This Depths of a Man rollout has been in many ways a test to my patience when it comes to incorporating how I feel about my music career as a whole.

I’ve largely been maneuvering as an independent artist my entire career. Which comes with a lot of bullshit. Some good days, some bad days. But ultimately, always rewarding because I get to interact with people who say things to me that I can’t believe to this day.

My relationship with my music career has been a tricky one. In some cases I find myself hating it. I am in a lot of ways, coming to grips with my own reckoning about choices I’ve made. Its not about what I’ve accomplished. It’s more about what I haven’t invested in. Health, wellness, and overall lifestyle preference.

I made a decsion a long time ago to do this by myself when I had an opportunity not to. Sure, I’ve hired help. Had managers (too many) & I’ve even had a dedicated team. I in many ways, took a lot of my so-called ego tactics and displayed them in front of the world to seem like someone who had people around him all the time.

But in reality, I’m a loner out of trauma. I isolate. I put myself on a pedestal. I envision myself as being the greatest of all time. I carry a chip on my shoulder. I believe I should be further along than I actually am. I do things from a place of anger & resentment, & I allowed all of that to make me someone I didn’t recognize.

Depths of a Man speaks to all of this. I speak to these ills. My wife took this picture of me in the hospital while I was in the throes of psychosis & recovering from back surgery, where I was removing a tumor that was pressing against my lower spine. I think when I look back to that time, I was so enthralled in my madness that I couldn’t realize how many people were here for me and rooting for me.

I sent messages and said all types of wild shit to friends, close ones, & industry peers that I find myself still apologizing to people, including myself, about. It’s not easy. In fact, it’s actually fucked. I hate it most days. If I could take it all back, I would, but I’m also not smart enough to know if something was or wasn’t beneficial for me. Hindsight is 20/20, & God always has a plan.

Anyhow, I don’t have all the answers to questions that I have for myself, but I believe this album at least attempts to call forth a bit of perspective. I’ve put it on sale for 50$ before it drops officially in two weeks. It’ll help me as I navigate this diagnosis, pay some bills, & restart my music career.
