Today we shipped upgrades to video Jams: a searchable transcript, video chapters, timeline previews and redesigned captions.

Search the transcript for an exact moment

Video Jams recorded with your mic on now have a Transcript tab. Search for a word you remember and click it. The video jumps right to that moment, so no more playing and waiting.

Skim the timeline, jump to a topic

Jams are now broken into titled chapters so you can see what’s in the Jam before you play it. Audio is helpful, but Jam can also segment based on pages visited, console errors, clicks and other identified actions.

Hover anywhere on the timeline to see a preview frame and the chapter it belongs to.

Read along in any language

Captions follow the speaker in whatever language they’re speaking, lighting up one word at a time so it’s easier to keep your place. And if they’re ever sitting over something you need to see, just grab and drag ‘em!

Until now, Jam MCP and the Jam CLI exposed a Jam as text. Agents could inspect available console logs and network requests, read the voiceover transcript, and use an AI-generated summary of the recording. They just couldn’t see the screen.

How getFrames helps:

• QA: Give an agent a reproduction and let it confirm what appears on screen.

• Code review: Pair a code change with a recorded user flow, so the agent can review the behavior alongside the diff.

• Product walkthroughs: Hand an agent a recorded demo and get a written walkthrough of the flow.

• Design review: Point at the exact moment where it stops matching the design and ask why.

How it works

Use this sample Jam to test getFrames for yourself!

1. Overview grid

Creating an overview is the best place to start when you don’t know exactly when something went wrong. You get back a single image: 6 frames for a short clip up to 16 for a long one, scaled to the recording’s length, with each cell labeled by its timestamp (m:ss). The agent reads the whole flow at a glance, then picks where to look closely.

Try:

Here’s a Jam, but I don’t know where the problem is. 
Get an overview of the recording and tell me where the UI looks broken.

2. Exact moments

Provide the timestamps you want using at, and getFrames returns the corresponding frames.

Try:

Show me the frames at 14s and 17s and tell me what changed between them.

3. A time window

Give a start and end time plus how many frames you want, and Jam spreads them evenly across the range.

Try:

Something breaks between 10s and 15s. 
Pull 5 frames across that range and find the moment it happens.

Returned frames include a t=<ms> timestamp, so you can line up the visual state with the console errors or network requests from the same moment.

You can also choose the resolution (360p, 720p, or 1080p) depending on whether you want more visual detail or a smaller context window.

Prompting it

You don’t need to name the tool if you are unsure of the best mode. In Jam MCP, ask in plain language and the agent will pick for you. For example, leave a comment on your Jam and add this to your prompt:

Inspect the frames around my comment. 
Describe what changed on screen and flag anything that looks visually broken.

Use it in automations with the CLI

For scripts and automations, the same three modes are available through a single command in the Jam CLI. The CLI writes the resulting JPEG files to a directory:

# Overview grid — a good first call for understanding the recording
jam get frames <id> --overview

# Exact moments
jam get frames <id> --at 21000,23000

# An evenly spaced time window
jam get frames <id> --from 10000 --to 15000 --count 5

Use --size small|medium|large to set the frame height, and --out <dir> to choose where the files are written. The default directory is ./jam-frames/<id> .

What’s next

Today, the overview grid samples frames at evenly spaced intervals. For example, six frames from a one-minute recording means one frame every ten seconds, regardless of whether the screen stayed unchanged or something important happened between samples.

Next, we want to introduce smarter sampling that selects frames based on meaningful visual changes and skips periods where nothing happens, ensuring that every frame in the overview adds value to the analysis.

We also want to support sub-second precision before relying on individual frames to diagnose pixel-level glitches.

Issues can go from report to fix without a human managing each step. Here’s how: Push a Jam to an Agent through Jam MCP, prompt it to write a fix, and open a PR. Consider adding an evaluation step so the Agent only takes issues that fit, and routes the rest to a teammate.

Choose to share in content-only mode when your audience doesn’t need the dev details. Now you can send a standalone screen recording with a customer or a teammate.

Explain issues using markdown

Lists, code blocks, bolded text and more: share issue details in a format your developers already use everywhere else.

Make room for what you’re investigating

Resize the DevTools panel to match what you’re digging into. Expand it to explore logs or collapse it to focus on the screen recording.

Jump to supporting urls

Every url visited while recording is indexed right there in the Jam. No more copying and pasting links; your team can click into the moment you visited each page.

Click to copy a ready-built prompt. Claude, Codex, Cursor and other AI agents will need fewer cycles to fix issues when your prompt includes a Jam. More on Jam MCP.

Today, we shipped picture-in-picture controls for Recording Links.

Users don’t need to remember which browser tab they’re recording from. The picture-in-picture menu is always visible so they can stop and submit their Jam from wherever they are…no matter how many tabs they have open 🙈

Here’s what else shipped:

Your customers can unblur fields when needed

Jam provides default blur controls so you can avoid collecting sensitive data. But those controls shouldn’t stop your customers from interacting with their own data while recording a Jam. Now they can:

1. Privately unblur sensitive fields

2. Edit their sensitive data

3. Blur again and resume the recording

Customer notes now flow straight into Intercom

Notes submitted with a Jam now land in the Intercom chat, so support agents don't have to go digging for them. Customer context shows up right where your team is already working.

1. Record from any browser type

Customers don’t all use the same browser. Starting today, Jam works across all of them. Send a Jam request and your customers can record from Chromium, Safari, and Firefox browsers.

2. Send to Slack

If you’re using Intercom’s Slack integration, your team can request a Jam from Intercom, and your customer will get the recording link right there in Slack.

3. Personalize your messaging

Now you can customize the message that goes with every request for Jam. So anytime you need one, your team asks within the right context of the conversation.

4. Blur sensitive info by default

Customers who record their screen may share more than they intend. Now you can automatically blur sensitive data so that you don’t have to worry about what you are collecting. To get started with auto-blur, read our docs.

5. Route Jams to the right folder automatically

The more Jams you record, the harder it becomes to find them later. Starting today, you can assign a folder so that any Jam your customers record is routed to an easy to find place. Bonus: we added filters to your dashboard to make searching for Jams easier, too.

6. Send recording links from your own domain

Now you can customize recording links with your own domain, making it easy for your customers to recognize your brand every time they record a Jam.

It works automatically, so your customers don’t have to do anything. Whether you’re using Intercom, or any other customer support tool, all you have to do is send a recording link. Fields such as credit cards & passwords will appear blurred as soon as they start recording.
