ignorance is a bliss. you might’ve heard it before, i’ve heard people say it since my childhood and i always associated it with happiness. bliss = happiness. but is it a glory? i bet the correct sentence was “ignorance is a bliss for you and suffering for others”

the internet and constant barrage of violent news has radicalized our mind to the point it doesn’t feel outrageous when we come across a news piece of a child or a woman raped, murder of a man or a similar savage incident. perhaps a spark of intense empathy or fury lasting as long as we remember the news or scroll to the next video. and it’s not our fault, our algorithm has been shaped to toy with our emotions.

definitely not our government, with it’s total national government debt is approximately $2.17 trillion. Its total external debt is $765 billion, making it the most indebted country in South Asia, with it’s 18 month high 4.38% Inflation rate, poverty with 24% of the population, human development index at #130 out of 193 countries, rising unemployment rate…etc. no end. but hey? the government is not our enemy. and definitely not our beloved billionaires who are using us to increase the surplus of their income and are actively trying to climb up the Rich List.

but the topic is ignorance so yeah i’ve to get back to it. i go off track. how does ignorance affect a comfortable society? it doesn’t. you sit behind a screen and watch other people suffer, until it’s your turn.

i once said ‘religious people should never be politicians’, because religion affects politics and provides the foundational moral and ethical principles that guide individuals and societies in their political and social behaviors. For example, in ancient Mesopotamia, the Code of Hammurabi was deeply intertwined with religious beliefs and was seen as divinely ordained. Similarly, the laws of ancient Israel, as presented in the Hebrew Bible, include detailed regulations on morality, justice, and social behavior, which have influenced Jewish, Christian, and Islamic legal traditions.

if your basic moral values are determined by a given set of rules by your religion, what more could be said about governing strength?

and come on, the audacity of them. you present them with proof their wrongdoings and they still deny it.

what should we do? i honestly don’t know, we are humans and it’s only much you could do. perhaps empathize more, be more aware, because of course in the profoundness of your indifference, you would be similar to God.

it’s been more than a month since i’ve posted an article on substack, a few weeks since i’ve picked up my journal. it feels exhausting to just think about sitting down and writing stuff, not that i’m not busy, so many important exams are looming over my head but even then there’s alot i want to pour out of me.

i keep thinking i should write whatever little thought that phrases itself in my head or some gut wrenching lines i read in my current read. but no, it’s a miracle if i end up writing on the notes app which is most convenient option. this is not something i’ve developed recently so i can point to a phase of life or my mood. ever since i picked up journaling 6 years ago, there would be times i would do three entries a day or none for weeks.

perhaps it’s difficult to articulate those thoughts, or perhaps overwhelming. or maybe i’m just lazy some times. but i haven’t been honest in my journal either. i skip words, i skip lines, i prefer to write in a foreign language, because it feels safe, it doesn’t feel like flaying my skin open. for some reason the words from my mother tongue feel vulnerable, real, and irreversible to me.

but i never force myself, to read, to write, to create. i let myself consume so much, it starts to feel heavy that it eventually spills. maybe not everyone go through this, maybe it’s just me. and surely i know i will not finish this article in one sitting.

do you know the feeling of feeling full and you’re on the verge of puking but you’re just not there yet?

my thoughts are a maze, i go in a direction, i take a turn, then another, then another, dead end. it ends before i can even understand it much less write it down. like dostoevsky said "I swear, gentlemen, that to be too conscious is an illness—a real thorough-going illness."

ofcourse i have so much to say but if i haven’t the words to say, how can it be said?

our thoughts are limited by the language constructed by humans, that’s a barrier beyond which you and i understand each other. until then, we shall choose silence.

a lot has happened in the past two weeks. i took part for dancing in freshers party. i wore saree and danced. got nice pictures. then deleted my instagram and isolated myself. smoked for the first time with my friend, though i coughed but i liked it. on the same day i got myself a feral orange kitten. zee.

we buried him along with his toy. he’s near our house. i walk past that place everyday and it’s still the same. today i cut some fruits to eat later. exams are starting soon.

okay so why don’t the rich donate to us poor? they do, enough to keep the working class in the loop. enough so we don’t die of hunger or revolt back against them.

your whole idea of a decent lifestyle is nothing but a desperate desire to join the ruling class, the bourgeois. to oppress instead of being oppressed. to work less, earn more. and have i told you about the income inequality yet? the top 1% control 42% of global wealth, while the bottom 50% owns just 2%. do you want numbers? fine. 42 of the world’s richest individuals held as much wealth as the 3.7 billion (3,700,000,042) people in the poorest half of the population (i needed to add that 42 at last to make it more real for you)

LIVE BY?

let me tell you about the trickle down theory.

trickle down means flow of liquid from the top which has the most liquid to the bottom. it is also something applied in the system, implying that cutting taxes of the corporate and wealthy individuals will ‘hypothetically’ help them create more employment. this, this has no positive proven effect.

but who makes the ‘rich’, rich and powerful? precisely us. i get it, you like that overpriced handbag, you like supporting your favorite artist who’s a billionaire, you like the comfort of online shopping from your bed while out there small retail shops and businesses shut down. your comfort and choice matters. because the children could be eaten out there on an island and our main concern would be about the best dressed celebrity at the met gala. if it's happening to you doesn't mean it's not happening.

no, i was not assaulted or went to bed early so i wouldn’t cry of hunger. yes, i was privileged. then why am i an atheist now? and why i am afraid to admit it? precisely because losing god is like losing a parent who did not think of you as their child.
