I hope you’ve had a good summer! ☀️ As August comes to an end, I wanted to share a quick update about the new Study Legal English website and some new lessons you can watch on YouTube.

🌐 The new Study Legal English website is almost here!

The redesigned Study Legal English website is due to launch at the beginning of September 2026. 🎉

The new website has been designed to make it easier for you to find courses and learning materials and to improve your overall learning experience.

Please note that the website may be temporarily unavailable for short periods in the first weeks of September while the final maintenance work and changeover are carried out. I’ll let you know as soon as the new website is ready!

👋I hope you’re well. And to those of you currently dealing with the summer heat, I hope you’re staying cool! This photo ⬇️ popped up on my phone today reminding me that this time last year, I was in Oman, teaching with Claudia Amato, preparing students for the Test of Legal English Skills. After work on Thursdays (the end of the Islamic working week) we would go to Azaiba Beach, Muscat, for Mishkak (BBQ’ed meat with a delicious sauce) and ginger tea. And, as you can see from the photo… it was…HOT.

Now, I’m back in Italy, and it is also… HOT! Fun fact: In Italy it’s common to use outdoor curtains on your balcony to try to keep the heat out of the house. 😅

So, with all this hot, hot, hot ☀️… isn’t it about time to plan a summer holiday? Well, in case you want to combine a holiday with learning, why not join Rosalyn Sheehy and me in beautiful Nuremberg for our Legal English Summer School from 20–25 July 2026? Yes, OMG! About me: You might subscribe to this newsletter because you listen to my podcast or follow my YouTube channel. Perhaps you already know a bit about me. If not, hello, 👋 I’m Louise Kulbicki, LLB, LLM, a British legal English trainer with over ten years’ experience teaching legal English. I used to be a board member of the European Legal English Teachers’ Association, and I am co-author (alongside Natasha Costello) of Practical Legal English Skills published by Routledge in 2023. I teach legal English online to individuals, as well as running group courses. And I’m very grateful that my work has introduced me to many fantastic lawyers working across many practice areas, and allowed me to travel around the world to conduct training. 🥳

About Rosalyn: For the summer school, I’ll be teaching alongside Rosalyn Sheehy, a British and Irish non-practising solicitor. ⚖️Rosalyn is an expert legal English trainer with over fifteen years’ international teaching experience. Legal English has also taken Rosalyn around the world to teach, and she is currently based in Germany. She lectures at Cambridge Law Studio and works year-round preparing candidates for the TOLES examinations. Rosalyn and I worked together in Oman in 2020 on a legal English training project, and I can tell you that she is a fantastic teacher! 🤓

👋Hi, I hope you’re well. 🙈It’s been a while since I last sent a newsletter as I have been quite busy with various projects. But I’m looking forward to reconnecting with you over the coming months, gradually with new content.

Today, I’m excited to share a project that I’ve been working on with fellow legal English trainer Rosalyn Sheehy.

📅From 20–25 July 2026, we’ll be running a Legal English Summer School in Nuremberg, Germany.

Is the summer school for me?

The programme is designed for legal English students, law graduates, young lawyers, anyone preparing for an international legal career or wanting to improve their legal English.

What will I learn at the summer school?

During the week, you will develop practical legal English skills through sessions on:

✅ Contract drafting
✅ Negotiation
✅ Client meetings
✅ ADR
✅ Advocacy
✅ TOLES preparation

Are there any extra activities?

Yes! It’s not all about serious classroom-based learning. You will also visit Courtroom 600 in the Palace of Justice (famous for the Nuremberg Trials after World War II), attend the International Moot Court Competition, and explore the historic city of Nuremberg while networking with fellow participants from around the world.

Who are the trainers?

The trainers are myself (Louise Kulbicki)👋 and my colleague Rosalyn Sheehy, we both have over 10 years’ experience teaching legal English around the world. In fact, we first met while teaching Omani lawyers on a programme in beautiful Oman in 2020-21. During this time, we found out that we both love teaching legal English and legal skills in a fun way 🤓🥳. Here are some photos from our adventures:
