Having Fabian Nicieza (Deadpool co-creator) co-write alongside artist Felix Ruiz gives this real craft pedigree, and Dolce’s own credits (Descendant for Image) back it up. The neurodivergent-perspective angle woven into the missing girl’s story is a genuinely different note for the genre.

Funding & Backer Trends for August 26, 2026

Dark and mature content ran the table. Of the day’s thirteen launches, seven leaned horror, occult, or explicitly adult — No More Gods, ANGELSLAYER, Stormloch, Deep Down, Stench, Lady Luck NSFW, and I Summoned a Demon and She’s Kinda My Type — against six lighter or genre-mixed entries. That’s more than half the slate committing to some flavor of darkness, and it wasn’t just volume: three of the day’s six highest earners came from that same group, including the day’s top two campaigns by funding.

The bundle beat the debut. No More Gods #1-4 and I Summoned a Demon Vol #1-5 both repackaged existing, previously-funded issues into a single new campaign rather than launching a fresh #1 — and landed at #2 and #1 by day-1 funding, respectively. Between them they raised $27,140, more than every other campaign on the slate combined. An established series with a built-in audience is, unsurprisingly, an easier sell than a cold introduction — but the gap here was stark enough to be worth naming as a pattern rather than a coincidence.

Two campaigns opened at exactly zero. Stench #1: One Long Night and Galaxies both launched with $0 raised and 0 backers on day one — a genuine rarity, and notable given the same 24 hours produced the slate’s single highest-funded campaign at $16,636. Neither is a small ask stalling on a huge goal: Stench’s target is a modest $795, and Galaxies gave itself 59 days to find its footing, the longest runway of any campaign this issue.

Average pledge told a different story than total raised. No More Gods’ $58.68 average across 179 backers and I Summoned a Demon’s $56.20 across 296 back a broad, deep-tier-buying audience; Deep Down’s $17.22 average and Good Lord!’s $26.80 point to smaller, lower-friction pledges building toward the goal one backer at a time. Similar dollar totals, very different fundraising shapes.
