CFL Football more exciting than NFL version?

The Montreal Alouettes are making a strong case for the CFL this season
There’s no contest, in my view. CFL Football played by the Montreal Alouettes may be more exciting than any games you’ll see in Canada or the U.S.

Sam: Beau Pribula? Saw the numbers, no video ... was that passing yardage all short stuff? He proved last year he couldn't throw the ball accurately more than 15-20 yards.

New NFL CTE Study Reopens Moral, Ethical Questions About Watching Football

Plus, LeBron’s $300 million loan, the Buss battle and college conferences take a stand
Back in 2010, I was a young, naive graduate student still finding my way in the world at journalism school. One day, the great Prof. Sandy Padwe brought in a guest lecturer, Alan Schwarz of The New York Times. Schwarz’s superb reporting at the time focused on an overlooked issue that was largely met with groans and shrugs at first in the sporting world:…

Realest piece I've read in a while... The part about athletes being surrounded by people who aren’t necessarily in their corner is so true. With NIL there’s a lot of noise around these guys

So many good nuggets in here. The volume point is on point. If you know the odds are 1 in 100, the answer isn’t necessarily to get better at predicting the one, it’s to keep taking shots. Great read

FFPC ADP Risers and Fallers After NFL Preseason Week 2 (2026 Fantasy Football)

Corbin Young examines several risers and fallers in the FFPC ADP after Week 2 of the NFL preseason.
As a teacher by day, the school year has been ramping up, meaning it’s been busier during the week. I’ve been writing several off-season fantasy football articles at RotoBaller while we’re regularly checking the prices and injury updates. That said, let’s touch on the injury news to Ashton Jeanty and George Kittle, before covering the top risers and fal…

THE KIDS? ONLY POWER BASES WIN WHEN THE NFL JOINS THE SEC AND BIG TEN IN EGO WORSHIP

So much for Lane Kiffin’s grand plan to use NFL rejects at LSU — the SEC would suspend him a half-season and fine the school half its annual football budget — when no one thinks about the players
When was the last time you heard the phrase “student-athlete” in college football? It’s no longer applicable when three-time-transfer quarterbacks blow off all classes. When a player’s future is at stake inside a Power 4 conference — the upper tier of autonomy — it’s egomaniacal and cold when the power players band together and don’t care a lick a…

A charmed football life takes a sordid turn for the NFL cornerback

The PCSA Slips to a September Vote & the First NFL Player EVER Signs to Play for a College Football Team - AGAIN!

The PSCA was not voted on before the Senate went on August recess. Instead we saw the Cleveland Browns waive rookie tight end Dae’Quan Wright on August 23 and Wright sign a deal to play for LSU! WOW!
The Protect College Sports Act (PCSA), a bill we’ve been watching closely in this newsletter, was supposed to be the big win for the coalition of commissioners, presidents, athletic directors, and coaches who have spent seven years lobbying Washington for a federal fix to NIL, eligibility, and antitrust problems in college sports. But it’s not a done de…

Football is Meaningful

The NFL is one of the best-run businesses in the world.
Last April, I raced home...grabbed the TV controller from my wife...and asked her if I could change the channel. I have been married for 40 years, so this happens from time to time; in both directions! She asked, “What is so damn important?” I said, “It’s the NFL draft!” She said, “Isn’t this just some guy reading a card?” I said, “You don’t understand.…

Jeff, I chuckled through reading your message. It was like hearing you come up with more ideas to distract me, just like you did 50 years ago in class. I would love the opportunity to offer several conflicting points. I keep seeing my mental photograph of you and your guys taking great pleasure in making learning fun while challenging ideas and dispelling myths. Those were really exciting days for both students and teachers. It is great that you carry your enthusiasm and intensity still.

THE BLUR NEVER ENDS: CRAZILY, LSU AND KIFFIN WILL SIGN A FORMER CLEVELAND BROWN

Anything is possible in the farcical world of college football, including Lane Kiffin — naturally — signing an NFL tight end in Baton Rouge and possibly a linebacker from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
We have football. We no longer have pro football AND college football. If this makes sense in any subterranean landscape, Dae’Quan Wright has been cut by the Cleveland Browns and is waiting to play for the LSU Tigers. I always say the Supreme Court has taken a hatchet to sports — gambling, NIL, transfers — and left permanent gouges.
