• A new character, Sae, is now available at the bar. She works as a bartender — you can chat with her, get horse racing tips, build friendship, and play blackjack for special rewards. Friendship doesn’t provide gameplay bonuses yet, but this will be added in future updates.

  

• Horse racing has been expanded: seasons are now implemented, more horses are available (generated at the start of a save), each with unique traits that can be discovered in the bar and elsewhere.

• When you learn a hint about a horse, its trait becomes revealed to you.

• You can now review results of recent races to make more informed bets.

• 

• Weather system added - including a weekly forecast. Weather affects horse races, track conditions, and can even cause major disruptions that temporarily shut down the stock market.

• Sae and Amy can now give you advice on horse racing.

• Inventory is now viewable - in addition to fishing bait, you can see all your gifts and special items.

• You can now quickly buy large batches of stocks (1000+ shares) on the market, if you have enough funds.

• Various UI fixes related to fishing.

These are player-to-player transactions. The money goes from one user’s wallet to another, not to me as the developer. That means I cannot refund or reverse them — I have no access to those transactions.

Unfortunately, Steam support often redirects players back to ME, even though I have no tools to fix Community Market trades. I can only refund in-game purchases, not market deals between players.

All items in Legend of Himari drop just by playing the game. I don’t sell them directly - they are earned in-game. If you see them on the Steam Community Market, that’s purely players trading with each other, not me selling.

I can remove items from a player’s inventory, but only if I already know their SteamID and the exact item ID. But: I cannot see who is selling items on the Steam Market. Steam does not share seller information with developers.

I cannot ban someone from using the Steam Market. Only Valve controls trading and the Community Market. I cannot cancel or refund a transaction once an item is sold on the Market — that is fully handled by Valve.

It is almost impossible for me to track down which specific player is listing items for sale, since Steam hides that data.

In short: I can manage items inside the game, but I have no control over what happens on the Steam Market.

At this moment, Valve hasn’t taken action to stop this issue or provide developers with a way to protect players from such scams. For example, I would like to set a maximum price for my items on the trading platform, but I am unable to do so at present.

Also one obvious fix would be for Valve to remove the option to buy items at custom prices. Players should only be able to purchase the cheapest available listing. That alone would close the loophole hackers are exploiting.

I’m very sorry my game is being misused like this. If this happens to you, please contact Steam Support and clearly state it was an unauthorized Community Market purchase.

A team of friends is creating a nostalgic visual novel inspired by early 2000s anime. Manic Pixie Dream Girls tells the story of half-fae students who enter their classmates’ dreams, influence their subconscious, and battle nightmares.

The style blends influences from Persona, Madoka Magica, and Tumblr-era aesthetics. Key moments present three choices, one of which always leads to a bad ending. Several artists and writers work on the project with the goal of recreating the vibe of eerie, old-school anime.

The visual novel was one of the winners of Ukrainian Visual Novel Jam #5 and is now being prepared for full release on Steam. You can already support the developers by adding it to your wishlist.

Remember “desktop companions” from the 2000s — when a little character would walk around your screen, sit on window edges, or perch on the Start bar? I decided to bring that idea back, but turn it into a full-fledged game — a quirky mix of idle game, raising sim, virtual friend, and even a touch of dating sim.

The main heroine is Akari from my visual novel PockeDate!, now ready to live right on your desktop. You’ll manage her schedule, give her tasks, help her study, socialize, and build her singing career, while also taking care of her mood and rest.

Desktop Akari will run over everything you do, not in a separate window, so she’ll always be there. Release is planned for early next year.

What's next?

I underestimated the scope of the updates. I hoped to be ready for a full release after a year, but we're not there yet. In fact, this year won't see the full release either, and I'm falling behind on my update schedule again.

So, I'm updating the roadmap once more.

Already in Update 0.4

• New mini-games including golf, arcade games, and fishing

• Direct interactions with the Yakuza and through employees

• A city map that allows travel to various new locations like parks and temples

• Companies can now go bankrupt, merge, or be acquired

• Random event mode, annual business rankings, and plenty of smaller updates and news

I'll continue to improve stability and add minor enhancements in 0.4, but I also want to share my plans for the major 0.5 update.

Expect in 0.3:

• A rhythm-based karaoke mini-game featuring my own tracks styled after retro PC-98 sounds

• Claw machine mini-game, allowing you to win toys for Amy and others

• Enhanced competition among companies in the same sector, giving you a clear view of your rivals

• The option to start a charity or research fund to utilize the endless billions if you're particularly successful

Future plans (not necessarily in 0.5) include a more comprehensive dating simulator.

In Version 0.6, I plan to introduce commercial real estate, which will offer higher profits but at a higher cost. This update will be dedicated to that expansion.

Afterwards, I'll focus on the story mode, which will be the foundation for the full release from Early Access.

The full release might be a bit pricier, and will feature new characters to compete against or befriend.

I appreciate your patience as timelines can be tricky. Thanks again for your support. I hope you enjoy the game as much as I enjoy making it.

• Direct dealings with the Yakuza: you can order them to take out rivals, shake up certain financial sectors, and even buy your way out of their wrath at any moment.

• You can change the color palette of the interface, with additional color sets and the option to create custom palettes by editing the file "data/palette.png"

Quality of life:

• You can now adjust the daily expense size by clicking directly on the scale, not just the + or - buttons.

• The right mouse button now functions as Escape in most menus (making it more convenient to play one-handed).

• News about changes in high-ranking positions will now display the portrait and information of the individuals.

• Stock price charts now show more consistent numerical values.

• You can now navigate the "Advisor" tab and "Milestones" menu using arrow keys on the keyboard or gamepad, and the Escape button returns to the previous screen.
  
  These changes are part of my gradual effort to make the game fully operable using only the keyboard (which will also improve gamepad controls) as well as only the mouse.

Fixes and Other:

• Added crash notification system: if the game crashes, you will be prompted to send me a report (currently works only on Windows).

• You can no longer purchase real estate or cars while on vacation.

• You can no longer buy suspicious companies.

• Fixed a bug where a new company going public (IPO) had incorrect data from another bankrupt company (e.g., you were already in debt with short stocks).

• Fixed a bug that could cause the game to crash when exiting to the main menu.

• Fixed a bug where characters had two first names instead of a first name and a last name.

• Fixed an issue where you could start the next day during the Board of Directors meeting by pressing Enter.

• Fixed a bug where the name of an illegal company could repeat.

• Fixed a bug where the player could instantly lose the CEO position after engaging in illegal business.

• Amy no longer leaves with each new dialogue line.

• Players who have been waiting a long time for company responses can finally send new purchase offers (after some time).

But, you may also have noticed that I didn't manage to complete this update on time, so I'll have to extend the development time.

I understand that many of you might be disappointed with the new timelines, but this is a necessary step to allow me to work on the game at a somewhat reasonable pace and still have free time for other projects.

However, you won't have to wait 3-4 months for each update – I will now be rolling out updates gradually so that you're not left without new content for extended periods. The next major planned update, "0.4 Entertainment," will begin to roll out in December, possibly even a bit earlier.

For instance, from the upcoming content, you'll get more vacation events (and a new mini-game!) as well as increased interactions with the Yakuza, including in the context of company management. You will receive all this without waiting for me to complete everything planned for version 0.4, so don't be surprised if the subsequent 0.4 update doesn't bring as much content.

This approach will also help me better monitor the game's balance and address bugs more progressively.

About 0.3 update

Regarding the 0.3 update, I might have overestimated my capabilities and ended up creating content that perhaps should have been released later. This particular mode feels like a standalone DLC (which I'm not planning to make yet, as I want to complete the full version of the game first). However, I believe it will be a pleasant surprise for those who start playing now and, at some stage, discover another game within the game.

Moving forward, I'll focus on the game's main theme – the stock market. And also on Emi. Emi will receive more content and costumes, which is something I personally want.

Are you on top of the latest trends? Do you have a knack for predicting market shifts? Prove it, and watch your market knowledge reputation grow.

6. Philanthropy

Generous donations and charity work boost your philanthropy reputation. After all, a businessman's role isn't limited to just making profits.

7. Innovation

Pour money into developing and promoting novel technologies or revolutionary ideas. Taking the lead in innovation always makes a mark.

8. Overall Reputation

The ultimate reflection of your standing in the business world, this is the sum total of all the above facets.

Each of these dimensions will not only influence how the world perceives you but also unlock new gameplay possibilities. A solid reputation might attract exclusive deals, special events, and unique opportunities, while a questionable reputation might incite public backlash or even attract government scrutiny.

So, first devlog about Amy. Who is she?

Amy is a complex character with a range of emotions and experiences, which I wanted to reflect in her dialogues. She's a hard worker and takes her job seriously, but also has a playful and mischievous side to her personality. I wanted to make sure that her conversations with the player were not only informative and task-oriented, but also had some humor and lightheartedness to them.

To achieve this, I came up with a variety of dialogues that reflect different aspects of Amy's personality. For example, I created dialogues where Amy tells stories from her childhood, shares personal and intimate details from her life, and even gets a little bit tipsy and acts silly with the player while on a walk.

I wanted to create a character that would not only guide players through the game but also provide an engaging and memorable experience.

I also made sure to incorporate cultural references to Japan in the 80s, where the game takes place, to really immerse the player in the setting and make the dialogues feel more authentic. These references range from famous Japanese works to local customs and traditions.

In addition to crafting her personality and dialogues, I also designed a storyline connected to Amy that runs throughout the game, offering different endings based on the player's decisions and interactions with her.

This storyline adds a layer of depth and emotional investment to the game, as players will be able to see how their actions impact Amy's life and the development of their relationship. As they progress through the game, players will encounter various events and situations that challenge their bond with Amy and require them to make crucial choices that will ultimately determine the outcome of her story.
But I'll talk about the storylines some other time.
