The rapid turnaround has been driven by stronger market momentum and trading activity, alongside improving investor participation and attention. The move accelerated sharply from 31 (Neutral) on 17 August to 62 on 20 August, before reaching the current level. Sentiment is now close to Extreme Greed (>75), and around the level last seen in early October 2025, shortly before the 10 October flash crash. The comparison is notable, but the October sell-off was ultimately triggered by an external macro shock and highly leveraged positioning, rather than the sentiment reading itself. The current move therefore points to rapidly strengthening risk appetite and increasingly crowded positioning, albeit without the same degree of leverage, rather than being a standalone signal of an imminent reversal. The improvement comes as Bitcoin has recovered strongly, supported by renewed ETF demand, a weaker dollar and improving expectations around crypto regulation and liquidity.
