The Dyson Airwrap (or any other blow drying tool)

I love the look of a curly blow dry but I don’t love trying to coordinate a round brush and hair dryer as I get my hair stuck round the brush and have to rip it out. Thankfully the Dyson Airwrap makes it so much easier to achieve that even I can do it. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad hair day when I’ve used this and if I pin the curls my hair can last a few days which is a bonus!

A large water bottle

If you want to drink more water (which you should) the easiest way to make sure you actually do is to buy the biggest water bottle you can find and keep it with you throughout the day. I love the Simple Modern tumblr when I’m at home and the Stanley Ice Flow on the go.

Nintendo Switch 2

If you’re considering getting one just go for it. I upgraded from a Switch Lite and the difference is night and day. I’ve also really expanded my gaming horizon since I upgraded (shout out to BOTW) because I can now play bigger games that need more power. Plus the bigger screen makes handheld gaming 10x better.

Next Lift, Slim and Shape jeans

I live in these jeans, the fit is so flattering. They’ve got a double waistband to hold you in, they lift the bum and accentuate your shape. They come in different colours and styles as well which is a plus. They’re my favourite jeans so far.

Laura Mercier loose powder

I can see why this is a cult favourite. It’s finely milled, doesn’t cake up or crease plus it sets my concealer in place all day. I don’t see myself going back to any other powder.

333 Beverley Hills jewellery

I am obsessed with this jewellery brand! I’ve actually lost count of how many pieces I own from them. My oval ring is probably my favourite and most worn piece which I always get compliments on. The quality and craftsmanship is excellent and they look way more expensive than they are. The best faux jewels on the market!

Kobo Libra Colour

I’m such an ebook girly because I love being able to read on the go. I recently upgraded to a Kobo Libra Colour and I love it! The buttons are very satisfying and I love the stylus for annotating. I also love that Kobo’s can connect to Overdrive so you can borrow ebooks from your local library for free which comes in very handy.

Neom Portable Wellbeing Pod

This is something I use everyday. The portability is so convenient you can put it anywhere and you don’t have to think about where the nearest power socket is because it’s wireless. It’s stays charged for ages and it’s waterless so no mould issues. Since you put the full bottle in it’s really easy to change the scent over so I have different scents for different times of day.

Longchamp Le Pliage tote

If you want to play a game when you’re in a city count how many of these bags you see. I guarantee they’ll be a lot and for good reason. These bags are classic, stylish and very practical. The fold up design makes them easy to store or put in your suitcase to travel with and they hold so much stuff since you can really fill them up due to them being canvas. Mine has quickly become one of my most used bags.

This reframe was exactly what I needed, last year wasn’t easy but I realised I could look at my circumstances in a ‘the person I thought I was going to marry broke up with me and now I’m single and almost 30’ sad kinda way and make myself feel shit about it (and trust me I did do that for a while) or I could look at my circumstances as a new beginning and the start of my movie. I’m like Elle Woods at the start of Legally Blonde (except I’m not going to law school or trying to get my ex back). The latter definitely makes you feel better and more empowered.

That reel inspired this series. I’ve touched on rebuilding and rediscovering myself a bit in previous posts but I thought it would be a fun idea for a serial to actually document the journey because I know starting over in your late 20’s isn’t a unique experience and Substack is the perfect place to share it.

I’ve noticed whenever someone asks me something about myself I get nervous - I always have done. I think I have a fear of being truly known. I’ve always found it hard to let people in because what if they don’t like me? Despite this fear I have a yearning to be truly known. I dream of someone chipping away long enough to get to the layers underneath that not many have seen, not everyone has that kind of patience though. It’s a weird catch 22, it’s like two parts of yourself pushing and pulling, fighting against one another.

I know I’m not alone in this I’ve read other people saying similar things. It seems a lot of us are having these same feelings (maybe I need to do a deep dive on the psychology behind this). Putting myself out there with this blog and also with YouTube has been a huge leap out of my comfort zone and I’m really facing that fear head on. It’s terrifying but exciting at the same time and I know I can’t stay in my own little comfort bubble forever, it’s got to pop eventually. Even writing more personal things like this makes me nervous knowing people will read it but at the same time obviously I want people to read this else I’d just write it in journal.

Part of the reason I haven’t posted in so long is because I get scared and pull back but I know the only way to truly get over this fear is by showing up anyway, so that’s what I’m doing.

It’s not until you look back you see how far off track you’ve gone you realise somewhere along the way the path started turning and you didn’t even notice. You find yourself lost and wondering how to get back to where you’re meant to be.

Losing yourself is a slow process that you don’t realise is happening until hindsight comes along and shines a light on it. It can happen for a multitude of reasons and honestly in the modern world it’s pretty common. We’re constantly surrounded by so much noise it’s quite easy to get lost in it all and forget who you are.

I’ve definitely spent the last couple of years wandering a path I hadn’t realised had veered so far from where I once was. It wasn’t until the clarity that came with distance from the situations that rerouted me that I came to this realisation. Hindsight really can be a beautiful thing.

I’ve spent the last few months reconnecting with the former small joys that used to light the spark within me. I started listening to the old playlists that hadn’t been listened to in far too long, I dusted off books that were waiting to be read and I opened my sketchbook for the first time in long time. Through bringing back these small joys slowly but surely I've felt myself returning.

I’m coming home.

I know we’re already a month into 2026 but I thought it would be fun to make some trend predictions.

Low Effort Beauty

I think low effort beauty is definitely here to stay. I don’t think heatless curls are going anywhere. I can definitely see at least a few new methods to achieve them circulating on TikTok. I can also see more brands coming out with lip and cheek stains with overnight lip stains continuing to rise in popularity. I wouldn’t be surprised if brands brought out bronzer/contour versions of blush stains (which I hope they do!).

A slight update to the natural make up look

I think there’ll be a slight shift away from the clean girl ‘no makeup’ makeup look that’s been popular over the last couple of years and make up will become less subtle especially since everyone’s obsessed with 2016 right now. I don’t see 2016 glam making a full a return but I think we’ll start heading that way.

All this effort to make it look effortless

Effortless up dos where you watch the tutorial 10 times and still don’t understand how to do it - I think they’ll continue to be all over TikTok. Maybe on the 11th watch I’ll finally figure it out.

Beauty Electronics

It wouldn’t surprise me if Dyson move into skincare this year and release a red light therapy mask to rival the Shark one. Since people love a beauty gadget I reckon we’ll see at least one more electronics brand release a product within the beauty space.

Tights get an upgrade

This is already starting to happen but I think over the colder months we’ll see more patterned tights and maybe even coloured tights that would make Blair Waldorf proud.

The return of more colour

This is probably wishful thinking but I’d love to see more colour return to peoples wardrobes and a shift away from the very neutral aesthetic that a lot of people have been wearing.

Life can change with the click of a finger and suddenly you find yourself somewhere you didn’t think you’d be. That’s what happen to me last year which left me wondering “what now?”.

In a time where everything feels like it’s fallen apart that’s when something new can start to grow, a renaissance (I just wanted to use a big word to sound more cultured). Which is why I decided to re immerse myself in the hobbies I’d lost because somewhere along the way I’d forgotten about doing things for me. So I started reconnecting with the old past times that used to bring me joy (and they still do as it turns out) one of those being YouTube. I can’t tell you how good it feels to have a passion project again which was something I’d been neglecting for a long time. I’m excited to start a new journey and see it where it goes even if it is a little scary to put yourself out there.

Another part of this new journey is also writing more which is another thing I forgot how much I enjoy (I feel like Carrie Bradshaw sat here typing this out). I want to use this has a place to just write about whatever I want without the constraint of “niching down”.
