I’m just back from Nashville for business, and a road trip with my kid in Quebec into Ontario.

Harper and I were peeling down the 401 in his pickup, talking about how a mold outbreak in his apartment turned out to be a blessing. (Note: mold in two of my homes did me dirty, and it took me 3 years to get my health back, so this is a hot topic.)

Because of the health hazard, Harper was able to get out of a year-long lease on the same day that he found a rad pad three times the size, in a great neighbourhood, for only $30 more a month.

“Thank f*ck for the mold!” Yes.

Which got us critiquing the old story about the farmer and his “good luck/bad luck.”

Do you know this one?:

An old farmer’s horse runs away, so Farmer can’t work his crops any longer. The neighbors say: “Such bad luck!” The farmer says, “Maybe.”

The horse comes back, bringing with it three wild horses. The neighbors say, “Such good luck!” The farmer says, “Maybe.”

The farmer’s son gets thrown off one of the horses and breaks his leg. The neighbors say, “Such bad luck!” The farmer says, “Maybe.”

Soon after, the army comes to conscript young village men for war. Because of his broken leg, the son got passed over. The neighbors say, “Such good luck!” The farmer says, “Maybe.”

Obviously, this is a lesson in neutrality and detachment—both of which are healthy human behaviours the world could use more of.

But… this story always left me anxious about when the good luck might turn into bad luck. I think, ultimately, Mr. Farmer missed a big op for joy.

Today I want to talk about:

a) losing your identity in order to find out who you truly are.

NOT BEING ABLE TO BE YOURSELF SO THAT YOU CAN, CONSEQUENTLY, COME BACK TO YOURSELF

The spiritual path is a home coming—doors within doors leading us to our truer and truer self. The doorways become more narrow as we progress. We have to keep shedding so we can fit through each portal—stripped down of stuff and identities.

The re-shaping can happen from the process of failure and fakery. From being denied what we want the most. From becoming the opposite of who we naturally are.

You know the process—when you escape, molt, then rise in your liberation and look back and think, “What WAS I thinking?”

And YET! The what-who that we get back to was always there in this very lifetime. Life keeps us from our essence and then returns us to it. We’re all prodigal children being welcomed back, getting to be who we are.

I’m about to go summer trippin’. Nashville for an author’s mastermind with James-Atomic Habits-Clear. I’ll be staying with my old time loves, Kate Northrup + Mike Watts, snort laughing and crying. And podcasting.

Then a short flight to Montreal for kid time, and we drive his pickup (windows down, music cranked—almost in total agreement on playlists), heading to my dad’s in Ontario for constant cringe jokes, Lake Erie swims and tomatoes that taste like tomatoes should.

I’ve got a quick story for you about debt—which is really about Acceptance. Note the capital A.

I’m talking about the virtue of Acceptance, a high vibration state. Not the “little acceptance” that’s about acting like we’re going with the flow when we’re actually terrified, or the acceptance we grant when people finally behave that way we want them to.

Big Acceptance is a form of life mastery. When you get in the practice of not resisting what’s occurring, your cortisol levels drop and you build creative energy.

Acceptance is a very compassionate and productive way to live.

Okay, the story (I share some of this in Bless & Release)

I had a friend in a heap of debt. They owed taxes and family loans, and their credit cards were maxed. So stressful.

Shame had them in a headlock so they couldn’t look at the bills or calculate what they owed. It got so insufferable that they—very wisely—got themselves in a debtors’ support program and made an Excel sheet, documented their debt and made a plan to chip away at it.

But two things held them back.

CUES FOR HEALING FROM RELATIONSHIP LOSS

There’s a terrible AI trend happening called “divorce glow up.” Don’t fall for it, it’s mostly AI-generated videos of shlumpy men and women who leave their presumably neglectful spouses, and then start going to the gym, the tanning bed, and finally get the right hair cut.

Et voila! Shlumpy divorcé transforms into hot babe. And presumably, old spouse has much to regret. It’s the revenge glow up.

But the best glows up will happen naturally, and revenge will have nothing to do with it.

I HEALED BECAUSE I STOPPED AVOIDING GRIEVING

I tried to avoid grief. I was like, “I’m going to be one of those chicks that moves ON. Why NOT jump into a thing with that guy who I’d totally compromise on?! Don’t I deserve a big… bandaid?!”

Except… no. That’s not my style. With 4 planets in Virgo + Libra Rising I like things clean and harmonious.

The reality was that I was in deep shock that, even though we were so committed, my partner and I couldn’t save things. And by that I mean, I was gutted that my love was not the miracle substance I wanted it to be. Failure. At love. Of all things.

Following Higher Guidance meant sacrificing the dream.

Someone asked me, “You weren’t together very long, so why the big grief?” Ahem. Clearly they did *not* know me, because when I love, I am OBVIOUSLY ALL IN. Geez. And besides, time does *not* direct the current of Love. Love bends time.

Divorce healing (mine.) Part 1.

My last WITH LOVE, was titled, “A personal update: challenges + rising from the last 3 years.” I only laid out the facts and left out the part about heart wrenching divorce and business hurdles, my temple message, and getting back to big joy.

I’mma unpack it.

MY GUIDING BELIEFS

1. The Soul governs everything. You know, “Life is happening FOR you, not to you?” THAT.

My Higher Self is dispensing what I need in order to do what I incarnated to do: love more now. Sometimes this happens through beauty and joy. Sometimes… exquisite, agonizing emotional pain that makes me want off this ride.

2. Everything is interconnected. My Soul guides me, the planets guide my Soul. We’re like a collection of small-medium-large energies. (God Source is the XXXXXL energy.)

Planets—which we can think of as very big beings that we’re all connected to—pour their energy into individual Souls. Souls then pour energy into their humans. Humans then pour energy into our daily lives. It’s like a top-down ecosystem of Light.

So what does cosmology have to do with break ups? Stay with me, boo boo…

I’ve been making it clear on socials that all of my communication is actually from me, not AI. I hope it goes without saying in this space, but… if it has my name on it, I wrote it, approved it, blessed it.

I’m going to give you a more personal update than usual. Everything is ultimately good. But it’s been a bumpy year. Actually, a bumpy three years.

Let me start with the karmic and planetary scoop. Last year, I decided that I wanted to find an astrologer that I could consult with regularly, since my cherished astrologer went on sabbatical.

I had readings with three different astro advisors. Every one of them started our session by saying, “Wow, it’s been a hard three years for you.”

And I was like… I’m good! I’m resilient! I learned a lot!

But, ya. I stacked it all up. A new marriage and a divorce within 3 years—loving but heartbreaking, of course. I moved homes three times (to be by the ocean, then to get away from mold, then a forced renovation.)

There was health stuff from the mold and metals poisoning—I had so many IVs that my veins started closing down.

Within all of this, I’ve been rebuilding my business.

I wanted to go deeper creatively, spiritually… so decided to restructure everything. At the same time, we lost a massive number of our subscriber list from a tech mishap (it was about 100,000 people, which took about 10 years to nurture—which is potentially devastating for an online business.) We recovered. There have been significant comings and goings on my team, which is always graceful but never easy.

Then there was an arduous AF adventure with a Silicon Valley software developer and the stress circus that is the venture capital scene. We set out to build the Centering app—a new operating system for spiritual devotion, and…

things got slightly litigious. I cleaned out my savings to weather it all. Then I took the advice of two wisened, exited female tech-founders: “Danielle, do *not* raise VC. Keep control and keep your life.” Thank you, ladies.

In all of this, Bless & Release got birthed. Like a miracle baby.

The full app is being built, very quietly, one line of code at a time. The current version is a little trinket. The full unfurl will be like a temple. For now, you can listen to + read the Bless book on it and do The Centering Practice.

So… ya… it’s been a very challenging, karma-cleansing three-year cycle. Expansion. My consciousness. My heart. My friendships. My Faith. I got a decade’s-worth of mystic and MBA curricula.

I’m grateful for all of it, and I’m grateful it’s overrr.

Now I can show up more fully for our membership community, and to create classes and workshops.

I’m going to keep experimenting with delivery. Y’all seem to want, “self serve but, hold my hand and give me straight talk about metaphysical how-to’s.” I GOT YOU.

Online classes in the “industry” are in flux. AI is seductive to self helpers who want to ask Chat GPT for relationship advice.

My advice is to not ask ChatGPT for any kind of relationship advice. 😂

I am not worried about being a spiritual director in the age of AI. Lived experience and love will become more magnetic than ever. That’s the higher purpose of the authenticity + artificiality tension that’s building—to create deeper connection.

Related sidenote: I’ve decided to keep my writing on my site only (for subscribers—you!) and not dice it up into Instagram soundbites. Focused love, not leaky soundbites.
