a-4d3f-4467-8b1c-a3f368d54e97","caption":"THESIS There are three distinct levels of discernment that Christians can use to evaluate the leaders, ministries, messages, and influential voices they allow into their lives: What does the Word say? ministries, messages, and influential voices they allow into their lives: What does the Word say? What does the Spirit say? And what does wisdom say? When these three tests are rightly applied—in harmony with one another—they provide a strong biblical framework for discerning what is true, what is godly, and what is worthy of our trust. In this final article, we will apply this framework to Candace Owens and the movement she represents, bringing this series to its conclusion while establishing a practical standard of discernment that Christians can use when evaluating any influential voice they encounter.

INTRODUCTION

“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

- Isaiah 5:20

Throughout this series, I believe we have clearly seen what happens when a person comes under the influence of evil spirits, when their conscience becomes seared, when their life becomes characterized by speaking lies in hypocrisy, and when they begin to call that which is evil good, and that which is good evil (1 Tim. 4:1–2; Isa. 5:20). The Bible warns us that deception will grow worse and worse as evil men and impostors deceive and are deceived (2 Tim. 3:13). As Christians, we must therefore remain grounded in the faith and guard our hearts against such spiritual trends, regardless of how normalized they become in society. What is good and acceptable to God is revealed through His Word, and by that standard much of what is being normalized in our modern world must be rejected, resisted, and exposed for what it truly is.

In this final article, I want to turn our attention from simply exposing these things to answering an important practical question: How can Christians discern good from evil in a world filled with powerful influencers, podcasters, ministries, movements, and competing voices? I believe Scripture gives us a framework that can help us answer that question through three levels of discernment: What does the Word say? What does the Spirit say? And what does wisdom say?

As we apply these three tests to Candace Owens and reflect on this series as a whole, my hope is not merely to complete the case I have been making concerning her influence, but to give Christians a framework they can continue using long after this series is over. We must learn to test the voices we allow to influence us so that we are no longer “tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting”; we must “speak the truth in love,” and “grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ” (Eph. 4:14–15).

THREE LEVELS OF DISCERNMENT FOR EVERY MINISTRY AND MESSAGE

A few years ago, after going through some incredible difficulty and hardship due to some of my own foolish words and actions, I entered a season where I studied the wisdom of God for a prolonged period of time. For years, all I read in my private devotional time was the wisdom books of the Bible such as Psalms, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes. I also memorized a new Scripture from one of these books every week, using three by five cards from which I recited the Scriptures out loud daily to commit them to memory and hide them in my heart (Ps. 119:11). It was at that time, during that season of being immersed in the wisdom of God, that I believe I received a word from the Lord about three levels of discernment which I still use in my life today. Here are the three levels:

What does the Word say?

What does the Spirit say?

What does Wisdom say?

I’ve mainly used this framework in helping me make major life decisions over the last several years, but it can be used for a number of purposes in a number of situations, whenever it’s appropriate.

When evaluating influential people, along with their messages and impact, I think this framework is very helpful. This framework is useful for evaluating people and their influence Biblically, spiritually, and according to wisdom, and today I will use these levels of discernment to make my final case against Candace Owens and the movement she represents.

It’s important to clarify that I’m not presenting the Word, the Spirit, and wisdom as three competing or independent authorities. Scripture is our normative standard for truth. The Holy Spirit illuminates the Word and leads, convicts, and guides us in harmony with it. And godly wisdom helps us rightly understand and apply the truth of God’s Word and the leading of His Spirit to the circumstances of life. These three work together in harmony, never in contradiction.

The first two levels come naturally to sincere Christians. Most Christians accept that the Word of God, namely the Bible, has a special place of authority and guidance in their lives (Ps. 119:105). Most Christians also accept that the Holy Spirit has been sent by God to aid us, guide us, and help us in this life as well (Jn. 14:26). But in my experience, many Christians neglect this third level of discernment, which is godly wisdom. In this final article of our series, we’re going to carefully apply each of these levels of discernment to Candace Owens and the woke movement she helps to lead, not neglecting any of them, for each is very important for testing the fruit of a ministry or movement.

WHAT DOES THE WORD SAY?

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”

- 2 Timothy 3:16

Simply put, most of this series has been devoted to simply pointing out what Candace Owens has said and done the last few years, and measuring her words and actions in the light of Scripture. In Articles 1-2, we laid a foundation by simply providing an abundance of quotes, citations, and references that established exactly what Candace Owens and people like her have been saying and doing for many years. Then, starting in Article 3, we began to evaluate these words and behaviors using the standard of Scripture.

We clearly saw that Candace and people like her have made a career out of trafficking in lies, falsehoods, half-truths, and outright deception. We exposed some of the most deceptive tactics that people like her use to convince millions of people that unfounded conspiracy theories are reality. We saw how Candace Owens and other members of the woke movement on the left and the right have introduced dangerous rhetoric and implications through their podcasts, while cleverly avoiding responsibility for doing it.

When exposing these “tactics of woke influencers” with the light of Scripture, we clearly saw the gnostic tendency in people like Candace Owens to traffic in “hidden and secret knowledge”. This causes her cult following to stay trapped in a state of “always learning, while never actually coming to the knowledge of the truth” (2 Tim. 3:7).

In the last few articles, we’ve seen clearly that Candace Owen’s entire platform has been built through abominable sinful behavior that God consistently condemns in His Word (Prov.6: 16-19). Sins like slander, ungodly division, attacking innocent people, taking advantage of vulnerable people (such as widows) in their vulnerable state, greed, and pride have become the very lifeblood of her surging online empire.

People will continue to twist God’s word to their advantage, in an attempt to white wash Candace’s sins, and convince others that God is with Candace and endorses what she’s been doing. But for those who are of sound doctrine, led by the Spirit, and have been tempered with wisdom, it is clear that her sin cannot be mistaken for moral courage or godly conviction. Her audience capture and clever marketing cannot and will not be mistaken for “just trying to find the truth”. Her ungodly and merciless campaign against a grieving widow cannot and will not be confused with “exposing evil”. Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter (Is. 5:20)! The Word of God is clear when it comes to Candace Owens and people like her. God condemns her rhetoric and is against what she’s doing.

WHAT DOES THE SPIRIT SAY?

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”

- John 14:26

One of the ways we know that it is indeed the Holy Spirit leading us is that the Spirit helps us to walk in the light of God’s word (Ps. 119:105). The Spirit reminds us of the words Jesus has spoken, and helps us to heed and obey them (Jn. 14:26).

Because the Holy Spirit is the Spirit who inspired the Word (2 Pet. 1:20–21), the Spirit and the Word will never work against one another. The Spirit and the Word are one. They will never contradict each other. They will never lead you astray.

This is why we know that if the Spirit is leading us to do something or say something that is expressly forbidden in God’s word, that it is not God’s Spirit at all leading us. We’re commanded in Scripture to “not believe every spirit, but to test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world” (1 Jn. 4:1). How do we test the spirits? By examining their influence in the light of Scripture (Gal. 1:8; 1 Jn. 4:2-3). And I would add to that my other level of discernment as well: use the word of wisdom, which is always in harmony with Scripture, when testing the spirits. We’ll talk more about this in the next section.

The Holy Spirit will also use the manifestation of the Spirit, through the gifts of the Spirit, in the life of the believer to direct them, warn them, or give them special words at pivotal times in their lives (1 Cor. 12:1-11). These words don’t constitute special revelations that rise to the authority of Scripture. They simply serve as an ongoing aspect of the Holy Spirit’s ministry to the Church that works in harmony with the Word. This is what Jesus told us He would provide in place of His earthly ministry after He returned to the Father. He promised the ongoing ministry of the Holy Spirit to help lead us and guide us as the Church (Jn. 14:15-18), and as the Scripture says, we should seek this ministry and earnestly desire these gifts in our lives (1 Cor. 12:31).

As I stated before, I believe with all my heart that the Holy Spirit has led me to write this series on Candace Owens, and that the Holy Spirit has confirmed to me time and time again the things I’ve shared with conviction in this series. But as Scripture says, let each one be fully persuaded in their own minds, for whatsoever is not of faith is sin (Rom. 14:5,23).

As we pray through things and seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance, and as we meditate the Word of God and seek to understand his wisdom and his ways, we must be fully persuaded ourselves and move forward in faith, while striving to live in obedience to God. We’ll make mistakes, sure. No one is perfect. But I believe as we follow this divine order given to us in Scripture that God will lead us in the way everlasting (Ps. 139:24). He will lead us by His Spirit!

I am fully persuaded in my own heart and mind that Candace Owens is in open rebellion to God, that she is reckless and dangerous, and that she has led many people into the darkness of lies, deceit, and falsehood. I’m fully convinced that the Word of God makes this clear, and that the Holy Spirit has led me to these conclusions as He’s worked in my life as the Spirit of Truth (Jn. 16:13). But are you fully persuaded? Do you have confidence that this is the truth which I’m speaking? If not, I encourage you to pray more about this and ask for the Holy Spirit’s conviction and confirmation. As you call upon him, I believe He will help you. I believe He will lead you into all truth.

If this writing is helping bring clarity to these issues, consider becoming a paid subscriber to support continued biblical teaching and analysis.

Become a Paid Subscriber

WHAT DOES WISDOM SAY?

The Bible is true. It contains the Word of God, but the reason there are presently thousands of different Christian denominations/rites is largely due to the fact that Christians disagree on how to interpret the Bible, and interpretation is very important.

Every denomination or branch of Christianity believes that the Holy Spirit has blessed and affirmed their unique practice of the faith. Every Christian sect likes to believe that the Spirit of God is uniquely leading them, but how can this be? I think there’s a number of reasons, including that God likes diversity of expression, some are being led more rightly than others, and yes, that some are not being led by the Spirit at all and are being led astray.

Growing up in the Pentecostal/Charismatic Church, I’ve always heard the saying, “If you have the Word without the Spirit, you dry up. If you have the Spirit without the Word, you blow up. But if you have the Word and the Spirit, you grow up.” For most of my life, I’ve tried to live by that principle, endeavoring to always give equal weight and credence to the Word of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit in my life. But up until just a few years ago, I never paid much attention to the unique role that wisdom should play in my life, and how essential this gift from God is in evaluating the ministry of both the Word and the Spirit in my life.

The truth is, some of the greatest atrocities in human history have been committed by religious people citing sacred texts, claiming to be divinely led. Some of the greatest mistakes that have been made in the Church have been made by people who had a Biblical doctrine for what they were doing and who felt they were being led by the Spirit, but lacked the word of wisdom to help them sort through their doctrinal and spiritual convictions.

Wisdom, similar to natural law as revealed through God’s creation (Rom. 1–2), is self-evident through its fruit. Wisdom is justified by her children (Matt. 11:19; Luke 7:35). Its principles reveal themselves in every walk of life because those who discover and practice them reap their benefits, whether they recognize their ultimate source in God or not. Wisdom finds its way into high places and loudly proclaims the truth it carries for many to see and hear (Prov. 8:2). It works its way into every sector of society and every path of life, because its proven fruit and success testify to its truth for those who have eyes to see it.

Wisdom helps us to see the working of God and the true nature of our beliefs and practices. It helps us to honestly and dispassionately evaluate whether what we have believed and been convinced by is truly from God.

If we do not wisely handle the power of Scripture, and wisely manage the leading of the Spirit, understanding the natural human limitations that we all clearly possess, we can cause great damage in our own lives and the lives of others that we influence and lead. Remember, Satan knows the Scripture well and is skilled at quoting it to people from many different backgrounds, to draw them away in temptation (Matt. 4:1-11). It is essential to apply God’s Word correctly, be led of the Spirit, and use godly wisdom when evaluating influential people and platforms today as well, lest we open ourselves up to spirits and forces that would lead us away from Christ.

Throughout this series, I’ve made it clear that God’s Word condemns nearly every aspect of the life and ministry of Candace Owens as she’s presently constructed it and exported it to the world for massive influence and personal gain. Along the way, I’ve been extremely grieved and disturbed by many of the words and actions of Candace Owens and people like her, and when I’ve looked to the Scriptures to see what disturbs and grieves God, its led me to believe that some of what I’ve felt concerning Candace Owens is not my own exclusive feelings. I’ve come to believe that God has given me his heart in this matter, and that the grief I’ve felt has been the Holy Spirit’s own grieving, which He has graciously shared with me as a child of God (Eph. 4:30). And I also believe that the word of wisdom clearly reveals the sad case of Candace Owens, and gives us clear direction on how to handle influencers like her moving forward.

SAFETY IN COUNSEL

“Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.”

- Proverbs 11:14

“Without counsel, plans go awry, but in the multitude of counselors they are established.”

- Proverbs 15:22

“For by wise counsel you will wage your own war, and in a multitude of counselors there is safety.”

- Proverbs 24:6

Candace Owens and her ministry are very dangerous for a number of reasons, but one of those reasons is that there is little public evidence that she has a multitude (or diversity) of counselors in her life, which Scripture counsels us all to have. Based on the evidence, we can confidently infer that she makes no effort to listen to and be open to other people that think differently than she, who can challenge her in a healthy way on her beliefs.

Andrew Wilson had to put up three hundred thousand dollars just to get in the same room with her, to challenge her on her most consequential claims from her public investigation of Charlie Kirk and his murder.1 And in that setting, none of her important claims held up under scrutiny and challenge. Let me repeat that . . . Candace Owens was not able to defend or prove any of her most important claims in her debate with Andrew Wilson. Yet, after being watched by millions, an enormous number of people still came away believing that Candace won this debate which took place on August 14, 2026. That’s how lost we are as a people currently. Truth no longer matters. Facts no longer matter. For millions of people who hold the future of the Western world in their hands democratically, it’s all about feelings and vibes. God have mercy on us!

But a sure sign that someone has been enriched through wisdom is that they have prudently allowed their positions to be challenged by others in good faith. A wise person that is receiving good counsel will have their most consequential claims steel-manned, so they can soundly defend their position. Oftentimes, a position that cannot be adequately defended has not been sufficiently challenged, and a position that has not been sufficiently challenged is a weak position. This is the first thing that exposes her foolishness for those who have eyes to see and have learned wisdom.

FOOLISH RECKLESS SPEECH

“Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues.”

- Proverbs 17:28 - NIV

“A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.”

- Proverbs 29:11 - KJV

“A fool vents all his feelings, but a wise man holds them back.”

- Proverbs 29:11 - NKJV

As I stated earlier in this article, one of the things that led me to pursue wisdom and give myself to learning it and applying it in my life was the price I paid for foolish and reckless things I did. In my experience, we learn the most important lessons in life after we’ve suffered (Heb. 5:8). So what does it mean when someone like Candace Owens keeps being rewarded by this world for her increasingly reckless and foolish speech? To me, it means that any reward she’s receiving as a result of her words and behavior is not a result of God’s blessing and favor. It also means that she is completely empty of godly wisdom on this matter. If she had even a modicum of wisdom concerning these things, she would not violate this most basic wisdom principle on a daily basis.

This is not my opinion. This is not the opinion of a man. This is God’s opinion. God’s Word clearly tells us that reckless speech, uttering all your mind, and venting your feelings for all the world to hear every day is not the conduct of a wise person (Prov. 17:28; 29:11). It is the conduct of a fool. Because words are powerful, it is the fruit of dangerous folly. Candace says so many words for so many to hear, therefore the danger and damage is multiplied exponentially because of her influence and leadership in our world.

For this level of discernment, I’ve only mentioned two ways to test the wisdom of one’s ministry or person, and as you can see, Candace clearly fails both. The only thing that one might argue is that she is wise in a worldly sense with how she markets herself, and how she succeeds according to the standards of this world. But that kind of wisdom is only good for those who live for this present life, and who do not live ready to meet the Lord at the judgment (Matt. 24:44; Heb. 9:27). In light of eternity, in light of Scripture, any wisdom that damages one’s soul in exchange for momentary pleasure or prestige is not godly wisdom at all. It is blindness. It is a curse.

CONCLUSION

When applied to woke influencers like Candace Owens, I believe these tests of discernment clearly reveal what she is and to whom she belongs. Although I’m careful not to decide on the eternal state of someone’s soul, I do try to know someone by their fruit, as Jesus commanded (Matt. 7:15-20). And I think it’s clear that the fruit of Candace Owen’s life and ministry reveals that she is an enemy of the gospel and the Word of God. It reveals that she is not being led by the Holy Spirit, and that she lacks godly wisdom in her life.

As I’ve said throughout this series, these writings are not just about Candace Owens. Candace is simply a powerful case study and example that God is using in our day. I believe the Lord has allowed her to be exalted during this season, so that He might reveal himself through her and provide a clear warning to others who would wrap themselves up in the same spirit of this age (Rom. 9:17). I believe Candace is also a token of a greater spiritual rot that continues to eat away not only at the United States and American culture, but the Western world at large.

So let this be a warning to those who have eyes to see and ears to hear. Do not be overtaken by this rot. Do not allow this rot to take hold in your mind and soul, like it has in so many today. Let this be a warning to all that can hear. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good (Rom. 12:21).

Candace Owens is a precious child of God whom Jesus died to save. But the same could be said about the Pharisees who opposed the Lord; men whom Jesus called a brood of vipers and white-washed tombs (Matt. 23:27,33). Just because God loves someone does not mean He approves of what they are saying and doing. In God’s love, He will confront his children and challenge them with the truth of Scripture. May the power of God’s love reach people like Candace Owens in their darkened state. But until she is reached, and until she repents and turns from her wicked ways, the Word of God is clear what we as faithful believers must do. We must mark and avoid her (Rom. 16:17), expose the evil that she is wrapped up in (Eph. 5:11), and continue to hope and pray that those who have been led astray by this woke movement would be delivered and saved by God’s grace (1 Cor. 9:22).

Whatever voice rises next, test it by the Word, test it by the Spirit, and test it by wisdom. Through searching the Scriptures, seeking the Holy Spirit’s guidance in prayer, and wisely testing all things, I believe you will not be led astray. Your path will be the Lord’s, your way will be narrow and straight (Matt. 7:14), and you will dwell in the house of the Lord forever! (Ps. 23:6)

If this article has helped bring clarity to these issues, consider becoming a paid subscriber to support continued biblical teaching and analysis.

Become a Paid Subscriber

1

Bet-David, Patrick, host. “Candace Owens vs. Andrew Wilson: The Charlie Kirk Debate.” PBD Podcast, 14 Aug. 2026.

How Does the Bible Describe True Feminine Beauty?

Candace Owens is undeniably beautiful, talented, charismatic, and extraordinarily powerful.

Stephen Powell

Candace Owens is undeniably beautiful, talented, charismatic, and extraordinarily powerful. But biblical power is never autonomous. It operates under God’s authority and manifests itself through the fruit of the Spirit.

In this episode, we examine the biblical picture of godly authority and contrast it with the contentious or “brawling” woman described in Proverbs. We also look at reports and examples of Candace Owens becoming a source of conflict within marriages and families, the broader question of whether modern feminism has actually made women happier, and the seriousness of directing a massive public platform against a grieving widow.

We’ll also consider a larger question:

What happens when influence that could be used to build, nurture, and strengthen becomes a weapon for accusation, strife, and destruction?

This episode is not an argument that women should be powerless or silent. It is an argument that all power—male or female—must remain submitted to the authority of God and governed by His Word.

If these teachings are helping you, consider becoming a monthly ministry partner or paid subscriber. itself through the fruit of the Spirit. When feminine power rebels against that authority, it becomes contentious and destructive. Candace Owens provides a contemporary case study of that corrupted feminine power through her public brawling, contributing to division within homes, and ultimately turning her considerable influence against a grieving widow.

INTRODUCTION

In our previous article, we talked about how sin is not unique to one gender over another, but that men and women are uniquely created, which in turn makes them uniquely targeted in different ways by the enemy. We went through several of Paul’s pastoral epistles and identified several commands and exhortations specifically given to women, designed by God to help them not be “turned away to follow Satan” (1 Tim. 5:13).

In today’s article, we’re going to finish our discussion on issues that are unique to women that the case of Candace Owens highlights in the modern world. Once again, we’re going to go back to the beginning to discuss God’s creative order and how authority and power works in His kingdom. And we’re going to see clearly how women like Candace Owens have rebelled against this divine order, and as a result have caused immeasurable damage to other women, marriages, families, and society at large.

As I’ve stated before, I will state once again here today. My goal in writing articles like these is not to unfairly single out women like Candace Owens. The issues she’s come to represent are carried by society at large currently. But as Scripture teaches, God allows some influential figures at certain times in history to both rise and fall for all to see, so that God may reveal Himself through them (Rom. 9:17). I believe Candace is such a figure. Her rise has been both meteoric and historic, but her end will be great destruction if she stays on the path she’s on and doesn’t repent (Phil. 3:19), and she will not be the only casualty of this movement of sin and slander online. This is why we the church must speak out and expose this destructive path for others to see, hoping that the light of God’s Word will bring freedom and deliverance for all it shines upon through written works like these.

So, let’s begin our discussion today by talking about godly authority and power from the beginning. And from there we will discuss the difference between godly feminine power and satanic toxic feminine power that people like Candace Owens are trafficking in today.

GOD’S AUTHORITY AND POWER FROM THE BEGINNING

In the kingdom, power cannot exist without authority. Authority gives you the right and the ability to exercise power (Lk. 9:1-2).

The supreme authority in God’s kingdom is his Word. The evidence of this is how God Himself interacts with and submits himself to His own Word. God binds Himself to His Word (Ps. 138:2; Titus 1:2; Heb. 6:18). He cannot lie, contradict Himself, or act contrary to what He has spoken. His power will never operate in contradiction to His Word because His Word is the expression of His own nature, will, and authority.

God’s Word is therefore the supreme standard by which all authority and power must be judged. If someone’s power is not operating under the authority of God’s Word, then it’s not coming from God. It’s coming from somewhere or something else.

Throughout this entire series I believe I’ve clearly shown in each article how Candace is not operating under the authority or authorization of God’s Word. She’s built a very large and lucrative enterprise out of directly violating God’s scriptural commands on a daily basis, yet her power and influence seems to grow more every day. Why? There’s another spirit at work here.

Some say that people like Candace Owens almost single-handedly snuffed out the revival that was sweeping the nation after Charlie Kirk’s murder and split the MAGA coalition.1 At this point, her power and influence are undeniable, but because her power is clearly not operating under the Lord’s authority, I’ve come to believe that much of her power and influence is coming from the demonic.

GODLY FEMININE POWER

According to Scripture, a godly woman who is submitted to the Lord, her husband, and the teachings of Christ has a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God (1 Pet. 3:4). I know this will deeply offend anyone who is too immersed in the religion of modern liberalism to have their conscience pricked by the power of God’s Word anymore, but it must still be preached nonetheless.

God doesn’t want women to always be silent, contrary to what some biblical scholars think and teach. But it is the fruit of godly femininity when a woman doesn’t have to be loud and boisterous in order to be powerful and fulfill her unique purpose. And I would say the same goes for any wise mature child of God.

The Bible says, “Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues” (Prov. 17:28). The Bible also tells us that, “a fool vents all his feelings, but a wise man holds them back” (Prov. 29:11).

The pride and toxic femininity that women like Candace Owens operate in blinds them to such treasured truths and virtues. The world doesn’t need more foolish women venting all their feelings every day to millions of people, spewing unwholesome words which leads to ungodliness. The world doesn’t need people like Candace Owens stirring up envy, strife, and evil suspicions (1 Tim. 6:3-5). The world needs men and women who play their role, who are fully submitted to Christ and His Word, and who resist the spiritual power that has saturated our culture with the rebellion of radical feminism, which is as the sin of witchcraft (1 Sam. 15:23).

Candace Owens is undeniably a physically beautiful and remarkably talented woman. Her gifts are obvious, her charisma unquestionable, and her ability to command an audience extraordinary. That is precisely what makes her story so tragic. Scripture teaches that feminine beauty that is most precious in the sight of God is not outward beauty, but the hidden person of the heart—the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit (1 Pet. 3:4). By that standard, the image of feminine power Candace increasingly projects is not beautiful at all.

Like all of God’s children, women are to use their power under control. Women are to be powerful, but under authority. A woman’s words and deeds should flow from the fruit of the Spirit. Their greatest weaknesses should be recognized and resisted, while their greatest strengths and features should bloom and blossom from whom God has created them to be. Unfortunately, women like Candace Owens have come to embody the worst aspects of toxic femininity today, that cause incredible destruction and disorder.

WOMEN WHO BRAWL, FIGHT, AND CAUSE DIVISION

“It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.”

- Proverbs 21:9; 25:24 - KJV

The Hebrew word translated brawling in these verses is מִדְיָנִים (miḏyānîm), a term associated with strife and contention. Its use throughout Proverbs conveys the idea of quarrelsomeness, discord, and ongoing contention rather than merely a single disagreement.2

Now contrast this with how the Bible describes a godly woman, as we’ve just talked about in (1 Pet. 3:2-4). The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Gal. 5:22-23). The Bible says how good and pleasant it is for God’s people to dwell together in unity (Ps. 133:1).

Now in contrast, the Bible also says that there are some battles worth fighting, and that we should fight those battles with faith (1 Tim. 6:12). But there’s a difference between fighting necessary spiritual, personal, or cultural battles in faith, versus being of a haughty destructive spirit that engages in ungodly brawling, contention, and division that does not serve a good and godly purpose. In this way, Scripture is not condemning courage, disagreement, confrontation, or even righteous conflict. Scripture is condemning a contentious disposition—a person for whom conflict becomes a way of life.

In the case of Candace Owens and other women like her, it has become clear to those that have biblical discernment that she is quarrelsome, and has made constant conflict and contention her way of life. It has become clear that she engages in daily digital bloodsport for personal gain, despite the negative impact it has on others.

Candace is a divisive woman who has been on a destructive rampage for years. And because these things are spiritual; because they are beyond the material, any man or woman who submits themselves to her influence (either knowingly or unknowingly) opens themselves up to bearing this same kind of fruit and operating in the same spirit. They run the risk of bringing this same kind of division and contention into their home.

If this writing is helping bring clarity to these issues, consider becoming a paid subscriber to support continued biblical teaching and analysis.

Become a Paid Subscriber

WHEN CONTENTION ENTERS THE HOME

Recently, Christian Apologist Frank Turek read a letter on his show from a desperate husband who had written into his ministry. In the letter, the husband expressed the strain that his marriage has come under due to Candace Owens’ influence on his wife. This man’s wife has become convinced of a number of unfounded conspiracy theories that Candace has been spreading through her show, which has led her to believe a lot of crazy things, including that Frank Turek is a false teacher and is involved in a vast criminal network.3

Candace responded to the letter on her own show by playing the clip where Frank reads this letter outloud, mocking it, and making jokes about it.4 But is it a laughing matter? Is Candace Owens causing ungodly division in people’s homes and families, and not just in the conservative movement?

At a minimum, the evidence before us demonstrates that her influence has contributed to serious division in some homes. I have personally encountered this same phenomenon, which is what led to me writing this series to begin with.

The Bible says, “what God has joined together, let not man separate” (Matt. 19:6; Mark 10:9). Do I blame this kind of division and destruction that continues to happen in marriages and families today solely on individuals like Candace Owens? Not totally. But as we discussed in Article 8 of this series, Scripture teaches that responsibility for bloodshed can extend beyond the person who ultimately wields the weapon (2 Sam. 12:9; 1 Kings 21:19). We saw there how reckless rhetoric and false accusations can place innocent people in danger.5 In the same way, Candace bears a degree of moral responsibility for the damage her influence causes in marriages and families when she recklessly uses her considerable power to spread suspicion, accusation, and division.

There is an authority and an order that God established from the beginning, and our society has increasingly rebelled against both. Influencers like Candace Owens are ultimately a product of the Jezebelic influence and power that has been unleashed in our culture. She is embodying and imparting the enemy’s ethos, playing her part in the next stage of the toxic feminist revolution in our world. And the fruit will continue to be the same: the further erosion of marriage and the family, followed inevitably by the weakening of every other essential institution built upon them.

THE FRUIT OF FEMINIST LIBERATION

For generations, women have been told that liberation from traditional roles and societal structures would produce greater freedom, fulfillment, and happiness for them. Yet there is evidence that this promised flourishing has not materialized as simply as its advocates have claimed.

Rachel Wilson, author of Occult Feminism: The Secret History of Women’s Liberation, has pointed to “The Paradox of Declining Female Happiness”, a study examining women’s reported well-being beginning in the 1970s and across subsequent decades.6 Discussing the study, Wilson noted that despite the enormous social, economic, and cultural changes women experienced during this period, women later reported being “less fulfilled, less happy, and less content.” This has led Wilson, along with many others, to simply conclude that feminism hasn’t made women happier.7

This should cause us to question the story we have been told, and return to the wisdom of Scripture which has been time-tested for thousands of years. The Bible warns us that rejecting God’s authority does not ultimately produce liberation; it produces bondage. When men and women reject the order and boundaries God has established for their good, the fruit of that rebellion eventually becomes evident. Modern feminism promised to liberate women, but its legacy has included tremendous upheaval within marriage, the family, relations between men and women, and even our understanding of what it means to be a woman.

But the issue runs deeper than whether someone personally identifies as a feminist. The spirit of rebellion that feminism helped normalize can remain even after the feminist label has been discarded. A woman may reject feminism intellectually while still embracing a vision of feminine power characterized by pride, self-exaltation, contention, accusation, and rebellion against godly authority.

And this is what makes the case of Candace Owens so striking. Candace publicly rejects the feminist label and presents herself as a defender of marriage, motherhood, family, and traditional womanhood. Yet the kind of feminine power she increasingly displays bears many of the very characteristics Scripture warns against: pride, contention, strife, accusation, division, and the tearing down of others.

In other words, the brand may be anti-feminist, while the fruit looks remarkably like the toxic feminine power that radical feminism has unleashed.

WHAT CANDACE OWENS REPRESENTS

“What Candace is actually doing is decidedly toxic femininity in all the worst, most disgusting ways. . The brand is anti-feminist. The product is pure toxic femininity to its core. The brand is real women honor men, family, and tradition. The product is one dominant, high-profile woman’s public, sustained, monetized, toxically catty destruction of her so-called best friend’s widow.”8

- Jeremy Boreing

Boreing puts his finger on the contradiction I’m highlighting here today. Candace Owens may reject the feminist label, but rejecting the label does not necessarily mean rejecting its fruit. A woman can publicly champion marriage, motherhood, family, and traditional values while simultaneously exercising her influence in ways that are contentious, destructive, and contrary to the biblical vision of godly femininity.

This is why the issue is ultimately much bigger than Candace Owens. Throughout this article, we have contrasted two very different kinds of feminine power. Godly feminine power operates under the authority of God, bears the fruit of the Spirit, builds up what God has established, and exercises strength with wisdom and self-control. Corrupted feminine power, by contrast, rebels against authority, feeds on contention, tears down others, and increasingly treats domination itself as strength.

Candace has tragically become a powerful contemporary example of this contradiction. She possesses extraordinary influence, intelligence, charisma, and communication skills. Yet instead of consistently using those gifts to cultivate peace, truth, justice, and godly order, she has increasingly built a public brand around accusation, suspicion, conflict, and what I’ve described as digital bloodsport. The very woman who publicly celebrates marriage and family has contributed to division within homes. The woman who rejects feminism has come to embody some of its ugliest expressions of rebellious feminine power.

But perhaps nowhere is this contradiction more clearly displayed than in her treatment of Erika Kirk.

For generations, feminism claimed to be a movement concerned with protecting and empowering women. Yet here we find an enormously powerful woman directing the force of her platform toward another woman at perhaps the most vulnerable moment of her life. Instead of extending compassion toward a grieving widow, Candace has unfairly attacked her at every turn and subjected her every action and decision to extraordinary public suspicion and scrutiny before an audience of millions. Candace has engaged in what Jeremy Boreing has called “the worst public act of defamation in U.S. history” as she’s continued to mercilessly attack Erika Kirk and the organization her husband Charlie left behind.9

And this brings us to one of the clearest biblical tests of power: What does the powerful person do with the vulnerable?

Scripture has a great deal to say about that question—especially when the vulnerable person is a widow.

GOD’S HEART FOR THE WIDOW

Throughout history and still today, there truly are people that are weak, vulnerable, and in need of special care and protection. Among those people have always been children, the elderly, and women. Among women there are varying degrees of weakness and vulnerability, depending on the situation they find themselves in. Women, for instance, who have lost their husbands are uniquely weak, vulnerable, and exposed. Therefore God’s Word gives them special attention and provides special warnings for those who seek to exploit them or do them harm.

In (Ex. 22:22-24), God explicitly condemns the mistreatment of widows. In (Ps. 68:5), God calls himself the “protector of widows”. In (Ja. 1:27), the church is called to visit widows in their affliction and minister to them in their weakness. And in (Deut. 27:19) and (Is. 1:17) God talks about justice for the widow. He commands us to seek justice for the widow, to plead the widow’s cause, and we are told that anyone who perverts the justice of the widow will be cursed.

So as you can see from Scripture, the mistreatment and exploitation of widows in their vulnerable state is a serious matter to the Lord. What strikes me about the attack and exploitation of Erika Kirk in her darkest hour by Candace Owens is how much it shows the folly of radical feminism. This case once again illustrates the folly of this movement that has promised to protect and empower women while rejecting the divine order God established for their flourishing. The bitter irony is that the corrupted vision of feminine power that this movement helped unleash has ultimately been turned against women themselves.

Here, then, the contrast between godly feminine power and corrupted feminine power reaches its clearest expression. God directs strength toward the protection of the vulnerable. Corrupted power exploits vulnerability for its own evil purposes.

CONCLUSION

Some of my most cherished memories are of moments when the women in my life provided me with their distinct feminine loving and nurturing care. Whether it was the time my mother came running to me on the road when I, as a child, fell off my bike and got my leg caught in the spokes, or when my wife comforted me recently after I lost a close family member. I, like millions of others, have experienced time and time again the love and tender care that is specially imparted through a lovely woman that is flourishing in her godly femininity.

When women like Candace Owens allow the iniquity and rebellion of modern day feminism to twist them into the very tools of Satan, both men and women suffer as a result. Instead of that tender loving care and compassion that should come from a woman of God, we get a constant barrage of hatred, jealousy, and malice coming from women like Candace Owens. When much of the world prayed for and wept with the widow of Charlie Kirk in solidarity, Candace began preparing her most explosive documentary yet, to go after this vulnerable woman who was grieving. This is not the “women fighting for women” slogan you’ve been force-fed for generations. This is not women helping women. This is women becoming something God never intended them to be. This is the sad case of Candace Owens, showing the folly of satanic feminism and what it has come to.

That concludes today’s article. Next week, we will close out our series on examining Candace Owens and her influence in the light of Scripture by discussing ways that we can rightly discern and stay free from some of the evil forces that are at work in our world today. We’re in the midst of a major transition and a time of shaking in the earth that is ushering in a new era for the world. But by God’s grace, through the power of His Spirit, we will test all things and hold fast to that which is good (1 Thes. 5:21). We believe the gifts of the Spirit are for today. We believe God still heals, delivers, speaks, and moves supernaturally. So this conversation isn’t about dismissing everything we don’t understand as fake or demonic. In fact, we wrestle with a much harder question:

**What if some of the supernatural experiences are real?**

Can God genuinely touch someone through a deeply flawed vessel? Can someone cast out demons and still be leading people into serious error? Can supernatural power come from another spirit? And how does Scripture actually tell us to discern the difference?

We also examine Kathryn Krick’s relationship with her spiritual father, Geor Davie, the teaching of apostolic covering, spiritual fathers and mothers, unquestioned loyalty to leaders, allegations of manipulation and abuse, and whether these systems are actually producing the kind of dangerous spiritual hierarchy that the Protestant church should have left behind.

And one of the most important conclusions of this conversation is this: **a miracle by itself does not prove that a messenger is trustworthy.**

Jesus told us to examine fruit. Scripture tells us to test the spirits, test prophecy, examine doctrine, and even warns us that real signs and wonders can accompany those who lead people away from the truth.

So how should Spirit-filled Christians respond when there appears to be real power—but there are also serious biblical red flags?

That’s what we’re going to wrestle with today with Josh Lewis and Michael Miller from The Remnant Radio. I pray this is a blessing to you!

Support The Ministry

If these teachings are helping you, consider becoming a monthly ministry partner or paid subscriber. When extraordinary accusations are made against people, governments, and institutions, feelings, intuition, anonymous claims, and speculation are not enough. Serious accusations require serious evidence.

We look at several key moments from the debate, including:

• Candace’s claims concerning Israel and France
• Andrew Wilson’s repeated demand for “positive evidence”
• The difference between saying “I think” something and making a serious factual accusation
• Candace’s appeals to feelings and intuition
• Her claims concerning Erika Kirk
• The evidence surrounding the Charlie Kirk assassination
• Debate tactics, shifting definitions, and accountability
• The biblical standard for establishing serious accusations
• Why Christians especially should care about truth, evidence, and responsible speech

This debate matters far beyond determining who “won.” It provides an opportunity to examine how claims should actually be tested—and whether we are allowing loyalty to personalities, emotions, or conspiracy narratives to replace evidence and truth.

Watch the reaction and decide for yourself.

Support The Ministry

If these teachings are helping you, consider becoming a monthly ministry partner or paid subscriber.
