Samsung is offering some really good trade in deals for the Z Fold 8 phones, offering up to $1200 max trade in credit, up to $100 off select products, $200 off instant credit without trade in, $30 reserve credit (if applicable), and $100 credit with PayPal using code PAYPAL100!

Samsung us only offering the MAX $1200 trade in credit for top-tier Samsung phones like the Z Fold 7, S26 Ultra, and $1100 for the Z Fold 6, and even $900 still for the Z Fold 5! This is for the Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra. They’re even offering top tier dollar for the S25 Ultra ($900) and S24 Ultra ($850). The iPhones and Pixel phones get terrible trade in deals, sadly. Not even worth mentioning here. However, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon are offering some pretty good deals depending on carrier plan and the device you’re trading in! Z Flip 8 deals are slightly less appealing especially with the $100 price increase the second year in a row, but at least we got the Snapdragon processor back with the Snapdragon Elite Gen 5, and a few other niceties like improved app support on the front screen, and really nice new colors. However, even the best deal has you shelling out $500! Here is the deal info: Max $600 trade in credit, $100 off select products, $150 off instantly with no trade-in, $30 reserve credit *if applicable, and up to 15% off specific add on products.

The Max $600 credit is only for top tier phones like the S26 Plus - they aren’t taking the Ultra as trade-in, also the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, and it goes downhill from there. They offers are also bad for the iPhones and Pixel phones, with even lower values than for the Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra, but carriers are offering a maximum of up to $1100 in savings depending on plan and trade-in. Best Buy appears to be offering up to $600 MAX trade in and a $200 Best Buy gift card as well.

Thanks to prominent tech leaker Evan Blass, we now have what looks like the last and best look yet at the upcoming Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra, leaving nothing to the imagination! See for yourselves:

The Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra are launching on July 22nd at 9am EST/8am CST, and we will finally get to see them live and in the flesh. These new leaks look like they are snagged from marketing materials and you can see clearly the design, fancy purple shaded colors, and some of the camera spec information. Now we know for sure that the Z Fold 8 (wide) will have an ultrawide camera as the second camera, and the Z Fold 8 Ultra seems to be rocking similar cameras to last year, and still the same 10mp cameras that we have had for entirely too long, for the cover and interior selfie cameras. And it looks like the Ultra will have an upgraded battery to 5,000mah, and the Z Fold 8, appears to be 4,800mah from what I’ve seen reported.

I am still most excited about the Z Fold 8 and the wide stance. I wish it had the triple camera array that we have come to expect and appreciate in the former Z Fold phones, and now the “Ultra”. I guess they have to distingush the two phones somehow and give more features to the Ultra to maintain the moniker, but other than that, I’m still excited about both of the phones - especially with the new purple cameras.

Happy Birthday, Z Fold 7 & Z Flip 7!

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are officially a year old, as of July 9th! It’s been a quick, crazy year, and Samsung redefined the folding phone game with the major changes to the Z Fold 7, and maybe less so with the Z Flip 7, but overall both phones are solid.

I called the Z Fold 7 the “phone of the year” last year and thoroughly enjoyed using and testing it, and coming back to it over the past year has always been a great experience. It sucks that Samsung took away the S Pen, but the 200mp camera upgrade, new and improved exterior and interior screen, OneUI updates, and the thin-form factor made a lot of people happy, coming from the stale design of the Z Fold 6, however… people still wanted more! A bigger battery was missing, the brightness and charging speeds didn’t keep up with the competition, and the price is definitely not cheap.

However, I think the changes and updates were an overall win and have me excited for the Z Fold 8! It’ll be interesting to see how much Samsung listened, and what major changes we may in for on July 22nd. The same goes for the Z Flip 8! Hopefully the cameras, battery, and charging are are the forefront, but we will have to wait and see! Some people are even speculating that Samsung may be ditching the Z Flip in favor of other form factors and that the Z Flip 8 could be the last. I’m most hopeful for coming back to a Snapdragon chipset, and upgraded cameras which are sorely needed. The Z Flip has fallen behind in the flagship category and is losing in many ways to the RAZR Ultra, but the design is spot-on, premium, and a great and very refined experience. Time to see what we get next in just a few short days, and see what the next generation of Samsung folding phones brings to the table - especially the Z Fold 8 with the wide screen! I’m super excited about the wide form factor and can’t wait to test one out!

Pixel Update for July 2026 IS HERE!

Google dropped the July update for Android for Pixel phones two days ago, on July 7th. Here is my video detailing all of the updates and fixes!

This Android update and security patch is for Pixel 6 through Pixel 10 series phones. Sadly there are only a handful of fixes, but there is one MAJOR fix, which is a fix for the notorious boot loop issue that some Pixel users have been experiencing. Sadly, there are not “fixes” listed for many of the reported issues since Android 17 dropped last month, like the widgets disappearing, connectivity issues, and more. However, like I mentioned in my video, sometimes just the update alone can fix some rogue issues that aren’t listed in the official patch, so I would encourage you to check out your phones after the update. The update is available now and rolling out, meaning you can go to your SETTINGS on your Pixel phone and check for SYSTEM UPDATE, for the latest and hopefully download it now, or soon if it’s not available now.

I’m hoping for a broader set of fixes and updates in August, but I read that Google MAY be working on a maintenance patch that could be released sooner to fix some of the Android 17 bugs that have surfaced, so hopefully that happens. Google fixed 38 specific bugs with the Android 17 release which is great, but it’s not 100% perfect yet and the sooner it all gets addressed the better!

Pixel 11 Launch Date IS OFFICIAL!

Google dropped the bombshell today and announced the launch date for the upcoming Pixel 11 series phones!

SAVE THE DATE! August 12th at 6pm EST, the Pixel 11 series - presumably the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold… and possible the Pixel Watch 5 - will launch! This is super exciting as we will get to see the new updates, upgrades, features, pricing and more for the much anticipated successor to the Pixel 10 phones. The Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 series phones have made major strides with consumers over the past two years especially in key markets like the USA and Japan, picking up market share and offering a great alternative for folks wanting to move away from iPhone! Google has brought on RCS chat which works with iMessage, and even made QuickShare work with AirDrop, making the Pixel phones a popular destination for Apple users. I’m excited about the upcoming Pixel 11 and especially the Pro and Fold series and can’t wait for August 12th! What are your thoughts and are you thinking about picking one up??

Z Fold 8 // Trade In Credits Are King!

One of the biggest questions that I get when it comes to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra, is a) price, and b) trade-in deals. These phones are expensive, with the Ultra version expected to likely be $100 more than last year’s Z Fold 7. But, some of that can be alleviated with the “trade in credit” band-aid, which Samsung is usually the king of. Samsung is the best at offering deals, credit, freebies, and more, when they have new phones come out. Samsung firmly believes in Day 1 and Week 1 sales, offering the best deals you’ll see for months, as soon as the phone sales go live - BE SURE YOU’RE SUBSCRIBED TO THE SUBSTACK AND FOLLOW MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL FOR THE LATEST INFO!

I will have day one information as far as phone deals, pricing, trade-in credit, and everything you’re going to want to know about the Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8, once the Samsung Unpacked Event happens and the information is released.

Last year, Samsung offered $1150 MAX trade-in credit for the Z Fold 7 - currently they’re only offering $1000, a year later. They also offered the free “double storage” upgrade, and even $50 credit if you reserved your pre-order. I am expecting something similar this year, but can’t say for certain until the phone launches and Samsung makes that information public. However, the reserve your pre-order sign up should be in the next week or two, if everything goes according to rumored schedule!

Z Fold 8 Better Be Great!

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Z Fold8) and Z Fold8 Ultra will be here in just a few weeks and it’s Samsung’s chance to respond to the latest and greatest folding phones out there, e.g., Oppo Find N6, Honor Magic V6, RAZR Fold, etc… These phones are of course all great and fantastic, but the Z Fold 7 is a year old and being compared to these 2026 folding phones. It will be interesting to see how Samsung responds in just a few weeks at the next Unpacked Event where we will see the Z Fold8 and Z Fold8 Ultra, and see if Samsung can retain it’s crown as “king of the folding phones”. Big concerns are price, camera, charging, battery, screen brightness, and more! I don’t know about you but I’m excited for the next big things from Samsung!
